They have really good breakfast. The open faced breakfast sandwich was really good. I would recommend it. Also very good service and excellent coffee.

Three of us stopped in before the theater. The beer cheese soup ended up being a broccoli cheese soup. The pear & apple salad was small and unremarkable in flavor. The trout was also average. The two flat iron steaks, while well seasoned, arrived cold (not even lukewarm) served with a twice-baked potato that didn't achieve the normal rich whipped goodness. By the time, we found the server, it was too late to take her up on the offer to have the steaks rewarmed before our show. We found the lemon bars almost tasteless (barely lemon-y with a hard crust that missed the advertised shortbread crust, The mixed berry almond tart joined the rest of the meal as ordinary, leaning to below average. With only two other tables at 6:00, we would expect more a flavorful meal and more attentive service. The server did apply a 10%/$13 discount which was appreciated and covered the parking fee. I'm not sure if we will give them a second try.

Portland's newest restaurant, Mayrose is open! This exciting new American Brasserie restaurant is located within The Duniway Hotel and features innovative cuisine in a warmly, spirited setting. The menu is artfully designed and focuses on local ingredients. Sarah, Mayroses' chef de cuisine, is well versed in a multitude of cuisines and has perfected this menu with something for everyone. We began with raw oysters on the half shell then enjoyed the roasted carrots and avocado salad, as well as, the pear & apple with kale, blue crumbles and candied walnut salad. The carrots and avocado salad is unique and an incredible mingling of delightful flavors. The kale salad is the perfect blend of sweet and tartness. For our entrees, we had the ale brined pork chop which is served with roasted brussels sprouts, flamed apples and sweet potato hash. We also ordered the Smoked pastrami beef rib is served with a pickled mustard seed slaw and it is ABSOLUTELY OUT OF THIS WORLD! In my opinion ,this is a destination entrée and one that diners will come from far away places to experience this culinary delight. The food and wine were fabulous and the service was fantastic! Our server, Emily was very attentive, knowledge about the menu and wines and friendly. Our runner, Julian was quick to clear our table and provide us with additional service utensils and thoughtfully checked in with us from time to time. Mayrose has extensive beverage offerings that is built on a base of gins from around the world and a full compliment of wines and beers sourced from the bounties of Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. It's an exciting new concept and it's exactly what we need in downtown Portland!

Delicious food. Great attentive staff. My husband drink water a lot so something I watch out for is how often they fill your glass. This place got an A+. Will be back when we come to Portland!

Other than the pre-dinner drinks and bottle of wine, there is nothing nice to say about the food or service. The neighbor restaurants featuring steak, etc. we’re very busy if that tells you not to dine here.

Lovely spot ambiance excellent food delicious carrot ginger soup beet salad mushroom pot pie lemon bar flatiron steak kitchen a little slow, menu a bit inaccurate but nice service and they will iron this out

We were here for a rehearsal dinner for a wedding. The food was delicious and service was great! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The bar in the lobby of the Duniway hotel had a nice living room vibe for pre-dinner drinks.

Dining at Mayrose at the Duniway Hotel was such a treat! The ambiance is chic and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a special night out.

I attended a conference at The Hilton located across the street. The Mayrose came very highly recommended. There were 4 of us with a reservation made by someone else who had preordered some hors d'oeuvres for us. The charcuterie board and marinated olives and pickled vegetables were very good. Aaron, our waiter described each dish as it was served. We also shared someone's order of warm brussels sprouts. It was a little too much vinegar for my taste. The chef did come out to talk to us and then sent some very nice warm crusty bread to our table (he was previously told we needed to be gluten free). I ordered the Skillet Crisp Salmon, which the chef told me was a nice choice. It was very good and yes, very crispy. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly! The quinoa risotto with kale was very good as well. The 4 of us shared 2 desserts, a very healthy portion of bread pudding and the chocolate citrus mousse were both very good. Two days later, we returned with a very large group and there was a limited menu. I would like to have had a different entree, but only the salmon was of interest to me. While it was good, it wasn't quite the same as I had earlier. The portions were generous and while I didn't pay for either meal, I thought the prices weren't bad. Once again, Aaron did a first class job as our waiter. Knowing that everyone has different tastes and expectations, I would say this restaurant is worth a try.
