It’s wonderful experiencing spaces from the inside when they look amazing from other venues. That’s Meridian! From the view of every venue that’s part of The Village Dallas experience, you can’t wait to visit Meridian. I must admit, the design is more relaxed than I expected! If there’s a way to combine a high-end restaurant, with a Chic mid-century diner, they did it! The dishes, which are described as modern, Brazilian cuisine, with influences of Africa, Italy, and Japan, were delicious, and feeling. There’s not enough I can say about the Kohlrabi Caesar, Calabresa Sausage, nor Yuca Fries, Wow, just Wow! I can absolutely say, if you sit at the bar, you won’t be disappointed! Meridian carries Suntory, Japanese Whiskey, which is a huge plus for me! I always peer a watchful eye towards management, because they set the tone of the night, and it was wonderful. I’m Lorenzo, so, of course I have to describe the ambiance! Meridian offers a wonderful intersection of culture. Let’s call it, Highland Park, meets, Hip Hop couture, meets date night, all, with upbeat tracks. Guess what Meridian? I will definitely be back. Readers, I hope to see you soon! Xoxo Lorenzo!

So many favorites here! Beautiful place to relax with a Caipirinha and the BEST oysters in Dallas IMO. Chef Borges delivers a delicious experience with his modern Brazilian food.

Last night was the second year in a row we celebrated my birthday at Meridian. Obviously, we liked it a lot last year. We still liked it this year but it was not as good an experience. It was not just the 40 minute wait between appetizers and entrees, never noted at all by our server although a manager stopped by to apologize after about a half hour. Last year we were greeted with a complimentary serving of pão de queijo at the beginning of the meal and also an unexpected additional dessert at the end. Given the 40 minute lag time I think they could have done better than just the manager’s apology. And the food was not as good as last year. The beef tartare wrapped in shiso leaves was good but not chopped finely. And both entrees were lukewarm, as if they’d been sitting on the counter for 10 or more of those 40 minutes. I’ll add that their suggested tips are calculated after tax which seems a little sneaky. I did my own calculation of 20% based on the pre-tax subtotal, which is standard practice. Will I go back for my birthday next year? Probably not, there are plenty of other great restaurants around. We still plan to go to the happy hour with friends sometime, and hope the kitchen will be having a better night.

Trendy restaurant, but needs some improvement! It is one of the new proposals in Dallas .. and it recently entered the annual "10 Best New Restaurants in America" ranking .. it certainly has a certain level of notoriety and aspirations, BUT we are not there yet in my opinion. The food is good and you can see that the material is of quality. They also have long-aged meat ("viande maturée") which has little to do with the Brazilian tradition and its cost is clearly disproportionate. They have few cocktails, but good and served well. The wine list is curated and they have options both from the United States and from other regions (Italy, France and Spain for example), but you can see that the cellar is very young and they have no bottles of previous vintages. In fact, even wines that shouldn't be open for at least 6-8 years are offered too early (Barbaresco of 2018 for example !!!). Perhaps the most disturbing thing in the evening is the noise in the room and at times it is difficult to speak. The service is good, but also needs improvement. Rather high prices.
A good special Sunday dinner
We celebrated my birthday by trying Meridian for the first time. We started with a delicious special cocktail and the daily bread and street cheese. All were delicious. We then shared an order of mussels and the fish entree. Mussels were tasty but the fish was slightly overcooked so tougher than it should have been. Plus, at $47, the entree should have been prepared with greater care and served as a larger portion. The 2 desserts we shared were outstanding.
