Yummy food, slow service

By eusay |

First off, I really liked food here! I had spicy yuzu miso ramen, couldn't taste much yuzu but noodles are tasty, and soup base was good. Had a special, seared tuna salad, which was in a light cream sauce. Also very delicious ! Portion is on a small side, think tapas... Order several and share with friends! As a result, it ends up a bit expensive. The place is little, and it was crowded. Service was slow, they forgot our order, they took a long time to acknowledge us at the door... But at least they were nice about it. Overall I think it's worth trying just for food!

Great Soups & Fresh Food!

By Barry P |

You can't go wrong with this restaurant! Fantastic presentation and every entree is so fresh! Just delicious! Small room and good service. A Japanese perfect meal!

one of the best

in portland, always fantastic fresh fish from all over the world. the omakase is a treat. good sake list as well

Sushi rice done right!

By Asu W |

This is the first Japanese restaurant which sushi rice was seasoned right. Rice is cooked to be right texture as well. Great sushi rice is a critical factor for great sushi. I had salmon & tuna nigiri with some rolls. All are excellent. On the other side, ramen was a bit disappointment. The noodle does not seem house made as well as soup. I would still give 9 out of 10 for ramen shop in Portland.

Try the eggplant/spicy tuna appetizer!

By sanDCastles |

My fiance had previously been here and raved about his experience so when I flew in from out of state we dined here. It was a trek to get to from where we were staying on the other side of town, but well worth it. We arrived 7 minutes before they opened so we went a block down for a beer, came back 20 minutes later and the place was quite busy just within that short amount of time from opening but we were offered seating right away at the sushi bar. We had several varieties of nigiri and all were excellent, rice was so fresh it was still warm, I particularly liked their eel, generous portion of meat and just enough sauce. Prices were fair. Service was prompt and the right amount of tending to us without being "too much." I had their "chef recommended" sake off of the menu- Moon Over Water or something? It was excellent, mellow enough to dine with and chilled just right without being icy cold. What I HIGHLY recommend is the tempura eggplant/spicy tuna off the appetizer menu- SO good. Tempura was airy light and crispy, tuna was flavorful and it had a beautiful presentation,I could have ordered several more and been happy eating just that for dinner :) We ate it up so I didn't even get a chance to take a photo before it disappeared. This was one place my fiance said we "must go to" when I was in Portland from Florida, and he was right, very happy we ate here.

Very underrated Japanese

By mattw922 |

At 4 stars this place is way underrated. Everything I've had here has been exceptional and at a price you can't pass up. The salmon - perfect every time. The sushi - delicious. And the genki ramen - best bowl of ramen in Portland hands down (and I've tried a lot of them). The lunch specials are a great deal and just the right portion size. Don't miss this one. Only downside is it's in a terrible neighborhood but don't let that deter you.

Best sushi I've had in quite some time!

Man this place was amazing. It's pretty small but we were seated right away on a Saturday evening, so I'll call it a hidden gem? The service was great and the food was even better.

Even Better, Even Limited to Take-Out

By CondeCox |

Excellent Ramen, full of great wild mushroom and tasty broth----this is much better than your usual ramen. And their Raw scallop sushi is outstanding. Simple place. Great food. With Covid shutdown, their take out is as good or maybe better than when they were open as a regular restaurant!

Cold and rainy nite, warm up with delicious ramen!

By gyw |

a perfect answer to a cold, rainy week....a tasty soup and ramen noodle that is firm and matches up well with the broth...mmmm, smallish, tapas like side dishes are good too but the ramen broth is main attraction. a small restaurant, maybe 8-10 tables? understand some nites, a line can form outside, we were fortunate to get there very late (at 9:30pm) and had the restaurant mostly to ourselves. Pretty good wine selection as well.

Nice and good

By Frinhard |

Ver interesting food experience, the personnel is kind and ready to advice the costumer. It is a pretty tiny place, so be ready to wait a while for being served

Best Ramen in Town---also one of the best sushi bars

By CondeCox |

No better wintertime ramen than here; several different types of ramen, with all kinds of things tossed into the bowl! Also great sushi, of the highest quality. One of the three best sushi bars in PDX.

Good food

By Fandositu |

I tried it for the lunch and it was quite busy. The lady who served me was really helpful suggesting me what to order based on my demands. The food was brilliant and they moved quite quickly although the restaurant was almost full. The sushi is really good.

Two year absence and never better!

By gyw |

An expanded sushi menu including nigiri favorites made this a special return! The ramen (genki for me, tonkotsu for others) just hit the spot with the dashi and noodle complementing one another so well. mmmmm, Old favorites mixed in with tasty nigiri and rolls just made this a wonderful evening with friends and family. Yes they were extremely busy (no room at the sushi bar) and all tables occupied on a nice Sunday evening. So service was a little slow to start but really picked up. We were also happy to see Chef Hiro behind the counter producing his precision cuts, blends and sauces. He always brings his passion for quality and presentation. Hope it won't be another two years for our next visit!

To die for ramen

By Douglas L |

My son took me here and it was by far the best ramen I've ever had. Their noodle dishes are elaborate, with great broth and ingredients, just wonderful. The sake flights were also a lot of fun, a chance to explore different types of sake.

Wonderful noodles

By clani |

The broths are so good. Had other things on the menu like sushi, yakitori--all good. Hiro is a master.

Awesome!

By Tony B |

We thoroughly enjoyed the communal atmosphere and freshly-made hot bowls. The restaurant was completely full with a vibrant mix of people n a Sunday evening, which prompted us to go in and give it a try - we weren't disappointed. There's choices for every palate, from vegan to carnivore or mild to spicy hot. The food is fresh, creative and fun for those looking for a traditional Japanese / Asian hot bowl.

Friends Reuniting

By Hardrocker8888 |

My friends and I met here for dinner. I had ramen and it was delicious. My friends also enjoyed their dinner. Staff were friendly and helpful. There was lots of street parking.

There was a line when they opened!

By CATHY A |

We went to Mirakutei tonight for dinner. When we got there just before 5:30pm there was already two other parties ahead of us. By 6pm there was a waiting list. when we left just before 7pm it was packed. Our dinner was lovely and the wait staff were super nice. The food was tasty and came quickly. They have dishes marked that are gluten-free and that is super helpful. All in all a great experience.

Great Sushi

By WGJ49 |

I went here with a friend She got the Hello Kitty Roll and I got the Pacific North West. Both were delicious. Service was good. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor dining.

Late Dinner

By 817Ilse |

Just a few blocks from the Doug Fir Lounge and it was quite the experience. They didn't have a dish that I wanted so I ordered an Original Ramen. SO good. Went with a friend and she had a vegetarian Ramen with a Japanese beer. Small but very busy and food came fast! Would love to go again.

Lots of good flavors!

By LizaFly1266 |

Small place with limited seating. We arrived about 5 minutes before they opened and there was a line waiting to get in. They only take reservations for 5 or more guests. Miso was very good. There were interesting sushi and nigiri options that we had not tried before that were very good. Service was a bit slow. They have a wide array of traditional Ramen that looks good. All our sushi and nigiri came on one plate.

First meal here

By richard g |

Had a combination of bento, nigiri, and ramen for lunch. We were relatively ok with what we ate, liked the service and casual atmosphere. Will go back for dinner and see if this will remain on our list!

It was just "average"

By Kevin McInroy-Edwards |

Not much about Restaurant Mirakutei wowed me, but nothing turned me off either. The sushi, while a bit pricey, was good. The wait staff was very friendly and I think, if we go back, it will be because of them. This part of town tends to draw a good number of conventioneers during the day and locals in the evening. It can get a bit loud since the acoustics are really bad. Overall, I'd say "give it a try", you won't be disappointed, but you also won't leave feeling you found your ultimate "go to" sushi place either.

Inner SE Ramen & Sushi House

By Amy K |

We decided to venture outside of the usual neighborhoods and visit Burnside. It was looking a little worse for wear on a Friday night in November. The hipster mini mart I read about in WW last year was boarded up and covered with graffiti. The street was fairly quiet with the exception of a sold out Doug Fir show. But, Mirakutei was full. We took the last spots at the counter and waited. There were two servers, three sushi chefs, and around twelve tables total. Our order was taken after ten minutes. Our sake & beer arrived ten minutes later. My friend’s ramen order arrived after another fifteen minutes. My small sushi order was served twenty minutes after his, and he was already finished with his meal. I joked that as long as I have sake, I don’t really need dinner! I’m guessing this place is fairly new or had new staff on this particular evening. The food, once it arrived, was good.

Gosh it's really been two years. Chef Hiro still serving up quality dishes.

By gyw |

Cannot believe it's been two years since we've last visited here. Really glad that the old favorites like the eggplant tempura spicy tuna appetizer is still around. That makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Top notch rolls and kushiyaki are still served. Ramen broth (Tonkotsu) was still as good as any we've had in Japan too. Great way to end out day. Top it off with great panacotta and cheese cake dessert and my tummy is happy. I'll say it again, I hope it won't be another two years to get back here.

Yum!

By WanderingKaat |

I am a ramen addict so I naturally looked for ramen when I came to visit Portand. The place was abt .8 miles away from our hotel, which was convenient. However, maybe just because I am from the east coast that I found their service a little slow; we had to wait minutes for them just to clean the table. The waitstaff we had was nice, anyway, so that made up for that although considering how I noticed there were only 2 ladies waiting that night, the other wouldnt help us with what we needed and had to refer us back to the server assigned to us. We found the restaurant a bit hot, as well. They had the door opened and it was a bit of a warm day. Not especially great if youre eating hot, spicy ramen. Anyway, as for the food, my family ordered ramen, 2 veggies and 1 tonkutso. My husband and I particularly liked the veggie ramen, which was really robust. I cant say much for the tonkutso bec my daughter was sick and didnt finish hers. Our 2 other friends swore by the fish they had and hearing how good our ramen was, ordered the same. Oh, yeah prior, we had appetizers, as well, which was tasty. Overall, I am pleased with the food. Really worth visiting if you love ramen.

Totally forgettable Japanese experience

By bananaspijamas |

Came in for lunch on a Friday. Ordered the octopus sunomono, which only contained 2 slices (of octopus) and was pretty bland. The two rolls I had (Spicy Tuna and Dynamite Salmon) were completely unremarkable and lumpy. To finish off, I ordered gyoza which was swimming in grease. Maybe next time stick to ramen....or somewhere else! Service was decent.

Real Japanese style Raman!

By Jocelyn C |

Best Raman in Oregon. Real Japanese Raman! I think no other place can compete with here. My favorite Raman is tonkatsu Raman, and secondary is the original Raman. Also, their sashimi is really fresh! Very tasty! Don't forget to give it a try. However, I have to say their price for sushi are high... I understand they have great quality sashimi and their sheaf are pro, but it is too pricy that I can't enjoy a full selection of taste... Hopefully they can lower their sashimi price a little bit, that would be awesome!

Delicious ramen

By Bret S |

Glad I gave this place a try! I had he Sapporo Ramen and it was delicious. I don't eat ramen often, so I don't really know what makes one better than another. You don't have to be a ramen lover to appreciate how good this tastes. Service also friendly and fast. Recommend

Dishes are tasty, beautiful artworks.

By Michael J |

We dropped in for an early appetizer. We both had a small salad, seared tuna for my wife and fried soft shell crab for me. Both dishes were beautiful presentations and very tasty; greens fresh and crisp, fish excellent. A bit pricey, but a great choice for a fine meal.

Great service, caring staff, fresh sushi

By Pamela Q |

Mirakutel is small, clean, and modern restaurant, with a warm atmosphere and efficient, caring staff. We brought a cake to our birthday celebration which they cheerfully served (we chose to tip extra for this). The restuarant was full, staff was busy, but they served fresh, well prepared, sushi and ramen with little little wait time and with great care. Parking can be a slight challenge as it is located on a busy street but this didn't interfere with our great experience.

Best veggie ramen in Portland!

By Michelle A |

This place has the best vegetarian ramen in Portland! Apparently their other ramens are good too. All of the food I've had there is delicious. The space is pretty small and fills up during lunch and dinner prime times.

Excellent food & service

By Taryn F |

After walking several blocks in the area looking for a place to eat, we settled on this restaurant. We are SO happy we did. Bryce, our server, was Amazing! Very friendly and all around great guy. The food was delicious! Seriously, delicious! We had a really crappy day and our experience here made it better (we drove down from Vancouver BC to Portland).
