Crowded!

By Ash-a-lee55 |

I've been here for lunch 3 or 4 times. Every time I've been, it's been so crowded we could barely sit. Tables are crunched together, so that you feel uncomfortably close to your neighbors or the people in line. I've enjoyed the lunch buffet, but it's a little pricey at 12 bucks. They always have the same items on the buffet as well. I wish they change it up a bit sometimes. And I'm always sad there's no hummus on the buffet! The gyros are very popular, and that'll be your cheaper choice. Service has always been poor because of big crowds and not enough wait staff. While I appreciate the Greek music, it's too loud to even be able to chat with friends at your table.

Excellent (for San Antonio)

By Talktoyou |

We have eaten at M&D's for years and love their food. Our favorite is the Taste it All Combo. No one in San Antonio does Greek better.

Delicious Gyros

By JKDodge |

My husband placed a take out order over the phone by using the menu available on their website. Pick up was smooth. Our order was ready when we arrived. The drive home was 20+ minutes, and the food was still hot when we were ready to eat. We had the beef gyros and they were superb. The meat was so tender it melted in my mouth and each bite had the perfect amount of seasoning. The fries we're good, however I only had a couple before my three year old took over. The price per portion seemed very reasonable to me.

Best Greek west of the Mississippi

By mrpak5604 |

My wife and I have enjoyed this restaurant for almost 15 years. We moved from San Antonio for 6 years and recently moved back. Yesterday we had lunch there and it brought back some great memories. Many good times breaking plates and wine sipping....and oh did I forget to mention the food. Everything served is very authentic....having spent time in Greece and enjoying the food and culture first hand, I have to say, Demi definately delivers the goods. I would recommend anything on the menu....but I especially like the Dolmades and Gyro plate with oven potatoes. Its a small place but very entertaining. Enjoy!

Yummy yummy for my tummy

By 562tinamarie |

Never ever thought I would find a place like this in San Antonio, but I did and its good, The fries are Sooo good a must, the ice tea perfect, but the gyro yummy yummy for my Tummy...I'm going back for dessert next time. Who's in?

Best Feta Fries Ever

By Louis F |

The best feta fries I have ever had in my life. Really authentic food. They opened at 11 and I got there at 11:12 and there was already a line out the door. It moved quickly though.

Decent food

By RBTexas |

The service was excellent, the food fair. There is no hard liquor available here, no hummus, no babaganoush. The pita is some of the best I have had, the gyros were good. The baklava leaned toward the not so sweet, but tasty,

This place has great food. Go to lunch early or stand in line.

Mediocre at Best

By KarenS972 |

I had so hoped this would be my "go to" Greek restaurant based on reviews I've read. Nothing about it was appealing, other than our young server. The location is terrible, in a dated strip mall. The restaurant itself needs a "Restaurant Impossible" overhaul. The food has potential, however the place just feel dirty and grimy. Hard to get excited about the food when everything else was so negative. I lived in Greece, and I've never seen mozzarella cheese used in Greek cooking. I'm not one to give bad reviews, unless they're deserved. The service, on the other hand, was exceptional. Very friendly and professional servers, if a little rough around the edges. The service, only, would bring me back, and maybe the Greek coffee.

Great Greek cuisine

By mhg53 |

Went there for their buffet and it was excellent. Probably the best Greek food around. Don't let the exterior fool you. It's located in a run down strip mall. Once inside your palate will be delighted.

Thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and food

By drb8f8 |

Fantastic Mom and Pop run Greek Restaurant. Prices are very reasonable, portions are very large. The tyropita was fantastic and my pastitsio was very good. Service was fast and the waiters and kitchen staff very friendly.

The 2nd best Dolmades i've ever had

By abscess234 |

I have been to many Greek restaurants, and this is one of the best. We tried the Pasitisio, Gyro, Dolmades, and the Tyropita (cheese pie). The Dolmades were excellent, the best I've ever had at a restaurant (the Dolmades from the Greek Festival at the Greek Orthodox Church in Corpus Christi, Tx are the only ones I like better), The most unique foods for me were the Tyropita and the seasoned fries that came with the Gyro. The spices in both dishes were amazing!

Mina & Dimi's - Taste of Greece in San Antonio

By Jerold B |

Trip Advisor again delivers on an excellent recommendation in Mina's & Dimi's Greek House in San Antonio. We now know why this restaurant has such high Trip Advisor ratings and is a favorite restaurant among locals/personnel stationed at nearby Lackland Air Force Base. The food and service are excellent and make you feel as though you are in Greece. (My wife and I took a Greek cooking class on the island of Corfu in Greece, and Mina's & Dimi's food tastes similar.) We had the Hummus with Grilled Pita and Tzatziki Cucumber Sauce for appetizers, then the Mousska, Chicken Gyros Platter and Vegetarian Moussake for entrees, which were all great! So good in fact . . . that my son-in-law said our meal at Mina's & Dimi's finally broke the string of mediocre meals we recently had at other restaurants. Congratulations to Mina and Dimi on their fine restaurant and to Trip Advisor for once again steering us a great place to eat!

Great food, vibrant athmosphere

By Lukasz77 |

We had huge problem to get there becouse of stupid google GPS but when we looked around we found that place. Just park on a huge parking lot and read neons. Place was completely pack, vibrant atmosphere, food was delicious, we had combo plate. Staff was amazing, joking making our dinner funny. Far away from downtown but this place will stay for a long time in our memories.

2 platters on one plate more expensive than on 2 plates

By harrietjuh |

With 4 people we had 2 Hercules platters. The food was good and tasty. However, we were surprised to see that they charged us 65 dollars for a double platter instead of 2 times 29,99 for the 2 Hercules platters as we had ordered. The waiter had asked if he could serve the two platters on one plate and we didn't mind. We were not told that they would charge us 5 dollars extra. We thought we were making it easier for them, doing them a favor as their tables are really small and two plates would possibly take an additional table. And a double platter as it is called on our bill is not indicated on their menu. (see website) We are not people to make a fuss over 5 dollars, but to me it doesn't feel completely right, quite frankly.

Great food!!

By martinmom2014 |

One of our favorite places to eat!! Great food and atmosphere!! The staff is friendly and fun!! We love this place!!

Souvlaki! Opa!

By Daniela A |

Came for lunch and stayed longer because we were marveling over the food! Beef souvlaki was great, as well as the chicken souvlaki. Surprisingly, the fries we had were some of the freshest and best we've ever had. Our only regret is that we didn't have room for any of the amazing-looking dessert!

Excellent Healthy Food

By Sam D |

My companion and I went here for the first time. I was looking for a local mediterranean restaurant online. I found this one and a lot closer than I expected. We ordered our food to go. I was surprised at the fast service. When we got home the food was still warm. We started to eat our food and surprised again to find out that it is excellent healthy food. We sure are looking forward to going back again.!

As good as it gets...

By PhilD614 |

Very surprising!!!! This is a hole in the wall restaurant in the middle of no mans land in San Antonio. That being said the food is excellent for Greek cuisine and entertainment is surprising and outstandingly fun. We had the rack of lamb which is as good as it get and the sides ethnically accurate and very tasty. This outing was hosted by our son and his fiancee with invitation to my wife and I and the future inlaws...A great meeting place. Food is both family style and individually served in an informal atmosphere...dress code is low key and informal. Calamari is terrific, wine is very tasty and price competitive although my son picked up the tab and I don't really know. According to the menu, prices are reasonable and yes they are. the belly dancer entertainment is 5 ***** star...Absolutely fun...my wife got up and did a good novice rendition along with the dancer...bring a stack of $$$ for enhancing your experience. This is rated PG all the way. clientele bring children and family, so no worries. I would definitely go there again although the drive from Galveston was bit long!...

Must

I travel a lot and am always looking for the small family owned eatery and this is just the place. Good food and the service was great. Wished we would have stayed for the belly dancing.

What a great find

Best Greek Food In San Antonio

By Martin M |

I'm thrilled to reaffirm that this establishment remains my top choice for a getaway. The exceptional food, reasonable prices, impressive wine selection, and outstanding staff make it a true gem. Special shoutouts to Ms. Brandy and Adrianne, whose warm smiles and hospitality always make me feel welcome. Tonight's dinner was phenomenal, with the festive atmosphere putting me in the holiday spirit. Brandy even introduced me to a new dish that exceeded my expectations. Kudos to this outstanding establishment and its dedicated team for consistently making customers feel like family!

Incredible food and always inviting environment

By Travelingcoloratura |

Mina and Dimi's is hands down my favorite restaurant in San Antonio. The food is amazing and freshly prepared. The dishes stick close to their Greek roots and a diverse selection of wines from around the globe are available to find a perfect match to go with your dinner. Make sure to save room for dessert as they are just as scrumptious as the appetizers and entrees. A Greek coffee is a perfect partner to go with that dessert. My favorite thing about Mina & Dimi's are the owners and the people who work there. They greet you warmly and immediately make the customer part of the family. This is one of the few restaurants that still takes the time to get to know their customer by face, name, and cuisine/beverage tastes. The team certainly takes pride in delivering an outstanding dining experience in addition to serving excellent food. They happily educate customers on dishes and wine they serve. Once they get to know you, they readily make recommendations about wines, pairings, or specialty dishes being offered for a limited time. The Wine Tastings hosted by the restaurant are an experience not to be missed. Each wine sampled is accompanied by flavorful food. Belly dancing, the Zorba, and the occasional plate breaking add to the fun of the evening.

Great food, family run, and belly dancing.

By Castrolandia |

Break the San Antonio taco mold and head out near Lackland Air Force Base and experience real greek food in a great atmosphere. Don't let the run down strip center scare you away. Belly dancing on the weekends.

Very Good Greek

By Billy C |

There was a wider variety of Mediterranean food in San Antonio than we expected. We chose Mina & Dimi's based on other Tripadvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. We had the Pastitsio and an order of Dolma. They were both very good. You order at the counter and the food is brought to the table. The service was quick and they frequently checked to see if the food was good or to see if you needed refills on your drinks. The workers were very friendly and helpful.

Get your Greek On!

By J C |

Simply, outstanding. The pita bread was made fresh as well as the sauces and dressings - as good or better as I have had in the best Greek places in DC, Seattle, and Denver. Reminded me of places in Athens - small, warm, decorated walls, great homemade food. All your senses and cravings for great greek food will be well satisfied here. Location could be better but we'll worth the drive.

The Best Greek

By angella228 |

They treat us like family. Many of us come from the local AFB and always eat here. The food is wonderful!!!!!!!!!! The weekend belli dancers are so much fun. You can't leave San Antonio without coming here. Angella

San Antonio gem!

By Lillith63 |

We went for dinner on the recommendation of a Greek friend. From the outside you will not be impressed. It is in a nondescript strip mall not in the best part of town ( just outside Lackland AFB on 90 access road). But don't be fooled! Once you are inside you immediately are received with the warm hospitality of a Greek home. The service was first rate. Out waiter brought out and opened several bottles of wine so we could try them before making our choice. He was warm and had a great sense of humor as well as the owner, Dimi, who sat down with us for a bit and chatted and made the evening feel very special. The food was amazing all around. We had 4 different appetizers, 5 entres, 3 deserts. Everything was absolutely delicious!! This restaurant is such a breath of fresh air and a nice change from the Mexican fare which is so common here. I hear it is also a great place for lunch. You will not be disappointed!

Great Greek... Opa!

By moore_sd |

Some of the best greek food we've ever had. Crowded and lively... Belly dancer is very talented. I can see why this is #14 on a list of over 4,000 restaurants in San Antonio. A must go on my list.

A+ appetizer to dessert

By RockeRoanoke |

The Saganaki Appetizer was a great (Flaming) start. Hercules platter and the gyro & tenderloin steak daily special were large and outstanding! We also enjoyed Feta & olives, gyro platter, falafel and dolmade. We finished with 3 great desserts. Everything was excellent and our waiter was fun and efficient.

Consistently Good

By SABoy |

My wife and I eat here about once every two weeks. This is the only restaurant we have ever been to where the food is always consistently good. I have never had a bad experience here. On Fridays and Saturdays there is usually a belly dancer working. Our evenings there are always fun here. We enjoy the entertainment and the best Greek food in San Antonio. The place reminds me of a place you would find in Greece, where the owner checks on all of the tables and the food is always fresh.

Great food. Friendly service

By Ruth H |

Love this restaurant. The food is really good and the service is friendly. Enjoyed a great lunch, the best dill sauce, and nice selection of true Greek dishes.

An AMAZING Experience

By AuntChasie |

My girlfriend took me to lunch at her favorite little haunt. I'm not an adventurous eater and hadn't really had Greek cuisine. Posted proudly on the window was a report from the health department with 100% Compliance! SOLD! Let me tell you...if you ever want authentic Greek, exquisitely prepared and mouth watering, this is your place! There was a freshness in the quality that was evident in the taste. I had the buffet! The Chef is so much fun and you can taste her love of cooking and creating in her food. The simplest potatoe bursts with fresh flavors! The wine! Fantastic! And never ending! Lol The staff of courteous, well trained and out to make your experience fun and exciting!

Must Eat!!!!!

By Jamie R |

We travel all over the US for work and we stumbled across Mina & Dimi’s...... what a find!!!!!! Outstanding food, first class service. We drove 30 min each way to make a return trip! Alex provides the best customer service ad really knows what to suggest from the menu! We will make this a must for all future visits to the San Antonio area. I can not express how much we fell in love with this place!!!!!

Wonderful Dolmades

By Illusionsphotog |

Two of us ate here on a girls weekend and the food was great. Service was good. We had an appetizer of stuffed grape leaves and olives and moussaka and pastitsio for our entrees. The owner recommended a fabulous dessert called a Texas Longhorn. Everthing we got was excellent, freshly prepared and flavorful. We loved it!

Get together for family & friends

The food was amazing, everything we had was great! The best of all was the owner, extremely generous, hospitable and genuine. Have been back since and will continue to.

A Greek Gem

By SewardLawyer |

My wife and I love Greek food and seek it out often while traveling. With the caveat that we've never been to Greece, hands down, this was the best Greek food we've ever had - something we didn't expect to find in San Antonio. The staff was incredibly friendly, service was prompt and courteous, and the prices very fair. The highlight, though, was the flavor and freshness of our food - the Dolmathes, gyros, Greek salad, pita bread - all were exceptional. We didn't try the desserts - it was lunch - but they looked fantastic. By all means, get Tex Mex and BBQ while you're in San Antonio, but do yourself a favor and enjoy a great Greek meal as well. You'll be glad you did!

Hidden Gem! Great Food!

By TravelRUSA |

This is tucked away in an old strip mall near Lackland AFB, and not easily visible from the highway, but it is worth looking for! Everything on the menu is excellent! The prices are amazingly reasonable for dinner - A little on the high side for lunch but worth every penny.

Exceptional

By Daniel N |

Really great Greek food!! Went back a couple times while working in the area and everything that I tried was exceptional. Really friendly people who work there.

MUST GO !!!

By Herman02 |

Hands down one of the best Greek places I have been to! I do not think you could fail NOT to get something really good! They offer a full line of Greek foods, drinks, and desserts.... This place rocks.... Please, please, please, if you want great Greek food and your in the San Antonio area, do everything you can to partake of this place. Nothing fancy, and the strip mall is iffy.... but, you will not be disappointed.... promise!!

Casseroles and live dancing

By Mariah S |

I would not return for the food, but I might go back for a drink, dessert, and some nice music and belly dancing. My date and I ordered two separate dishes. Both of our two different entrees were presented to us as firm casserole cubes, about 4" x 4" slices. I expected the gravy the waiter described to be less of a solid layer. I scraped that layer off. My salad had a lot of spiny portions of the lettuce and little if no dressing or much else. I still had a good time because the belly dancer has a beautiful smile and she and our alcoholic beverages reminded us how to relax and really enjoy a date night. Our waiter was excellent, too. They have lots of interesting desserts to choose from.

Looks are very deceiving

By J. McKeever |

When you find the place and go in for a meal you really wonder what you stepped into but I will tell you that we were taken there by locals who we were visiting on business. We were greeted by the owner who was a perfect fit for the place. He answer my questions as to what the low down on the menu lingo was and from there it was simply a great tasting lunch we had the pleasure of sitting down for.

My favorite lunch away from the office.

By kate2004rock |

Great Friday buffet at lunch!! It's always packed... Nothing special, very unassuming. But pretty delicious!

Definitely worth the trip...

By amastronardi |

This experience was wonderful..the food was terrific...excellent..and a perfect portion. The staff was very friendly and helpful...if you like Greek food or just want something different..you won't be sorry. This was our first visit and definitely not our last...

Air Force Graduation

By Michelle B |

I enjoyed the lamb shank. The environment was pleasant. My husband and sister enjoyed the beef and chicken.

Great atmosphere, delicious food!

By kayrock65 |

While in San Antonio to attend graduation at Lackland, we made a point to visit after receiving a recommendation from an AF veteran in Tennessee. Delicious food, fun atmosphere. Serving staff were wonderful and attentive. Restaurant owners were fun and gracious. Dimi served us personally and his joy for life was contagious. Food was very good... specials looked wonderful but I stuck with gyro platter as I just like the gyro meat so much...wine and a shared dessert finished us off... belly dancer was fun to watch.

Who would have thought

By regluke |

When I was first told that some of the best greek food I would ever have is outside Lackland AFB, I was very skeptical. A group of 8 of us went on a Friday night. When we arrived, I was very impressed. The dining area is very cozy and has a feel like you're eating in someone's house. The waiter let us try a few different wines before we decided on one, all were good. Their wine selection was top notch. The salad was absolutely amazing. Also tried the spanakopita, for an appetizer, everyone at the table agreed it was some of the best they ever had. After some debate I decided to try the gyro, because any good Greek place should be able to make a gyro. Hands down one of the best I've ever eaten. Other people tried the lamb shank and lamb chops, not one person was let down. Make sure you also try one of the desserts with the Greek coffee. Can't wait to go back.

Superb food but small space

By norajill w |

The food was amazing, and I love Greek food. Also, plentiful portions, and the Friday buffet is really wonderful and priced so young Airmen can afford to eat there. The servers really hustle and it's a busy place, with table space at a premium.

Don't Judge a Book by it's cover

By Michelle B |

Exhausted and famished after Sea World. We wanted REAL food. The shopping center is old and half empty, the FOOD is great! Many dishes beyond the standard fare. Flaming cheese app was fantastic, and BONUS belly dancer VALERIE. featured two desserts I had never heard of (offered 8 types of sweets) plus excellent coffee.

Excellent food, desserts too. Ate there twice in a 3 day stay.

By JMblowingbubbles |

If you’re looking for Greek fare, you will not be disappointed! My husband & I ate here for dinner on a Thursday night and then returned for lunch on Saturday bringing our relatives also in town for AFB graduation with before heading back home. Yes, it was that good! All 8 of us enjoyed our food, including 3 kiddos ages 6, 5 & 2.

Perfect Greek Cuisine

By Ferozzorro |

Always exceptional service with a smile and the best Greek in San Antonio! The food was amazing with all the right authentic flavors. Friday night was perfect with the added ambiance of a belly dancer to make it all feel more authentic. Most come again.

What's not to like here

By Tom078 |

We stopped into Mina & Dimi's on the way to a San Antonio Missions' baseball game. Let's just say it's not in an upscale location. The restaurant is located in a tired-looking strip mall filled with gun shops and tattoo parlors. It's certainly not fancy inside. But when we went it was packed. A party of 30 had reserved space which made it even more crowded. I'm not sure which was better: the service or the food. I'm going to say the service. It was totally fun and informal. The waiters joke and kid and are full of personality. I ordered a glass of wine and the waiter simply set the bottle on the counter behind us and said: "Help yourself. I expect you to finish it." When we went to pay they asked how many glasses of wine I had. Three I think. The gyros were very tasty and moist. My wife had a Greek salad she simply loved. We had stuffed grape leaves which were very good. The hummus and pita was good. The prices are reasonable. Good food, good service and good prices equal a crowded restaurant. It's the kind of place where you leave with a smile on your face. Mina's & Dimi's is the definition of a family-run, hole-in-the-wall. Everyone was having a good time.

Good Service dissapointing food

By Robert G |

We decided to drive across town to try this restaurant from mention in a local newsletter and the reviews on line. It was a Saturday night and the parking area was crowded and they were busy. It is not easy to find even if you have good directions, it is a small area in a shopping center back from the freeway access road and the area around the center is not the most attractive area of town. Once we found the restaurant we spent a few moments discussing if we wanted to continue but since we had driven across town to try this we went ahead and entered. We were greeted and seated in a very small uncomfortable table in a corner and the wait staff was very attentive. Our appetizer and wine was served promptly and they took our order promptly. We just returned last month from Athens and we were expecting a dinner with Greek taste. The meal served was disappointing the food had no distinctive taste neither the Chicken or the fried Squid had any taste that we would comment on. The potatoes and salad were nothing to rave about. The meal was disappointing but the service was good. There are many good Mediterranean restaurants in San Antonio. I will not take the trouble to drive across town to return here.

Well worth trying

By Rancher280 |

I've eaten here occasionally for many years, and have always enjoyed the food. Lately, though, it has gotten too expensive for me. If you're on an expense account (or own a diamond mine), give them a try.

Great flavors in a shady neighborhood

By SRushing79106 |

To drive to this restaurant it is in a less than upscale neighborhood, however don't let the surroundings fool you. This place is wonderful. All the meat we tried was flavorful and tender. Th desserts all looked amazing. Overall, come eat here!! You won't be disappointed.

Get the gyro

By redAzleTX |

Finding this place was challenging. We actually found the sketchy strip mall easily.. But then we couldn't find the restaurant. It was a very dark night and they didn't have their open sign or their main sign lit up. Anyway.. It was about 100 feet down from Dollar Store. The gyro meat was delicious. My husband had the fried squid. It was a disappointment. It was salty and very one note-fried batter with no squid taste... Bummer. We had baklava for dessert. They gave us a steak knife and cinnamon sticks to grate onto the baklava.. Nice touch. Baklava was bit tough, but tasty. If you go get the gyro. We probably wouldn't go again. It was too far from the Riverwalk area, driving some challenging highways that only the locals know which lane to be in..lol. Even WAYZ, our GPS was having a hard time keeping up with the lane we needed to be in. If you are a local on the west side, I would give this place a try.

I've not been a fan of Greek food until now!

By LMG |

I couldn't stop eating! The food was so good!! The Gyro meat was so tender and flavorful as was the salad, potatoes and other sides! I'm hooked!!

Quick Dinner

Nice place near Lackland AFB. In a hole in the wall shopping complex that is a little run down. Food is great. Small family restaurant. Would definitely recommend.

Upgrade your fries to the awesome Feta Fries - trust me!

By Brenda S |

We were heading back to Houston on Christmas Eve and I was trying to figure out what to do about lunch and then remembered that Mina & Dimi’s is only 10 minutes from my parents retirement community (Blue Sky). I called and they confirmed they were open at 11am. Woo hoo! I called the other family members and 11 of us met there. Everyone loved it and said that they were glad I had suggested the restaurant. The service was great, the staff were friendly, the prices were inexpensive (compared to Houston), and most importantly - the food was delicious. My family ordered a mix of gyro’s ($5.99 with fries), deluxe gyro’s (in additional to the normal gyro items, they also have feta and lettuce, $5.99 with fries), and Fat Gyros (have more meat, $7.99 with fries). You can also pay $1.75 to upgrade your seasoned fries to Feta Fries — which I highly recommend if you like feta and garlic. So delicious! One of our sons got the Gyro Platter which was $13.99 — this was probably our only mistake. It came with salad, which he doesn’t eat, plus he only ate some of the fries. It would have been much cheaper if he just ordered the Fat Gyro. Fortunately, my parents took all of his leftovers home. It is also easy to split the check as you go up to the counter afterwards, tell them your table / what you ordered, and pay via iPad. Even with a generous tip, our total bill for 6 people was only $73.

so glad to have found a great greek place!!

By lorrie221 |

we had lunch there and the food was fabulous! it's just a little place in a strip mall - but definitely worth looking for! [btw - google sent us to 3 different places and NOT one of them was the restaurant - so, if you get in the vicinity - call them for directions] the service was excellent! they have wine-tasting events on the weekends [which you need to make reservations for] and belly dancers!

How do I love thee, let me count the ways...

By Gayla C |

Our first trip to Mina & Dimi's after hearing so much good for so long did not disappoint. The authentic homemade Greek dishes are amazing--nothing out of a can here--and the service is warm and personal. Love the old-world feel of the place. Yes, it's in a strip center, but that just kind of adds to its charm! Had many interactions with the owner, even down to personally lighting our Flaming Saganaki. We will be back many, many times to this hidden gem!

Don't miss this place!

By TexTraveler1 |

Friends in Washington had told me that when I came to San Antonio on a business trip, I shouldn't miss Mina & Demi's. My friends were completely right! Waaaaay out of downtown near Lackland AFB in a rundown shopping center, it offers some of the best Greek food in the country. I started the meal with the Tzatziki with cucumber sauce meze. The main course was the classic Greek comfort food, moussaka - seasoned potatoes, eggplant, zucchini, seasoned ground beef topped with a bechamel sauce. Accompanied by a white Kouros wine - it was a totally wonderful, but unexpected meal that was very reasonably priced. Funky, fun and wonderful food.

Wonderful Greek Food

By gpbvkb |

Son ordered take-out from here. Everything was wonderful and tasty. Grub-hub was the delivery service, and they were quick. We will order from them sometime in the future.

Simply the best so far!

By Quentin A |

My family of 6 has been on vacation here in San Antonio for the past 3 days. We've tried a few different restaurants but I really think we enjoyed Mina & Dimi's the most! Now let me just say that it doesn't look like much from the outside. It's in a strip center that's a bit on the seedy side. The environment once you're inside though can only be described as... Opa! As soon as we walked in the door the gentleman who would soon be our waiter dropped a bottle of wine and everyone in the place yelled Opa! This place is fun and friendly... Warm and inviting. We found ourselves interacting with other tables which I've never really done! Oh and the belly dancer! Once my kids got past the initial awkwardness they all took turns dancing with her and they had a blast! The food was amazing! Best hummus we've ever tasted. None of my family had ever eaten Greek food so we played it safe. Most of us had gyros but my daughter tried a pasta dish and everyone was happy with their food. Delicious and filling! Between the environment and food this place has a really good formula for making happy customers!

Prices up, quality down

By Sataviolet |

Chicken was rolled not fresh, 1 large sliced potato (small serving) tiny side salad with one paper thin small slice of tomato. One piece of onion 2" long. Taste way down,,quality down, prices up. Have been going here for many years, will look for another Greek restaurant. Am sad. This was a stable great place at one time. Changed for the worst. ;-(

An Interesting Alternative

By DrMarc9491 |

After a full day of workshops, I decided to head out for dinner. I searched online for the best restaurants located in the area and Mina & Dimi’s was listed at #7. Not one who knows much about Greek food I thought I would give it a try. The restaurant itself is in a hard to find location and if you do not know the area you could get frustrated attempting to find it. I called the restaurant 3 times for directions and each time the staff was extremely polite and helpful. Upon arriving at the strip mall that the restaurant sits in, I almost did not go in due to the outside appearance. I did have second thoughts but said, “Hey, I’m here”. Upon entering I was delight with the interior for it had its own flair and personality. The staff was polite and very helpful in guiding me in meal selection. My meal was served quickly, was hot and tasty and the price was very reasonable. The dessert case was full with fresh items. Over all the experience was good and will be going back the next time I’m in San Antonio. Dr. Marc. PS 63:7

My Fat Greek Food FEST

By Patrice C |

The food is great! The waiter was very helpful and friendly. Started with a demitasse of Sweet Greek Coffee...honey. Then a Village Salad...feta cheese, olives, cucumber, onion and tomato tossed in olive oil and herbs. Grape leaves wrapped meat and herbs tossed in olive oil. Baklava ended the meal. Friday and Saturday nights include Belly Dancers. Closed on Sundays.

Great place

By Charles S |

Food was great and service was fast even though the place was packed. Only problem was the A/C was going full bast and it was only about 50 out side.

Great Greek food

By Jason R |

This place has been around for quite a while and once you eat there, you'll understand why. The service is always great no matter how busy they are and the owner is never too busy to pop out of the kitchen to say hi. On certain nights, they have belly dancers dancing through the dining areas while you eat. It's a place you must try if you're on the west side of San Antonio.

Great Place!

By WildHaireAdventures |

Great little place for Greek food. Eaten here many times and love the gyros! Big portions and good service. It can get a little crowded at times but that's a good sign! Will be back!

Lunch for four

By Chuck B |

The first thing you notice is small and crowded. I've eaten quite a lot of Greek food in my time living in NY. This place does a good job handling the volume they get. Line moved and the food came fast. I went with safe. Gyro and fries. The food was ok but certainly not what I'd expected with the amount of people that were still here at 2pm. The pita could be grilled and that would improve the sandwich alot. Good vs really good. Go the extra mile. IMHO. Everyone was quite pleasant. I'm sure they were tired but all smiles and taking care of business. I'd come again if I had lots of extra money and time. All and all a good but not great experience..

Loved the food and service

By Kairat B |

My gyros combo was yummy! 5 out of 5! Service was quick, there was even dance performance at the end of the day. Loved the atmosphere of a family cafe!

Just ok

By Vanaiden |

The day we visited this restaurant, the air conditioner was broken and they were out of soft drinks. Based on the raving we had to try it out, regardless. Let's just say the food and atmosphere was a huge disappointment!

Great place near Lackland

By Bret W |

Excellent food and people! They have been here for a long time and you can see why. Highly recommend!

delicious food

By Monica B |

Amazing food! The amount they give you is ridiculous. It's so much. But the food is outstanding. would go back.

Lousy location - so what!!!

By Becker1 |

Been here 4 times and very time it was excellent. Run down strip mall so easy to miss. If I had not heard such good things I would not have gone there as a single woman alone. Small and crowded so go early. Wait staff is awesome. When I asked about wine he brought me 4 bottles and offered me a taste from each so I could decide. How often does that happen??? Dont miss this one.

Amazing Greek Food!

By NanaGourmet |

When you park your vehicle in the lot of this old strip mall you are really not expecting to walk into a different world when you pass through the front door out of this restaurant - but that is exactly what happens! We had the lamb chops, and they were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious! The tatziki is spot-on. Just the way it should be, thick and flavorful! The salad was amazingly fresh, every last piece of lettuce, tomato, onion, just wonderful! The Greek coffee is some of the best I have ever had! If you're in the area, this is a must-try! The staff is absolutely wonderful! For something different, but absolutely fabulous, get The Baklava cheesecake, you will not be disappointed!

Greek is great!

Awesome food, great atmosphere and the host is hilarious!! We love this place! The deluxe Gyro is my favorite with the hummus appetizer. A large assortment of Greek wines and Beer.

Best Greek outside of Greece

By Seamus |

Don't let the neighborhood or the exterior of the building fool you. The owner, Dimi, is from Athens and has brought the taste of his homeland to San Antonio, of all places. The food is excellent and there is always plenty of it. The service is polite, fun and fast. Usually Dimi is there to help out and visit with his customers. They usually carry at least one greek beer and a large variety of good wines. The Taste It All is the best way to get the full scope of what the restaurant offers. On the weekends they have belly dancers and music. Mina and Dimi's is one of my favorite places in San Antonio. Whether you live here or are just passing through this is a great place to stop.

The Real Deal!

By Rosanna G |

Have been going there for years! Great food and service. It is extremely clean as well! Always an A+ in our book!

Good Greek Food

By Scott M |

This place was really good. I had the gyro plate both times I went. The food was good, the service was good and it was a really nice atmosphere for lunch. I thought it was reasonably priced. I totally recommend this restaurant

Wonderful Greek Lunch Spot

By Jim K |

Wow, taste of home ... a little of a challenge to get to but quick and excellent food. Not cheap but not fast food either. All made from scratch... leave room for HUGE desserts!

Perfect!

Absolutely wonderful! My daughter graduated from BMT and we went for lunch. Brandy and her team took great care of us, the food was amazing and the atmosphere was very welcoming. I can’t say enough about what a great experience we had!

My favorite

By lisadavidkohler |

This place never disappoints. Consistent and delicious. Best gyros. Always great score on health inspection. Yummy and fun time

Food is not very good

By Matthew B |

The food is on par with that you might get from the Greek restaurant in a food court, but more expensive. Not bad, not particularly good. The food comes out cold or luke-warm at best, most of it is obviously prepared before hand and then warmed in the microwave. As everyone mentioned, the service is not particularly good either, which wouldn't be a problem if the food was good. Maybe I got unlucky, but I see no reason to go back.

Too busy to be that small

By Ktb7467 |

The tables are far too close together and the gentleman at the register was pleasant but too busy to answer questions. The menu overhead isn't much help without descriptions. For someone who isn't well versed in Greek food this place does NOT cater to you. Order something and get out of the way. The food was on par with the few other places I've been, to include chains. Then again I could've just ordered the wrong thing.

Best Greek in sa

By Pratik P |

Been going here for the last 5 years, food Is always great, and service is exciting. Festive fun atmosphere with great food!

Loved it!

By Papiomary |

A friend recommended and it was really great. The Hercules is enough for 3, but leftovers are fine! The flaming cheese is so rich, but solo good!!!

Great place! Loved it!

By Matt L |

Food and service was excellent! So glad I stopped in. Had the fat gyro with feta fries. It was delicious! Will be going again soon and trying something different. Lots to choose from.

Authentic Greek food

By Jana M |

I shared a variety platter that had a little of most everything and it was all SO good! This was my first visit to a Greek restaurant and I can’t wait to return. Everything was fresh, the staff friendly and the serving large. We also shared a gyro which was overflowing with meat. We asked for a to-go box to bring home the leftover cheese, olives, and gyro. The dessert selection is more than just baklava (which looked delicious). I took home a piece of chocolate cake with mousse and cream cheese filling. Delectable! Hidden gem in a strip mall - highly recommended eatery for lunch or dinner (closed Sundays).

Friendly staff... great food!!!

By William H |

You will not find a friendlier staff at any restaurant in San Antonio. They treat you like family, not customers. The food is also great. Many of the dishes remind me of my time in Greece as a child. I have never had a bad experience at M&D!!!

Wow!

By FandangoCharlie |

Dimi (the owner) made us feel like long, lost friends. He sat and talked with us and don't get me started on the quality of food. Fantastic Greek food! The Mythos beer was amazing, too. This is a must if you're in San Antonio.

Big Portions of Excellent Greek Food

By DANNY L |

We love coming to this Greek restaurant near Lackland AFB. Big portions of always-excellent Greek food. They typically have a perfect score on their Health Inspection. The staff is very friendly. We always feel at home there. Do yourself a favor and visit this restaurant. You will return many times.

It's perfection lies in it's imperfection

By Ken T |

OK - it's not necessarily an establishment you would expect to get a 4 + star rating. It's not in the center of the city - or in the center of much for that matter. It's located in a strip mall that is frankly a bit sketchy in some ways. It was very crowded with basically no real lobby or waiting area. And it's greek beers and wines were good tho not great. But the people . . . oh and the food . . . really made the difference. So much so that you really forgot about the imperfections and chalked them up to quaint charm. As I said, it was crowded when we arrived. But the hostess that greeted us quickly found a small table. She had to go through some heroics - including hefting a couple of chairs over and around an alluring belly dancer that was sharing the aisles. But within 3 minutes we were seated. She even apologized for the delay - which of course is crazy because she was awesome! While we were ordering we probably had at least 3 various staff persons asking us if we were OK. One I believe was the bus boy. I mean who trains a bus boy to care about the customer like that? It was really impressive - and continued through our experience. We opted to try some greek beer and wine - despite a rather large selection of more standard and a few non standard options. But when in Athens . . . While I can't say I was impressed - they were very good and I would probably order them again just because we were transported to Greece. We tried a spanakopita appetizer. So much better than the store bought ones (though we did learn an interesting fact - the dill cream is made with chicken broth so it's not great for either vegetarians or kosher diets). We then both had the specials - a lamb shank and a small filet bedded on gyros meat and veggies. Both were delicious. Well technically I have to take the word of my travelling companion on the filet special since he gobbled it up with out the decency to offer a bite. At times a belly dancer charmed the diners with her alluring dance. She even got a couple of children involved - attempting to teach them a few steps. She did avoid my attempts to join the dancing action - which in hindsight is probably for the best as I'm a 50 ish year old man who's participation would have both been awkward and frankly a bit creepy. Best to keep the dancing with the kids. Service was quick - and if I have any regrets it was perhaps too quick for soon we were on our way out of the noisy, crowded but thoroughly enjoyable experience and into the hot San Antonio evening.

I can't get this at home!

By gtonic63 |

Outstanding. The service was great and personable. Makes you feel welcome. The dolmades were very good with an excellent sauce. Greek salad had a nice taste and the olives were pitted, bless them. You get two plates with the lamb combo platter. One with perfect potatoes, tomato, onion, lemons (squeeze this on your meat) pita and tzatziki (wow, much better than mine). The other plate was a heated cast iron platter with more onion, tomatoes, etc. and lamb kabobs, lamb chops and gyro meat. I did more damage than I should have and still have breakfast for tomorrow. All of this washed down with a nice Greek lager. Dessert? Baklava cheesecake. Yep. Tastes as good at it sounds. Unsweetened Greek coffee rounded out the dessert. I just wish I lived closer!

truly Greek

By Charles B |

Haven't been here for a few years and sorry I hadn't. Finally returned as a guest with son-in-law and had one of my best evenings out in some time. Food is awesome; talented belly dancer was not only fun to watch but fun to chat with with also. Great people all. Wont wait so long between visits.

Authentic and delicious!

The gyro's are delicious...baklava....order the Goliath and you get to sample a variety including kabobs...friendly....belly dancing on Friday nights....groupon available...very authentic.

Great service good food. Server was amazing, very personable. Food was OK. I enjoyed my gyro, Flaming Saganaki seemed small and the chicken on a stick was OK.

Rough area

By Tuco R |

If your going to drive all the way down there to eat, you might want to know it’s a pretty sketchy area. Too many homeless people wandering around to bring your kids there.

Some of the best Greek food I've tried

By terrysteimle |

The restaurant is fairly small and in a strip mall. That's the bad news. The good news is it's right off US HWY 90 not far from Lackland AFB. My wife and I are new to San Antonio and still living in a hotel so we were looking for dinner that didn't involve Mexican or the base food courts. This restaurant is now our go-to for Greek food in San Antonio. The restaurant is family owned and the owner we talked to said the place has been open for 21 years. That should tell you something right there. The decor is whimsical and many restaurant reviews are posted on the walls. We asked the owner what she recommended and was refreshingly honest when I inquired about other menu choices. My wife had the moussaka which she said was amazing. I had the special which was a roasted chicken breast in a greek tomato sauce with potato and side salad as well as calamari appetizer. The food was out quickly and the portion sizes were huge. The piece I had still had the ribs attached which I did not mind but the breast itself was enormous. And the taste was amazing. The wife and I defied our stomachs and went for desserts which did not disappoint. When we first got to the restaurant we were the only ones there but the place quickly filled once people got off work over at Lackland. The prices were fairly reasonable as well. My wife and I will be back and next time will be bringing friends with us.

Greekin' Excellent

By foodie758 |

Waaay out of the way, but once you get there you're glad you did. The lamb chops are top notch and you can even break your plate! The gyros are good too. The stuffed grape leaves were tasty and light. Did I mention you can break your plate! If you like Greek food this is the best in town that I have found.

Very Good

By Tammy T |

I ordered the gyro. It has a great flavor. The pita bread was very fresh. I would visit this place if I am ever in the area again.

Amazing Gyros

By enurweb |

I've tasted quite a few gyros in my life and the ones the serve here is just great. Restaurant is a little small but cozy. A beautifull woman named Karen also held a suprise dance shoe while we were eating. Can't beat that :-)

Went for lunch and LOVED it!

By Amyandshaun |

Went for lunch and LOVED it! I thought it would take a while to get our food because they were very busy but we waited less than 10 minutes. I had the gyro combo! The meat was so tender and very flavorful. Loved the salad and fries also. We will definitely be visiting again!

Excellent small family food

By P S |

This place is a gem. It's been in its current location for about 20 years. It can be hard to find from google maps, but is located in an old shopping center just off HWY 90 access road... I think at military drive. It is the same exit as the Air Force base. Appetizer was the Greek cucumber sauce.... Tzatziki (sp?) which came with warm pita bread. It was good with chunks of onion and cucumber. I has a gyro plate with potatoes and a Greek salad. The potatoes were tangy with a slightly crispy skin and firm Interior. My wife had the vege moussaka which I liked, but she did not care for. She did like the sides (salad and tzaziki again). My daughter had a falafel sandwich which she really liked... Though I'm no fan of falafel. She finished everything which is a little unusual. The price was very reasonable about $40 for the three of us. This is not a very attractive place from the outside... But is excellent food with a comfortable, fun ambiance. We were able to talk to the waiter for a while... He was only about the third in 20+ years. The restaurant was started by a mother and son I think and is now run by the son and his wife.

Great Food, Service and Entertainment

By pincher2015 |

Our daughter took us to Mina and Dimi's for supper on Friday. The restaurant is small but the atmosphere is great. We had an excellent waiter looking after us, very polite and quick service. While dining a belly dancer kept us entertained. Would definitely return next time we visit San Antonio.

We requested low salt... Not so easy in Greek food and got it!!!! Outstanding food!

Great food and friendly staff!

By sonjakay13 |

We were in town for our son's graduation from USAF BMT and decided to try this restaurant. The atmosphere is friendly and casual and the food was great! We enjoyed it so much we had to go back and take more of the family. We went twice in three days! Wonderful place!

We stumbled across this restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. Such terrific greek food! We were stuffed upon leaving!

Excllent Greek Food

By BluePlate-Now |

Went here for lunch with a small group, first time for most in the group. We all enjoyed it! Food was excellent, service was fast and the wait staff was engaged with the customers. A good sign was that the place was very busy at lunch but everything was working smoothly. Although the old strip mall that it is in may make you wonder about going. Just Go for it as it will be worth your while. All the food was hot, fresh and tasty! I will be back! Go and enjoy!

Service is exceptional and staff are very friendly. Can't wait for another trip to San Antonia so we can dine here again. We have eaten at many Greek places across the country so we know this is the real deal. Opa!

Strip Mall Surprise

By billb1959 |

Passing through San Antonio today and checked TA for a Greek restaurant. Once again, TA came through! Mina & Dimi's is Very Good! Located in a strip mall, this small, friendly restaurant has some great Greek food. We had the fried calamari as an appetizer.......good but forgettable. I had the gyro, souvlaki combo plate. More than enough food. The gyro meat is very good, the beef kebab tender and tasty. Pitas are fresh.......tzatziki sauce very good. Also had the house Greek salad........very good. My wife had the meze (appetizer) sampler as her entree. The dolmades are fantastic! The spanakopita and tyropita are both vey good. Fresh feta, pita, kalamata olives, fried okra and potato wedges rounded out the plate. Service was terrific and friendly. We would eat here again if in the area.

Greek done right

By Scampbell7398 |

Go for the charm of a small family owned place- it was our first time there & the owner came to our table and greeted us. Go for the excellent food - the combo appetizer platter is big enough to feed 2 as a meal if you add a salad. Go for the friendly & attentive servers - it was Valentine's night and the servers were on it, even greeting many customers by name and taking care of a fully packed house as a team. But whatever you do -- don't leave without ordering a piece of baklava cheesecake!!!

Great! Great! Great!

By Brenda B |

We loved our stop here. The food was amazing! We had the Brined Chicken Special. Also the baklava. Very good and a great value. Keep in mind this is not a “fancy place” but the great food is worth any lack of atmosphere. We were very pleased! Highly recommended!

Authentic Greek food

By MarOReilly |

Enjoyed a gathering of friends sharing plates of appetisers and mains. Appetisers were feta cheese, olives, yogurt and pitta bread. Platters of lamb chops, pork, shishkebab were shared while everyone had their own plate of salad pitta and chips. Very tasty. The cafe itself is basic decor in a strip shopping mall near Lakeland airbase and military hospital. Ample parking outside.

killed my greek craving

good greek food in texas? it happens

By crazyasianman |

We decided to stop here on a whim as every now and then we get the urge to drop in on a random dining establishment, especially if it seems utterly out of place. Had a few misadventures as a result but this time we were quite surprised and have returned multiple times since. The location itself is nothing remarkable, nestled in a somewhat run down strip with a flea market, dollar store and moon surfaced parking lot. But once you step inside you are greeted by very friendly staff (mina and dimi themselves are often on the job and mingling and joking) and Mark, who seems to be the lead waiter and perhaps their son as well is very friendly, attentive and quick to fulfill any request. The front counter is an expansive display of various spirits and deserts which it appears are made or at least mostly preparted on site. Our first visit was around lunch time but fortunately not during the peak lunch rush where the line of customers would be out the door. A normal gyro platter runs about $7 which you might not consider particularly special if you've had more run of the mill gyros, but here you get a very well stuffed gyro and natural style oven baked-ish fries. Another buck gets you a "fat' gyro which is stuffed far beyond what any pita should hold and is only held together by the wax paper wrapper. Their tzatziki sauce isn't your usual super runny affair either (although still runny due to getting melted), rich and obviously made from a very heavy cream as I've noticed from other dishes where the sauce is on the side rather than melted by the entree. They offer a selection of salads with small and large sizes (my fiance being quite a fan of the gyro salad), stuffed grape leaves and calamari among other appetizers, gyro and lamb and kabob platters, and some seafood selections as well. Thus far we have had the calamari, tzatziki-pita appetizer, gyro salad, fat gyro and gyro deluxe (adds feta cheese which she steals sometimes), beef souvlaki wrap, gyro and beef kabob platter, and the lamb platter. None of them have disappointed and I would have no reluctance at all ordering any of them for the rest of my life, probably two at a time as I tend to eat everything in sight. They advertise specials frequently, tonight we tried out the basa-filet platter which is a delicious fish we'd never heard of but regardless tastes awesome with a texture like tilapia or flounder but tastier, with a pilaf style rice and some fried butteryfly shrimp as well. I tried the lamb combo platter for the first time and received first a large plate of tzatziki sauce, oven baked potatos (olive oil coated with a light vinegary seasoning) and pita and fried okra, then a sizzling skillet loaded with gyro slices, onion, tomato, lamb racks and lamb kabob. Often lamb tends to have a rather "unique" smell or texture but the lamb here has none of the off-putting aspects that lamb may have at times. You might come into this place with low expectations at first, but you will leave with high expectations for any other establishment that might lay claim to serving good greek food with amazing service.

Best Greek food anywhere in the US

By Chris B |

You wouldn't know it from the location, but this is some of the best Greek food I've ever had. The restaurant is located in a rundown strip mall on the west side of San Antonio (almost out of the city limits), and near Lackland Air Force base. Because of this, the restaurant easily qualifies as one of those Holy Grail dive places people love to rave about - amazing food from the least likely of places. I've been going to Mina & Dimi's since @ 1997, when I lived in San Antonio from 1996 - 1999. After we moved closer to Austin, I've continued to make the drive (nearly an hour and a half) just to eat here. One year, the day before Thanksgiving, I went down and bought a lot of food for take out, and advised them of this. They prepped all of the food, but didn't heat it up, so that it would transport easily and last longer. For that long Thanksgiving weekend, we noshed on the most amazing food, and not the traditional turkey and dressing. Everything here is good, even if all you want is a basic gyro. But go ahead, get the spanakopita as an appetizer (the tzatziki sauce is incredible), and watch it disappear. I've seen my kids fight over the last piece, and it's spinach pie! Spinach! Or go for the calamari, or moussaka. And, if by chance, you aren't somehow full, dive in to the bakalava cheesecake (!!!), or one of the many other decadent desserts. If you're lucky, you'll get to see Dimi himself in the restaurant, and he's always good for a chat. Also, about once a month, they have "feasts", with wine tastings and a lot of plate smashing. Sometimes, they have belly dancers (and who doesn't like that?). Hands down, one of my favorite restaurants in the whole world, and I don't say that lightly.

Not impressed..

By SpotTVMom |

We've heard from lots of folks that this place was great. I ordered a Greek salad with gyro meat and my husband had a gyro. We were not impressed. The service was rushed and not good. The salad was missing olives and feta which are key components of a Greek salad. I asked the waitress if she could please add them and she seemed annoyed. The salad also didn't include cucumber and was in general very skimpy for the high cost they are charging. The gyro sandwich was average as well. We've had better from a street cart in the city. It's dirty and old with overpriced average food. Maybe folks in San Antonio have never had real, good Greek food? This is the first Greek restaurant we've tried in SA and we were not impressed..

Hidden oasis of honest Greek food and friendly waitstaff...AND a belly dancer!

By Lynn D |

We are at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort for a conference, no time to go downtown Friday night with Fiesta going on. We Googled far west San Antonio restaurants and found this little gem. We passed it twice before we found it because their sign doesn't light up. They are in a half empty strip center, but all the cars were there for them, Great lamb and fried okra, good wine, a belly dancer and friendly helpful waitstaff. Highly recommend!

Mina & Dimi's

By Dee N |

Have eaten here many times and never been disappointed. The food is excellent and the deserts heavenly. I often bring out of town guests here for the best in Greek food

Late lunch

By Sean7777777 |

Ok, I love this place! Gyros are great, everything is fresh with great flavor. My wife had a lava cake after dinner, she said it was exceptional. The place was very clean, the person in charge was clearly running a tight ship.

Very fast, very tasty!

By Heather M |

Very good! I went for lunch with my parents and we split the Hercules platter (for two). Plenty of food for the three of us. We did get a third plate that added another salad and the sides, which was worth the upcharge.

Great Food, Great Staff

By Stlrmike |

Went to this place with some friends and was a little unsure by the looks of the location. This place is a diamond in the rough! The staff was wonderful, funny and they definitely provide a personalized experience. The gyros and salad were excellent. My friend had the baklava cheesecake and said it was great. Their regular baklava is apparently even better. Would happily go back and eat their again!

LOVE THIS PLACE!

By m_broussard |

We now pay a visit to Mina & Dimi's every time we visit San Antonio. They treat you like family. Everything is wonderful from our starter of flaming Saganaki, house wines or this last time we tried Fifty Shades of Gray wine. I was skeptical but it was fantastic. Then you move on to scrumptious entrees of lamb chops, etc. & end it with an amazing dessert like baklava cheesecake. The waiter is always fun & helpful & the belly dancer is adorable & really puts on a great show. I can't wait to go back!

LOVE LOVE this place and the food

By sweetm |

I take all my out of town international friends here. The server and chef are always able to accommodate my request of a large platter of their Greek Salad with a couple pounds of Gyro meat on top. The salad is tangy but not too vinegary. The cucumbers; tomatoes, and onions are crisp and the olives just salty enough to enhance the rest of the salad. The meat is delicious too

Authentic Greek near Lackland AFB

By Steve S |

It's been a while since this northsider ventured all the way across town to this place. We will be going back real soon. Everything was wonderful. Tsasiki. Moussaka . Gyros. Saganaki . Spinatopka. Baklava. Tiramisu. Greek salad. Greek coffee. Nary a misstep. Funky ambiance. None of the dishes match. Owner is hilarious. Worth the drive.

Good Greek restaurant

By 331 |

A few minutes west of the downtown area in an aging strip mall off highway 90. When we arrived it was filled with appreciative service people from the nearby military base. Attentive and friendly staff. They brought out wines to taste before we committed to a bottle which was greatly appreciated. We had the saganaki as an appetizer which was excellent. We tried the Mediterranean sampler plate. The spanakopita and tiropita were excellent. Unfortunately the roasted potatoes were just lukewarm. The galaktoboriko dessert was very tasty and generously portioned. If you get tired of Tex mex cuisine on your visit to San Antonio this is excellent alternative.

Best Greek food I've had since visiting Greece!

By luv2trvl1426 |

I have been hearing about Mina and Dimi's since we moved to San Antonio two years ago. Among the local military community it is well known to have great food. I am so glad I finally stopped by because it exceeded my high expectations. I will be back soon and often!

Great authentic Greek food. Super yummy fries!

Visited as recommended to try by our son in law for the Feta Fries We were amazed at how good the food here was. The atmosphere was cozy, the staff was kind and helpful. The music was upbeat and fun. Great place to eat. Would definitely return.

Ended up there by getting lost in the city. If you love Greek food, this is the place! Simple, clean and friendly staff. Food is super. Hope you decide to go. ;))

The best gyro!

By toya h |

You order at the register and the waitstaff brings the food out to your table. The portions are large and everything was fresh and delicious. This place was packed and had a line nearly out the door the whole time we were there on a Thursday around 11:30am -12:15pm.

Fresh and delicious

The gyros and fries are super, but the gyro salad is just delicious. We go there for lunch and it is usually packed, but well worth the wait. No frills service, but the staff are nice and friendly. YUMMY gyros.

Great Gyro’s

Ate here because a friend recommended it. The place was packed for lunch, a good sign that the food was good. Gyro’s were wonderful, especially the chicken gyro. Fries were also very good. Service was prompt and friendly. Will eat here again.

Great food! Get it to go!

We loved the food! The service was great and the people are friendly. The decor was awful - we had to change tables because a Vampire wine display terrified our 3 year old. Our 11 year old commented that Robert Irvine needs to help them out! The food is great and we will go again - we'll just take it with us. There is no kids menu, but our kids all enjoyed their chicken on a stick with fries and pita. I would absolutely give the place a perfect review if not for the decor and ambience inside.

Very good food and nice people!

We ate dinner at Mimi and Dimis one evening on our way back to Lackland AFB to return our airman to base. The food was VERY delicious, everything was prepared wonderfully. The waitress was very pleasant and helpful and when we ran out of time, they were gracious to box things up to go for our airman who had to leave early. If you are in the area, you really should check this restaurant out. The only compliant we had was that they are too small and need to expand to a bigger space! P.S. There was even a performance by a belly dancer!

Rrally good food.

I went here with my sister. The service was very good and the food was excellent. We had the stuffed grape leaves along with olives and cheese for an appetizer. I had the Moussaka and my sister had the Pastitsio, which we shared with each other. Dessert was great also. My only complaint would be that the restaurant was too dark. I'm all for ambiance, but I want to see what I'm eating. Overall really good experience.

Great Value; Super Lively Atmosphere; Lovely Staff & Service

We wanted to escape from the Riverwalk to see some more of San Antonio and we're glad we did. This small family-owned restaurant provided us some great Greek food. We ordered the combo plate, which included some gyros, shish kabobs, some salads, and pita bread along with a couple of beers. The very Greek dining room was full of people having a great time. This was not a silent little romantic bistro. It felt like a restaurant filled with friends having a great time. The staff must really enjoy their work or do a great job pretending. We enjoyed the personal touch and left very satisfied. NOTE: The restaurant is located in a strip mall that Google Maps doesn't quite understand, so once you get to Military Avenue, head for the strip mall.

sketchy from outside, awesome food on the inside

We went here based on Trip Advisor reviews. We not disappointed, it was delicious! We had the Flaming Saganaki (fried cheese) with pita and the hummus as appies. Very good and loved the flaming at the table, the kids loved it and enjoyed every last bite. The souvlaki, both beef and chicken was very good, the oven potato was ok. I contemplated asking for fries instead. The Greek Salad was very good too. I think the beef was better than the chicken because whatever they marinate it with! No room for dessert which is too bad because it all looked so good.

Authentic Greek cuisine, reasonable prices....

By Paul B |

One of my favorite restaurants in San Antonio, regardless of price. Friendly and prompt service, fresh authentic Greek cuisine, and very reasonable prices. Their veggie moussaka is one of my favorites. Baklava is homemade and delicious. I always try to go back here every time I'm in town for work or pleasure.

The Best Greek Food

By Buckeygirl47 |

Being of Greek decent, I am VERY picky about my Greek food. I have been to every Greek restaurant in San Antonio and Mina and Dimi's Greek house is THE BEST!!!

A Diamond waiting to be found

By Dakotatex2013 |

Celebrating a birthday (my wife) we found this Greek restaurant that showered us with exceptional service and the best Greek food we have ever found in San Antonio! The food was amazing with all the right authentic flavors. They have a good variety of dishes and offered a sampling of several to chose from. Very close to Lackland, the outward appearance belies what is awaiting inside. Although this was our first visit, we became aware of this being a choice by many locals (military) for real Greek dishes.

Yum

I’ve been coming to San Antonio for 6 years and didn’t know about this place! How?!? The staff is amazing. The food is outstanding. The spices are perfection!! Thankfully we found it for our training on Monday and ate here every single day at lunch!!!! Highly highly recommend!

Great authentic Greek lunch

We stopped here on a whim as we drove through town. What a pleasant surprise! Don’t be put off by its strip shopping mall location. It’s a small and delightful place with authentic Greek food. Our Greek salad with gyro and pastitsio dishes were excellent. Enjoy! Opa! Highly recommended!!

Excellent food

By countrysue50 |

Vacationing in the area & looked on Trip Advisor for some dinner recommendations. We were looking for something other than your typical chain restaurant. The reviews were good so we gave it a try. It is in a shopping center where many stores have closed. Don't let that stop you. The place is clean & quaint. The food was fresh & delicious. The staff was friendly. We had the Hercules platter for two. The chicken, beef & gyro meats were tender & flavorful. The salad was fresh, the sauces yummy. I'm only sorry they don't have a location by where I live. If your tired of chain restaurant food I strongly recommend you give this place a try. You will be glad you did.

This is our family's favorite place for good food and good times. We've celebrated birthdays and anniversaries, reunions and get-togethers in this small but convivial little piece of heaven. It's easy to arrange tables to accommodate larger parties while still being intimate, and the service is outstanding. Excellent wine selection and desserts are displayed for easy choosing. The food is so good - fresh, authentic, and flavor-ful. I never leave empty handed because I order more tzatziki and pita to go for later! I'm not a big lamb fan, but at Mina and Dimi's it's one of my favorite things to get. Don't miss this great place!

Unbelievable Greek Food

By Jarvis O |

Mina & Dimi's Greek House is the best Mediterranean restaurant in San Antonio. I have been going there for nearly 20 years. It is definitely one of the top restaurants in the Lackland area. Their secret Grecian spices give their food an awesome flavor. They have the best pita bread in town. Their Gyros meat is so soft, giving them an unbeatable gyro. They have quick and accurate service. It is also very affordable.

Great food

We showed up at 7:35 not knowing they close at 8pm on weekdays. No problem we were welcomed like old friends. Great service wonderful food. Highly recommended.

Good Greek Food

Good food and good service. Husband had the steak and gyro meat special and I have a combination platter. We could have shared either--the portions were generous.

Noisy, crowded but worth it!

By ClassicTheatre |

Popular lunch place is always crowded but service is very quick. Order at the counter for delivery to your table. Chicken on skewers, Greek salad, tzatziki, gyros -- all traditional Greek and very tasty. I love the appetizers, so the mixed appetizer platter is my favorite. Kalamari is very good, but a little pricey. Otherwise, prices are very reasonable. The baklava is honey heaven. I haven't tried the other desserts, but they are beautiful. Must go just for dessert next time.

Overall great experience!

By MerloII |

I should start by saying my wife has Celiac Disease, so we’re always overly careful where we dine. I called ahead to ask about gluten free options (says available on the menu), and WOW are the accommodating (spoke with the manager). The manager was very knowledgeable and even went to far as to identify the place setting so the staff was aware of additional care required. Now, the food.....was GREAT! I’ve never been to Greece but the food and experience felt very authentic. We all had different dishes and everyone was over the top about how good everything was. There was even a belly dancer to add to the experience. For me personally this was not a good thing since the dancer had loud music as part of her performance which made it difficult to converse. In between performances all was great, so this is just a preference thing. All in all I HIGHLY recommend giving it a try and we’ll be back!

Order the Feta Fries!

By Brenda S |

We were on the way from Houston to San Antonio and looking for restaurants on our route. Due to the high ratings, decided to stop at Mina and Dimi's. We vaguely remembered going here once many years ago when visiting family. We were in a hurry and the place was busy since it was after 7pm on a Friday night ... but amazingly we were in and out in 40 minutes (we decided our order en route so we could order as soon as we sat down). The food was awesome. Based on the reviews, we knew to order the Feta Fries. OMG they are just heaven. The fries are smothered in Feta and some kind of sauce. We stuffed our face with them and then still had some left to take home to my parents, who devoured them as well. I'm drooling just thinking about it. We also got deluxe gyros. The difference with the regular appears to be lettuce and feta. Again, very delicious. The regular sized gyro (versus the higher priced "fat" one) is a bit smaller than the one we get in Houston ... but I still couldn't finish it. We didn't quite know how to order as we knew we did not want the greek salad or regular seasoned fries that came with the gyro (in the evening you don't have the option to just get a gyro) ... so asked if we could just substitute the salad/fries for the Feta Fries. I'm not sure if you're allowed to do that, but our waiter was very patient with us and gracious and allowed it. I also like how they do their billing. When I asked for the bill, he said just go to the counter. There you tell them where you were sitting and you are charged on an iPad. All you have to do is click on what % you want to tip and how you want your receipt (printed, emailed, etc.). Again, it was very efficient and fast. Next time if we go at lunch we will just get the gyros by themselves and 1 order of Feta Fries to split. The restaurant is pretty small but looks like it could accomodate at least 60 diners. I would not hesitate to bring a large group but would call in advance to confirm. By the way, some other reviews commented on the "sketchiness" of the area. This did not bother me as this is the side of town where I "grew up" in my teens. We didn't see any homeless people or anything like that -- but the strip center across from them does have a tattoo parlor, short term loan business, etc. The huge parking lo was pretty empty except for all the cars near the restaurant. Bottom line -- be adventurous and enjoy the mouthwatering deliciousness.
