I eat here every week! Service is great food is AMAZING!!! It’s a J Alexander’s restaurant... way better than most 5 star steak restaurants in houston!

We had lunch Saturday afternoon. They followed very good distancing and sanitary protocols. The salads were delicious and the key lime pie the best I ever had (sorry Pappadeauxs). Can’t wait to go back.

Went for a bday lunch and the food was wonderful—chicken with broccoli and the avocado appetizer with tuna as well as the shrimp salad which was delicious and enough to share. They brought a slice of carrot cake with a candle which was a nice touch. Restaurant is quiet and low key which makes it perfect for a friends’ lunch or a business lunch!

Our server was Chevan, and she was fabulous. Very attentitive and everyone's food was wonderful. Went with 4 other friends to celebrate my belated birthday. She brought a huge slice of cake with ice cream and a candle. A great experience, and we will all come back.

The inside is nice..... Large bar.... This is J alaxanders resturant concept.... Average dish is around 20 bucks The queso is pretty good... A little salty... It's enought for about 2 or three people but 19 bucks for that and a diet coke.. Whow Its not a dressy place...

This is our favorite restaurant in Houston for our entire family. The food and atmosphere are the very best.

We are big fans of Houston’s and of J. Alexander’s in San Antonio. We were excited this concept has opened in Houston and we had dinner here tonight. We made a reservation through Resy, which indicated that only 5:45 PM and 6:45 PM (and after) were available. We wanted 6:15 so we took the 5:45. It was not full so we learned afterwards, if you want a reservation in the prime eating times, call the restaurant. Duh. Don’t rely on Resy to be accurate. It was an experience we expected, team service, plenty of booths, etc. Blink and you think you are looking at Houston’s menu, other than Merus offers more sides, which is great. Prices are generally comparable. We had the salmon and the baby back ribs and both were great. The Orzo and Wild Rice side is fabulous and one of the main attractions for us. Wine prices are better than Houston’s. We didn’t try the desserts so we can’t be helpful there. It’ll take more visits for us to fully judge the differences, but clearly Merus is trying to be a Houston’s clone. I’m anxious to check out the French Dip, which is my go-to at Houston’s. But, so far, so good. We eat at Houston’s once a week but we are more likely to come here, assuming the quality stays as it was tonight. Will be back soon.

We had never eaten here before, but we are already planning our next visit. We were so pleased w/everything: the atmosphere, the food, the service and that fact that we could actually carry on a conversation w/out a struggle. My husband ordered the prime rib, and it was outstanding! Also, until sampling a bite of my husband's carrot cake, I always thought I make the best carrot cake on the planet, but after tasting theirs, I may have changed my mind :)

I went here for a dinner with students. Then I took my husband back. We had the artichoke appetizer which is smoky perfection! I found it to be so tender and then to have the smoke from the grill taste in it was so good. The sauce that comes with it is almost like a Greek tzatziki, but not quite. We both ordered the prime rib and it was cooked perfectly. Just like I remember! Had a side salad in place of the mashed potatoes and it was also delicious. The menu is almost exactly what they had at Houston's prior to it becoming Hillstone. This place is fantastic and the service was also on point!

Visited the restaurant with 8 of my friends and we all had a great experience. The food was amazing, service was impeccable, ambience was classy and nice and overall experience was amazing. If you have the chance to visit this restaurant you should!

If you are in the Galleria area looking for an great place, Merus Grill is a must. I normally don’t write reviews, but this place deserves it. I think it is by far the best restaurant in up town park. The avocado bomb appetizer and kale salad is FANTASTIC. Atmosphere is great, big bar and the key lime pie, worth the calories

Nice upscale causal restaurant with good food selection and friendly staff. They have TVs in the bar area and a few seating booths by the bar incase you want to watch T.V. during dinner.

We have been to Merus Grill several time to dine in and have done take out numerous times. This time, we were meeting another couple who had never been to the restaurant. Our server, Jolynn, was beyond outstanding! She was warm, friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating and very humorous. She made the evening so very enjoyable aside from getting our order to us perfectly given the amount of changes we made! We all commented on how much quieter of a restaurant because it is carpeted, and we can actually hear each other without yelling across the table! I wear hearing aids, and the noise level here is sooooo much better than most restaurants. It has become one of our favorite restaurants! Ask for Jolynn; she is a joy!!

This is my first time visiting this place. We are celebrating my husband’s birthday. The food is very good. In our waitress Kennedy make sure that everything was to our satisfaction. Thank you Kennedy for making our day. We will definitely be back.

It was busy although you can't tell from outside, which is good. I didn't have to wait to be seated. My steak was cooked to perfection and the portion size was large. My drink was topped up a 2nd time. At the 3rd offer to top up, I declined. I had to wait a little to get the bill but other than that, it was great. I'd visit again.

Thank Allah that these folks restored the menu, service and prices of the old Houston's. Perhaps not commonly known - U can be fooled into going to the Hillstone for the Houston's experience and all U will get is robbed and poisoned. But not at Merus.

The opinion of our table of six: Food is mediocre at best. Service is not attentive and slow. Final tab was presented with 17.5% tip/gratity included. This eliminated the our (the customer's) option to increase the gratity beyond the standard. Due to the rudeness of the Dining Room Floor Manager rushing us to complete our desserts, my party of six felt as if our patronage was unwelcomed at Merus Grill -Uptown Park. Will exclude Merus Grill from my list of dining options.
