We thought we ordered too much, but...

By ChitoD |

We thought we ordered too much - 6 dishes for the 4 of us. But barely any left-overs. We had Beef Jerky papaya salad, Imperial rolls (cha gio do bien), Chicken pho soup (Mien Ga), Vermicelli w/ Grilled pork (Bun this nuong Cha), Shaken beef (mi toi bo luc lac) and Com Tay Cam (shrimp claypot). All good, especially the last 3 dishes; beef was very tender. The Vietnamese coffee was also excellent. Just a heads-up - parking can be a challenge unless you come around 6 pm, when street parking is allowed. The restaurant is located in a changing, but improving part of the city; not exactly your typical upscale neighborhood so guests are encouraged to be aware of surroundings. But once inside the restaurant, once can relax and enjoy a good meal; very friendly and courteous staff. Average cost: $ 15 per before drinks and taxes.

Criminal behaviour - avoid this restaurant!

We visited this place on New Year’s Day and enjoyed an ok meal but when it came to pay my phone indicated to me that 2 transactions came out of our AMEX card - when my husband showed this to the owner he assured us that he had only taken the Payment once. We have later found out that indeed he did take this payment twice and since we were leaving early the next day we were unable to sort this out in person - we certainly will be following this up with AMEX and hope to get $118 Back - please be vigilant when paying by credit card!

Dinner

Had Pho soup. Well done and great customer service. Nice evening meal and wonderful Pho. Would recommend to friends.

Amazing

By bakersmt |

I have tried a lot of dishes here and everything is a win! We went there for dinner once and the decor is pretty unique. Due to late nights at the office we have been getting delivery lately and everything is still spot on. Delivery is more expensive due to an outside service but the prices for the meals are really cheap for what you get.

Quick lunch

By Bndot |

Very good. The shrimps was nicely done. Prices decent. Service quick and efficient. I recommend highly to stop if you are around.

Worth the detour

By troketia |

Took me right back to Vietnam and made an excellent break from regular American food and food places. Authentic Vietnamese food!

Tasty food and great service

By AndySteel |

We had a really good dinner - tasty noodles and spring rolls. The service was great, friendly and fast. I think it was value for money as well and we were stuffed walking out. The staff even gave us complimentary desserts to go which was really kind

Very good soups

I was in San Francisco for 4 days and went to miss Saigon 3 times and every time I was fully satisfied. Very very good soups!

Very Vietnamse Restaurant

By The Baobab Republic |

A very Vietnamese restaurant in San Francisco, California. The name MISS SAIGON is very lovely, very Vietnamese. The restaurant's food was delicious: we had fried chicken, fish soup, and a few more. We also like the fish sauce with chili, very Vietnamese. Interesting experiment.

What a menu!!

By pvbflorida |

Simply the best Vietnamese food I have ever had. Everything was fresh and the service was top notch.

Delicious! Loved my meal here!

By Jeni H |

Visited here with family who live in San Francisco and who eat here often. I can understand why they do. Loved the food here. I tried the summer rolls, Ga Xao Khom (with tofu instead of chicken), and a beef dish that I can't remember the name of. All were delicious and fresh. Look forward to exploring more of the food here!

Always Good!

By mmb198 |

We hadn't been back for a few years, as we live elsewhere, but tried Miss Saigon for lunch. The pho was delicious with such great flavor! We had other items as well, which were all good. We'll definitely be back when in town.

Unique interior, wonderful food

By Mirko |

The inside of this restaurant is a colorful attack to all senses, a wild explosion of kitsch that (amazingly) works. Combined with a weird soundtrack (The Godfather theme was playing at one point), it makes for an interesting lunch or dinner setting. The place is usually packed, and I’m not surprised given the quality of the food - it’s downright delicious.

Great food, good value.

By meredith b |

They offer all that you may want. Quick, clean, tasty. Try the papaya salad. The lunch special is a good deal. I frequent often.

One of the have-to-try Vietnamese Restaurant

By DranaiNguyen |

I love there Com tay cam and Hue spicy noodle. I am sure that in SF it is too difficult to eat any better hue spicy noodle than Miss Saigon. Try it if you visit.

No More Gatekeeping

By A B |

The most DELICIOUS fried egg rolls in SF. The pho is also my favorite in the city. If you have to choose a place to eat pho, this is it. Food is always consistent 10/10!

Pho-cking fantastic!

By asherp82 |

One of the cheapest meals I had in SF, was also one of the tastiest! I had the Pho with the filet mignon. The meat was super tender and the soup was delicious. Hands down, the best Pho I've had so far!

Best Pho EVER

By ALC |

We were in San Franciso for three days, and ate here twice! With all of the variety to choose from in the city, that should tell you something. Go order the 17b- filet mignon pho. It's the absolute truth. It's the best I've ever had. My boyfriend lived in Vietnam and he said that it rivaled the best he ate over there. The service is fast, the spring rolls are magical too, and the atmosphere is funky. I will eat the pho at Miss Saigon every single chance I can when I visit San Fran. Go forth. Seriously. Now.

Simple yet delicious

By Carla HM |

My friend and I had a bowl of vermicelli noodles with pork, was very tasty. Affordable as well. You even get a complimentary bowl of soup to start. Smells a little weird when you first walk in but we were satisfied!

Delicious

By markmd |

With the possible exception of a fast food establishment, I don't think food has ever arrived at our table as quickly as it did at Miss Saigon. And it was very good. The only error that we made in ordering is that our two dishes were too similar; mine was beef with eggplant in a brown sauce while my wife's was tofu in brown sauce. Otherwise, no complaints.

Fantastic!!

By Mooeuk |

This place is great! I had the summer rolls to start which were just so delicious and fresh, my boyfriend had a pancake which he really enjoyed. We both had variations of noodle soup for mains which were very nice. I had the tofu and veg one which had loads of fresh broccoli in it, just what I needed after indulging in a bit too much greasy fast food this holiday! Just be warned that the appetisers are generous and we are good eaters but could have (and probably should have!) shared a starter! Really nice friendly staff and at $36 for the amount and quality of food we had this was an absolutely fantastic find. Shame we discovered it on our last night in the city as would have definitely gone again.

Good food, good price but very sliw

By Lori H |

We stopped in for dinner at a busy time. We waited 20 minutes to order and another 30 for part of our food to arrive. We all had standard soup or noodle dishes. Everything tasted great but we were finished with our meal before the remaining items (salad and sandwich) arrived. The waitress was very polite and kindly canceled the remaining items from our bill. I would definitely go back again.

Don’t judge a book by its cover

By Kathy B |

Miss Saigon might not look like much, but the food is excellent and a meal here won’t break the bank. My daughter has travelled extensively in Vietnam and gave all our dishes the thumbs up.

Tasty and afforable

By guido h |

We had great service and delicious meals. The decor was a little dated, but who cares when food is cheap and tasty!

Delicious Vietnamese. Great lunch spot. Delicious, quick, and inexpensive.

By Ian J |

I am always on the hunt for good Vietnamese food. This is the best I've found in SF so far. I prefer coming here to the popluar Golden Star Restaurant in Chinatown, which feels more like a greasy spoon diner. We tried the Cha Gio, the Summer Rolls, the Bun Thit, and the Pho Bo. Everything was great. The decor was silly and fun. The music was awesome (Vietnamese versions of classic pop songs). The food here won't change your life... but it will hit the spot!

Great lunch

By Michael B |

A step up from a hole in the wall, but with delicious food served to hungry crowds by a very friendly family.

Affordable Clean Vietnamese Restaurant in 6th St

By playgecko |

This place is not far from where I work. Despite the dirty area of the city, this place is soooo clean. The food is above average but for the price it very good value, especially during lunch They are very friendly and always try their best to serve you. What a change to see such a service after being in so many Asian restaurant where you just don't expect their service at all. I give two thumbs up to their team effort to serve costumers.

Like a Roller Coaster...!

By Quasarsoujourner01 |

It was close to dinner time, and I was near Civic Center and Mission in San Francisco. So I decided to seek out some Vietnamese food. Instead of going to "Little Saigon" town near Civic Center, I went to "Miss Saigon" restaurant on 6th Street, I went in and there was no server around, though there were a few customers. Since I was solo, I found a table and sat down. Went through the menu and decided to have dry silver noodle with egg and some vegetable. It was a while before one of the worker saw me there. Though there were people coming in to pick up their take out orders. Finally, someone provided me a glass of water. The server came and took my order, which was simple by number. Then I also order Thai Ice Tea with Boba. It took a long while before my order came as there was not too many customers sitting at the time. I counted 5 other persons besides me. Then the order came and I looked at the bowl of noodle. It was skimpy! Not much vegetables or any trade of an egg as depicted in the menu! I didnt point it out to the server. The Thai Tea saved the day! The tea was very good with the Boba! I dont know. The going much be good with "Miss Saigon". For sure, the food preparation has gone down hill, since my last two visits! Very disappointing.

Best Pho

By Simone S |

If you crave a good Vietnamese this place is a little gem. We really enjoyed our meals - the ingredients were really fresh and flavours were on point. It is reasonably priced and we would definitely go back again. The area felt a little rough (we were there at night) but nothing to be worried about as it is only a block away from the main street.

Fabulous Pho

By MMM_and_MPM |

Miss Saigon is located a few blocks from the movie theaters. We were able to find street parking. Although the neighborhood is a bit dicey, the restaurant was warm and inviting. The restaurant was busy with diners and a huge carry out business. Christmas decorations covered every wall and Christmas music added to the holiday spirit. We dined on Spring Rolls (Goi Cuon), Chicken Wings (Canh Ga Chien Nuoc) and Chicken Pho with extra vegetables (Pho Ga with Rau Cai). It was fresh and delicious and just the right food for a cold, rainy day. Very enjoyable and among the best Pho that we have eaten.

Vietnamese delight

By Richard H |

Really enjoyed a meal with work colleagues at Miss Saigon. Found it quite by accident, near our hotel. Delicious food and very nice service at this no frills restaurant. And at a very reasonable price. Warmly recommend to anyone.

Don't let the outside fool you.

This is a popular place with Vietnamese- always a good sign. Generous portions, large menu selection, clean, attentive staff (though the change from my bill wasn't given).

For such a "bad" surrounding area, it is a bright, clean and friendly-staffed place. Average food but will return to try other items.

Surprise! Lovely.

By Terry J |

Don't let the location and outer appearance sway you from stepping inside this lovely restaurant. Food was expertly prepared and delicious. Very authentic. Affordability was a great plus. GO!

Tasty and good vaue

By Volker K |

Fresh and tasty. Service was good, not extraordinary. would always come again for the food. The area around 6 th street is not nice in the evening hours.

Great food close to market street but far enough away!

By Ami S |

Outside does not match inside. You can almost miss it if you aren't specifically looking for it. Great Bahn mi and spring rolls. Recommended!

Authentic Viet flavours

By Anntec |

We visited on a Friday night and shared spring rolls and seafood served on Crunchy rice in a clay pot . It was very filing . My husband had a nice glass of red . I felt a bit apprehensive walking down sixth street as it seemed we had entered a shadier side of town but it was fine and did not detract from our visit . The wait staff were delightful and even though it was busy the service was fast . Would definitely return . It also was very clean inside and no sooner had each table been vacated it was cleaned

Fine Pho!

By Mikeview |

Based upon other Trip Advisor reviews, my wife and I had lunch here today (11/25/14) and truly enjoyed our meals. She had Pho Ga, a mild chicken based soup, and I had Bun Bo Hue, a spicy beef and pork soup. Both were generous portions and cost less than $9 each. She also ordered an extra plate ($1.50) of sprouts, cabbage, jalapeño peppers and basil to add to her soup, but these really turned out to be unnecessary since the soup was already very flavorful (and these could have been requested after the soup was tasted). Miss Saigon sits at the corner of 6th and Mission streets and as others have commented this is a real run down part of the city with lots of weird, but harmless characters in the area. The inside of the restaurant is clean and colorfully decorated and looks out-of-place for this neighborhood. Nonetheless, with the good food and friendly service, it is definitely worth a try. As an added treat, they also have a Vietnamese beer, Tiger, available in a 11.2 oz bottle, along with several attractive choices.

Good food not to be missed

By yvr1 |

Went there for an early dinner. The interior will have you thinking you are in Vietnam. Large menu with a huge selection to choose from.. Reasonable prices, friendly staff. This is a family owned business and their friendly and gracious attitude will make you feel at home One minus is the location. On 6th Street between Market and Mission. The sidewalks are filled with the homeless. Don't let that put you off, walking would be ok during the day, taxi at night.

Great Dim Sum

By mmn417 |

Went with a group of friends in the early evening. We went through the dim sum menu and ordered more than four of us could eat, but everything was very good. I will go back next time I visit San Francisco.

Really delicious and large portions! Fast service!

By Gregory Paron |

Delicious food. Very large portions. Fresh ingredients and very fast. We ordered. I went to wash my hands came back and the food came a few minutes later! Would recommend and come back here again!

Great Pho!

By mmb198 |

Read the Tripadvisor reviews and thought I'd give it a try. The neighborhood isn't that great, but it was lunchtime so even though I was by myself, the restaurant itself seemed okay from the outside. Inside is nothing special, but this place does a lot of business. By noon, the line was out the door. Everyone seemed to have some kind of pho. That's what I had, and it was very good. Reasonably priced. I'll be back next time I'm in town.

Loved it!

By Caroletoli |

Loved everything. Charming vietnamese restaurant. Very good food (papaya salad, rolls, bun...), friendly staff, affordable, could be my second home if I was living in SF ;-)

Time to Check Back!

By Quasarsoujourner01 |

It was a cloudy Sunday afternoon, and one of many marathons just completed. The large crowd were still hanging around Civic Center where there was food and music. I leave the Main Library and Larkin Street and drive three blocks to Miss Saigon for a late lunch. I could have gone to Sam's, Burger King, etc. around the Civic Center area. However its been a while since I visited this restaurant. Sixth Street and Mission area is not really a tourist area. Many of the people lived in SRO hotels and many are on welfare assistance for many reasons ( temporary out of work, medical, etc.) This restaurant 's front door is on the corner of Sixth and Mission! Once inside the restaurant, its another environment. It takes one to a quiet peaceful place. This afternoon the background music played were sounds form the Eighties! There were a few customers this late Sunday afternoon. I then ordered Vietnamese vermicelli with grilled pork, egg rolls, and vegetables. and a glass of water. The order came not too long. It took me about ten minutes to finish my late lunch. The bill came. Ah, the price has gone up at least a dollar or two. It used to be around nine dollars. Now the bowl of noodles came to 11 dollars ,not including tax and tips. Its still a cheap lunch.

Perfect like the original!

By Tal S |

The restaurant is not far from Westfield mall. My husband and I enjoyed two Pho with filet mignon and it was delicious !!! The best we had since we were in Vietnam! Also liked the Papaya salad with tofu. The staff is very nice and inviting and the prices are reasonable:)

Great take out

By Brit T |

We got take out from here. Service was friendly and fast. Food was delicious and the serving was large. Would definitely recommend for an inexpensive and tasty meal.

Tasty Pho!

By Catherine M |

I was craving Vietnamese food during my travels in the United States when I stumbled across this place. The decor, although dated, was perfect for it's overall vibe and atmosphere. I ordered the beef vietnamese noodle (pho) and my friend ordered the beef fried rice. Both meals were served extremely quickly, the sizes were large and tasty. The prices were also very reasonable.

Funky & Fabulous

By alrog4 |

Came here for a late lunch. It is quite the surprise when you find the restaurant and come inside. Exceptional service and food is wonderful. Yellow curry was very flavorful.

good food and service

By JesyHitesh |

though the neighborhood is a bit sketchy , this place has some good (not excellent ) authentic Vietnamese food ...cozy environment , friendly service ...menu options are good with overall value for money

Fresh, hot and clean.

By Quicklier |

My partner and I each had Pho (one Bo, one Ga), both were super-fresh and delicious. Sure the interior is a bit kitch, but it's a Vietnamese restaurant where most things are $10. Look past the decor, pile on the chilli and get stuck in!

A Sense for Warm

By Quasarsoujourner01 |

San Francisco morning was hit with a heavy rain, as we tried to shop for Thanksgiving and other needs. After dropping spouse off of downtown. I was in need of something warm. I decided to drop by this Vietnamese restaurant on 6th Street and Mission Street, Knowing there's warm noodle soup. The place was packed at 12:30 pm when I went in alone. There must have been over 50 people in the restaurant. I ordered beef rice noodle and 10 minutes later it came piping hot! One could order a large bowl or a small one. My was a small bowl and it was already too much for one person. The bill came to $8.70, before tip. I left a good one for the server Caution: 6th Street is a rough neighborhood, and I would only eat there for lunch and not dinner at night.

Though located in sketch-ville, good authentic Vietnamese food

By Knoxy-SF |

I wanted to give this place 3.5 stars, but given the options, I went with a solid 3-star rating. It's really *not* in a desirable micro-neighborhood on the corner of 6th & Mission. It's not even 'up-and-coming' yet. And the only reason we sought this place out is because a foodie friend recommended it. But once inside (& beyond the out-of-place mannequin positioned to great guests at the front door), the food and service are worth the effort. Given I am partnered with a Vietnamese (who gets home cooking, is very picky, and makes pretty frequent trips to San Jose where the best Vietnamese restaurant food is), Miss Saigon held its own & didn't disappoint. I had the Bo Luc Lac (Shaking Beef) while my partner had the Pho Tai Bo Vien (rice noodles with medium rare beef and beef balls). The server had offered a special cut of beef for the Pho dish, but it was a mistake to stray from the norm on that one. And I would definitely get the shaking beef again. But I have to say it wasn't quite as good as my favorite Vietnamese shaking beef in the City, which is at Tenderloin's Bodega Bistro. Miss Saigon is on our list to visit again.

Impressively good food

By AJS-NY |

Miss Saigon is the real deal and a good deal at that as well. I ordered the beef Pho and my wife a plate of noodles with shrimp. Without doubt, my Pho was among the best I've ever had. We also had some spring and summer rolls as appetizers and they were delicious too. Décor is adequate and pleasant and service is fast and friendly. What is surprising is that the prices are very user friendly considering the quality and quantity of the portions and that you are in San Francisco. The place is well located in a corner about two blocks away from the Marriott Marquis. It was unfortunate that we discovered Miss Saigon at the tail end of our one week visit, otherwise we would have set up camp there. This one is a big keeper.

Good pho

By Sara G |

We went in that restaurant for the first lunch in SF and we ate the typical Vietnamese Pho. It was good and the staff is very kind.

Simple but good

By 252hotels |

I tasted both their Bo Bun (1st day) and Pho (2nd day) and both tasted really good. Friendly staff (well the lady is friendly, the boss not that much)

Interior Decorator Needed Immediately

By AugustoMonteverdi |

The food was okay, but I was distracted by the decor. A mannequin wearing the name tag "Miss Saigon" greeted you at the door. Her Caucasian facial feature seemed to clash with the traditional Vietnamese clothing that she was wearing, although I doubt a mannequin with Vietnamese facial feature--assuming the restaurant could find one--would make the encounter enjoyable. Plastic and porcelain or glass are popular materials for objet d'arts (think artificial flowers, kitschy figurines, colored string lights) in the homes of the middle-class and nouveau-riches in Southeast Asia. And sitting in this restaurant, I can't help wondering if this restaurant owner is sincerely clueless or if he is trying to be ironic by choosing such easily-lampooned--and rightly so--interior decoration. To top it off, the restaurant sits at the edge of the Tenderloin and South of Market, two of the less nice areas of San Francisco. However, judging by healthy size of the patrons--mostly Vietnamese--this restaurant must be doing something right, despite its decor and location. I just didn't and couldn't see what it is.

Beware of the bill chargers on banks statement

By Dalena B |

went their last night for dinner, as i was missing home and graving for some good authentic vietnamese. Food was so, so and the customer was not bad. However when i order dessert I had to wait 15mins before my dessert came and not once did they advise me if the food was on the way. What really disappoint the most was, when coming to pay, I use my card to pay and write the total amount including tips. (I tip 16% consider i had to wait for my dessert.) To my surprises when i check my statement the restaurant took out a lot more in tips than it was suppose to be. The amount they took out it was a small amount. However its the principle, for me that's not right and it not acceptable. I start to wonder how many customer they done that too. I will definitely not come back every again. Make sure you look at the bill and write the tip amount clearly.

Sensational Phó

By Clint R |

We were welcomed at the door and sat down immediately. Clean restaurant , staff friendly. Recommend the Phó soup. Fresh ingredients and tasty. Best Vietnamese in SOMA district

Great Pho, fresh and tatsy

By Paul H |

We found Miss Saigon on our last trip to San Francisco 2 weeks ago. The unassuming small restaurant maybe in a seedy part of SF but it is worth venturing south of Market Street to enjoy tasty fresh pho and other dishes. It was so good we went back again for more of the same. As well as the pho you must try the fresh rice paper rolls.

Get the Fillet Mignon Pho

By Stoove11 |

Tried the Fillet Mignon Beef Pho and it was great! The broth was flavorful, albeit toward the sweet side, but what I loved more were the chewy noodles. The usual pho condiments are available, but with great flavor already in the dish, you won't need to put much.

Definitely a must-try!

By Dai N |

Miss Saigon is best-known for the classic Vietnamese comfort food pho. There are many varieties of pho on the menu and and regulars and newcomers dine here to try them all. The spring rolls are fresh and bursting with flavor, and diners have their choice of protein to add to this popular Vietnamese appetizer; a vegetarian option is also available that incorporates mint and lemongrass. Homemade Kimchi, fried egg rolls, and wonton soup are also perfect starters to share, if you don’t eat it all yourself while you wait for you main course! Substantial rice dishes and other traditional Vietnamese entrees are available for dinner, and guests can finish their meal with a number of classic Vietnamese desserts.

Great place for some tasty Pho

By MDLND |

I was really impressed with this place, it is a simple kind of restaurant which is a bit rough round the edges but serves really tasty pho among many other vietnamese dishes. The service is quick and very friendly and welcoming and the price is very reasonable. Ive tried 4 other Pho places in SF and this is up there in the best for pho with a great tasting broth and nice tender meat... one criticism is that there wasn't much of the meat in the dish.

Great Vietnamese

By Americanflygirl |

This is a very economical wonderful Vietnamese experience. I would definitely come back! It is not a place I would go across town for but great to grab dinner before the theatre or if you are in the area. The neighborhood is quite sketchy but once inside be prepared for great pho or curry! The pho bowls are big enough for two! Pick a table away from the door as they will be warmer. I had great food and service! Fully enjoyed this experience! Thanks Miss Saigon!

Good Tasty Pho!!

By Gregory2014 |

Went there for lunch around 2 pm, clean set up, fast service and great food! Ordered #20 the combination beef Pho. I finished the whole big bowl. Good size, hit the spot, would like to go again if I am around the area. Only down side is the music is a bit noisy, hard to have a conversation inside.

Authentic setting with great food!

By Tom B |

Loved it. Excellent food, great prices. Authentic setting with music, TVs and decorations. Solid service. In the funky Mission district.

Tasty pho

By JanuaryTravels |

Good value Vietnamese place. We had the rolls as an appetiser, and a big bowl of pho each. Walked out full, happy and only 30 dollars poorer. Service was friendly and efficient. The neighborhood is a bit rough but the place itself is kitch perfection. We walked right in and were seated immediately, lucky for us we got the last table. Clearly a popular place.

Great Affordable Vietnamese Food in San Francisco

By SBSCalifornia |

I am always on the lookout for a new Vietnamese restaurant wherever I travel. I visit San Francisco often, and found Miss Saigon through Trip Advisor reviews. I am delighted to add it to my list of favorites! Here's the breakdown: 1. Location: yes, as others have reviewed, Miss Saigon is located in a bit of a rundown location. As a single female, I never felt afraid walking to this restaurant. If you are visiting San Francisco and are shopping in Union Square or the Westfield Center, this is close and convenient. Technically it is the SOMA district, at Mission and 6th street - easily walkable from either location. 2. Ambience inside Miss Saigon - as others have reviewed, the interior is really lovely with vivid yet soothing colors and art. There are 3 TV's going at all times, and I found the volume a bit loud but not distracting. The inside was also very clean, as other reviewers have described. During my visit, they had a music concert video playing of the British Group Take That, and it was really outstanding! I love that I discovered new music while discovering a new restaurant! 3. Food: my benchmark for Vietnamese places is the vermicelli with grilled pork. I am so addicted to this, I find it impossible to try anything new! The vermicelli with grilled pork and veggies was excellent here. The pork was tender with great flavor. A perfect balance of noodle, lettuce, carrots, and meat. All components of this dish were fresh and delicious. The accompanying fish sauce was not too sweet, not too fishy. Very mild and added to the dish - was not an "in your face" fish sauce. 4. Price: outstanding, especially for San Francisco. The above mentioned vermicelli was $7.95, iced jasmine tea was $1.00 and delicious as well. 5. Service: a bit slow. It took me nearly 20 minutes to get my vermicelli. However, a large party of 10 people were in the process of getting their food, and I admit to being "over-the-top" hungry. Service between servers was also a bit disjointed. But I felt welcomed and well-tended to. Overall? I highly recommend Miss Saigon. Don't be scared off by the area around the restaurant - it's safe, albeit interesting. The service and loud TV were the only factors preventing me from giving Miss Saigon 5 stars.

This pho will have you addicted!

By illadave |

Not in the best area as there's usually a few questionable people coming, but come into this restaurant and you'll feel like you're in a different part of the city. The staff are very friendly and the pho is one of the best in the city, if not THE best. Prices are average for the bowl. The only drawback is that you can't choose bowl sizes. But it doesn't matter because the pho packs a lot of flavor, tons of meat and noodles. If you become a regular, the staff will also give you a free small bowl of dessert. Just note: this place gets extremely packed during lunch hours, with people sometimes lining out the door.

An Okay Vietnamese Restaurant

By CarolEPBayarea_CA |

This place is a few blocks from where I work, so I've been here a few times for lunch with co-workers since it opened not too long ago. In a rotten area of SF, the restaurant is very nice inside - they've done a really lovely job of decorating. Service is good; relatively prompt and very friendly. The food, however is average, and it's more expensive (though still quite moderately priced) than some of the other restaurants in that area that are better. I can't speak to authenticity, but I think they've fallen into the all too common error of making things either too sweet or too salty. I'm a curry lover, but the yellow curry chicken I've ordered - twice now, hoping the first time was a mistake - is way too sweet; downright sugary. That's one example; other dishes have been the same - too sweet, too salty, too blah. Bottom line - you could do worse for a lot more money, but you could also do better for slightly less money. If you're a visitor to SF, I would not recommend this place over some others you can go to - that's what Tripadvisor and Yelp.com are for - this city is famous for its restaurants.

Fresh, delicious food

By Alcrocker |

The food at this restaurant is amazingly fresh and delicious. It takes a while for the food to come, and that is because they are making everything fresh for you. I loved the Banh Xeo, served properly with plenty of lettuce leaves and a delicious sauce. The service was very polite and gracious, offering water while we waited for our take-out order to be made. I will return as often as I can to enjoy their food.

Very big portions

By Patrick Clavicula |

Came because we read about the big portions. It was the truth. Really big but still tasty and not expensive.

Great find thanks to Trip Advisor

By PattyD440 |

I used the Near Me feature on TA and discovered great vietnamese food! I probably wouldn't have ventured too far into the neighborhood or even gone in if it weren't for the great reviews. Inside it was clean, friendly and fresh tasty food! I had a vermicelli bowl with beef. The beef was tender and delicious, the vegetables fresh. Would definitely return!

whole family enjoyed it

My wife and I love Pho and quite like the cuisine in general. It was the first time for my kids though and they really enjoyed it. Food was served rather quickly, Sea food Pho was well done and the rice dishes where cooked and seasoned well as well. Area its located isnt the best but all in all its a worth every penny

Introduced my friend to Pho

Great introduction to Pho (I got the filet mignon and he got the traditional beef). As per TA recommendation I also got the green papaya salad.. it was tops! Casual adorable atmosphere and good, fast service.

Neighborhood Vietnamese restaurant feels like home.

By Kenneth G |

I like that this menu presents with an English language description as well as a color photo of nearly every dish. I'm not an expert on Vietnamese food. I ordered vegan options. Everything was pleasing and came in portions that would have been big enough to share (seniors just don't have that big of appetite even when the food is great). As a tourist, you are likely to get off the trolley at Market and 6th and walk a block to 100 sixth street. In the evening this is a very active section of street. A person unfamiliar with the way people hang out on the street in San Francisco might feel uncomfortable. The outside of the building does not reassure you. Once inside, it is crowded with "decorative elements" that seem thrown together without any sort of theme or script. Once we ordered, the informal service was prompt and we could not help notice that there was a nearly continuous stream of "grub hub" pick ups going on suggesting that many people skip the ambiance and go just for the food.

Great pho!

My husband and I stopped here for dinner because we were staying at a nearby hotel. Clean, friendly, great food. Try the pho ga (free range chicken noodle soup).

Fantastic food in an unexpected location!

Great restaurant near a theater we went to last weekend! The service is totally above and beyond-- so so friendly and even with a group of 10 of us, the owner (?) who was taking our orders remembered every single one. And he even split our checks! The food was great as well; I love that they have tons of veggie options, even making pho with a veggie base. I had the vegetarian pho, and it was great! Big portion size, generous with tofu and veggies, and even in the lime shortage they gave me lots of limes to squeeze into the broth. Everyone at the table really enjoyed their food... Fewer were able to finish it!

Great Pho and Egg Rolls

We were looking for great pho in San Francisco and based on weighing a few reviews we ended up here. Great attentive service, clean and interesting (glowing trees) atmosphere and good pho. Enjoyed our meal and would return.

Kind waiters, good food

By Dario P |

The place is quite nice and you can find a nice atmosphere protected from the fairly unsafe sorrounding area. The waiters were really friendly and smiling. We tried a shrimp rice dish and noodles with grilled chicken and vegetables that were delicious. The restrooms and the floor should be better mantained.

Good value and taste

We walked pass the restaurant in an evening somewhat hungry after shopping. We took a risk having our dinner at this restaurant. It turned out that we made the right decision to stop for dinner here. The price was right and the taste was also good. We had vermicelli dishes. There were a good portion of vegetable in the dish just the way a vietnamese dish would have. We enjoyed that dinner.

Awesome place!

This restaurant might not look special from the outside - but has indeed stunningly quick and friendly service and perfect food for low prices. Will def. be back!!

Amazing Vietnamese.

Not in the best of locations. If you stay off 6th street and come down Mission from 4th or 5th it is fine. Vietnamese is my favorite and it now tops the list. Restaurant is beautifully decorated. Very best spring rolls and Wonton soup I have ever had. Other two dishes were just as good. Best food we had in San Francisco . Beats both of the China Town restaurants we ate at

Fully satisfaction!!!

Friendly service and delicious food, especially the Pho. Reasonable prices. I can definitely recommend this place!

Fabulous & Filling Pho!

By Mikeview |

Located at the corner of 6th and Mission Streets, in a run down area south of Market Street, this is one fine Vietnamese restaurant. Despite the location, it was very busy at lunchtime and the cliental was a mix of many ethnic backgrounds. Miss Saigon offers an extensive list of affordable meal choices and seasoning from mild to vey spicy. This was our second visit here and it won't be the last.

Delicious fresh food :)

My husband and I had dinner here this evening. The staff was very friendly and our food was brought in no time. Super fresh and delicious! We are going to be in San Francisco for a couple of days and we already decided to come back here again.

Shows promise

Based on reviews here we recently had dinner at Miss Saigon. We both had pho, one with chicken and one with fish, plus egg rolls. We have had better pho in other cities, these bowls somewhat underwhelmed. However, the menu is rather extensive and I half suspect that there are wonderful selections to enjoy. One word of caution, the restaurant is located in an area frequented by aggressive street people.

Great food and great price, but don't like the neighborhood

By Hui O |

The food here is really authentic, and the food is ready very fast. The price is really decent. We ordered the rice wrap roll, beef rice noodle, and papaya salad, totally $25 after tax and before tip. However, the neighborhood is really not good. I really like the food there, but I will not go there for dinner anymore, lunch maybe ok.

Excellent Food in a Sketchy Neighborhood

By Katy L |

The food at Miss Saigon is fabulous -- very fresh and well prepared. The service is extremely friendly. I would go there more often if it was not in a sketchy neighborhood, if it had a/c (pretty warm today with our hot weather), and if they kept their windows a bit cleaner. Despite the 'hood and the dirty windows, the rest of the place is clean, and I can hardly wait to return.
