Great restaurant for both brunch and dinner

By JackAguero |

In a quiet street near Grant park Mediterranea has an extensive entirely gluten free menu and a great wine list. The service is knowledgeable and there is service on the roof for those who want to eat outdoors. We have had both dinner and Sunday brunch and enjoyed both very much.

A Gem

By Jeannie2207 |

We were recommended this restaurant. It’s close to Atlanta Zoo in midtown. The atmosphere is very calm but it was probably only half full when we were there. The staff were friendly and the menu was very different from the normal American fare. Some delicious choices were possible. There are a lot of vegetarian choices and vegan if that’s what you want. The delicious ‘non cheese’ vegan cheesecake was delicious. Moderately priced. We’d definitely go back.

Excellent Mediterranean restaurant

By JPL623 |

This restaurant is located in the Grant Park neighborhood of Atlanta. Charming atmosphere . Good place for a nice dinner. The whole restaurant is gluten free which is great but does not mean that the food is not delicious for all tastes. We had grilled halibut, shrimp and polenta, feta baked in red sauce and salads. All good . Very nice atmosphere and we could hear each other talk. Full bar as well.

Excellent food, small portions

By enlajugada |

We had been meaning to try this place for a little while now. We are giving it 5 stars because the food was incredible, but the portion sizes were disappointing - - we actually had to stop somewhere on the way home to get something else to eat 'cause we were still hungry. We could not try anything from their regular menu because it was brunch so we are gonna give them another try and hope regular menu portions are better.

Great find in Grant Park area

Great deck to enjoy the neighborhood surroundings. Limited menu but both my artichokes stuffed with eggplant and feta and the Cobia fish special were fantastic. Tried the lamb meatballs as well. 👍

A new favorite

Everything was good, feta baked in tomato sauce, shrimp and grits and do not miss out on the vegan gf chocolate cake. Great service

Secret gem - gluten-free Italian in Grant Park neighborhood!

By puppypatrol |

Wonderful dining experience, especially for gluten-free diners. We have been here three times in the last month - we can't believe we hadn't discovered it sooner! Very quiet location in the Grant Park neighborhood, parking is easy, nice atmosphere, and the food is outstanding. Good wine list too. Enjoy!

Underwhelmed

By TreeloverAtlanta |

I had a delicious lunch here several months ago but was less pleased by a recent dinner. On the positive side, Four of shared the quartet of spreads, which was quite delicious. However, three of us ordered the cobia fish special ($29), and each of us commented that the fish tasted fishy and that we felt the serving size was stingy. When we mentioned the taste of the fish to our server, there was no response. The roasted potatoes and vegan cheesecake were also mediocre in taste and serving size. Given the menu prices, I'd not recommend Mediterranea for dinner, although lunch may still be a good bet.

Great addition to neighborhood

By Kate E |

Excellent Mediterranean inspired good. Delicious. On top of great food, they are also health conscious and take a variety of dietary needs into consideration and make them mainstream in the menu. You won’t have an issue enjoy food here being gluten or dairy free, vegetarian. Even if you don’t drink these kombucha to enjoy! So glad to have Mediterranea part of the Grant Park restaurant scene!

A neighborhood charmer

By ETT1959 |

We drove 20 minutes for the gluten-free menu--the entire menu is gluten-free and there are also vegan and vegetarian options. Because the menu is based on the Mediterranean diet, many items are naturally gluten-free, so if you can eat anything, you'll be very happy with all the dishes. The appetizers and desserts were standouts for us, the entrees delicious, too, as well as the drinks. Best of all was the lovely vibe of the place--small, intimate, nice music, full on a Saturday night but not loud. There is a small bar and bakery area, too, and the restaurant is in an old store-front in charming Grant Park. A diverse range of people were there, from families to dates to older couples. A huge shout-out to the friendly, attentive staff. When our drink order went missing (things happen), not only did they comp our drinks but three people came over on five separate occasions to sincerely apologize. A great place!

Delicious

This is a neighborhood gem. The grain bowl with chicken and avocado is out of this world. Service is spot on. Wednesday night the wine by the bottle is half price.

Gluten-Free citizens rejoice!

By Cgg2nd |

This restaurant is 100% gluten-free! Two visits in, I am in love with the food and service. Definitely save room for the Pots de Creme' for dessert. Lunch is delightful with many sandwiches made with in-house gluten free bread. The bread maker is skilled at gluten free as every bread I've tried is the right weight-not too heavy, and texture-not crumbly. Great neighborhood vibe too in Grant Park.

Great veggie options--delicious!

By adamjhu |

Mediterranea always has great service, and it is fantastic to go to a nice restaurant and have a range of vegetarian options to choose from. Delicious salads and other appetizers as well.

Highlight of my day!

By sara r |

Mediterranea was the highlight of my day! Delicious food, healthy, freshly prepared, and its all gluten free! I'm not celiac but I stay away from gluten as much as possible. My 10 year old daughter loved it as well! Thank you for the delish brunch!

Perfect lunch

A great place to grab lunch after the morning spent at the nearby zoo. The food was fresh, delicious and only topped by superior customer service. There are also plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians too.

Healthy X Healthy X Healthy

By Secondtimothy |

This place is healthy cubed. The food here is fresh and good. Besides everything being certified gluten free, they offer selections for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans. Presentation was good enough to see on Iron Chef. Some reviewers mention small portions, but I think it is the sign of a healthy restaurant not to super size everything. Service was very attentive. It was Friday night and the place was not crowded. (always a bad sign). Hope this place doesn't go out of business.

Delicious lunch

Food was amazing and delectable. Service was fast. Lovely ambiance. Reasonable price range for brunch. Close walk to zoo. Great neighborhood find!

Rooftop dining & delicious food

By Sarah B |

Sat on the rooftop patio on a hot September night with girlfriends and enjoyed delicious food and good service! I got the eggplant stack and lemoncello and it was amazing!

Superb!

By Kathleen R |

This is some of the best Mediterranean food I’ve ever had. The service was wonderful, the lamb plate is delicious, and even their chai latte was amazing! I can’t say enough good things about this place.

Delicious dine

By Abe W |

Food and ambient amazing, lasagna like used to be but gluten free. Mussaka well seasoned, delicious. We couldn't resist the chocolate mousse, so much for my diet LOL. Not expensive, less than 45 USD for both plus Carla`s tips. Will recommended in Atlanta. FlyFalcons!!

Excellent brunch, nice atmosphere, super friendly, amazingly gluten-free.

By Jean H |

We had a group here for Sunday brunch. My son and husband have celiac disease and were wowed by the fact that everything was gluten-free. I don't need gluten-free, but everything was delicious. Nice open, airy atmosphere, and in better weather they will ave rooftop seating. I had shakshuka, potatoes and an peril mimosa - outstanding. I wish we lived in Atlanta so we could go there regularly. They do take reservations.

Amazing food and gluten free!

By natandbern |

Everything was amazing and everything is gluten free! Yum yum yum! Excellent quality. Would definitely go back. Prices are also ok.

A great find!

This restaurant has everything! Delicious, creative food, excellent cocktails and wine list, and lovely atmosphere. It’s tucked away in a little neighborhood and has outdoor seating. We will be back!

Disappointed

By john e |

Appetizers were ok but short on bread. When asked for a little more we were brought much more and to my surprise charged for it. When inquiring about a zucchini dish or Eggplant stack or Moussaka, I was strongly suggested the special, Moroccan Meatloaf. Why on earth did I go for meat and potatoes? I did and regretted ordering the mediocre dish. MY BAD! It was flavorful, mashed potatoes were perfect. Meatloaf was ok but heavy, firm, dense. I didn't finish and that's a first. Im sure the other choices are better but I don't think I will find out.

EXCELLENT - Favorite spot in ATL

By efm16 |

This restaurant is seriously amazing. I picked up baked goods one day, then brought colleagues for dinner another night and everything was delicious across the board. Pastries were yummy, dinner options were tasty (the risotto was delicious) and the bread pudding dessert for dinner WAS TO DIE FOR. I can't wait to go back to Atlanta just to eat here. I need this place because it's all Gluten Free (all of it!!!!!) But the thing is....no one would know it's all GF without looking up the website. It's delicious and you can't tell it's GF! Also, the staff and owners/pastry chef are SO nice and easy to work with. I was trying to plan a catering event and it went awry on my end, but they were super helpful and great to work with. Thanks guys - I'll be back!!!!

This place is Excellent

By timatlga |

Located on a quiet street in an old Atlanta neighborhood surrounded by Victorian homes There is a good sized rooftop terrace up in the tree line. I’ve been here three times now and the food is always delicious, very fresh, and locally sourced. It is a gluten free restaurant but definitely not short on flavor. Mediterranean themed menu, hence the name Portions are not huge, but I’m always very satisfied Will keep going back.

Great Food at a Neighborhood Restaurant and Bakery

By somewhereingeorgia |

This is a nice neighborhood restaurant near Grant Park and Zoo Atlanta. Six of us went for brunch on a Saturday morning. The management was very easy to work with for a reservation and the rest of the staff made us feel right at home. I ordered the fennel and grapefruit salad followed by the gluten free biscuit with gravy and two eggs. I would absolutely order both dishes again. Each has that 'wow' factor that I look for on first taste. They have a full bar and a list of speciality drinks for brunch. There was plenty of nearby street parking. We will wait until the weather is cooler and return to try out the roof patio.

A gluten free restaurant! Just AWESOME!

By Suz C |

My daughter and I like to have lunch dates at NON-chain restaurants so we googled gluten-free restaurants and this place popped up. After reviewing the menu I was so excited to see this was a 100% gluten free restaurant. There was NOT a chance of cross-contamination. The lunch menu was limited but there were certainly enough choices. We decided to order 2 meals and split them so we could try more than one thing. She ordered the seared tuna bowl and I ordered the meatloaf sandwich. Her bowl had 5 small slices of seared tuna with a sauce drizzled over it, quinoa, some green sprouts, boiled eggs, tomatoes, avocado, and both black and green olives. The placement of every item within the bowl made the presentation awesome. My meatloaf sandwich came with a side salad that had a light vinaigrette over some leafy greens, radish slices, onions, and roasted pistachios. As for the sandwich, the gluten free bread was absolutely the best gluten free bread I have ever eaten! The meatloaf was made with turkey and had some type of sauce over it and some slaw. I was impressed that the bread did not crumble and break apart when I bit into it. This sandwich was fabulous! Our waitress recommended a dessert, lemon raspberry cake, to try. We decided to try it but we were disappointed in that. The cake was nearly frozen so when we put our forks into the piece the cake crumbled. Since the cake was so cold it masked the flavors of the cake. I actually suggested to them that they remove the cake from the area it was in so that it would be more palatable for other patrons. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this location to anyone visiting Atlanta. We actually drove 40 minutes to visit and we will certainly return. The price on the meals were $14-$15 each and the cake was $5. A little expensive for lunch for 2 people. With the tip it was $45 for lunch.

A new discorvery in Atlanta

By Scotscouple99 |

Our hosts in Atlanta wanted to try this new restaurant that had just opened in their neighbourhood. We did not know what to expect from a new restaurant that seemed to specialise in gluten free food, and neither did they. This turned out to be a major advantage, as we were completely taken by surprise by the quality of what was on offer and the atmosphere. None of us is vegetarian, although one of our friends is gluten intolerant, but this seemed to be irrelevant; there was something for everyone and both vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes sounded equally appetising. , We started by sharing the vegetarian spreads and I then moved to the stuffed meatballs as a starter; the latter were moist and reminded me of high quality meatballs one has in very good restaurants in Italy. My partner had the Kale Caesar that looked and tasted very appetising, and the jalapeno peppers gave it an extra kick. Two of us had the branzino which was served with orzo pasta, whereas the third had the herb crusted pasta. They had to explain to me what branzino is (in Europe I think we would call it sea bass) and I was not disappointed by the choice as the fish was cooked to perfection and the past had an authentic Mediterranean taste. I did not taste the chicken, but judging by the fact that my partner wanted to monopolise the dish for himself, I presume that it was equally wonderful. The gluten free focus was an added advantage as our friend did not have to worry and we were able to share the appetiser There is a great selection of wines and I liked a lot the fact that there was a good choice of wines by the glass, which allowed all of us to be adventurous as each of us tried different wines for the starter and mains. the atmosphere was very friendly and informal, and we met one of the owners who was very charming. He told us that they had moved from NY not so long ago and he seemed to know his stuff very well; we got the impression that a lot of thought had gone into both the sourcing of the ingredients and the cooking, which was very much appreciated. In fact it was him that provided the explanation for the branzino and I am glad he did... This restaurant is destined to be a success! It will be an easy choice for us the next time we visit Atlanta and we would both be interested to see how it has grown and developed.

Extraordinary Good Brunch

By LuckySpivey |

We had the lemon scone - which was more like glazed lemon cake, scrambled eggs, and both were very good. Now let’s talk about the truly delicious cheddar and chive biscuit served with homemade peach ginger preserves and the cheddar polenta grits, both of which were outstanding. The staff was friendly and attentive. The rooftop seating was fun.

Dinner with family

By 773jruth |

5 of us had dinner at Mediterranea, 3 adults 2 children. The waitress was attentive and pleasant. The children ordered from the children's menu but 1 child received their meal 10 minutes before the other. The adult meals were ok but their presentation was not great. The eggplant stack was not what we expected. It was different than it had been on a past visit. The chicken was tough and the steak while cooked as requested was buried under a huge amount of sauce. On the bright side the Bananna pudding was delicious. Not sure we will hurry back or reurn at all.

100% A+ Expectations Exceeded (Celiac Friendly)

By GoTarryn |

My wife has celiac disease (gluten-restricted), and we were pleasantly referred to this restaurant by a work client. The food was absolutely awesome! The service was wonderful and beautiful atmosphere... Reflection of first-class ownership and top-notch management. Definitely returning soon and will be referring too! Keep up the great work!

Delicious

Went there to celebrate a college graduation, so we splurged with pre dinner drinks and appetizers, a bottle of wine and entrees, and deserts, but we will definitely go back even when it’s not a special occasion. Food was delicious!

Cute Community Feel

By Visions Of a Traveler |

1. Cute entrance on corner intersection of Ormond and Grant streets. 2. Acknowledged almost immediately upon entrance (important to me, but not to everyone). 3. Straight forward 2-sided menu. 4. I arrived about 10:40am on a Sunday and was seated quickly in a 2-person table at the front windows. 5. Parking is street parking only (no lot). Relatively easy but be considerate of homeowners driveways because its a mostly residential block in this area. 6. Alcoholic beverages served here (but after 11 am for Sunday brunch).

Gluten-Free Goodness

By Jenelle634 |

Tried this Grank Park gem for dinner yesterday and loved it. Even though I am not a gluten-free diner, everything I tried was delicious and tasted so fresh. My taste buds enjoyed the amazing flavors and my stomach left happily full! Eager to get back and try their brunch menu soon!

New restaurant in the Grant Park area worth a visit

By jimcash |

My wife and I enjoyed dinner at this restaurant that I a block away from fan we were visiting for the weekend. There is a strong vegan influence to their menu but also chicken and seafood selections. The decor is very inviting and service was attentive. We started vegetable spreads and bread, kale Cesear salad and bean salad. All were very tasty. Main courses included the chicken, shrimp and grits, and a dish of squash and eggplant wrapped around cheese over red and yellow purée. I had the last dish and it was delight. One additional entree we tried was eggplant stuffed wth quinoa and rice. It was served at room temperature and may have been what the chef intended but was not appreciated by our group. There is a good wine list and a great bar. This is a great addition to the neighborhood and worthy of a visit soon.

Outstanding, memorable food

By Leah N |

We had a wonderful meal at this Atlanta neighborhood restaurant. The vegetarian offerings were delicious, especially the stuffed artichokes and the layered eggplant. The atmosphere was comfortable and not too noisy. The server was attentive and gave good suggestions. Try the invisible margarita -- tangy and delicious!
