Perfect Restaurant Concept

By JPC451 |

First of all Mia's is not part of the Carrabba's chain - the chain, part of Outback, is separate from the 2 original Carrabba's in Houston, and Johnny Carrabba is no longer actively involved in its management. He opted to go back to Houston to run the 2 original restaurants and then opened Mia's and Grace's right next to the original Carrabba's on Kirby. So he has a block of restaurants, including a parking garage, which is a pretty neat concept in itself. You could eat lunch and dinner in this block every day for a week and never get bored with the options. So you are likely to spot Johnny at one of the restaurants - he was eating a late lunch at Mia's when we visited. Mia's might be the perfect restaurant concept - if I had to think of every little thing I would want to put into a restaurant, Mia's probably has it - from the exterior design and décor (like a large family home with a big porch) to the interior down to the restrooms. Every detail has been thought through to make the experience as good as possible. For example the vast selection of fountain drinks, lemonades, and iced tea (tea by the way wasn't that great) is spread out along a bar separate from the two giant ice and water machines, albeit still in line to make it a seamless transition. The service was incredible, especially given that it is order as you enter and wait for the food to be brought out, everything else is self serve. Every staff member I encountered was very friendly and eager to assist. When I walked back in with my plate of food because something wasn't quite as I had ordered, a manager in the middle of a conversation spotted me out of the corner of his eye and approached me to resolve the issue. The menu has a lot of different homestyle/Southern options that all sounded and looked great - chicken fried chicken or steak, meatloaf, steak, etc. It is a definitely pricier than most walk up and order restaurants, but you do get homestyle meals made to order, and the pager they give you doesn't buzz - it is actually a locator, so they bring the food to your table. Kid's meals are also a little pricey at $7. But everything was absolutely delicious - I had the chicken fried steak (got the jalapeno gravy on the side) with very tasty mashed potatoes and fresh fruit in lieu of the green beans. The kids chicken tenders had a different batter from the chicken fried steak but were also excellent as were the fries. Don't pass on the hot cookies - chocolate chip was great. I also had a vanilla milkshake - yes it was Blue Bell and very good, but if you are a purist, know that they use more than just ice cream and milk - a couple of squirts of vanilla syrup and a ladle of cream. So that said for the $5, I would probably skip the milkshake next time unless I just really had craving for a shake - the free softserve vanilla tastes almost identical, so top the cookie with that, and you have a great dessert for $1.50.

Great Standard!

We went to Mia’s after waiting in line at a local cafeteria for two hours. We just needed to eat and feel significant and we got lucky. The staff was so nice and we had great burgers. And our eight year old was so hungry but the service was fast. Thank God there are places that still care about customers. We can always count on this place.

Good burgers, free soft serve, a little pricey

By Bethany F |

The burgers here are big and juicy, and you have the chance to buy wine or choose from a large selection of beers. Best yet, there's free soft-serve for "kids of all ages." We saw plenty of adults taking advantage of the offer. The price was a little higher than you'd pay at many other burger joints, but this one is pretty classy, so we didn't mind. Parking was very easy in the garage across the street.

Great casual dining spot

By gloria k |

Sat outside on one of those perfect spring Sunday afternoons in Houston! Wonderful location; great casual type food; friendly service. I'll be back! Not fancy, just down home and comfortable.

First time there

By dhollier |

Not a fan of counter service but was with a friend and had the taco salad. Was unusual but good. Will try again when they are not so busy. Have to wait in line to order and line goes out the door.

Great place

By Scott P |

Good food, fun atmosphere, staff was very polite. Prices were a bit high but that's almost anywhere downtown I guess.

Always great food and service

By Chelsea L |

I've tried several items off the Mia's menu and every time I have been equally as impressed. The chips and queso are on point. The kids grilled cheese is great. The fried fish and shrimp are both excellent. The cheeseburger is wonderful. My personal favorite is the pulled pork sandwich with pickles. Everything is great! Food usually takes about 10-15 minutes to arrive, max. Great, family friendly atmosphere!

Where's the Chicken ?

By sweetsue5454 |

I returned to Mia's for lunch following an earlier pleasant experience there. In fact, I ordered the same entree as I had on my first visit to Mia's. This time, the Chicken Fried Chicken was all Fried Batter and I had to search for the chicken inside. I usually take off some of the batter whenever I have a "chicken-fried" entree, but usually there is a nice serving of the meat left. This trip I was disappointed to find very little chicken meat. The service was still prompt and very friendly, so I will just have to choose a different entree the next time I visit.

Great family spot

By alexd101171 |

We love the queso at this easy to feed everybody spot!! Good salads, burgers, pulled pork sandwiches, etc.

Great Casual Dining

By Julia Z |

Johnny Carrabba does it right. Went to Grace's for lunch and Mia's for dinner. Both were very good. This night we met friends for dinner. We have enjoyed more comfort food. Service was good thanks to Chuck who anticipated all of our needs. We lingered over our meal without any hassles. What a great Foodie Day.

Great Food and Family Friendly

By cassie1362 |

A co-worker had told me about his restaurant and that it was owned by Mandola, who started Carraba's. He said the food was great, especially the chicken fried steak. So since we were in that part of town we decided to check it out. He was right! It is very casual with ordering at the counter as you walk in and the menu includes burgers, bbq, fried chicken and chicken fried steak... You can grab a bottle of beer out of the cooler or order something else. We had the chicken fried steak and bison burger. Both were excellent. After you order your food you find a table, get your drinks and then they will bring the food out to you. The parking was a little crowded so I expected it to be inside, but it was fine. They also have a nice porch if the weather is good. It's definitely a family place with lots of kids around and getting their free ice cream, but the food is great, staff is friendly and it is a comfortable place to enjoy a good meal.

big burger

By gailhouston |

returned today after over a year ... my husband and i split a burger with fries ... burger was really plain ...think they forgot the seasoning today. the coke machine was totally broken .. wish they had free chocolate ice cream like they do for vanilla.

They go the extra mile

By L C L |

Super service, high quality casual fare. We like the fish tacos; occasionally indulge in the chicken fried steak. Queso, guacamole and salsa are all fresh and good. Good beer and wine selection, but milkshakes are not worth the cost and the wait. Very popular spot for good reason ....

Yum, Yum, and Fun

By AMADALTX |

What a great find for the family. Different concept of ordering a real meal and then bringing it to your table. Great food and atmosphere for the family (especially big with kids). All food was great: -chicken fried steak -chicken fried chicken -pulled pork sandwich -burger Friendly staff and can hang out as long as you want since you are not taking a servers table.

Awesome little family joint

By Kharis C |

Try the St louis ribs, nice place service was great, this is the place you want to go with the family it has something for everyone, pick up Mom Pop and the kids go have a Houston Texas meal

Greasy, hurried staff, and got sick from eating the ribs

By DrEitan |

I got sick after eating the short ribs...very gas flavor and loaded with pepper. The staff were in a hurry and cashier made an error with bill and had to correct them. They complied. The prices are a bit expensive for a hamburger...size was small for a 12 bucks burger. Houston has so much to choose...will be the last time for me.

Great fried chicken.

By Billnhouston2n |

Mis's is definitely a family restaurant and is part of the Carrabba family restaurants. The food is great, and the fried chicken is some of the best I've had in Houston.

Good Food, Comfortable Dining

By MikeandWilla |

Mia's is a less expensive variant from the creators of Carabba's and located around the corner from the original Carabba's off Kirby Drive in Houston. The atmosphere is very casual, orders taken at the counter and the food brought to you. The menu is kind of like an ice house but much improved in style and quality. I have eaten here a few times and had their hamburger, BBQ chicken and BBQ ribs. All have been very good, lots of food that tastes great. The ribs are exceptional in their flavor, minimal greasiness and very meaty. The dining rooms are open and tables easily brought together when needed. Kids are welcome and there is a nice big front porch to dine outdoors when the weather allows. I give this a strong recommendation for someone who wants to grab some food that tastes good without having to dress up.

Great food great atmosphere

By Rhonda F |

First time here and did not disappoint. Food was great, atmosphere was clean and open. It was a nice day so we sat on the patio. Patio.is covered and some umbrella and no cover. Tree lined and very inviting. Large inside space as well. We ate bison lettuce wraps with sweet potato fries and fish and shrimp fried platter. Both were great. They have yummy looking desserts. Banana pudding, cookie bars, cookies. Sauces are made fresh. You order when you arrive and pay and find your seat. Drinks are self serve. A server brings food to your table. Great for large group or a couple. They have a party room to reserve as well. Can't wait to go back

Lunch with a friend

By Mark D |

First, the food here is outstanding. It's along the lines of southern, Texas cooking. Nice casual place for business or friends. The weather was nice so we ate outside. I had the chicken tenders and my friend had the chicken fried chicken. Both came with their jalapeño white gravy. The gravy is so Good! You will not leave hungry. You will not be sorry going to Mia's.

Lovely lunch

By Kathy B |

Mia's gave us a delicious lunch while we were in Houston! My husband enjoyed his Hickory burger while I enjoyed my JC3 Skinny Salad! Be sure to try the Sangria Smoothies on a hot day!

best flank steak salad in houston!

By jo h |

I have visited four times and my favorite is the flank steak salad. With pomegranate seeds and fresh crips greens- perfectly grilled steak- it is the best. The atmosphere is wonderful with the big porch wrapped around the oak tree. Meals are served in white tin pans- a fun casual place and the owners and managers are all very friendly. We are taking my mother there for her birthday tomorrow and I know we won't be disappointed. Burgers are good too and great milkshakes!

Comfort Food Counter-Style

By Jfled |

I'm not big on order at the counter style restaurants, but this one was worth it. The same quality of food that you can find at Grace's or Carabba's next door in a much more relaxed atmosphere. Burgers, chicken-fried steak, salads, etc. A little crowded, but family-friendly place.

Always outstanding!

By ppettyHtown |

We go to the original Mia’s Table quite often. Everything is tasty and well priced for the quality of food. Chicken fried steak and chicken, chicken tenders, fish and shrimp tacos, the burgers and fries - all are delicious. We have never had a bad meal here. And of course, the free soft serve ice cream, in a cup or cone, is great for both kids and adults! This Johnny Carrabba place is excellent.

Great quick fix for good food

By Katzzam |

you stand in line and order your food, pay and go sit down, they will bring it to you. Mia's is ultra casual with a lovely atmosphere and down home feel. I love the food there they serve comfort food that tastes like homemade. We love hot dogs, we love the burger, we love the salads, and the pastas are great too. I highly recommend.

Nice Place/Good Food

By longhornjz |

I visited this restaurant for a business lunch on a Friday. It was not too crowded when we arrived at 11:30am, but filled by noon time. The restaurant is very clean with a trendy country diner theme. All of the employees were friendly and had good customer service. The prices are a bit high for the food you get, but the quality is good. I ordered the salad with grilled salmon. It had a nice amount of avocado and tomato slices and the salmon was well seasoned, although a bit dry. My colleagues ordered chicken strips and sandwiches, which looked tasty. The restaurant also offers an ample free parking lot, which is nice feature in that area.

So glad we tried it

By Jacob W |

Visiting Houston with my family and we were looking for a good local option for dinner that was kid friendly. What a great find! We’ll have to put this on our list of places to visit every time we’re in town. Probably the best chicken fried steak I’ve ever had. Everyone in our group loved their meal and we appreciated the relaxed atmosphere.

Love Mia's for take out

By mavsfan2016 |

I dont dine in at Mia's but really have enjoyed it consistently for quick take out. You can order on their webiste and then pull into one of the 'pick up to go' parking spots in their parking lot. For the most part they run on time and bring your order out to your car usually within 3-5 minutes of the time it is supposed to be ready. Most of the time our to go orders consist of a burger, sandwich, grilled cheese, chips and queso or tortilla soup. The food has always been good and fresh but I would not order the tortilla soup again. I thought the flavor was off and it was expensive for the serving size and given that I didnt like it! It had a bit of a sour taste to me. Otherwise, I highly recommend their burgers and grilled cheese. Oh, they also have good milkshakes (have tried chocolate and vanilla). Try the to go when you dont have time to dine in. It is well worth it!

Comfort food

By LBHouston11 |

Inexpensive and extensive menu. Great hamburgers, salads and even fried chicken. Nice outdoor eating and good service. Casual!

Nice, bit overpriced

By l0tusbl0ss0m |

Mia's is part of the Carraba's chain, this place is fun, loud, and casual. If I had a team of little leaguers I'd bring them here for a team lunch. Food is a bit overpriced and middle-of-the road. For a better meal go to Carrabas across the block.

Great Onion Rings!

By C LaMonte B |

This is a casual restaurant, but the food is fabulous. It is one of my moms favorite places to "lunch with the ladies" each week. I happened to join one week when I was in town and I must say I understand why. Parking is a bit limited, but otherwise it is a great lunch spot.

When is a wrap not a wrap?

By hjcbirdbath |

I gave 5 stars because our food was delicious. However they screwed up one order so we were almost finished with 2 meals when the last was served. I ordered the Buffalo lettuce wrap and though it was delicious it was not a wrap. I had lettuce, Buffalo burger, tomato and pickles and it was just laid out just like that. You could not pick it up and eat it. It was too wet from the juice from the meat. Sweet potato fries were fabulous! The free custard was a very nice touch! Rich and creamy!

My Go To

By King L |

Love this place. Always good never surprised. Perfect food always. Trendy and old fashion. Good for guest

Real Good Southern food

By Aaron Foxx |

This restaurant was literally hidden but a absolute hole in the wall. It located in an old big house behind two other restaurants, one of them being Grace’s on Kirby. There is also a parking garage that is free for customers to the left of restaurant and ample parking space. Once inside, you should order at front register and get your number and receipt. The menu had a great selection of plates and appetizers. The buffalo wings were absolutely delicious and enough to feed 2-3 people, fresh sauce and blue cheese. The menu also had sandwiches and many burger options but we decided to go with the Baby Back ribs and southern fried chicken. Both plates were delicious and full of flavor but not oily, quality of meat was also on point. The plates were very big portions enough for 2 hungry people so keep in mind when ordering... Also had unlimited refills and free ice cream cones. A must visit for future trips to Houston

Delicious food & great service

By Regina T |

We were visiting Houston for a wedding and decided to try Mia's on our way to the airport. The food was spot-on! The pulled pork BBQ sandwich, cheeseburgers, fried chicken, fish tacos, hand-dipped corn dog and fresh baked cookies were all big winners with our large group! The service is what you come to expect when dining at a Carrabba family establishment - top notch! Johnny Carrabba has hit another home run with Mia's! It will certainly be added to our list of stops when visiting Houston in the future!

Inconsistent

By 96skb |

We have been to Mia's Table countless times, and we find it very inconsistent. Sometimes it is amazing and other times, like last night, it is not as good. There were 6 of us dining last night, and all three people who ordered fries received cold food. Also, the 2 children in our group who ordered the chicken fingers were surprised to see how tiny they were. They used to be 3 very large pieces, and these were extremely small - and barely lukewarm. Definitely not worth the price, as both kids were still hungry after finishing their meals. Luckily there is the free soft serve for them to indulge in. Usually a manager comes by to check how things are, but last night nobody came by, so we couldn't express our disappointment. The atmosphere is great. The kids love it there. And when the food is good, it's really good. For the price, however, it needs to be more consistent.

Casual dining

By samlee01 |

It was casual dining with great hamburger and milk shake. The meeting room was very noisy and small for our group

Love the family friendly vibe

By wethere |

Good down home style food I’m a casual environment. We met Rosie who’s family owns the 3 restaurants adjacent to each other, and she is such a lovely person who was interested in meeting some of the guests. We appreciated the hospitality of the staff and didn’t expect to meet her and blow that hospitality meter off the charts. We will take the kids back there the next time we’re in town for sure.

Johnny Carrabba Does It Again!

By ppettyHtown |

My husband and I have Mia's in our Saturday lunch rotation. We both love the chicken fried steak here. Really tender meat, no gristle and fabulous jalapeño cream gravy. Fresh hot fries and a piece of Texas toast. Really tasty! And how cool is it to have a free soft serve machine with mini ice cream cones or cups?! There is even a step for young kids to stand on to get their own cone! If you haven't tried Mia's, they also have delicious burgers, chicken, fish tacos, and other comfort foods, give it a try!

Johnny Carrabba’s newest addition is fast, fresh and fabulous!

By mattfales |

Dined at Mia’s table for the first time this week. What a wonderful experience. Its a home run to me at every level. Super flavorful food, Disney like building, impeccably clean, and the friendliest staff I’ve encountered in a long time. The kids loved the free soft serve station too. Mr. Carrabba you amaze me that you’re still as passionate about providing Houston great dining experiences since your early days in the 80’s. Thank you!!

Huge Hamburgers

By Greta513 |

Picked up sandwiches from Mia's on the 4th of July, when the BBQ place we had picked had 30 cars in line for the drive thru. The hamburgers were huge and excellent, some of the best in town. My husband selected the Italian sausage sandwich and did not like it, but he is pretty fussy. The onion rings were OK, but the portion size was very small, given the extra fee charged to substitute onion rings for the fries. Liked the encouragement to help ourselves to soft serve while we waited for the To Go order. Would recommend highly, but suggest you eat there if possible, for best quality fries and hotter foods. The price for Cheeseburger is fair as it comes with French fries and cheese.

A New Option for Carraba's Fans with Kids

By Susy_Traveler |

If, like us, you're a big fan of the original Carrabba's on Kirby, but hesitate to take your small children, Mia's is for you. The cuisine is casual American- burgers, sandwiches, BBQ, fish tacos, salads, etc. The order-at-the-counter, get-it-at-your-table model is good for casual family meals, as is the atmosphere. The free soft serve doesn't hurt, either! Park in the free garage next door. Do be careful to check your order when it arrives- we've twice gotten cheese on a burger we ordered without, and the wrong kind of side on another order. (They gave us a free cookie to make up for it.)

Not Your Normal BBQ Joint

By David S |

This place has something for everyone. Mia’s serves up everything from BBQ, burgers, chicken fried steaks, salads, sandwiches, fish and tacos. I enjoyed the Pulled Pork Sandwich, potato salad, and beans ($9.00). The generous helping of pulled pork was well-seasoned, and had a great BBQ sauce. The beans were great with some jalapeno heat. Others in the group ordered the meatball sandwich, rotisserie chicken, chicken fried steak, and chicken fried chicken. All of the food was delicious, and the service was great! And is there a better way to top off a great meal than with free soft serve ice cream? The atmosphere ranges from a great place for families with small children, to large groups, to a couple’s night out.

Mother's Day at Mia's

By Gary C |

Celebrated Mother's Day 2017 at Mia's - everything was delicious. Fabulous tender perfect Chicken fried steak with amazing mashed potatoes also the jalapeño cream gravy was a tasty addition. Chicken fried chicken was just as good. All the items ordered nachos/salads were awesome. And to cap it off was complimentary soft serve ice-cream as dessert. Self service- Soft serve ice cream machine near the exit. Great meal. I will be back......

Fast Food 101

By George K |

This is what I came here for: Good quality junk food! Can’t wait to visit again and eat till I’m stuffed!

Good Home Style Food

By Jorge R |

Pretty nice restaurant with a patio. Food was good and restaurant clean and nice. Meatloaf was pretty good.

Finally!!!!!!! Free icream and cones

By AUSAGUY007 |

For a hamburger place.... It's pretty good. And free icream and cones from the machine are good too. I'm guessing the average ticket for one person is about 17 dollars. Rate this as helpful it is was

Great place when you have kids

By Mary M |

This is a go-to place when we have a little one with us. It's casual, noisy and filled with other kids - so you'll fit right in. I definitely wouldn't come here as a "couple", but it's family-friendly with more menu options than you'll get most other places. You can park across the street in the garage for Grace's as they're owned by the same - Grace's is also boisterous, but more upscale. Just depends on how long your little one will sit still!

The food is good.

By Jerry R |

The food is good. It is a self service place. I had the taco salad, my wife had the ribs and my daughter had the salmon salad.

We will be back. Quality food!

By Gayle E |

My husband loves chicken fried steak and he thought it was really good here. Hand made. I had the catfish and it was light, flaky and melt in your mouth good. Others at the table had gumbo, chicken tenders and a hamburger and they all loved their meal!

Always dependable

By LBHouston11 |

Start backwards with the free ice cream for dessert! Kids love the menu and outdoor play area. Can be loud as lots of families come here. Private room is no charge for a group of around 30. Food is great but once you get Bessie’s taco salad (queso on the side) you won’t get anything else....

One of our favorite family restaurants

By 96skb |

We've been here many times over the past few years. Sometimes the food hasn't been as great as others, but our most recent visit last week did not disappoint. All the food for our group was great (chicken fried chicken, pulled pork, southern fried chicken, chicken strips). We always run into people we know here because it is such a great atmosphere to go as a family.

A little too much....

By L C L |

Nice menu, lots of good beverage choices, nice soft serve ice cream to end your meal....but too much mustard on a so-so burger, too much pepper on an otherwise well-cooked roasted chicken. Have since heard that the chicken fried steak is the thing to get. Atmosphere is loud and overwhelmingly privileged, too....just a note.

Is it realMeat loaf

By AUSAGUY007 |

Never had a meatloaf with brown. Sauce I like the old school with the red sauce.... It's taste ok but not homemade would skip this one if you come by. See picture

Delicious Chicken Fried steak!!!

By Jared |

Wow. Probably the best CFS I’ve ever had. With a jalapeño cream gravy and some delicious mashed potatoes! This place is a little pricey but definitely gets a GOLD STAR!!!

Part of the Carrabba Family

By Tom R |

This is Johnny Carrabba's place... with great out door seating .It serves great hamburgers and sandwiches along with Fried Shrimp, Catfish and Chicken... There onion Rings are the best... They do have healthy salads as well.. Kids will love the FREE ice Cream machine as well as the 60 year old kids... Good parking and not a fancy place.

Children welcome

By Brooks Royster |

While not fine dining, we weren't expecting it either. It is adequate food served quickly once ordered through the line. Wine selection is VERY limited. This is a very casual place with outside seating which we wanted as it was a great day weather wise. Not expensive or I would have dropped a rating point as I would have expected more from the fare. Good, quick place to feed the kids.

Great family place

By houstonnative47 |

Our family went here for lunch recently since I had heard it was a family restaurant. We loved the Texas decor and ordering at the counter which saves money on tips. I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken fingers with sweet potato fries. The jalapeno cream gravy that came with it was spicy but wonderful. My youngest grandson had the flat iron steak and ate ALL of it which is rare! The older grandson had the kid's cheeseburger and was surprised at the bun and shape of it all. He probably wouldn't have eaten it if he had been younger because it was not the norm. My daughter liked her steak tacos with a spicy sauce. All in all a great meal and experience except it was kind of pricey.

Good Southern Food....

By washmjd |

I've eaten inside and taken out recently from here. I've had the fried chicken, burger, and chicken fried chicken. The first two being pretty good, while the CFC was real good. Not sure if I'd get this to go, however, in house this was one of the best I've had in Houston. There is a self serve ice cream machine, so this restaurant skews more towards family's with small kids. I would not suggest this for date night......

Mia´s at Upper Kirby

By DelirioHotelSA |

This is a very nice familiar neighborhood restaurant. Comfort food on a friendly setting. I prefer to sit outside as the patio is quite nice for evening diner. Antonio, the manager is super kind and accommodating and the overall service is good. Flat Iron Steak is great as well as the Shrimp Platter, and the Fish Tacos. Don’t leave without a free ice cream, serve it yourself! We always go back!

Ok food, cute place , small portions, pricey

By 5Starr4Me |

Pretty average. Not a fan of this kind of food. Tried it once. I expected something different since it is part of the Carrabba family.

Good eats

By Heidi K |

Stopped by for lunch. Had seen this restaurant on local news program featuring also their sister restaurants that are Owned by same family.(Johnny Carraba’s). Fun atmosphere for family. Good food somewhat overpriced. Really good milkshakes! I had a smoked ham and cheese sandwich. Wasn’t anything special reminded me of a sandwich I could have at home. Vanilla milkshake was good though. Hubby had a cheeseburger. Said was good but has had better. If we go back will try something else. It is very busy. They have a free ice cream machine which is always a plus. Rated average based on what we ordered but is a nice place and most likely will be back!

Love this casual spot for good food

By Chrisinkingwood2 |

We stopped in last week for a quick lunch, so glad they are back open. Wife had the Bison Burger and I enjoyed the Red Snapper Tacos. We shared an order of the sweet potato fries. It was a nice day so we enjoyed sitting outside to eat.

Been several times; excellent food.

By Edward's Assessments |

We have always enjoyed our food at Mia's. Even to go. They have a really good selection of food and it tastes very down-home. I certainly recommend Mia's. I've yet to hear a complaint about the food or service. Servings are big and the price seems reasonable.

Chicken Fried Steak & Chicken!

By Daniel A |

Another spot highly recommended & finally getting here. On a Tuesday night around 7 it was busier than I thought. We found a table outside as it was a warmer than usual October evening. They have a spacious dining area. You order in front & they bring your food out to you table. We started with chips and Queso which was very good but considering our entree portions not necessary. For Entrees we had the Chicken Fried Steak & Chicken Fried Chicken. Having lived in Texas for a few years I know a good Chicken Fried Steak & I can say this one was amazing. Maybe because it has been a few years since I’ve had one? No, don’t think so-pure bliss! With mashed potatoes & green beans-ultimate comfort food! The Chicken Fried Chicken was enjoyed immensely also! Surprisingly, given the generous portions, no doggie bag. Service was prompt and courteous. Leave the calorie thoughts at the door & enjoy the comfort food trip! Will be back!

disappointed this time

By gailhouston |

went with a large group of people (17 of us) and the cashier taking my order totally wasn't listening. ... ordered a cheeseburger cooked medium and French fries, extra, extra crispy with no salt... cheeseburger came out well done and French fries soggy. due to being with such a large group, I didn't want to return anything so I picked at it .... not a cheap restaurant, but good quality --- just frustrated that my order wasn't what I requested.

Awesome establishment

By PS. JESSIE |

I evacuated to Houston to get away from Hurricane Laura and decided to attend this restaurant because it was dig friendly. We were even allowed to sit INSIDE with her. She sat underneath my chair the entire time and never made a sound. The food was wonderful and well worth the 💰. I will go again when in town and also recommend this place to anyone in the Rice Village area.

Burgers and More

By Leighly |

Burgers and more at Mia's Table. This is a new, fresh casual dining with wine/beer available. Order at the counter, and outdoor dining is available. Family friendly. Enjoyed the Bison burger. Establishment is known for its beef burgers and fries as well.

Better than a Home cooked meal!

By coldblaze |

In a city with so many choices, Mia's is the place to go for amazing food. It fits in between a sit down restaurant and a fast food place. You walk up, purchase food yourself at the counter and it is brought to you. Mia's says its food is 'Made to Order' and they are not kidding. We waited about 10 to 15 minutes total for our orders and they were delicious. We had a variety of sandwiches, fries, chips, milkshakes and drinks. My favorite item was the milkshake! It is unbelievable. I would go back just for the freshly brewed sweet tea with mint. We made our own Arnold palmers with the sweet tea and lemonade and were in heaven. Don't think twice if you are looking for a great home style cooked meal served in south Houston.

Fun family-friendly option!

By luv2travelfromAR |

My family and I ate at Mia's on a Sunday night. The restaurant has a very comfortable atmosphere, with a wide array of menu choices to satisfy every member of the family! They also have a good selection of Texas beers (both in bottles and on draft). My daughter enjoyed the chicken tenders and French fries. The rest of our party each had salads, which were all quite good. We especially enjoyed the free ice cream available for dessert. I'd highly recommend Mia's for a family-friendly fun food experience!

Great food and fun

We come here often but this time it was with over 20 sorority sisters from 50 years ago. We had the private room and everyone enjoyed their meal. The staff were attentive and even took pictures for us.

Great Burgers & Pulled Pork

By Bretmcbunch |

We have dined here several times & it is always good! Our family ordered the hickory burger, cheeseburger & pulled pork sandwich. We enjoyed them all - we had an extra side of onion rings - love the homemade crust & dipping sauce. My son enjoyed his strawberry shake. Restaurant is very family friendly, lots of televisions to watch as you dine & staff is always friendly and service is great!

Best chicken fried steak in universe

By Pat M |

The fried batter is light and crispy. The steak is something high end like ribeye or strip. But the best part is the cream gravy with a light taste of jalapeño. I don't care where you think is the best place for chicken fried steak, this is better.

Dinner at Mia's

By zaede |

Convenient location, good food, good selection and fast service. The only complaint was the size of the milkshake. For the price, it was way over priced. They did have self serve soft ice cream.

Southern Comfort Food

By ian |

A typical American style restaurant where you order at reception and wait for your food to be brought to your table. There is no waiter service. This is comfort food. Fried shrimp , ribs, chicken fried steak and mac and cheese are all staples. It is family oriented and fairly noisy but in a nice sort of way. We enjoyed dinner for five people and left full and comforted but certainly not out of pocket.

Can't believe this was my first visit . . .

By JaimeMurcielago |

Sometimes I 'find' a restaurant and wonder why I didn't know of it before . . . and this was such a visit. Counter service, which is a good compromise in staff efficiency, but most of all, great family-style food. This is surely a must-try for family style dining in the Kirby area . . .

Yummy Lunch !

By sweetsue5454 |

Dined for the first time at Mia's upon recommendation from a friend who eats there regularly. I had the Chicken Fried Chicken with Jalapeño Cream Gravy. It was delicious. The ordering process was simple and fast. Service was also prompt. There were four of us in our party and the atmosphere is casual so we could be loud and laugh and not worry about disturbing other diners. I also appreciated the ample on-site parking lot--- this is a valued commodity in this Upper Kirby area. Mia's is the type of place I'll return to.

King of fried chicken lunches or dinners

By Danny K |

It's not a leap of faith if you're from the Houston, Texas area that any Carrabba restaurant venture is very very good. Mia's , named for Johnny Carrabba's daughter is just one of those you-can-count-on good food...great service, clean floors and tables, clean restrooms, and no good damn reason not to eat there. Expect higher end prices. A menu that ranges from pulled pork sandwiches, red snapper sandwiches, chicken fried steaks, hamburgers, fried chicken with mashed potatoes, and delicious green beans. About a dozen different beers. Homemade chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies and free ice cream cones on the way out the door. What's not to like.....

Great for kids

By red1990 |

Had dinner with our kids and grandkids. Fun place. Very good food and great place for young children. Free ice cream cones. Kids love this place.

Wonderful restaurant, just avoid the ribs

By Lilburn G |

While I have always enjoyed the food at Mia’s, and I know that most of the items on the menu are very good, I had a somewhat disappointing visit today. Unfortunately, it’s been a little while since I’ve been able to visit Mia’s, and I have always especially enjoyed their St. Louis Ribs. They were always very well done, especially for a restaurant that doesn’t specialize in BBQ. Today, I noticed that the St. Louis ribs have been replaced on the menu by baby back ribs so I decided to give them a try. Sadly, they were not nearly as good as are most of their other menu items. You can get similar baby back ribs at any Chili’s or Applebee’s in the country. I still recommend Mia’s Table, just avoid the baby back ribs.

Fun Family Dining

By Houba1 |

Great food, great service, great atmosphere. From burgers to chicken friend steak to fish tacos, they have a little bit of everything, and it is all good. Fun place to sit on the porch and enjoy the afternoon or evening.

Great place for kids

By LBHouston11 |

Can be loud but food and service are always great. Friendly waiters. Love the taco salad but get the queso on the side. Free soft serve so the kids like it. Outdoor eating is great for children with a few places to play. Good children’s menu.

Great food!

By Judy T |

I ate at the Mia's on I-45 North in The Woodlands area and loved it. I too am not fond of ordering at a counter, but the steak salad I ate was great, better than any I have had elsewhere.

Great choices, great meal!

By Kathleen H |

We watched the construction of this restaurant, but didn't have the chance to visit until this evening. I have to admit, since my "baby boy" is now 15 years old and 6 feet tall, I wasn't in a huge hurry to visit a "family friendly" place on a Friday night after a long work week, even though we love the related Carrabba's next door. We were pleasantly surprised -- while there were several 3-5 year olds in attendance, we would never have known it. The restaurant is separated into 4 dining areas, so the noise level stays under control. There are a wide variety of choices on the menu. Several sounded really good, including the pulled pork, but I settled on the red snapper fish tacos which came with spicy tomatillo sauce, chips and queso - very nice. My son had the fried shrimp basket which he enjoyed. My husband had the chicken fried chicken platter with awesome cream gravy - totally loved it. Today it was 99 degrees outside, but once it cools down, the outside area will be a great place to enjoy a meal or a beer. We will definitely be back with the rest of the family.

Rise to the occasion

By RMcgr |

Visited here with a group of friends. We went on a Friday evening. Had a wonderful time. Food was great and they have a wonderful variety. I got the chicken tacos with chip and queso. The restaurant is owned by the same people who own Grace's and Carraba's. So I had high expectations and Mia's rose to the occasion. I look forward to visiting again.

Has gone down hill.

By Std63nyc |

Mia’s used to be a good spot to grab a high quality meal at a reasonable price. That has changed dramatically. I️ waited almost 20 minutes for a flat iron steak that was very under cooked. The baked bean side dish was cold and the Cole slaw was watery. The steak was supposed to be 10 ounces but it was only 6 ounces. We won’t be coming back.

Nice family friendly place

By pbnh2000 |

The menu makes no apology for it's southern fried and BBQ selection. Good selection of adult beverages as well. We had a small family reunion in the private room and our waiter, Chuck, did an incredible job taking care of us. The food was hot and delicious. Very casual atmosphere and kid friendly.

Awesome Chicken Fried Steak

By Michele C |

What a cool place! Great patio. The staff is friendly. Everything on my plate was fantastic! I can't wait to go back

Excellent self service restaurant, Texas style

By Robert D |

They have a huge menu and you get good food for your money. Nicely decorated inside with lots of space. There is also a big, covered terrace to enjoy the Houston warmth... There is some space for kids to play around an old tree and as a bonus: there is free ice cream, all you can eat...

Comfort food in a comfortable family-friendly restaurant

By PeanutButters |

This is the place to go if you're looking for a filling meal without any fussiness. Going to Mia's is like popping over a friend's house for a bite: welcoming, casual, easygoing and friendly. The menu serves standard American comfort food. Keep in mind: the portions are huge and there are few light and healthy options on the menu. But if you're looking to treat yourself to a sinfully and deliciously fattening meal, then Mia's is a solid choice. (Try the burgers, they're particularly good.)

A Houston Favorite

By douglhuth |

Johnny Carrabba does it again with Mia's. Looking for an easy dining choice for kids or to meet friends? Mia's is the place. Ample free parking shared with sister properties Carrabba's and Grace's. Staff is friendly and polite. A very good assortment of drinks and a diverse enough menu to satisfy everyone in the family. My personal favorite is the pulled pork sandwich and a cold draft beer. Don't forget the free soft-serve ice cream!

Decent

By Russell |

Stopped in after a long flight, had a really friendly welcome and the food was good. I had a cheeseburger and it was tasty. Nice atmosphere and great for what we needed, which was a chilled out bite to eat.

Very nice place to have lunch and ice cream.

By Jamey D |

This was my first time trying Mia's, and I felt it was a good experience. I ordered chicken strips, and they were pretty good. My friends had burgers and they enjoyed it. There was a bit of disorganization regarding our order, but it's minor. What I did appreciate was the free soft-serve ice cream machine. That ice cream was actually really good. I also liked their cookies. The decor is simple but effective. The entrance is like any classic fast grill, and my father actually compared it to a restaurant at Disney. Usually, I'm the one making those comparisons, so that's saying something. Mia's is worth checking out. Next time, I want to try their "little red smoker".

After 2 chicken 🐔 tender orders... Chicken sandwich... Steak and queso around 70 bucks... Whow but at least u get free ice cream lol

Our unexpected visit to Mia's turned into a nice and satisfying experience.

By SS3L |

My family and I had planned to dine at Carrabba's off of Kirby Drive, but their parking lot was congested and it appeared to be very busy. There is a convenient parking garage across from Carrabba's where we parked. Then I noticed Mia's restaurant around the corner on Argonne Street. It had outdoor seating and big sign with "Family Friendly" written across it. Since we had our children, and it looked more like a casual dining establishment, we walked to Mia's and decided to give it a try. You order at the counter and are given a beeper device. You seat yourself, and the server locates you to deliver your meal. There is an array of bottled and draft beers, domestic and imported, to select from as well as wines. My husband ordered a draft beer suggested by the staff and he liked it. We chose to eat outdoors on one of the decks since it was a nice evening. Mia's has warm atmosphere, casual and kid-friendly. There was a graduation party in one of the reserved rooms, but the traffic flow and noise was not bad. Our food arrived within 15 minutes which I thought was great. I ordered the red snapper fish tacos that came with queso dip and chips. Delicious! The tacos were full of flavor and had a little spice to them which I do not mind. My husband had the chicken fingers basket. The chicken was good, crisp and moist inside; the fries were also crisp but average. Our kids ordered from the kids menu. My son said his burger tasted good, but he did not care for the sour dough bread. Our daughter enjoyed the free soft-serve ice cream cone for dessert. My son and I ordered malts which were rich, creamy goodness that capped off our pleasant dinner at Mia's. We will definitely return!

great food, open late

By 59mgil |

Some out of town friends wanted to meet somewhere for Vietnamese food and we ends up here. Great food, lots of space for bigger parties, parking is in back.

Local favorite!

By 48Buddy |

Superb burgers and tacos! It has a walk up counter at the entrance with food delivery to your table. They feature burgers and tacos, but also have sandwiches and salads. The tacos are served with yummy queso and chips. They offer complimentary soft serve ice cream cones which makes it a family favorite eating spot! There is a nice shaded patio with outdoor seating and a dog friendly policy.

Family Friendly, Laid Back

By vickay |

Great place to go with the family or couples, or by yourself. We had the ribs and pulled pork sandwich....delicious! And each came with two sides! The manager, Nicholas, was very friendly and, obviously loves his job. He is very much a hands on manager...he was all over the place checking on customers, but did so in a very conversational way. Matter of fact, everyone who worked there appeared to like their job. Try their chocolate chip cookies! Yum! Casual dining....will definitely return!

Cool Place

By bullman63 |

The family ate here after church on Sunday. The ribs, chicken strips, taco salad, shrimp and flatiron steak were all good. Had a hamburger that came out with a bun that was hard around the edges and soggy in the middle. The fries were good as were the sweet potato fries. The fruit cups were very fresh. I didn’t like the tipping in advance as you don’t really get serviced other than they bring your food to you and then pick up when done; otherwise you get your own refills, have to go back to counter if you want to order something additional to eat and take home boxes. Family of 5 ate for right at $100, so you should check the prices before you go as the selections are very similar to most places where the meal would have been 25% less, and tasted about the same. Food was good overall and the restaurant was clean so this is a place worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Tasty and good service!

By James M |

Had the tacos and they were very good... nice helpful staff and chilled atmosphere. Recommended the IPA too.

Nice experience

By JWBDallas |

Pulled pork sandwich, onion rings and potato salad. Too much bread for me, pork a little on the dry side, but tasty! Onion rings and potato salad were excellent!

Pepper Overload

By John H |

Home style meals are wonderful. However an over abundance of pepper is not enjoyed by all. The green beans looked delectable however you could barely taste them for the pepper. The same with the pork chop it was over seasoned and not good.

Yuck

By gailhouston |

My husband and I went there tonight... We ordered a burger... It was the worst... I don't know if it was the extra seasoning on the burger... I even had them redo it and the second burger still had a raunchy taste We do not recommend this restaurant...

Incredible food and hospitality!

By Hope2find |

We were treated like royalty! I took home half our meal and a take out order of meatloaf! Everything was devious and thought the restaurant was upbeat! It was a rainy day and we were met at our car with umbrellas to walk us in! I have never experienced this! The servers were joyful and you can tell this restaurant is all about making their customers happy!

Amazing Mia's - Houston

The food, drinks, cookies were all delicious. The people very nice and friendly. I will return to Mia's next time I come to Houston, Tx

Fun Friendly Fast Food

By Nancy D |

We enjoyed our meal even though it was calorific. I mean chicken fried chicken was a huge portion. It is a once in a while treat.sat on porch where we easily parked baby stroller and were very comfortable. Would consider it again if we are in the neighborhood.

Fast Food Done Right

By Jon5839 |

This is one of my favorite restaurants of this genre, where you order at the counter and they either bring the food to you or you pick it up. The food is usually great, although the orders of fried chicken are not always consistent. But it does taste good - just that sometimes they use very small pieces of chicken as we experienced on a recent visit. This place is very popular with families so if loud kids and kids running around bothers you, go elsewhere. Otherwise, I recommend this place for what it is - a very good fast food restaurant.

Fun Family Restaurant

By JazzyChas |

For a family restaurant, and a casual family atmosphere, this place is worth visiting. I'm not crazy about their ribs: too greasy and the 'cue sauce is not the best -- tastes like they put artificial smoke in it. But most items on the menu are good for casual fare, and the prices are relatively decent. Good selection of beers, wines and craft sodas.

Good place for families to hang out on patio

By Jeanna B |

Enjoyed Mia's on a Saturday afternoon with kids. Was great place for families to hang out and enjoy the nice Houston weather. Food is just OK; expensive for what you get. We had shrimp tacos with just two shrimp in each taco for $14 and an Asian salad with shrimp which included four shrimp for $16. Seemed very sparse to me. Also had the pulled pork sandwich plate which was excellent. I would go again just for the Thin Mint shake.

Great casual restaurant

By Kim M |

The fried chicken dinner is awesome. The mac and cheese, potato salad, and green beans are all delicious. The staff is very friendly.

A great place for a burger - and more

By DLivy |

Ate here for the first timke about two weeks ago. Had a cheese burger, onion rings and chocolate malt. They were all the best I've ever had - truly. The burger is large, juicy and tastes "fresh". The onion rings were obviously handmade and also fresh. The malt was FANTASTIC. Be sure and get an ice cream cone (free) when you leave. This restaurant is new and is owned by the same people that own the original Carrabas on Kirby in Houston

Chicken fried Chicken and TV's

By jsthouston |

Large portions of okay to good food. You place your order as you enter, find a table and wait, not very long, for it to be delivered. Self serve soft drinks and ice tea plus beer if ordered. A mid-range priced restaurant for those who like large portions.

First time back in over 5 years -- so yummy!

By gailhouston |

Met some friends there for lunch. My husband and I split the hamburger which comes with french fries. Everything was wonderful. Wish the burger had been less salty, but it was still tasty. French fries, which I ordered, extra crispy with no salt, were perfect. Highly recommend this restaurant. Very clean inside and nice staff.

Family enjoyed it.

By Jonesyd1 |

Had family from out of town. Had 4 children in the bunch so I thought they would enjoy the free ice cream. Here at Mia's you walk up to the register to order. If you don't know what you want, be sure to look over the menu before stepping up to order. It made the ordering process for us so much eaiser. The kid's menu was just right for our 2 younger ones. All the food was prepared just as ordered and was fresh, hot, and delicious. Nice family place.

Lunch during Harvey storm

By ppettyHtown |

My husband and I have Mia's in our Saturday lunch rotation. But this past Wednesday, trying for a bit of normalcy from the storms, we stopped by for a late lunch. Johnny Carabba's employees did not disappoint. We both had the chicken fried steak. Really tender meat, no gristle and fabulous jalapeño cream gravy. So nice to have a bit of real, delicious food as a break from so much tragedy and devastation! If you haven't tried Mia's, they also have delicious burgers, chicken, fish tacos, and other comfort foods, give it a try!

Consistent high quality of food and service. .

By jorge0915 |

The manager(s) create a great family atmosphere. Good for family with children and free ice cream! For the guys... they have the football and basketball games on on the TV.

Best Vanilla Shakes! Period!

By TUKUMUSTAFA |

Comfort food . Well prepared and tasty. Great burgers and asian salad . Their Vanilla Shake made with Bluebell ice cream is not the best I have ever tasted. It is worthy of a prize!

Would not go back

By tsd98 |

The jalapeño gravy on my chicken fried chicken was uncalled for and left me with heartburn for hours afterward. Food pretty much reminds me of Denny’s. Crowded, hot and loud inside and parking is limited, too. Free ice cream if you are into that sort of stuff but no bowls or spoons? Food was expensive and made me sick, no reason to return!

Family Friendly, that's all

By pinkspur |

We ordered the turkey burger and the grilled chicken sandwich. Turkey had a salty, liquid smoke flavor. Grilled chicken was average. The fries tasted like they were fried in old oil.

Love This Mia's Table

By Rebekajean |

We stopped for dinner before going to the Houston Zoo Lights and enjoyed our meals. Love the atmosphere at this Mia's more than the one near The Woodlands. It has a warmer feel. The Bison Burger was juicy and cooked perfectly, my fish taco's were tender and plentiful and hubby's pork chops were tasty. They do put more seasoning on than any of us were used to but next time we'll ask for less and I'm sure they will oblige. Overall, a good meal at a good price.

Wonderful joint.

By Jamey D |

I had the pulled chicken sandwich on my trip this time, and it was really good. The bun is delicious. I also really liked the fries, and loved the onion rings.

Good food, generous portions and a great ending with an ice cream cone! What's there not to like?

By suzieq |

I've never had a bad meal here, The portions are generous, food is consistent and meal is prepped quickly. I've zeroed in on the Steak Salad, one of the best salads in town. Frequently, I pick one up to take home. It's large enough to be a meal and how often do you get a steak salad with flavorful, hot steak. Dressing rocks and just the right amount.

Delicious food and Fast Service

By Denise2Yu2 |

Omg...... this PLACE was amazing. The food was so delicious, and it was enough for left overs. I recommend this spot to any age group including a lovely family spot. We will be returning ~

Nice casual eatery

By houstontravelingfool |

My three teenage grandchildren picked the place for lunch and it was my first time there. Service, from the moment we walked in, was exceptional. It's a cute little casual place and was packed - with lots of young kids, maybe because it's still Christmas break. Food was OK. I had a burger and it was just OK. Nothing memorable. The kids had burgers and/or chicken and they were happy. Think I'll go back and give them another try with something different. Too many people there not to.

Good Place

By cokerbud |

This place is built for families with children. It keeps them out of the nice restaurants across the street. Mia’s has walk up service, beer and wine, inside and outside seating, is loud enough so when people can’t control their offspring that it doesn’t ruin the evening for everyone else, and for some odd reason feel free to bring the dog. The menu is set so adults can have a good meal and at the same time satisfy the young ones. I found the food to be of the quality we all expect from the Carrabba’s family. It would be hard for me to go back because of how great Carrabba’s and Gracie’s are next door. I would highly recommend this place if you have a hankering for comfort food or those who have children. Thank You Ms. Rosie for the gift cards! I will pick up your cane anytime!

Great food!

By mxlovers |

Went here for lunch and it was really good food. Had the chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and cream corn. Chicken was so tender I could cut it with a fork. My husband got the fried chicken and said it was amazing. Son got chicken strips, said they were really good as well.

Cracked tooth.

By sclem755 |

I usually love Mia's. However; this past Sunday I ordered meatloaf (my usual), I heated up the leftovers on Monday...there was a piece of bone or something that I bit down on. I now have a cracked and chipped molar. It's on the inside too, so every time I speak, the side of my tongue is being painfully scraped. Awesome. Never again. The meatloaf wasn't worth my future dental bill.

Dinner after checking into. nearby hotel…

By WTCarter1656 |

Wide selection, Ample food portions, fast service and the overall quality of the food and service was very good…worthily of another visit!

Way to Go

By Daniel |

This was my co-workers and I 2nd favorite restaurant in Houston based on location, affordability and service. The food was also right on.. southern food cooked to perfection. The southern fried chicken and chicken fried steak were both delicious. One of my coleagues said the Baby back ribs could have used some more meat, but that they gave her a giant rack so she was full with a half-rack and the sauce she said was tasty. loved how cute the back porch of the restaurant was and how they offered us free ice cream too!! I would 100000% return on future trips to Houston.

Very Loud and Very Kid Friendly Pretty Good Food

By labucli517 |

If you are wanting an even reasonably, moderately calm and quiet dinner this is not your place. Kid friendly is a gross understatement. The kids of all ages were for the most part running amok, screaming and getting in the wait staffs way. We are grandparents of small children and used to it but it was so loud we had to speak at a really loud level for our friends to hear us. Its just not for us, but it IS kid friendly! That being said the food was good but not remarkable. The fried oysters were mostly batter, but the mashed potatoes WERE outstanding, as was the free self serve ice cream. I thought the sides were limited, but good. When we walked in there was no one to direct us what to do, so that was a little confusing. When you walk in (and we had reservations) you are supposed to place your order and are then served at your table. Of the four of us, they got two of our orders wrong and even had to correct their correction but the wait staff was apologetic and prompt. All four of us at our table agreed the food, in general was good, but not outstanding. The parking was difficult and confusing. Overall it was good for what it was and for the price and a good place to take the family.

WE TRIED IT AGAIN AFTER 13 MONTHS, AND AM SO GLAD WE DID!!

By gailhouston |

My husband and I returned to Mia's Table yesterday for lunch. It was DELICIOUS. We split the cheeseburger that came with French fries. Everything was VERY fresh and yummy. When we were there 13 months ago, it wasn't like that. Obviously, they improved their quality of EVERYTHING. So glad that we gave it another try. Really lovely establishment... Can't wait to return!!

Great southern food

By Bryan Riley Hefner |

Some real good southern food. Bunch of different plates, had the 6 0Z pork chops with corn and mashed potatoes. Everything was superb, like your grandmothers cooking. I would love to go back on future trips to Texas and enjoy some great food and milkshakes.

Large Portions and Great Flavor

By hazellehaz |

This place fills up quick but you can also call ahead an order to go. The staff is excellent and attentive. You order and then go find a table to sit down and they bring the food to you. I recommend the chicken fried steak with the jalapeño gravy. Also has free soft serve ice cream as you leave.

Good good and decent prices

By Amanda D |

One our favorites when we are in Houston. Door dash or dine in food quality is superb. A good home cooked meal away from home.

An informal, upscale Texas-style restaurant

By WorldwideTravelerUSA |

Mia's is located in the center of Houston, 1/2 mile north of US 59, 1 block east of Kirby Dr, and 1 block south of Alabama St. It's located in a new building that has been designed so that diners can choose from different types of seating areas - a large, cafe-style inside dining room, a smaller inside dining room with a large stone fireplace, several outdoor patios, and an outdoor picnic area under a large tree. The background music ranges from 50's Rock and Roll to contemporary Country Western. During our visit, the flat screen TV's on the walls were set to the X-Games from Barcelona which surprisingly kept many youngsters and adults engaged in and talking about the same program at the same time. Our meals were well-prepared and the ingredients were of high quality. You can expect that 2 burgers or sandwiches with fries and drinks will cost $ 25 - $ 30. This is not "cheap" by local Houston standards but is definitely worth the price. The entire restuarant is very clean and there is plenty of free parking on the premises and nearby.

Casual, inexpensive and great food

By LBHouston11 |

Went with our kids and grandchildren. Large menu, including good children's menu. Casual - outdoor eating available. A bit loud and crowded, but it is definitely family-oriented. Free ice cream cones - an added treat. Order at the counter, but food brought to the table. Hamburgers, grilled and fried chicken, salads - sweet potato fries

Family friendly fast casual from Johnny Carraba

By davemh333 |

This is a warm, bright, friendly restaurant right off Kirby. Very nice outdoor dining area on the front porch. You place your order at the counter and then take a GPS device that shows the waitstaff where to delver your food. While my friend told me that his fired chicken was excellent (they have a lot of fried food here), my grilled chicken sandwich was way too greasy. Free soft serve ice cream makes this a great place to take young kids though.

Expensive and Mediocre at Best

By zepper50 |

Grandchild in tow we thought Mia's would be a good place with the ice cream to follow. Turns out the ice cream was the only good thing to eat and enjoy. Child's grill cheese dry and tasteless. Fried shrimp small, overcooked and covered with too much corn meal. Prices higher than most similar eateries. Parking very crowded. Table clearance polite and friendly. We will not return again.

Excellent lunch option

By PamRoad |

This is a great place to go if you want a good lunch with few frills. Order at the counter and wait for them to bring you the food. The services is not speedy, but not particularly slow either. The prices are quite reasonable. The pulled pork sandwich was delicious.

Like eating meals on your Grandma's back porch

By Aggietiffany |

My family adores our time at Mia's Table. We've eaten here practically every birthday and Sunday evening. It is quite a drive for us, but it feels like "going home" for us as the staff is all very friendly and the atmosphere on the patio is like no where else in Houston. Sitting inside can be loud and really, if you can't sit outside, it's not the same place. Our favorite item to order is the chicken fried chicken. It comes with mashed potatoes and green beans. The mashed potatoes are very good, but the chicken fried chicken is amazing. This is a yummy casual restaurant that is extremely family friendly. They serve Texas toast and it is as good as it gets here. They do have salads, but mostly they serve burgers, tacos and fried food. Their appetizers are rather limited, but the atmosphere and staff make up for it. If you have kids or are looking for a place to go with your dog, this is the spot.

Very Good Southern Comfort Food

By vaughanm1976 |

Very casual restaurant where you order at a counter, find a table, and food is brought to you. Extensive menu of southern favorites. Very good.

Vegetable slices.

By Curiosity691103 |

I ordered a burger tonight which could hav been great but the vegetables in it were unsatisfying. The onions were tiny the lettuce looked shredded and then chopped and the tomatoes were mandolin slices off of a kind of mushy tomato. Last time I came And got a taco salad. It wasn’t bad really but the salad was all wrong. The lettuce was over chopped. I don’t remember the tomatoes. They were so small Almost non existent and the sour cream was poured out in single strands like it was being laced on Too. Very unsatisfying. All presentation no satisfying crunch. I almost Felt Like not eating any of it. My husband loves this place. He loves the chicken fried steak and the fries which get crunchy and stay that’s at if you ask.

Good food, good selection

By 4PamelaDee |

We recently met family for lunch on Sunday, so there were eight of us in total. We found an open table to accommodate us all. The menu is varied although prices were a tad high. Restaurant is very clean. Food was very good. Free ice cream cones, after.

Perfect place for large groups and family get togethers

By Rosalie1836 |

Order as we entered. Quick and fast, made it easy for our large group with lots of separate checks. I had the spicy fish tacos and sweet potato fires. No complaints amongst our 22 individual members. Manager and staff were very helpful. Large long tables were easily available for our group along with 4 tops for smaller parties. Tables were quickly bussed and our dirty dishes were cleared as we completed our meals. Very kid friendly. Serve yourself cones of frozen custard was available after the meal at no additional charge. Recommend for large groups.

Great Place for Kids

By Carbonara46 |

While the food is not gourmet, the place caters to a casual fun atmosphere that children love and parents will love, too. Great french fries and other kid friendly food.

Near Bellaire

By Loperfan |

We spent 4 days with family in Bellaire and this was our outing to a casual-type restaurant. We had pulled pork sandwiches with green beans and potato salad. Each meal was about $12. All the food was tasty and service was quick, even on a busy Saturday night. We have no complaints (except for Houston traffic). Indoor and outdoor seating available and a free parking garage across the street.

Went here with a co-worker for lunch. Food was very good and delivered to the table fairly quickly. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. It seemed like the place was very busy at lunch time...recommend getting there a little early. There is a parking garage right across the street. I had the chicken strips with jalapeño gravy, creamed corn, black-eyed peas. All of it was good and reasonably priced. Enjoy!

Lunch trip was worse than last visit. We are disappointed with the meal we ordered- Chicken Fried Steak was tiny next to sloppy, watery mash potatoes. For the price we paid we would have gotten a much better CFS at Goodsons in Tomball and still saved money. Ordered a small milkshake which was REALLY small- 2-sip shake $4. Family lunch crowd was huge so ice cream machine was empty and needed attention for a while. Overpriced, messy (lots of kids), food quality -bland. Not a favorite choice.
