Reasonable food, service is slow when it gets busy. Overall there are much better places for food. Small and gets overcrowded

Stopped in for happy hour with a friend, mostly because I knew they served the "citywide special." Not my favorite citywide---they serve a Staub lager (you might as well drink mineral water:)) Afterwards, I inquired about two other beers that looked great, and they were out of both (it was 5:30 pm). The cocktails are good, but not worth $11-$15. I would go to any number of other Philly spots instead.

This place is probably outstanding in the summer. Can't wait to return. Lot's of good beer on draft and chicken slider are awesome. Kevin the bartender did an awesome job.

Dined al fresco at this place on a Saturday night. Typical bar food menu witth a few surprises, like the korean steak sandwich, and an interesting drink menu. The place is also a concert venue. Good vibe, good service, good food.

Interesting scene. Stella out of a can is not my favorite. Felt like the entire place could use a good power wash. Staff was kind though not overly attentive. Not bad. Not great. Interesting bathrooms.

We were here a Saturday night. It was a lot of people here. We got a table for two and was taken well care of by the waiter. An interesting an nice place. Recommended.

Had lunch here recently. Very crowded, but got a table in little time. Menu was great, recommend the chicken sandwich with their French fries. reasonable priced. Would recommend and return.

In Central Philadelphia for a business conference. Met up with a college friend of mine whom I hadn’t seen in a long time. She recommended stopping at Milkboy for dinner. Drinks were reasonably priced. I got a beer, my friend got a glass of wine. For dinner my friend had a burger, and I had the Applewood smoked turkey club sandwich. Both sandwiches came with homemade fries. The portions were more than ample. All said and done, our total bill was under $50. The vibe was very casual. Good chill music in the background. If I had one criticism of the establishment, it would be that the dinner was quite loud. I found that during our conversation my friend and I had to speak very loudly to hear each other. If you are looking for a casual establishment where you can get a good beer and a sandwich at a reasonable price, I would highly recommend Milkboy.

I recently went here for drinks with a friend who was in town from France. They have a great selection and we sat outside on the sidewalk. It is a great place to people watch and enjoy the city. I did not eat here yet, but the waitress was very friendly and made us feel at home. I look forward to eating here as well.

Milkboy is so much fun! We had a blast, and visited 3 days in a row. Dan, the bartender, is the absolute best! The drinks are the perfect, and the food is yummy too! Definitely put it on your list for at least a drink!

I was in need of a small concert venue to hold a corporate event at and boy did this place deliver. It was short walk from our hotel (Courtyard), had full menu downstairs and offered app choices for me upstairs, provided an audio tech, a doorman and even brought in several case of beer that we requested (Sly Fox) for the evening. The acoustics were wonderful (not being a musician myself I could be mistaken but from an everyday listener I thought they were great) and the band simply rocked the place. We have been told this was the best night at this event in years so I can't thank the people of MilkBoy enough for how easy it was to put on this event and how well executed it was from start to finish.

During four days of culinary and cultural deprivation at a company conference in Philadelphia, Milkboy turned out to be a brilliant oasis that provided solace, great service, and a good selection of beers and ciders. The staff are brilliant, they know their stuff and nothing was too much trouble. I would have spent the whole conference here if my job and my liver didn't depend on it! Thanks guys, as Arnie says, I'll be back!

We got into Philly late for a work meeting. Milk Boy was nearby and still serving food so we stopped in. We were starving so we ordered right away. The bartender was great and answered are questions graciously. I ordered the hangover burger, delicious. The brussels sprouts were awesome, and I don't like brussels sprouts. Great beer selection to top it off. The place was so good we ended up going there the next night for dinner.

When I arrived for lunch, they were already out of two sandwich items. I ordered the brined chicken breast sandwich. It was interesting and difficult to eat, so removed the breast and ate it with out the bread. Every thing is served with fries. Would have been nice to order a side salad or fruit. Had a very interesting menu of appetizers like Brussel sprouts deep fried with some kind of topping. Wish I had ordered that instead of the chicken!

Arrived at the restaurant on a busy Friday eve, but the staff found us a table right away. It was a bit chilly at our table, but hey, the outside temp was probably 20F. We had tix to a local theater event so server Krista went out of her way to take our orders quickly and deliver the food. At her suggestion, I ordered the Mushroom and seitan (essentially a cheesesteak without the steak) with fries and a draught beer from their Ship Bottom collection, while my wife got the tacos. My Mushroom sandwich was absolutely delicious, particularly when dipped in the accompanying mushroom sauce. While I'm not vegetarian, this sandwich alone could convince me to go pure veggie. The mix of mushroom, wheat gluten, cream cheese and that superb Hoagie roll created a great tasting and filling meal. Heartily recommended to all, vegetarian or meat-loving! And Krista's service simply made an enjoyable evening even better.

My friend and I stopped in here to get lunch around 1230. After waiting about ten minutes to even be greeted by a server (who not once came back to check on us after we ordered) we ended up walking out before our food even came. All we ordered were nachos and after waiting 50 minutes for an appetizer and not even being approached about the waitress at all, we left. Definitely not a place I'd reccomend to anyone who doesnt have a lot of time to wait for food.

A wonderful variety of food that tasted great. Servers were fast and friendly. Service was quick even with our party of 11 people.

My memory of this place is a little hazy but we did have fun. The drinks were strong but good and the service attentive. Think you can get some quite random stuff in here like Boddingtons which is a beer from Manchester England.

Milkboy was recommended to me as a good place to have a drink and grab a quick dinner. I'm so glad I went. The cocktail menu and wine selection is very good. Service was fast and friendly. I would definitely go back again.

Stopped just to give feet a break extremely friendly. Open seating out sidewalk which is nice on collet day however it was in 90's should have had ac

Stepped in for a bite while waiting for someone at the hospital across the street. Met by a very colorful bartender who was very entertaining to watch. Ate a well prepared Po Boy Sammy but made too spicy with the horseradish mayo and Thai Chili sauce combo. And I probably shouldn't have added more jalapeño pieces from my fries to it either. 😓 Overall a lovely bar with a rustic ambiance but not the most welcoming wait staff (no smiles when you walk past them) - minus the bartender who had some zing to his attitude while staying on top of his bar clientele.

My friends stumbled upon this place while in Philadelphia for business last week. The service was great and the staff was really friendly and attentive. I highly suggest checking this place out for food and or drinks. They also have live music, I'm not sure how often. They also have an outdoor patio which I love coming from Arizona.

We had a cosy afternoon there - sitting outside in the sun enjoying a gin & tonic. The service was really great, food average

Went to Milkboy on Oct 7 to see my hometown fav band - The trews (from Canada). Went to the ground floor bar for some before concert drinks and food. Good selection of draught and cans. Barmaid that night was very nice, took care of me. Ordered the Wings. The wings were very "blah", no real flavour, no breading. Didnt even seem to be cooked well enough. The wings came with Bleu cheese. I dont know what it was, or if it was a "local" variation of Bleu (Blue) cheese, but it was very runny and almost milky (I guess it comes with the name "Milkboy"). After drinks went upstairs to the concert "Venue". Great room!! Bar at the back of the room with all you would need. Price for beer was great (not gouging you). Stage at front was fairly small, room holds (looked like) 100-150 people. great to get up-close to the performers.

We were in the area for days due to our daughter requiring major surgery & hospitalization at Jefferson. The one thing getting us through this tough time was seeking out interesting places to eat after visiting hours. Stumbled across Milkboy and fell in love with the Poblano Mac N Cheese; ultimate comfort food. Everything else that others tried were equally enjoyed. Multiple beers to choose from; outdoor seating (weather permitting), quirky. Love it!!

Stopped into Milkboy for lunch after a nice bike ride around Kelly Drive. Sunday crowd was laid back and our waitress Krista offered plenty of good recommendations for both food and drink. Draught IPA was very good. Placed a food order and the order came out quick with great presentation, you can tell that the entire staff cares about your experience. We asked for some drink recommendations and we were not disappointed with our mixed drink or our bourbon! We did not venture upstairs where they host bands, perhaps another time but my first-time experience was a [very] good one and I'll definitely stop back

Great beers!!! Awesome food!!! Excellent spot, beautiful ambient!!! Perfect place to stop by for 1 and go!!!

Came here in late October to see a show in the upstairs venue. Arrived plenty early, so my buddy and I decided to gab a bite downstairs before the show. It was a very warm night for October, so the restaurant was open to the street, which is a great asset to the ambience. Menu is pretty small, but covers most of the bases. I had their chili, which came in a small crock. It was excellent - much better than I could have imagined. My buddy had a cheeseburger and was equally pleased. Our waitress couldn't have been nicer - very friendly, didn't rush us (even though they were busy and we weren't spending a ton of money on food). Excellent vibe, Football on the TV, and great people watching. Beer is very cold, and the selection is adequate. The only reason I don't give this a "top" rating is due to the upstairs music venue, which is the reason we were there. It is a nice intimate space; tiny really, but gets crowded very fast, as well as hot, despite the air conditioning. It would be great for an acoustic show, but the room layout doesn't lend itself nearly as well for loud rock, which we were there for. Not blaming the venue entirely - the band's sound crew probably could have backed the volume down a notch to prevent the bass resonance that kept ruining the sound, but it's definitely not a place for a band to crank the sound "up to 11" and expect decent results. Even the band seemed to be singing out of key pretty often, as they seemed to keep losing their pitch due to the distortion. However, this place would be great for a lower volume show. Long, narrow, and a bar in the back with a great bartender the night we were there. Decent beer selection, just like the downstairs area. Overall, a fun place, and I would return for another show.

We decided instead of taking a cab from our hotel the Hilton Garden Inn out that we would walk around and see if there was any decent places for food & craft beer. It couldnt have worked out any better. The fellas in our group all have different taste in beer from the cheap to beer snobs, we all were satisfied. They had bucket of 8oz bud lights which are usually hard to find and a long list of great craft bottles and drafts. The shandie menu also stood out catering to the craft beer cocktails sprouting up everywhere. We tried the wings which were spot on tasty & crispy. The bartenders were chill and had good recommendations for where we should head next. They could use a few more fans it became a little warm with doors open. Great place overall they also have a music venue & bar upstairs with live bands , but we had a good spot bellied up downstairs which was perfect for us. We look forward to going back on our next boys wknd in Philly.

Went there with 12 friends. They were very accommodating and our waitress was very cool. Beef jerky, bowl of bacon, and the Brussels sprouts were winners. Golden monkey beer was great.

Milky turned out to be a great place to stop and have lunch and a beer (or 3). The menu selection was great, we split an order of pork belly tacos and steak crostini. It was a perfect combination for a light lunch. The restaurant is located on a corner and allows for an opportunity to watch people going about their business. If you choose to eat outdoors, you can sit at table just outside of of the garage doors. The service was great, with outstanding recommendations for beer, making it a fun and relaxing lunch. I would walk out of my way to eat here again and try something else on the menu.

After an early morning flight followed by a day of taking in the historic sites we were ready for a “non hip” spot to enjoy a few libations. A friendly non-drinker construction worker told us how to find the Milkboy. It is a no frills tavern, a step up from a dive bar. We sat at the bar and watched the bartender make us excellent bourbon old fashions. We enjoyed talking with the friendly bartender, bar back and fellow tippler. The name of the bar comes from a recording studio of the same name. It is located across the street from the Thomas Jefferson Hospital and the bartender told us they get a lot of clientele after shift changes. It’s a good place for a relaxing drink and friendly conversation, despite the sign hanging behind the bar.

We stopped by Milkboy for lunch after my dad had surgery at nearby Jefferson hospital. The staff was welcoming and a pleasure to be around. I had a delicious shrimp po'boy and my wife had grilled cheese and tomato soup that was equally delicious. They have a great beer selection and a wide variety of menu items that made it difficult for me to decide just which of the items I wanted to try. Before we left our waitress even recommended another restaurant where they had great po'boys. I'll definitely be back!!

We were exploring Philly on foot and came by this place and immediately loved the décor. Had a few beers. Very friendly service. Great time.

Cool bar with open garage doors to the sidewalk-street across from the hospital. Classic bar scene with a decent draft selection. I didn’t eat, but the food looks delicious.

Stopped her for dinner one night, the food was really good and the service was great. Nice bar atmosphere, I would definitely stop here again next time we are in town.

Happened in this place and will be back again. Great beer selection and the bartenders are good. Cocktail list is well thought out and it's a locals hangout.

Quick visit with wife and daughter while in Philly. Great vibe, amazing bar and excellent bites. Great place to rest your feet, listen to excellent music, and have wonderful libations.

Stopped in for convenience and I'm glad I did. The menu, as well as the dining area I was in, was a little small. I asked if the had lemonade. They didn't, but mixed it up fresh for me. Right then my expectations shot up. I was not disappointed with my grilled chicken sandwich and side of red cabbage slaw. Both were quite tasty. The service was also excellent. Definitely recommended.

A long bar clothed in an amber light. You can sit at the counter, at tables or in booths. Had a very fine tasting beer (or five) called Sweaty Beaty. The place was buzzing throughout the night. The waiter was friendly and even bought us a pickleback (wikipedia says of this concoction: a type of shot wherein a shot of whiskey is chased by a shot of pickle brine) - nicer than it sounds. The Korean BBQ beef came in a french stick and kimchee - a combo that worked extremely well, especially when accompanied by spicy soy sauce. The hangover burger (should have had it the next day!) was good but far too small. Great night though!!

AWESOME! This food& service was on point. It's a seat yourself relaxing atmosphere with live bands& great food. I would recommend this place to anyone!!

We saw an indie rock band here, great atmosphere (glass garage doors instead of walls) & my draft cider was only $5 (but I'd been paying convention-center-area prices). If you're traveling to Philly, check out their website... We bought tickets for a band that we had never heard of & we were pretty pleased).

The downstairs was crazy busy @ 5 pm on a Wednesday so we "stay for eats before the show we were there to see. Very cozy venue upstairs. Only seats at a small bar and small stage which allowed us to be really "upclose" to band. Surprised two such awesome groups chose to play at such a small venue but sure glad they did. "Troutsteak Revival"

Group of 5 from UK made to feel very welcome. Bar staff were keen to have a laugh and turn the bar into a very welcoming place for us. We were only in Philly for 1 night ( a Sunday sadly) and was the only place that had anything going on, very glad we found it! Also got some food which was pretty decent.

The food was just ok (the noodle dish was disappointing as it was soupier than noodle-ly). Hamburger just ok. Nothing special here.

Nice place. Food was tasty. We had the hangover burger, fried pancakes, French toast, and beer donuts. All was very good. Fried pancakes were yummy as were the beer donuts. The service was slow but the server was very nice. It felt like they had only 1 cook. I would go again.

This spot has become a favorite when visiting Philly. We haven't had a bad meal yet. There is also a great beer and cocktail menu. In the evening they have live bands perform, but we have never stayed for that.

After a long distance walking and sightseeing i was ready to have a lunch and was searching for a quite good local place to eat. However from the outside it looks not so pretty and had a requiring the renovation facade, but inside was good enough, loft-looking atmosphere of the bar. Very friendly staff, who was ready to talk around for a while and a menu, good enough to find smth to eat, together with very nice coctail menu. Prices are just OK. I was satisfied fully, and may recommend that place located in the center of the city.

After leaving the Convention Center late, we were looking for something to eat and the hotel restaurant stopped serving food at 9:00. The concierge recommended Milkboy which was just a few blocks from the hotel. We sat outside and enjoyed a nice beer while eating a late dinner. The food was good and the service was great.

Arrived glad to be in from the constant rain. Looked nice from the outside. We took a seat and looked at the menu whilst being stared at by the server. His demeanour was incredibly rude, he had heard our accents, he asked for our IDs( we are both 29), and began lecturing my self and my partner, who had a uk driving license, on his own ignorance, and how he would be unable to tell if it was a fake, which was an incredibly accusatory statement in itself. He was hostile to us from the moment we stepped into the bar. It ruined our day, and this is our first and probably last time in Philadelphia. If you’re not from the states I would not recommend, the bad vibes don’t taste good with beer.

My bus and and I stopped here for a quick dinner. We wanted to sit inside and get out out of the heat. It is REALLY loud inside. The food was average. There was only one server for the whole restaurant. She did a great job.

I had a company event here. Food was pretty good. We had sliders that were delicious. Also the hummus was excellent. The staff as really nice and paid a lot of attention to our group. We had about 40 people in our group so we kept the staff busy.

We stopped here for a few drinks and some appetizers. Their cheese fries are really good and the beer selection is decent. Great venue for music too.

My wife and I were exploring our neighborhood on a Sunday afternoon and decided to drop in for some beer and appetizers. The beer selection is very good, bartender was very knowledgeable. The menu is eclectic, we opted for some kimchi and some pierogi with hot peppers. Everything was made to order and delicious. We stayed a while, made some friends and had fun.

Gotta love anyplace that sells whiskey shots with pickle backs and shots that are accompanied by beers. We didn't stay long but the staff was friendly and it looked like they had a pretty good selection of food (looked good on the menu).
Delish!
Split the sliders and watermelon frisee during lunch with a co-worker - both delicious! Garage doors were open on this nice summer day which made for great atmosphere. The beer list looked super interesting, but didn't get to sample as I was pregnant at the time.
