Mermaid Inn is an historic Germantown (Philadelphia) fixture filled with great music (blues and jazz) and a fabulous down home atmosphere. The place is small, but welcoming with reasonable drinks and delicious bar food. The owners are also generous and dedicated to helping musicians in need as they allow their establishment to be taken over annually for the Zannie-Do Fest, a fundraiser honoring the late blues singer Zan Gardner. Dress causal and stop in for an evening of authentic music and conversation.

Very nice selection of beer. Some amazing musicians pop in. The weekends tend to have the best music, but open mic and various artist during the week can also be a lot of fun. You never know what you might see/hear.

This is a local hangout that has been around for as long as I can remember. Great place to listen to music - usually no cover, BTW - and to meet old friends. Three of us ordered the same thing - a trout dish that was unexpectedly good..Menu is limited to be sure but they have a decent beer list if you're into it.

The whole atmosphere is very cool. The history around this small bar is amazing. The local musical talent is just as amazing. If you are a musician and appreciate original music, go!

Funky great time for music and drinks. Local joint, nice bar scene. Very limited basic menu, good soup. Go for Music and Drinks. Close to Montgomery county. No off street parking but looks like plenty of free on street parking.

Historic building with a lively bar and live music. Bar food with ample portions and a congenial atmosphere with folks who like to dance

And I mean this in a good way. Stopped in for music, had a few beers. Clean, full of character and characters. Locals say don't eat here, only because the bartender had to go into the kitchen to cook your order. Be sure to walk through the tiny space and check it out. Would go back for drinks and atmosphere.

the Mermaid Inn has a small menu of excellent food. It's tasty and well priced. The beers at the bar are a nice selection of craft brews on tap and in bottles. The one thing that sets the Mermaid apart from all other bars is the nightly live music.Hear blues, folk, Irish, rock, played by talented local performers and occasional touring musicians nightly. This old bar (almost 300 years old) is the perfect place to listen to music since the crowds are usually very attentive. The current calendar is on the website.

Rustic, mahogany bar which often has good local jazz or rock bands. Generally, Sierra Nevada on tap and Allagash White bottles in reserve. Good place at very bottom of Hill across street from CVS.

The Mermaid Inn does have a menu on its tables-- and the food sounds tasty, fresh, local-- but I've never seen anyone eat here. They have beer on tap, which is what seems to be the most popular item. The reason to go to the Mermaid is to hear live music. A little-known Philadelphia gem!

Cheap eats, quick and decent food, some of the worlds best music! ALL kinds of music, folk, old timey, blues, ballads, zydeco, singer songwriter!

This was my most recent visit. I have visited several times and the vibe, the music and the staff have always been incredible. The food is great and the owner is always friendly and engaging. Look forward to visiting again real soon for their next John Prine night

I have not been here in years and I was shopping when a gallery owner suggested I go for the music. We arrived around 7:30, as I mistakenly believed that music started between 7:30 and 8:00. Happy Hour had ended. The food quite simply is terrible, it was the worst BLT I have ever had. Drinks were good. There is a wide selection of beer if you are a beer drinker. The bar tenders were attentive. There was a coverage charge for music of $12.00 and the music started at 9:00. The band was Dukes of Destiny and they were a good blues group and people were dancing. There is a weekly music schedule. There is parking on the street. My advice eat before hand and have something to pick on. To the owners how about cheese plates, cold dips- really pretzels and chips is not an option for the crowd you had.The night I was there is was mostly older crowd 50-60 plus.

Food? Meh! Music? Marvelous! One of the funkiest places I know -- filled with interesting locals. But eat somewhere else first.

Went here to hear a great jazz group. It’s a tiny place with tons of atmosphere and great, homey vibes. Gorgeous old bar and building.
Go for the music
Limited bar and even more limited food , but for this place,it's all about the music and dancing. Great small pub . Mostly locals but very welcoming. Beware of 8 dollar cover charge, at least on this Friday night.
