While on a business trip, my husband and I took time to celebrate our 38th anniversary. The atmosphere, service and food were all exceptional. My husband said that the bone-in ribeye was probably the best he'd ever had.

Went to McKendrick's as a last minute substitution to a change in plans on a Saturday night because we were in the area. The food was good. I had a 12 Oz. Ribeye and my wife had scallops. The scallops were above average and more quantity then we normally see which was a plus. The steak was pretty average. Lot of fat and not medium as I ordered. Wine by the glass, was not very full and the service was a little annoying as our server hovered over us and seem offended that we didn't want dessert. Just disappointing for a "high end" steak house. We don't mind spending the money for a great steak but the quality and the overall experience was not worth price. Will not return. There are better options in the Atlanta area.

Wow, First time to McKendrick's and I ask myself why I've never eaten here before. I now consider this one of ATL's better restaurants with wonderful service and very nice atmosphere . We visited McKendrick's on a Sunday so it was not all that busy but the food was still A+. Three of us (wife & son) started off with a the Tempura Lobster and Escargot which were out of this world. I really enjoyed the escargot which where nice sized, had a wonderful pastry top and garlic sauce. No complaints with our main courses, I had the Fried African Lobster Tail, my wife had the 8 oz Filet which was cooked perfectly for her and our son wiped out his 24 oz Porterhouse. We shared the Creamed Spinach and the killer Lobster Mac & Cheese sides. Ok, it was a B-Day dinner so we had to have the Turtle Pie for desert, which didn't last long split 3 ways. Service was perfect, each table has 2 servers working it, so we never ran out of water and drinks were refiled quickly. Our food came out fresh and hot as it should be and if we needed anything one of the 2 servers helped us out immediately. There are so many wonderful places to eat in ATL but McKendrick's is on our favorites list now. And free parking to boot.

I had dinner with a group of friends at McKendricks. We had a large party and were greeted promptly. The menu is somewhat limited but is what you'd expect for a steak house. The steak was delicious and the sides are large enough for 2 or 3 people. We were there on a Wednesday night and it was busy and extremely loud. I would give the food 5 stars and the service 3 stars - so overall I'd rate it at 4 stars.

I had promised my girlfriend a trip to one of the TOP rated steakhouses in the country for her birthday! Needless to say McKendrick's didn't disappoint. I had been there a few times over the years, but this night was special and well worth the drive from Nashville. Being in the service industry and having worked my way thru school as a server, I can be critical when it comes to dining out. BUT, this experience was AWESOME! Evan our server was knowledgeable swift and not intrusive. He and his neighbors worked together to provide, drinks, water etc. Hats off to them all! On the recommendation of Evan, I was deciding between the Ribeye and the Bone In Ribeye... Without hesitation, he said the Bone in Ribeye. It did not disappoint. cooked perfect and worth the drive. April had the regular Ribeye, she said it was the best steak she has ever had. Of course the Lobster Mac and Cheese was the bomb and the brussel sprouts where to die for. We concluded with a slice of cheese cake! The almond crush made it even better. Great job to all, keep up the great work. See you all again. Thank you Doug for providing such a great restaurant, atmosphere and service.

Went with a business group of 14. Had two servers, Michael and Michelle who did a tremendous job. We shared all the sides which were outstanding. Dessert selection is outrageous with an extensive wine list. The one hiccup was my petite filet, requested charred medium rare, came medium rare, but no char. And the filet had an unusual amount of gristle.

I dine at McKendrick's every time I'm in the Perimeter/Dunwoody area of Atlanta. It's truly one of the best steakhouses in America. Food is consistently delicious and service is always extremely professional. Whether you are dinning at a table in dinning room or sitting at the bar with veteran bartenders Frank and Brian the service is what you would expect from a first class restaurant and more. The restaurant has a great decor and always busy with locals and out of town visitors. Give McKendrick's a try. You won't be disappointed!

Great atmosphere and the bar area is very nice. Servers are excellent. We had a few drinks at the bar and they are very attentive even though they were very busy. Dinner was great. We cannot wait to visit Georgia again so we can go back there to eat.

Wow, what a Steak š„© House. Ordered a $59.95 steak (16 oz. Filet with a bone š in it), thinking what the heck as we were celebrating a successful project . Glad I did as this steak was delicious and flavorful. The meat was so tender and easy to cut. Everything you order is a la carte so your expenses will add up quickly. But you will be pleased.

Literally. Haven't had a ribeye this good in a long time. It was cooked perfectly, and the lobster mac & cheese was great. Next time I'm in the area, I definitely would like to come back.

McKendrickās Steak House is one of the true traditional Atlanta steakhouses. Forget about the menu. Ask the waiters. They have todays recommendations and give you the best experience. Great food, great service!

I was at McKendrick's Steak House in Dunwoody for dinner. My steak order was not cooked properly and the first time this happened, I sent it back. After 4 tries, I asked for the manager and was advised that she "has left for the evening but there is no excuse for the kitchen bungling your order 4 times and you will hear back from the manager tomorrow." (See photo below of the 4th try to cook the steak properly). The assistant manager on duty did not offer an explanation for the poor performance of the kitchen but apologized for the kitchen staff and offered to pay for the glass of wine I had ordered but did not drink as, I had been waiting to have it with my dinner. The manager never reached out. When I called the restaurant later the next day, I was told that there was nothing that could be done since I was part of a group that had covered the cost of the meal, which I actually never had. Certainly not a classy response from a restaurant that prides itself as fine dining.

We dined at McKendrick's on Valentine's Day. We hadn't been for a couple of years because our previous experience was not very good. However, this time was very different. The restaurant is upscale, but still comfortable. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us great recommendations. The service was prompt, but not rushed and very professional and friendly. We started with escargots and the heirloom tomato salad. The escargots is served in mini puff pastries and was excellent. The tomato salad was very fresh with creamy burrata. My husband ordered the filet, my daughter had scallops and I ordered the grouper special. We also ordered mushrooms, potatoes au gratin, and asparagus. The sides were so large that we couldn't eat them all. The filet was tender and flavorful and cooked to perfection. The grouper and scallops were also delicious. We will definitely go back to McKendrick's in the coming weeks!

There have been several new steak houses that have opened up in the perimeter area. Kendrickās Steak House continues to be the leader in quality and service. We have been going there for years and have tried the new ones which have come along. When dining at McKendrickās you know what youāre going to get. Great Steaks and seafood along with excellent side dishes and Terrific salads large enough to share. The Filets are tender and cooked to perfection. The chefs bone in ribeyes are nice and juicy. They have lamb chops , lobster tails, salmon and jumbo sea scallops just to name a few of the other entrĆ©es.When you eat at McKendrickās youāre going with a winner.

On business in Atlanta recently I met some friends for dinner. They recommended we meet at McKendrick's. Located in a very busy Atlanta suburb the "Dunwoody" area with many upscale restaurants and shopping. About a 45 minute dive from the airport depending on the traffic. The restaurant sits just off Ashford Dunwoody road you can see the sign from the road. But the restaurant sits in the back of a shopping area just to the right as you drive in. Parking is limited and valet is highly recommended. Be sure to make reservations this place stays busy during the peak hours. Very upscale dinning and very pricey. Plenty of business people who are using their expense accounts at this establishment. My party of four had steaks except for one who opted for the grilled jumbo shrimp. I ordered the bibb lettuce salad with roasted spicey walnuts. This was one of the best salads I have had at a restaurant. Fresh lettuce complimented with slices of pears and a mustard vinaigrette dressing. A perfect start for the meal. There was warm bread and butter served with the salads. Our waiter was very accomplished knew the menu well and made the usual recommendations for specials. Food was served promptly despite the fact the restaurant was packed with diners. The entrees came out just after we finished our salads. My steak was cooked correctly and the taste was tender and with lots of flavor. On a scale of 1 to 10 my steak was about 8. Could have been slightly warmer when presented. Prices are in the 50 to 60 dollar range per person so be prepared to pay above average. But this falls in line with a fine white table cloth restaurants with excellent service. The noise level is high so if you are looking for a quite romantic dinner you might wait till later in the evening when the crowds have all gone home. I would not hesitate to return to McKendricks on my next trip to Atlanta.

Had a on bone rib eye after recommendation. Best I've had in years Salmon tartare starter was superb. A real gem. Thanks to Marcus

Located in Park Place in Dunwoody, McKendrick's is the ideal place for a business lunch or dinner, celebration of special family event (anniversary, graduation, birthday), or for a couple's night out. They are known for steak and seafood, so as with most steakhouses, it's always best to get what they are known for when visiting as they will not disappoint! The French Onion soup here is a great appetizer, as are the jumbo lump crab cakes.

Good for business meetings Food is well prepared There is so much competition at this level that for the price you expect more Many restaurants seve a raw seafood tower ...usually oysters crab lobster tail shrimp. Here you get to choose 3 items and they provide small portions. During my a recent dinner meetings for 2 the seafood tower consisted of 2 shrimp 2 oysters and 4 ahi Tuna... where is the crab meat where is the lobster my goodness people Service was slow and we had to work hard to grab the attention of our server to take the main course order and to provide us the check On the positive side the lobster mash is great. The grouper and steak we ordered was well prepared

We celebrated a birthday dinner and the steaks & lamb chops were excellent - the service was outstanding - neither pushy nor distant but extremely helpful when requested.

37th anniversary. Wonderful. Great service. Great food, Great wine. Had not been to Mckendrick since moving to Florida 17 years ago. Steaks melt in your mouth. Wonderful Evening!!!!! Thank you

We came here for an anniversary dinner. I booked a reservation about 3 - 4 weeks in advance for a Saturday evening. The Restaurant is located in the Park Place plaza. The businesses surround a central courtyard / park, and the parking lot rings the complex. There was plenty of nearby parking when we arrived. We had never dined her before, though I think it has been here for quite a while. It has all the usual facets of a high-end steak house: dim lighting, dark wood, cozy booths, wait staff in uniforms, etc. Service was attentive an prompt, as you'd expect here. We never felt rushed or ignored. The wine list is extensive. The steaks were cooked well and were high quality. The salads, bread, and desert were all quite good too. Prices were high, but that's part of the package. If you are looking for a high-end splurge for a special occasion, keep this place on your list.

This restaurant is way overpriced and not worth it for the food quality. Their steak was just average, nothing special about it; I can even cook my own steak better than this. The baked oyster tasted rotten. Steak and sea bass tasted too salty. Salads are dull. Service ok and ambience is normal. Just try a better restaurant nearby. I donāt recommend this place.

As many other reviewers have stated, we certainly don't mind paying a premium price if the product is premium. Neither my husband nor I felt that the food was premium here. I agree w/the other reviewer that there are just too many other GREAT steak places in Atl to go here and pay these prices. Everything is presented as such, however it just doesn't meet the mark. Bread was only o.k. - definitely not great. We split the spinach salad to start and it was ok - had a warm bacon vinegarette which you never see anymore, however it was far too heavy on the oil. Husband got the bone-in filet at $59...no seasoning at all. Good size - ordered medium - it was a little red inside but he ate it. For me, it was way too charred and the server did explain the char so I guess my husband was o.k. with it. The server did explain that it could have less char and I would definitely suggest that if you don't like char. I got the mac n cheese w/lobster added $18. It was good: very creamy & great panko crust w/decent pieces of lobster...my only complaint is that one of the cheeses (he said there were 4) made it have a kind of "tangy" tasting...not smooth (from a taste standpoint, not texture -the texture was great, smooth & creamy). The mac n cheese is actually a side but he mentioned it could be ordered as a main w/4 oz. of lobster added. It was a good size if you aren't a huge portion eater which I am not. So if you like tangy cheeses, this would be perfect. We got the creamed corn as a side: I actually loved it - best part of the meal! It wasn't creamy in the traditional sense, e.g. thicker and sweet. I HATE sweet creamed corn so I am glad is wasn't sweet - only sweet from the sweetness of the corn. I prefer savory. It had bacon and scallions...the fat was not rendered out of the bacon - big pet peeve....but the pieces were diced so finely that it was tolerable. We were celebrating our anniversary which we mentioned so they gave us a free cheesecake for dessert. It was good and very nice that they did this! They had decent priced wine - $9-$10...I absolutely hate it when the only options are $12-$20...so they get kudos here on a good selection for all price points. They were playing some funky music which we asked our server about and it was Sirius. We loved it though my husband did comment that it was pretty funky for this old school kind of steak house :) The service was excellent so a hit there. I just think the steak was a miss with no seasoning - or maybe it was just charred off! The bread should be changed - they should have hand-made little rolls, not bread that looks like "loaf" bread. Not sure if the bacon dressing was just a miss on the batch or if that is the recipe, but if it is, needs more vinegar and way less oil and more emulsifier. I would take out the tangy cheese and add cream cheese for the mac n cheese. Capital Grille is far superior, Ruth's Chris and Stoney River are also better. To us, this is like Flemings - overpriced for what you get. I would not be interested in going here again unless someone else paid for it.

There is nothing wrong with this restaurant. The service was friendly, but itās hard to make up for the sheer volume of noise and that was on a night that was not overly crowded. The food was fine, the stakes are OK and the sides were the same as any other steakhouse in any other city that you might have visited. Just my opinion but I think there are better steak houses in Atlanta.

I have always loved McKendrick's. Great bar, good service (ask for Mark aka Dods) good food. HOWEVER, it was ridiculously HOT! If you walk in the front door and the AC doesn't hit you in the face, LEAVE! Come on, you have to keep the AC running in your restaurant.

Have eaten here many times over the years when traveling on business in Atlanta. Was always great and enjoyed it. But something has changed. We went early with a large group and hardly anyone was there yet. We finally had to call our server over to take our order which was disappointing. Then the steaks were not exactly cooked to what most ordered. One guy got rare, but it looked like it hardly hit the grill. A medium was more like medium well. Then of course we waited forever for the server to deliver, then process the bill. Still a decent place but this restaurant has lost something along the way

I've been to all the "best steak places" in metro-Atlanta, as well as around the US and I keep coming back to McKendrick's for is consistent quality food and outstanding service.

I was with a large party and this place delivered. A limited assortment menu of appys, salad, entrees sides and desserts made for an easy selection. This carnivore ordered the lump crab cake appy (awesome by GA standards);the Caesar salad with awesome fresh Parmesan, the 16oz ribeye cooked perfectly, great sides of garlic spinach, mashed potatoes and asparagus and the house cheesecake. Everything very good. Service outstanding. Ambiance? Classic. A great evening. A great place.

The best steak and sides on this side of Atlanta. This is our family's go-to for a special meal. And get coffee! They have their own purveyor and after I raved about it, the server went and packaged some up for me to take home. Over the top!

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at McKendrick's last night. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. All the staff were extremely friendly and professional and they treated us to a dessert for our anniversary. A lovely meal.

Every single person we interacted with was friendly and attentive. The food was great, a solid steakhouse experience. My family had very good steaks and lamb chops. I had the tuna that was also delicious. The lobster mac and cheese was perfection as were the brussels sprouts. We enjoyed a very well prepared crab cake and fresh shrimp cocktail as well. If you are looking for a steakhouse this is the place.

I was there for the first time last night. Not only was our meal excellent, but so was the service. When you stop by, I recommend that you ask for Evan Jennings. He is very knowledgeable about their food and provided us with phenomenal service. Five Stars all the way!

I just want to thank Daniel for his outstanding service. He treated me & my family like family... thanks again... the bone in ribeye was amazing

Appetisers were house salad, Bibb salad and French Onion soup - all good But the steaks were great. The high heat grill was perfect for delivering an excellent New York strip, Pittsburgh style. Others enjoyed the filets and a rib eye. Attentive server ensured all ran smoothly.

Although the Porterhouse I ordered looked the part it did not taste the part. I think they forgot to season it. Have to be honest Longhorns serves a steak with more flavor sadly.

One of the best steaks I've ever eaten! Good to the very last bite. The shrimp cocktail was delicious. Great service. Just Awesome!

McKendricks offers a variety of items on the menu. Steaks and seafood are the main items and I selected a 6oz stake and a ceasar. both were well prepared and to my satisfaction. Service was very good and fast.

Had a business meeting here, the atmosphere was welcoming. Staff was friendly and the service was excellent. The specials that night was wagyu steak, so what a treat! The steak was cooked the way I requested and the sides were the perfect portion size to share. You can't go wrong here! Definitely a "5" in my book! I don't give out 'Excellent' ratings likely...

McKendrick's has been our special occasion restaurant for more than a decade. Yes, it can be pricey, but it is more than worth it. The steaks are the best north of the Perimeter, and the (fried!) lobster is out of this world delicious. The service and ambience are peerless.

I was very disappointed, I traveled over 600 miles to take an old friend I had not seen in 22 years to dinner. I called another friend who was a Atlanta native to find out the best place in Atlanta for dinner. After some thought he shared with me that the most fantastic waiter he had ever seen was a guy names Michael @ Mc Hendrick's Steak house. He said the guy was a real entertainer, and We would love it. I called and made reservations a week in advance and made reservations. I asked the gal on the phone about Michael. I made a special request that he be our waiter. When I arrived I was very disappointed when the very nice lady waiting on us said mike was off that evening. She did a fine job. I just wish someone would of told me the waiter I had made the special request for was not going to be in. I would of gone elsewhere. The food was very ordinary. If this is ranked in some eyes as one the top ten steak joints in America, THEY NEED GLASSES! I have ate at St. Elmo's in Indy 6 or 7 times. St. Elmo's is 6 or 7 times better than McHendrick's. 3 days before eating here I had dinner at Hall's in Charleston. Wow, Hall's service was Incredible. Hall's food was the kind of meal you Dream of. McHendricks is a place I would like to forget. The only highlight was they did have tasty coconut pie.

I have never been disappointed in this restaurant by either a meal or the service. The staff has always been courteous, professional, and efficient. This last visit I changed from my usual steak meal and ordered sea bass, oysters rockefeller, and au gratin potatoes---superb! The past couple of visits I have also had the distinct pleasure of meeting and speaking with the manager, Brian. I hope you have a chance to do the same--he is a delightful person and an engaging conversationalist. For me, he has become the "icing on the cake" for my visits there. I hope you enjoy the experience as much as I do.

We arrived late in the evening and wearing jeans after a long day of shopping. Needless to say that we were probably the only people there wearing jeans! The service was excellent as was the food. Everything is Ala Carte and pricey but you can bet that it's truly worth it. Can't wait to get back to ATL and dine here again.

Be prepared for the way they cook it...charred on the outside and medium rare on the inside. We tried it that way and wished we had them cook it the way we are used to eating it but it was a good dinner.

Group of friends in town for a wedding weekend and wanted to enjoy a nice steakhouse. Surprisingly, the seafood was better than the steaks. The ambience was nice along with friendly staff. Oysters were a great appetizer. Grouper was very good. Steaks were nothing special which is what we were looking forward to at a steakhouse. Two of the filets were undercooked bad enough that the waitress immediately took them back (ordered medium rare but came out as a blue rare; the other steak was a medium came out as rare). Recooking them only made an extra layer of the already very charred steak. Suggest to cook a new steak next time. Overall, we had a so-so experience.

Celebrations at this fantastic restaurant are a given. Consistently tasty, meals prepared to perfection, courteous wait staff and a lovely atmosphere made our evening. We asked for a quieter table and it was accomplished with ease. Another wonderful dining experience.

I've said it before, there is no better steak in Atlanta then the one you will find here. I have tried them all and this is my favorite year after year.

Great FOOD. I love good food. Food is everything. Lol. The best creme brulee LIKE EVER! We (husband and I) had a wonderful time. Very attentive staff.

First of all, the inside of the restaurant is nice but not breath-taking, considering the prices of their food. It appears that it was very first class years ago. On our first visit, for our anniversary, my husband and I were seated in one of the leather booths so that we had more than enough room. Our waiter that night, I think his name was Patrick, was very helpful with questions about the menu and our selections, what we liked, and how we wanted it prepared, and even said that if I didn't like one particular thing he would take it back. He also managed to, without being intrusive, always keep our water or wine glasses filled and the table cleaned. All of our food came out just as perfectly as we had ordered and hoped it would be. My french onion soup was very good and the filet mignon which I had ordered came out with the perfect char and the perfectly medium well internal temperature I requested. On this night we truly enjoyed our meal and felt it was worth the money. The second time around however; not so much. We were taking my son and his wife here to celebrate our son's birthday. We (four of us) were all sat at a small table and felt that we had to constantly juggle our dishes and glasses all during the dinner service. We ordered soups or salads, and our entrees, sides, etc. The soups and salads came out together which was no problem as no one had ordered both. The problem came when our entrees began to arrive and we hadn't finished our salads. Mine wasn't even half gone! They took away our salads in order to serve all of us our main courses, my husband and I both had ordered steak, and since I wanted mine more well done than my husband wanted his, the waiter decided to have them butterfly (destroy) my filet mignon so it would cook faster. When my husband cut into his steak, it was waaay underdone, so he ended up having to send it back to be cooked some more. They had taken away our half-eaten salads to hurriedly serve us expensively priced steaks which were served to us cooked some other way than what we requested. There is really no excuse for that in such a highly expensive steak house. We were really disappointed with the second visit, being rushed through a very expensive meal, and not sure if we will give them another chance. What is really disappointing though, is that someone, and I am pretty sure it was the owner, knew we were not happy with our second experience and did nothing to try to fix it.

McKendrick's designation as a top steak house is well-deserved. The red leather booths, dark wood and white table cloths set high expectations from the onset. And the restaurant delivered. The cocktails, appetizers, sides and entrees were perfect. I highly recommend the filet.

Donāt get me wrong the food was very tasty, but there are better steaks, cheaper, in the city. We were up in Sandy Springs got an event, this place was close by and my husband wanted steak for his birthday. We enjoyed ourselves and the atmosphere, but I will definitely not drive all the way out there to go back. As other reviews have stated, it is rather loud, but that doesnāt bother us.

I recently had a dinner meeting here that included my boss and a very important customer. We were recognized and seated immediately upon arrival. Our primary server "Taco", greeted us immediately. He not only was professional, but was full of personality. We had individual appetizers and we all ordered different cuts of steaks. We each ordered a side and then shared them. The steaks had a great flavor, were of appropriate size, and cooked perfectly. Although we didn't have room, we of course ordered desserts. A wonderful bottle of Silver Oaks Napa Cabernet added greatly to the meal. You will not be disappointed having dinner at this McKendrick's. Please order the Lobster Mac and Cheese! Not a complaint, but you must be aware that this is a very expensive restaurant. I believe it averaged over $200 per person.

Hold our business meetings at McKenrickās whenever in town this place is always top notch. Wonder Prime steaks served by professional servers overseen by Claudia and Doug McKenrickās. Nothing better than a family owned AND operated independent restaurant. These people care - go to McKenrickās you will be glad you did!

Business dinner. Friendly valet. Friendly hostess. Excellent service from Paul. Bone In RibEye was cooked to perfection. Dessert was top notch. Will return soon with more business clients.

Had dinner there for the first time. Typically, when dining out at a steak house I go for a cut of steak I don't normally eat at home. The other night was no different. The bone-in filet was fantastic. And the side dishes were equally as good...

Hosted a business dinner at McKendrickās. If you have a large party reserve the private dining room. Solid menu. Great service.

I had the pleasure on a recent Friday to have lunch at Mckendrick's. The service and the food were excellent. Our server was very cheerful and attended to our table's every need with a smile. I started with the French onion soup followed by the crab cake plate which was light but very satisfying. And the grilled asparagus was cooked perfectly tender. My wife had the lightly fried jumbo shrimp - and I mean jumbo. My business associate had a wonderful looking grilled chicken Caesar salad. We followed that with a couple of shared deserts of raspberry sorbet and apple crisp with ice cream. I will definitely try them again when I'm back in that part of Atlanta.

Have been three times on business trips. Great steaks, atmosphere and staff. Not my favourite in Atlanta but right up there. Would definitely recommend.

Tonight it was a great experience eating appetizer , then a delicious wine, the service perfect! And the main plate : excellent ! They know how to cook meat! Manager is always taking care about you ! Even the valet parking is so nice ! Congratulations !

I cannot say enough good about McKendrickās. I love their steaks, their service, and the atmosphere. I love the tomahawk and the bone in ribeye. Their sides are terrific. The garlic fries and onion rings are my favorite. Their slightly dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives are the best Iāve had. Their bar staff is the best Iāve seen. I have had high end steaks at many of places in Atlanta. McKendrickās is a hidden gem. Do not miss out on this place if you love steak.

Had an awesome lunch before massages! I had the scallops and they were cooked to perfection! Great service!

This was not my first meal at McKendrick's Steak House but was one of my best. When I walked in to the restaurant the place was hopping (slightly high noise level when crowded). However, we were seated right away in a convenient booth in the corner away from the noisy middle of the room. Our waiter (Marcus) was outstanding. Big smile. Courteous service. Great sense of humor. He knows the menu and was efficient without being intrusive. I was having a business dinner with a colleague and Marcus was tuned in to our dialog and was very attentive. We started with drinks and oysters. Outstanding way to begin the meal. My colleague and I shared raw Blue Points as well as baked oysters and they were outstanding. And, of course, we had to have steak so we both ordered the bone in filet. We shared an order of sauteed spinach and the fresh bread was lovely. We also shared a very nice bottle of Twomey Pinot Noir and it was delicious. This is one of the best steak houses in Atlanta and the service is always outstanding. While the establishment is a bit off the beaten path and not visible from the main road, it is a great place for a business or personal meal. We were told that the Monday to Thursday crowd is mostly business clients but I recommend this place for any meal no matter the occasion.

When you talk about great steak houses in Atlanta, McKendrick's does not come to mind immediately. However, it should be ranked among the top restaurants in the City. Recently had lunch with colleagues there and the service, as always, was impeccable. They consistently perform above the standard in my opinion. Lovely ambiance inside but it is noisy when the dining room is full. Started with a salad "wedge" with bacon, cherry tomatoes and a little extra bleu cheese on top. Lovely starter. Then I had the chopped sirloin steak and it was above average but not exceptional. Carmelized onions on top added some flavor but the meat was pretty bland. The side of sauteed garlic spinach was outstanding. MY colleagues had a tuna sandwich (daily special) with fries the portion was enormous. My other partner had salad topped with grilled salmon. Both dishes looked terrific and, even though I have been trying to stay away from carbohydrates, I did have to have a piece of the hot, fresh bread with butter. Old school but delicious. Overall an above average meal with excellent service. Our waiter was a pro and remained very attentive refilling water glasses, bringing more bread, etc. This place is a bit hard to find and you cannot see it from the main road. However, it is a good place for lunch or dinner.

Four of us dined here last night. Our waiter was very helpful in explaining to the two that had never dined here before. His suggestions on entrees, sides, and wines were excellent. I think you can rely on the waiters to make good recommendations.

Excellent food, right sized portions and a marvallous service. The wine recommendation was a great fit. The vanilla ice cream though had no vanilla taste. Need to find a better supplier.

Listed as one of Americas Top 10 steakhouses I had to try it, as I've eaten at most of the top rate ones in the country. My Porterhouse steak was grill to perfection, seasoned beautifully with a great char. My wife had the veal chop which was equally well prepared. I was not impressed.by the French Onion soup was heavy in the beef flavor base and to much bay leaf. The heirloom salad was short on the heirlooms and had more of the beefsteak tomato. The steamed broccoli was bland, the mushrooms were prepared was heavily flavored with wine and vinegar. The mushroom risotto was done to perfection. Make it a point not to sit to close to the bar area as the noise from the bar was much to much to carry on an type of romantic dinner..Our waiter was top shelf, always there when we needed him and out of site when he should have been. In short, the pricing was what should be expected from a Prime Steakhouse, but the balance of food balance was not worth the money.

It doesn't get much better if you want a wonderful steak with top notch service and perfectly prepared food. We cancelled reservations at a WELL KNOWN Atlanta steakhouse next weekend so we can revisit McKendricks.

I've never been in such a noisy (terrible acoustics!) fine dining establishment EVER. It's too bad. The service and food was incredible, but the fact that you had to shout the entire meal in an attempt to carry a conversation was a huge turn off. Definitely not a great location for a romantic date, or a serious business conversation.

My husband and I both had steaks, petite filet for me, bone in filet for him. We shared grilled vegetables and a potato side dish, which are very share-able. The steak was perfect, the sides, were wonderful, just very expensive unless you are eating on an expense account.

about doug and his wonderful establishment...we are treated like kings, service is wonderful and food is AAAAAAAAAmazing...I used to think that chops and Bones ruled the Atlanta independent steakhouse scene, but NOT NO MO!

Had a wonderful meal with family yesterday. The food was excellent- perfectly prepared. Our server was on the ball and made excellent recommendations. Would definitely visit again.

Had a dinner with our partner. This was not the first time, but enjoyed pretty much for steak and wine again! Good to go.

My wife and I tried McKendrick's for Thanksgiving Day. You could order from the regular dinner menu or there were a few Thanksgiving Day specials. The service was exceptional. Our waiter made a few suggestions that turned out well. Your water glasses were filled regularly. A number of staff coordinated with each other to make you feel special. I ordered the She Crab Soup which was delightful with small pieces of crab. It was rich with flavor. My wife had the Stone Crab appetizer. It was a large portion of three perfectly cracked crab claws and lots of fresh crab meat to devour. It was served with a mild remoulade sauce. Very tasty dish but it was expensive as an appetizer. My wife ordered the traditional turkey dinner with moist sliced pieces of turkey, gravy, dressing, and a couple of trimmings. I had the prime rib cooked medium. The waiter came out with a brontosaurus size piece of prime rib. I had left overs for the next day. It was cooked medium except around the edges. The meat on the bone was cooked well done and it was a bit salty. Otherwise, the prime rib was cooked medium and was moist, tender, and tasty. it was served with a horseradish sauce which had little taste. I would definitely add more horseradish to this sauce and also provide an option of au jus sauce. We also ordered the macaroni and cheese with lobster and wild mushrooms with risotto. The wild mushrooms and risotto was mouthwatering. The thinly sliced mushrooms had a wonderful fresh and full taste. The risotto was cooked perfectly. The macaroni and cheese with lobster was good but there was not much lobster added to this side dish. I ordered a Bloody Mary which was better than average. My wife ordered a mimosa and glass of wine. The glass of red wine had a nice bouquet and it was smooth tasting. The wines and liquor prices were higher in price than in most restaurants. We saw a number of regular guests who knew the manager, chef and staff. I would think these guests are likely to be affluent because a dinner meal at McKendrick's will easily cost you more than $200.00 without a tip. For us this type of a meal is for a special occasion. I heard the steaks at McKendrick's are top notched. The prices are comparable to what you would pay for a steak dinner in Buckhead which the trendy part of Atlanta for more higher priced regal restaurants. If money is no obstacle or you want to spurge then McKendrick's is definitely a place for a wonderful dinner or a power lunch.

This is a prime steakhouse. Nice bar area but the quality of the steaks was great. Excellent waiters. and a very good wine list.

We brought our now soon to be High Schooler here for a special lunch. Could not have been a better experience. The waitstaff is always impeccable. Food was fantastic with a lunch special Steak Oscar and a couple fish entrees. Great desserts - water comp'd our son's dessert which made him feel very special.

You can always count on the staff and quality of service at McKendrickās. The steaks are amazing. I also enjoy the shrimp cocktail. I can honestly say the filet is consistently the best in town. The are some quality steakhouses in Atlanta, but in my opinion this is consistently one of the best.

I love going here for dinner and especially for a lunch that is special. The service is impeccable and the chef knows how to add that extra touch that make a meal memorable. Although we spent two hours eating and talking no one tried to rush us or make us feel we should hurry up.. I like that.

Went for our anniversary. Our reservation was early so not crowded or loud. They had set aside a nice, large curved booth. Service was perfect. Kimberly took great care of us. Was very attentive yet gave us our privacy. Perfect balance for a server. My husband said his steak was the best he has ever had. He travels a good bit and eats at high end restaurants. My scallops were amazing. The restaurant gave us a complimentary slice of cheesecake for our anniversary. Really nice evening out!

what do you want...steak...seafood...mckendricks signature salad...soup...all AWESOME...plus great friendly personal service all adding up to one of the best dining experiences in Atlanta...no "attitude" like the buckhead steakhouses...just pure excellence!

Went here to celebrate a MILESTONE! This place did not disappoint one but! Starting with plenty of parking, all the way to dessert! The staff is not only friendly, but knowledgeable and accommodating. Priced just right for a special occasion.

Service here, in our case, was of the type that you have to look around for your server and summon him for anything you needed. No quarrel with the food but it was not so good that I would be willing to overlook the subpar service.

Exceptional service. Mouth watering dishes. In a very romantic ambiance. With a vast wine selection.

Came to McKendricks for an early dinner with my mom. Ambiance upon entry was nice, very comfortably but dimly lit to give a romantic air but not dark enough to make it difficult to see your companion and make small talk. We virtually had the restaurant to ourselves as we dine quite early which made the experience all the more enjoyable. They played a nice collection of classic oldies up to 80s music which gave the restaurant a more comfortable vibe then strictly elegant and fine dress. (Dress code is business casual). Waiter was cordial, well groomed, and uniform nicely pressed. This made me like the place even more as I have been to some fine dining establishments in which the staff are unkempt and it diminishes the feel and ambiance of the restaurant entirely. He answered questions did not rush us and was assisted by others who also were cordial. Another good thing to note they bring you a delicious variety of bread which can be refilled upon request!!! Shared the NY strip steak with my mom, medium well, with lobster Mac and cheese. The steak was cooked to perfection with a warm slightly pink center, edges were not burnt but crisp. Additional flavoring was minimal as it was not necessary as the steak was cooked in such a fine manner that the natural elements of the steak were brought to the forefront creating a delicious and succulent meal. The lobster Mac and cheese had a generous portion of lobster within and was cheesy warm and all deliciousness. We also had two salads which in retrospect we would probably leave that out or the appetizer not because it was by any means not good but because there was so much food and we were stuffed beyond recognition by the end of the meal. If you want a well cooked steak then I would not hesitate to recommend McKendricks and will be back in the future.

Dined here with a group of ten. Seafood tower with bbq shrimp, crab cakes, and more were fantastic! Filet's were cooked perfectly and melted I your mouth. Saw other different cuts of meat around the table and everyone look very please. Lobster Mac and cheese is awesome! Deserts are good! Coconut cream pie and Bread Pudding were spot on! Expensive but worth a treat to yourself!

We sat at the bar and ate. The food and wine selection were amazing but the bartender Frank was great.

This place is in my opinion the best Steakhouse in Atlanta and honestly the best Steakhouse I've ever eaten at. This was my 4th time here and the food has been phenomenal every trip. Ive been with just my wife and up to a party of 10 with my family. Everyone of us brags about how great the food is and how everything we've ordered has been Fantastic!! Great service from the staff!! Great job "Mike the Waiter"

Dined here with colleagues one evening. The steaks were excellent and the sides helped complete a very elegant business dinner. The service from start to finish was outstanding - we could not have been treated better. It is tucked away from the street so not the easiest to see but worth the extra effort to find.

Came here for a birthday dinner with a party of 5 and we each loved our meal! Most had steak and one had seafood and it was all prepared exactly correctly. 2 of us split a steak and they actually prepared it 2 different ways. The sides were delicious and our service was excellent. This might become my new favorite steak house in Atlanta!

Our waitstaff was excellent, we were allowed to sit in a large, leather round booth, very comfortable and romantic. Our waiter took his time and even allowed us to share a large steak rather than waste two, as we were not local, no doggy bag. The sweet potato my husband ordered was so big, I've never seen one that big. i had the beets and was in 'beet' heaven, my husband tried to finish mine off. lol. The potatoes au gratin and I could go on. I will suggest that you share the sides as well. Plentiful portions, we will be back!

We celebrated a wedding anniversary at McKendrick's and had a spectacular evening. McKendrick's is a great steak place with delicious food and stunningly spectacular service. When we made our reservation we asked for an out-of-the way table for an anniversary celebration dinner. We we given a lovely booth in a corner of the restaurant. Everyone wised us a Happy Anniversary and we were treated to a surprise dessert. Our evening was made special by the McKendrick's Team and especially by Antonio. Our steaks were superb and our evening was special. We will probably celebrate our next anniversary at McKendrick's!

It is one of the truly classic steakhouses. Relax let the excellent staff take care of you. The charred steaks are the best in Atlanta!

Excellent choice of typical US steaks very well prepared , cooked and served, The atmosphere is calm and helps for the conversation for businness or friendly meeting. The choice of meats and preparations is remarkable

We visited family in the Atlanta area and had a celebratory meal at McKendrick's. It was very enjoyable! The food was outstanding! We have never had better steaks---they were cooked perfectly! The side dishes were so delicious---we especially enjoyed the asparagus and the lobster mac and cheese. The service was excellent. Our waiter informed us that we were welcome to split entrees, etc. My husband and I split a steak as well as dessert, and everything came plated separately with no extra charge. The manager stopped by to ask if everything was fine. It was an expensive meal, but well worth the price for a special occasion. We will be back.

Decided to take my girlfriend here for her B-Day and was very excited to try the menu being that we were visiting Atlanta for the weekend. Once we walked in it fit the typical steak house restaurant with a fine dining twist. The host sat us in a great booth and we waited to be served. Now I will say that the service was up to par like it should be but the food was subpar. We ordered the crab cakes, lamb chops, lobster macaroni and the seafood salad. Now the crab cake was small but good and the macaroni was great as well. The Lamb Chops were under cooked and had to be taken back to be re-cooked and still wasnāt up to standard when it came out. The seafood salad was fresh and would have been great but it had crab shells in It which made it difficult to eat. Iām giving the place a 2 just because of the prompt services but the food just didnāt win me or my girlfriend over for her birthday dinner. Also paying $115.00 and having the food taste so, so doesnāt sit well with me. If you decide to go here I guess just get some wine and the crab cakes and thatās it.

Approximately 2 years ago we moved about 60 miles from Atlanta up to Lake Lanier so our ability to visit this incredible establishment is somewhat limited. Upon flying back into Atlanta we stop in and had dinner last night and it was one of the best meals we've had in Atlanta in five years. The environment is incredible, the wait staff is even better. Our waiter's name was Mike and I would highly recommend asking for him. I can't remember having a better steak and I just finished the remnants of the lobster mac & cheese today. This is a must try establishment for incredible steaks, wine and even seafood

My husband and I came here on our last day of vacation. It was the perfect way to end our trip. The food at McKendrick's is divine. Everything we ate was incredible. My husband ordered swordfish and was very pleased. My filet mignon was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. The culmination of this meal was the creme brulee. If there is one thing you need to order here, it is that creme brulee. I will never forget it. It was that sensational. Aside from the fantastic food, the atmosphere and service was impeccable. On a date night without our daughter, this restaurant was everything we needed. Beautiful decor, great view, and such a pleasant atmosphere. We didn't want to leave. This is in our top three of best meals we've ever had. We will absolutely come back here again.

The atmosphere is romantic and during busy hours it can get quite loud. The wait staff is very attentive. The main courses are cooked to perfection. If you like salmon, try McKendrick's Scottish SALMON! I've had it twice in the past 6 months: consistently prepared to a mouthwatering blend of amazing textures and flavors. It's highly addictive. I would stay away from the Appetizer Tower for 2 people (you choose 3 items). Taste wise it's great, but for the price you get very little food (2 oysters, 2 shrimp, and 2 chunks of lobster: $50). You're better off ordering a regular appetizer because you'll get more food.

This was a great restaurant that we had never been to, and now I wish I had discovered it sooner. It has a very nice atmosphere, with comfy booths separated from the next booth, so you can feel like you're the only ones around. Service was wonderful, and very easy, not stuffy. The steaks were delicious, and the salads and sides were great. The beets were the best I've ever had. This is a wonderful place for a birthday or anniversary, or just anything.

Sometimes the simple things in life are often the best. I ordered the French onion soup which was divine. Trust me, Iām a froggy. I then had the macaroni and cheese with lobster......an ultimate decadence.

Excellent meal. I had a medium bone in rib eye steak(cooked just right) , lobster mac n cheese(actually had chunks of lobster in it), and spinach with garlic. Wait staff was knowledgeable, service was great, and decor was nice. Very comfortable environment

Actually went two nights in a row! First night was a great bone in filet, cooked perfect and taste was great! Second night was lamb chop, again cooked and tasted perfect. Sat at bar, great service and great drinks! Would highly recommend!!

A group of us shared a semi private room. The food and service were excellent. The French Onion soup, filet, mashed potatoes and onion rings were all good. Best I ever had? - No, but good, nevertheless. The acoustics were terrible, even in the restaurant itself and our side room was no different. We almost had to yell to communicate. To top it off the people on the other side of the partition were EXTREEMLY loud, yelling, whistling. They were so rude. Our idea of a good meal in a nice setting was ruined completely. Could not wait to get our of there. Will not go back. Sorry.

Ask for Evan, he was attentive and not over bearing.. great service! I started my meal with an amazing bowl of black bean soup puree... I highly recommend this.. I can say enough about how amazing. I then had the 8oz (seemed bigger) filet that was topped with lump crab meat and 2 asparagus which all came together quite nicely and was plenty of food for me. I then finished with an amazing cheesecake made in house that is done with a very nice pecan crust. I look forward to my next visit here, no need to eat at the other steak houses in the area anymore!

In Atlanta visiting our son and looking for a good steakhouse. McKendrick's is a great local old style steakhouse with wood panel interior and all of the service and ambiance that goes along. Menu was comprehensive, wine list excellent. Service was outstanding throughout the entire night. I have to say that I do not like salt, which is something that they used a lot of on every dish, so this does taint my view of the food quality, but my son (who does not share my distain for salt) considered the steak excellent.

Absolutely love everything about this place. We go every Father's Day and birthday. Plus other special events as well. Great appetizers salads seafood steak wine and dessert.

Dined here, while in town on business. The food and service were both outstanding... yet a bit pricey. There wine list is notable, with lots of outstanding wines to choose from.

I went to McKendrick's for a Business Lunch with 5 of my co-workers. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. The ambiance was excellent for a lunch meal. I had fried oysters with a very tasty dipping sauce. I highly recommend.

BEWARE the McKendrick's sneaky RIP-OFF. I had lunch yesterday for the first and last time yesterday. In addition to the large filet that I ordered, I asked the waiter if they had any lobsters because none were on the menu. After checking, he said they had some half pounders and a one pounder and I ordered the one pounder knowing that a one pound lobster is not that much meat. When I received the bill, the charge for just the one pound lobster was $100.00 and this was at lunch, not dinner! I asked the waiter if that was a mistake and he said no, so I asked to see the manager. She reaffirmed that was the price and when I asked her why the waiter didn't warn me of the outrageous overcharge before I ordered it, she said he didn't because some patrons get offended by that type of a heads-up because they think it implies that the patron might not be able to afford it. A desperate response and pure nonsense because I don't know anyone, regardless of how wealthy they might be, who would be offended by a waiter alerting them to a $100.00 cost for a one pound lobster at lunch. On that theory, I'm not sure why McKendrickās has any prices at all on their menu because everything is expensive, or why in almost every other restaurant, the waiter announces the price of any special items being offered that day without any prompting or inquiry by the patron, regardless of their net worth. I then asked to see the chef who very matter of factly said that was the price and then he was off. Not once did anyone offer an apology. I looked at McKendrick's menu online and saw that on their dinner menu, they have a lobster appetizer for $17.95 and they have lobster tails (plural) for $59.95, almost half as much as the $100.00 one pounder at lunch. Apparently, at dinner, the restaurant is not concerned that they will offend any of their patrons by letting them know the cost of lobster by printing the price on the menu or maybe they figure that $59.95 for lobster tails (plural) at dinner isnāt quite the rip-off of $100.00 for a single one pounder at lunch. The good news is that McKendrick's may not be running this scam for much longer. My experience has been that when a restaurant resorts to this sort of desperation, itās usually because itās going under and trying anything to stay afloat. My advice would be to stay away. Visited January 2016

Went with 4 folks Sat Night.Waiter was Michael. Had 8oz filet,8 oz Wagu filet,30oz prime rib and wife had the lobster appetizer as a meal. Sides were lobster mac and cheese and au gratin potatotes.Everything was cooked to perfection.I dont like mac and cheese and ate it,it was that good.Bread pudding to die for.It was full but service was very good.Alayws gte the banquet tables in back, a little more quiet.Great nite.$400 for 4 people with bottel wine.

My husband and I just had an amazing time at McKendrickās! Evan, our server was so attentive and helpful when making choices with the menu. Itās so refreshing to go out and have a wonderful meal and even better service!

No doubt one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. The baked potato was perfection. The service was superb. The tables are close together creating a crowded and loud atmosphere. It was difficult to carry on a conversation where we were seated. Once we got used to the noise we all started leaning in to talk. Nice experience and worth the cost. I recommend that you go early evening or late to avoid the busy time and hopefully the noise.

We recently went to McKendrick's for a family special occasion. Two steaks were perfect, and two weren't. We received several apologies and the steaks were re-done, but I expected better from this steakhouse, especially for the price. Salads were very good, and so were the sides.

Service good . Food is below average . Way over priced. Not recommended,Any Outback or longhorn are better.

Atlanta is blessed with so so many top class steak restaurants I would put it up there with just about any city I know so it takes quite a bit to stand out from the crowd. Doug McKendrick and his team have been around for some time now and take nothing for granted. Attentive service, knowledgeable and respectful, they appreciate your business. Food quality is right up there with the best, and portion size of side orders are gargantuan so go steady with how much you order. You'll have a really good evening, or lunch come that should you so choose.

If youāre looking for a āknockoutā place for a special occasion, high-end client entertainment, or just want to indulge yourself...this is the place! Outstanding service by a wait staff in traditional white jackets, drinks, and exceptional food. McKendrickās will remind you of an era gone by...wood paneling, spacious interior, booths...you absolutely found a gem in Atlanta!

Service and environment was excellent. Had the shrimp as a starter, they split the dish between two people opposed to us doing it ourselves. Ordered a bottle of red wine and it was served like a master. The Salmon was cooked exactly how one would want it and they side of broccoli was done right. Nothing bad to say at all. Wonderful experience. Thanks.

My wife and I spent a weekend in the Westin Peachtree Plaza and chose to walk everywhere during the weekend. Cuts Steakhouse is perfect for a quiet dinner, quality food, excellent service. A very memorable evening and I highly recommend this restaurant.

Ate at the bar with my son and had wonderful service from Amber. The special stone crab claws were the highlight of the evening as they were some of the best Iāve had, very flavorful and velvety smooth. Bone in Ribeye was very good. Wine selection by the glass not as extensive as other high end steak joints but very high quality. Overall was very good dinner although it is hard for me to differentiate between Flemingās and Capital Grill and McKendricks....I think all have great steaks, all rather pricey but worth it, and generally speaking, excellent service. I think McKendricks and Flemingās better service than Cap Grill based on my 10+ experiences in the last 12ā18 mos.

We arrived on a Tuesday at 8:00PM, the place was packed. The level of noise was so high that we literally had to shout at each other to communicate. The waiter told us about the specials of the day and we could not hear what he was saying. We had steaks, salad and baked potatoes which where all quite good. I ordered red wine by the glass which was too warm to my taste. The bill was 200$ for two (no appetizers and only two glasses of Malbec from Argentina) which I consider too expensive for what we got. I tipped the waiter a 15% which he probably considered not enough as he didnāt even say thank you.

First and foremost, the steaks here are just phenomenal. I don't have a problem paying more for a steak as long as I know it is high-quality meat. It was cooked perfectly and melt-in-your-mouth good. The lobster mac-n-cheese was also incredible; it was so fresh and delicious and I actually got a whole lobster claw in my dish! The service is also amazing. I made reservations for a pretty large group (15 people) about a week ahead of time and I didn't have any problems whatsoever. The server we had during our visit was also friendly and knowledgable, and did an excellent job taking care of all of us. Perfect for date nights or special occasions.

We have eaten here before. I have reviewed before. It was excellent as always. I like to update reviews so folks can tell if a place is resting on its laurels. McKendrick's seems to always deliver. To be host, when I review something I renew I gave them an excellent, so I use them to set the bar. We have been eating at high end steak places around Atlanta. McKendrick's has beaten them every one. I get the tomahawk ribeye if possible. Paul was our waiter this trip. I would ask for him. Make sure to finish the evening with bread pudding and an Irish coffee

The experience was wonderful until I was served vomit inducing oysters The worst I have had in 25 years It was only one thank goodness but it was the last one at this establishment

Took my wife here for our anniversary dinner while coming through Atlanta on our way home from a mountain getaway. The atmosphere is that of a fine dining experience, from dimly lit faux candles on the tables to wait staff dressed in jackets, tables set with all the dinnerware placed perfectly. This was our first visit here. The person in charge, Mark assigned us a table and had a waiter set us. With many open tables, we were placed immediately in front of the hallway to the restrooms, I look up to see the ceiling to see the attached pic, ( looks like with their prices, they could repair the ceiling) the 10 oz. filet was approx 55 bucks by itself with approx another 10 bucks for the sides each. And 3.50 for the beverage. I ordered the 10 oz and my wife the 8 oz, both with a baked potato, when they arrived, mine was delicious, hers was charred far too much and was inedible. Since we didnt order a salad, our waiter, Marcus, removed our salad forks from our table, (after we had already began the bread) and he placed them on a prep station next to our table where another waiter walked by and picked them up and took them with a dessert entree to another table. WTH? Anyway, Mark came by and thanked us for coming, with my wife's $45 filet sitting on the opposite side of the table from her and never asked us why. I mentioned to him that he sat us in front of the restrooms with all those empty tables, and he stated ours was one of his more requested tables before he walked away. When Marcus returned I pointed out to him that her steak was inedible. He took it to the back. Mark then returned and removed it from our bill. In fairness, my steak was good and Mark did try to please us once we made it known that hers wasn't good. And we did leave Marcus a $20 tip on top of our $85 dollar bill for one steak, two potatoes, and two drinks. I dont mind paying a premium for good food, but at those prices EVERYTHING should be perfect, from the food to the fixtures. This was the evening of our anniversary and my intent was to take my bride of 27 years to dine at an upscale establishment and have a romantic dinner. I'm so saddened that it did not turn out that way for us. We did however, go across the street and have a few slices of cheesecake for dessert.

We had a working business dinner recently at this restaurant on the Perimeter of Atlanta. Our waiter was distracted with a large table so we waited a long while to place our orders. Once this was done, the service picked up pace and was thereafter excellent. The food is fairly basic--standard steak house fare with several well done seafood options for appetizers and entrees for those who would prefer to avoid red meat. The wine list is American focused despite having a bio on Beaucastel in the wine list. The prices are moderate to high for wine. Vegetables need to be ordered separately. While some were excellent, like the garlic spinach, the asparagus was cut rather than snapped so there were several pieces that had inedible stems.

We had an excellent meal at Mckendricks. My wife had the salmon our friend had the sea bass. All meals were outstanding. In fact my ribeye was one of the best that I have had in awhile. The service was also very good as usual.

Quality of the steak was very good, but portions quite small even taking quality into account. Service a bit sloppy and slow. Nice decor and good live piano music which members of my party really enjoyed. Prices a bit high. Not very visible from main road and could be missed as it is hidden in back of small mall.

Located off of Ashwood Dunwoody in Atlanta this is the quintessential old time steak house. The experience is from a bygone era and not one that Iāll soon forget. Was there with business colleagues for a vendor mtg. If youāre looking to impress this is your place. From the decor to the ambiance to service everything is done to a T. Our waiter Marcus is at the top of his game. Engaging, and helpful he made the meal that much better. The food is to die for. I had the 8 oz filet, medium. Flavor like no other and Iāve eaten steak all over the continental US. Order the following sides to compliment the main dish: okra, iceberg wedge salad, four cheese macaroni and cheese, and the scallops. you wonāt be sorry. If I was staying longer Iād go again for dinner tomorrow. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. 10 out of 10

The warm ambiance, the friendly service, and the great quality prime steaks were fantastic! I can't wait to visit Atlanta again!

Took clients here for a business dinner and it didn't disappoint. They have an extensive wine list - as to be expected. They serve warm, spiced nuts at the bar! They have a varied selection of seafood items. The oysters and shrimp were so incredibly fresh and the crab cakes were especially good. For dinner, steaks, sea bass and fried lobster (yum!) were ordered for our table. Also the potatoes au gratin and asparagus were our sides - large enough to share and served family-style. Although we were too full to order dessert, the selection looked amazing. Definitely, go!

Everything is ala cart so know going in. Beautifully presented, attentive wait staff, delicious foods and beverages. We started with a dozen East Coast oysters and they were delicious. Had steak, fish and plenty of sides. Four of us, one couple shared a meal....$311

Thanks for the legendary service our server Kimberly provided us with great service, We visit here several times for a business meeting and both of our visit the food was excellent love your sides and of course our steaks are always perfect we will be definitely returning for the good food and legendary service again.

Prepared to perfection and very very tender, McKendricks continues to be one of the best in Atlanta. Asparagus and Brussel sprouts were also quite good. The only knock is it is a loud restaurant.

Fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere. Great food, great service, classy restaurant without the pretentiousness that can often occupy five star restaurants. Enjoyed tremendously.

This restaurant located near Perimeter Mall in Atlanta is an excellent find. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. And the restaurant is quiet enough to have a conversation with you fellow diners (a rarity this day and time). The steak i ordered (a NY Strip), was tender and juicy in spite of being cooked medium well as I requested. The waiter explained they have a unique marinating and precooking process for their steaks. The staff was attentive, helpful and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this restaurant. If you go you must order the lobster Mac and Cheese, I think you'll love it, I did.

McKendrick's is on of the best places in Atlanta to take an important client to lunch. The service is extremely attentive and never disappoints. We both had Sea Bass with Spinach and it was both tender, fresh, and tasty. The rolls they serve are fresh, warm, and addictive.

Our server had negative undertones. Pointed us to all the cheaper wines and entrees. She made very pointed references to all that is ala carte and not included as if we would expect otherwise and wouldn't understand the menu. She wasn't polished at all, nor what we expected from this type of establishment. The food and drink was mediocre at best and not worth the $400 spent. No Atlas for sure!!

Evan Jennings was an excellent server! He was kind and helpful explaining the menu. Also very polite. Be sure to ask for him! Thanks from your friends in SC!

We had an enjoyable time at this restaurant. The hostess did a great job getting all the guest seated as quickly as possible. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. We ordered the fried oysters for appetizers which I believe was understated by the waiter. This dish had a burst of flavor and was the highlight of our night. Our main courses were prepared to perfection. We had no complaints. Everyone around us appeared to be having an enjoyable time as well.

What else is there to say except it remains up there with the best. The steaks are cooked to perfection. The sides are plentiful and the wait staff is excellent. Depending where you are seated, it can get a bit loud, especially when it is crowded. Still my favorite steak restaurant

This was my first time at McKendrick's and all I say is WOW!! The service was excellent the food was excellent. I was looking for a steakhouse for my boyfriend's 39th birthday and I wanted to find a place where I didn't have to pay for parking, or get a ticket validated. The parking was Free plenty of spaces so I didn't have to fight for a parking spot. I reserved a table for 2 on open table. As soon as we walked in we were seated. My boyfriend ordered the Ribeye with the house salad. I ordered the Scottish Salmon with a Cesar salad and we shared the Lobster Mac and Cheese. The steak was really tender and my boyfriend loved it. The salmon was cooked to perfection. The item that stole the show was the lobster mac and cheese. Its not on the menu and it's a bit pricey. But it was worth it. The lobster mac and cheese was delicious. The only thing we would not order again would be the salads. The lettuce was a little wither and we were so stuffed with everything else that there was no need for a salad. Overall this is a excellent resturant with great Service, and awesome food.

The Steak And Potatoes Are Very Good Service Is Very Good But This Place Is Not Cheap Its In A Nice Shopping Center With Lots Of Free Parking.

We made a reservation at McKendrick's for a special occasion when we were visiting relatives in Atlanta. We had a fabulous meal! The food was wonderful; I have never had a better steak! The service was excellent as well. I like that the restaurant is perfectly fine with splitting entrees or desserts; they plate everything separately for no additional charge. We will be back on other visits to Atlanta.

Took my wife to celebrate her birthday. I had a small fillet and she had the salmon. The steak was undoubtedly one of the best I have ever eaten. I requested medium and was served the perfect steak, charred on the outside, pink on the inside. Outstanding . My wife's salmon was also perfectly cooked and it came with crisp green beans and huge grilled mushrooms. The final touch was that the waitress had overheard me talking about my wife's birthday and brought us this huge slice of cheese cake and strawberries with a little candle. Delicious. Also liked that the glass of wine that I ordered was a very generous pour not like the usual overpriced skimpy glasses served at many other restaurants. Server was very attentive and friendly. All in all the perfect celebration.

I visited McKendrick's with a number of colleagues. I had the frend onion soup followed by a ribeye steak. It was exceptional. Really really good.

Our Mother's day visit was a bit "off" because of some service issues, but the meals were excellent - as usual. I do truly wish that this otherwise wonderful place would invest in some sound-dampening. I Read the recent article about the noise level in restaurants, but I would expect that a great place like this, that aspires to a fine dining experience, would not fall into the noise trap?

After a long day of work, our associates took us to McKendrick's to show us what they thought was the best steak in Atlanta. There were 12 of us and the servers did a great job of getting us served at the same time. Everyone in the party was pleased with their food. My filet was very tender and was cooked exactly as ordered. The prices were more than you would expect for every day, but great for special occasions. Overall a great experience.

Had a 3:00 PM reservation and arrived a little early. No problem, we were seated immediately at one of those very small side booths. We managed. Food and service were excellent tho a tad over priced. Noise level was off the Richter Scale - could not talk to each other short of yelling. Sort of ruined the whole meal for us - left knowing will probably will not return.

The tilefish was amazing, the okra was a hit and so was the wine. You will not be disappointed with this place. The atmosphere is somewhat old dinner club and service was great!

We chose McKendrick's for a family dinner on a holiday weekend. We had a reservation although the restaurant was not extremely busy. While the restaurant is located in a congested area near Perimeter Mall, plenty of convenient parking was available. We were seated and given time to review the extensive menu which is ala carte. Our server was attentive taking orders and making sure that our steaks were just right. We ordered a number of sides to share family style. The meal was pleasant and unhurried. We were able to have good table conversation. The dinner was very enjoyable. We will go back..

This was a good steak house overall. The ambience was very good. The service was excellent. The cocktails were generous. Everything is a la carte and a little pricier than the flavor would allow. The oysters Rockefeller were unremarkable as was the escargot. The baby spinach salad was generous, but the warm bacon dressing was slightly overpowering. The side dishes which large enough for sharing were also unremarkable (large sauteed mushrooms and butternut squash). The filet Mignon was perfectly prepared and was absolutely a choice grade of beef. It was slightly charred and had a warm pink center for medium as should be expected. The Bearnaise sauce was also slightly unremarkable. Overall, you can find a steak house meal just as good for about half the cost.

We went for a business birthday lunch and I am so glad we did. The food was excellent and cooked perfectly. We all had a fish and we were all delighted with our choices. The service was excellent and very friendly. I would highly recommend this place.

I hosted my company dinner at this restaurant last night and everyone left impressed. I have never left disappointed whenever I have visited here. Seafood Tower from the app menu was so delicious we ordered it twice.

Okay, you are in Atlanta. It is Friday or Saturday night and you want a GREAT steak served with wonderful sides- Bones or Hal's both first choices. But McKendricks is right there with them! I would highly recommend. The bread is made in house. The steaks are perfectly cooked. The sides are delicious. We had cheesecake for desert- again made in house- and very very good. Our server was tremendous and helpful. This was our first visit- we will return.

Had a wonderful dinner with friends here. Had the steak special which had crab meat on top. Steak served perfectly cooked. Cesar salad good, best creamed corn I've ever had. Definitely expensive but worth the cost.

I was recently at McKendrick's and reminded how great this restaurant really is...I had an amazing steak dinner last summer with a group of clients. During this visit we had drinks and shrimp at the bar. The shrimp cocktail was awesome and portion was generous. Drinks were perfect and we even enjoyed a grat bottleneck two of the wine.

Steaks are the best selection here, though there are ample seafood offerings. Also the jumbo lump crab cocktail is excellent. Waiters are experienced and old-style steakhouse demeanor. Spacing of tables for COVID-19 is a little closer than most restaurants are using. This is important to know before you are seated Proximity to the bar can be problematic because of loud bar patrons. Ask for a table away from the bar and from the stream of newly arriving guests since they would all otherwise stream by you the entire evening....about 40% of which are not wearing masks when walking around.

Beautiful restaurant that is tastefully done with a nice atmosphere. Seated right away at the time of our reservation. Our server might have been one of the worst EVER in any price range restaurant. His first words as we approached the table was "can I get you something to drink", no welcome introduction etc. Might have been one of the laziest people I have ever seen. This while the server assistant was working himself to death with the 5 plus tables this server had. The food was below average as well, two tries to get the steak cooked correct and a 6 oz piece of sea bass that was dry and tasteless. Over the food was warm at best. I could go on, we spent $250 for two and would have been much better off at Capital Grill (which we will return) The manager was visible but really didn't know what was going one. This was a treat for us that turned in to a waste of money and our evening!

Enjoyed the attentive service. They helped us celebrate our new grad. The prime rib was tender and easily cut with a fork. It was a huge portion which they gladly split for us. I also had a rich, creamy corn and crab bisque with some warm rye bread. Very kind and accommodating waiter. Manager also checked on us several times. Kid's menu too.

A business lunch took me to McKendrick's for the first time. This is an upscale restaurant with excellent service. Many of the diners are regulars as evidenced by the staff referring to them by name. Typical steakhouse menu with multiple non-meat choices. Definitely on the expensive side but worth it for the quality of the food, the service and the attractive dining room. We ordered: Shrimp cocktail @ $16.95 Greek salad @ $11.95 (huge) Heirloom salad @ $15.95 8 oz filet @ $44 Sea bass @ $25.95 Grouper sandwich @ $19.95 All very good. Our server Amber was top notch. In summary, great choice if someone else is paying, very good choice if you're paying.

Dined alone in the bar this week and had the great fortune of sitting next to three lovely ladies who were local. The service was fantastic which my new friends who frequent often said was standard. Had the sea bass which while just slightly overdone, was still very good. Great people watching and a wonderful experience.

We began with cocktails and they were poured perfectly. That's not a given everywhere especially when you drink very special drink so kudos begin there. My steak was cooked just right and the Au Gratin potatoes were just yummy!! Treat yourself with a visit. The service was amazing too, we can't forget that part!

As soon as you arrive you know you are in for a special treat. White table cloths and properly set tables greet you. Waiters in coats and ties. Dimly lit, but not dark dining room. The food was fantastic. I had the 12 oz filet and it was the best steak I have had in years. They have an amazing wine list as well.

We went to celebrate our 32nd anniversary. The place was nice. Food and service was excellent! We would have enjoyed it alot more if it wasn't so loud. We walked in and thought we were in a bar as it was so loud. The host did apologize but said it was normal...

Came for lunch and they made a shrimp cocktail and a chopped steak seem like a gourmet meal. The service was perfect, the staff attentive to my every need and the food delicious.

Great restaurant for steak lovers. Prices somewhat high but reallg good food. Sides are super especially mushroom rissoto.Live music sets nice tone. Our server was outstanding - very knowledgeable and friendly.
It's ok
Restaurant was a bit too loud for my taste. Seems to be a place where business people come so the noise level is annoying. Not great place for date night with your loved one. Not easy to have conversation. Our waiter was good though, pleasant and attentive. The food was good. Good steak and seafood.
