I want to drink a bit of soup, a bit of cloudy, a small bowl of 15 yuan, after seeing the soup is not enough, I added a bit of clean soup, and I added 5 yuan, the soup has nothing to prejudice, the service is still possible, so added another 5 yuan service fee, huh I have this bowl of cloudy soup to drink me twenty-five yuan, the first time and the last time gone!

I made a to-go order during lunch and it's funny that they JUST changed the menu prices right when I ordered my food. I see the menus sitting right in front on the counter and they refused to honor their prices. Uhm, if you changed the menu today why are they not thrown out yet? They should have been tossed THIS MORNING! They clearly do not care about customer service. The hostess tried to talk about how sales tax is already incorporated in the menu price. I'm sorry but since when does $9 + $9 = $19.40?? Hilarious. Not only did that already upset me, when I check my food I notice that they gave me a box of rice that isn't even half full for TWO dishes. It's hardly enough rice to even feed ONE person. I will definitely NOT be coming back ever again. I'd advise you to do the same. There are MUCH better restaurant around the area. TLDR: Stingy on rice and HORRIBLE customer service. Go to a better restaurant.

Large, smart, casual chinese with big crowds. Fast/friendly service with great food. A bit loud for conversation but others great for families. Very affordable.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. I visited this restaurant with a female friend of mine last night. We ordered 3 dishes to share and one of the dishes had pork products in it, which I do not eat due to religious restrictions. We asked our waiter to change of the dish. We noticed we were being charged for the dish that we did not eat when it was time to pay. Manager came and told us that he will remove the dish after I object to the charge on the bill. Manager that went to remove the dish came back telling us that the OWNER of the restaurant does not want to remove the dish, I asked to talk to him… OWNER came back with this bad temper screaming at us that I have to pay for the dish that we did not eat. I simply told him that you can either remove the dish or I will dispute the charge with my bank (note that they already charged on my card at this point) OWNER brutally grabbed the receipt that was waiting on the table to be signed and turned to the manager commanding he is not leaving until he pays it with cash (I FELT NOT SAFE AT THIS POINT BECAUSE THERE WERE 3-4 PEOPLE STANDING BY OUR TABLE), he threatened us calling 911 which we were happy about because they were extremely rude and aggressive towards us which left my female friend shaking. I ended up signing the receipt and we were escorted by someone who was asked to take picture of our license plates. Owners' behavior was extreme and unnecessary towards a royal customer who did not want pay for a $15 dish that we did not touch because of my religious belief. I will be disputing the charge and share my experience on every available platform.

We loved the food. Everything we are was excellent. Really loved roasted chicken, very juicy and tasty. Also squid and fried rice. Highly recommended. The only downside is the noise. Otherwise you feel like you are eating an excellent traditional Chinese food in SoHo.

Delicious, authentic food. Staff is very attentive. Manager Victor is always welcoming & paying attention to all the guests. Highly recommend!!!

Some of the best Chinese food I have EVER had. Their country main fried rice was delicious along with the eggroll and soup. The horfun noodles were also cooked to perfection. General TSAOS and PEPPER STEAK were among our favorite dishes in all of Houston. It was well worth the $40 uber rides to Chinatown for this underrated hole in the wall. It also had some nice tea and coffee shops close by as well as Asian supermarket

This restaurant provides a modern take on Chinese food without overtaking the classic feel! Their squid ink rice and pork bbq are only some of the best. Don't forget to try out their lava toast!!

I went here yesterday with family and friend We were not disappointed. We started with chicken satay, shrimp roll, charsiu and sichuan garlic pork. We liked them all but the pork dishes stood out.We had to have char away too and it did not disappoint. Wide flat rice noodles mixed with squid and chinese sausage to name a few. The golden prawns were good but some may be put off as they are fried with head on - very tasty. The gu lo yuk was also very nice ( pork cheeks). Still to try are the pad thai and singapore noodles. Plus we want to try the phnom penh noodles after meeting Mr. Tran the owner originally from Cambodia. He convinced us to go try his Tiger Den and are awaiting his new Korean barbecue. The char kway teow at 9..50 was enough for 3 people and the apps are all around 4 to 6.50$. This place is in a little shopping center on Clarewood down behind Strake Jesuit and St Agnes, yet when you walk in it his very spacious and nicely decorated. Mr. Tran was a very nice and spent at least 5 minutes talking to us at the end of the meal.

Went for quick business lunch at recommendation of a colleague. Owner even came out to visit w/ us. Food was excellent! Szechwan dumplings the best I have had. Rich man's fried rice (full of crab meat & a little heat) was great twist on fried rice. Fried whole tilapia done just right (not dried out on inside) w/ a nice non-spice peanut?? sauce. Honey pork (I forget exact dish name) w/ mustard for dipping was very flavorful. Prices more than reasonable (all platters $10 range). For sure I will go back.

wow, i love it when i am so blown away with food, atmosphere, wait staff, this place has it all with a cool hip casual vibe. felt so friendly and welcoming and the presentation and taste of the food was amazing, can't wait to return. we were looking for a new experience yesterday around 1:30 and found mein online, truly a blessing.

We had a party of 6 adults on a Saturday. They don't take reservations, but we were able to get a table right away at 6:30 pm. The restsurant quickly filled up though, and so there was a wait. There were all kinds of people inside. Big families, groups of friends, and couples. It's not too roomy inside, but I have heard they will be expanding to the space next door. The food is reasonably priced. A friend at our table really liked the squid ink fried rice. For me, it was on the salty side. I enjoyed the fried shrimp and won ton noodle soup. The veggie dishes were good. I will go back, but I hope the service gets better. We had to ask for tea and water refills many times. From when the first dish came out to the last, it was a good 45 minutes. Good thing we weren't in a hurry, but the food needs to come out together, especially when you are trying to share and eat family style. We brought in two bottles of wine. I have been to other restaurants before where they let you bring in your own alcohol. I've never been charged for bringing my own wine or beer. At Mein, they charged $8.00 per wine bottle. I guess it's a service fee, but we really didn't get any service. We opened the bottles ourselves and poured ourselves. Oh well. Hope they rethink that policy too. How would they have charged us if we had brought beer bottles!?

The food was very good. The menu is pretty extensive. Really liked the fried wontons, the king-do spare ribs, and red oil dumplings. The service was very good...friendly, efficient, and accurate. The prices are very reasonable making for a great value! The air-conditioning was pretty strong, so you might want to bring a jacket if you are prone to feeling cold.

I went for the first time with a party of four and got to taste seven dishes, all of which were very good. My favorites were the squid ink fried rice and the garlic eggplant. This Chinatown restaurant made me feel like I was in the Heights or Montrose - very nice feel that is not common for this area.

Brought a couple of coworkers to this favorite hole-in-the-wall spot of mine for lunch. Hole-in-a-wall is a stretch since this is a famed chef Mike Tran's (of Tiger Den and Aka Sushi) concept restaurant. Lunches are usually less crowded at Mein so it was a perfect outing for great foods at very affordable prices. I exposed my coworkers to a samplings of must haves: Appetizers: Crispy Duck, King To Spareribs, Fried Chicken (Half), chinese broccoli . Entree: Salt/pepper tofu; Peking Sapreribs; House Fried Rice; Mein Tofu Dessert: lava toast!! All were so excellent that coworkers wanted to make this a regular lunch venue. Again, prices are very reasonable. Never leave hungry.

The French toast with the salted egg yoke was good, Cambodian pho was alright, the Singaporean noodles could have used more seasoning, the squid ink fried rice was really good creamy & buttery. I ordered soup dumplings but it never made it out to us because the waiter misunderstood and thought I canceled it. They catered us even we brought our own birthday cake and they stayed a little later to ensure we had a good time so over all I give this place 4 stars.

The decor of Mein Restaurant is quite unique, contemporary yet infused with old fashion ideas. Apparently, it is the trendy "it" thing gearing to the younger generation. In serves Cantonese food plus some popular Southeastern Asia dishes. As for food quality, just mediocre. For example, wonton soup was good but the noodle was the wrong kind. Beef satay was chewy and came with a bland red bean sauce instead of the tastier peanut sauce used at other restaurants. Fired noodle itself was OK but with only a few pieces of meat and veges, and scanty sauce on top. Overall, the portions were small and quite pricy. Surprisingly, most servers were non-Chinese, speaking only English. Service was friendly an efficient though kind of rushy when the place began to pack. Another strange thing, the manager did not smile! Seemed he was more interested in keeping an eye on the servers than "happily" dealing with the customers.

Excelent;Chinese restaurant with generous servings. We took someone from China and she loved it, too. XO fried rice was particularly good. Located on the next street North of Bellaire Blvd. just inside Beltway 8.

This Mike Tran Cantonese, off the beaten path, Chinatown Restaurant is a perfect option when visiting or dining out in Houston’s vibrant Chinese community. His menu is well thought out and the quality of his food draws foodies from all nationalities and ethnicities. It exciting to see the younger generation taking their food and culture to the next level. Exciting times to be dining in Houston’s Chinatown.

It's a must stop for us, when we are in Houston. Driving through Houston yesterday from it is right off the highway. Lots of parking, in spite of the busy Friday evening crowd, we waited only 15 minutes. The server was very pleasant, helpful and efficient. The food was amazing.

Okay people, I have to call this out. The food may be a bit on the pricey side, but at least its good. So no qualms there. Was there with the family, and got a pot of tea which was $2.50 (per pot)… until we got the bill, and they charged us $2.50 per cup. Seriously, insane. So discussed with the waiter, and he said the menu had a typo and it is $2.50 per cup. I did agree that there was a typo, but it was on my bill, not the menu – the menu clearly said $2.50 per tea pot. Well, I’m sorry people, now you stepped over the line. He asked if we wanted to speak to the manager and you bet, bring it on! After much deliberation at the counter, they decided to so the smart thing and correct my bill. Well, regardless, this place is dead to me!

We tried this place based on a friend's recommendation and it was great! The food is extremely well done and was delicious. We had the charsu, xo fried rice, and egg tofu. The tofu was very unique and was the favorite in our group. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is nice. Highly recommend!

Visiting Houston and stopped in for dinner. The service was amazingly attentive and the curry chicken was awesome. I thought the price was very reasonable and recommend the Mein Restaurant as a great place to eat.

We tried several dishes, and the only ones that stood out was the black ink squid rice, and the fried fish. The service was less than adequate, we didn't care much for the way they charged for the tea (by cup, go figure!). It would have been easier to eat with dinner plate, and fork, instead of small plate and chop sticks.

We went with a group of six and our reserved table was waiting for us. We ordered quite a number of dishes but the best was the curry duck noodle soup which we slurped right up. Just spicy enough and the ingredients were all very fresh and the noodles cooked perfectly. Small plates that we like were the Satay Beef and the shrimp rolls. The garlic bok choy was very good. Save room for the lava toast dessert. It is like french toast but also has about 1/4 stick of butter, salted egg custard and maple syrup. We got two orders and split each one three ways and it was just enough. It is extremely rich and delicious, a specialty of the house. Service was fast, friendly and efficient.

This place was good. Service was quick for whatever we needed. We all shared dishes! They do not take reservations on weekends, so get there early!

We went for dinner on a Saturday night and really enjoyed it. There was a small wait but we expected it so no big deal, it's easier to get seated if you have 2 people. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We ordered the flat noodle with shrimp and vegetables, the jalapeño shrimp (great spice), and the brussel sprouts. All had good unique flavor although I could have used more spice on the brussel sprouts. For dessert we enjoyed the lava toast, this is a must have!!! It seemed to have a custard filling with a slight peanut butter taste, save room for this treat. We will definitely be back.

My first trip to Mein. Friends asked me to join them for dinner. They did all the ordering from appetizers to entrees. Superb dumplings, beef entrees, chicken, shrimp, veggies and noodle dishes. Quite busy location just slightly off the main drag in Chinatown. A definite A+ and will return.

Found a fairly wide selection of dishes representing both northern and southern China. Salt fish pork also had a salt egg on it. Ma Po tofu was the spicy version. King do ribs were good but not real ribs. Silk eggs basically scrambled eggs with shrimp. White chop chicken also authentic. Service felt a little rushed, so we didn’t. Stay for dessert.

The menu selection and pricing was okay but when you receive the receipt to pay. Things changes immediately. If you sit in a group more than four. The bill is divided into four, a top is automatically added to the bill at their rate of percentage and then you are asked to give a tip additional to the tip that was applied prior to the bill. Basically you are being robbed at the restaurant by the management and employees. The $13 meal cost $23 at the end. I would not recommend any Asian restaurant like this one to anyone. They are all about robbing the customer. The food was average at best. The presentation needs work and the service needs some improvements

We absolutely love this place. The food here is just as good as the food I had in China Town when I lived I San Francisco. We loved the fried wontons and the har fun dishes were really good. I was disappointed with the shrimp rolls. Ours were over cooked. I also had the walnut prawns which were good, but needed just a little bit more sauce. The service can be hit or miss depending on how busy the place is. For dinner, get there a little early or be prepared to wait in line.

I was told they have the best Wonton Noodle soup in town. It turned out to be true. It is a very busy joint. The waiters and waitress are not very experience, they are young and not as attentive and effective as I expect in a nice restaurant. We ordered several dishes and they were delicious . Roast duck and Sugar Puff are not longer served, and they should remove them from the menu.

A friend found a listing and review on Mein. Decided to go for lunch. Nice place and not too hard to get to in New China Town. Met our waiter Donish. Very pleasant and extremely helpful with suggestions and excellent service. Luckily I read many reviews and had an idea what I wanted. The dumplings and red oil wonton were fantastic. The manager Jack was super to talk to and very helpful. We also ordered the pork ribs, green beans, Shakin beef and Wonton soup. All were excellent! Topped it off with the lava toast! Excellent choice to finish the meal! If it’s your first time it pays to look at the reviews. The menu is very large and remember this is not like the usual American Chinese fair, it’s BETTER! Grin Boil it all down, would I go back, you bet. If I can talk the wife into it, I’ll be back tomorrow!

Cozy restaurant. Waiter was in point and food was great i had the twin phenom soup noodle tasted great and no msg in my soup and it had 2 different kind of noodles egg and rice noodles. Also had the mapo tofu, fried squid, and some kind of eggs with shrimp. Everything was great and prices was cheap will definitely come back.

it was our first visit to that place. The manager, Victor, personally advised us what it's good to order for the first timers. We started with Smashed Cucumber and Crispy Duck, as appetizers. Smashed Cucumber was not actually smashed, but rather was cut on small pieces with added garlic, spices and peanuts. We had similar dish in other Chinese restaurants in the area, the difference here that it was spicier and had generous portion of crushed peanuts on top, sort of combination of Chinese and Vietnamese style. It was very good, especially for the lovers of spicy food like us. Just need to be careful with the dressing, it left spots on my shirt that was hard to remove. Crispy duck was actually a small portion of Peking Duck that was served with all the attributes: thin crepes, precut vegetables, mustard and hoisin sauce. It was also very good, and we were already full with our appetizers before the main entries arrived. For the main entries we followed Victor's recommendations and ordered Shaking Chicken and Beef Scallion. The meats of both dishes were tender and rich of flavor. It's hard to tell which of these we liked better because both were excellent. It's also worth to mention that both portions were of generous sizes, so come very hungry. For drinks we both ordered the coconut water that was served in nice, esthetically looking cans, with pieces of coconut in the bottom. It was very tasty and helped us to flush down the large amounts of food that we had. We are very happy to discover this place and we'll definitely visit it again.

Yes, I read all the reviews about the service, but we experienced exceptional service both from the waitress and support staff that came to ask several times if we were enjoying our meal! Started with Spicy Garlic Eggplant (exceptional), Crispy Duck, House Wonton Noodle Soup and Lava Toast for dessert. The Lava Toast is French Toast magnified with salted egg custard filling and maple syrup ladle over it (not to be missed!). The restaurant is located one block North of Bellaire on Clarewood in Chinatown area.

This is my fourth time savoring the fried beef flat noodle. Taste of the fried noodle is delicious with slices of tender beef so nicely stir-fried. Would also recommend another similar flavorful flat noodle stir-fried with shrimps and squid, being named 'char kuey teow'. Love their shrimp rolls with dipping mustard sauce, a kick of wasabi mix to mustard sauce. Nice!

Tried for first time , foe dinner and felt the foods were excellent Enjoyed the crispy duck , a fried tofu dish and the crispy fried shrimp. All were excellent, presentation was very inviting and and my waitress was very prompt with my serving and very attentive. Thumbs up , located off Bellaire In China town area.

After seeing several good reviews decided tom eat there but was disappointed, Extremely limited veggie choices and not very tasty.

Business lunch today at Mein and it's a definite winner! The decor is very tastefully done - likely by a designer. Food was amazing. Shanking Chicken is the Cantonese term for Jalapeño Chicken. It was so tender, tastefully spiced, and the slices of jalapeño were perfect bit of heat. We also shared Red Chili Dumplings which are a don't miss. Can't wait to return!

Stopped in what from the outside is a very unassuming place for lunch. When I stepped inside I was quite surprised at the decor of the interior. I hesitate to call it upscale but it is certainly better than many places in the area. The place was full at noon. I had the beef flat rice noodles for lunch and the quality was excellent. Good portion size and fresh taste. The beef was cooked very well and had a great flavor. I'm looking forward to the next opportunity to try something new at Mein. Being new to the Bellaire area I have been trying quite a few of the restaurants in the area and Mein is at the top of the list for now.

This is a cool looking restaurant you expect in midtown or Galleria area but not Chinatown. Food was excellent for the price! Main entrees usually are about $7 - $9. We ordered some clams, salt toasted shrimps, chicken clay pot, green beans, & egg Tofus all for under $50.

The restaurant design was quite refreshing compare to the standard Chinese restaurant in Houston Chinatown. The food was excellent with a high attention to detail and to quality. The only issue was fruit flies during the meal. That was quite irritating during the meal. Overall, it was great place to dine and definitely worth coming back

This restaurant is not a main street. Chinatown in Houston has moved from downtown (in the back of the convention center) to Bellair Blvd. starting at Gessner all the way to Hwy 6. This is a major expansion of Houston's chinatown. It continues to expand from Bellaire Blvd to the back streets and Mein Restaurant represents one of these expansion. Nevertheless, Mein Restaurant is still very accessible once you get to visit it. Apparently, the owners are Cantonese but their fare includes Singaporean and Malay cuisine. This was our first visit and we had Cha Siu and Wonton noodle. It is served dry with wonton soup on the side. I had Char Kway Teow (who knows how these ought to be spelled, really!) with Fish Maw soup and steamed pork dumpling. We were surprised to have finished most of it. One thing that helps you tell that it is a good restaurant - it is full of customers. We went at lunch time and it was full.

Mein Restaurant is a Cantonese style Chinese restaurant. It is quietly tugged away on a less busy street just north of Bellaire Blvd in Chinatown. Good size parking lot in the shopping center, which is a huge plus these days for Chinatown. The restaurant is very nicely decorated with retro looks and maintained very clean inside and out. Servers are very nice and attentive. The menu has a good selection of dishes that taste homemade and true to the tradition. The presentation, however, is very modern and can be very attractive to non-Chinese guests. We tried several dishes and they are all very good. Our favorites are: house wonton noodle, beef flat noodle, fried shrimp rolls, and jalapeño prawns.

Loved the interiors of this place very inspiring design. The Cantonese food hear is delicious but more importantly very authentic. Loved the Crispy duck here that was a highlight. Great service from all the staff here. Well priced all made for a really satisfied experience.

We used to come here very often, but since a former service manager, victor, left, service people are less friendly as before. It’s time to find better one!

I am not easily impressed with restaurants as I "cooked out" regularly. My first dinner at Mein was on 8/25/2015, with friends and colleagues from out of town. From the moment we entered into the restaurant to the moment we left, we unanimously agree that Mein is worthy of being first-rated, superb, and drool-worthy. The interior design is warm, modern, artistic and sophisticated. Foods can be described as slightly modern twist of authentic everyday Asian dishes that are anything but "simple". We did not have a single bad dish and we ordered 7-12 dishes to share. Foods are more than just Cantonese. The many variety of dishes encouraged sharing, though you may not want to share the dessert. The prices are very reasonable. Parking is abundant. Easy to access. Service is great and staff is helpful and happy. I would take my foodie friends, family and professional colleagues to dine at Mein again and again. In summary, my experience is totally spectacular and would I would highly recommend Mein as one of the hottest new restaurant of Summer/Fall 2015.

Mein gets high marks for decor and service; both were excellent. The food was fresh and well prepared, and presentation was good. However, I felt the flavors were a little flat. One example was the special Sichuan fish, which was described as "a spicier version of the regular fish", but was not very spicy at all. I would assume that the kitchen would have spiced it up had we asked, but being promoted as a Sichuan dish I assumed it would come spicy already. Pricing was very reasonable. All things considered, I'll be back to try more.

This is not your "ordinary" chinese restaurant. Everything we had was simply delicious. How can you make cucumbers and green beans "unique and delicious"? Well, Mein's did. Appetizers were awesome as were the main courses.

My family went there and we had excellent service!!!! We were welcomed and seated as soon as we arrived. Two menus were placed on our table but was told we could download the menu. Our server quickly took our drink order then got our orders. After only a little while the appetizers were out and no long afterwards, our entrees were brought out. One of the kids even had a spill and the staff quickly picked up the spill We really enjoyed a great meal. Meals were reasonably priced.

My family and I went here one night. The garlic eggplant and the Chinese broccoli were my favorites. Service was friendly and timely. The place was surprisingly crowded on a Wednesday rainy night. I just wish they don’t add MSG in their food.

After reading all the high ratings, I thought we were in for a real treat but I was sadly disappointed. Although the taste of the Sweet and Sour Pork was very good, the pork was grizzly and tough. My wife also commented that her Beef with Peppers tasted very good but the prime rib that they used was chewy and dry. I do have to admit that the restaurant was very busy, so apparently they were not eating what we were.

Recommended by my sister-in-law, we went here for the first time tonight. Unlike other Chinese restaurants in Houston (and there are so many), this restaurant has the fantastic ambience, chic décor, young/good looking staff, excellent service, amazing food... and all at a great price. Truly one of a kind. Jack, the head chef and owner, came out to say hello. His passion for food and his focus on quality came through in our conversation. The dishes we tried and highly recommend from our meal are spicy eggplant, silky egg prawns, and the yeung chow fried rice. Make sure to leave room for the Lava Toast dessert. It's incredible! We will be back to try other dishes on the Chef's Specialties list.

On the plus side of things — nice space/Devore and attentive staff with a menu that is extensive. The red oil dumplings were bready and not at all spicy. The Charsiu — honey roasted pork was dry not a lot of flavor although the serving was ample. Wanton noodle soup did not have much flavor. Maybe I am used to a Szechuan style with more spices? Wine/sake menu was short — surprised that there were so few sake selections. I may try this again but would not order any of the three things I tried — all recommended by wait staff.

Mein is noodles in Chinese. This restaurant offers great noodle dishes and much more. Lots of appetizers and main dishes make it hard to choose. Try the charsiu pork with spicy mustard for a flavor-filled treat. It is hard not to over-eat which is recommended so that you can have room for the Lava toast dessert. .

I LOVE Chinese food! I can tell you that Mein's is some of the best I've ever had anywhere, and I've eaten it all over the world.

This is a cool spot for good food, trendy chic atmosphere, and good service. The service was friendly and fast, we enjoyed most of what we ordered. One of the appetizers was just so so, but overall, the experience was a good one, and the management seems to really take interest in making sure you enjoy your visit. We will certain come back.

Fun place with pretty good food. Fun atmosphere and can get fairly noisy. Food comes out quickly. Highly recommended.

Food was great, service was great. This is a very interesting family style restaurant. The options are endless and the flavors are amazing. We enjoyed dinner here on an early Friday evening with friends who have been here several times. We will surely be back, it is a great experience to visit 1 restaurant but enjoy several dishes.

Ambient and decor is tasteful and so is the food. The variety of Asian food is impressive and very orginal and tasty. You do not have to travel to SE Asia as all the food are as authentic or even better than those there. We have been here on many occasions and each time, we leave with great satisfaction. The owner, Jack is very friendly and checks out feedback from customers. Servers are very polite and service minded unlike many of all the others in Bellaire. The ambient resembles some high end restaurants in Westheimer & Kirby without the price tag. Highly recommended and long wait if without reservations on weekends. My rating - best Asian food and ambient in town.

Fantastic food, great service. Our waiter, Po, patiently guided us through the menu and even recommended a good beer to go with the excellent meal. We can't wait to dine at Mein, again.

Great restaurant and something I didn’t expect to find in Houston authentic Cantonese food! The menu is packed with so many choices, and they also have very good special dishes based on the day. Everything I’ve had here is so good. The decor and murals are cool, following an old school retro feel and much character to a restaurant with tremendous food and service.

The pork soup dumpling appetizer was the best I've had including Ding Tai Fung, Mein had more flavor than those others. The Charsiu BBQ pork was super-moist and good. Shaking Chicken was pretty good. The hor funs (wide fried rice noodles) were fabulous, as good as in Singapore -- we like the "dry beef" or seafood char kuey teow. Last but not least, the Char Kuey Kak (known as carrot cake in Singapore) was outstanding. BTW, for the last post complained about pork in the dishes, if you don't ask, then the restaurant doesn't have to give a free dish. If you ask and the restaurant makes a mistake, then they are responsible. His post wasn't clear on that point.

Allison Cooke recently had a favorable review for Mein, so we have visited twice for lunch. In short, we love the food and decor, just wish it was a little quieter. The dishes are well presented, and for my taste not too salty, which is a good thing! The spicy cold pork small plate is our favorite so far, and the rice noodles with beef and black bean sauce is a great of food, enough for two lunch appetites! Try this place, but not on the days we want to get a table!
Very good food, value
The restaurant I prefer when I am in Chinatown. The food has consistently been very good and the service and pricing is great. Always a pleasurable experience. Recommend trying.
