Misi is a fantastic restaurant. Well worth the trip from Manhattan to savor the fantastic pasta dishes and the vegetable dishes as well. Choices offered as small plates but each plate can be easily shared by 2 to 3 people so you get to try a number of dishes. The pasta is the lightest I have ever eaten and the sauces are creative and delicious. The vegetable dishes are also excellent. Be sure to save room for the gelato for dessert. The restaurant itself is stunning.

Really excellent pasta. Have been twice now since the opening - definitely tough to get e reservation, but worth it. The ricotta toast with peppers is a great app and really all of the pastas are fantastic, but thoroughly enjoyed the tortelli - highly recommend!

I come from a family that makes their own pasta every week for Sunday dinner. I hope my mother never sees this. The Sheeps Milk Ricotta Filled Occhi may be the best thing i have ever eaten.

Heard about this chef and trendy location and concept and thought this could be a lot of hype. It wasn't. Had the possibility of one dinner in NYC on a quick trip. And we ignored the "no reservations for a month" warnings. Chose Misi. Walked in a half hour before close hoping to get seats at the bar. We got a nice corner table. Perfect menu. 10 appetizers / 10 pasta. Date stamped as today's offerings. Everything worked. An obvious super high bar on the best ingredients combined with the daring to use them in new and creative ways. It was just delicious. And the "no attitude" waitstaff was truly a complement to the meal.

Great space and my view looking at the pasta preparation room was quite enjoyable. Food was wonderful! Antipasto plates of crostinis with whipped ricotta and grilled peppers was delicious as were the grilled runner beans with garlic. Grilled eggplant was good, not great. We had 2 pastas, a fettuccini and a rigatoni- both delicious. Strawberry and cream gelato was a light ending to the meal. Service was excellent. Definitely worth a visit.

Went here for my daughter's birthday dinner and everyone was amazed at the quality of the food, the wonderful service and the loud but fun atmosphere. The pasta is so fresh and delicately prepared. Our server was very careful to make sure that anything I ordered was free of things I was allergic to. She clearly made sure that every person who might be bringing food to our table was also aware which was so reassuring.

We were on our way to the always delicious Uva earlier this evening when my wife’s phone rang and the hostess at Misi said a table opened up and it was ours if we could be there in 30 minutes. Having wanted to be xperience oowhat everyone has been raving about for over two years, we rushed right over. Wow! I can sum it up in that one word, but not wow in a good way. I really don’t know why this is one of the hottest tables in town. Let’s start with the attitude of the owner and head chef, Missy Robins. I understand chefs can be temperamental, and that they don’t want any changes to their “perfect dishes”. And I understand that when you are asking for an extra ingredient, or to leave out an ingredient in something that has been prepped earlier in the day it may not be possible to make any changes. But refusing to accommodate an allergy by leaving off the hot peppers that topped the roasted apricot crostini? Give me a break! Missy, I grant you that without the hot peppers the dish would not taste the way you want it to. On the other hand, it would taste the way your paying customer needed it to taste to accommodate their food allergy. And if my wife prefers spaghetti to linguine, where’s the harm in that substitution? On to the food. Overall, the quality of the ingredients were top notch. The preparation, not so much. The lettuces in my summer greens salad were not dried properly thereby watering down the dressing. My wife’s Swiss chard was a bit tough to cut and to chew. She did enjoy her linguine with anchovy, garlic, parsley and colatura, but would have much prefer spaghetti instead of the mandated linguine. My fettuccine with buffalo butter, very aged Reggiano and black pepper was so salty as to be inedible went first presented they remade it, insisting that they did not add any salt, but it tasted the same. Regggiano Parmesan, even when aged for years, is not a salty cheese. Either the pasta was mistakenly cooked in water from the Dead Sea with two or three times the proper amount of salt or the chef was punking me for complaining that they wouldn’t serve the roasted apricots without the hot peppers, nor substitute spaghetti for the linguine. While both the waitress and the manager were apologetic that we did not enjoy our experience, that hardly made up for me leaving the restaurant hungry. Thankfully, the Manhattan Bakery was still open on the way home so at least I got a bit of dessert. To those who enjoy true Italian cuisine, I say “avoid Misi at all costs”. There are far, far better options. And to those who come here because it is an “in spot”, I’m guessing for you, image is everything. Me, I would rather have a delicious dinner at a hole in the wall, off the beaten path, unknown restaurant and not have to drink a gallon of water to quench my thirst from 5 forkfuls of pasta. Oh, and by the way, I wonder how long the toilet seat in the bathroom has been broken? Judging from the cleanliness of the bathroom, it may have been broken a couple of days ago. I grudgingly give Misi 2 stars based on the quality of their ingredients. But I won’t be going back.

Casual with a nice vibe. Friendly service and most seatings are bar seatings. Great concept of all vegetarian appetisers. Lots of choices and all amazing. The famous ricotta toast (this time with wood mushrooms) was phenomenal. Braised butterbeans and grilled artichokes were delicious. All great portions for sharing for 3 people. The pastas were the reason to come to Misi. Chittara with lamb was excellent but the best is the spinach and ricotta tortellini - so delicate and yet Al dente. The rigatoni with 30 clove pomodoro was also excellent. And finishing off with the olive oil ice cream is a must. Reasonable prices as well.

My teenager and I enjoyed a meal at Misi last night and we found it delicious. We were seated immediately and the service was polite and helpful. The salad and baby artichokes were so flavorful and we loved the pastas. My daughter said she could never eat at another Italian restaurant again. Gelato was out of this world. Missy Robbins is a fantastic, imaginative yet authentic chef and we will visit her restaurants again and again.

I just don’t get all the hype about this restaurant. The room is quite lovely ( especially those lights ). Service is professional but not exactly “ warm “ and “ friendly “. The food is hit or miss: good ricotta crostini with charred peppers were followed by a tragic mushy fried eggplant. It reminded me of bad baby food..... the mascarpone tortellini were kind of bland. The linguine with garlic, anchovies and colatura were actually much better and perfectly al dente. Very good olive oil gelato. In the end not exactly what I expected. No way I will be back.

We’ve dined all over the world. Last night we had the privilege of spending three hours in Missy Robbins Culinary Shrine. Her new restaurant takes everything from her first restaurant Lilia only a short car ride away and adds a more modern touch and a total open kitchen. You would do an injustice to yourself by sitting at a table. You MUST sit at the Chefs Counter. My wife, who is an amazing chef was both riveted to her food as well as what was going on in front of her. Missy’s staff from her front crew to her waitstaff and chefs make every restaurant we’ve been to pale in their conception. We have no idea how she’s done this in such a short time. We intend to come back from our home 7,000 miles away in Hawaii whenever we can. We will be celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary here next August. Dinner consisted of an awesome Corsican wine picked for us by a very special Sommelier. Grilled baby artichoke, mint salsa verde. Olive oil poached zucchini, capers, oregano, grilled bread. Fettuccine, buffalo butter, parmigiano extra vecchio, black pepper. And lastly sheep’s milk ricotta filled occhi, bottarga, lemon. The expresso gelato was a perfect ending.

Gorgeous space, and great flavors top top to bottom. Really enjoyed our trip to Misi recently. Fantastic attention to detail in each and every single appetizer. Favs included Roasted Eggplant, Roasted Leeks, and the bucatini with Njuda pomodoro. Some dishes use too many of the same ingredients (capers, parsley mainly) But overall this is a high quality spot. Ranked on Beli as 9.2

It was good, but nothing special. The ambiance is light and airy, the staff is great, but the food is only okay. We ordered 2 apps and 3 pastas, and only really loved one of the five. If you go, don’t miss the tortelli!

My daughter wanted to go to this restaurant very badly. The food is absolutely heavenly. The decor did not disappoint. We ordered 2 appetizers and 3 pasta dishes. The service is impo. It is a must go restaurant.

My expectations for this restaurant were high given how difficult it was to book, but I have to be honest, the food didn’t quite live up to the hype surrounding it. Let’s start with the positives, the staff/hosts were friendly and chatty and set a great tone for first impressions. The server was also good and recommended a nice bottle of wine. There was a nice pace to the meal itself, and we didn’t feel rushed despite how busy the restaurant was. Now onto the food, the best dish by far was the spinach and mascarpone tortelli. The sheep’s milk ricotta occi was also very good, light and fresh, with a distinctive flavor. The ricotta toast was good though a bit one-dimensional after a few bites. The chittara was decent as well. The fettuccine was very unmemorable. And the worst dish by far was the anchovy linguine, it was unbearably salty and had to be returned. Overall, the food and service were good and I’m glad I gave it a try. Was the food truly memorable? No. Was it something I would want to return in a hurry for? Not necessarily, as there are tons of great Italian spots in NYC that you can get into much more easily.

Six of us went on a Saturday afternoon and had a great lunch. We shared 5 appetizers and 4 pastas, and everything was very tasty. We had 3 bottle of wine, one of which had sediment that they replaced with a glass of wine for the person who got it. Finished off with coffees and gelato. A great experience with a very good serving staff.

Very cool, happening new restaurant in Brooklyn. Service was awesome, open kitchen was amazing and great bar scene. We enjoyed the leeks and artichokes as antipasti and then the fettuccine with the white truffles, the pappardelle and the corzetti. And the olive oil gelato was a perfect finish. The cocktails and wine selection was fantastic as well.

To put it simply, I would walk back to eat here again!! We made sure to get a reservation just over two weeks in advance and it was the only slot left! We loved being able to see the fresh pasta being made, it was very cool! The atmosphere, service and music was very good! The food was absolutely brilliant and I hope a branch is opened in the UK!

We were wary of the hype, but had a lovely lunch at Misi. There's background music but not overwhelming as it is in many Williamsburg restaurants, and we could actlually have a conversation. I had the gem salad and fried artichokes which were delicious - very fresh, and my companion had the pasta with anchovies which he also liked. The space is very light, overlooking part of Domino Park and the Williamsburg Bridge - definitely worth a return trip. We ate at the bar overlooking the open kitchen, but next time I really want to snag a table looking towards the Bridge.

This was my second and last time at Misi. My today’s experience was disgusting and beyond frustrating. I ordered the clams pasta and there was a huge black hair on it. I complained and asked for another one OF COURSE. Instead of giving priority to my dish, they served all the tables around me and there I stayed waiting and waiting for a non-hairy pasta while the other people with me had their dishes. When the pasta came, there was no hair this time, but it was impossible to eat the clams. They were chewy. I just gave up. I just wanted to leave the restaurant. The manager only came to my table and apologized after I complained about waiting too long for the new dish. That is something she should have done by her own. But no one seemed to really care. No complimentary anything either. This was a NEVER GOING BACK experience!

Had an early dinner here sitting at the bar near the kitchen. The food overall was excellent including the cucumber appetizer. The ricotta toasts was very good as well. The main pastas were all flavorful We did order the steak special which was good and nothing special and was over cooked. Icecream was amazing. Service was attentive.

My daughters had dined here previously. We had tried to get a reso for Lilia but that process is infuriating so we opted for a very early time at Misi. The artichokes with salsa verde were terrific, inspired me to duplicate at home. We order 3 pastas, tortelli, linguini with anchovy and spaghetti with lamb. We couldn’t agree on the best but my fave was the lamb with the meat so moist and flavorful. We finished with 2 gelatos and both rivaled what we had in Italy, but we agreed the pistachio edged out the strawberry. Service was exceptional, so unobtrusive but very efficient. The interior is calming, in light tones but not sterile. There was a nice view of the park and skyline that will now be lost due to the construction of a high rise. That’s okay. You go to Misi for the food not the view.

Party of 6 arrived a bit past opening for lunch so we were seated promptly. We had a nice sampling of the menu despite one diner who didn't eat cheese and another that didn't eat nuts. For apps we had tomatoes, cucumbers, artichokes, runner beans, roasted peppers and ricotta crostini. What really impressed me was that all dishes were perfectly balanced in terms of acid, oil and herbs. The artichokes were particularly outstanding, as were the tomatoes which were treated to a oven roasting concentrating their flavors nicely. We followed the apps with three pasta dishes, corzetti (perfectly cooked), strangozzi (a bit to al dente for me but tasty) and fetticcine which was absolutely delicious, thin pasta with the perfect balance of cream, cheese and perfectly cooked. Not needing dessert BUT I opted for the pistachio gelato, just perfect and the other was an olive oil gelato which I didn't try. Service was excellent and relaxed. Wine was reasonably priced and if you're in the mood for red go for the primativo. It was a very pleasant experience, unfortunately my back was to the pasta making station where after service it was spotlessly cleaned. Excellent!!!

Went here for lunch on a hot Sunday afternoon. Happy to be seated promptly with no reservation, although the place was quite full. Really lovely bright open space with open kitchen, bar area overlooking kitchen and lots of young people. Pretty noisy I must say. The service was very welcoming and very attentive and friendly. Everyone was very gracious and attentive. The menu is fun - basically just salads and pastas. There were three of us and we shared two salads and two pastas and it was enough for us. If you are really hungry you will need full portions. Some might say the portions are small - they are certainly not large, but perfect for us. We had the lemon cucumber salad which was bright and crisp and fresh and alive with wonderful fresh herb flavors. The fried artichoke salad was scrumptious. We also had the spincach and ricott tortellini - very light and tasty. The dish with the pork ragu (can't recall the pasta name) was amazing. Wonderfully chewy al dente, great rich ragu flavors. We also had some gellato (even though we did not need it!) And it was very creamy and decadent. The bathroom could have been cleaner, and the door sticks and my wife had a really hard time closing it and getting it back open.

Amazing food prepared in the open kitchen, attentive service and a great vibe; with an edgy view of the Williamsburg bridge steelwork.

Misi did not disappoint. The food was absolutely amazing. I would have to say the best Italian food ever. The antipasti of artichokes, butter beans, and peppers were amazing. The spinach and ricotta pasta was out of this world. The gelato for dessert was the best ever. The customer service was A+ and all with a smile. Make sure you add Misi to your must do dining list when in NYC

I was taken to Misi as a Christmas gift and having heard how difficult it was to get a reservation, I was really pleased that my hosts had been able to secure a table. We were warmly received but when I asked where I could check my coat, I was told that the restaurant did not have a coat check but that I was welcome to keep my coat at my seat… well, duh, since there was no coat check, what other option was there.? The one thing I will say is that the staff is very well-trained, i.e., knowledgeable, and professional. And that is where the good news ends. Misi is like many other places that millennials and those who identify as foodies have deemed as a “must”. There must be a good profit margin as the owners did not invest in furniture… a lot of plastic. The most notable feature of the restaurant is the open kitchen, which is surrounded by the “Chef’s Table”, aka a counter that runs around the kitchen… it can easily seat 60 people so. For those wanting the experience of sitting at the Chef’s Table, don’t expect anything more special than sitting at the counter at a Greek diner in NY. We ordered three starters and three mains (pastas). There were some interesting recipes, but the problem was that none of the pastas arrived as anything other than at room temperature… clearly, they had been sitting for a very long time before they were brought to the table. It’s not worth the money nor the time to get there unless you live in Brooklyn (we were coming from the Upper West Side). For those visiting from out of town and with a limited number of days in NY, my advice is to go elsewhere. It was a tremendous disappointment. It is my understanding that it is one of Ina Garten’s favorite restaurants and that she has endorsed it… my guess is that Ina and Jeffrey are served food that is cooked and served at the right temperature. I felt terrible for my hosts who had worked so hard to get a regular table (vs a seat at the Chef’s table) and had spent a lot of money for the evening. It was SO not worth it.

The spinach marscapone tortellini and the amaretto ice cream were to die for. I thought the ricotta toast was a bit overrated, but pairing it with the tomatoes makes it delicious! Overall, not "worthy" of the immense hype, but the prices make it a worthwhile place to go!

We came to this restaurant adjacent to Domino Park with high expectations. After waiting half an hour past our 9 PM reservation time our party of six were seated in a semi private/ prep area. The interior has a clean, open ambience. The parade of all-vegetarian antipasti, including grilled apricot, artichoke, Swiss chard, asparagus, baby broccoli, fava beans and celery all tasted fresh, well-seasoned and beautifully plated. The rich ricotta crostini, especially, was a favorite. The picturesquely presented pasta dishes, however, were hits and misses. The sheep’s milk ricotta filled occhi was sublime. Ditto the spinach mascarpone filled tortelli. The mezzo rigatoni also was well-seasoned. The linguine con anchovy colatura, however, was excessively salty (even for someone used to fish sauce) with a gritty mouth feel. Others in our party wished their fettuccine and gnocchi came with more sauces. The evening was marred when one diner found a foreign object in her drink. The profusion of apologies from beginning to end of our dinner kinda spoiled an otherwise pleasant evening.

We dined here on a cold, weekday night. A reservation here has to be made one month in advance; we were excited to try this place. The restaurant is a decent walk from any of the nearby subway lines. The view of Williamsburg Bridge is lovely at night, across from the entrance of the restaurant, housed on the ground floor of a sleek, modern tower. There is a large, glassed room off the dining room where the pasta is made, visible from the street. The entrance leads into a busy host station. A few friendly staff were manning the host station, and after a friendly welcome, we were asked to wait about 10 minutes until we were seated. While waiting, we admired the open kitchen/counter seating area, as well as the main dining area, both modern with a spacious feel. For a large space, tables here are packed in. The dining room here is very loud due to the music on the speakers and the densely packed dining space. Our neighbors were literally shouting in order to converse. If the tables weren't so packed in, this could have been a romantic dinner spot. The menu here consists of about 10 appetizers options and 10 pasta options. The menu leaned heavily on vegetables, with a one seafood and one meat-based option on both lists. During the height of winter, one wonders why there wasn't a breadth of heartier options on offer. Why the lack of sausage, duck and shrimp on the menu? Appetizers run about $15 here and pasta dishes about $25. The size of servings is generous here. It's a good value for quality food and a glitzy setting. We ordered the roasted eggplant and the braised butter beans as appetizers. The eggplant was well cooked but under-seasoned. The beans were delicious, sauteed with kale and bacon. This was the standout of the four dishes we ordered. We chose the anchovy linguine and the tomato/pork sauce fettuccine. Both pasta were perfectly cooked, but the linguine was too salty, and this is from a big fan of anchovies. The tasty crispy sauteed toast was great mixed into the pasta, but I couldn't get passed the saltiness. The fettuccine was delicious, but it didn't blow us away. What did really impress was the olive oil gelato. Incredibly creamy and velvety, just the right amount of sweet with a touch of savory. This dessert was bliss in a glass. Service here is attentive but the server was not knowledgeable/couldn't explain the wine options or the beer options, and there are no descriptions, only brand names and places of origin. This was a recurring frustration. The menu was replete with names of esoteric Italian food items you will be forced to google. Restaurants should provide explanations of dishes that are comprehensible not cryptic. Wine lists should offer some hints of the wine's profile, especially if the wines are sources from lesser known regions. All in all, this is a good local neighborhood option. If you are not in or near Williamburg, I wouldn't bother making the trek here. The food is good but is not consistent in quality. It is, however, a good value, at $130 (tax and tip included) for a dinner for two, with a drink and a shared dessert.

Clearly pasta is the draw here and it did not disappoint. Both the pasta itself and the accompanying fillings and sauces were beautifully made and well judged. It is certainly at the top end price wise for this kind of food which whilst technical to make is relatively straightforward to cook. At about $25 plus service for each pasta dish on average, it doesn't feel particularly great value. It felt about 10-15% overpriced. Service was good other than the waiter asking me if I wanted change from the cash I'd paid with i.e. was I leaving him a 30%+ tip or not. I wasn't intending to be quite this generous and it was overly presumptuous on his part and left a bitter taste as I cannot stand this aggressive style of service. Overall very well made pasta in a restaurant with a nice local neighbourhood vibe.

Love this restaurant, the pasta is amazing, the vegetables are amazing and the servers are all PROS to say the least. This restaurant is a well oiled machine. I love it here and highly recommend.

Arrived to a buzzy , busy area .. asked to wait around reception, we went twice in 2 weeks .. because the vegetable starters were amazing .. try the long beans and butter beans .. the ricotta pasta was so good on the second visit we ordered 2 plates to share .. suggest if just 2 ask to sit overlooking kitchen . Tables are close and loud .. loved it

As a vegetarian, think it didn't live up to the hype or maybe I went with sky high expectations. It started with a smaller pour of my glass of wine because that was all in the bottle. The crostini bread was good, but the ricotta one dimensional. The fettuccine good, but basic. The spinach tortellini in brown butter was nice and the chickpea pasta just ok, but looked the best. My fave were the beans, a tad too salty for our palate. A decent hazelnut gelato, again a tad too salty for our palate. The place felt not the cleanest - as in the filters above the kitchen / the walls by where we sat all had greasy linty stuff.

Misi Robbins new pasta place in W-burg is terrific, as expected. Loved the chanterelles with rosemary garlic and lemon; the olive oil poached zucchini with capers oregano and grilled bread, linguini with anchovy, garlic, parsley, and colatura, and strangozzo with pork sugo, nutmeg and garlic. Plus fantastic gelato.

Chose to come to this restaurant because we read about the chef Missy Robbins. The place is very popular so reservation is recommended. The restaurant offers table sitting and kitchen sitting where you can watch everybody preparing the food. The menu options are excellent. All the appetizers are prepared with vegetables as the main ingredient such as artichokes, leeks, beans, eggplant, peas. All of them seemed delicious. We chose the white asparagus with guanciale(bacon made out of pork cheeks), black pepper and pecorino. It was excellent. The pasta dishes are very simple but made with fresh pasta. The simplicity of the dishes is what makes this restaurant special for me. I ordered the spinach and mascarpone filled tortelli with brown butter and ricotta salata. The tortelli were perfectly cooked and the spinach and mascarpone filling was very soft and delicate. I loved this dish. My husband ordered the strangozzi with pork ragú, nutmeg and parmegiano. The pasta was al dente. The sauce was delicious. The wine list is limited yet it offers a selection of Italian wines that are not commonly offered in other restaurants. The sommelier was very helpful in explaining the wines. All the 4 different wines that we ordered we very good. The dessert list is also limited but everything seemed to be very good. It offers a couple of homemade gelatos. I chose the pistachio gelato. It was one of the best gelato I’ve had. It tasted liked ice cream. The waitress explained to me that the pistachios are turned into a thick paste and they prepare the gelato with that paste. Overall, we had a great dinner experience in this restaurant. Highly recommended.

Misi was hands down amazing food and great service. Do not hesitate to visit just go! Beautifully fresh handmade delicate pasta and a wonderful menu.

As a frequent diner of Lilia, (the older sister restaurant) I've wanted to check out Misi for awhile. I finally had the chance yesterday after walking by Domino Park. Unlike Lilia, we didn't have a reservation but was promptly seated at the bar. The space is significantly bigger and brighter. There's also a pasta making room, very fun to watch. The staff here is very courteous as well. We ordered the ricotta foccocia and runner beans to start. We received the beans first and immediately noticed how generous the portion sizes here are. You definitely get more bang for your buck here. The beans were good but a bit too much citrus for my preference. After some time, the focaccia arrived. They were also enormous. We ordered the sheep's milk ricotta because we love the agnolotti at Lilia so much. We also got the anchovy linguine. Generally the pasta were cooked perfectly. The seasoning however, runs a bit earlier than I'd like it. I suspect it has something to do with the ever boiling pasta pot that as the water evaporates, the salt gets more intense and no one is readjusting. We finished with the pistachio gelato which was good. Overall Misi is good but not great. The time between courses is slow and the pastas are too salty. I think I'll stick with Lilia.

Although reservations are hard to come by, they have a very large kitchen bar that is fun to sit at that requires no reservations. The bar is two sided as well which helps with conversations. The food is classic presented with a focus on the ingredient. The food reminds me of the windows filled with plates of day you see at most good establishments in Italy. We shared several appetizers including some very delicious baby leeks and grilled bread with homemade ricotta. The pasta was perfectly cooked with more than 10 different offerings; all fresh. I can't wait to return!

We attempted a lunch despite no compatriot reviews. Very pleasant surprise on a hot summer day! Among the appetizers, the fennel and celery salad with Parmesan was very simple but very good and fresh, the famous ricotta croutons good but even better if eaten together with roasted peppers that come together. The eyes of ricotta with bottarga and lemon were very good and delicate (I would have maybe put a little more bottarga), the bucatini with tomato and nduja lacked a drizzle of sauce but they were good and the cooking was right, finally the half rigatoni with tomato were al dente, good sauce but among the three the most poor perhaps also for the American fixation to put so much garlic. Selection of Italian wines and craft beers, various bitters from the most popular to the niche ones. To ask we had a fior di latte ice cream that tasted just like milk and an espresso (it was made to drink). Very nice environment but a bit noisy given the open space. Total $200 in three.

Beautiful location with a pretentious, expensive menu. Uber chic, for the well heeled young NY foodie. Pasta has egg in it but a good vegetarian selection of food A complex dining experience for the sophisticated foodie

Rave reviews from the NY Times, etc., so off we went to this not easily accessible restaurant in Williamsburg with high expectations of a pasta epiphany. Well, that never happened. The food was okay, but not memorable, and the much-vaunted vegetable dishes were really overpriced and made with mediocre produce. I think Ryan Sutton of Eater.com is the only one who had the nerve to call this place out as an Empress's new clothes experience.

From an Italian missing home.. Great food, we had crostini as a starter, tortelli very delicate and strengozzi very full of flavour. Not a great service though.. the restaurant was cold from temperature and treatment point of you. You feel you are just a number and they need to push you out of the restaurant since the ordering till the bill. No bread neither as a supplement that is a must in an Italian restaurant.

We were able to get an early reservation for Sunday at the bar. Hannah our bartender/server was nice and professional, gave us recommendations on certain appetizers and which Sangiovese wine from Tuscany to choose from. We celebrated our 12th Wedding Anniversary and started off with a rounds of cocktails. For appetizers we had cherry tomatoes with spicy honey, whipped ricotta crostini with mushrooms, then shaved fried zucchini. Our entree pasta, my wife has the spinach/ricotta Tortellas and I had bucatini with n’dunja. And for dessert we shared a double chocolate chip gelato. They have normal tables, bar seating and even counter seating right in front of the kitchen. If you can snag a reservation, you must go!!!

Misi is one of my favorite places to dine. Why? The food is fresh and delicious! The staff, from the hostess to the bartenders, from the servers to the management, are on point! i never mind waiting an hour for a spot at the bar. I'm here at least once a week. Twice a week is not out of the norm too.

Ok, so the space is big and sterile, every single seat is used for patrons willing to pay for a meal, meaning no bar. So like cattle, you stand around a table and wait to be seated, even with a reservation, there was a disappointing wait. Based on the hype surrounding the restaurant and the price point, there should be no waiting around. I like a buzzy restaurant, but it was extremely loud, extremely warm and the chairs are uncomfortable. Again with the ridiculous wait to get in and the prices, people should at minimum feel comfortable. The appetizers were outstanding. The pastas disappointed. The waitress who seemed less experienced than one would expect to find at lets say their sister restaurant, recommended the corzetti which I found overly garlicky,, so much so it overpowered the other flavors of the dish. One of us had the strangozzi which was ordinary at best and another had the overly buttery and quite bland fettuccine. With full consideration that the pasta is not out of a box and their homemade pasta has a different texture than boxed pasta, it was over cooked. There was a very long wait in between courses and they didn't seem equipped to handle the amount of people trying to all have a pleasant dining experience at once. This is a classic example of an expansion and how much of the detail can fall through the cracks. Try for Lilia, better atmosphere, better menu, better service, better food.....better everything.

A really trendy and airy restaurant with a very interesting concepts. Only vegetarian starters but the creativity and freshness makes you want to try everything. Great for sharing. The white asparagus was phenomenal and generously portioned. The bucatini with San marzeno tomatoes was divine and the pasta the best ever. We also ordered the florentine steak but did it manage to eat it as it took another 45 mins. The manager was the best restaurant manager I have ever encountered. She managed the situation so impeccably and sent us home with the steak on the house and also sent us their divine olive oil gelato and mint gelato. I would love to go back and try all the other starters and pastas. Love this restaurant. A bit far to get to Brooklyn but well worth it.

Misi is one of the best Italian restaurants in NYC full stop. It's hard to get in but when you can make room in your schedule and get yourself over there! The vibes are good for friends or date night. The ambiance: 8/10, it's dimly lit a d good for a date night. The open kitchen is very cool if you're at the bar. Only downside is they don't have a coat check and if you're at the bar they don't have chairs you have to use a hook below the bad and it hands in the ground. The food: 10/10, it's off the charts good. In the conversation for the best pasta in NYC. The drinks: we had wine and it was a nice soft red to compliment powerfully flavored pastas The service: 9/10, our waiter was kind, attentive and informative. He was great! Overall, A+. This place rocks, everybody knows it which is why it's hard to get in. Overall awesome. One thing I'd note, there were bar seats open all night, so if you're in the area it's worth an attempt at walking in. They may say no, but worth a shot.

We visited at lunch time on a weekday and were able to get a table at the bar in front of the kitchen. These are great seats, sit here if you can. So fun to watch the sous chef making the pesto and preparing the appetizers. Our server was SO knowledgeable about both the wine list and the menu. He had great recommendations. The appetizers and the pasta entrees were all incredible. Very fresh and very delicious. A great dining experience in terms of both atmosphere and food. Loved it!!

Visiting NYC from the UK last week, and we were delighted to visit Misi's. We were sat at the kitchen counter, watching the talented, and very friendly team of professionals at work. Missy was there too, and unlike Erik at Llama Inn, she doesn't do a little sweep to meet and greet and receive compliments for herself and her team. Maybe it's not her style, and that is fine, but it is a nice touch sometimes. As I said, the kitchen staff had a real sense of focus, care and pride in their work, but also a warm sense of camaraderie. I didn't feel this extended to the front of house. The hostesses on the door were efficient rather than welcome. We felt rather "processed" with a "can you seat These Two over there?". Language should be chosen more carefully I feel. Our waiter, John, was efficient also but a little more friendly and looked after us very well. I don't know if this efficiency is what Missy Robbins aspires to, but Italian cooking is hospitality based and I feel if this place warmed up a little in terms of front of house, it would be a very memorable experience. The food was simply conceived, which I mean as a compliment as the ingredients were beautifully sourced, paired and presented. Tasty, fresh and well balanced. I had the Sour Negroni which was delicious, and the wines too were very well chosen. A very nice evening. I much preferred the Llama Inn the following evening, which had incredible freshness but with such friendly service from all. Either way Williamsburg, you're lucky to have two excellent restaurants, and I hope other enjoy them as much as we did. Thank you.

amazing Pasta! amazing service! amazing wine list! amazing time! We had a very nice time with some friends. Thank you Misi Team

FIRST OF ALL... don't get me wrong, food is good HOWEVER THE MANAGER, the fact that all the hostesses and staff are afraid of manager is pathetic! We were 6 adults and 2 small children. He first made a fuss that they can't give an extra chair due to fire hazard... meanwhile room next to us had 50 grown men stuffed in a small cubicle and that's not a fire hazard??? Then said he will allow us a chair but we can ONLY order pasta NO appetizers. WTF?? when we wanted one of each appetizer which means more $$ for establishment the waiter called over manager who claims we need to order TWO OF EACH! Then said the chefs can't handle a table of 8 hence WHY MİSİ RESTAURANT NEVER TAKES RESERVATIONS OF 8. Does any of this make sense to you? Attitude attitude stress aggravation.... ITS NOT WORTH the risk of aggravation. Yes pasta is good but it's better to go elsewhere WHERE YOU FEEL WELCOMED, appreciated, and where managers and waiter staff know the true meaning of "HOSPITALITY "

I’ve been seeing pictures of Misi’s iconic ricotta toast for years, and decided to finally check out the place. Overall, it was an awesome dining experience. We sat at the chef’s counter, which I highly recommend. The ricotta toast was creamy and scrumptious. The braised artichokes were also very fresh and delicious. Tortelli was quite good as well, though I wasn’t the biggest fan of the anchovy pasta (even though that was our server’s recommendation). The ultimate star of the show, in my opinion, was the olive oil ice cream. I’d make the trek out to Williamsburg all over again just for that.

Our last full day in NYC and we were Brooklyn-bound for a good food lunch and good vibes. Misi does not disappoint. Lovely to meet the owner, sit at the counter and watch the awesome staff in action. Cool vibe, interesting dynamic with the owner arriving...discovered it was menu change over day...the rigorous approach clearly produces great outcomes. Thanks for the welcome Misi and the great lunch.

Great lunch with friends! We ordered the ricotta crostini, artichokes and eggplant. Very tasty and fresh. My favorite were the charred peppers that accompanied the crostini. The pastas were perfect! The fettuccine had just enough butter and cheese. The spinach and mascarpone cheese tortellini were perfect bites! Service was a bit lacking for such an early lunch and they forgot to pack up our leftovers but maybe it was just an off day. Will go back!

Great decor, good service and a nice by the glass wine list. The starters/appetizers were terrific, but the dinner choices were limited and didn’t love the gnocchi.

This place should be great. But both antipasti were swimming oil. We told the waitress and she said "uh-huh" the claimed the oil added flavour. One pasta dish was brilliant, one was just full of salt. We told the waitress and she said "uh huh". She didn't seem to care in the least about her job. Then was surprised when we didn't leave a tip (we're British - we don't tip when the service is bad), and even told my husband we HAD to tip. What a shame what should have been a good experience was ruined by oil & a stroppy waitress.

Of the dozen meals we had in New York this was my favorite. The service was by far the best. Mason, our server, was very young but more knowledgeable than any other server we encountered in 5 days here. He gave excellent recommendations, knew the wine list, the ingredients and food preparations. The chefs at the antipasti counter where we sat were also lovely and told us their favorites. The whipped ricotta crostini with ramps was magical (they should serve with a serrated knife though) and the chard app was phenomenal. Pastas were among the best I have had and wine was excellent. Started with a Lambrusco, and then a Chenin blanc and a red (can’t recall) all were perfectly paired and wonderful. Olive oil gelato was off the hook. My husband loved this place too and he’s a hard sell. Will make a point to come back.

Misi is outstanding. Me and my family went to this restaurant for dinner and we couldn’t have left any happier. We ordered exactly 8 plates (including entries) and they were ALL absolutely delicious. As for the ambient, it was great. Cozy atmosphere. The service was incredible indeed! Our order was rapidly delivered and our waitress of the night Leandra was delightful! We’ll surely look forward to visiting Misi again. 10/10 Pasta recommendations: Fettuccine Tortelli Occhi

I live in the neighborhood and my bf convinced me we must try this famous place. Reservations are near impossible to get online, with rare exceptions of really late hours at the kitchen counter. I love great pasta so we finally got a res around 5 pm at the kitchen table. The restaurant is pretty large by NYC standards. It is a California style large open space, very airy, great natural lighting. It is also very modern: white, steel, wood. Service was attentive and prompt. They also handled a special request very well. I asked to have a craft cocktail augmented to a simpler version, and my request was accommodated. In fact, I wish they had a bar only option. The bartender was superb! Now to the less pleasant part of my review. Unfortunately the food was really disappointing. The pasta itself was appropriately al dente. But the dishes were all extra salty and doused in lemon juice. I ordered malloredus pasta - it was presented in a curry liquid so I knew it was not going to be a traditional pasta type sauce. Unfortunately all I could taste in my dish was lemon juice. It killed all other flavors. There were also tons of nuts in it. I was offered a replacement dish but I declined. I asked for garlic and pepper, and was able to balance out the flavor. My friend had the same issue. His pasta dish was really not good, very salty, and he accepted the offer of replacement. The replacement was less salty but it was fairly tasteless and lemony, again with lots of nuts. The best dish was a roasted zucchini, again with nuts. It wasn’t special but it was the only one that actually tasted ok. It pains me to write this but this restaurant is a total bust. They simply don’t know how to cook! Another observation: although it is so hard to get a res, they had plenty of open tables. The kitchen bar area filled up very quickly but as long as we were there, it looked like 75% of the tables remained vacant. Not sure if it’s part of their PR scheme but clearly they have a lot more availability than they let us believe.

We had lunch at Misi. My daughter has been many times but it was our first time. We first ordered their version of a spritz which was deliciously refreshing on a hot day. We got a couple salad/vegetable dishes to start and they were perfectly balanced with texture and flavors. We shared four different pasta dishes all outstanding, I only wish I could have eaten more. Even their gelato, although not quite traditional was very good and paired perfectly with one of their many uncommon amaro selections. I will definitely return here as often as I can.

Misi is outstanding. People come here for the pasta and it is outstanding---especially the leek pesto pasta and linguini with anchovy. Yet, the appetizers are as good as any pasta dish---eggplant, peppers, and baby artichokes. The wine list offers very reasonable options. And what makes it all so enjoyable is the outstanding service and help provided by the sommelier, waiters and even the host. Well done!!!

We had a reservation at 5:30 PM. We got there at 5:25. The front door was open so we walked in. We were scolded for coming five minutes to early and told to go wait outside. I asked if we could stand inside since it was so warm outside and we were told to go stand in a corner so as not to bother anyone. Tried ordering wine and the waiter had a very superior and snotty attitude about the blind questions I was asking. When I try to order wines for low $100 you could see the tension in his face.We ordered two appetizers and they were quite wonderful. But everything else was absolutely a disaster. The meal I ordered did not declare that it was dairy free. Neither on the menu nor did the waiter tell us. And apparently I had the nerve to insult the meal by asking for cheese. They refused to provide me cheese for my food. Yet when I asked for salt that was provided. The waiter wouldn’t even deal with it and got a manager. The manager was absolutely worthless. We did have that meal removed from the menu however it still cost $150 to get out of there with extremely poor service and mediocre dinner meals for my two friends. Don’t ever go there.

Visiting NY from the UK to meet a friend who had tried to get evening reservations but seemed to be always full so we went for lunch instead! Lovely venue, bone whites, pattern charcoal tile flooring, calm but not sterile. Frank our server was great, calmly spoken, very knowledgeable of the menu and wines. We took a couple starters, the little gem salad with a lovely hazelnut touch to it. The yummy butter beans with a little soft chilli heat was so good we asked for bread to mop up the wonderful food. Even the bread was amazing, warmed if not griddled bread with olive oil was great. We went with a more unusual white, Frank supplied tasters of a couple of choices, excellent. Mains were a lamb spaghetti and my friends was a lemony pasta with garlic hints (I’m not doing it justice here) but both scrumptious and are plates were spotless...! We shared a gelato...heavenly....then coffees and I have to say how rare it is to get a meal you can’t fault in anyway but Misi for us, did that! Tables kept clean after courses, water guy was unobtrusive so clearly the whole team is well trained and informed! If only I lived closer....!

All four of us had high expectations here, having been to Lilia multiple times. First, the atmosphere and service are wonderful, but the pastas weren't as good as expected. Yes, they are handmade but a bit too al dente this night. We tried the Chitarra, pork sugo, brown butter tortelli, and the pomodoro, which was had an unfortunate dose of heat added to it(?!). Why?? The vegetables were much better, especially the cauliflower and butterbeans. Oh, and the crostini with whipped ricotta looked like a glob of whipped cream and overpowered the little crostini. Finally, all that was on the dessert menu was ice cream, nothing else. Really disappointed.

If you are a pasta lover, they have some great fresh pasta. For those who prefer proteins, they did had a ribeye too. This place is very hard to get a reservation for. Very hard. And honestly I don’t get it. People who were with us prefer Lilia. Same owner, Misi is newer. Wine list is okay. Nothing special either. All wines that are too young to serve now.

Yhere is no meat here but you dont need any, all prepared fresh and tastes fresh, had the grilled bay artichokes , and butter squash raviolis, so much flavor you want to keep eating and eating even if your full. Open kitchen so you see all the action. Counter and table seating as well as a bar. Great location by brooklyn bridge that you actually see from your seat. The the gelato desert is closest I have found to Italy's quality, taste and texture. I had the postacio, you should also, and a secret tip you can get one to go for $5, but you wont see that on the menu. I was tipped off by kitchen worker at the counter. We shared both dishes and we left full, hence tje gelato to go

What a beautiful restaurant located at Domino Park. Your view is the Williamsburg Bridge and the river or you can watch the glassed in area where people are prepping your pasta. Every entrée we had was innovative and delicious ,it’s not cheap ,but for a special meal it’s well worth it.

In my thirties this would have been a big turn on for me. Nope! I love the zoning law changes that make this a possible venue for real estate developers, but I’ve seen this over and over again. Service was lame and not intelligent, the cooking was on point, without question, but simple pasta dishes: we’ve seen time again. It’s a counter that I will visit for pasta and wine, but never consider this place for serious cooking- (the waiter has never heard of Sicilian wine) Solo check. 300 dollars.

I have been to eat here several times and it’s very very good. My wife was visiting from the uk and we managed to get on the waiting list … I thought let’s go and maybe have a drink until the off chance a table becomes available. Turned up and the man on the reservation desk acknowledged we were 1st on the waiting list but advised against waiting just in case we went hungry ???no one else waiting ?he seemed as if he didn’t want anymore customers (this was 8.10 btw) This worker should not be working customer facing .

My husband and I have been a loyal customer at Misi Pasta for 6 years, but after this recent experience, we plan to never go back. What was supposed to be a special Sukkot and welcome celebration dinner with our family visiting from abroad turned into a nightmare. It all started with a mistake made by Misi staff on our reservation. We clearly told them during booking (made 3/4 weeks in advance in person) that our party would consist of 2 kids (under age 10) and 6 adults—yet when we arrived, they had us down as a party of 7. The kids (twins) are both under age 10, eat kosher, and would only eat plain pasta boiled in water with salt. But the restaurant manager seemed incapable of understanding this basic dietary restriction request and accommodating such a simple request. Upon arrival, first my mother in law was kept waiting standing (60 year old woman) without being offered a chair and then later I had to stand for 15 minutes with no seat, no hospitality, while the Misi staff tried to figure out their mistake with the manager. Not once were we offered a chair, even though my husband and I have been loyal customers since Misi opened. Eventually, the staff told us we couldn’t sit at our chosen table due to a “fire hazard,” even though there was a private room next to us filled with 20-50 people cramped together—a much bigger fire hazard if you ask me! After keeping us waiting another 10 minutes, the manager insisted (without accepting their reservation mistake and without trying to be accommodating to our family) that we needed to order double dishes with a maximum of 4 dishes because it will put a "strain on the kitchen." He basically came to our table and told us what we can and cannot order. The manager's audacity and privileged attitude were astonishing, as he approached our table of 8 and dictated what we were allowed to order. This level of disregard for customer choice is unacceptable and something we have never encountered before in our life. This is despite us clearly stating that the kids would ONLY be eating plain pasta due to their kosher diet. He completely ignored the fact that we were ordering for 6 adults and that the kids’ food request was incredibly simple. Apparently, plain pasta “puts a strain on the kitchen.” And ordering all 6/7 flavors Gelato's on the menu for dessert—which is simply scooped by one person in the back kitchen—was somehow also a strain? Ridiculous! When things got heated- the Misi staff were in corners giggling by the bar and gossiping about the whole situation which made us as guests feel more unwelcome. The Misi when it first started, and the one I used to know was humble, welcoming, and considerate. Over the years- its become very stuck up. Most of the time we put up with all the "rules" and bad hospitality just because we enjoyed the pasta. Now, they act like they know better than their customers, dictating what you can and can’t eat. This experience was the last straw (and a major discriminatory behavior by the manager when he clearly dismissed the fact that the kids are not eating from the menu) that left a sour taste in my mouth and my family's. I’m so disappointed that a place we once loved has now become so pretentious, inhospitable, unwelcoming and dismissive by the people who are supposed to be representatives of the brand Misi. We won’t be returning. The Misi chapter has ended for us.

We just rolled in at 10pm and got seated immediately in a prime location looking over the action at the stoves. . . .sometimes things just work out. The appetizer vegetables, the pasta, the wine, and the olive-oil gelato were all very good but not transporting. frankly the five-stars here is a function of the lovely overall experience we had. if we had waited 30 minutes and sat in a dark corner, the food alone would probably have earned four stars.

I’m married to an Italian and lived in Rome for many years so know a fair bit about pasta - so heard about Misi and thought we should pay it a visit - People were raving about it. What a disappointment. My pasta - pork revue was unforgettable, my husband’s - an anchovy linguini - not very good. The olive oil ice cream was surprisingly good - sublime actually I must admit - but we hadn’t gone to Misi for the ice cream... Overall I would say forget this place and head up to Antica Pesa at 155 Berry Street. You’ll get the best bowl of pasta in Brooklyn and you won’t have to wait in line for 90 mins for it. (We had a table booked at Misi and still had to wait 30 minutes...on a Friday night it’s a circus.

Freshest Italian pasta I have had. Lovely, educated, polished, professional service. Beautiful decor. Memorable flavors and an excellent wine list. The appetizer with red peppers and thick bread is something I will never forget. The eggplant appetizer is gorgeous. NY media is raving about it but they are not over-hyped. It is a quality experience that won't break the bank, and you will know you have had a real local meal that is what makes NYC America's best food city. Take a walk in Domino Park along the water after dinner for a complete experience.

Excellent, friendly staff. Modern Italian decor and very comfortable. Sommelier reviewed wine list and made good recommendations. The appetizers and main courses were all excellent. We had a wonderful ladies day out lunch here and will definitely go back.
Delicioso!!!!!!!
Everything was delicious. AMAZING food and AMAZING service. Will go again!!!!!! We had a great table with the view of the Williamsburg bridge. Our waiter was terrific. I wish I could remember his name. He worked the table of 6 to the right of the restaurant when you first walk in the place. Directly across from the food counter. It was Friday, May 10. 8pm reservation.
