If you're near LAX, then it's a must!!

By JulieLu343 |

Stumbled across this great place while waiting for a flight. Staff are very friendly and the setting is great. The food was excellent and a good drinks selection. All in all, a great bar to visit if you're visiting LAX

old school bar with good food

By hugh b |

dark enough to call it a dive bar, but food good enough to be a restaurant. as it turned out.. tues. was 1/2 price burgers. wife really enjoyed her vegan burger, I enjoyed my reg burger. everything was fresh and served with a smile. this place has been here since the 50's and even has a fire place. cool spot !!

Melody’s Lax Security Assault

By Curiosity40407639199 |

Terrible service. Extremely violent. Unless you want to be attacked by staff, called a b***h by a grown man, repeatedly punching in the face, pushed on to the ground do not go to Melody’s. No woman should be treated like this

Great Hole In The Wall

By tjbl15 |

The food and drinks were great!!! It wasn't what I expected as far as crowd, but I looked past that. Happy hour prices were reasonable!

There and back again.

By azper03 |

Stopped by here while waiting for a flight out of the country. Atmosphere was excellent, low-lit and and warm with very friendly staff. The food was excellent for a bar (average plate was about $10-$15). Good beer selection and food/drink specials. Side note: we walked here from the airport and our waitress recommended using "lyft" app and gave us a coupon code for a $20 credit so getting back to the airport was fast and free! Probably one of the most impressive things was that my buddy forgot his credit card here and we didn't realize until we left the country. Upon our return, we came by and they were still holding it for him! Overall, a great place to kill a few hours before a flight.

Excellent bsr

By Scott M |

We were looking for somewhere reasonably close to our hotel and took s chance on Melody Bar and Grill; we were not disappointed! Great atmosphere, nice fire pit, excellent beers and very nice food offerings. We had either sliders or variations of the mac n cheese but other options included burgers, sandwiches and wraps. Service was timely and friendly. We will return!

Happy hour

By redbette |

Found this place by accident whilst going for a walk. Pleasant bar we arrived for happy hour and ate from happy hour menu. Friendly staff and a varied menu which was cheaply priced. Better than hotel prices.

It's the perfect dive bar

By Dar |

It's so not what one would expect from the back entrance. Don't be turned away from the ally. Once one enters the bar it appears small but do not be deceived. If you can find a seat in the back withthe big open window. Great for seeing the planes landing. But stay for the happy hour, and the great apps. Oh and the Marg's are strong and only $6.00 durung Happy Hour! 4-7. Great lunch and dinner specials. Also the live band is sweet also.

Just wanted to get a good meal…

By Ralf A |

Just wanted to get a good (and affordable) meal for supper and a drink before I catch my flight back to Europe the next morning……. But….. It appeared to be a cool Karaoke-Bar that serves really good food and drinks! Fantastic! And the folks around did a karaoke show that was simply AMAZING!

Cheers style bar in Westchester by LAX

By Agent R |

Stopped by for a quick cocktail while near the airport, It's just like a neighborhood bar for locals very friendly.

Great little bar and grill.

By Patricia S |

After walking the terminals of LAX in the search of food because of our 10 hour layover and too early to check in. We were hungry! After poor wifi connection in LAX, we finally connected and found this sweet little diner/bar just down the road. After $12 taxi ride just down the road, we walked into Melody's starving. Greeted with a huge smile and a very friendly personality our waitress was very attentive. Highly recommend this little gem. My LAX chicken burger was delicious and my partners chipotle burger was great too. The beer was flowing as well, which made this experience even better.

Old Bar Good Value

By Jonathan P |

Forget the old furniture and overall look, and the not-so-cool location, the bar offers good value. Cheap eats and drinks where your money can go much farther than the more pricey bars elsewhere. Can get a bit noisy at night. Also make sure your car is locked and look in on it once in a while. Friend of ours got some stuff stolen from her car - a blight on an otherwise fun night.

Finally found a place to stop while waiting for a flight at LAX

By traveloften028 |

I have always struggled with the fact that it is hard to find a place near LAX where you can stop and have a drink while waiting for an inbound guest. You can of course hit one of the many hotels along Century Blvd, but the sheer difficulty of parking makes that a non starter. I chanced on stopping at a place called Melody Bar on Sepulveda just north of the airport. It is not easy to spot and it doesn't stand out so you will need to actually look for it. But once inside, this is THE neighborhood pub that I've been looking for. Good pricing, friendly service, I didn't eat but the food I saw being served looked to be excellent. I found the place to stop while waiting for arriving passengers or to stop if you want a quick bite before leaving town yourself. PS - ample parking in the rear.

Happy hour time

By sonias692 |

They have excellent happily hour. (Yes I said, happily) There isn't a drink I believe over $6.00 on the menu. The Happy margarita was good and not near weak. All the appetizers were delicious. I especially like the bbq grill cheese bites and garlic fries. I am not sure what the nice looking black bartender name is with the locs. But He is very personable. I just watched him in action and He handles that entire bar by himself and everyone seems to love him. The waitresses are great too. The music is nice when the dj arrives. It's a very nice place to enjoy you night. They serve you with a smile.

Layover? Delay? Cancellation?

By Jay B |

Welcome to Hell A X the worst airport in the world. If you have any flight issues or are forced to leave security for any reason, there're no bars at LAX. This spot is any easy 15 min walk from terminal 1, which is fast than a cab. This dive bar has ok prices drinks, brunch specials until 4 and happy hour from 4-6. DY was whopping up some pulled pork tacos that had game. Close to LAX no cab required, perfect all your flying inconveniences.

Pretentious free zone

By travelguy w |

If you are in town for a trip and looking for a place close to the airport, or just live around LAX and want a pretentious free zone with solid food and affordable drinks, this is your place. When you go in, you are greeted with a view of a great middle of the room bar, and off to the side there are a couple of table areas, plus a tiki/pool room in the back. The food is fresh and solid, with basic american regulars, like sliders and french fries and my favorite, their Chicken Wings, which are done with a nice crispy texture. They have some unique twists, such as the toasted cheese sandwich, with baby back rib meat added, the best, gotta get this for sure. Don't expect anything fancy, it is a bit of a 'dive bar', but I mean that in a good way. No overpriced drinks, no attitude and no weird foods. And if you come on the right night, some great music too. Take chance, hit the Melody Bar!

Fun little neighborhood bar

By NTC214 |

Went last night and they had karaoke.....WIN! I ordered the clear skies martini (it was as close to my favorite cocktail as I could get), the chicken sliders and garlic fries. Everything was delicious. Even though I had dragon breath after eating the fries I didn't mind. The crowd is all locals, love that. No doubt I will return.

The price is too much

By Biniam A |

The bar is goodbut price is not fair. I like everything except price. For one vodka they charged me $12 dollar.

Its just ok. There is nothing better in the area

By Ruberman R |

Drinks were good and the food was good. Funny thing. The lady who was waiting on my table comes at first and says. I have to go and there is no other server so you have to go to the bar... Ok. 2 hours later. She still there...so whats wrong with this picture?

French Food?

By Kimo_Leahi |

We came to Melody expecting French food, but we left disappointed in their approach to some of the classics. The Good: Toasted baguette - the butter was good; the baguette was more rustic than expected - it lacked the light crispy crust of French bread Charred sugar snap peas - the best dish that we had; very well done; perfect crispness on the peas The Sad: Crispy chicken cordon blue sandwich - just call it what it is, a fried chicken sandwich; disappointed because we were expecting something less American Steamed black mussels - great courage trying to modify a classic, but it missed the mark; interesting choice using the pho spices, but it did nothing for the mussels The Service: It looked like our server just got out of bed and rolled into the restaurant - some semblance of professionalism would be appreciated; we were wanting to order more wine when the big plates came out, but alas, she disappeared for 30 minutes and by then we were ready to go somewhere else for dessert and drinks.

Local Joint with Friendly Vibes

By Traveling Foodie |

Local bar where everyone knows each other. Very friendly. Good food. Strong drinks. What more can I say? We took a chance and worked out in our favor. The bartenders were great!

Real Bar

By madscotsman115 |

My wife and I had a overnight at the nearby Radisson LAX and didn't fancy hotel food for the evening and wanting to see a bit of LA albeit just around the airport and went for a wander and found this wee Bar. We sat down at a booth in the dining area and were quickly attended to by a young lady who we found out through talking was called Nicole, she informed us if we ordered quickly we would make the Happy Hour but we took so long to peruse the menu we missed this but no big deal. We both ordered different Burgers and Fries which arrived reasonably quick and ordered some drinks which led to some more and Nicole coped well with my thick Glaswegian (Scottish) accent and as the bar wasn't too busy we enjoyed chatting away to Nicole swapping stories. As we had been travelling already for around 14 hours and another 5-6 ahead the next day we left just as the local band were setting up. If you are staying near the airport for a night I would recommend you seek out this bar for some good food and drinks at a reasonable price in a friendly bar.

Cool Spot With Delicious Food

By DMBT195 |

Probably the best tasting "Pulled Pork Sliders" ($9) that I have ever had. The Hawaiian bread with pineapple coleslaw and fired onion strings was "Da Bomb". Although I missed it, the daily "Happy Hour" seem to have some good food and drink specials. However, I did get to enjoy some live music in a nice chill atmosphere. If you are staying near LAX this place is definitely worth checking out.

A Diamond in the Rough

By pagesixtyone |

Two of my high school friends (one whom I hadn't seen for 30 years) happened to be in town for a few hours at the same time I was, and had to return their rental car before they flew out, so I looked up nearby restaurants and found Melody Bar and Grill. We all met at the car rental place and drove here together. Our eyes grew big as we pulled into the parking lot. It looked...rough. I could just imagine what my friends were thinking! We decided to brave it because the food was supposed to be good. And it was, in fact, it was very good. We were alone in the dining room and we had a great waitress who put up with us for two hours as we laughed hysterically at catch-up stories.

Few beers on titan tour

By sshieldslads |

Was looking a bar to watch nfl opener and this place hit the spot. Happy hour 4 till 7 so made good use of this. Bud light 4 dollars a bottle what more could you ask. Waitress service very quick and friendly. 10 minute walk from hyatt regency hotel

Great bar if stuck near lax!

By nicksmith40 |

Stuck at lax for a couple of nights so was looking for a bar to visit. Great food and service. Live band playing and also a pool table in the back. Had a great time with the locals and everyone was so friendly. Will definitely go back if i'm in the area ever again!

Old school since 1952

By Creeping_Death_LA |

I finally came in to use my restaurant.com certificate at this dive bar restaurant next LAX airport. The waitress was super nice and offered the lunch specials which were $2 sliders, I ordered four different types off the menu and Melody fries. The sliders were very good except one burger was under cooked but the fries were a bit greasy but still good. The restroom gets one star because it's beat up and smells, oh well what do you expect from a dive bar setting.

Great place for locals and tourists. Live Music. Good food.

By Chy L |

Visited this place on a recommendation from the cab driver. He said it's the most happening bar near the airport. I have to admit, when we arrived at 11pm on Friday the place was "jumping". Live band was on stage and everybody was in conversations with others. It wasn't long before we were in one too. We met both locals and tourists. It was great! The hot wings were to die for. The only concern is that the space is too small. There was no seats left inside, we had to be seated outside. But we still had a great time.

The Beat!

By Cdalisera10 |

Best burger I ever had. They need to come east! New York has nothing like this. Come to Westchester County! Your lines will be longer then in Cali.

Friendly bar close to LAX

By Karen R |

We always stop by here to see our favorite bartender who has been there forever. Great cheap drinks. Large bar seating area and tables are available. They do serve food but we have always just stopped by for a few drinks.

Lovely food and great beers

By Ali P |

Visited with friends after reading the reviews online. The 3 beer drinkers were impressed with the list of beers available and I had a lovely cocktail. Staff were really friendly and the food was delicious. Nice atmosphere, will definitely return

Old school since 1952

By Creeping_Death_LA |

If you come by midweek you will most likely be able to grab a seat and relax to enjoy a drink at the bar. If you expect a tranquil night do not come here on a Friday night as you will be lucky to find a place just to stand. We entered in front and it was so packed we left out the back door a couple minutes later, there's no recession here. I will have to come back one day and try out their food.

Great place to socialize

By RhonniH |

In addition to having great happy hour specials the food is delicious and inexpensive. The bartender DY is great. There is live entertainment on most evenings. Very casual setting. Very close to LAX to have lunch or dinner.

Superb bar... words wont be enough

By meghughes1988 |

I had a 10 hour lay over in LA first time traveller alone.... had never felt so welcome. The workers were so so humble and kind. They 100% changed my mind on coming back to America... i would def do another 10 hour lay over just to pop in if not stay a few days xxx highly recommend Xxxx Food was tasty and amazing. Fast but valuable and great quality Xxxx

Neighborhood bar feel

By RhonniH |

Happy hour is great. All the food is delicious but the prices on the food and drinks during happy hour make it even better. The bartender DY is fantastic. We try to go at least once a week.

They abused their customers

By Jo L |

Their security & owner man handled a woman & it was caught on video. He had her in a headlock. He literally threw her out the restaurant as he called her a female dog & the owner did nothing but said she deserved it

Perfect!!!!!

By antgat15 |

What an old school gem!!! A perfect spot to enjoy some really good bar food! The place cuts and makes the French Fries, Hands down the best I ever had. Nice selection of beers on tap too.

Lots of fun

By Denzal23 |

We popped into this bar for a quick drink before heading back to the hotel at about 8pm on a Wednesday night. We left about 1.45am after having a great night out! They was a live band and the drinks we decent and not overly expensive. People inside were friendly and we got chatting to a few people which was nice. Bartenders were nice and friendly too. It doesn't look much from the outside but it is worth a visit if you are staying nearby and want something a bit more lively than the hotel bar.

Great food

By the_connors |

We went here for lunch on the advice of the concierge at the Concourse hotel, we wanted a change from the hotel which was very good, we also wanted a good walk before our long flight home to Scotland. We both had a pasta dish from the extensive menu & we're not disappointed it was plentiful & delicious, very reasonable.

Airport stopover, awesome burger and bar.

By Andy H |

Forget about the journey before and after, take yourself out of the hotel and come here for a burger. Super tasty food, loud music, good beer. What more do you need; seriously?!

Unhinged staff and management

By Demetria R |

Excessive force. Assaulting and battering a woman when there are much more reasonable ways to remove someone from the property. Giant security guard grabbed a woman by her hair and took her out to the sidewalk and proceeded to slam her to the ground.

Hits home

By Sinead H |

Casual spot for decent food and good cocktails. Service is great but a little pricey. Booths are nice for comfortable family time.

Solid wings, great service

By Mackenzie M |

We went to Melody's as a group if around 10. We were seated pretty quickly and had all the options explained. We made it in time for happy hour which was awesome. We had just wanted an American Dining Experience and boy did this tick that box. We ate heaps of wings, all of which were fantastic! The waitress who served us was outstanding. I don't think I've ever had better service. I'll probably be heading back there next time I go through LAX.

Dine & Dance

By Traci C |

I've had so much about this after-hours spot, I had to go. The happy hour menu was great, the drinks were good, and the DJ was off the chain!! I'll be back...

😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

By Gretchen B |

I love this bar , the food is great not just bar food —-several healthy options , great happy hour !!!! If you’re in the airport just take the shuttle to the Hyatt and walk or you can walk from LAX

Better than it looked

By Linda M |

We found this on a map while waiting to fly out of LAX. the food had high marks so we decided to try. We agreed, the food was very good. We were there at happy hour for the specials. The drinks are generous and the food satisfying. We had spicy wings that were sauced just right, calamari with jalapeños with spicy aioli sauce and their famous Mac n cheese with bacon, corn, and jalapeños. Excellent to say the least. This will be a stop next time in the area. Don't let the exterior fool you.

Beyond Local

By Michael S |

Is this just another local bar or is it an Undiscovered find? Maybe both, but I enjoyed the food the beer and the great hospitality and the local flavor definitely have to visit this local dive bar!

Fantastic food and server Roe

By CookieNeenah |

I had 3 of the most delicious pulled pork sliders I have ever tasted. My husband had the Philly cheesesteak and he loved it. Roe was fantastic he is so helpful and sweet. Highly recommend.

Perfect dive bar in a sea of crummy hotel bars and restaurants.

By peterpower |

Not much for variety in the LAX area other than crummy hotel bars and restaurants. This place is an awesome dive bar and grille. Service was great, food was great, atmosphere was just what we were looking for. And to top it off, prices were not your typical LA prices. I will be back next time I have a LAX overnight!

Flight Fu deserves sliders

By astrojane |

Dejected after passport problem. No trip for me. Hungry, we searched Tripadvisor to see what was near LAX. Beer on tap, great slider combo. Helped. Doesn't look like much, but many improvements, said the likeable bartender. New wood bar. New beer cases. Give it a try

Pathetic Customer Service

By Rodney P |

I came here since it was recommended by the hotel bar tender. I would honestly have to say I received the worse customer service while trying to get a table to order food. I stood by the hostess desk and literally wasn't even acknowledged. Save you money and go elsewhere .

Happy Hour is a hit

By Jildac |

Totally good happy hour spot, don't expect awesome service, but expect good food and a variety of drinks on the happy hour menu. the place can get loud since they often have music, so if you are looking for romantic, this is not the place. if you are looking for fun with friends, this is great

Check this place out! Good food and vibes.

By YLtraveler |

We were looking for a place to have a cocktail and it was recommended by someone at our hotel. Very cool place! Excellent food and heavily poured drinks. Fun way to start off a vacation. Great service, too!

Lovely bar and good food

By Martyn19777 |

Visited with friends when looking for a decent meal. Well priced, tasty food and good selection of beers. Proper American bar and grill. Brilliant and friendly service. Will be going back.

the funniest bar in los angeles

By Patrik |

this bar has great happy hour specials, the food is delicious and cheap. The bartender DY is great. There is live entertainment most nights. very casual setting. Very close to LAX for lunch or dinner. The waiters are very nice and attentive, and the chef's recommendations are exquisite, it's fantastic!

Very cool!

By zanzig |

Was visiting a buddy in LA. He brought me there. When we first approached the place from the back I thought it was a mechnic shop. Look super scetchy. Walked in the place and looked like a dive bar. But DJ was bumping some awesome tunes. A super cool vibe and everyone was having a good time. And the Food was off the chain!! Jalopeno bacon mac n cheese!! Could not stop eating it! We walked out front and you can see the planes Landing at LAX. Planes looked so close you could touch them. I highly recomend this place.
