Oh, my heck it's great!

By Jay P |

I think everyone knows by now that Max Brenner means high quality chocolate. You will find chocolate in just about everything. If you order onion rings, the dipping sauce will have dark chocolate. If you order an orange smoothie, it will have chocolate. Want a martini? It comes with white and dark chocolate. I think you can order wine sans chocolate but that is about it. So, if you love chocolate in some form like the rest of humanity, then this is your place. There are so many choices, you may be stumped but I’ve never had something that was not great so I’m not sure you can go wrong. Not sure which to choose? Try the Sharing Fondue ($25.00) so you can try a little of a lot of choices! We did this with a group of 4 and found it delightful. Feeling thirsty? Give a Milkshake a try ($8.00, I recommend the Chocolate Hazelnut). If I were to share my prejudices, I’ve never considered Max Brenner for non-desert food. It was not a principle thing. Just the chocolate was so good, why should I consider something different? On my last visit, my daughter has missed dinner and ordered the Cheesesteak Waffle sandwich ($15.99) sharing a bite with her dear old dad. Oh, my holy heck! Her recommendation (which I agree) is to ask for the onion ring dipping sauce to put on your sandwich. This combination was so good, it is hard to describe! Right now, I’m picturing Max Brenner pushers on the street offering free tastes to passers-by knowing that they will come back again and again to pay full price. Who needs cocaine when there are Cheesesteak Waffle sandwiches legally available? All I can say is, at my next visit, I’ll pass on desert and get the Cheesesteak. I would also add, service has always been great. We had “Chris A” last time and I give him a call-out because of his great service at 11:30pm on a Friday

Slow Service

By jmr92593 |

I brought my daughter to work with me and she asked to have lunch here (we've been here before). She ordered the cheesesteak on a waffle and I ordered the mac and cheese special. The food was great; however, the service was very slow. The food came out in a timely manner, but then it seemed as if our waitress forgot about us. My daughter looked forward to dessert, but we ran out of time. I only work a block away, but we were a few minutes late getting back because lunch took so long. We arrived at 1:00 on a Mon, and only a few tables were filled. I wish things had gone a little more quickly.

Chocolate everything

By DeavBBQ |

We had heard of Max Brenner in NYC. Saw this location from our hotel not knowing one was in Philadelphia. Actually, very good for dinner. The Waffle Cheesesteak is fantastic, a must try. Everything with chocolate the same, unique and outstanding. I do not think you could go wrong with anything they offer.

Taste the chocolate!!

Very cool spot for dessert, I would not recommend the food. Chocolate lovers will enjoy themselves here and the various desserts available. Only complaint is the tables are very close together. Desserts and drinks are always very tasty and make for a great ending to a lovely night.

Max Brenner Experience in Philly

Delicious food and desserts, awesome service! It is kinda small and they only have two restrooms, which you likely need to stand in line. Highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time...definitely recommend!

Just for dessert

By christinamarie216 |

My husband and I came here for dessert and cocktails. I ordered the White Russian and he ordered the chocolate martini. His martini was delicious. My White Russian was quite strong but good. For dessert we split the chocolate peanut butter sundae. Oh boy was it delicious!!! There was nothing I would change about it - from the peanut butter sauce to the bananas and nuts toward the bottom of the sundae. It was all amazing!

Perfect. Again.

Came with our family because we loved it so much the first time. Kids love it. Mom and Dad love it. Excellent dishes, great drinks and unique flavors!

Severe decline in quality

By prutchi |

My girls insist on coming to Max Brenner for special occasions despite the availability of way better restaurants in Philadelphia We've been coming for a few years - pretty much since they opened - and the service and quality of the food has declined quite considerably in the last year Wait times are long despite empty tables, Tables are left around with dirty plates for a long time, and waiters don't pay attention to detail. Food quality has also dropped. Drinks are not mixed well, and food isn't tasty as it used to be. My recommendation (as long as you don't have kids pushing you to go for the chocolate) is to avoid this place altogether.

Only for chocolate lovers

I usually go with my grandchildren. I prefer savory to sweet. There is normally nothing I like to eat there

Good Food, Great Dessert, Service Lacking

By sneezerg |

Came here with a group of kids and adults on a Friday night. The place was busy and loud, but fun. Kids' selections were great. Dessert was a big hit. The server was very pleasant, but did not write anything down and then got our order wrong. They also didn't check in with us much, but it was very busy. This was a shame for them, because we had been with our kids all day, and would have ordered another round of drinks had the server touched base. Kids loved the chocolate pizza. Adults loved the chocolate pasta and chocolate martini.

Dive into Chocolate Heaven

By Jo-Ann C |

After having a great lunch at an outdoor restaurant, one of my friends mentioned she could go for a piece of chocolate. I Googled to see what I could find and what a find it was! This place is around the corner from where I live and I never knew it! The only limitations are your imagination! The menu is incredible and the staff are terrific! Its the kind of place where you can be that sticky kid gleefully eating an ice cream sundae hoping the day never ends! A MUST GO for anyone and everyone!

Mommy daughter day

When you want a decadent brunch, this is the place to go! We went on a Sunday morning, right after the Broad St run, and sat right down ( with a reservation). The Mexican hot chocolate was spicy and delicious, the cappuccino in the kangaroo mug was chocolatey and delicious! The brunch menu has nothing but yummy options! I just wish that we hadn't filled up on food, we didn't have room for dessert! Will definitely return again!

Very disappointing

By rainmeg54 |

My daughter wanted to go here for a special occasion and our experience was not good at all. Although the restaurant was mostly empty that sat us in a crowded area. The burger was burnt on the outside and red inside. The waffle fries were the best thing there but didn’t counter the negatives. Even the dessert was just mediocre. For the cost and our expectations it was very disappointing!

SO MUCH FOOD!

By Leanne S |

We had Sunday brunch, each of us having a hot chocolate as well. The Dark Mexican Hot chocolate is to die for, and the waitress added extra spice for me. Had an omelette with potatoes and a sugar biscuit, with a side of chocolate. Delicious! But so much food.

Yummy even if your not a chocoholic

By IRockOut |

We came for the kid friendlyness of the place and were not disappointed. A menu of their favorites and a great sundae for dessert. Really spectacular food, served fast and recommended by well trained staff. This group without a sweet-tooth ended up fighting over bites of the s’mores sundae. Save room for dessert!

Awesome place!!!

By Suzanne |

This place serves chocolate that is not just ordinary but excellent and I have been to Switzerland the very best. My favorite at Max, is Chocolate Chai read and chocolate martinis.

Chocolate explosion and fantastic grubbing

By larissa d |

This was our first time at this restaurant...it was AMAZING!!!the foods the drinks, the awesome smell of chocolate... The only bad was that we ate So much and had zero room left for ice-cream deserts! Definitely need to go back for deserts!!!! Go there NOW!!!!!

Good food, not sure about the chocolate

By JWanderers |

We ended up eating here for dinner. The food was good and service reasonably fast. I also liked the ambience which was chocolate “industrial” themed. I was personally disappointed by the selection on the desert menu. I absolutely love chocolate, but thought the menu seemed to be too busy making things sweet instead of chocolaty. I had expected selections such as dark chocolate mouse, hot fudge chocolate sundae, or even a selection of chocolates but did not notice anything like that on the menu. We ended up running out of time to have desert, so cannot really judge, but I was surprised nothing jumped at me as “you have to have this” considering my love for chocolate.

I was in Philly for a romantic getaway and stumbled across this restaurant and immediately knew we had to eat here. After dinner one evening we decided to go here for dessert, what we didn't know was that it was the last day of restaurant week. It was packed on a weekend night and the hostess said they weren't taking any walk-ins. I was bummed and told her we're from out of town and wasn't expecting anything to come from it but she was super sweet and said well then you have to eat here. We waited for 20 minutes and then was able to be seated. I wish I knew her name but she was so nice and accommodating. The service was excellent and and ambiance was soft lighting with candles on tables, perfect for a date. The desserts were amazing! I told my husband that I wasn't going to share because I wanted to try two of them. I got the smore crepes and he had a waffle sundae. Next time we're in town we're eating here.

Dinner with my Sisters in the City

By carasel1908 |

This is the spot if you're a fan of food food fast & chocolate. As a first-time visitor I'm happy muy sisters choose this restaurant. The food was delicious, the wait-staff was attentive & the prices are reasonable. If you love chocolate Max Brenner's is a must!

Kids love this place!!!

By elushka2 |

Kids love this place!!! Great food for adults as well!! Highly recommended but if you or your kids need restroom.. always a long long wait. They have 2 bathrooms for a place that's always packed. Other than that, great place!

Nice all around

By Joel S |

Pros: Tasty cob salad. Delicious chocolate martini. Juicy steak. Attentive service. Discounted parking on the next block, at Academy House parking on 15th St. A menu just for desserts. Cons: ?

Great lunch

By Kristin G |

Stopped into MB's today for the first time-3 adults and 3 kids. Sat at the bar b/c we didn't make reservations and the wait was 1hr 45 min. I really enjoyed my squash, goat cheese, candied pecan spinach arugula salad (ending soon b/c squash is out of season). I loved my kids size waffle dessert and the kids really loved the chocolate shot and "make your own cake" desserts. Will recommend! Make a reservation!!

HORRIBLE! STAY AWAY!

By C B |

I visited Max Brenner for the first time on 6/29/2022. I was super excited to try this establishment based on its appealing website and food menu. Well, this was the worst way to spend $200.00 if there ever was. I noticed our table chairs were splattered with food crumbs so I wiped them off. The waitress was nice but had next to no knowledge of questions asked about menu items but I was still excited to try the food. We ordered the Margarita Panini and Cheesesteak Waffle and side of onion rings. The breads were burnt and the filling in them was non-existent. Taste was bland as could be. The dessert cookie and the pizza were so hard a knife could not cut through. During the visit, we only had the server check in once during out 2 hour visits besides delivering food. When asking for something it took over 20 mins to come back. Why, not sure, since there was only one other table with customers. They were too busy hanging out to flirt with the line cooks it seems. The silverware was covered in spots so I had to spray with hand sanitizer. Glasses were also foggy-ish. Oh, and the two bathrooms both had used toilet paper on the ground, urine on the rims, hair in the sink, and no hand towlels on the roll. That is what really broke the camel's back for me. This place is just a glorified name in a big city catering to mostly tourists I guess. I hope I don't get COVID from this place. Will not be back and will recommend others I know do not.

Great Way To Celebrate a Birthday!

By Michael G |

Eight of us ventured across the Delaware last Friday to visit Max Brenner's for a family member's birthday. Holy Hershey Batman! As soon as you walk in you are surrounded by the wonderful aroma of chocolate. We were pleasantly greeted and seated, and our waitress was soon taking the drink orders, followed by her delivering a couple of Flatbread appetizers. We opted for the Dipper's Dream (a trio of House Made Hummus, Sundried Tomato Spread and Guacamole), but everyone else also enjoyed their Flatbread choices. It took a bit for the entrees to arrive, but everyone seemed satisfied with their meals (Flatbread, Burgers, etc.) . The wife had the Really-Cheesy Crispy Chicken Mac & Cheese (Crispy Chicken Tenders, Special 5-Cheese Blend, Spiced Bacon, Tomatoes and Herbed Bread Crumbs), and I opted for the Cubano Waffle (Turkey, Ham, Crispy Prosciutto, Sweet Pickles, Tomatoes, Provolone Cheese, Romaine and Chili Aioli). Unfortunately, most of us had no room for dessert (I guess a major crime in a Chocolate Restaurant), but the birthday girl ordered one of the Fondue Desserts (Sharing Fondue for Two?), which gave her a chance to toast her own marshmallows. All in all a great time!

OMG

By Alexandra J L |

The chocolate martinis are SO GOOD. The chocolate covered strawberries are addicting. You HAVE to save room for dessert, or just hit it for dessert. Restaurant week is an awesome time to go because you get to try a lot of different stuff. The turkey club is awesome, and I've had the Philly cheesesteak that's in a waffle. SOOOOOO GOOOD!

Good

Overall food was good and waitress was great. Was busy so waited a while for food and then the ultimate sin, the apps came with the entree. Dessert is great and parking is apremium

Poor Service

By GNRMatt |

I've been to Max Brenner many times, but this visit just was a poor experience. After being seated, we waited 20 minutes before the waiter finally came over (and only because I had to ask the hostess to send someone to us). The entire night, the waiter was very, very slow in doing anything for us. We ended up being there for over 2 hours for a simple meal. Now, if they were busy and the waiter was working hard, that would be one thing. However, I saw our waiter spending a good amount of time just chatting with other employees and being social with them rather then tending to tables. This has now gone from being a top place to visit in Center City to a place I'll pass on the next time I'm in Philly. Having said that, the food is still excellent.

Great food. Fun family place.

By Michelle S |

The inside looks so cool. The food was all good. Kids menu is super fun! My daughter got a paintbrush for her ketchup that she loved painting on her cheeseburger. The flat bread pizza was awesome. And the best part is desserts. You have to save room or I saw people here just for dessert. We had the fondue and it was awesome! Waitress was really good and service was quick. You need to visit this place!

If you like chocolate, you'll really enjoy this restaurant. Went there with family and had a nice time. You will definitely want to make reservations. This is a busy place. The hot cocoa was amazing! After sharing a few days dishes, we went walking at King of Prussia Mall. Will definitely go back. Yum

Amazing drinks !!!!

By Jennifer D |

Came recently for a drink and had an amazing time. Sat at the bar had a chocolate martini that was phenomenally great!!!My bartender Michael was considerate attentive and extremely handsome:)! Highly recommend it!!The strawberry crepe was great too! I’ve been here a while ago seems things are changing for the better… be back very soon. 5 stars!

A dessert & chocolate lover's paradise!

By Judi W |

Anyone who has a sweet tooth and loves chocolate should go here. It's a must! They have savoury options too, but many people just go straight to the amazing sweet dessert options. they had a 3 course lunch menu during Restaurant Week for $20. very good value. I had a strawberry and goat's cheese salad to start. Then I tried one of the mac & cheese dishes which was lovely. And for dessert, the hazelnut chocolate and strawberry crepe. All very yummy!

This was our first visit. Got there after the 1pm show of Hamilton. We made a reservation, but we really didn’t need one. Our server was excellent explaining the menu due to it being our first visit. My wife and daughter split a flat bread pizza. They said it was very good. My classic burger and son’s Mac and cheese burger were good as well. Each burger had a small portion of waffle fries. We ordered three different shakes that all enjoyed and then for dessert, more sugar, a tiramisu and a s’mores dessert. Everyone was satisfied and full. This were a bit pricey, 8 dollar shakes, $12 classic burger and 16 for the Mac and cheese. Desserts were 12 dollars each. So for a family of 4 we spent 100 dollars. For a treat meal it was good.

The Chocolate Nazis Will Keep Me from Returning!

By DecloGuy |

I was attending the Eagles parade and made reservations with four other families for dinner at Max Brenner's. I never been and was excited to try it. When I arrived, I asked if I could be seated at a table next to the other families, at this time the restaurant was empty. I was told that I could not because it was not fair to the servers, we would all be in one section. I later found out that the first person to arrive requested a section that was off to the side but was declined. The restaurant quickly filled up so all of the servers ended up doing well I am sure. I also felt major attitude from my server the rest of the meal because of the seating issue. The food was decent for the price paid and the desserts were really good, however I will not be back because I do not like silly rules when I am out, especially when the restaurant doesn't care what would enhance my time. I see from other reviews that the employee's attitude were an issue for others as well. I would strongly recommend better customer service training for your team members.

Just Okay. Not a huge selection of food

By ldiastx |

This was a place where a group of parents and our kids settled on going. The staff was courteous and attentive. The food selection was so-so for adults but great for the kids. I ordered the Steak sandwich with a thick gravy and it was just bland. Don't know if I would go back.

Birthday

By 2TravelLuvers |

Our chocolate fanatic youngest turned 16, so this the natural choice. We started with Buffalo Wings and BBQ Wings (both were smoky dry rubbed). The Buffalo Wings were excellent. The BBQ Wings were exceptional! The entrees consisted of Mac and Cheese, Classic Cheeseburger, Genovese Flatbread Pizza, Classic Alfredo, Caprese Chicken Sandwich, and Tomato & Fresh Mozzarella Flatbread Pizza. Everyone loved their selection (one exception...the Alfredo was just ok). The desserts were the 80's Milkshake, the Classic European Fondue, and the Melting Chocolate Heart Cake. We also ordered a Macchiato, the Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate, the Oreo Hot Chocolate, and a Latte. Again, everything was excellent. Our server, Amber was very personable. Will DEFINITELY return.

Sips on Wednesday night

MB was ok. I was actually looking forward to a chocolate martini. The martini came out in a rocks glass, rather than a martini glass, which to me kinda took away from the drink. idk. The artichoke/spinach dip was actually really good. Def recommend.

Chocolate boutique worth visiting. I am a chocolate lover and I like this place. There are tables - you could sit and try some of the sweet options there. Also there is a little shop - where you could buy presents.

Chocolatey goodness!

By Erica S |

We went here and was not disappointed. You walk in and can smell the chocolate immediately. We had our 6 and a 9 year old children with us. The kids got hot chocolates and their mugs are really cool. No handles and made to hold with both hands. My husband got the White Russian and said it was delicious. For dinner, I had the BALT (BLT with avocado) and hubby had a burger, both were really good. The kids had chicken and pasta. They make it really interesting for the kids. My son got to baste his chicken and fries with ketchup. My daughter got to use a syringe to add the tomato sauce to her pasta. For dessert, we got a 1/2 chocolate pizza and a build your own cake. The chocolate pizza was amazing and the build your own cake was fun to make and good too. Overall the food was really good and the experience was awesome. I would definitely go back.

Great location near Kimmel Center

By Todd F |

This place was such a great find! We were going to Wicked and wanted to eat near the theater. Although it could get a little noisy the food selection was great and very tasty. The drink prices were also great happy hour $3 beers ( in the bottle :) and $4 wine by the glass. The choices on the menu were great and so reasonably priced. My wife had the flank steak and she said it was just amazing and it made her so happy...even the presentation of the plate was very appealing. My buddy and I had the Mac and Cheese and all I could say is wow.....we sure did clean that plate! Bonnie had the burger and fries which was cooked to perfection accompanied by great fries. Our waitress Aidan was just fabulous....so bubbly and sweet , she was a joy and such an asset to the restaurant....she is a keeper! Our only regret was we didnt make it back after the show for one of the highly recommended desserts:) maybe in the future.

A great experience

By justin095 |

My girlfriend and I went to Max Brenner for dinner to celebrate our birthdays which are both in October. Out waiter, Steven, was very gracious and helpful throughout the evening. He made sure we got everything we needed and even gave us extra napkins, without us asking, as our meal was pretty messy (in a good way). We both ordered the Brenner Burger which we surprisingly good considering this place is known for it chocolate themed desserts. After that we had the Oreo hot chocolate and then the “Max’s famous chocolate mess party for two” made up of chocolate mud cake and ganache, whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, bananas, strawberries and toffee sauce served in a cake pan which was more than enough for the both of us. Overall it was a great experience

SLOW Service, no real apologies

By pugzmama |

First, let me say the meals we had were good. We had 2 of the waffle sandwiches - the Philly Cheesesteak and the Havana. The waffle fries were terrific! The spinach-artichoke dip was very small and flavorless. We had the Chocolate Mess Party for Two which was lackluster at best - I didn't see any ganache, and it was drowning in whipped cream which we specifically asked them to go light on. Now for the bad. We were there on a Monday night in late March and it took us an hour and a half to eat. Our dinner took over 30 minutes to arrive (we anticipated the app coming first but apparently he put it to all come out together - good servers ask!) and the dessert 25 minutes! No apologies, no explanation. Our water glasses were empty several times and our food was not very hot when it arrived so I think it sat for several minutes. I finally asked to speak to a manager and his only explanation was, "We were a bit understaffed tonight." No offer to comp part of our meal, no real explanation for the poor service.

Not just for dessert!

By Gail F |

I was here with my family celebrating our daughter's graduation from college and I would highly recommend Max Brenner's for lunch and dessert! We tried the $12 menu which included a light lunch with a small dessert. The food was delicious and especially the chocolate!!!The waiter was very friendly and attentive. The prices were very reasonable so over all I would highly recommend it. If I have any feedback, I would say that maybe the portions on the $12 menu were a little skimpy. Nevertheless everyone loved it.

short visit

a great place for chocolate lovers...the best hot chocolate ever.has great flavours and other eats ad well..very crowded.hav to wait a long time for table..the reception ladies are little disorganised.even if there are tables vacant they do not let you sit..but tge servers were great special thanks to jimmy who was great in service..

Big Miss on the Mess

By caggianosteve |

The restaurant was obviously understaffed, it took over and hour to get our lunch not including dessert. The only item we liked was the Mexican Hot Chocolate, and it was not hot. The quesadilla barely has enough cheese to get it to stick together and about 12 beans total. The burger was well flavored, but it that was a half pound, they need to recheck their scales. The biggest disappointment was the dessert, which is what they are known for. We ordered the Mess which has a "warm chocolate mud cake". It was so over cooked and dry that none of us thought it was worth eating.

Chocolate!!!!

I was walking in town and saw this location. I am a chocolate lover and had to stop. I only looked around and bought chocolates from the shop. Orgasmic!

Very Disappointed

By Scot D |

New Year's Eve 2016. We had dinner as a family at one location (review already provided), and went into the city for dessert, choosing Max's. Reservation for 6 was for 9pm as they told me on December 30th they were booked solid. Showed up for our 9pm reservation as 8:40pm, and the place was 75% full. Three desserts and a hot drink (which was cold) was $75. Portions were small, fondue presentation was very nice BUT dips were cold, included enough fruit slices for 1 person, and each extra bowl was $4.50. Burgers and entrees looked very good, but again, way overpriced, tight tables, and really not worth spending $200 for entree and dessert for a family of 5. Casual atmosphere and while the experience was nice, what I thought Max Brenner would be and what the actual experience was, simply not worth ever going again. I could go to a diner, the Cheesecake Factory, or any number of other places to enjoy dessert. Max simply was nothing special, and overpriced with no value whatsoever. I just don't get it, and frankly, didn't believe the negative reviews prior to going. This was our first trip, and will be our only trip. Do yourself a favor, go elsewhere.

Not just desserts

By theexpert |

We stopped in after seeing the catchy sign. When you walk in it smells like fresh waffles cooking. Lots of chocolate to buy. We were seated and were greeted instantly. We ordered the Frozen Mint lemonade which was perfect on a hot summer's day. For the main course I ordered the savory cubano waffle. It was pretty good except I'm not a fan of mustard. The second entree was the salmon, also pretty good. We did not partake of dessert. This is not a "cheap eats" place. I imagine this place gets busy after the theater gets out. Family friendly.

Good food and drinks, great dessert but noisy and a little cramped

By TMish2014 |

I took my boys here for dinner before a show. Good was good. Prices reasonable. Service very prompt. Boys loved the dessert and i loved the chocolate martini. Unfortunately the place is a little too loud for my liking and the table was too small for the three of us. They needed to put an appetizer plate on the next table to make room for our three dinner plates. I guess it would have been on our laps if that table was in use.

Best Dessert Ever

By Dan C |

The sheer variety of desserts is amazing. And the quality is great as well. I've had many different types. All of them are great, you can't go wrong. Make a reservation well in advance though or else you'll never get in at peak hours.

Fun for kids and chocolate lovers

By Victoria K |

Burgers and fries were delicious. Vegan friends were satisfied with their options as well. Our 6 year old granddaughter loved the dessert options. Cooking your own s’mores was fun. Only beer and wine available.

Awesome place for Chocolate desserts

By Manoj S |

We ordered the Tiramisu, a Peanut butter Hot chocolate and a S'mores Concoction. All were really good and quickly polished off. Only con really was that maybe they were a little bit too sweet. Nevertheless would happily go back there to try out other items on their menu.

Not a fan

By Heather C |

Party of six and was seated at a high top table. The bar stools had small round seat with no back. We were seated right next to kitchen. The seating was less than desirable. Waiter took forever to bring me my glass of water and when asked for plates only got 2 for a party of 6. The appetizer fries and onion rings were good. My chicken dinner was awful. The chicken tasted like burnt, over grilled, dried out, no flavor chicken. The dessert was really good. I won’t good back. Seating location and comfort was awful. The food was nothing special. Dessert was good but very expensive. On reservation put we were celebrating a birthday. Told waiter twice and finally at the very end had to tell him again after we were done with dessert and when he asked us if we wanted the bill.

Yum

This is a cool fu place. We loved the white chocolate chai tea. The mac and cheese is also so tasty. Wish we had room for dessert

HORRIBLE service - good food

By Susie J |

We came for the chocolate reputation & ate before a show. Thank god we were there early because the service was beyond horrible. I ordered 2 eggs & bread with a cup of tea, my fried ordered a crepe & eggs with a hot chocolate. It took 30 minutes to get my eggs. Good thing I didn't wait for her food to come to eat, it was almost an hour. AND our drinks (tea & hot chocolate) came AFTER she was finished with her food. Not sure if that was the waitress - though she blamed the kitchen. The food was good & so was the portion but the wait did not make up for that.

Eat in, don't use for cateirng.

Ordered food to be delivered to office building next door for client lunch. Virtually everything was wrong.

Just amazing

Today was my first time at this restaurant and I was very excited because I love chocolate and they had one of the best chocolate desserts plus the salads were great too!

Fun place for casual dinner and delicious desserts

By SSCPgh |

Easy to make reservations for a late dinner, not very crowded and had nice table in the corner away from other diners. Server (Paul) was very attentive, helpful. Burgers, BALT were good with waffle fries. Not overwhelming portions which allowed us to share the chocolate fondue as well as dessert waffles. Delicious!

Paradise for chocoholics!

By Jerry S |

Went for dinner on a Saturday night....3 adults and a 6 & 8 year old. Had a 7:00 reservation and the place was full. Not much later the crowd thinned out, the noise level went down and we had a very pleasant meal. Our server was excellent and helped guide the choices. This is really a place for dessert. They offer up burgers and excellent sandwiches and a few dinner entrees. The web site shows their full menu. The selection of desserts involving chocolate is awesome!

Never again!!!

By Mike |

We were driving in from RI and called Max Brenner around 8 hoping to get in for dinner. They said they were very busy and that they close at 10 and the latest they could seat us would be 9:30. Got to the Doubletree which is one block from the restaurant around 8:40. Threw our bags in the room and walked over to Max. Walked in at 9:11 with plenty of empty tables some clean but most needed to be cleaned. We were told that if they could get a table cleaned before 9:30 we could order. I think their trick is they leave dirty tables to not have to do any more new customers. Nobody bothered to look at us or even bothered to clean the table. We were only a family of 5 they obviously weren’t interested in seating us! We knew we weren’t wanted!!!! Never again!

More than choclate desserts

By Cheryl B |

Had a pre-theatre brunch here with friends before seeing a show. There weren't many people in the restaurant, but that didn't stop us. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who quickly explained the menu to us and made suggestions. The food was tasty and the portions sufficiently large. Everyone around us seemed happy. We were disappointed to miss dessert since we were full. it would be good place to stop by AFTER a show too.

Dreadful experience

By fabheath |

Long waits and very rude staff at this location, including the manager, Isaiah. We asked the waiter to exchange a bottle of prosecco because it was flat 9obviously opened hours before) and the manager eventually asked us to leave. It was my wife's birthday. Thank you Isaiah

We walked here after dinner on a warm spring day. We were seated right away. We had a lovely server she was very sweet and helpful. They have all kinds of desserts. Amazing dessert menu not for people on any kind of diet! We had chocolate ice cream with warm brownie and strawberries. We tried a deconstructed tiramisu which was ok..the lady finger was not the best and I was expecting a luscious chocolate but it was alright. We had the fondue which is always their specialty. It was a nice experience.

A kid's delight

By Viajante-gigante |

A friend and I took our daughters here recently and they absolutely loved it (we liked it, too). What's not to like? Crepes, chocolate, milkshakes, burgers, great fries, and more. Fun-enough atmosphere. Services was typical for a mid-range restaurant.

Fantastic Chocolate Experience!

By SkysMommy4 |

Couldn't give the 5th star because the service is ridiculously slow! Painfully slow and we had the first reservation of the day. It doesn't get worse than that. My son had the mac and cheese burger it was fantastic. Their salad was not great. The chocolate experience was fantastic, even with our dry waitress. If they had a bit more personality in general that would be great. The employees are working at the closest thing to Willy Wonkas Chocolate factory but you would read that on their faces. We expected them to be a bit more on the happy/friendly side but there aren't. Again, they do a fabulous business because of the Chocolate so I guess they think they can skimp on the friendly staff..oh, and save your money before you go because it cost a fortune! did I mention the Chocolate everything is fantastic.

Max Brenner, A.K.A, Land of Chocolate

By Jamie O |

We were downtown for a cool event this past Sunday and we really wanted to have dessert afterwords. So we decided on Max Brenner. This place has tons of desserts that are scratch made and most have some sort of chocolate on them that is made in house. It literally runs through the walls. It ends up behind the bar and comes out of a huge tube, it pretty insane. Again we were just here for dessert, but they have a full food and drink menu with what seems like great options. I can’t comment on those menu items because we didn’t try anything from those sections on this visit. We walked in at about 3:00 on Sunday. They were pretty busy. We wanted to sit at the bar and there were open seats. The hostess was happy to let us make our own way over there. She was friendly and inviting. We walked up to the open seats and the bar was dirty. It looked as if someone probably just vacated that area, so it wasn’t like the bartenders were not keeping up with cleaning. It just needed a quick wipe. Before we even pulled out the bar stools to sit, a very nice young lady that was bartending already was wiping down the bar top for us. She greeted us, got us menus and was very friendly. We let her know we were just getting dessert and she said no problem, and gave us a minute to look. She came back over to take the order. We had a couple questions about the dessert we wanted. She had fast and detailed answers that seemed genuine and unscripted. We decided on this chocolate cake sunday for 2 thing. We just wanted to make sure it wasn’t overly gigantic for us to handle. After she explained the portion size we were good to order. I had a beer, and my girl got water. The desert came out in about 5 minutes maybe less. It looked exactly how the bartender described it and it was great. She set us up with napkins and 2 spoons and checked on us after a minute. She did a really good job and didn’t make us feel rushed. We were chatting it up and we actually sat for a while and never felt like we were overstaying our welcome. We asked for the check, she brought it right over and grabbed it as soon as we were ready. As far as dessert goes you really can’t go wrong here. I highly recommend you check it out. I’m looking forward to going there again and trying some of their other food options. A word of caution is all I will offer if your heading here. First off, if your bring kids, be prepared to really help them through the menu. There are a lot of options and I’m sure for a little one it’s probably difficult to choose from all that chocolate and sweet stuff they offer. It seems super kid friendly though so don’t let that scare you away. Also be realistic and patient if you are there and you order adult beverages. I can foresee them taking a minute or 2. This is not to say the bartenders are slow or that they need more of them. Not at all. In fact they were fast, clean and they had a large staff working back there even on a Sunday afternoon. But they have regular drinks and cocktails, complex dessert martinis, cocktails, milkshakes, tea and coffee. And the bartenders seem to be responsible for making all that stuff!!! Those kinds of drinks take time to make. So give them an extra minute, hopefully the item you choose is worth the wait, if it even takes long. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. We really enjoyed it here, hope you do too.

They're busy, so they dont care.

We went for the kids on our trip to Philly. We've been here before so we know you don't come for the food. We made reservations a month in advance so the kids would be happy. We got stuck in center city traffic so we called and were told we had 15 minutes grace. Wrong! The table was gone and after a series of "oh we're so sorry" and the manager: " I wasn't aware you called", we were seated 35 minutes later. The kids were not happy; neither were we. Tbe food here and the agravation don't mix.

Incredible Chocolate Experience

Amazing selection of chocolate desserts and good food .Create your own chocolate dessert is a fantastic experience for kids or adults. Super service with an amazing chocolate experience.. Paninis and burgers were good as well as the desserts

What a disappointment!!! so not following the original Max Brenner's standards...

By Semadar G |

We are known the Max Brenner's restaurants originally from Israel, and were so happy they expended to the US. We visited Philladelphia and wanted to cuddle onthe sweet memory we have of this chain restaurants from Israel. I can't even tell how big of a disappointment it was! Starting with the hostess, who was so unpleasant, we almost fell sorry for bothering her to find us a sit... The restaurant was really messy, they probably think that wiping the tables is enough, because the floor was so filthy, with napkins, straws and whatever food that fell on the floor by previous guests, our sits were full with crumbs, we had to wipe them ourselves because our waitress didn't bother to. The tables were too crowded, I understand they want to maximize the usage of space but it was too much, we were so closed to our adjacent tables that it was difficult to have a conversation, and the couple next to us had a sort of a small fire pit for dessert, each time they burned their marshmallows I had to inhale their smoke... we asked to move to another table, and we were lucky to have found a vacant one. My husband had a burger and I ordered a quinoa salad. The salad was pretty mediocre, wasn't so fresh neither flavorful, but my husband burger came with extra ingredient, he took a few bites and there it was; a long dark hair inside his patty that was pulled from the meat coated with crumbs... So gross!!! We called our server, she took it away and offered a new one, but my husband was already grossed out and declined her offer. She took it off our check and offered a dessert on the house as a compensation, but we were already reluctant of trying anything after the hair incident. She kindly took off a hot drink instead. This restaurant has nothing in common with the good old Max Brenner's chain restaurants in Israel, except the design! Needless to say, we are never coming back.

Chocolate Everywhere

By John H |

A unique restaurant with a single theme running through the menu, chocolate. Numerous dishes are infused with a variety of chocolate flavorings. But the best is dessert and make sure you save room. Order your dinner based on what you would like for dessert.

A mess!

By Kasia L |

Arming kids with syringes of tomato sauce is a terrible idea. I got squirted with it from the table next to us, as did my 2 girls. It was in our hair and all over our clothes. Waitress was unconcerned and slapped some napkins on our table. Restaurant should have at least offered to pay the dry clean bill. Oh yeah, and the food is so-so at best. Overpriced. Will not be back.

Worst service imaginable - avoid

By ScotslassTurkey |

We were so excited to take 3 kids to this restaurant for some chocolate surprises (chocolate shot, chocolate pizza and more!) But it was dreadful. The server looked thoroughly miserable - never smiled once. She mixed up order and I got a lukewarm hot chocolate (practically cold), my husband got completely the wrong drink, and when I asked her what size the pizza was she shrugged and said 4 slices. So we ordered a whole one when a half size would have done. She should have been more helpful. I really love the concept of this restaurant - novelty for chocolate lovers and kids, but the staff were so miserable and rude (also greeter and lady sitting in the shop up front who was abrupt when I asked a question). Avoid it - not worth the expense.

This is a dessert restaurant, first and foremost!

By Kristen |

Max Brenner is a cute dessert schtick that doubles as a restaurant serving meals as well. After reading reviews of restaurants near my hotel we stopped in twice, for dinner and for brunch. The restaurant is tailor made for the tween set, and on Saturday evening, there were a number of large tables of tweens happily inhaling massive quantities of chocolate and sugar with no parents around (but they were loud and happy and perfectly appropriate). This all makes sense when you realize the name is actually Max Brenner: A Chocolate Bar, Restaurant and Shop for Chocolates. I'd made a reservation and arrived nearly an hour early and stopped in just in case they'd seat us (it was Restaurant Week). The hostesses here are absolutely delightful, and were for both visits. They switched me without a problem and asked for 5 minutes to do so. The party of 2 behind me had no reservation and were quoted 2 hours, so make reservations here! We waited at the bar and got some wine and the bartenders were prompt and friendly so it was a good beginning of our visit. On both our visits, things went flat with servers. Pleasant, yes. Prompt and attentive, no. All nice kids, but no one seemed to consider this a job. We had to ask for things like spoons, missing items, and got our appetizers and entrees at the same time. And the restaurant is so loud between the music and the acoustics that I literally couldn't hear a word they said. At one point my server asked if I wanted the check and I replied yes, you can take everything from our table. So, the food. Like I said, it's a dessert place that doubles as a restaurant. Had I been more attentive to prior reviews I would have caught this. Their dessert menu is huge, creative, interesting and fun. Go here for desserts. And have fun with them! Then stop off in the gift shop and take some chocolate home or the adorable Hug Mug, Drink Me cups or Melting Chocolate Coffee Cup. The food is where the restaurant falls flat. We tried the Herb Crusted Salmon served on a bed of tomatoes, olives and spinach hash. The idea is good in theory but the food here desperately needs salt and desperately needs seasoning. The salmon was dry and overcooked and we laughed at the fact that there were three little slivers of olives on each plate, not even a full olive each. We also tried their Max's Cocoa Spiced Waffle Fries (never saw or tasted cocoa) served with a chocolate ranch sauce (odd but tasted decent) and their Black and Tan Beer Battered Vidalia Onion Rings served with a chili mayo (pretty yummy mayo), onion rings were just ok and overcooked. The next day we stopped in for brunch because it was close to the hotel. There were only two tables sitting prior to us at 10 am but lots of servers were on the clock. (So, might be worth a last minute stop in without a reservation). We'd gone in planning to eat eggs but were told that the whole menu was available including the Restaurant Week lunch. I opted for the Southwestern Caesar Salad with chili Caesar dressing and although overdressed, it was a nice Caesar with ample amounts of avocado, to boot. I added salmon as a protein and again it was overcooked and unseasoned. My dining partner opted for the Restaurant Week lunch and got the Dippers Dream Trio which was some really nice, thin, warm flatbread pieces and overly large chunk guacamole, hummus and a sundried tomato paste. All three really wanted some seasoning and the tomato paste tastes like sundried tomatoes and tomato paste from a can mixed together. Although the healthiest appetizer option, it could be tweaked a little to make it tastier, it's got potential. She chose the Grilled Chicken Caesar Waffle as her main dish and it was a very cute looking presentation. She ended up just eating the inside of the dish and felt that although it looks cute in the waffle, a nice pita might be a better choice then the waffle. She ended with the Ice Cream, which was vanilla ice cream, a large waffle cone, whipped cream, jimmies and chocolate crunchies. A little dark chocolate sauce would have completed the dish quite nicely but I couldn't catch the eye of our server, or any server, to ask (even though there were only four tables at this point). So all in all, come here for the desserts, for sure. It's a cute place, interesting ideas. But I don't think the restaurant part is their calling. I am guessing, but I wonder if underseasoning food is done on purpose for the palates of the tween set? It may be deliberate, and that's fine. Maybe add some salt and pepper you can freshly crack at the (tightly set) tables to help out the adults would be a decent compromise. Again, they've got a super host staff, they make a great first impression.

Worth it!

By Rachel Kelly |

We went for restaurant week and everything was delicious! We had a quesadilla, waffle fries, classic burger and crepes with strawberries. Everything was great and were good sized portions. The choco martini was also amazing! The presentation was so unique. I gave 4 stars because the bathrooms could use a little cleaning. There was no hand soap in the bathroom I went into. Otherwise, I definitely want to go back to try new menu items!

Dessert and drinks

By Andres72423 |

Love this place! It was an awesome change of pace. After eating at so many different places these past couple of days; I just wanted something different and this place was exactly what I wanted. I just wanted dessert and drinks and they delivered perfectly. I started with a hot chocolate and melted marshmallows. It was perfect especially after under a cold rainy evening. For my dessert I had a churro-taco waffle. The waffle was essentially a churro covered with cinnamon and sugar stuffed with vanilla ice cream, milk chocolate sauce, strawberry and blueberries and choco pops. The dessert was loaded with flavors. So good!!! The dessert was very sweet but then you bite into the berries and it provided a nice complex, tartness. Loved it! When I first got my dessert I thought I would never finish it but trust me, I could not put it down.

Chocolate paradise!

By Jen Buckingham |

A few times a year me and my hubby like to make a trip into the city to visit max Brenner! while their dinner/appetizer selection isn't very wide or diverse, their dessert is to die for! this entire restaurant is geared around chocolate and you can smell it a block away! in the gift shop area they have delicious homemade chocolates in a wide variety, and their homemade house marshmallows are to die for! the chocolate pizza was fantastic, and they even have alcoholic chocolate drinks at the bar for the grown ups, albeit their creamy, rich, hot chocolate on a chilly philly evening hits the spot so perfectly!

Yum yum Yum

By tber |

We are not big dessert people but if you are gonna have it, this is the place. We stopped in with reservations on a sat at 6:45 for dessert. 3 of us split a banana crepe and a waffle dessert. Just outstanding, couldn't even finish them all but we tried. Reservations are a must - over 2 hour wait we heard from people while waiting to be seated. Good service, excellent food, great dessert!

Chocolate HEAVEN!!!!!

By Theresa S |

What a unique place. Reminds me of the cafes in Europe. Great service; friendly and efficient. Best of all: the absolute delicious chocolate dishes. Can't get any better.

Chocolate themed restaurant all bells and whistles no substance

By Joy N |

Let me preface this by saying we just went to get dessert, the menu is VERY limited for people who have peanut allergies-which left only 2 options besides hot chocolate-chocolate cheesecake crepe (which my sister had), and the skillet cookie (which i had). So the decorum of the restaurant is VERY dim, and has a HEAVY faux chocolate smell, like a cocoa BBW candle scent not REAL chocolate. The menu is basically a step above Ruby Tuesday with chocolate infused into the item some way. The chocolate chip skillet cookie had promise, except the chocolate sauce had no taste whatsoever, and the cookie had WAYYYYYYYY too much salt on it. Like the salt was overpowering so that the chocolate was almost missing. Prices were a bit high for what you got (again we just had dessert). Wouldnt eat here again,

Won't be my only visit

By saragladden2267 |

Definitely will be returning to Max Brenner's! The food was delicious, the service was great, and they had a nice selection of entrees in case you don't want anything too sweet from their dessert menu (but why else would you go there?).

Waffle cheesesteak!!!!

For the first time I had a waffle cheesesteak absolutely delicious the staff was super friendly.....

Trendy Atmosphere, Great Food!

Dinner on a busy Saturday evening. Great service, delicious food. Dessert a must. Use Parking Panda for lot next to restaurant.

We keep coming back!

By miscalane |

We always feel compelled to try different restaurants when we come into the city and then keep coming back here. This place is hopping and the off-the-street wait times are incredibly long because it is that good. Make a reservation and come with a huge appetite! Breakfast, drinks, hot chocolates, burgers, salads, desserts, fondue...we’ve tried it all. And we would recommend it all. This time we tried the quinoa salad; my 11 year old described it as “life”. It was really the freshest salad ever. Another highlight was the sugar cookie martini. Everyone should try the shareable fondue dessert. It’s a crowd pleaser! One more bonus is that it is an easy walk from the Kimmel center!

Not worth it

By Greg A |

We were there last weekend and ordered a burger for dinner. Instead of medium it came not only overcooked but also partly burnt. You could really taste it and even ketchup did not help. The fries were overcooked, too. Our food was not fresh at all. It seemed that they heated up an old patty and old fries instead of making fresh ones. We did not enjoy our meal at all. When the waitress asked how the food was we did tell her that it was pretty overcooked and event burnt. She responded that the cooks are still learning to perfect the burger. I don't think so unfortunately. It was definitely not fresh. The desserts we ordered were okay, not great. We had very high expectations when we got there and left very disappointed. We paid $60 for one burger with fries and two desserts. I would not recommend this place.

chocolate fun

By welbymd |

great hazelnut and marshmallow hot chocolates... but small at $6 each. Went back next night for dinner and the quinoa and strawberry salads were very tasty but an extra $4 for chicken that was smaller and harder to find than the tiny cubes in the soup packages. Still, is a cute place and the core chocolates are excellent.

Must Miss

By BillM551 |

We chose Max Brenner because we were traveling with our grandson. The lemon herb chicken was moist and had a mild flavor; however, it was greasy. The roasted beet salad was delivered with wilted lettuce and a thick dressing that looked muddy. Could not find the roasted beets. Service was disappointing. We will not return.

Disappointing

By katnpm10 |

We went for dessert, expecting something great and were disappointed! We ordered their large chocolate cake sundae for 2. The cake was dry and boring aka Duncan Hines. It was topped with Redi Whip, sprinkles and not very exciting ice cream. Step it up a notch! You have chocolate in your name.

Who doesn't love chocolate!!

By Khloud M |

I'm in love with this place.. Every time I tried new dish and they are amazing!! Try the chocolate pizza :D Not good for the diet but it's okay to try once a while!!

Tasty overpriced and crowded

By Gregory-n-Denise |

The food was decent ... not great The place felt dated and was a bit crowded for the noon time lunch crowd

Are we in a rush?!

By slburse |

Overall atmosphere was energetic and the food was pretty good. What I did not care for was feeling rushed during and towards the end of our dinner. While I know it was busy, there was no need to offer take home boxes for leftovers while we were still eating. I think this establishment would be better suited strictly for cocktails and dessert, skip the dinner.

Good food

By ADC |

We came for dinner and dessert. When you open the door the aroma of chocolate immediately hits you. The front of the restaurant has a store area where you can buy bars and treats. We were quickly seated (had a reservation) and then ordered a chocolate martini (dark chocolate), which came with a chocolate covered strawberry garnish. It was very good. Cobb salad and burger were delicious. The waiter kindly advised us that the flatbread pizza is huge, so our kids split one. We ordered the s’mores sundae for dessert. The best part was the peanut butter; dig deep to reach it. The restaurant was definitely noisy and the waiter seemed very busy, but overall we enjoyed our visit and would return. Kids loved it, of course!

Food was amazing

By KLee |

Food was very good, leave room for dessert. Split a entree or get and appetizer instead. Service was a little slow but I think they were just a little understaffed for a Monday night.

Dessert the is the star, everything else is a weak supporting cast

By thinktankjp |

Dinner with the kids here is fun - they are super excited about going to a place centered around chocolate. Rightfully so. The moment you walk in the door the aromas of cocoa greet you. The payoff from dinner - dessert - is done well and Max Brenner offers enough to satisfy anyone with a sweet tooth. If you go for dinner though, don't expect to be stunned by appetizers or entrees. These courses definitely take a back seat to the finale. The cheeseburger was cooked as requested and juicy, but something I've had elsewhere. Salads and other options are standard pub fare for the most part. Desserts are chocolaty and decadent as you'd expect from a chocolate restaurant. They are also large (even the kids options) so don't hesitate to share. Milkshakes are thick and rich. The kids chocolate pizza is what you'd expect and arrives to wide eyes. Service felt a bit rushed even though the restaurant was only half full when we were there. I appreciate a prompt greeting from a server but asking for drink orders as we sit is awkward. Glad we went and the kids liked it, but not a "must" in my book.

Cool place!!!

By Issa Maalouf |

Cool place... Very friendly staff... Good service... Great atmosphere and setting... Nice music... You can be served on the bar or on a table... Desserts are so delicious... Chocolate is so delicious too... I had many wonderful experiences there... I will be coming once again one day for sure... It is highly recommended!!!

nice regular menu, then a menu just for chocolate

By DrGoldin |

Max Brenner is famous for chocolate, of course (they have a chocolate gift shop, as you'd expect), but the regular items on the menu are pretty tasty too: salads, flatbreads, burgers, etc. Just order light, because, chances are, you're looking forward to dessert.

Okay Experience

By Andi C |

This was my 2nd time there with family. The food wasn't okay, some dishes were better than others. The mac n cheese, however, was NOT that good as it was the first time around - could be change in chefs. We were a little bit disappointed in the desserts which is really why we went. A couple of us got the fondue for two and it almost seemed like a serving for one. We asked the waitress if we could have a few extra pieces of fruit but she said we had to pay for that so we declined it. The presentation is very nice but if you want a true fondue experience, go to the Melting Pot. I have to say, this place is very expensive so if you're thinking of trying it as a nice cheap eat you definitely want to look elsewhere. I don't think I'll be rushing back anytime soon. But overall, it was okay.

Service was poor. No holiday decorations?!?!

By Helene L |

I have been to the Max Brenner in NYC. The Philly restaurant is nowhere near as nice or as good. Our food came out at all different times, the last person to be served the meal got it 20 minutes after the first. No apology or anything from the server. Today is December 18, and not one holiday decoration in the restaurant. The area where you buy gift items had no price tags on anything. This is crazy! Come on people. We would have had better service / food at a fast food place. Sorry, I never give bad reviews but total disappointment. And I only gave a 15% tip and I can't remember the last time I did that. Service was AWFUL.

Chocolate Happiness!!!

By 918kendrad |

The whole atmosphere of this place is fantastic. The hostess actually helped us map out our whole trip to NY the next day! We just went in for dessert and it was so delicious-the plating was great too!! My son and I were wishing that there was a Max's where we live!!

Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate

By AJCC1 |

I absolutely love this place! It's always my first stop in Philly. Their homemade chocolate is amazing. I enjoy their Italian thick hot chocolate as well as the milkshakes. The Mac and cheese was delicious as well!

Sweet as expected

By DayTrip180560 |

I wasn’t disappointed but I would say I was underwhelmed. The desserts were huge, I suggest sharing. The milkshakes were a sugar overload, my son felt his was just too sweet to drink, and I felt like most things came with too many chocolate ( white chocolate, milk chocolate, chocolate ganache). I would’ve liked the option to pick and choose less. Overall it was delicious, but they also really go for turnover there. We enjoyed the experience but wouldn’t go back for a second round

Enjoyed our lunch here!

By kiwizoe |

Came in for lunch during the week. We ordered flatbread pizza to save room for desert. Had the crepes for desert and they were delicious! Would definitely go back.

I never knew there were so many ways to enjoy chocolate.

By alcsubscriptions |

I really enjoyed going to this shop with my family. The atmosphere was fun and upbeat. The service was attentive. I was disappointed with the gift shop. The staff did not have a good understanding of the products. I was looking for gluten free and nut free for one of my purchases and would have appreciated a little more help than reading every label in the store. I did end up buying some amazing tasting chocolates and did not find one that was gluten and nut free. That does not mean it was not there.

Lunch in the city

Went for a family lunch over the holidays. It was very crowded but the place is small. My kids got the cookie shake. OMG it was fabulous! Good burgers. Very loud with all the kids but it was good

Birthday dinner with grandma & daughter

By LillyKitty1972 |

I was excited to take my mom and daughter to this restaurant for their birthdays. However, I wasn't impressed. We waited even though we had a reservation. The waiting area is small, cramped and in the middle of the chocolate store which is insanely dark you couldn't even see what you were shopping for. The restaurant was packed and so ver loud we couldn't really hold a conversation. Our table was uneven and rocked all through dinner never fun! Dinner choices were minimal and mostly junk. Dessert is where this place stands out. I'd suggest going for a nice meal elsewhere and popping in here for dessert.

Delight

By MarathonMomof4 |

Tight quarters don't do me well, and it's tight. And we had reservations for an early dinner, and we made them two weeks in advance. But our table? It wasn't ready when we got there. We had to wait 15 minutes for what -- for a high bar table -- the only one set right by the kitchen door. That was our first impression. So here I was, a nearly 50-year-old woman with an injured back who gets shoved to a table meant for having cocktails for my dinner after a day at the museum. This isn't going well. Well, the server clearly could tell by my face that this wasn't happening. She was a smart woman. She quickly brought us water and said she make magic happen. Within 5 minutes, she got us a regular table and moved us so we could sit at chairs with backs. From there, the food made us forgot the bad start. I had a the chocolate with waffles. Truly divine. The waffle was perfect: fluffy, sweet, slightly crisp. My daughter was celebrating her 11th birthday, so she had the build your own cake. It was adorable and delicious - and she loved the hands-on experience! Totally worth it!

Great fun, a little expensive

By jadenb1983 |

This place was really fun! I took my daughter and her two best friends as part of her birthday weekend celebration. We loved the atmosphere of the restaurant and the way it smells like chocolate as soon as you walk in!! The food was good but nothing extraordinary and IMO a little overpriced... I felt like it wasn't any better than what I can get for dinner for less at a standard casual dining chain restaurant... But the chocolate shakes and desserts are fabulous! I think next time we would go just for treats and do dinner elsewhere. Our service was also a bit slow for late on a Friday evening. My daughter and I both got the frozen italian chocolate drink and it was SO rich- neither of us could finish it. We easily could have shared one!

What a great experience!!! From the greeters to our waitress (with her amazing bubbly personality/demeanor), everything and everyone made our night magical Check out our bites.....

Amazing!!

By olivia_5151 |

While this place is rightfully known for its unique desserts, one has a variety of other foods to choose from for lunch or dinner. The waiter was friendly and helpful with his recommendations and I had an amazing meal. After lunch when it came to picking dessert, there were so many options and each one looked delicious. I finally decided on their version of tiramisu and it was excellent!! All of my friends also enjoyed their meals and desserts as much as I did. If you are visiting Philadelphia, this place should be on the top of your to-do list.

Best Mac & Cheese and Chocolate Fondue

By rayjay80 |

Had previously been to the NYC location so we made reservations to be sure to get a table for 6. Everyone had one of the Mac & Cheese variations for main course. Everyone loved it. Then we shared the Chocolate Fondue. Best dessert around!!

Great as Always

By crutt13 |

I've been here a few times but finally decided to post. As a chocolate lover it's always a great start when you walk into a room and the smell of chocolate permeates the air. This is what you get when entering Max Brenner. The restaurant is always clean and staff are almost always quick to seat, take your order and deliver one of the many delicious meals. Today was no exception. The menu is full of can't miss items and unusual spins on standard fare, such as the fries with cocoa, the chocolate pizza and so on. I haven't had something that I haven't enjoyed. The burgers are cooked right and taste awesome. The Cobb salad is loaded with chicken, bacon, blue cheese crumbles and avocado and is well balanced well with a cilantro lime dressing. The breakfast burrito was exploding with egg and potatoes and the hot chocolate is to write home about. Whether you want the chocolate or a great meal without the chocolate you can get it here!

Arrogant, Heedlessly Detached

By LTCJJFOODIE |

Never before have I been treat with the volume of habitual repugnance which I and by proximity, my family suffered from the management of this organization. In way will I return. My goal will to make certain that others find out how this well traveled, retired field grade was treated. 1, never was seated. 2, sat at the bar for over an hour and a half only to be told (to my face) that I was mistaken and had never provide our names to the hostess. 3. nor would accommodation be made. This particular guess is not use to having a pismire ruin an evening.

So Much Deliciousness!

By Jazica |

Our first time eating here. The staff was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was fun and as close to Willy Wonka's factory as I'll ever get. My sons (6 and 8) and I shared the fondue. We loved the two types of chocolate and melted toffee. The dish even included a place to roast marshmallows before dipping them in the fondue. The sides for dipping were plentiful. The fruit was fresh and the sweets were addictive. We will definitely return to try more desserts.

So good

By ETHAN |

So good. Some people underestimate the food and I liked and the desert is great and it has a great location

Ideal for the dessert.

By Cheryl F |

It's not a very upscale location as they are planning renovations and are in definite need of them. The address on Google maps is deceiving as it says 1500 Walnut, but they are actually on 15th Street. The meal was average, the desserts---very good! Not many gluten free choices either-just salads.

I bribed my 10 year old to attend a manners class this fall. Lunch here was the reward. Two 10 year olds had fun. The best part is looking over the menu. Tables were a little small and close to others and waiters path. I felt a little claustrophobic. Wish we were seated in another area. The waiter was friendly and the boys liked him. The salted Carmel hot chocolate with homemade whipped was delicious, not so hot though and an ABSOLUTE MESS to drink. One is suppose to cup it in both hands, well it all dropped all over and was an avalanche. It was delicious just bring your wipes. I wish it would have been in a traditional mug. Also if it was hotter I wouldn’t have felt rushed to drink it. Kids liked the pasta with syringe for sauce and chicken nuggets. My salad with butternut squash was delicious. Glad they could make it vegetarian for lent. Boys had milkshakes and hot chocolate. For dessert they had crepes. They looked okay but I think we should have ordered a fondue or s’mores. We purchased some chocolate syringes from the store for siblings. The place was crowded due to a ballet letting out next door. The waiter kept apologizing. I didn’t notice but maybe that added to feeling claustrophobic.

Used to be a fan, quality has dropped

I have been to Max's in several cities in the country. My family used to love the place, especially for dessert, their specialty. We stopped in for an afternoon snack. The flatbread was soggy and limp without much flavor. We shared the dessert, chocolate mess, but the cake that made up the bottom layer tasted like a boxed mix and the ice cream was just average.

Nice place

By LMTMAN |

Wife took me there as a treat (she was treated by one of our son's, along with my daughter and two daughter-in-laws as a Mother's Day gift - even had a limousine back and forth). Ordered the cheesy Mac with chorizo and shrimp. I knew it wasn't chorizo because it was grey and not spicy. We told the Manager who checked and agreed and he was very attentive to the issue and corrected things. Had my first chocolate martini and it was very good. The waitress could have been more attentive and friendlier but the Manager made up for that with his personality and super friendly demeanor. It was a pretty good experience.

Excellent hot chocolate

By dee2jayz |

Stopped here on very cold night in January. Of course we ordered hot chocolate. It was definitely the best hot chocolate I have ever had. I ordered the cheesesteak waffle sandwich it was fabulous. The desserts looked incredible was too full to order any, will definitely be back.

underwhelmed

By displaynoname |

Only ordered a milkshake to go. Waited for about 15 minutes right at the bar for that to be made. Bar was a mess, not what patrons want to see right where the food is prepared. Workers looked disorganized. I heard one waitress ask the person making the drinks what the drink was. Ok that's fine. But then it just sat there for several minutes until the other drink was made and then she brought both to the table. Again, would not want my food just sitting where everyone is just walking by. Yuck. Milkshake was good, not worth $10! Glad I tried this myself before making a big trip with the kids because now I won't bother.

Splendid

Warm and rich appeal to every sense - you smell it and see it and taste it when you step in the door. It’s relaxing and so , so enjoyable in a sense that I’ve never encountered in any other restaurant - it’s so unique , but not quirky , so it’s its own level of great . We did have one rude , impatient , snobby host and waitress , but even that unpleasant of a person can’t tarnish the gleaming reputation of Max Brenners or put the good / bad scale in imbalance ; it’s that phenomenal .

A Dessert Lover’s Dream!

By curlyKar24 |

We came here with my family hoping to cover all food preferences and thankfully, it did. The restaurant isn’t huge, and neither is their actual food menu but both satisfied. Our server was friendly, the food arrived fast and everything was prepared perfectly. Thankfully we ordered with leaving room for dessert in mind. Chocolate and desserts are the real star of the show here. The milkshakes were incredible, waffles amazing and crepes were out of this world! Definitely recommend for anyone with a sweet tooth!

Unique and delicious desserts!

By Sarah H |

We all loved this place! The whimsical Willy wonka-esque decor is fun. They have a wide selection of unique and decadent desserts. We had sundaes, milkshakes, and an affogato. Everyone was happy! Our server was fast, friendly, and helpful. We will visit again!

Yummy!

By mdgipsy |

We made reservations for 1015 pm for dessert after a show. Glad we did as walk ins were being told they could be seated at midnight! Milk shakes were good, not a lot of volume for $8 each. The crepes were very good. A bit pricey as 1 shake and 2 crepes with tip was about $50.

Nice place for lunch and some great desserts

By Sheldon J |

The service was great and the menu for lunch was very affordable. Great desserts. Try the Frozen Lemonade it was great.

Terrible service and forced 20% gratuity.

By Elizabeth K |

Arrived at 4pm yesterday and had reservations for 6. Ordered an appetizer and drinks and meals. Was brought appetizer and no plates provided. Waitress never came back to check on us during entire meal, all of us had empty drinks and water glasses, had to get napkins from adjacent table. I had to flag down another server to get water. Saw our waitress chit chatting near kitchen. Food was ok but really limited “food” menu. Should have had dinner elsewhere and maybe dessert here. The KICKER was she automatically got a 20% gratuity due to size of party. I was going to complain to manager but didn’t want to bother. Probably wouldn’t return here again.

Not what I expected

By Catie G |

I have been wanting to visit Max Brenner for the longest time. Sunday I FINALLY had the opportunity to go and I can not tell you how much I regretted it. First they sat us in a terrible seat. Along the backside of the curved wall which felt like a walk way, No problem, we ask to be moved. I felt like they were annoyed we did which is what took the server so long to even greet us. Now I do not hold that against the server to much as I am a server and understand it maybe they sat you to many tables at one time. Mind you there was so many workers that just walked by us never saying a word. My chocolate Martini was great, can not complain there. My boyfriend did not get the beer he ordered by knowing how long this took he didnt bother to say anything. I ordered a southwestern ceaser and there was nothing in it the menu stated it would. It was literally a plain ceasar salad. My boyfriend got the mac and cheese burger cooked medium, it deff came out well done. I should have just came in for chocolate fondue but after my lunch I wanted no parts in coming back . Which I didnt. For the Real let down, it was like a chuck e cheese in there. Im fine with birthdays and kids, but I thought I was coming into a nice place. There was kids screaming and running around everywhere. Needless to say I love chocolate, and dessert, and fondue but I will be looking else where in the city.

Excellent food, Wonderful service!!!!

By suepr3 |

We went there on a Saturday night and this little gem was moderately busy. We were seated right away and our server was warm, attentive and welcoming gal named Lily. She made suggestions for both drinks and food, (the white chocolate russian, the waffle cheesesteak, the original mac & cheese) of which we ordered all three. The service was great and we received our food hot and ready in no time at all! It was delicious!! Once that was consumed we knew we had to order dessert for which they were famous, (they have an attached chocolate shop). My husband ordered some kind of HUGE peanut butter sundae and I ordered a "build it yourself sundae". Once again we were delighted. At the end we called the manager over to tell him how wonderful our server was and he was just as delightful! We now know that we will return to this restaurant every time we visit Philly!!!

Yummy!

By eok3027 |

I love the turkey club waffle sandwich, and my husband likes the cheese steak waffle sandwich. Of course the desserts are great!

No place like it

By Janet F |

Food is good, service is usually good, too, but it is ALL about the amazing chocolate desserts here! We come every time we're in Philly. Highly recommend making advance reservations in the evening and on weekends.

Just OK

By Holly J |

We had a reservation and were seated immediately right next to other diners though there were empty tables. Waited quite a while for our server, who was good when he was there. The food was good, dessert was yummy but I was still underwhelmed. I would go back but not a “must” do.

Great food for a chocolate place

By mariniac |

Our last visit to Max's was by far the best yet. Food is usually average as I think they focus on their chocolate items which is their specialty. However, we were pleasantly surprised as our food was superb this time at Max's. Burgers and mac and cheese were great but the BLT was phenomenal! My wife loves the chocolate martini so would recommend trying if you like that sort of thing. Service was good and friendly. Thanks for a great lunch!

Great for lunch

By Kim W |

We stopped in here for lunch while visiting the city. All of our meals were very good, and our server was fantastic. Sadly we did not save room for dessert, but they looked amazing from what I saw served to others.

Chocolate Is One Thing, But Where's The Beef?

By Lee5608 |

Stopped in here for dessert after a tremendous dinner. I have never heard of the place and was intrigued. I should have kept on walking. The four of us walked in and were told it would be a 45 minute wait. When we turned to walk out the hostess suddenly found a seat for us immediately. We ordered the Chocolate Martini (which my fiancee actually loved) the The Melting Chocolate True Heart Cake & Shake. The shake was tiny, but good. But the cake was hard and there was no melted chocolate inside. We also got the The S’more Concoction (ok, but not great) and the Pure Chocolate Granita shake. Again. Alright, but not the best we had. Overall, it was touristie, over crowded, over priced and really not that great.

Not worth a 3 hour wait

By Bill F |

Stopped by a little after 4 o’clock and was advised that the first opening would be at 7:15. Had been in Philadelphia to visit the Christmas village and thought to stop by for some hot chocolate. Food was average at best different varieties of chocolate is what makes the visit unique.

Chocolate Coma!

By Melissa S |

This place is ridiculous - so good! The first time my husband and I went we got the chocolate martinis and a peanut butter sundae. I was basically in a chocolate coma and had to be rolled out. The second time we went I got a sandwich with waffle fries (which are dusted with chocolate) and the Mexican hot chocolate. The Mexican hot chocolate was more than likely the best hot chocolate I have ever had. If you like the mixture of sweet and spicy definitely try it! If you don't have a big sweet tooth don't shy away because the savory food is also worth tasting.

Tasty Chocolate Treats

By Katie W |

We had an afternoon chocolate treat here, though there is a wide selection for full meals. If you're a chocolate lover, this is the place for you! Wide selection of chocolate drinks and snacks, it was difficult to decide what to have! They also sell packages of chocolate, which are a good treat to bring home.

Chocolate

By MikeDorsey |

Went here with four year old granddaughter. Had the chocolate fondue. Marshmallows. Strawberries. Brownies. Cookies. Waffle with whipped cream. Fun experience, warning. There is fire involved. We had a great time.

Good desserts

By indyband |

The desserts here are very good and worth the trip, but I would not personally go here for the food. It is more of a fun place for a special dessert. Easy to get to and parking nearby.

Quick Lunch

By John379 |

Stop in for a quick lunch while showing some family around the city. Place was empty and we ordered some salads. The service was really slow maybe 30 or 35 minutes to get the food, but the salads were good.

Chocolate anytime

By Brian M |

We went for brunch and the chocolate pancakes are literally a cake with sprinkles and chocolate sauce. Eggs were good, and any hot chocolate is very expensive $6 for 6oz. But it is good.

Chocolate heaven!!

By review guru |

If you love chocolate, this is a must-visit place!! They have modified and transformed chocolate into different amazing and mind bending ways that will blow you away!!! The concept is so novel and menu is well executed.Excellent place for a date!

Chocolate doesn't get any better

By Ankul D |

Incredible deserts which promise to hit the spot. A huge selection of super super chocolately cakes, ice cream, milk shakes

It's that good I make my husband get his own dessert

By Jamie C |

I have to be honest... this is my second review for Max Brenner but it's that heavenly. This is a must stop for my husband and I whenever we are up from Baltimore. I started looking at the menu two weeks in preparation and even the morning of our visit I was mulling over all the choices. The desserts are so amazing that I do not share with him. We both get something different so we can taste test each other's choice. I ordered the Churro-Taco Waffle. It's a waffle rolled in cinnamon sugar and filled with berries, vanilla and chocolate ice cream. It's a bit messy because it's served on a slab with no edges but well worth it. My husband ordered the Baked Cookie Dream and it's definitely large enough to share. The title says it all, a freshly baked chocolate chunk cookie in a skillet topped with vanilla ice cream and it was dreamy. I admit we ate it all and was stuffed but it's totally worth it. I'm already thinking about what I want to try next (Chocolate Crepe "Pasta").

Annual New Year’s Wknd Visit

By dbailey3167 |

Our annual trip to Max Brenner’s for after dinner desserts in Philly was unfortunately our 2nd straight disappointment. We had the (6) College/HS ages cousins sit together and the four adults seated separately. We asked to see the Manager when we had yet to receive our orders and watched the kids complete their desserts; and tables that had been seated after us receive their orders before ours arrived. To their credit, the Manager and waitress did apologize AND gave us our order for NO CHARGE! Thank you! Ultimately though, we won’t be returning because the desserts are just “ok” there are other options in Philly to get great desserts.

Max Brenners is dead

By Truth |

A few years ago I went to the NYC location and i had the time of my life and the greatest "high class" food/service I could want. This Philly location was a VERY LOW CLASS experience Disclaimer: I'm writing this honest and direct review from the perspective of a waiter with over 7 years experience waiting tables. Some employees looked homeless. One host had torn torn/broken shoes which was completely indecent. The lady in the front was wearing some hoodie which was very unprofessional. I get better service at my local Wendys. My $13 margarita tasted like a non-alcoholic juice. Waiter said he's sorry about that and proceeded to do nothing. The hot chocolate that was way too milky instead of chocolatey considering you're a chocolate restaurant... My opinion is it's likely a management issue along with an overall lack of values and self respect as a company in general. It's sad to see but RIP Max Brenners

Chocolate Heaven..pricey

By juliebI8555NY |

The food here I can't speak to but the crepe that we ate for dessert was delicious. For 45 dollars we got two drinks and one dessert. They don't have a lot of hot drinks besides hot cholocate but they made their normally served cold espresso drink hot for mewhich I thought was pretty nice. I will be back, the mac and cheese looked delicous

DELICIOUS!!!

By Randy C |

Incredible everything!! You don’t want to miss this amazing treat!! Highly recommend the fondue to share! You won’t be disappointed!!

Another good time

By brucel1954 |

Good food and service, as always. Seemed pretty safe. Some people were sitting near us but they were facing a different direction.

I would bleed chocolate if I could

By Flounder M |

This place can get loud but the menu and food makes up for it. My table was so close to the aisle, my chair got bumped 8/10 times. Loved my server, Steven – you rock! Appetizer - waffle fries with bacon, were nice and tender Lemon Granita – super tasty, loved it so much I almost ordered another Steak Frites Royale – waffle fries were cooked a bit on the done side. 1st time I had the chimichurri sauce and it was quite good. Make your own ice cream – comes with toppings but I only used the Choco-pops and ganache. It was fantastic! You have to come back here again and again to try all the chocolate menu items.

Mediocre Expensive Chain Food with Subpar Service

By HappyNewlywed08 |

We were looking to take our young children somewhere for dinner in the city that was family-friendly but provided a good quality meal and nice experience for adults. This was not the place. First, the restaurant is much more "chain-like" than I thought it would be. It was messy and sticky and cramped and crowded and dirty and the servers were disheveled and uninterested. The food was really low quality, bland and lukewarm. The food is not good. I mean really not good. The kid pizza was cold yet overcooked. I ordered a skirt steak. It was expensive, the portion was extremely small and it didn't taste good. Even my husband's waffle sandwich was this small panini pressed looking turd with barely anything inside. The plates looked thrown together and messy. The kid's dessert "Famous Mess Party" was basically a big pile of whipped cream with a few toppings to throw on and it cost $13.00. So disappointing. I had a mojito. It was not good. The only impressive item on the menu were the cocoa waffle fries. Our server. She clearly had no interest in working. She didn't remember to bring us our drinks or half our order. She did not smile. She did not check on us. She was about one degree away from rude. Overall, it was a really poor dining experience. Do not recommend and would not return here. There are better options in Philadelphia.

Best Milkshake You'll Ever Have

By Avraham B |

My wife is a huge fan of chocolates and she believes this place to have the best chocolate milkshakes. We also had brunch, which was great.

Very good service and food.

By Juan C |

I have never been here before so I decided to try it. The seating was very close to other diners so I didn't feel to comfortable. Once the very pleasant waitress and manager spoke to us I felt alot better. The chicken wings and burgers were delicious. Our waitress was very attentive and helped to make us enjoy the visit. I tried a chocolate porter craft beer (twice lol) and it was good. I never got to try the chocolate desserts but they looked good it was only cause I was full. I will be back! I did receive a 20% off discount by showing my Franklin Institute ticket stubs.

Nice, but Noisy!

By DLR |

A night out to celebrate my Daughter's Birthday. There is a small retail area on the right when you walk in. A great selection of chocolates. We had made reservations so did not have to wait. Good thing we did as it was a Saturday night. The place was buzzing. This place was alive with lots of families with small children. Always a good sign when you see families out. I think these guys have outgrown their space. Food was good, desserts were amazing, but too many people for the space.

Incredible

By ee052496 |

My second time here was just as great as my first. This time I arrived for lunch and chose a chicken waffle cheese steak. So so tasty! Not exactly why the word waffle was in the name of the sandwich but it was impressive nevertheless. You can't go wrong. I was at a table of at least 10 and everything I looked at made me wish I ordered what they did. Can't wait to go back!

For Chocolate Lovers

By fligster |

We stopped in here for a drink and some snacks. The chocolate cocktails are a little pricey but delicious. The fries were good, but having "chocolate powder" on them is more of a gimmick as it wasn't noticeable. The onion rings were good, I didn't care for the chocolate ranch dip but others like it. I will be coming back to try some of the desserts.

Fun restaurant

By Matt J |

The atmosphere is very fun. It is mood lighted with lots of decorations and a chocolate store in front for those just seeking that. We split a burger and each had our own dessert- smore concoction and chocolate cake. There is quite a dessert selection for anyone with a sweet tooth. The food wasn't astounding, but good.

Very Good Breakfast (and dessert)

By Y8202SXthomass |

Our family had a tasty breakfast (1) French toast with white chocolate drizzle (2) strawberry crepe with Nutella and (3) egg white veggie omelet - all very good! Started with white chocolate chai tea - so amazing that I ordered a second serving. We topped off the meal with European fondue - velvety smooth chocolate, but not nearly enough items to dunk. Our server was friendly and attentive. Our only complaint was a fire alarm being tested during most of our meal - loud and annoying.

Delicious Food.

By Dominic Emery |

We went for the prix fixe menu which was excellent value for money. We got sliders and a small smores dessert for $12. Drinks reasonably priced. Servers very polite and friendly.

Such a fun menu! Difficult to decide which chocolate item to order!

By takemeaway927 |

This was my first trip to Max Brenner's and it was delightful. My friends and I enjoyed a light dinner - 2 shared a pizza, salad for me, sandwich for the other member of our group. And we ordered 2 desserts. We were on our way to see Wicked. Wish we had a little more time to spend there and a chance to browse the chocolate candies. We were there on a Wednesday evening, with several drink specials, so I was able to enjoy a very reasonably priced glass of wine (or 2). Would definitely return.

Great desert

By Jeff W |

My wife and I went to max Brenner for some chocolate fondue desert. We had the s’mores desert and it was great!

If you like Chocolate, this is a MUST!

By Mrs. K |

Oh the chocolate. This place was really cool and I will go back. I had a chocolate martini (amazing) my husband had a chocolate shake. I want to go back to try the chocolate fondue! So fun. Sure wish they sold the t-shirts the staff wore, I’d have bought one!

Skip the meals and come here for the chocolate

By Beachbum2473 |

My daughter and I came here for dinner and desserts. The meals are ok, but nothing special. My daughter got one of the Mac and cheese dishes, and it was good. I got a Cobb salad that pretty standard. Those meals plus two desserts came to $75!!!! Ripoff. I always love Max Brenner hot chocolates, and would come here just for those. Our desserts- waffles and crepes- were super chocolate sweet to the point of being inedible after awhile. Service is average, and the place is reasonably clean. All in all, I find the meals seriously overpriced for what you get and the desserts more of a chocolate overload than good chocolate desserts. Come here for the cocoas and something light and call it quits.

Winter Date Night

By Ryan d |

The night was cold, with clear skies and my wife and I embarked on a journey for the night, our first Date Night of the year! We ended our evening at Max Brenner, a quaint romantic but semi casual way to end a cold night. The wait staff was attentive and energetic with great recommendation. It was clear we had to try the chocolate fondue, dipping multiple items in different chocolate sauce SCREAMS romantic! A bit over priced for nearly cold chocolate sauce but it did the job. The hot chocolates were how ever very warm and tasty. I highly recommend you warm up with one! Great place to get saucy with your lover.
