Fantastic Tacos and Margarita!

By kiwiandmolly |

I stopped in on a Sunday evening for a quick dinner before a concert. Wow, what a great choice! The taco menu is varied with something for everyone. I had a shrimp, Mahi Mahi, and cauliflower taco with a mango chile lime margarita. It was the perfect amount of food and incredibly tasty! The waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. The restaurant is upbeat and well decorated. I'd definitely go back when in Philadelphia!

Go at lunchtime

It is a huge place, indoors and out. Note there is a steep flight of stairs. The food menu is limited but sufficient. Guacamole and quesadilla were tasty.

Great Vibe and Carnitas

By ReeceLiang |

Great spot in a bustling part of town. We had to wait 30 min but were able to pass time at the bar. The margaritas are pretty standard but I definitely recommend the carnitas tacos and ceviche sampler. Very posh spot, reminiscent of some Miami restaurants with modern decor

Trust The Don

By Joseph M |

~ I chose to accept the mission of this specialized taco restaurant. To take on & neutralize the formidable Oaxacan Express; which included Soup or Ceviche + Choice of Taco(3) + Agua Fresca for 15$. First Impressions: Tucked away in center city is truly the stairway to Mexican cuisine heaven. Upon entrance, the Mission Tequeria teleported me back to an enclosed rooftop restaurant in Cancun. With the light pastel colors, open floor plan, & lively botanical additions it seemed to produce such an authentic positive energy. Now on to the mission. I thought it was impossible to extradite a full meal in under 10 minutes, but this establishment made it quite possible with time to spare. The lovely waitress brought out the fresh Ceviche & Hibiscus Agua Fresca first (pictured). One fork full of the ceviche trafficked a delightful burn throughout my mouth. It was almost too much to handle by itself; so I asked for one of the bowls of nachos, & the waitress kindly accommodated me. The Hibiscus fresca was like drinking sweet nectar of the gods. It was the perfect hero to match the welcomed "villainess" ceviche. I still had my eye on the prize, saving enough room for the 3 fried Mahi Mahi tacos. They were accompanied by perfectly portioned jalapeno mayo, pickled cabbage, avocado, 2 radish slices, & side dish of orange slices sprinkled with a hint of cinnamon (pictured). The disc shaped taco held together the ingredients incredibly as they self destructed in my mouth with a massive explosion of Mexican flavor. The message was loud & clear....Mission Taqueria blows all other previously attended Mexican restaurants(in the U.S.) out of the water. Recommendations: A menu item to select different types of tacos to taste (customers will pay extra for a variety) ; although I can understand the aspect of "keep them coming back for more." Slightly bigger chairs, I felt like an oversized child back in elementary school sitting in one of them. The Don approves of this establishment & will be back ~

Cool spot

By pth5200 |

Decorated so nicely. The food was excellent. We shared some tacos and nachos. Our waitress Danielle was very friendly and suggested the Coco Loco drink. It was Fabulous!! Highly recommend this cool spot!

Delish!

By DebinPhilly |

Met friends before a night at the theater so we had the advantage of seeing this beautiful restaurant in the daylight and at night. Stunning, in a hip, cool, casual way. The food was out of this world! We shared an order of funky cool nachos with goat cheese, black beans, and all sorts of veggies. We then all had different tacos and all I could hear was "yum" from everyone. Mine were the veggies, with butternut squash and mushrooms and every bite was divine! My only note of caution is that there is a full set of stairs to get to the restaurant. There probably is an elevator, but if you don't do steps, you may have to miss this treat of a culinary find in a city filled with them.

Very overpriced with small portions

By anonymouse360 |

Went here last night for a friend’s birthday dinner. Incredibly small portions (more like a snack) with entree prices... I would not come again.

Upscale Mexican restaurant

By Sari Al |

Mission Taqueria is a new favorite upscale Mexican restaurant in Philly, and because it has a massive, bright and airy space, it was an excellent spot for our large group. We all loved it here at Mission. Aside from brunch cocktails (Green Juice Margie, and Michelada, please!) the brunch menu boasts bold flavor items to enjoy in a sophisticated ambiance. Be sure to order some Empanadas stuffed with grilled plantain, definitely Mixto Ceviche and Churros for desserts. Pro tips: - For lunch, get the Oaxacan express: soup + taco + Aguas frescas for $15. Mon thru Fri (11:30a-2:30p) - For happy hour, get their cheap drinks & snacks including $3 Coronas, $2 tacos, and $6 margaritas. Mon thru Fri (5:00p-7:00p). - For mid-day snack, get some chips & dips or some tacos. Mon thru Fri (2:30p - 4:30p) and Sat & Sun (3:00p - 4:30p). - For dinner, get their Taco tasting menu: 3 Salsas + Ceviche + Empanadas + 3 Tacos + Tres Leches for $35.

Week Day Lunch- Will be back again!

By Brittany S |

Recently dined here for lunch on a Wednesday- the space is so spacious and being on the top floor, they have large windows, and skylights, its so bright and warm inside even on the rainy day we went. They offer picnic table seating, booths and tables, which is cool as it caters to all groups. Since it was a weekday lunch, we didnt have any drinks- so will have to come back for those, but lunch great! Very fresh and tasty- only complaint is I ordered a salad and asked for the dressing on the side which the waitress didn't do, but I didn't send back. Bar selection is not nearly as big as El Vez, however a great new spot for Mexican if you want to be on this side of the broad street! Will definitely come back :)

Go for lunch for specials

By kelseybundra |

This is my favorite restaurant in Philly. I love the beautiful atmosphere with the plants, neon signs, and exposed brick. There are no gender bathrooms. The food is amazing and comes out quick. I love the lunch specials and the specialty alcoholic drinks.

Best bee stings in town

By Franklin S |

Not the insect, of course, but the margarita-like concoction enhanced with jalapeno-infused honey. An excellent cocktail bar in general was the best accompaniment to a delicious cantina meal enjoyed by our group of twelve. The menu is brief, but every dish on it was well prepared and smoothly served.

Casual Mexican

By Walter K |

Very casual restaurant located on 2nd floor. Drink and ate at the bar. Started with a house margarita and it was just ok. A Mexican restaurant really needs to perfect their margaritas and this place really needs to. Ordered the guacamole. It came out very quickly and it was very good. Ordered the carnitas tacos and they were extremely tasty. They tacos are on the small side but you get 3 of them. Wish they had an option of mixing up the tacos as there are many good choices. As the menu claims to have "corona" on tap but when I asked the bartender if it was really a corona he stated it was corona light. As a big corona fan I would have been extremely disappointed if I was served a light beer as there is a difference in taste.

Philadelphia has a great addition to Sansom Street.

By Susan S |

Great, fun take on Mexican. Just up a flight of stairs from Oyster House -- one of our favorites. Lively spot; great decor and plenty of drink options with a menu to match. Two of us shared guacamole (excellent) Tortilla soup ( spicy, rich, very good) and fish tacos (delicious). Noisy on a Saturday night. Service was quick and attentive. We will be back but may try for a week night next time.

Lots of rules

By SubtleSandy |

Came here at happy hour on a Friday night; very crowded with young professionals with a good , work is over, and I just got paid atmosphere. Tacos were good; had the mahi mahi and the crispy pork; both were tasty and the guacamole was delicious. They had cucumber chips available as well(sliced cucumber) which was great for the no carb crowd at my table. Food was good but there are a lot of rules silly rules here. We were here at happy hour and at a table so therefore we weren't allowed to have the queso. Queso is apparently only available at the bar. IN A MEXICAN RESTAURANT, you CANNOT have queso unless at the bar. Stupid rule. I also asked for a double margarita. They come in highball glasses; so let's get a big girl drink. Denied. Another stupid rule. I've never been to a restaurant where they won't let me give you money for food/drinks. Again, the food was good but with the crowd and the rules, I wouldn't run back.

This is a weird spot

By MABM917 |

You need to ascend a long, steep staircase to get to the restaurant (no elevator). The dining room is large and open which is nice. The crowd feels very odd. Hard to put my finger on it. The service is aloof and devoid of personality. I tried a couple of tacos and they were pretty good. Just not a great scene.

Great casual dinner after Flower Show

By Todd B |

We came here on the recommendation of a friend and were glad we listened! It is on the second floor in a very simple, somewhat eclectic space. Tables are tight, but it fits the vibe. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Kitchen is visible to the dining area. They have a nice selection of tequila and mixed drinks. Tacos are the centerpiece of their menu, and they are good, but their nachos steal the day! Parking is across the street in a garage.

Great atmosphere and food

By Arnau P |

Definitely try their cocktails, ceviche, guacamole, and tortillas while you enjoy the funky and busy yet comfortable atmosphere. I recommend sitting at the bar; Staff are really friendly too :-)

Great all around

By RT K |

Lunch special is great. I had grilled tacos andTortilla soup. Nice bright restaurant. Clean. Not too loud.

Neat place, hard to find...

By sk888888 |

Had a mini reunion with 9 old (well, we're not old, but our friendship is!) friends last month, and we all had margheritas, a few rounds of appetizers for the table, and plenty of tacos, quesedillas, nachos, and a couple of desserts. Consensus was that we all approved of Mission Taqueria, the food was great, and the service very good.

Sunday brunch at Mission

By lb555nj |

Menu is limited, but quality is excellent. Salsa Fresca is the best—very fresh and spiced well. Guacamole is great Noisy and crowded after work/ happy hour, but easy and laid back on Sunday afternoon. Try to sit at the bar., but ok for larger groups with picnic type tables

Mission Accomplished

By cmom9812 |

Great Guava Margaritas!!!!!!!! We were recommended to this restaurant by Ivan at the Marriott, so glad we took his recommendation. Our waitress Jes and Enrique made our visit great. Jes explained everything on the menu and Enrique followed up to make sure the food and drinks were perfect. Jes made sure my husbands aversion to cilantro was met. Food is great and we would recommend this place to all. The place is busy and family friendly.

So Much Yum!

By AuthorCMelanson |

Hands down, the BEST Mexican food I've ever eaten! I love this place. I wish I could've put it in my suitcase and taken it back to Ontario with me so I could eat there every day! This is a cute little spot upstairs in downtown Philly. The day after my birthday, I went for a late lunch/early dinner and was lucky enough to find parking. This is a very cute space with a little garden area behind the hostess, nice bar, stacked wood for the oven and vivid artwork--the bathroom is gorgeous! I also noticed the sense of camaraderie in the staff. On more than once occasion I saw them shaking hands and high-fiving each other. People seemed to be happy to be working there and they liked each other. That sense of teamwork and pride definitely translated into the food. Ann N was my server. I kind of wondered if she had that 'single diner' prejudice that I hate. I vacation and dine alone and when I eat out I buy a drink, appie and dessert most times and don't skimp on the entree. There is nothing I hate more than being treated like I'm 'not worth it' because I'm a solo diner. But the restaurant was busy, it could have just been that. I did sit for a little while without anything, but the manager noticed and took care of me and treated me very well. I ordered Ghost Pepper Margarita. Best drink I've ever had. If you have one of those, you don't need coffee. I was awake after! I mentioned the small stature of drinks in this town but unlike the pasta place I reviewed, this drink packed a punch in a small glass, tasted delicious and was spicy as the 9th ring of Hell. Loved it! For an appetizer, I had the Esquites. OMG this is one of the best appies I've eaten anywhere ever. From the menu: corn OFF the cob, cotija, lime mayo, scallions, chile morita. This was out of this world and served with fresh tortilla chips. Loved! My entree was the: Wild Shrimp: cabbage slaw, chipotle mayo, serrano chiles. The serranos were fire! There were two tacos that were PACKED with shrimp. The value for the money was awesome. The only thing I would suggest is maybe a lime crema to cut through some of the spice, but these were literally the best tacos I've eaten in my life. So very delicious. I was pretty full, but I had to try the churros. KUDOS to Mission for offering Gluten-Free churros! God bless you! They were crispy outside and tender inside. I've watched family and friends eat them, but to be able to finally try churros for myself was amazing! They came with a Mexican chocolate sauce (cinnamony) and what I think was dulce de leche. OMG what a treat for a GF person. After this meal, I was texting hubby telling him how happy my tummy was. I really wish they were closer so I could visit regularly. Philly had too much traffic and too little parking for my taste, but I might have to pop back into Mission again. It was just that good!

Great empanadas and cocktails

By David W |

Came in here on a Sunday about 4 pm and bartenders was friendly and helpful, her drinks were amazing, then we had the empanadas out of this world. Would come back over and over again

Tasty Tacos, a bit pricey

By Charlie K |

My wife and I went for a bite to eat before theater. We had the carnitas and the chicken mole tacos. The mole had a good spicy kick to it and the carnitas was also good. Prices were about $12 each dish for three tacos. There was no ability to mix and match unless you went with a $35 order that included tacos and other items. While the dishes did not really need any additional sauce, it was extra for different salsas. I had beer but my wife had a house margarita that was average. It is was very lively and noisy for 6PM. We asked to be seated near the back which was quieter and the hostess accommodated us. Service was very good. Food arrived quickly and server was attentive.

SALT SALT SALT

By Christopher |

Our food was disappointingly salty. So salty, it was rough to eat. We loved the ambiance of this place and the service was good. However, we will wait a while to go back - there are still some kinks with the food.

Our favorite restaurant in Philadelphia

By Desires Elegance |

Some of the best mexican food I've ever eaten paired with some great drinks. Their tortilla choices mean the entire menu is gluten free, though they have some non-glutent free specials. Service was attentive, fun and friendly. Went back multiple times

Excellent Tacos !

By karenkaveh |

Great spot , very friendly helpful sraff ! Quite a big restaurant so thankfully no problem getting a table at lunchtime on a Saturday We had chips and guacamole and 2 dips and all were delicious The Pork Carnitas and the Fish Tacos were excellent too Would definitely recommend to anyone who likes Tacos !

Best guac--come early for a seat at the bar

By lb555nj |

Come in a group to grab a table for Happy Hour. Or come early to get a seat at the bar. Tacos are ok but guacamole is great. Margs are delicious. And add mezcal for a real buzz!

great taco!

By lil220 |

Went here by chance and was pleasantly surprised by great quality and freshness of the homemade tacos

Delicious Food and Drinks, Average Service

By Stephanie |

The food was very good and the atmosphere is beautiful. Our only issue was that we felt a little neglected by our waiter. It took him awhile to come to our table, so we already knew everything we wanted to order. However, once he got to our table he seemed to rush away from us after getting our drink orders, not giving us the opportunity to order our appetizer and meals until he came back a second time. The place was really not busy when we got there, so it just seemed a little odd. Overall, though, we were happy with everything we ordered. I would recommend the shrimp tacos and their margaritas (but watch out, they've got quite a kick to them!).

Great Place

By evelyncaba |

I have been here for lunch a few times and always get their $15 express lunch. Everything they serve is ahhmazing! I need to try their cocktails soon.

Good place for drinks and tacos

By Mina50952 |

Had margaritas, salsas and tacos here. One of the salsas was just too hot to eat but the other two were ok. Tacos are really good here and they offer tasty vegetarian options which is rare for Mexican restaurants. Drinks were acceptable too. The atmosphere is lively and a bit noisy, but not too overwhelming.

Excellent brunch with spice

By amysqua |

My husband and I ate here for brunch during our weekend in the city. The atmosphere is so white bright and airy you don’t feel like you’re in the city. The margaritas are delicious and the food is amazing. I will say it was a bit spicier than we thought but nothing another margarita or water can handle. We had the salsa Fresca, the huevos rancheros, and the torta - we have not had anything like them before - they were delicious.

Cute, hip and well priced

By mkd_travelmania |

Really cute and hip. Bright and cheery. Loved the simple yet hip decor. Food was pretty good too: tuna ceviche and swordfish tacos were delish. Guacamole and house-made chips good. Mushroom quesadilla fantastic. Fun place. Service was ok but a bit slow (only minus...)

Stairway to Taco Heaven

By Mallory H |

Walk to the Samson Street Oyster House entrance and look to the right... There you will see the staircase that leads you to taco heaven. We walked in on a Friday evening during happy hour with two young ones and no reservation. The Hostess told us it would be about a 45 minute wait. The kids were getting a little anxious and the amazing people at the host stand were there to jump to the rescue! They were so amazing and got the kids juice to drink offered up some space for us to sit while we wait and even offered to dry the bench in their little courtyard area and open it up so we could wait in there (although we declined) we so appreciated their effort to make the kids happy. And much sooner than 45 minutes they offered us a table! I was already impressed with this place and our meal had not even begun. We had an amazing server, unfortunately I can not recall her name, but the amazing thing was that it was not just one person. It was like a team of people taking care of our needs. We ordered a civic, several tacos, chips and guacamole and quest fundido for the table to share.... AMAZING! Everything was delicious and it all came out so fast!! I ordered a guava margarita and could not put it down. This place was as busy as could be and yet the service was impeccable and the food quality did not suffer at all. They had table shuffle board which the kids loved playing after they finished eating. The ambiance of Mission Taqueria is the definition of less is more: plants hanging, tables made of wood slabs and cements blocks, and mostly bare brick walls. I can not say enough good things about this place! Loved Loved Loved it! Can't wait to get back for more tacos and margaritas!

New Favorite Tacos in Center City

By Sara E |

Me and friend went on recommendation and were not disappointed...the tacos were ammmazzzing. Margs were eh but not the worst. For center city these might be best mexican

Good tacos and guac

By skcoa2018 |

This place can be a little loud, and is frequently full of after-work happy hours due to its proximity to all the offices. But the tacos are good and the guac and chips are excellent. Also, get an assortment of the salsas.

Move over Cheesesteak!

By Sarah C |

There's a new flavor in town! Had an absolutely fabulous dinner at Mission Taqueria which specilizes in authentic Mexican cuisine with an American twist. Loved the "Pork al Pastor" tacos with pineapple, the "House Margie" and of course their fabulous guacamole! We will definitely be repeat customers!

Good food and drinks with a nice vibe

By supersums |

Came here with a group of friends for Saturday night cocktails and food the cocktails were tasty, though a little on the “light” side. The food was delicious. We shared various appetizers, all of which were scrumptious. The scene is energetic and has a fun vibe. I would definitely return again

fun mexican restaurant above oyster house

By virginiahome64 |

fun dinner here with wife and teenage son. above oyster bar. wide variety of seating with regular tables, community tables, and bar seating. I had the ceviche which was very good. the others had the taco which were average, but we all enjoyed the atmosphere, and would recommend.

Great place for drinks and

By Happy traveler Jen |

Great place for drinks and delicious tacos. If you get there in time for happy hour enjoy the savings! We recommend the shrimp or the Mahi Mahi tacos! Delicious!

great margaritas!

By Sharon O |

met some friends for dinner. we ordered the guac - it came out super fast and was tasty (great for mild folks - one friend added hot sauce to theirs). tried the mission nachos - they were good - it looked like they added meat to them though (and my friend was going for meatless monday and asked for non). I ordered the beef short rib taco - they were okay. shared with a friend who ordered the grilled albacore - fish was a little dry, but overall flavors were nice. ordered the tres leches to share - it was okay.

Creative tacos and more

By OCJoe |

Mission is a must try for high quality Mexican. The swordfish tacos were juicy and seasoned to a perfect degree to compliment the fresh fish. Ceviche tasted very fresh and they have one of the best Brussels sprout dishes we ever tasted

Great food and service

By Cathy H |

Came here with a group of 16 for a post-meeting dinner. Service was fast and perfectly organized, folks with special dietary needs were accommodated, drink orders came quickly, and there was a ton of food provided on the group menu. Would absolutely come again on a trip to Philly.

Urban casual, great tacos

By Paul S |

This is an great place to go with a number of friends if everyone shares and everyone loves toacos. We were atable of six and I think we tried every taco on the menu. All excellent. The hot sauce served in a small squeeze bottle had a deep, rich pepper flavor'

Great Vibe/Happy Hour

By GramCPA |

I popped into Mission during Happy Hour... I was originally going to have oysters downstairs at Oyster House but it was PACKED. I went upstairs and found a buzzy bar area with a nice HH menu for drinks/apps. The guava margarita was top-notch and I had a pair of tacos which were tasty. Loud/fun place to have a meal/drink. I would definitely come back for tacos/drinks in the future.

Gluten free churros, tacos and empanadas

By Stefania P |

I’m celiac and it was great finding a place when traveling that is 100% gluten free and no need to worry about cross contamination! We had chicken tortillas, empanadas and plantain as a side dish. We were satisfied with the food and most of all could try for the first time churros! Kudos for that and great to find place that offer inclusivity! Place was cosy and good service!

Great Lunch Spot

By 860Vetman |

Besides great food and drinks you can play shuffleboard while enjoying your food. Bright and fun decorations, Mission is a great place for your Mexican fix. The quac was some of the best we've had, add to that some quesadillas and the tortilla soup who could ask for more. Liz, our server was polite and very attentive.

Fun and festive with delicious food and drinks

By dreamgenie |

Muy sabroso! We came here with friends visiting from New York, which has no shortage of top-notch restaurants, and all of us were happy and impressed with our meal. We had an assortment of drinks (all of which were inventive twists on margaritas), then started with 3 salsas (fresca, verde, and coconut hazelnut--slightly sweet but really good), empanadas, tuna ceviche, and an assortment of tacos. The tacos come in 3s but our waiter put in for 4 each (additional for the 4th) so we could try them all. Our favorites were the mahi mahi (lightly battered like tempura) and shrimp. Everything was really delicious, especially the empanadas and tuna ceviche. The portions were enough to share, and we were all stuffed at the end of our meal. The atmosphere is a bit loud but fun, and the decor is lovely, like a big airy loft party. This is one of the most enjoyable meals we've had in a while--best to come with friends so you can fully take in the festive atmosphere.

Bad service

By Hayden |

Went to mission, wait was long (1.5hr) place was busy. Main concern was the service. The waitress was inattentive and had to ask any passerby for basic stuff. When it came to the bill the gratuity was included at 20%. Was rather annoyed since I would not have tipped that high for that level of service. Will be going to El Vez from now on instead.

Class act venue with some really incredible staff, delicious food and tantalizing drinks!

By catfromwhere |

Traveled from IA for a wedding reception that was held here, and I will admit i was skeptical at first.. How wrong i was the ambiance with all the live plants and neon lighting is perfection. Great small bites food ( the empanadas were my favorite) for this dinner and some very delightful drink choices! Big fan of the Agua Frescas and i think the green juice margarita was bordering perfection! These things alone would have made for an incredible evening, but wait there is more! The venue staff from jump was on top of it providing the utmost care for our celebratory time! Never an empty glass nor missing smile. special shout out to my kindred spirit funk soul friend Collin, thanks for taking such good care of my family! 10 out of 10 would go here again!

Authentic street style tacos

By Dawn M |

We were here for dinner during a Sips night so the restaurant was very busy and crowded - but that was to be expected. We had a large group so it took a while to get a table, but were able to enjoy drinks at the bar. Once we were seated, our appetizers and meals came out quickly. The food was delicious and was pretty spicy, but I like spicy food, so this didn't bother me. The price was also a bit high for three tacos with no sides. In summary, the food is good but expensive for Mexican cuisine.

A Millennial's Dream Come True

By mbowser227 |

My family decided to eat here after a full day at the Philly Flower Show. It quickly occurred to me that this would be a fun place for me to go with my friends (I'm in my twenties), but my parents were a little out of place. We were seated quickly, but it took awhile for our server to arrive. Once he did he was very attentive and helpful. We ordered nachos, which were quickly devoured. They were easily the best part of our meal. My mom and I ordered margaritas, my dad ordered a shot of tequila, and my sister ordered a cocktail. The tequila was as expected, the margaritas were tasty, and the cocktail was very strong! We all ordered three tacos. The mahi mahi, steak, and shrimp were our favorites. The chicken threw us off a bit. Overall, pretty tasty. Are there other places I would check out first before eating here again? Yes.

A new Philly fav!

By gizmosteve |

Having long considered the Oyster House, our favorite restaurant in Philadelphia , it is no surprise , that Sam has put the same attention to detail, in his newest venture, "Mission Taqueria". Upstairs , and next door to the Oyster House, Mission has a bright, airy, and inviting ambience. Service staff are warm and accommodating , and our lunch was truly outstanding! We both had the wood grilled, wild shrimp tacos, and will have a hard time sampling other offerings, because the tacos were perfection!

Great happy hour

By xopaninixo |

The tacos are really good for a non authentic taco. The drink is filled with alcohol. Servers are great.

I LOVE TACOS and I loved this cool new spot!

By Patti K |

Met a friend here for a midweek 1 hour lunch, arrived at noon. Service was excellent, fast but not rushed. Food was super yummy. I had the Oaxacan Express for $15 and it was well worth it (since the tacos were priced at $14 for 3 - how could you go wrong with this deal?) I started with the tortilla soup which was flavorful with a little kick, the grilled taco trio and a tamarind aqua fresca. The shrimp were fresh, flavorful and nice sized, the tortilla was freshly crafted and delicious (open kitchen allows to you see the production just like a restaurant I ate at, in Mexico) and my beverage was very refreshing. Decent amount of food (took half home) - great experience all around. Located right next door to the Oyster House (sister restaurant) on Sansom up a flight of stairs to the second floor level (Formerly Nodding Head). If you love Mexican food & tacos like I do, grab a friend and give it a try!

Great atmosphere, food and drinks

By Aja G |

Went here for happy hour and the food is great. It's a funky little place and they have great drinks and awesome food. It's a cool place to take pictures for social media.

Gluten free churros!

By Decaf4me |

We came here for the gluten free churros as we have never found any anywhere else, figured this could be a once in a lifetime find. It was happy hour so we had drinks and tacos too! Loved the beef barbacoa toco. This restaurant is 100% gluten free so no chance of cross contamination. Staff is very friendly in this light and airy establishment.

Celebrated my Birthday

By LoveTravel768257 |

Great place to have a drink or eat some good savory tacos, you must try the short ribs tacos with the hard shell. Great guacamole with nachos. Great dessert like their churros with dulce de leche and chocolate. I had a lot of fun with my friends, great spot for a date, nice decor, and overall must visit spot while enjoying Philadelphia!!

Great food and fast service for lunch

By MikeyTravel |

Went here for a business lunch. Service was quick, food was very tasty, and reasonably priced. I got a $15 "express" lunch special which includes a choice of soup, an order of three "street" tacos, and a drink. I got the tortilla soup, which was very good and slightly spicy, the fish tacos (they also have chicken, steak, and pork) and a limeade drink that tasted like it had bits of fresh squeezed lime in it. The decor is a little bit of an "unfinished" look with exposed bricks and beams and such. Overall, a good place if you like tacos.

Beautiful space

By PhillyFoodie |

The restaurant itself is perfectly done and the bright atmosphere helps to shake off the winter blues. The margaritas are the best I have had recently. The focus is on a fresh mix and not syrupy sweet flavors. The empanadas were good. The tortilla soup was a stand out as were the grilled steak tacos. They have great deals for lunch but with so many amazing authentic Taquerias in the city the prices are high.

Hip place to be

By lhamilt77 |

Visited Mission Taqueria towards the end of a girls night out. We popped in for churros and cocktails. The traditionally prepared churros come with the cinnamon sugar dusting and a chocolate sauce for dipping. Nice music at night as well. Packed wall to wall later in the evening.

Great find for a casual meal

By Petertom25 |

My wife and I arrived in Philly for a weekend getaway for a late lunch. We looked for casual places near our hotel and were really fortunate to find Mission Taqueria. We loved the look and feel of the place. The menu was light since it was a weekend and they were still serving brunch before 4 pm, but we were thinking of going back the next day for a more expanded menu during lunch. Cheap prices for a yummy meal. Since I'm in Philly often for work, I'll definitely hit this place up again

Gluten Free and delicious

By Klineyqueen |

I have celiac disease and I had not a bit worries at this restaurant it is completely gluten-free. The tacos were homemade and delicious. I had the carnitas. My husband had the mahi mahi tacos and my daughter the chicken tacos. All of the food was delicious. The margaritas I got hot and it was perfect.

Good Brunch Spot

By PhillyShaney |

Mission Taqueria has been a place that I have wanted to visit most of 2017 and I was glad to get here today to try it out. This place definitely did not disappoint!! The space is open, airy, bright with lots on natural light coming throughout the windows. My favs for the event were the Guava Margarita, Ceviche and the Chorizo and Egg Sandwich. The Empanadas was spicy, you definitely need the sour cream and water to get that spice under control. If you like "hot" - you'll love it! Great Service from the wait staff and everyone was super friendly! They were attentive and offered assistance when needed. I would recommend to others and will definitely visit in the future!

We had the mahi mahi tacos and the short rib tacos. Both great. Reasonably priced. Also excellent plantains. Add in some happy hour priced drinks. Great evening.

Great service and food

I took my two kids her for dinner after going to the Franklin institute. Our waiter was the most considerate, kind and helpful server. I wish I got his name. No issue removing an ingredient of the taco for my 10 year old. Recommended a great margarita for me. The esquites (delicious corn dish) were so so good. Loved the chips and salsa. They have a kids menu also which is nice. I definitely recommend going!

All the food and drinks were excellent. Large choice of food to choose from. You have to walk upstairs.
