After an extended visit at the World of Coke the troops were hungry! Easy, short walk to get here and placed the order quickly with our friendly waitress. The Sangria cocktail was quite tasty, our apps of garlic knots and stuffed shrimp were excellent and the Meat Lovers Pizza top notch. Along with everything tasting great it arrived at our table correct and in record time. The actual layout of the restaurant was very cool as well with lots of elbow room. Just what the doctor ordered.

We had a great pizza and salad. One of us needed the gluten free vegan pizza and that was great along with the regular pizza offerings. Most of us enjoyed the pizza called the traditional. Validated ( free) parking deck across the street was nice.

Went with a group of 7. They wouldn’t seat us until everyone was there, so other big groups from the same conference got seated before us. We had to sit out in the sun (no time to go to another place on our lunch break at that point), and I got a terrible sun burn (very fair skin lol). The waiter came only to take our order and never came back. We had to flag someone else down and beg for more water out there in the sun. They wouldn’t give us individual checks, which we needed to be able to turn in our food costs. They were incredibly rude about that. Food was mediocre. I would not go back here.

We walked over to Max's starving and it was a good thing we were. The 12" pie was almost a match for the daughter and I after we had gotten the anti-pasto 'tray'. I say 'tray' because it had to be a half a pound of cheese, maybe even a half pound of just the parmesan. We decided it would keep the best and took it with us. But the pie, if you like spicy sausage on your pizza theirs is made in house and is amazing. The mushrooms are also above average and the pep is the smaller euro stuff I like better than the larger American slices. Crust edge is a solid 1/2" puff and the floor is super thin. The wife got spaghetti and meatballs and as a pasta snob declared the noodles home-made. I was glad we had to walk to the game as I was stuffed. Oh yeah, and the United won!

We had heard and read good things about Max’s Coal Oven Pizzeria, but our visit here exceeded our expectations. The three pizzas we ordered were terrific, with abundant toppings and what a great crust. Service was top notch. We highly recommend this pizzeria.

We were in Downtown Atlanta and came across this restaurant. Good location and the restaurant was clean and staff friendly. We ordered lemon pepper wings, which were good and I had spaghetti meatball . Portions were good size and good quality. well priced and would return if in Atlanta again.

I stopped after the Peachtree trolley tour. I ordered at the baby and maybe waited 15minutes. The speciality pizzas are the 12" size. 6 slices to a pie. It was tasty, good size nice crust.

Delicious coal-cooked pizza. Good price, fun atmosphere, good service (gave us great advice when ordering).

Went on a Saturday night after the Aquarium, was busy but we were seated before the quoted wait time, service was quick and friendly. Lots of pizza options that all looked amazing, we had the prosciutto and arugula pie which was fantastic. They have a full bar with some specialty drinks as well as some microbrews from STATS next door.

The food was delicious! Neat family eatery. Our issues were more with service than the food. We started with one waitress and had another one take over. However, it was not made clear intiall

The pizza is very good, we got the "Tradizionale". Keep an eye on your food though, the wait staff seem to want to take it away as if you are done at the soonest opportunity, without even offering to box it for you to take home. Even though their were many tables open it seems like they are in a hurry to get you out of there or something.

Got to sit at bar with our kids, during a VERY BUSY lunch rush! We ordered a peach bellini, pizza, meatball marinara & garlic knots. We give this entire experience a perfect 10! Also appreciate the wonderful bartender (DeeJay) who didn't appear inconvenienced or put off with ANY of the busyness! He was very pleasant & fast!

If you’re staying downtown this is a very good option. Great pizza and salads. Beer. Super friendly server. Reasonable price. Not many choices near museum so glad we went here.

Meatballs were good! Tradizionale pizza was flavorful and great, but a little burnt. Pizzeria was very busy, but server was attentive with drink refills once he arrived. Caesar salad had too much dressing. Dirty tables and floors, but again very busy place kept employees very busy.

Pouring rain all day didn’t want to go far. Within easy walk of Omni CNN. Had pizza in mind but ended up eating Caprese, Chicken Parmesan and Penne sausage. Everything good. The sausage was spicy as Jessica said but enjoyable. Loved the way Caprese presented with roasted tomatoes, pesto and flatbread. Chicken Parmesan was lightly breaded and very good. May head back tonight to try other items after the game. If we go, we will request Jessica for our server, she was excellent and knew her menu well.

Took our Grandson from Omaha, NE to eat here after the Atlanta Falcons football game. We had never been here before, but came across the location by doing a search for Pizza Restaurants. Very welcoming and unique experience. Very positive vibes, fantastic wait staff. Grandson said probably the best Pizza he ever had. My wife and I live about an hour away from Atlanta but would definitely visit here again!

We stayed at a hotel nearby and decided to order sandwiches to go because it was so busy inside the restaurant. I wish we ordered pizza instead. The Italian Hero was simply not good at all. The meatball sub and Greek Salad were just OK. I recommend sticking with pizza.

We stumbled on this location, as several other restaurants were closed because of lack of staffing. We loved it! The staff was very helpful. The pizza was delicious. We also enjoyed the chicken parm, the Greek salad (very fresh and flavorful), and the meatball sub.

My granddaughter and I were visited the GA Aquarium and stayed at a very nice hotel. Max's was literally across the corner and we ate there 2 times. Great food. The first time I went it was mid afternoon on a Friday. The next day we went at noon and it was completely packed. Highly recommend.

We were in town for the Peach Bowl and surprisingly a lot of the places close early downtown. Even though it was crowded we were seated pretty quickly. Pizza was great and Caesar salad had a good amount of dressing on it (I hate a dry salad). We ate there twice when in town for 3 days. Service was great both times.

Tried to eat here a couple times and failed both times. The staff was smug and rude both times. There are a lot of dining options in Atlanta, so do yourself a favor and find them.

I enjoyed an amazing Chicken Parmesan Sandwich with a Greek Salad. The salad was amazing. I felt like I ate forever on it and still didn't finish it. The sandwich was warm and had gooey good mozzarella cheese. I would definitely go again.

The pizza was great, and so was the salad. Both the pizza and the salad were family sized for sharing. We were just two - couldn’t finish it all! Great service, lovely staff- definitely recommend!! Right across the street from the Embassy Suites! Centennial Park.

Amazing. The staff was nice and very welcoming and the food tasted better than anything I’ve ever eaten.Amazing place If you are staying in downtown Atlanta and you need dinner max’s pizza is the place to go

So so pizza..lotssss of sauce (if you’re into that) and spicy pepperonis so watch out if you’re feeding kiddos 😅

We just happened to see this when we left the parking garage for the Aquarium. And...... Wow . We are Pizza Snobs and this is definitely a Top 5 NY Style outside of NY. We had a classic pepperoni and their FONTINA & FUNGHI which was Fontina, Wild Mushrooms, Caramelized Onions, Fresh Oregano then we added pepperoni and they were making. Crisp Pepperonis, Crust was perfectly cooked, the onions melted in our mouths. What a great find.

This was the best pizza we had in the last time. The crust is absolutely perfect. But the chicken Parmesan was also delicious. We would definitely come back!

Great vibe! Outdoor seating available. Cool atmosphere. Seating and service was awesome. Pizza was tasty. We had a regular pepperoni and the Bianca. Check them out. Beer was cold! They even offer beer from Stats brew house(next door). Bushwood IPA was our favorite.

The waitress was great! Food was great! We don’t have any complaints. We highly recommend! We have a 4 year old and 20 month old.

Had lunch at Max’s while in Atlanta. Really good pizza and beer! Will definitely eat here again if in the area.

Close to the Hilton Garden Inn this is a perfect place for a pizza. Lots of choice and it was cooked very well.

We stopped at this pizzeria for take out after a 13 hour drive from Michigan. It was awesome. The staff was so friendly and efficient. The pizza was excellent. The Greek salad was one of the best I’ve had. Everyone in our family agreed that the pizza was exceptional, which is high praise from us. They also make an effort to be environmentally conscious and have biodegradable straws, which is very cool, especially considering the proximity to the aquarium and the impact of plastic on marine life.

We ordered a pizza for lunch and liked it so much we went back for dinner. The pizza was delicious and cooked just the way we liked. For dinner I had an Italian hoagie and my wife had chicken parm. Both meals were really good. Staff is friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is a vintage, but the music is hip. Best place we found in Atlanta

Late Lunch after Aquarium. Salad and pizza more than enough for 2. We took a box home for leftovers. Great service and quality food.

Are here with friends and colleagues and our service was excellent. The pizzas was served hot quickly and was absolutely fantastic. Great place to have pizza.

We were staying at the Hilton almost across the street and pizza sounded good. This did not disappoint. Great food & great service. The coal oven delivered excellent pizzas!

We need charge in ours telephone and the waitress accept charge ours telephone the manager send ours telephone with out charge because she don’t want

We stopped here for lunch after visiting the Civil Rights museum, and enjoyed a pepperoni and sausage pizza, as well as a meatball sub. Everything was delicious, the atmosphere was casual and modern, and the service was excellent. Highly recommended.

Back in late 2019, I dined here for a quick lunch in between sightseeing at the GA Aquarium and Centennial Olympic Park. My appetite was pretty intense, and I will always remember how effectively the pizza at Max’s filled me up and gave me the energy I needed! I confidently give this eatery five stars. The service was friendly and prompt, and the atmosphere is casual and open. The restaurant’s location is convenient to most downtown ATL attractions too. What’s not to love?! Check it out and support local here!

By far Max’s is a better pizza place. Pizza was excellent and made with a crust fired in brick oven. Service was quick and attentive. Much better than a standard pizza chain.

A baked pizza that is crispy and with a lot of flavor. We went with my wife for lunch. The service is fast and very attentive. For starters we ordered a Caesar salad and then a prosciutto, arugula and caramelized onion pizza. Everything is excellent, I totally recommend it

Came in on a cold, windy Saturday night & the place was PACKED. We were able to get seated quickly & our server was super friendly. The husband & I had margaritas & the margarita pizza. PHENOMENAL. Our kids had pepperoni pizza & root beers. We were served quickly but didn’t feel rushed. We all left with happy bellies. Highly recommend.

The pizza was delicious. The staff was friendly and brought over a ball of pizza dough for my 5 yr old to play with while we waited for our meal.

We visited twice whilst on vacation in Atlanta from the UK. We enjoyed both visits. The pizzas were delicious as was the Caesars salad. The atmosphere inside was really nice and the staff were very welcoming. Overall we would recommend anyone to try this place.

This place is an easy walk most places downtown and from the stadium/arena (for a post-game meal). It has a nice outdoor seating area - the drawbacks for that are immediately on the street and not rain covered). Not a big place inside, but the wait is worth the pizza. Quite good and good service.

For me it’s about the crust and the sauce. The crust, though burned on the edges- which I like- was floppy in the middle- which I don’t. Sauce was near non existent. “Kettle chips” which I took to be homemade- were a tiny premade bag. I liked the pasta salad. It, at least, seemed homemade.

First the food. Pretty good meatball sandwich. 3 on the roll but a 4th was put on by request quickly and with no problem. Pizza was pretty good also. Wood fired oven. Big Caesar salad the wife and daughter enjoyed it. The stars of the show was the bartender/waitress Alexis and the manager Jason who flew around the place with the other employees taking care of all the customers. NOBODY waited. Fast service by all the other employees also. Price was fair. The bartender kept a smile on her face on a very busy night.

Me and my husband were in town for a football game and decided to try out this restaurant because it was close to the hotel. They were very busy so there was a bit of a wait which was not a problem. Once we were seated, the food actually came out pretty quick. We both had pizza and it was delicious! You can tell the pizza crust was fresh and it was cooked just right. We would definitely visit again when back in town.

Although their 2 flanking sister institutions were completely booked for private LSU functions on Championship Saturday, Max’s was a welcoming oasis . Mind you, they were jammed and overtaxed. However, everyone was bustin’ butt to take care of us, and doin’ it with a smile! Sure, the overcrowded bar meant waiting a few minutes for our drinks. But once they got to us, handled our complex and large drink order with aplomb. Pizza service outside was friendly, accommodating, and quite efficient. Brick oven pies were top flight. Really enjoyed the vegetarian! Could’ve charged half again more than they did, yet servings and quality were generous. Nice surprise for a Championship weekend. Only conceivable complaint is a one-holer in the men’s room. Led to long waits in line, but ya can’t have everything, can ya? It was a perfect spot for Tigers to whet their appetites for that Championship. These guys were champs in their own rights!

This restaurant is walking distance from the Aquarium, and was a great choice for kids. Pizza was normal - not as good as some other coal fire pizzas I have had but still tasty. Servers were fun and good with the kids.

Very good food in a fun (not too loud, not too quiet ambiance. Cocktails prepared by Brandon were simply fabulous, as was the service.

Max’s was a great restaurant for our pizza loving kiddos! The pizza was good. One was cooked a little too long! Ty was our waitress and she provided us with amazing service.

Great coal oven pizza, menu could use a little more variety, but what I had was excellent. Service was a little slow for a small early evening crowd.

We shared a pizza. It was one of the best pizza we ever had. Quick service, small place but very nice inside. Service was efficient and we left there full. Recommend.

We were staying at The Embassy Suites down the street and were looking foe a quick dinner. The bellman recommended Max's Coal Fired Pizza. We walked from the hotel, which is close to the convention center, so it's convenient. The pizza was hand thrown and fresh, good flavor and the place was crowded, which means it's popular. We recommend it.

We arrived not knowing this restaurant, but needed a quick lunch. Fabulous food.. all 3 of us are everything up. Service was excellent.. pizzas are big, so recommend you share. Highly recommend it.

Actually ate here twice during my visit to Atlanta. The first visit had great service. Pizza was good. The salad was just so-so, although easily enough for two people to share. The second visit, the place was super busy. We tried to order drinks at the bar while waiting for a table. We ended up getting a table after 15+ minutes and still unable to get a drink. I think the bartender was running credit cards for the entire restaurant. Way too much for one person.

We got food to go through Grub Hub. It took over 2 hours. The delivery person stayed in contact with us and let us know that the order was not placed until she arrived. She used her own money to tip the person requesting that it be rushed. The food was very good but management and service seem to be an issue.

Ate here when I was downtown with coworkers for a trade show at the World Congress Center. We were seated promptly and the staff was friendly at this site. Overall the food was good, especially the garlic knots! However we had a couple of issues: 1- the table we were seated at was shaky, and would constantly tip back and forth as we ate and 2- the wait staff needs to better time when they bring out food. I ordered some Spaghetti while my colleagues ordered a pizza, which came out 15 minutes before the rest of our food resulting in me eating while everyone else watched, and then everyone else eating while I waited. All in all, an average restaurant that serves good food and needs to focus on a couple of issues, otherwise I would probably visit again.

If craving pizza this place is a must try. The food and atmosphere were very inviting and the staff is great. I was very surprised to see some pizza combinations that I have never seen before. My family and I came hungry and were not disappointed.

Outside patio was nice and shaded in the late afternoon. Took a second to place the order but the pizza came super fast after that. And it’s delicious. Clearly fresh ingredients. The regular size is almost enough for two people

We got Margherita pizza and cheese pizza. Both of them were really good. We also got meatball marinara app. Meatballs were very good, and we especially enjoyed the sauce. One of us also got the shrimp scampi. Excellent spice and flavor. Everything we got was excellent quality and the wait staff were all great, as well.

Good food, not just pizza. The staff very friendly. Service was great, didn't have to wait long for food. Everything we had was hot and good!!

The food was great, and the service was pretty quick for a weekend night. My boyfriend daughter and I loved coming here after a busy day at the Aquarium.

We walked in, asked to be seated, waited outside at our table for 20+ minutes, no one came to wait on us, so we left.

Loved their coal fired pizza which is made to order. Convenient to aquarium a d Omni where we were staying. Very casual with good service. Would definitely go back

We loved being able to sit outside under the Edison lighting. The tables were very big for our family of 5. They serve 12” pizzas only and you have so many options to choose from. Loved the unique options. Friendly service!

While visiting Atlanta for work, we found this little gem. The pizza was some of the best pizza I have ever had. Service was excellent and the food was delicious.

Very good place to join a lunch or dinner. I eat a very good pizza with the same fast as the pizza I can eat at home (Italy). Fresh Chocolate chip cannolis (prepared when orders so very tasteful) and Zeppolis are so delicious! A place to visit when in Atlanta!

We are staying at a hotel close by and wanted something quick. We ordered take out which was ready within 10 minutes. I really like a good salad and was very surprised how fresh the vegetables were and a large portion. The pizza was excellent and the crust was perfect. I may try another pizza later in the week.

If there’s a wait, sit at the bar delicious house sangria. The locals waiting for a table let you know it’s worth the delay. The pizza is freshly thrown to order, a delight to watch in its own right. Hot and fairly fast with attentive staff. The place was over-run with soccer, football and walking deadheads the day we went, but we did not feel pushed. I believe every plate of garlic knots I saw was charred, our own included. The only regret was trying donuts over cannolis. They were killed with too much cinnamon. As a home baker, I can say they broke the ratio rule of cinnamon to sugar. Sometimes more is not better, it’s just more. Stick with pizza and you won’t be disappointed.

Best meal we had in Atlanta. Stopped by after the aquarium as we felt like a pizza and salad. Both pizzas, cheese and pepperoni and a mushroom one were outstanding. Thin crust and deliciously cheesy. The Greek salad was outstanding. Fresh and a light delicious salad dressing. Highly recommend this place!

Great pizzas, friendly staff (who even warns you that you may have ordered too much ! ;) ) in a trendy design place.

Came in on a stormy night which was not good as they don’t have a parking lot. Pizza was excellent-NY style think crust. Would def come back

We ordered two pizzas, two Greek salads, and two subs. They were devoured quickly. Delicious! When I went in to pick up, the place was packed, but it was an Atlanta United FC game day and the restaurant is not too far from the stadium.

We where in Atlanta for a cheer competition and we ate on a Friday night. It was packed but worth the wait they even stayed open past closing to accommodate everyone that came in to eat. Food was excellent and service was great!!

I had the Greek salad which was huge and delicious. Packed full of banana peppers, onion, tomatoes, olives and feta. We also ordered two pizzas. The toppings are great. Really loved the sausage. It was seasoned well and tasty. May go back to try other items we saw that looked amazing like wings and meatballs.

Nice place for pizza and a beer. Service was excellent. However, our pizza crust was a bit soggy, but we enjoyed it anyway.

The bianca pizza is good, just need to omit the garlic. The spaghetti is spicy. Water is straight from the tap. But still good. Love the atmosphere.

The pizza here was excellent. It's a Brooklyn style pizza, which I love. I was a little grossed out by gum someone left under the table that was near us that was hanging. When I told the guy cleaning tables about it, he just looked at it and left it there. I felt bad for the person that had to sit there next.

we had a conference here & this is near the convention center within walking distance. We ate there twice! The pizzas are hand tossed, great ingredients, nice salads. Lots to choose, would come back again if ever here again, can’t go wrong here!

Just stopped here after checking into our hotel nearby, the dining area is very crowded showing it's popularity, my wife chose a pizza with caramelized onion and chicken. It was different, but very good! I chose to try the "new fashioned" bourbon drink. I have to admit I was a little disappointed in it. Old fashions have become my drink of choice so I felt a need to try this variant. I wouldn't have it again. The server at our table was ok, she seemed quite rushed and never seemed very personable. There was another employee that bussed our table that seemed much more friendly. We went here for dinner and was very happy with the pizza, my wife said it was great. Would I go here again???? Yes! And you should too!

Cool location, nice service and above all great food. The pizza is very good. You can watch directly how the food is prepared.

The waiter hardly cracked a smile or made eye contact with our family. The pizza was quickly made and tasted good. I always like service with a smile. Maybe the server was having a bad day.

For being understaffed they were very accommodating. Food was delicious and came out quick considering their staffing numbers. One pizza and salad was more than enough for two people. Good walk from world of coke and the aquarium

My son and I came upon this place today and we enjoyed an excellent pizza following a trip to Coca Cola! Now it’s saying something when I say it was an excellent pizza, and even more when my son agrees that is was! We are New Yorker’s and pizza snobs but this was a hidden gem downtown! The only negative thing was that some of the servers didn’t put on gloves when they cut the pizza! Mine did and this is very important to me!

Pizza was amazing. Very casual but service was good. Only disappointing issue was they didn't have any hoagie buns. Definitely recommend.

We stopped here for lunch on our way to the Aquarium. The pizzas and salad were delicious and large.

We waited about 5 minutes for a table on a Thursday night. Once seated, we were greeted promptly and placed our beverage order. My husband, 7-year-old daughter, and I shared a Caesar salad to start and had some leftover. Then we ordered two pizzas- a margherita and a pepperoni. Both were delicious. Service was pleasant and timely. The restaurant was busy throughout our visit and when we left several people were waiting for a table. We’d absolutely recommend.

We parked across from Max’s for the aquarium and said we wanted to give it a try on our way out. Best decision because the pizza is to die for! Hands down the best pizza I’ve ever had and we eat pizza every trip we take (27 states) and personally make a killer pizza but this doesn’t touch any other pizza!!!

Staff was very friendly from when we fist arrived to when we left. We had the Bianca gluten free pizza and it was incredible. There wait for our food was minimal.

Took the advice from a number of reviewers on TA and headed to Max’s with a colleague of mine for some pizza. A good sign for a Monday evening was a full restaurant. However, we didn’t have to wait very long to be seated. Our pizzas and drinks came quickly and the overall service was spot on. We walked away satisfied and full! I would definitely return for a second round.

The food was good but we were seated at same time as 4 other tables and for some reason our drinks and food got to us about 15 minutes later than the other tables. It wasn’t good enough to justify the bad service

My son and I were staying at a nearby hotel and had lunch there right after arriving in town. Overall experience was wonderful. The service was efficient. The food was very good. My son had the wings and said they were very good. We shared the Greek salad and it was enough for 3 people. Served in a larger bowl for sharing which was nice. The Margarita pizza was very good as well. Perfectly cooked. Would definitely recommend.

The food was great. I was in Italy only last week and can say this was genuinely good Italy quality pizza. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Had the tradizionale with rocket/arugula and chicken. Loved it.

Pizza is top! top! Top! Top! The food was great! Service was amazing The pizza guy did quite a performance with pizza dough!

The pizza is absolutely the best..service was great. Runs smoothly. We had just the cheese and basal it was great. Super crunchy crust

A nice family restaurant for lunch. 12" pizza is a bit skimpy. Crust and sauce are good. Add-ons are Affordable.

An excellent pizza restaurant. You can tell how good it is by the constant stream of locals coming in. Definitely one of the best pizzas I've had while in the States. Much better than the famed New York offerings! Staff are friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.

The food was excellent- the service was okay until the wait staff asked for my ID (59) - my ID was in the car but - it worked out! We had 2 different pizzas and desserts - would strongly recommend

The food at Max's was fantastic! Service was really quick & staff were great! We had a party of 11 and everyone was happy with the food & drinks!

My family stopped here after reading good reviews prior to visiting World of Coke. We were not disappointed. We got the meat and cheese platter along with garlic knots to start which were delicious followed by a great Caeser salad. The pizzas are only 12 inches/6 slices however they were delicious. We highly recommend for lunch or dinner if you are in the area.

We enjoyed our meal and service was very good, not as good as some other coal fire pizzas, good location next to centennial park.

I went on a solo trip in Atlanta for a week and I lived off lemon pepper wings a lot!! I am a big pizza head because I live in NY and wanted to try the pizza here!! I went to the world of Coca Cola and then came here for lunch!! I got myself a pepperoni pizza and a lemonade and the lady who took my order was very nice!! I thought I would be able to eat the whole pizza but I have a tiny stomach and so I ate half and got the rest to go!! It was very good!!

Excellent place, family atmosphere, the Greek salad was the favorite dish, very fresh, good dressing. We tried 2 pizzas, we preferred the greca over the margarita although both were crunchy and very delicious! Prices without theme! We had a very attentive waiter and he gave good service. Don't forget to try the Italian donuts!

Food was all right, average pizza, pretty good salads. They have Coke Zero signs all over but don’t have Coke Zero available for dine in. The most frustrating thing was they told us 30 minutes for a table and we ended up waiting more than an hour. The hostess was kind of snippy when I checked on our waiting list progress one time after the estimate was exceeded. I felt like they lied to keep us from going elsewhere. Just because it’s a touristy area doesn’t mean you shouldn’t respect your customers. Not recommended.

I went at noon with my family, great place. Very good servicd, the pizza was GREAT!! Price is not cheap but not too expensive for such a nice pizza.

Stopped in after football. I believe all 4 in the area are part of the same company. Restaurant is a bit noisy but service was fairly quick and friendly. Pizza was quite good. I think this is one of the better choices in area for price range.

We got two pizzas before the Paul McCartney concert. Ordered through their app. One of the pizzas was incorrect and staff immediately apologized and quickly remade our pizza. They allowed us to keep the other pizza as they could not take it back. We gave the pizza to the valets at our hotel. Both pizzas that we ate were fabulous. Will return.

Stopped here for lunch, close to the Aquarium. Place was busy but we seated immediately. Food was delicious, we ordered their Margarita Pizza and Pepperoni Pizza to share and a Greek Salad. My son ordered Chicken Parmesan who said it was one of the best he has ever had. Relaxing atmosphere, family friendly.

Regrettably overrated. Note to the chef… Extra virgin olive oil is a fantastic thing unless your Margherita pie is floating in it. The dough, sauce and cheese weren’t outstanding. The Greek salad had slightly brown lettuce and was drenched in dressing. The beer lines needed cleaning. Service was okay, except for the “food auction” delivery. A service staff that knows who’s food belongs to whom shows that it cares about the customer, the food and the restaurant. My check and credit card were ignored for almost 20 mins while I waited to get back to my neighborhood explorations. The size of the pizza gave reasonably good value for money. Nothing about this location on this day was anything but barely average.

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised how good the pizza was. However our waiter acted like he wanted to be anywhere but there. Luckily because the pizza was delicious I will overlook the unhappy employee.

The pizza here was really good. However, the service was kind of slow. I would go again. I had leftovers and they were even good the next day. I would highly recommend the polenta sticks. YUM!

Was in Atlanta for a conference and saw this place that looked good online, so walked 3/4 mile. Worth the walk! Clean, cool, busy, inviting atmosphere. Had a sausage, pepperoni and prosciutto pizza. Did not have the coal flavor I was hoping for that I've had at other coal-fired places, but still excellent. Overall rating just very good only because my server wasn't the greatest. Definitely recommend for any type of visitor.

We stopped here After a visit to the Aquarium. No wait and we were seated promptly. Our server Mohammed was friendly, attentive and prompt. The food was good, we were with children so a standard cheese pizza, Caesar salad and chicken Parmesan sub with fries. Everything tasted great and was served quickly.

Having been on a food walking tour earlier in the day we were looking for a lighter dinner. A shared Margheritta pizza and Caesar salad shared by two was perfect and our waitress Terri was great. Max’s is in easy walking distance from the Omni CNN. Would definitely go back.

We dropped in for late night food. The place had a nice rustic feel. We received friendly service. There was a decent selection of pizza toppings. There was an average selection of beers. The pizza was delicious.

The food is OUTSTANDING! The hostess was rude. She rolled her eyes at us twice and seemed to generally be having a horrible day. Our server could not have been nicer though!

Wish we lived closer so we could eat here more often. We stopped here because it was close to our hotel & we are so glad we did! The food was delicious, the service was great & the staff was very friendly. The prices were also very reasonable. By far the best place we ate while in town. Highly recommended!

Yet another awesome example of Southern hospitality; the hostess “fought” for us and our two dogs, securing a table outside when that wasn’t available to anyone else. She clearly let everyone else know this, and then every other staff member was so nice to our dogs and us, providing water for them and prompt service for us. The Greek salad was solid and the pizza was worth eating all the way to the crust, which is rarely the case. When it started raining we took our pizzas to go back to our hotel two blocks away; easy.

Based on our experience I can't recommend Max's Coal Oven Pizzeria. The service was sub par, and they ran out of pizza on Sunday evening.

My wife and I split a pizza and salad. The food arrived quickly and was very tasty. We were satisfied with the experience. Price for pizza and salad came to about $30, so not a super cheap place to eat, but not horrible either. Our server was friendly and attentive.

We just happened upon this restaurant as it was within walking distance of our hotel. It had outdoor seating and looked good so we tried and so glad we did. We got the meatball appetizer which was very good, and ordered two pizzas. Both were great - crispy crust and great sauce. Fun place to eat while in town.

My family and I found this place while walking around town. Very tasty pizza with cold beer is always a good thing. The service was great too! Not sure what coal does for the cooking process vs wood fired but still good pizza.

Went here after doing brunch down the street. This pizza is soooo good! Got a pizza with mushrooms on half and jalapeños for my friend on the other half. Sat at the bar and did some drinks and the bartender from Philly is definitely legit! Next time I’m visiting Atlanta I definitely would come back: pizza is fresh and we love a good oven!

My family and I went to eat. We were seated. Waited about 15 minutes, and we were not greeted by a server. Several tables around us received service, but we did not. A few servers looked at us but never checked. We walked out after 15 minutes. Pizza smelled great.

I wasn't expecting much other than to get a quick bite while taking care of appointments downtown, but ended up being pleasantly surprised. First of all the service was quick and attentive. The weather was pleasant and we took advantage of the outdoor seating. My husband and I love the pizzas we get in Europe, not just Italy, but France and other countries as well. We're always on the hunt for a good one and have special little spots we go back to when traveling. This was the best pizza I've had in a long time. The crust was perfect. So often, when you try a wood-fired pizza or some other specially prepared one, the bottom crust is so tough you have to saw through it. I eat my pizza with a fork and knife. This one cut through like butter. The toppings were delicious, and if my husband could get his with anchovies and capers he would be a happy camper. Again, a very pleasant surprise and will definitely be back!

Searched the area for kid friendly restaurants and this popped up. We went after the aquarium around 830 and the pizza was delicious and came out fast. We appreciated the kid friendly atmosphere as a traveling family with 2 girls ( 5 year old, 1 year old) . They didn’t offer a high chair , I’m not sure If they have them but we sat at a table and held my daughter. Would go back if I’m in area again with my kids.

The spaghetti was delightful and was a suggestion from the server. I liked the open concept kitchen, the place could have been cleaner. Service was pretty quick and overall average.

Good location near Olympic Park, Georgia Aquarium and World of Coca Cola. Like name says, known for their pizzas. But I decided to go with meatball sandwich, which was tasty. Service was REAL fast, considering place was 2/3 full and they also have terrace. Overall nice lunch, no complaints

While in Atlanta for the supercross race, we decided to give this place a second try after a bad experience last time we ate here a year or two ago. Had to work to convince my wife, as she was still salty about the crap service and joke of a pizza we got last time which was almost devoid of any toppings....mistake. After we were seated and ordered drinks, before my beer arrived we were asked if we were ready to order. We said we needed a minute. 20 minutes later with empty drinks we decided to leave. At least the host/manager didn't make us pay for our drinks. Never again. Went next door to der biergarten where we've eaten/drank a couple times before, great food, great service, go figure. Max's coal oven whatever it's called gets a huge thumbs down...again, which pains me to do, as we are huge foodies and generally love a good brick oven pizza...when the pizza and service is actually good.

This restaurant is so cute! It’s very cozy and their caprese salad is very delicious. The service was a little slow/inattentive but that’s my only problem. Delicious peach bellinis too!

We enjoyed our meal and service was very good. I realize it’s a sports bar, but the TVs were so loud we could not carry on a conversation at our table. We would have liked to return, during our visit to Atlanta, because the pizza was very good, but didn’t because of the TV volume.

Sat outside on a nice night. Light crowd. Pizza was made quick and delicious. Not the best I’ve ever had but really good. Definitely would hit it up again.

Husband and I shared pizza and wings.. I have to say that it was pretty good. Brick pizza was a nice size for two. Get the lemon pepper wings.. very good.

Good music but that's where it ends for me. The staff was inattentive and the food was average. I have had better pizza from the grocery store freezer and the meat on the subs was described as "the worst meat I've ever had on a sandwich."

Great pizza place downtown Atlanta. We went to the aquarium and found this place one block away. The service was great and quick. Everything from the hostess to the server all were amazing. The pizza was fresh and tasted yummy. Would most definitely eat there again.

Coal fire Pizza was fantastic. They had a variety of food on their menu . Prices were very good. The service was excellent. My wife and I will eat here again.

Awesome pizza and variety of pizza. One of the best gluten free pizza in Atlanta and very good hand tossed hand tossed pizza. They also had a decent selection of draft beers to choose from.

Good pizza if your in the area visiting the aquarium and world of coke. Staff was quick and attentive. I enjoyed the pizza and my cocktail.

It could have just been the night we visited but it was really chaotic. Our server never came to refill drinks or ask if we wanted anything else during our meal We actually got our entree before our appetizer. The table next to us had to wait 10 minutes for their kid's food to come our after they got their food which means the parents got cold food.

Wonderful pizza. Service was great as well. Within walking distance of the State Farm arena. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

On my first night in Atlanta, I had not met up with any colleagues so I walked to Max's by myself to check it out. I struggled with what to order since the pizza sizes were all big for one person plus the prices seemed high. I ordered the Bianca pizza and was happy with the crispiness and flavor. There was hardly any red sauce so the cheese became overwhelming by the second slice. The waitress was super friendly and it looked like everyone was having fun. I took the leftovers back to the front desk staff at the hotel and they seemed super happy to receive it. Next time I would order a different pizza flavor and bring some friends to share.

One of our kids picked this for late lunch as we headed to the aquarium on a Saturday around 2:30. We had about a 30 minute wait as every table was taken, which was fine. Pizzas and additional sides loomed good enough as we saw them come out that we added the garlic knots and wings with our pizza once we were seated. Garlic knots were okay, though not especially flavorful, and the wings were good enough that everyone had 1 or 2, but still not all of them ended up being eaten which is a testament to them right there. Pizza was decent though it was thinner crust and as such a bit floppy to deal with, like a New York style. So the food was passable. Service was not the best however. Our server was inattentive at drink refills for the table, and we were shortws on plates and napkins, finally needing to ask for napkins, and silverware was not offered at all.the wings and pizza were greasy/wet and the napkins were a must. When it was time to leave, we needed to ask for our check after patiently waiting for her to come around. We were checked on once during the visit and as I said needed to flag down someone to get our check, and it wasn't from our assigned server. Overall, the food was decent, service was blah, and I don't know if the quality of the food was enough to bring me back a second time. Yes, it was busy, but I've also been to busy places before that still had good service.

We came on a Saturday night and while it was busy there, we were able to be seated right away. The service was outstanding. Everything we ordered came quickly and was delicious!! We loved the white pizza in particular, and also the Greek and Caesar salads, which were huge! The ambiance is festive and fun, and the prices were very reasonable. We definitely recommend this place in downtown Atlanta!

I actually recommended this restaurant to some coworkers before I even went there to try it myself. They reported that it was awesome so after working hard all day. I walked down to my hotel to it. There were moderately busy, but not too much. I was directed to the bar where I placed my order and paid. They said it would be fifteen minutes (thought it was closer to ten). While I was waiting, I noticed none of the staff seemed happy, no smiles, no laughter, no happy to be there vibes. It was a little off putting but soon my food was ready and I was on my way. I got an unusual choice for my dinner but I’m a sucker for cheese. I got the burrata caprese. It was a messy choice to eat on top of a white bedspread but I miraculously didn’t make a mess. The burrata was creamy and rich, the tomato and pesto sauce was flavorful and thick and the garlic flatbread was a perfect vessel when I didn’t just scoop it up with my fork. It was a perfect meal for me. Just don’t tell anyone I ate a whole orb of burrata by myself.

Seated right away on a Sat afternoon around 3:30. Pizza & garlic knots were delicious! Will be back!

We really liked the pizza. The dough was great, not too much sauce or cheese. The extra hot oven gives it a crispy edge. Thousands of pizza places in this country, few really understand how to make a good pizza. My Italian guests rate it a 9 out of 10.

We went here after running the Atlanta Half Marathon and really enjoyed our food. The pizza was great, and our salad and appetizers were good too. Not anything groundbreaking in the world of pizza, but if you're looking for a quick lunch in the museum area, this is a good spot to stop!

Great brick over pizza in downtown. Many selections and options to try, and was not disappointed by any. Not bad beer selections, and has inside and outside seating.

Such a great place for pizza. Their crust is amazing and everything else tasted great. We walked over for lunch during our aquarium visit and were very happy. Food and service were great.

Coal fired was a new experience for me. The pizza was good and the crust had a great yeasty flavor with a really good chew. They didn’t skimp on the toppings like so many wood fired pizza joints. Service was outstanding by Derek!

We had a party of 10 and they quickly sat us. We order several pizza’s, kids meals and drinks. Everything was excellent. The server was fun and friendly. We went back again during my extended weekend in the city it was so good.

Decided to have a few drinks and snacks before flight. Very clean, good customer service. A little pricey but worth it.

The environment is simple and cozy. The pizza is wonderful, with a delicious sauce, super soft dough and very good seasoning! The service was also great!

An outdoor lunch at Max's was just what we needed after the GA Aquarium. The pizza was good, as was the service. We had younger children with us and the server was patient and the menu ticked all the boxes.

Stopped by this weekend for lunch. This place has indoor and outdoor seating. The staff was very professional and the food is outstanding! Any of the wood fired pizzas are worth the wait and price!! Will definitely return when traveling again in the ATL!!

Service was good and the pizza was pretty good, but a little different. There was ALOT of sauce on the specialty pizza. Almost to the point of the toppings sliding off. The crust was different too. Cooked in a coal fired oven the crust was a bit burnt/charred, we rather enjoyed. The pizza was not executed perfectly, but it was tasty. The prices are a little steep and the pies a little small, but not a bad place to stop in.

Dont believe all the good or great reviews. They are fake. Staff does not care about serving you at all. They believe they are doing you a favor waiting on you. Food was below average after the rude service.

Pizza was delicious and very fairly priced! We enjoyed our visit but the bartender is extremely overworked! He was running bar and tables while 4 people stood at the door greeting guests. Management needs to intervene.

Stopped by before the Rolling Stones concert, place was filling up. Waitress wasn't the best but the food was really good. Had the meatballs, the ricotta really made them special. Also ordered 2 pizzas, both were excellent, cooked just right.

I was visiting downtown Atlanta for first time in a long while and really enjoyed dining here with my parents! The location is very convenient to the aquarium and stadium and we walked from our hotel. Prepare for a wait at night at least on the weekends but it’s worth it! I loved the pizza and found it surprisingly filling to be thinner Italian style. The tomato’ sauce was amazing and provided a lot of flavor. My dad loved the chicken Parmesan entree as well. We’d definitely go back!!

Good Restaurant! As others have said the service was a bit slow, and the Caprese appetizer only came with two small breadsticks. Our food came out one item at a time with a good ten minutes between the first pizza & the last. But all the food was really good. Would visit again!

This is a gem in the Centennial Olympic Park area. The pie crust was awesome. The menu included pizza’s without red sauce and the beer was exceptional. If I live here, I would be a regular! The cherry on top was Regina, excellent and friendly service. If you go, Id ask for Regina’s table.
Deserves the 1st Place Rating!
While we had a short wait, we were able to grab bar seats when they opened, giving us full view of two TVs to watch two different games while eating lunch. We had the Traditionale pizza and the flavor was outstanding. It was ready within 10 minutes which I considered pretty speedy. We also shared the lemon wings appetizer and they were phenomenal. Highly recommend! The staff was friendly and efficient, parking was available right across the street. I’ll be back in the future!
