While on a cruise ship, we hadn't scheduled an excursion for San Diego, so we decided to walk down to the Seaport Village to the Mike Hess Brewing for lunch. What a fantastic choice!! We like to try various breweries while traveling, and we really enjoyed this one! The beer was good, and the tacos were amazing!! The manager who waited on us was very friendly and took time to make us feel right at home, which we really appreciated.

We started a tab and stayed for about an hour and a half. We ordered a few beers, the chips, and guacamole, carnita taco and fish taco. I don't drink so I ordered a lime soda water and it was a Kirkland's canned water. You get a number after you order downstairs. We headed up to the upper deck and watched the naval ships. The huge USS Anchorage came through as we were eating. It's a great place to stop and have food. It's in the Seaport Village so it's among many shops, eateries and ice cream stand. The bathrooms are accessible in the Seaport Village area. Our total was about $84 for the 2 of us. We had a Big Dog (hot dog wrapped in bacon with jalapeño cream sauce, Hawaiian Choirzo taco, Fish taco, chips and guacamole, 3 Hazy IPAs, and a sparkling Kirkland lime water).

Delicious tacos, great beer and an awesome view of the harbor while you eat! A quick and light bite while you enjoy all the other shops at Seaport Village

Flight of bear a few appetizers to share with my wife. Throw in the most romantic sunset. Made a special day. Staff was very friendly. Went back the next day!

Great location. But wonderful beers. The flight was definitely the way to go, with each beer tasty. Try the Mandatory Fun and Steel Beach. Can’t beat the view. We didn’t eat the tacos but the locals we were with said we missed out. Hoping to return on our next visit to San Diego.

My partner and I visited Mike Hess after seeing a few recommendations online before we visited San Diego for our first time last year. We came for the quesabirria and then we came back for the quesabirria, and then back again the next day too. The food was great, the tacos were excellent and the beer was sublime too. 10/10 we loved this place and can't wait to come back again some day!

Want a great dinner at a reasonable price, excellent beer and a view of a lifetime? Go to Mike Hess Brewing in Seaport Village and sit upstairs on the deck. We watched the sunset from here twice during our visit to San Diego. The fish tacos were ~$4 each. 2 quesadillas were $4.50. Guac and chips $6.25. All perfect for sharing - or not! People watching was fun as you look over the boardwalk - lots of characters in the crowds.

Great place to have a couple of beers and some chips and Guagimoli Great views when you get on the outside rail. Have to order inside and take your drinks and they bring the food.

Called in before catching flight back to UK. impressive range of drinks. advise you try the flight lots of choice also had a special offer of discounts on mertch at the time. Front of house very impressive and helpful, if you have an hoour or so before going to the airport call in

I had a Kolsch beer which was done perfectly to type, light and malty, and a fish and a scallop taco. The fish taco was excellent and the scallop had an amazing flavor but was a bit overly juicy. But the scallops were cooked perfectly and I was able to look past the extra moisture in the dish. I am ready to go back and try a different beer and taco. Highly recommended.

Popped in here on our first day as hotel right besides. A very cozy place right on sea front with stunning sunset. Met a wonderful lady from San Diego whom we chatted with for a while. Made our night. Will be back. Great drinks and vibe.

Popped in here twice for a few beers in the evening to sit on the deck and watch the sign go down. There are many excellent craft beers to choose from with a few wines too, plus soft drinks. You can choose a ‘sample beer tray’ so you may try out a few of the beers available. Some are much stronger than others. They also sell various tacos and other small dishes if you are hungry. Totally relaxed and friendly vibe with lovely staff. Definitely worth a visit.

We are at the Seaport Village site with the view of the harbor. The tacos were amazing, by far the best we had while in San Diego. We had the craft soda (root beer and diet cola) were very good. The view was also quite amazing during our short wait for food and while we dined. Highly recommend this location.

Fantastic Tacos!!!! This is what we got and they were amazing. Though I have to say my favorite was the Crispy Shrimp taco and my husband loved the Carne Asada taco best. The quality of the ingredients was excellent and we had no issue with the pricing at all. The Drinks were served in an aluminum cup that you can keep or put in their recycle bin, California is very earth friendly and we appreciated that option. Outdoor seating allowed us to enjoy our lunch and crowd watch along the waterfront. The staff were friendly and efficient and we didn't have to wait long for our order. We will absolutely be going back next we visit Sandiego. 2 Carnitas $7.90 1 SD Carne Asada $4.75 1 Crispy Shrimp Taco $4.75 1 20oz Daiquiri Slushie $15.00 1 20oz Margarita Slushie $15.00

Went here on the walk back to my hotel to pick up some beer to go. Very friendly staff and lots of choices. The beer was really good.

I was in the area for a work convention and ate here with two of my coworkers. They had a nice beer selection. I got the ceviche, which was ok. It was a nice place to sit outside and have a drink/meal, as it had been raining since we got there.

We stopped here mid afternoon and got a table on the second floor deck overlooking the San Diego Bay. Great beer selection and solid snacks. It's a great place to chill.

Visited here almost every night of our San Deigo visit! Absolutely brilliant! The views, the atmosphere, the food, the drink the service... couldn't name a single fault! If you're nearby and don't visit here, you missing out - big time!

We walked all along the water and were ready for a drink. The outdoor seating with gorgeous water views enticed us to stop in. We had a few beers, met some new friends, and really enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommend for a casual drink with incredible views & people watching.

I ordered a strawberry daiquiri yesterday and today. No problem yesterday. Today it was a lady at the register and her "helper" behind her rude about giving me a straw and a napkin. She told me to get a napkin off the table. Went out front, no napkins. Went out back and she told my husband he could not walk through... he had to walk around. We are here with 250 other workers for a conference Guarantee that I will spread the word to not go back.

Our second visit here after enjoying drinks in the sun in August 2022. This time we brought our son's and they loved it too! Food is casual but quick (the loaded fries were fantastic!) We also enjoyed our drinks and the take away cups. We added to our glass collection after trying beer flights and also grabbed a t-shirt too. Would love to come again if we find ourselves back in San Diego (which would be an absolute treat!!)

We had a very late lunch at this small restaurant. I had two vegetarian tacos, the portabello mushroom, and the zucchini taco. Both delicious. My hubby had fish & chips which was on the "specials" board where you order. Very reasonably priced food. Would recommend this to anyone. Friendly staff.

Great location, knowledgeable staff, and awesome beer. My wife and I stopped in to have a seat and enjoy the scenery. Loved the atmosphere!

It was a little confusing whether you order ahead of time or sit down to order. The food was very good and the beer options were unique and local. The restrooms were several buildings away from the restaurant so difficult to wash my hands prior to eating or after eating. Overall a good experience.

We sat upstairs and had a really nice view of the harbor and watched the boats and planes take off. The menu is limited and mainly tacos. I got fish and chips. They were hand dipped in beer batter. The tarter sauce was homemade and good. The food took a long time to come out about 40 minutes. The fries had truffle on them which was interesting. I think this place is better for just beer and good views

Sat up in the tower had a nice drink and views, ordered food ( small taco) after 30 mins waiting I asked the server where my food is “ the kitchen is busy” she says, ok fair enough but was expecting her to call through to confirm order, 45 mins waiting, once again where is my food, she radios the kitchen “ it’s just coming” I told them I only had 10 mins as need to leave for an appointment. After 1 hour and 5 mins still no food, had to ask for refund and it turned out they had LOST my ticket… hmmm you couldn’t have found that out 35 mins ago when I asked the first time… guess not. Apologies not sincere in my eyes, I had to ask for the refund! Go for the views and beer. Do better Mike brewery!

Great beer selection, really good tacos, and a memorable view at sunset. Had the crispy shrimp and spicy shrimp tacos. They were so good I then had them again. The next day I came back and had the ceviche. Huge portion and tasty. Highly recommend.

Great location for afternoon beers by the sea. We sampled many of the beers which were all great and we’ll recommended by the servers. We also ate some of the tacos which were super tasty. Highly recommend the scallop taco! Prices were really reasonable considering the location of the place.

Mike Hess Brewing is an excellent addition to Seaport Village. Nice location right along the waterfront, with a pretty view from the front porch seating. Lots of great craft beer. I've tried several local breweries in the past during my visits to San Diego, but never Mike Hess My mistake! These folks make a lot of very good brews and a nice variety of styles. When I visited, there were 18 beers from Mike Hess, plus a couple guest taps, a seltzer or two plus a few NA beers. I focused on the IPAs and stouts; not a bad one in the bunch and a couple of the DIPAs were very good (Mandatory Fun and Assaulted by Feather Pillows). The food was equal to the beer. Nice variety of tacos and we ain't talking Taco Bell here. These are gourmet! Lots of variety and a wide spectrum of flavors. Seemed like high-quality ingredients. All I can say is that the tacos tasted great! I was in town for a conference at the Hyatt adjacent to Seaport Village, so I ended up eating dinner at Mike Hess twice (Wednesday and Thursday). We ordered inside at the counter (both beer and food) and carried our drinks out to our table. Within no time one of the staff had our collection of tacos out to us. Fast and easy! The staff was very friendly, courteous, and helpful. The first night the staff only came around to bring food orders and take away empty glasses, but the second night they were also taking refill orders and food orders from the tables (perhaps because that was also trivia night?). I would be prepared to just go into the counter for any beer and food orders; it is easy enough to do. We sat out on the front porch both nights and really enjoyed the open-air atmosphere and the view. The only negative that was noted was that there is quite a walk to the restroom located elsewhere within Seaport Village. Bottomline, this is a great addition to Seaport Village. Great beer, great tacos, friendly service and a nice pub setting. Winner every day!

Loved every single thing about Mike Hess Brewing. We sat upstairs and couldn't have asked for better views, tacos, or beer. So much fun and HIGHLY recommend!

This is a great restaurant and brewery! My wife and I came here in November when visiting for a conference and it was very easy to walk over from our hotel. We sat outside and enjoyed a nice flight, chips and guac, and tacos. The beer was very good and paired really well with the food. The food was all very tasty and we enjoyed most of it, though the homemade chips were a bit thick for our liking. Service was excellent and we had a really great lunch. It was a nice way to welcome us to San Diego!

Stopped for a cooling drink on our way from Midway back to our hotel. Beer was fantastic but the Tacos.... WOW! Fish and Shrimp Tacos among the best we ate on our two week trip around southern California (yes, we ate Tacos at least once every day). Highly recommended!

Stopped there for lunch after touring the USS midway. All the food was amazing but the crispy shrimp taco was next level. Great atmosphere right by the water. Had a wait to get a table it was busy but so worth it. Highly recommend.

Amazing tacos and even better beer! Totally try a flight and get a free glass to take home as a souvenir! The bartender was very kind and fun!
Rude!
Unbelievable how rude the woman was here. My daughter was so uncomfortable we had to leave before we sat down. I don’t leave bad reviews, unless it’s “that bad”. . Perhaps it was a bad day for her. Do better!
