I have been going to Mirage Diner for over 20 years. I always request Manny as my Server. I love their Prime Rib and I ask for Mushroom & Onions in Wine Sauce on the side. This Prime Rib is too good for a bottled sauce. Last week I had their Pastrami on Rye, for lunch, it was so good I did not put anything on it. I have never been disappointed. Don't forget to look at the photos I have posted ;-) All baking is done on the premises Manny is off on Monday & Tuesday. Chef Louis is off on Thursday.

My son and I went to Mirage Diner for lunch on Saturday. It looks nice inside, and we were seated immediately. The menu offers many choices, and we finally settled on an Italian specialty called Sorrento. The set is for two for $29. We were served several different kinds of bread, generous amount of butter, coleslaw, pickled cucumber, and two plates of salad. The main dish came bit late, but the big plate contained two shrimp, veal, chicken & eggplant Rollatini with Ricotta Cheese. They were tasty, but we found it hard to distinguish chicken from veal. My son enjoyed his plate of Spaghetti; so did I, with guilty pleasure. We also spent $3 on a piece of lox, which is set on cabbage. The amount was large that some were still in my refrigerator after dinner. The waiters and cashier were helpful, and their attitude was just about right, not too warm or too cold. I had no problem finding a parking space, although the lot is not big. Overall it cost $40. I recommend this place to anybody.

I have been to this diner several times and have always been treated with courtesy and professionalism. The food is always good and the service is adequate. The selection of food is adequate and the prices are average. They have a parking lot that fills up fast partly because there is a shortage of diners in Brooklyn. How sad! Overall, very nice for a snack or a full course dinner.

We went there today for a luncheon after a funeral. The people were curt and rude. We were about 30 people and we had reservations. It took them forever to bring us drinks and one of the waiters actually slammed down a cup coffee when asked about the coffee. Then we waited about 45 minutes for our orders to be taken. When the food finally arrived it was like they were auctioning it off. They were yelling, who ordered the hamburger without onions, who ordered the California omelet. I wouldn’t recommend this place, as a matter of fact I would tell people to avoid it. The food was good, but service and friendliness count also. This is not how I expect to be treated when I am spending money on a meal.

Breakfast was ok... food/service nothing special, but if you need a meal at a convenient place it'll do.

The food is delicious and fresh. It is always consistent. Most important is the wait staff. There is one waiter named Manny, who is so attentive and nice. He accommodates every customer and always has a smile. The diner should be proud of him as an employee. I would definitely return.

Whoever happens to be in Brooklyn I recommend that they stop at Mirage Diner whether it’s for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. It has the best cuisine that I have ever had from all the places I have been to. Every time I’m in town I make sure I make a stop at Mirage. I’ve never been disappointed. The staff at the diner are always cordial, friendly, and service is amazing. They make you feel like you’re part of a family. It’s worth 5 stars!!!!

We've been going to the Mirage for a very long time and we've never had a bad meal. Billy and staff have kept up the great traditions of the old Caraville restaurant. Service is great (John and Manny are our favorite waiters) and the food is always good and plentiful. If you're in the mood for a real Brooklyn diner, go to The Mirage.

I had #breakfast at dinner because of home made meals and huge meal selection. I order egg benedicts with bacon, coffee. I enjoy the whole meal. I love their service. They have great oatmeal, too. MY mom was thrilled with her cappuccino. Has FREE parking lot. FREE hot drinks refills. They also have a party room. Amazing service. FAST SERVICE.

The Mirage is a family favorite for it's variety of food and value. The servers are terrific and personable. The complete dinners are a great value. Consume the salad and appetizer, then take the entree home.

Very nice dinner. For 20$ we got a soup, salad, main corse and dessert. Very good service. Good food. Very nice😊

My girlfriend and I stopped by for dinner after a day out. She lives nearby while I live in another borough so we don't get to see each other that often. Our server Jose was attentive and friendly. When we finished and were given the check he still came back to check on us as we were sitting for a few extra minutes. You rarely see that anywhere else. It doesn't matter what you order as everything is great and cooked to your instructions. It is our go to place when we are in Brookln

2nd time i went to the place the waiters are good food was delish and plentiful soup was really good and hot my wife wants to go for breakfast

Place always serves good food Good quality and big portions Friendly staff Large selection of desserts and beverages.

Wow! Fantastic food, Veggie Quesadilla is supreme! Seared Tuna wrap with chipotle mayo so delicious! Eggs Rancheros is crazy good! Lemon meringue pie is sky high!

This is a diner, not fine dining, but excellent food all of the time. Seared tuna wrap is a winner. They just added CAULIFLOWER CRUST PIZZA! Terrific, running back for more. Its worth a trip just for this. They have their own parking lot. Been coming here for years and years.

This is our family’s go to Diner in Brooklyn. You can’t get a bad meal here. The menu is extensive , the service is perfect and the prices are right.

Mirage is a true Mirage in food. Best service ever .Smiley and helpful people doing a great work. I really enjoyed their greek kitchen and most of all Cheesecake were delicious. I suggest this dinner 100%. Try Greek dishes and for sure meet Bill the owner that he is so kind and hospital. For sure a must place if you are in Brooklyn. Classic Dinnner that gives you the true smell of taste and culture of Brooklyn .

My friend was racially discriminated against at Mirage Diner, 717 Kings Highway, Brooklyn, NY 11223. On Saturday 20 April, 2024 at approximately 9am, I visited the Mirage Diner for breakfast with a friend. We are both black. The maitre d, an older white male, perhaps in his 50s-60s, seated me first because my friend went to move his vehicle to an open space in the Diner's carpark. Upon his return, my friend assisted an older gentleman who was also white, through the first door to access the Diner. The gentleman's son or caretaker who is also white, in turn thanked my friend for his earlier assistance and opened the second door to allow his father and my friend to enter the waiting area at the diner. The maitre d's station is directly in front the second door. As the three men gathered, my friend told the maitre d, that I was already seated inside. In response, the maitre d said to my friend, "You do not belong here!". Both gentlemen who came in with my friend, heard this exchange. I motioned to my friend to let him know where I was seated. As he entered the booth, the maitre d came by and to him "I''m sorry, I was joking." Before my friend could tell me what occurred, the maitre d came by again and said "I was joking, I did not mean what I said." At this point, I knew something happened. My friend then told me about the encounter. Coffee was served but we were not going to stay where we are not welcomed. My friend, left the diner and I went to the maitre d to pay for the coffee which was worth $4.68 and said to him, "my friend did not think what you said was funny." The maitre d then indicated that I did not need to pay for the coffee. I did not say anything further and left. As we exited the car park in the vehicle, the maitre d came outside and clasped his hands like he was praying as if to apologise again. There was no further interaction and we left. To the server, who brought us the coffee, Sir, please know that you did nothing wrong. We left quickly because we assessed that we were not safe or comfortable. To the maitre d, you showed your true self on Saturday morning. You missed the point of the earlier interaction between my friend and the two gentlemen when they entered the diner. Being human, courteous, exhibiting mutual respect comes naturally for some people. Clearly, you did not receive that memo. There is no reason why we will accept the disrespectful behaviour you exhibited. I will exercise my right not to patronise any establishment that endorses or exhibits racist attitudes. My friend and I subsequently went to Parkview Diner, 2939 Cropsey Ave. Brooklyn, NY 11214. We were warmly welcomed, looked after by the serving staff and had amazing food - the California omelette and the gyro platter along with the international coffees were so good.

This is one of the dwindling few Diners left in Brooklyn. Selection is big and varied. Portions are large and supriseingly good. Service is fast. Valet parking on premises. Limited parking on busy local streets. Lunch for 3 $26 before tip.

I decided to have lunch out today because of the impending snow storm. I sat with my favorite waiter, Bernard. I had a toasted bialy with cream cheese, tomato, onion and one slice of lox. This is the only diner who charges per slice of lox, so you don't have to order the full order, which I love. Bernie always brings me my cup of coffee without me telling him. I sometimes go there with a friend and when he brings me my regular coffee, he brings my friend decaf. Everyone there is wonderful. The food is excellent and they have the best sour pickles. They never rush you, so I sometimes want to stay a little longer so I order dessert.

We were in Brooklyn for an event at Brooklyn College and took the opportunity to go to the Mirage. It's everything a diner should be: Good food (mostly) and enormous portions, (yikes) and lots of people from the 'hood. Our waiter was a pro. Dinner was BIG and endless. The $19 deal comes with cole slaw, mac salad, pickles, an appetizer, hot rolls, a big salad (or soup), your entree, (I had a filet mignon, no kidding) and dessert. No room of dessert? They'll pack it up for you. My husband had a chopped steak. Meaty and delicious. We brought home a baked potato and our (fresh) broccoli. I did not like my chopped liver appetizer. But, it was no great problem with all the other food that came. Go and eat. You won't be sorry.

I went with a friend and our waiter Bernie knows exactly what all his steady customers want. Before anything, he always brings my friend a decaf coffee and me a regular coffee. We always have the same food for breakfast. We don't have to ask him. He does however mentions what we want and we say yes. The food comes out very fast and we not only enjoy the food, but the atmosphere as well.

With Diners becoming extinct in NYC, at least the Mirage still provides good food, value and service at least in most cases. We stopped by for a late breakfast on a Sunday two weeks ago and could not have enjoyed the food and exemplary service more. The waiter was just marvelous and could not be more informative and helpful. Breakfast omelets, eggs, toast, coffee were all good and prepared as we had asked for. Unfortunately, we could not say that for the last visit this past Sunday. we stopped over and decided on some fish instead as it was late in the day. I had the Rainbow Brook trout and the Mrs. had the Lemon Sole. First, the waitress was abominable. She did not know or at least made believe, what came with the dinner. When confronted with the menu, she acquiesced but with an attitude. Additionally, trying to get water refills was a nightmare. Overall, service was horrible and i can say that is was the fault of this miserable lady waitress. The waitress had the audacity to ask if I wanted to add anything onto the bill for the tip. While we left a tip, it reflected what we felt the service was worth. As far as the food, the fish was OK from the standpoint of the Lemon Sole but the broiled Rainbow Brook trout was served breaded (what!). The Brook trout had absolutely no taste and I have my doubts how fresh it was as well. The best part of the meal was the sweet potato. Portion sizes were large and the dinners may be a good value but not for the fish as far as I am concerned. Stick with the breakfast, hamburgers and comfort food, and you should be fine ......

We had a waitress who barely spoke or understood English. I had to reiterate a request such as whether the chicken in a particular dish was boneless where she had to go ask. When asked about the specials she just pointed to the menu, although I was puzzled by what was on the board by the door. She couldn't answer the question, although I learned on my own it was the menu special from the day before that wasn't erased. The food was average - come on, its diner food what would one expect? I must say they do feed you well and for that, I give them an extra star! Before dinner, a basket of breadsticks and bread was brought out, along with bowls of chickpea, cole slaw, and sour and half sour pickles. I thought these were very tasty. My dinner came with soup, side, and potato. Don't order the Lobster Bisque! It's 1) NOT lobster - I hate fish so I knew right away; and 2) it looks like it glows peachy colors in the dark. I switched it for chicken soup, which they did without question. It was real chicken stock- my fault I forgot don't like chicken that is too chicken tasting. The meals we had were the Beef Gulosh. My girlfriend had it with noodles and I had it without. It comes in a reddish brown sauce. I am used to brown, but I thought the tomatoes gave it a better taste. My GF prefers brown sauce. You can't pay the wait staff, maybe there is a security issue there. You have to pay at the counter. We were seated right away but let me tell you at around 7:00 PM, on a Sunday that placed gets packed with seniors. Very large space but still it can fill up at its peak times. Parking lot - if you have a new car or don't want to get dinks or scratches on it don't park in the lot when it's busy. It seems half the drivers who park their cars in there don't know the meaning of between the lines. When I came out there were three cars over the lines crooked, and one laid out diagonally in front of the base of steps blocking the path. Either those drivers need new glasses or the city needs to stop issuing drivers' licenses out of cracker jack boxes. The other danger is the lot is small so you better know how to K turn inside a small space. and let me tell you some of those drivers I was watching trying to turn around and I wish I took a video because I just can't describe what I witnessed. Average prices are about $18+ with seafood being in the high 20's closer to $30. So it's pretty expensive .. most likely to pay for the pre-dinner. We were so full we skipped dessert and each left with a takeout tray. Not a bad deal if you're hungry, don't have anyone to impress and if you go during their less busy times. Bon appetite!

Diana is our go-to server. The turkey burgers with escarole and mushrooms hit our food spots. Our granddaughter gobbled up pancakes with bacon. It’s now one of our two comfort food spots in Brooklyn. It’s a good choice when you’re out running errands.
Delivery person called me a "N*gger"
I ordered food from Mirage Diner the evening of Sunday, May 24th at ~9 pm. At 10:15 pm, I received a call on my cell phone from the driver asking that I meet him in the lobby for delivery of the food. I insisted that he deliver the food to my apartment on the 5th floor. He was angry and hung up. When he arrived, I took the food from him unpleasantly. As the elevator door was closing, he called me a "N*gger." I took the stairs down the apartment and confronted him on the first floor (he mistakenly existed the elevator on the 1st floor - the entrance in my building is in the lobby). After confronting him and returning to the staircase to walk back up to my apartment, he again called me a "N*gger." I spoke to the owner of Mirage Diner, who was apologetic and mentioned that the delivery person is a contractor and works for the diner approximately twice per week and that he would no longer work for the diner. Upon further reflection of the incident, it seemed that this contractor should no longer work as a delivery person for any restaurant; I again called the owner of Mirage Diner to seek the delivery person's full name and the name of other restaurants at which he works, to which the owner responded unknowingly and suggested I enlist the police for help.
