we returned to the mississippi pizza pub during the mississippi st. fair yesterday and sat outdoors for lunch...mark, the bartender is so nice and friendly....i had a kolsh i think and my partner had the watermelon cucumber slushi margarita......both hit the spot...next, we shared a spinach salad....we did a lot of people watching during the fair...the food is great too....thx so much!

Fancy veggie pizza slice never disappoints! Crust is slightly crispy, not too thick or thin. The condiment rack offers garlic, hot sauce, red pepper flakes, parm, black pepper and maybe even yeast. There are a few salads worth raving about! In addition to serving up the best Ceasar salad in town, I've recently tried the kale w/pesto dressing and the beet/spinach salads-all top notch. The salad dressings here are the best in PDX! Enjoyable is the approach to the ordering counter because the smell of pizza is so alluring that it sets you up to appreciate what's coming! Local talent is features the musical diversity that's distinctly PDX.

Good quick restaurant. You can buy pizza by the slice, the pizza is good. They also have gf pizza. Cute outside eating area.

Nearly every pizza is over 16.50 or 17.00 for a 12 inch diameter pizza, with some well over 20. for a 12inch pizza, and the costs go seriously up from there.Their prices are absurd, yes they have to pay for the ingredients, labor, rent, utilities, insurance etc etc.But they are being unrealistic with these prices, and while my pizza was okay to pretty good, next time I will go elsewhere, I can get just as good a pizza somewhere else for near 30 to even 50 percent less of a price.

We stopped in for a late lunch to Mississippi Pizza on our day trip to Portland. We enjoyed a pepperoni pizza and it was pretty good. My husband really enjoyed it where I thought it was a pretty basic/average pizza. Though the lines at this place would speak otherwise. There weren't a ton of non-veggie by the slice options, but we had time to order a whole pie. I would enjoy going back and trying again. It seems like it would be a fun music-filled night out. Plus their outdoor tables on the sidewalk would be perfect come summertime. The prices seem pretty steep for a basic pizza, but they are rather large in size.

We went to Mississippi Pizza to see hear "Sons of Malarkey" what a fun night! The pizza is so good - salads are great! My husband left ONE of his favorite hats so we went back to pick it up AND have pizza again!

I love Mississippi Pizza. Not only is the pizza good, but its got a little something for everyone. There's the front area that is kid friendly, out door seating for a nice day, the back bar for the adults and good music multiple nights a week.

Came here because they had free live music / apparently almost every night. There was a good folk/Celtic group when we came. Pizza was fantastic - perfect crust, flavorful, piping hot. Very casual atmosphere & kids welcome even in bar where music is. Definitely a fun place to eat some pizza & listen to live music.

Came here right at the rush of a Saturday night. Pretty small little joint (not including the bar) and seating is limited, but lots of folks get slices to go. We ordered a Chicken Cam gf pizza which unfortunately got burnt the first round they baked it as they were having issues with their gf separate oven. However when they finally brought it out we were NOT disappointed. Seriously the best gf pizza we've ever had!! Soooo good. Definitely recommend if you're gf and they come in 16" which most places only do 12". Will definitely come here again!

Stopped in for a late night bite. Pizza very fresh, hot delicious. Good drinks great conversation. Would definitely eat here again

I always love going to Mississippi Pizza! I have never had a bad slice of pizza there (which you can buy by the slice or by the pie), and their Caesar salad is huge and delicious. With a great beer selection, it's a fun place to spend an evening with friends. We usually go where there is live music (particularly Sloe Loris!), or on Wednesdays for trivia night. The lady who does the (21 and over) trivia is hilarious and there is always a good crowd. Basically, Mississippi Pizza = highly recommended!

This place serves the best gluten-free pizza I have ever eaten. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the sights with our pizza.

Friends and I went here for dinner. The line moved very quickly. They had several gluten free and vegetarian options. The staff was also very nice. A man came through the line to answer any questions people had and the counter staff gave me an extra slice when one of my slices was slightly mangled in the oven. The Florentine pizza was really good.

Mississippi Pizza/Atlantis Lounge is in a fun district in Portland, with unique shops and eateries. We gathered to celebrate a college graduate and found they had a wonderful variety of pizzas to meet the desires of young, old, vegetarian, and meat eaters. While carrying standard pizza fare, they also had specialty pizzas with fresh herbs and cheese combinations that were baked with crisp crusts and flavorful combinations of flavors. The furniture is eclectic and vintage, which added to the ambiance and relaxed atmosphere. Their price point was excellent and portions were generous. It was one of few places in Portland that had a room large enough to accommodate at least 30 people and did not charge a room fee (as compared to others that required a rental fee of $1000). They allowed us to bring in a commercially prepared cake and were very accommodating. (Incidentally, there is a small stage in this area of the restaurant, which was an attraction for the "littles" in our group. They were enamored by this small rise in the floor and kept themselves corralled and entertained to "be on stage.")

Located on the historic Mississippi street, you can find a great meal and live entertainment on the weekends.

Exceptional vegan pizza - by the slice or the pie! This is always a favorite place to bring family and friends, as they have options for carnivores, too. Be sure to come when there's live music or a trivia game night for extra fun.š

This place is the ultimate family experience on N. Mississippi. Great pizza, with live music at times when kids can experience it. And a killer bar in the back.

My family had a great time and meal at Mississippi Pizza. We are all adults and had good beer and pizza. The new BKT was great for the meat eaters with bacon on top. They have vegan and vegetarian pies. Live music nightly. You can't go wrong here.

I stop by here a few times a month for lunch during my work week and love this pizza! fresh ingredients and great crust! great value as well.

Had lunch with family and ordered two pies; margarita and red nice. Loved the margarita the best. Crust chewy- close to best I've had. The covered outdoor space makes it great for those with dogs all year round. Mississippi is a great neighborhood for window shopping before or after.

we love coming to mississippi pizza, and have done so for years. this time it was during the mississippi st fair. we began with a miller and a strawberry margarita. next we shared a large spinach salad, loaded with walnuts and tomato. our friends shared a slice of mushroom pizza. all the food and drinks were wonderful. the staff are friendly and quick. the ambiance is relaxing. the additional space outside for the street fair is nice and roomy. the bartender is the best.

I had a couple of slices of pizza here recently. They were great. I appreciate the great flavor and the friendly service. I didn't know they had a bar in the back but they do. They make a pretty good margarita. The day I went, there was live music. This was a plus! Fun times at Mississippi Pizza!

Fun little pub with good quality pizza by the slice and a vibe that says "Missiissppi Ave" in attitude and atmosphere. Fun place to eat dinner or lunch with friends.

Pizza joints are famous for cross contact with wheat...NOT HERE. You are safe to indulge, they make their own crust in a dedicated bakery and have a dedicated oven! Best crust ever...enjoy!

Tasty. Original price was tolerable, but delivery price was nearly twice the cost of the pizza. Pizza was made-to-order.

Pizza by the slice or giant pies......great choice of fresh pizza toppings....the salads were some of the best I had in Portland. There is a line to order but it goes fairly quick and is well worth the wait. Oh, and the beers on tap are all excellent. A great informal meeting spot with great pizza and salads.

Pizza was great and the decor fun. Salad was huge, share it with someone if you get one. You can buy the pizza by the slice, or they make it to order. The slices are huge!

I'd like to qualify this review by stating that the first part focus's on the Mississippi's gluten-free pizza. For those of you who don't have to worry about a gluten-free diet, skip down to the fourth paragraph for a review of the Atlantis Lounge and the pub's live music and entertainment offerings. For anyone who must be gluten-free, finding places to to dine while traveling can be a real problem. Any experienced gluten-free traveler knows that not every dining establishment that claims to have a gluten-free menu truly understands the requirements of a gluten-free diet. One must always be wary of cross-contamination, especially when it comes to such things as pizza. The Mississippi Pizza Pub is one place that does understand what it means to be truly gluten-free. They offer both regular and gluten-free pizzas, but they have a separate gluten-free oven to ensure there is no cross-contamination. Too often, gluten-free pizza crust has the consistency of cardboard and only comes in one size. The Mississippi offers three different sizes and a choice of over 20 different gluten-free pizzas. There is truly something for everyone's tastes including your standard pepperoni, vegetarian, or artisan pizza. Checkout their website for a full list of their pizzas and prices (http://www.mississippipizza.com/). The crust, in my opinion, is the best I have ever had. It is thin but soft and is the closest I have ever had in taste and texture to real pizza crust. Furthermore, you can wash it all down with a gluten-free beer or cider. They do deliver to a limited area, but I highly recommend making the trip to the pub. The pub itself is located in North Portland's Mississippi district, a great little neighborhood with lots of interesting shops. They are open late, and you can usually order a fresh baked pizza until 11:00 or 11:30 pm. You can also order pizza by the slice from a large selection of already baked pizzas which they continue to sell after they shut down the ovens. Once you finish with your pizza, check out the pub's Atlantis Lounge. It's laid back and cozy and offers beer, wine, cider, and mixed drinks with fresh squeezed juices. Mark, the bartender, is friendly and really knows how to make a drink. If you don't have to worry about gluten, try one of his bourbon and homemade ginger ale cocktails. The pub/lounge atmosphere is casual and friendly, and on any given day you'll find a wide range of age groups represented. There is free nightly live music. You can choose to sit up front next to the band or back in the lounge. Either way, and one of the things I most appreciated, the music wasn't so loud that you can't have a conversation. We were there on a Saturday night and listened to three different bands. The first was acoustic folk, the second was hard rock, and the third was an all girl rock band that was a bit on the punk side. All were very good. During the day there is literally something going on every day of the week including including such things as trivia and many family friendly kid events. Once again, I would check out their website calendar for a list of events and times (http://www.mississippipizza.com/calendar/). In short, I highly recommend the Mississippi Pub to anyone, gluten-free or not, who likes good pizza or enjoys a cozy lounge with live music. I know I will definitely make a point of returning the next time I am in Portland.

Called in here as fancied pizza and this place didnāt disappoint!!! Fresh, homemade pizza served with a smile !! And guess what gave us a free soda fountain !!! Definitely worth a visit !!

The pizza here is awesome. Reasonable prices, friendly service. You can't go wrong here. Totally recommend it

i had a huge slice of pizza and a large freshly made salad for an unbelievably low price. Add to that a tall glass of locally sourced beer and you've got a winning combination at Mississippi Pizza. The even converted parking spaces out front into a covered dining area. Will definitely be back again and again.

Really good pizza ready to eat by the slice @ 3-4 dollars a slice. I get pizza here once a week. I love the fancy meat but the vegetarian is also good..The only thing I do not like is when it is hot outside ,it is very hot in the building. Pizza ovens tend to do that. They make a gluten free crust on request. It is worth trying!

Flew in to hang out with my BFF in Portland and she brought me to Mississippi Pizza. We took the kids and for the four of us, including drinks, and buying specialty slices we spent under $30 which was great! It's obvious that the toppings are high end, and the slices are BIG. I loved the tomato feta slice...and the artichoke...OH and don't miss the bread sticks! (reviewers complaining about the prices should go to Pizza Hut and hunker down with Chef-Boy-Ardee pizza made from a jar...Or pick up a frozen rising-crust, the prices at Mississippi aren't bad and the pie is gourmet.) The Pizza Chef was friendly and the place was all around cool. Outside there was a public eating/seating area that was very cool. Overall; This pizza was delish, and this place has my vote!

This is mostly a review of the gluten free pizza at Mississippi. If you are lucky enough not to care, please feel free to skip over my review. For those of us who are gluten intolerant, especially if visiting a new town, reviews like this are essential! We just ordered a bunch of pizzas for a large group last week, including a gluten-free one with pepperoni for the 4 of us in the group who are gluten intolerant. Mississippi was one of the first places in town to offer GF pizza, but I haven't tried it -- in those early days I would go to Oasis Pizza instead because they were much closer to my home. Anyway, they make their own GF crust, unlike most of the other (now numerous) places that offer GF, who mostly use the frozen crusts now available from the food service companies like Sysco and FSA. It is excellent, and ALMOST reminiscent of a good chewy (but not thick) conventional crust. And since they make their own crust, you actually get a choice of 3 sizes (8", 12" and 16", I think), something we gluten-intolerant folks are definitely not used to. Toppings are great too. Can't rate the service or atmosphere because we did takeout. Price was also decent, since some restaurants are charging a HUGE premium ($3 or more for a 12" crust) for GF.

I went in here tonight to grab a slice of cheese. There was a line, but it was so organized and efficient. It took no time at all. There was a band playing some good music, and the pizza was quite tasty. Glad I stopped in. Staff was friendly and appeared to be happy working.

Had been wanting to stop in all weekend as we passed by. So glad we did. Got a slice of pizza that was fresh out of the oven. Loved it!!!! Gotta come back when we are in town

We went because it was recommended by friends and gave it a try. The service is...well there is no service, you order from a counter, get your own drinks (from the fountain or attached bar) and go back to the counter to pick up your salads. You also get to bus your own table. The pizza was average - we had a margarita pizza and added roasted garlic - yet it still had minimal flavor. I've had better frozen pizzas. The Caesar salads were equally bland. We stopped on the way home to buy something with some flavor and punch. The environment was not what I was expecting with a "band" playing live "music" with their banjo, double bass and fiddle. I didn't recognize any of the songs and I couldn't understand the vocals. Overall, I might stop in for lunch and try another type of pizza, but based on my first experience, I'd look elsewhere

We like visiting this place after a stroll down Mississippi. The pizza is nothing special, but it is consistently good. The staff is friendly and the service is usually quick.

Great pizza! Vibrant scene, very reasonably priced. Wonderful neighborhood find. They offer weekly pizza topping specials (purple broccoli was the special when we were there). A little noisy inside if there is a band playing in the bar next door, but it's all fun.

This had great reviews on yelp but this was not our experience. The line was out the door, 20 plus minutes to order. We ordered a 16ā Greek pizza with two breadsticks and a soda. The breadsticks were great. Everyone was buying pizza by the slice. I should have known there was a reason. After waiting 25 minutes or more I decided to ask about our pizza. The guy looked a little confused and then looked in the oven. Magically ours was done the moment I asked. A few minutes later and our pizza was on the table but it didnāt look right. It was blackened on top but we decided to give it a try. I have had frozen pizza that was tastier. The only thing I could taste was charcoal, the crust was like cardboard and the pizza was sickening. I now had to decide if my hunger outweighed my taste buds. I decided to say something to the staff. I politely told an employee and he apologized and offered to refund $20. I reluctantly agreed because I had very little recourse since we were from Seattle. He nicely returned our $20 and tried to give us the pizza which I happily refused. This non-meal cost me $15 for two breadsticks and a soda. If this is Portlandās idea of pizza they are sorely missing out. Even Costco pizza is better than this pizza and this is supposed to be a food town. Sad and despicable.

Food and service was fine. I have to say I've had better pizza at quite a few other places but was perfectly good I just don't appreciate as much as many other reviewers did. Nothing bad to say about the place. Maybe a little on the spendy side for pizza that isn't particularly special, but perfectly adequate.

We decided to pop in after seeing a line OUT THE DOOR, with good reason! Awesome staff who amazingly kept everything running smoothly and quick, I couldnāt believe it! Pizza was great and we shared a pesto salad which was awesome and flavourful. The hippest pizza joint to be at on a Friday or Saturday night - we will definitely be back.

during covid 19 we wanted to get lunch to go last sunday at mississippi pizza...we read the take out, and ordered a lg spinach salad to go...delicious as always.the staff, one guy is real nice and quick......they have been doing a lot of outreach to those affected, in addition to their usual donating to the common cause...we tipped big, then gave an extra twenty bucks to their fund for community feeding....thx so much, and take care!

Like Brooklyn, NY, the "5th quadrant" north district of Portland has rapidly climbed out of flat-out downscale-dangerous to hip, hippy and happening. Mississippi Pizza is a perfect example of this dichotomy. In a district filled with down-in-mouth old Victorians, many being upgraded for the new young gentry, and brand new super-upscale micro-condos, this classic old landmark occupies a perfect place, with perfect pies. Come in for some cheap-ish pints of beer, order a pie - glutoneous or gluten free -and have it in your choice of the main pizzeria/bar space, the adjoining kid friendly ballroom space that turns into a music venue in the latter hours, or on sidewalk tables, and rub flannel-covered shoulders with the locals and you will experience that Portland-insider vibe almost immediately.

We went for a performance by Tallulah's Daddy, a local children's musician, and had the best time! He invited kids up on stage to rock out with him :) I also had a great piece of vegan pizza and beer.

since the mississippi st fair was cancelled due to covid again, we wanted to give some support to mississippi pizza for lunch yesterday outdoors....all masked up i had the spaten lager, and she had the pint of lager on tap....next, we shared the large spinach salad...the staff is always real nice and quick....we love sitting in the outdoor space and relaxing, people watching.....the salad is excellent too...be sure to tip big during these challenging times...thx so much!

we came for lunch and shared a large spinach salad...excellent as always...the staff is great, and the ambiance superb...nice r/r..thx!

We went to this pizza joint for quiz night. There were huge slices of pizza for 2.50-$4. There is alcohol to purchase. There are salads. It is a neat neighborhood. Quiz night was fun and we won a gift card.

Fun place to have a drink from the Atlantis Bar and order a tasty NY style pizza. The outdoor seating is fun, and well distanced.

My family has two celiacs and require knowledgeable venues with great food. This place has it! Our family loves the Stanton and Spicoli pies!

Love this place, especially in the summer when the street is alive with activity. Great place to get excellent pizza and really good beer and people watch. Our goto pizza is the Lincoln

Love their deluxe meat pizza slices. Generous slices at reasonable prices. Granddaughter enjoyed her cheese slice. Spinach salad was delicious. Humble and basic place. All about the food. Even the Uber driver said "my favourite pizza place". Friendly caring service.

This place was awesome. The ambiance was colorful and fun. We sat in a wooden booth next to open windows. The prices were good and the pizza even better. If you have celiac no need to worry. They use gluten free ingredients and have a separate oven to reduce contamination. They have some nice outdoor seating and also have bands on weekend nights. Very pleased with my experience here!

Stopped by the Mississippi Pizza joint for lunch, excellent pizza, freshly made, neat atmosphere. nice size portions, good price. I recommend

Huge slices of amazing pizza, good beer selection and great sidewalk seating. What more could you want from a pizza place?

Yes they have pizza. You can have a full pizza or you can have Pizza by the slice. You can listen to live music as well. So you might like to check the music list they have at the counter to see what is coming up. You can eat inside the mail building you order the pizzas. Or you can sit at the seats they have in the covered area outside between the sidewalk and the street. But don't wait too late at night to get pizza by the slice, the slices may be gone very late at night.

For a casual evening out, Mississippi Pizza's pies are so yummy! I also like the organic strawberry lemonade. Service is friendly, seating is spacious and there is also a semi-enclosed patio area. Enjoy the live music, or visit on First Sunday evenings for a classical music "open mike" -- classical musicians bring music to play and share. There is a piano there in reasonable condition for pianists.

This place has such a beautiful setting atmosphere with three areas a restaurant for casual dining, an area for live music & a low-key lounge. Staff is phenomenal with wonderful customer hospitality and amazing pizza in PNW!

we went to the annual mississippi st fair and begin with this place with mark, the bartender...we each had a modelo, and bought our friend, the margarita slushy.....people watching and laughing with dj eddie across the way playing great music...next we shared the small spinach salad....everything was great and fun....thx so much!

Mississippi Pizza has that New England Pizza shop feel but the Portland vibe one would expect of this fun neighborhood. The atmosphere is relaxing and generally filled with a rather young (30's) crowd. In the summer, the outdoor seating is worth trying. The backside bar indoors (The Atlantic) is a neat hidden den for a nightcap as well.

we always come here during the mississippi st fair....we each had a miller, then shared a large spinach salad....everything was fabulous...the bartender is always so friendly and nice, and we sit, watching the people at the fair...the staff inside are equally nice...thx so much...
Wanted pizza and got sooo much more!!!
We went to meet with a local couple and were NOT disappointed! Friendly and knowledgeable wait staff, awesome & unique pizza (Large pizza - half "Penelope's Pie", half "Ring My Bell", and spinach salad fed four of us), good drinks, good live music. Great night!!! No delay on making & delivering the pizza, oh, and I notice they have pizza to go out front!
