Good value behind unpromising facade

By Jacob1993 |

Vietnamese restaurant with wide selection of dishes, reasonable prices and respectful quality service. Cook is flexible to modify order in a way you like vs. menue. I was looking for authentic dish, so have tried vietnamese pancake. Don't expect something similar to traditional breakfast pancakes like at IHOP or Denny's. It's good: filled with meat, hebrs, sprouts. You wrap it in leaf salad green. Food is fresh, cooked creatively well.

Fresh to death!

By JUMadison |

The restaurant was clean, the atmosphere splendid, and the wait staff was incredibly helpful and interactive. I found the Mee Kong Burger to have a nice mix of incredibly fresh and crisp vegetables, delicious sauces, tasty meat, and bread done to perfection - crispy and golden on the outside and warm and doughy on the inside. The fries were likewise delicious, and I ate until discomfort.

Food and service good for family dining

By Saul S |

The menu is very long, perhaps too long, but there are plenty of choices. The staff is friendly but not very personable or communicative with the customers. Perhaps this is the Vietnamese style of service, or a "language barrier" problem, since most Americans expect more talkative and outgoing waiters even in an Oriental restaurant. We have visited several times, so we must like it, but if you are looking for a fancy restaurant for a special occasion, this may let you down a bit.

Mekong in Seattle

By Ismail A |

I found this place while I was driving from Lynnwood to Seattle. I made a U turn to go back try. It was one of my best decision. They have authentic Vietnamese dishes. Their Pho is excellent. Their vegetarian dishes are yummy. I ate tofu and eggplant. Wow. It was delicious. I will return here to eat good Vietnamese food

Very good pho

By TexasRob67 |

On family vacation in Seattle. Food was very good, but lax and inattentive service netted the average rating. Relatively sparse crowd did not warrant the poor service. Myself and our two kids each had pho with spring rolls (shrimp), while my wife had chicken fried rice. Pho was very good, nearly outstanding. Spring rolls were also very good. The chicken fried rice was bland and very average.

Authentic

I would highly recommend Mekong Village for those willing to have an authentic Vietnamese experience. I don't remember exactly what the name of the dish I ordered was called but I really enjoyed it. Its basically the Vietnamese wrap but DIY. They give you all the ingredients and the rice papers for you to wrap it yourselves. It's delicious and fun to eat.

Always good!

There are so many things on the menu from which to choose! Everything that we have tried has been delicious. Ingredients are fresh. The owner and her staff are friendly and concerned about making the dining experience the best that it can be. We have been to this place at least 10 times since it opened.

Nice Vietnamese place in north Seattle

Nice atmosphere and good service. Very good food. Would recommend it to anyone looking for good Vietnamese food on north Aurora Avenue.

Very good

We are fans of Vietnamese cuisine. Our favorite being the Tamarind Tree on 12th and Jackson, Chinatown. For the north of the city this is a great choice. Good service, good food.

Surprisingly good

Spring rolls to die for! Stopped on a whim, and we are sure to go back. Quick tasty food. A bit pricey but very clean and the service was excellent.

Amazing unique vegetarian!

By IslandHoppy |

Quite impressed with their vegetarian options! we stopped by, walking somewhere else and could not resist trying it out. Unique twist on vietnamese - the taro burger (Mee kong burger I think) was delicious! Highly recommend!

Nice atmosphere and great service

By Art S |

Once inside Mekong Village, the atmosphere is dramatic and appealing. Our server was extremely helpful and made our visit enjoyable. I made a mistake in ordering the Vietnamese Pancake. It was about 90% bean sprouts, which didn't provide much taste. My wife selected better, with an assortment of meats and very fresh vegetables to be rolled in rice paper. That was tasty and fun. The menu is large. Don't be shy about asking the server for help

Great Pho/Lots of Menu Choices

By loverainsky |

We've been here several times, one of our favorites.... Delicious pho, and have tried several other items that were also very good: teriyaki, bahn mi sandwiches, grilled pork chop, shrimp paste over sugar cane, pot stickers.... Pro: Good service, good food with extensive menu choices, parking available, booths or tables available, good atmosphere Notes: For the seafood pho, I ask for extra seafood, as not many shrimp are in it. The location is on a busy highway.

Clean, good service, a tad bit pricy.

This is a brand new restaurant, in a building which used to house a shabby looking Korean restaurant. Wow...I was impressed with the renovation! The owners obviously sunk some money into it, unlike the vast majority of pho places you see. The menu is extensive, with a wide variety of Vietnamese and Chinese dishes. We were there when they were having a special, $5.99 for any pho. The problem is...there's nothing special about $5.99. Between Mekong Village's location on 120th, and 155th St in Shoreline, I can think of at least three places where the regular price of pho is $5.99 or less. MV's regular price is $6.99. Servings were on the small side. No complaints about the taste of the food, good, but nothing that made it really stand out. I do plan to go back to try more things. Service was excellent. Far more waitstaff than I normally see in a restaurant, and they were excellent at being observant without being intrusive. If you're a stickler for cleanliness, MV beats any other pho restaurant I've seen.

Great Vietnamese Food !

My husband and I wanted to try a new restaurant and had heard about Mekong VIllage on Aurora Avenue. It sits along a strip of businesses - close to Home Depot and next to the Emissions testing building. Do not let that deter you from this delightful restaurant. The owners are friendly and welcoming, the decor is clean and neat and makes you feel that you have entered a special place. The menu is large and diverse. We ordered several items - a vietnamese pancake which you cut up pieces, roll them in a large lettuce leaf with fresh basil and then dip it in a yummy fish sauce, lemon chicken, and a lettuce roll containing shrimp, shredded carrots, vermicelli, chinese sausage, and jicama. This seemed to be plenty of food and when it all arrived, we knew it was more than enough. The food is presented beautifully, hot, fresh, and prepared when you arrive. We shared a red bean and brown rice dessert topped with coconut milk. It was served warm - very filling but unusual and tasty. We will go back and try many of the dishes - one was very intriguing - durian ice cream! I was not that adventurous but want to eventually see what it taste like.

The best Vietnamese food north of downtown Seattle!!

By Vnvet68 |

Mekong Village just celebrated their first year in business. I hope they stay for many years. They have the best, most creative and authentic Vietnamese food around. Don't pass this place up. It is charming and the owners and staff are wonderful.

Consistently good

By LLori |

I'd be in trouble if Mekong Village were more accessible to our family. My weaknesses include their excellent fried spring rolls and Vietnamese crepe. Good pho and noodle bowls. They even have bahn mi (not on dinner menu but just ask). Can get crowded on weekends so call if you have a larger party.

So damn fresh and delicious!

By ZenBach |

We got the salt and pepper squid, Vietnamese pancake, rice noodles with barbecued pork, and a spring (fresh) roll. It was all delicious, but they took the pancake to a new level of amazing. It was caramelized and crispy on the outside. The herbs that come with it were divine. I am very picky, and I think this place absolutely rocks.

Best Pho So Far

By ManFromSilverLake |

The Pho here was amazing! So was the Summer/Spring shrimp rolls. The soup was hot and filled with meat and veggies. We have been eating Vietnamese food at home in NY, in Orlando Florida and now in Seattle Washington and this was the best. The waitress told us their chefs were from the West Coast and had a different style. When I attended college in Nebraska in the 1960s, the hotel there had a chef from the "West Coast" and he made the best WonTon soup I ever had. Maybe there is something to it. Our Vietnamese friend said it's the "authentic" Pho.

I'll be back, again and again.

Don't let the neighborhood (?) stop you from pulling into Mekong Village. It is an oasis among this decaying part of Aurora. Mekong Village is a quiet refuge of really good and authentic food. The service was impeccable and the waiter very knowledgeable about he food and the ingredients. He knew his stuff. We ordered fresh rolls with shrimp (two large rolls for $3.50) and they were excellent and nicely presented with two dipping bowls of a spicy peanut sauce. I ordered a steak salad and it was perfection with a sweetened rice wine vinegar dressing and fresh greens. The cost was an amazing $6.95 The menu is extensive and the prices are a lot lower for lunch than for dinner.

Definitely one of the best Cantonese places in North Seattle

By subh27 |

I have eaten more than 10 times here. The prices are very consistent and both the quality and quantity of food you get here are better than other similar restaurants. Very nice ambience, and conveniently located off SR 99.

Traditional Vietnamese food in an informal setting.

We had dinner from here-the egg rolls, chicken wings with fish sauce, grilled beef ribs with broken rice, and grilled pork with vermicelli are all excellent dishes. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Possibly the equal of Pho Mac

By John T |

Vietnamese Pho is the greatest ethnic food phenomena to hit America since Jewish chicken soup, pizza, and tacos & burritos. I discovered it 20 years ago. 15 years ago I learned that Tom Douglas regularly ate at a place on the corner of Rainier & Jackson called Pho Bac. It has been my definition of perfect Pho ever since. Recently, however, I discovered a real contender in my own back yard of North Seattle. Yesterday, I had a bowl of near perfect Pho at the Mekong Village. Today, in order to compare how good it was, I traveled to Pho Bac for lunch. Pho Bac was up to its usual standards. But,"Mon Diue" I actually believe that Mekong Village was either a tie, or one slight notch higher. Mekong Village served a sublime beef broth which is even slightly better than the broth at Pho Bac. Pho Bac's portion of sliced beef was slightly more generous than the Mekong serving. Pho Bac is an incredibly busy "Sports Bar" atmosphere with terrible parking while Mekong Village is a very attractive quiet dining room with abundant parking in North Seattle. All I can say is that I love them both, but find Mekong Village to be an unexpected contender for the title of Best Pho in Seattle. I would love to learn what Tom Douglas thinks of the food at Mekong Village.

High Quality Vietnamese Cuisine

By KateSeattle_WA |

Mekong Village has all the well-known Vietnamese dishes and some regional varieties as well. Try their Bun bowls of bar-b-qued meat, shrimp and eggrolls with fresh veggies and noodles. They have a good selection of vegetarian food, so ask if you don't see it on the menu (they cater to a local Buddhist temple). We love the Vietnamese Shrimp, Bun Rieu and Duck noodle soups, any of the trays with roll your own veggies, meat, seafood (shrimp on sugar cane, turmeric cod, etc.), and their stir-fried noodle dishes. Restaurant is always clean, food high-quality, staff friendly & helpful, and you feel welcomed as you walk into the door. Try something you've never had before and you'll be pleasantly surprised!

My favorite Pho resto

By Roy A |

Q-uality of food: fresh, good taste, meet expectation of original vietnamese dishes S-ervice is quick and friendly C-leanliness: moderate but meet good standard, no smell. V-alue : good value for money

Delicious and diverse Vietnamese cuisine

By loveDCA |

Mekong village is set along the car-busy aurora avenue and is well-worth a visit. The space is nice (it looks like a former Japanese restaurant) and the menu includes a variety of Vietnamese dishes, such as pho, noodle and rice dishes, and chef specials. I chose the latter and got a Bun Bo Hue, a spicy beef and pork stew that was delicious. My friend got the duck noodle soup. The portions were huge for the price and service was quick.

Good contender for our $$

By Travel2Food |

Good contender for our $$. Have only tried Pho thus far, which was average, but the other menu items look appetizing and the ambiance is very appealing. Their lunch hour has enticed a good set of clientele. Definitely a return to try with family and friends for the real rating, hope the quality and service live up to their prices. 3 stars on hold until then.

Gem on aurora

By Seanholdemenn |

I passed this place many many times thinking it was another value village or something that wasn't worth visiting on aurora. On my way to work, I was stuck in a really bad traffic on wa99 which led me to stop by Mekong village for their lunch special for 5.99. The interior was absolutely beautiful to my surprise! It looked like a restaurant that belonged in downtown Seattle, but for some reason, happened to be on aurora. Their lunch special pho was a small size which came out to be like a large. The aroma of the hearty broth made me regret not coming here sooner..

Wow Fantastic Night

By brentsmiley |

My wife spent a bunch of time on trip advisor researching different kinds of Asian food to introduce our kids to on our visit to Seattle. Mekong Village kept popping up as being great, especially for a family of five on a budget. The Good was fantastic and was presented beautifully. The portions were large and there was plenty of meat to go along with a wide array of freshveggies including local cilantro. The service was first rate especially since it was a busy Friday night with most tables filled. We were constantly checked on by an attentive staff (felt like family owned and run) and they were patient with us bringing forks when the kids couldn't handle chopsticks. Great experience we highly recommend it. Family of five, four entrees and extra rice and we walked out for 80 including 30 percent tip.

Enjoyable atmosphere, good service, delicious food.

3 of us dined here a few nights ago. Service was prompt and friendly. Atmosphere was calm, peaceful and pleasant. Food was fantastic. Price was not inexpensive, but a good value considering the entire package. We will definitely return to explore other menu choices!
