The meal was ok. I went for brunch on a Saturday. When I asked for butter for my toast I was brought real butter. It was hard and not able to be spread our melted . It also took way too long to greet my bill and pay. It was over 15 minutes. Server might have been a little overwhelmed . Only time there so not sure. Probably better places to go to.

Friends took me to Mixto on a Saturday night. We had reservation at 7.15pm but were made to wait 45min at the bar. The place was very crowded. The menu looked interesting and reasonably priced. When our entrees arrived we were all excited because the presentation was really nice and the food looked very appealing. BIG disappointment when we tasted the food. NO FLAVOR, totally tasteless. I had a tamale on my plate that tasted watery, the rice was undercooked, etc. Never again.

Our party of four had breakfast here twice. We did not have to wait in line or shout over the noise to hold a conversation. The food was well prepared and our server, Olga, was friendly, helpful and efficient. We recommend the avocado omelet, Creole breakfast and the Mixto Platter. The Mixto Platter is huge and for those who want to share or have a large appetite. There is both indoor and outdoor seating.

Went with people from school for restaurant week. The restaurant itself was very clean and well kept. I had never had Cuban food before. The food was pretty good. The crab empanadas were delicious. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly. The tiramisu was still partially frozen when they brought it out. My husband's stuffed chicken was really good. I would recommend Mixto to anyone, but not sure if I would go back to pay full price for the food.

I visited this restaurant with a large group for a bachelorette party dinner. Unfortunately, the service was awful. A table of 18 people needs at least 2 servers. Our server was not knowledgeable, made mistakes, brought the appetizers and entrees out all at once and refused to split the check at the end. I wish I could say an manager came and checked on us and made us feel welcomed but that didn't happen either. The ambiance is nice. The food was overpriced for what we got and the service was awful.

Authentic. This spot was great, from the drinks to the food. Sevice was also pleasant :) very warming.

Went for dinner during Phila restaurant week. I thought I had a reservation from Open table, (they are listed but tables no longer available) so apparently they no longer participate. They are listed on the Phila restaurant week website for dinner, but they do not participate in that either. Surprise 2nd red flag. Was surprised that they had plenty of open tables despite us suddenly not having a reservation- third red flag. Food was very bland - not representative of their culture in any way. Party of two and separate check for our friend party of one - each had MANDATORY 18% gratuity already printed and figured in (their loss as we usually tip 20%) - who puts mandatory tip for party of 1 or two? red flag 4. And no coffee refills on plain black coffee - this place is a loser. I think people come because the prices are cheap - well, you get what you pay for.

Mixto is excellent every time I stop in! The food is delicious and authentic. You seriously can't make a bad decision. The cocktails are made to perfection every time. The service is always super friendly and attentive whether you're at one of the two bars, or the upstairs or the downstairs dining room. I definitely recommend trying a caipirinha!

Great place, Food Excellent, Atmosphere Excellent, Service Excellent. Favorite is the Palm Salad add the Grilled Chicken and you have a meal and more. Always made sure to have a reservation when in philly. So not real sure about just doing a walk in. Love Cuban and this is the place.

This was our 2nd time dining at Mixto. The food is delicious and fairly priced. My husband and son had the steak tips and loved them. Very flavorful. I had the scallops. They were also very tasty, I only wished that I had a few more. The place was crowded but the servers moved quickly so that food was served quickly. My only recommendation is to make the sangria less sweet. It was too sweet for me. Too much fruit juice not enough wine. Great place!

Great food, great atmosphere! Been there twice, both cases the waiter and service was excellent as well as the quailty of food was just outstanding. Definitely recommend!

This is a lovely restaurant open to the outside. The staff was friendly and efficient. The tables were well spaced and comfortable. The food was excellent except my rice and beans were only luke warm. It all tasted delicious. Not fancy but excellent Cuban/Latin American food. Prices were fair. I'll definitely come again.

Loved this restaurant which we just stumbled upon. There was a great buzz about the place and the food was very good. I had the Pollo Mareado and I loved it, it was accompanied by red beans and rice. It was a big portion of food. My friend ordered the special which was Sea Bass and was also delighted with his choice. If we were staying in Philadelphia we would definitely return. The prices were also reasonable averaging around $20.

Mixto provides great Cuban and Latin American food. The only negative may be that its a bit noisy, but that may just be part of the atmosphere provided. The Paella is large; two can share the smaller portion. The Ropa Vieja is excellent. A simple salad with steak may satisfy.

Okay service, the restaurant was pretty busy. mixed crowd. descent food, somewhat pricey definitely not a cheap date night. we will take it for a test ride once more and maybe i might re-rate them with a 5 if the service improves

We stopped in for a drink and sat in the upper bar area. The bartender was excellent, attentive and friendly. Drinks were tasty and served promptly. He was quick to clean area whenever someone vacated their table or bar area. Wish we would've eaten here - the food looked fabulous. Atmosphere was gorgeous and welcoming. Next time!

Delicious salads, cold beer, attentive service and good conversation with the people at the next table. đ

After a very long and rainy spring the sun finally came out! We were visiting Philly and went for dinner at mixto. Took advantage of the sun and sat outside The restaurant offers a hybrid of Latin and Caribbean offerings. While the food was good and tasty it seems designed to an American palate and not a Latin American one. The staff (starting with Julio the manager) was super nice and friendly and overall was a great experience.

The food was wonderful and the service was equally excellent. I dined here with five friends before the theater. The waitress knew we had to be out at a specific time and was very careful to plan the service around our time frame. I don't think there is a bad dish on the menu. I had the chicken in a mushroom sauce and it was outstanding. One person at the table had a dish of planktons and beef and it was delicious. I will try that next time. The mojitos were the best I've had- we ordered a second pitcher. For dessert we ordered the trio dish and that, too, was exceptional. What a great place for before the theater or anytime.

As a Spanish citizen I found this restaurant like a little piece of Spain in the middle of Philadelphia, the food, the language and the place itself reminded me of my country. The food was really good and filling, the flavor is just from another world and the menu offers dishes from every Spanish-speaking country in North, Central and South America, the Caribbean and Spain. Really good. The staff deserves 5 stars. They were nice and spoke Spanish perfectly. Itâs a place Iâll definitely come back to. Yes.

The paella is exquisite. Every year we go to French and Spanish Catalonia (Barcelona)where paella is the most popular dish, served by the best restaurants in this part of the world. Mixtoâs is close to beating them all. What a discovery to find such quality in Philadelphia, where we live. The service, however, makes what could be a wonderful evening a stressful experience. We were constantly interrupted by waiters wanting to take our bread away (5 minutes into the meal), wrapping our leftovers ( in the middle of the meal). My mojito disappeared before desert ( I was saving some of it to accompany my desert). We just felt harassed throughout the meal. American efficiency? There were empty tables around us. Nobody was waiting. So why this rush throughout diner. Time is such an important element of a good meal! Mixto has the decor, the food quality. So please, let your customers enjoy it without constantly harass them to clean up the table from the food they are in the process of enjoying. It might be done with the best intention, but it really deters from the enjoyment of the evening.

This was a first time here and we enjoyed it. They had a good selection of drinks and their menu was extensive. Three of us got the churrasco and the serving was enough for 2 people. The meat was tender and the sides were tasty. The server was very attentive and had a great personality.

When your in Philadelphia you must visit this restaurant! The skirt steak is awesome. Yuca, rice and beans and the peach sangria are off the charts. A reservation is highly recommend.

Cool atmosphere (maybe a little loud). Neat vibe. The service is good but hard to understand (hey, it's authentic). The food is YUMMMMMMM! Fresh, lots of options for everyone. Full bar. Not really for kids but a great spot to hang out with Family and Friends. A little pricey but it's worth it for the quality and quantity. A go to spot you will want to show off to your friends

We came to Mixto after a long drive in from Pittsburgh, taking an unintentional one hour detour into the darkest depths of New Jersey. The restaurant was recommended by the receptionist at our hotel. It was an extremely pleasant discovery. The front windows were open to the street, tables lined the edge of the sidewalk, making me think of similar establishments I'd been to in Buenos Aires. The tropical décor and the sultry heat outside helped accentuate the feeling of being in a big Latin American city. Our waiter Daniel was about as Philly Irish as they come, but what he lacked in Latino roots, he sure made up for in a sense of welcome and a genuine interest in making sure we had everything we wanted. We both ordered the Pollo Mareado, which was huge and absolutely incredible. Highly recommended.

To start off, I didn't even like their bread either. It was dry, and they didn't provide butter or anything to dip it in. My steak was too chewy. I was told that it was a crispy steak, and it said that in the menu too. It was so chewy that I couldn't have a conversation. I did not enjoy this at all. The meat reminded me of the cheap meat I ate in a third world country. I was very disappointed, but at least I never have to go back.

We went on a Friday night, and the place was hopping! Outdoor, indoor, and second floor seating filled up fast. It was a very lively, very social environment. Drinks, appetizers, main courses, and desserts were all fabulous. The mojitos and tres leches cake were the best I have ever had!

Mixto is an expansive Cuban restaurant in the heart of historic Philadelphia. Its dining facilities cover two floors, but its service given to large parties, in our case 13 diners, seemed to overwhelm the waitstaff. Constantly asking our servers for menus, water and cocktails was frustrating. A waitstaff should work as a team and not as individual servers. It was too hard to tell who was the captain, the waiter, or the busboy. With everyone ordering a la carte, there was also confusion among the servers as to who got what dish. Multiple orders of the same dishes were ordered, but the servers still didn't know who ordered what. Yet the Rope Vieja ("Old Clothes") was a tasty blend of flank steak stewed in a vegetable sauteÌ of onions, tomatoes, garlic and red and green peppers. The meat was tender to easily pull apart. Also good was Parillada de Carne, a mixed grilled plate of churrasco Argentino, churrasco Colombiano, pork chop, Colombian chorizo, Cuban chorizo and chicken; Salmon a la Parrilla, a grilled salmon, sauteÌed spinach, mashed potatoes served with a lemon thyme sauce; and Arroz con Camarones, succulent shrimp, saffron rice, Cuban sausage, olives and maduros. We would have ordered dessert and coffee, but the hassle of itemizing individual expenses from one check left us wanting to pay what was owed and leave. Forcing us to pull out our calculators and itemize for who owed for what from one single check made the dinner more challenging than necessary. I felt the waitstaff was rather indifferent. It would have helped if they treated us as one large party and added on a mandatory 20% tip and gave individual checks, with tax and 20% tip included, where everyone could pay by individual credit card or cash.

We were discriminated against as soon as we walked into the restaurant, they never brought out our appetizers, the margaritas were so bitter that we had to ask for lime juice, and the hostess charged us for masks but not two other couples. In addition, they let a party of 12 walk maskless through the whole restaurant. Had to speak to 3 managers and after speaking to a manager (Mercy) she had said they are Latino so they normally get discriminated against. Definitely will never will be going back after such disrespect from management and will be sharing the experience with family and friends.

We've been to Mixto 3 times now every time we are in Philadelphia. This restaurant offers good portions with tasty cuban fusion food. The service is always on point. Thank you for the good time.

I am so happy to have found this restaurant in Philadelphia! If you want to experience Latin-american food, you should come to MIXTO. They have a general showcase of food from Argentina, Cuba, Colombia, Peru, etc; Caribbean and South-American food in general. You will find arroz con pollo, three kinds of empanadas, arepas, two kinds of churrasco, plĂĄtano maduro (which is a rare and DELICIOUS kind of plantain), ropa vieja, âTilapia Mangoâ (a cool way of eating fish), chicharrones, Colombian bandeja tĂpica (also known as âbandeja paisaâ), ceviche, etc., etc. and etc... The variety of the menu is amazing, specially the variety of fruits and flavors for their smoothies/juices! They have my favourite Colombian fruit: LULO! You should try it. If you are vegetarian, be happy! Most of the dishes I mentioned do not have meat, and they also offer a lot of options like the âvegetarian paellaâ that looks delicious. What I liked the most of my visit was the environment. From the very first moment you step in you experience the feeling of a Latin-american place; the smells, the music, the art on the walls make your soul feel warm. And one very cool thing: the flower on the table was REAL! It was an actual flower, not those fake plastic flowers. Technical facts: It is better to reserve a table in advance, it can be done easily via their website. If you come with a large group the gratuity of 20% is mandatory. It is not cheap! The individual main dishes costs vary from $17 to $27, but you can share bigger plates that are around $24 to $36.

One of the worst bartenders I've ever had to deal with. After I asked for a drink menu he spent 10 minutes talking to the kitchen then proceeded to prep limes. After one of his friends told him he had people waiting he said "that's fine, they can wait." Against my better judgement I tried ordering a $14 drink and paying for it my credit card to which he said "we can't put one drink on one card. There's a minimum." I spoke with the manager and she apologized but didn't seems to phased by his behavior. Luckily there are tons of better options in the neighborhood.

Husband and I met friends for dinner at Mixto. Husband has been before, this was my first visit. Restaurant has several levels, and in warm weather offers outside seating on sidewalk in front. As well, the front of the restaurant was open to let in the warm air. We had reservations, and were promptly seated. We started off with beverages. Friends had margaritas, which were served in large glasses. They said their drinks were delicious. My husband had a martini, I had sangria. Sangria was just okay, not the best I have had. We shared 2 appetizers, the guacamole which was served with plantain strips, and the mofongo with chicken. Both apps were very good. For entrees, we had the sea scallops with risotto, 2 lomo saltados, and ropa vieja. Everyone declared their choices as tasty, very filling. We ended our meal with coffees and shared 2 desserts, the flan de leche and flan de coco. Food was good, waitstaff attentive, Olga our server professional and efficient. A nice evening out with friends. Will return, as other items on menu were intriguing.

Great food and great atmosphere. Try the smoothies with water- so refreshing! Everything on the menu is great but the lechĂłn rostisado was awesome.

To start the place has a really fab feel, from the interior to the patio. The service is fantastic - always on top of refills and making sure you have everything you need. I came here for dinner with a friend, we started off with a pitcher of the Mango margarita which was pretty awesome and strong. We also ordered an appetizer, the empanadas which were out of this world. My friend ordered the ropa vieja and I forgot the name of my entree but it was a chicken breast stuffed with shrimp. Both entrees were amazing. Overall I was extremely impressed and plan to come back for brunch!

Absolutely outstanding atmosphere, food and service! If you enjoy Caribbean cuisine, this is the restaurant for you! I highly recommend this adventure in n dinning experience!

I ordered the cucumber mojito and my friend ordered the mixto margarita which was huge for 14 dollars. Both were excellent drinks. We shared the salmon with garlic spinach which surprisingly was also very tasty (I usually think salmon is salmon, how could it taste any different? It was phenomenal! The guacamole with plantain chips also was very tasty, although I feel that for 12 dollars, the portion could've been larger (I don't think they gave us an entire avocado) . All in all it was a really great culinary experience.

Ate dinner hear with family while visiting Philadelphia. This is a very busy restaurant with a good vibe. It has outdoor seating and is very attractive. We started with a round of drinks, which were excellent. Moved on to guacamole which was so good we ordered a second serving! I had the Lomo Saltado which is the signature dish of Peru It was fantastic. The beef was tender and very tasty. Others ordered other meat dishes which were also tasty and tender. The food was attractively plated and the service was very good. I would return. Only drawback is the ladies room is a one at a time one and for the size of this place, it takes a long time to get in!

Mixto is conveniently located near Broad St. The food is excellent and the service is outstanding!đđŸ

Family dinner at Mixto. Esp. liked the 3 ceviche and Mofongo apps. Paredilla de carne main course was a meat lover's delight. Shared a paella which was very good with plentiful seafood. Desserts (flan and chocolate tres leches) were good but not quite outstanding. I did not care for the mango margarita but I must admit to being a real novice when it comes to tequila. Service was excellent.

My wife and I found this place because the Cuban place we usually go to in Philly was booked. It was a great experience. If you like Cuban influenced food then there is no reason you shouldnât enjoy the food here. I usually have the Paella or Arroz con Pollo. I recommend starting with the Empanada appetiser or the Ceviche and finishing with either the Flan or the Tres Leches. The food at this restaurant is outstanding and the service is terrific.

Mixto is a great bet for tasty latin american/caribbean food in a high-er end setting. It's great for dates, special occasions, and nice dinners. They also accommodate large groups well and put out some really good prix fixe brunches. Generally speaking, I've found their cocktails on the weaker side, with the exception of their frozen margaritas, which are fantastic. My usual go-to there was the Churrasco Argentino (Succulent cut of outside skirt steak, garlic, vegetablesand chimichurri sauce), which is essentially a big hunk of steak on a plate. I then discovered their Ropa Vieja* (Flank steak is stewed in a vegetable sauté of onions, tomatoes, garlic and red and green peppers until the meat is so tender it pulls apart and resembles "Old Clothes." Accompanied by maduros) and I've forever been converted. This is a pretty huge portion and is INCREDIBLY tasty. I am also a huge fan of plantain, so eat tostones and maduros whenever possible.

Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. Had a wonderful Argentinian shrimp dish, bean soup and my family all enjoyed their meals

The empanadas here are delicious. The service is also exceptional, as is the ambiance of the restaurant. I ordered the Ropa Vieja mostly because I make it at home and wanted to see if what I make was close to authentic. Maybe that was my mistake because it was too similar to what I make at home it didnât seem special? The fried plantains that came on the side were another highlight. Perfectly caramelized, I didnât even need dessert.

I went with friends for a birthday celebration and it was very good; food, drinks, ambient. A little pricey, but worth it. Always wanting to come back!!! I encourage people who haven't been here to try it. I advise to make your reservation around 9pm because it is very loud if you go earlier.

Came here with friends and the food was outstanding! Service was very poor. Took 25 minutes to get a drink. But thankfully the food made up for it!! Recommended

Was in Philly for vacation and Mixto was a block away from where we were staying, so had to try it. It has an eclectic menu of Latin American food and was so good we went back twice! 1st night there was for drinks and appetizers, seated downstairs with a good view of the sidewalk for people watching. They have quite a few mojito options that we had to try, all were tasty and hit the spot after wandering the city on a hot day. Our appetizers were, ceviche, chicharrones, octopus and the maduro relleno and all were fantastic! We split the dessert sampler, and couldn't decide between the rice pudding and the chocolate cake. 2nd night there was for dinner just for me and the Hubby, this time seated upstairs. More mojitos, the vacca frita and pernil rostado were simply wonderful! Coffees and a rice pudding to split had us almost too full to walk the block back to our place! Sooooo very happy we found this place, and would highly recommend it!

Visited Mixto and was very pleased with everything it has to offer. The staff was very welcoming and professional. The food and drinks were amazing. I would recommend the skirt steak and the Ropa Vieja. Definitely put this as a must visit when in Philly.

The ambiance is wonderful... Beautiful outdoor seating, everything was left to be desired sadly. That $2 up charge for a bacon bloody... Is 1/2 a piece of bacon somewhere in your drink. I went simple with breakfast and got the American breakfast with poached eggs and I asked for a side of avocado. Well I got hard boiled eggs (as did my partner who had the eggs Benedict) and no avocado... But was charged the $4 up charge for the non-existent avocado. I couldn't walked down the street and gotten at least 4 avocados for that price... And it still never came as ordered. The waiter did his job, nothing more nothing less. Aside for the review saving atmosphere the best part of the experience was the friendliness of the girl at the front of the house.

A night out without the child started right at Mixto. Although families with children are clearly welcome it still has a romantic atmosphere and wonderful ambience. Not too dark and not too noisy. The service was prompt and fast without making us feel rushed. The menu has a lot of variety and traditional favorites. The portions were generous without being too large. Everything was done well and tasted great. The only thing that I would say was disappointing was the Camarones al ajillo which could have used more garlic. Our favorite was the Ropa Viejo which was one of the most flavorful versions of this dish that I have ever tasted.

Great place to come with the family or even on a date! I came here back in March and I'm glad I found this place. I recommend the Mofongo and ask for MayoKetchup (pink sauce) and the Pechuga de Pollo. And for kids their chicken tenders are A-MAZE-ING. I will always be eating here whenever I come to Philly. Such great food and service. Great location, and atmosphere. Definitely a place to eat when in Philly. (Sorry for no photos I got so excited for my food and ate it right away)

First night in Philly and wanted to eat food that we couldnât find at home. Found this place and was instantly amazed. Ordered beef empanadas to start with and a pitcher of mojito. The mojitos were delicious and the beef empanadas were to die for. I had the pernil and the my husband ordered ropa vieja as weâve never ordered had it before. Both were amazing. Both are full of flavor and weâre complemented with plantains, rice, and black beans. So delicious and the portions are definitely enough!

What a disappointment, we were enjoying a lovely dinner and then a cockroach crawled out of the woodwork into the wall. We were mortified and notified the staff. They did not seem startled or surprised by the bug. Instead the waiter tried to say this is not on their control and things like this happen. At the end the manager who also did not seem apologetic or surprised simply waived the tip. I would never recommend this place to anyone

Totally love the vibe of this place. The guac is really, really good, as are the empanadas. The brunch is also very good.

Great location on one of the older style streets in Philadelphia. Excellent staff, nice ambience food all delicious, plates cleared! A few vegetarian options. Pleased we chose here out of all the possible options!!

Great location and mood at the restaurant with friendly staff. The food was good, though some of the Meat was a little bit rough on the cutleries.

Met our son and girlfriend for dinner in Philly, decided to try Mixto. First the service was excellent our server was patient, explained everything and answered every question, and genuinely seemed happy to do so. After a plantains and shrimp appetizer which was very good the plantain being the best. The Shrimp was good but you could get that anywhere, the plantain with peppers, sausage cheese was really great. Our entrees were just as good, the scallops and risotto was excellent, I had the rib eye and shrimp with my son going for a mixed entrée with a little of everything. We had a great time enjoyed our night out with family. We will be back, thanks for a great evening.

The food was very good -- I had scallops and the combination with the rice was excellent. Also had an excellent glass of Chilian chardonnay (Cono Sur) that I've been searching for every since. Wait staff was very accommodating. A fun place with lots of groups and couples on a Friday early evening.

On Sundays, Mixto offers a happy hour starting at 4:30p. So, my wife and I went there, arriving at 4:15. Being an absolutely beautiful afternoon, we asked for an outside table. When we inquired about the happy hour, we were told that one must seat at the bar inside for happy hour. One is expected to pay full price elsewhere, including at outside tables. This is despite having the same servers providing the service. I could tell the servers were uncomfortable when asked about the policy. No doubt they get to have this conversation often. This is a sign of poor management.

I've been there twice for a friend birthday and date night with my husband. I love this place! Food and drinks are delicious, and their deserts are the best, especially tres leches and chocolate mousse cake. Would recommend this place for any occasion!

My wife and I came here for a brunch reservation after Valentineâs Day. We loved the atmosphere and the food! She had the Argentinian Breakfast (the steak was really good). I had the Cuban breakfast. Being part Cuban, I felt like I was having back in Miami at a Cuban restaurant. Although the Moro wasnât anything special, overall I liked my meal. We also had cafĂ© con leche and passion fruit smoothies, both of which we loved. We will definitely come back to try their dinner menu.

We have been in Philly for almost five weeks and have eaten at nearly 25 restaurants and this is among the top 5 for sure. Must haves: Cuban bread (to die for), plantains, yucca with this amazing lemon sauce, Ropa Vieja (amazing) Churrasco (we had both the Argentinian and Columbiaâs with shrimp) multiple rounds of mojitos (light on the sugar) and my sister had a strawberry mojito that was ridiculously good. Everything we had here was fantastic. Very highly recommended!

Mixto is a definite go to when you're in Philly! Located in a super cute area of the city. The food was delicious. Great cocktail/margarita menu. Cool building and atmosphere.

We started off with sopa. My husband had the black bean and I had the chicken soup. Both were very good. The chicken soup was a large portion with loads of chicken. For entrees we had Lomo Saltado and Arroz Con Camarones. Both were well prepared and nicely seasoned. The bottle of Frontera Pinot Grigio went well with our meal. Service was timely, efficient and attentive. Thank you, Adrian. The down side is that Mixto has a lively bar scene. We ate inside and the noise level was overwhelming and distracting. If you enjoy a quieter dining experience, choose outdoor seating.

Simply the best service and food during our stay in Philly. Amazing mofongo great tilapia and tender pork chops. Pair that with a wonderful setting and you have a great night. The staff work hard here seem to love what they do I wish they were in Fort Lauderdale. Best meal all weekend. Thank you

I went there to visit my son at U Penn. He suggested Mixto for dinner. I like Cuban/Spanish cuisine so we went. The restaurant was very nicely decorated and the food was very good. I had the simple chicken and rice and it came with black beans. This was just what I was looking for. My son had the large parrilla platter. This was very good as well. I would certainly go back.

Kept us waiting for 15 minutes for the table despite having booked, only to then have to get the table ready when we were taken over to it. Lovely food and Bloody Marys though and great service once we were sitting down. Not cheap but nowhere is for Brits in the USA since the calamitous Brexit decision!

Be prepared for noisy and lively! Food was perfect and the check was reasonable for 2 people. Cute for meeting for drinks, birthdays, large groups, or date night:). We would go back in a heartbeat.

We found this a solid place on multiple fronts- good food and drinks, great service, and nice decor/ambiance. We had an early dinner so didnât have any issues with noise level like other reviewers mentioned because it was still pretty empty. Not a cheap night out but would definitely eat here again.

Service was terrible. Veronica was a very cold host. She messed up my order and when I told her she said there was nothing she can do and the kitchen was closing. Not even an attempt to discount the bill for the inconvenience. My husband ordered a drink and she didnât even wait for me to tell her what drink I wanted, she just brought my husband his drink meanwhile my drink was completely empty. Very disappointed with the service, which ruined the entire experience of celebrating my graduation dinner after traveling over from NY.

we started with Bloody Mary's and were delighted with them. The upstasirs is quiet and I loved the exposed brick wall. The Cuban Breakfast was amazingly good, with a choice of egg, grilled plantains, sweet potato fries (which weren't my favorite) and a delicious rice and beans construction in the center of the plate. I can see why my friend ordered it again for a repeat visit. The Mexican tostada breakfast was also great. We were seated promptly for our reservation, and service was good throughout the meal with water refills and checks to see if we needed anything else. I recommend making a reservation.

My wife and I go to this restaurant every time we are in Philly. We love it here. Its a cozy two floor restaurant with a lively bar and excellent food. Authentic Cuban food is somewhat hard to find, but this place always succeeds. The empanadas are excellent. We usually get Ropa Viejo or Arroz con Pollo, or sometimes one of the many pork dishes. Always fresh and well made. The Plantains are always well cooked. One downside: it can be somewhat noisy, something about the acoustics and the layout⊠but we dont mind. All we see are people having a good time. It doesnt stop us from going there.

In town for the game and Googled restaurants in our area. How lucky to find Mixto. Good portions, reasonably priced, and most important, great tasting food. It will be a must every time I'm in this city.

One of my favorites! Food and drinks donât disappoint, ever! Only thing thatâs a hassle is the parking, would def advise Uber/Lyft or catching the train and walking. My drink: tropical mojito (their mojitos are great) Appetizers: empanadas, Maduros rellenas Meal: scallops and I substituted the risotto & mushrooms with yellow rice . Everything met my expectations per usual.

SO GOOD. Iâve been hearing about this place (and their happy hour) for months so I was happy to finally visit with My cousins during restaurant week. Reservation was for 6pm; I arrived around 5:20 and was still seated within minutes (which was surprising but hey, lucky me/us). Although the menu for restaurant week is shorter than the normal menu itâs still all delicious and portioned wonderfully (quality is good too). Their mojito is awesome. Service was great; I appreciated that everything was still up to par and we were treated with the same attentiveness and respect as someone ordering from the regular menu. I had the churrasco colombiano for my entree and pudin de pan for dessert. I also had their maduros and tostones bruschetta (not photographed).

I have visited Mixto every trip to Philly for at least 5+ years. A wonderful restaurant serving Cuban specialties. The bread served at the start of the meal is like nothing I've ever had...... SO yummy! Great night out for a properly priced meal. A vibrant bar scene as well with some great signature drinks.

Food is only slightly above average and most connoisseurs, of Dominican, Colombian food or others would agree that it hardly represents the culinary delights of Latin America. Service is good though.

Mixtoâs is one of our Favorite places to go when we need our Cuban Fix. The food never disappoints... that is North of Miami. The staff is normally friendly and helpful today that was not the case. Iâm not sure what was going on in the restaurant but you could feel something was definitely off. This was on Easter Sunday. Our plans changed last minute and our first thought was to drive to the city to Mixtoâs. We were pleasantly surprised to get reservation on Open Table. We had been there the last 2 Easterâs and it was wall to wall people. We arrive a little early for our 4:30 reservation and we were able to be seated right away. The hostess took us upstairs and started to seat us in between 2 other tables in the far corner. I asked to sit 2 tables over. She said I have to check to see if this is available. I understood given the day.. she came back and said we couldnât sit there but we could at another table in the corner. The whole upstairs was empty.. 3 tables total. I also asked if it were possible to sit downstairs... again completely empty... she came back and said no that this was the only table. By this time our friend had arrived so we sat at this only table available. I happened to go back into the open table app and saw that there were tables available all night long. The server came I again expressed my disappointment and he seemed to not really care. He did say Iâm sorry you are upset... but that is where it stopped. All throughout our meal I am expecting to see the tables fill up... we counted 2 tables that were seated upstairs until we left around 6:30... and the downstairs was still empty. I donât know if there has been a change in management and staff but the whole feeling and ambiance has changed and not for the good. I should have known something was up when we arrived. While I was waiting for the restroom I overheard the several staff members complaining about the shift and day. They quickly switched to Spanish when they saw I was standing there. Unfortunate for them I am fluent in Spanish. Restaurants live and die by their referrals and recommendations. Good help is hard to find and caring help is almost impossible. In my opinion the management team needs to become more involved. They could monitor, motivate, train the staff immediately hands on. I have enjoyed Mixtoâs for years with my friends and Family. I hope they can get things together so we can continue to enjoy again.

This place was incredible! Please try the fried cheese...it melts in your mouth! I had an egg dish with chirizo and cheese that was fantastic. My friend had the Cuban breakfast and loved it. The sweet plantains were extremely good. BTW, the bacon bloody Mary's were amazing!!!

We made an opentable reservation for a Friday night. Somehow, the table assigned to us was right next to the bar upstairs where a group of extremely loud people were located. There are no noise deafening panels to control the volume at all, so it was pretty bad. We weren't even able to carry on a conversation. The guacamole was good, and surprisingly the plaintain chips were as well. The tilapia with a mango salad was a good, fresh and light choice. My first margarita was extremely weak and the second was incredibly strong, like there was no method to the bartender's pour/ mix. Our waiter was good and checked on us a ton... right up until we were ready for the bill, and then we had to seek him out. Overall, we would definitely return, but hope to be seated elsewhere in the restaurant!

We started with two types of empanadas (cheese and beef) and chicharrones. The chicharrones were excellent. The empanadas were not that good. My fiance had the Ropa Vieja. She enjoyed it. My soon to be brother-in-law and I had the Vaca Frita con Maduros. It was pretty good. His wife had the special and thought it was just ok. The ambiance, the service, and drinks were all excellent. We will return.

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel, and was a great place to eat. The food was excellent, and the service top-notch. Cuban/American food is not overly spiced, so you don't have to worry about burning your taste buds. It's a modern, neighborhood restaurant.

This place serves an interesting mix of various Latin and Caribbean cuisines. Both food and drink portions are very large. Everyone in our party was very happy with the selection and enjoyed their meal. Friendly and quick service.

Came here last week randomly for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the food and experience. We were seated immediately even though we didn't have a reservation and our waiter came over as soon as we were seated. We ordered margaritas, empanadas, chicken soup and tostones bruschetta as appetizers. For our entrees we got arroz con pollo and arroz con camarones. The portion sizes were filling and all of our dishes were flavorful.

What a charming place! The staff was very attentive & friendly. The guac & plantains was awesome, with two fisted margheritas and cappucinos. Salads were fresh and innovative, not your run of the mill lettuce w/egg & shrimp. We had two rice dishes... One with shrimp, the other chicken, sausage n' olives... If I wasn't sure mamma would disapprove, plate licking would have ended the meal.. It was that yummy!

Nice looking restaurant with excellent fried calamari, however, paella was served with a couple pieces of uncooked lobster. After it was sent back it was served again uncooked. Rest of paella was OK. Manager provided discount on meal and free dessert which was good. Would not return to that restaurant.

Yum and yum!! If you enjoy trying new flavors, this restaurant is a must while visiting Philadelphia! Good service and really tasty meals.... tres leche cake.... delicious.

We had a 5;45 reservation on a Thursday night, arrived a few minutes early and was seated right away. Two floors for dinning, less than 1/4 full and we were seated next to noisy bar and then a party of 8 was seated next to us. Hard to have a relaxing conversation. Server was very attentive. Food arrived in timely manner, presented nicely and tasted good.

We came after seeing the ballet and in festive mood, and also good recommendations from friends. We decided on an assortment of Appetizers to share. Guacamole with Plantain Chips, Trio de Ceviche, Camarones al Ajillo. Everything was delicious. Then a Main Dish to share: Ropa Vieja . We were so full with the appetizers that we only tried it, very good. Two sides come with it, Rice(yellow / vegetable) and Maduros. Plenty of meat to share and take home. A Tres Leches as dessert. Delicious. Drinks were a Chilean Red Blend, a Spicy Mango Margarita & Mango Juice-all good. Service was friendly. We had a good time and plan to return.

Mixto is a hopping neighborhood place with a Latin American vibe. We've enjoyed Peruvian, Argentenianm, Mexican and Cuban food there. Great bar scene with mojitos to die for. A popular place with groups, as there's a big upstairs room as well as the downstairs seating area and bar. But beware, if you want to have a quiet romantic lunch or dinner, or a conversation with another couple, this probably isn't the best place unless you choose a very early evening time. Oh, and it's great for brunch too. Can you tell we like the food? Just not so much the noise.

Hard to rate a restaurant when you are simply there to eat very light meals but the first contact was really promising and it is why we are planning to return there to validate our score. We ended in this restaurant after an advice given by a kind old lady met on the street not far from this place and we thought ''why not?''. Unfortunately, we have not been able to sit on the terrace because all the seats were already taken, so on a sunny day, go there earlier than later. We finally seated just beside the sidewalk and it was perfect. We felt welcome by all the people we met and the service has been fast and efficient. I personnaly ordered an ''Ensalada Islena de Aquacate y Mango'' that I truly found refreshing. Not great cuisine, simply good cuisine. The balsamic vinegar dressing with a little sweet something was the perfect companion for mangos and avocado. Quite simple recipe though but efficient results. My daughter chosed the ''Mofango de Cerdo, Pollo y Camoron'' and it was different of everything we ever had. The main part was something like mashed plantain and it was very good too. I regreted not having seen more shrimps but remember, it was an apetizer. Tasty to the least because it may cut your apetite for the main meal. All along the hour we have been there, the service was efficient and they have done everything to please us. However, I cannot raise my score until we had the chance to get a main meal to see if their creativity works all around the menu. It is simply matter of time.

Tried Mixto for the first time and could not have been happier with the experience. Started off the meal with one of the best margaritas I have ever ordered, while my companion enjoyed a fabulous Pisco sour. We then shared their special for the evening, the vegetable Mofongo. For my entree, I enjoyed the scallops which were cooked to perfection and my companion enjoyed the Pernil. The pork was incredibly tender and all of the sides were delicious (especially the plantains). Service was exceptional! The atmosphere was lively but quiet enough that we could easily converse and focus on the fresh flavors of our meals. We will certainly return to Mixto!

We LOVE to go out every Saturday night in the Phila area anywhere from Bucks county Montgomery county and anywhere in CC Phila. We stopped in last night 7-29-17 and were told upon arrival at the door that the upstairs bar was less crowded. Sat down and the bartender with black / greyish hair was NOT as pleasant or service minded as the rest of the staff. His lack of communication, service and not even a smile or a Welcome caught us off guard and this carried on through the entire 1.5 hours we were there. The guy and couple sitting next us said the same, THEY WON'T BE BACK. YES the food was good, YES the place is very nice and YES the atmosphere was all good. It's a shame that this bartender lack of service will have us guessing if we should go back.

We stopped here on Friday Night for a late bite while strolling the city and we were very pleased. Our bartender was fast, friendly and happily suggestive on some apps. We got the Ceviche Trio and Scallops with asparagus risotto which was great. Be sure to ask for extra plantain chips with the Ceviche!

Was in Philly for two short days and wanted to experience some good place without having to Uber to go there. Found this place on TA and it was a pleasure for the moment that they called two days in advance to confirm my reservation and I discovered that I had booked for the wrong night. A good laugh and all was re-set. Good selection, menu not too long nor too short, just right. Good mix of dishes from different LA countries and quality was very good and not too adapted to local taste, based on a Venezuelan woman that was in our group. Waiter was very attentive and competent. A real pleasure all around

Let me start by saying the food is solid. It was good food. Now i will say this : Mixto is typical of restaurants that nickel and dine you to death. We were there at 330pm. We went cause the 19 yo and 21 year old young men wanted Cuban sandwiches. Nope. Thats a brunch item you have to order off the dinner items. Which are obviously heavier and more expensive Then we ask what mojito is popular. They say Passionfruit. There was the mojito price and $2 extra charge per drink for that splash of passion fruit juice. Next I asked for a condiment cup of garlic sauce for my rice. Yep, there was an extra charge. Then the tip was included. Thats fine, we always give 20%. We paid in cash but there was a credit card fee. I would imagine the bills are always close to $200 That is a lot to bring cash for. The woman server could care less about us. She barely gave us the time of day and got our appetizer order wrong, We had to get someones attention for everything. Would I recommend it?? Ehh, maybe. How can I sum this up: you feel like theyâre doing you a favor by letting you eat there instead of a nice comfortable meal

Visited in a group of five. We got a decent pitcher of sangria but our pitcher of mojitos was limeade. We ordered three different ceviches and calamari. All were good. The e menu is presented digitally on iPads. Great idea, with photos. Unfortunately the meals didnât look anything like the photos. Food was tasty, but I wouldâve ordered something different since the cazuela de mariscos photo did not have crabs legs, but it came with crab legs and a bunch of shellfish I had to pick. (Delicious but it wasnât the dinner I was expecting) Also the waiter kept upselling everything adding lobster, avocado, etc to everyoneâs dishes. The parillada de carne was over cooked, order this dish rare or med rare. Flavor was good tho.

Great place to get a great margarita and cuban inspired food! Margaritas are authentic and not full of syrup. My dinner was a Seafood Paella which was loaded with lobster, shrimp, calamari, mussels, and sausage and served with a saffron rice along with black beans and plantains. Food was seasoned to perfection and was more than enough for dinner. Service was excellent to. Features explained, offered refills, and plates cleared in a timely manner.

The service, food and atmosphere was FANTASTIC! With a Latin flair, the food in innovative and creative. The drink (cucumber mojitio was outstanding!!!) Service was friendly and efficient. Pea rice and black beans as side dishes was a welcome relief from the ho hum french fries, baked potatoes etc. The beef dish with red and green peppers was so tender you could cut it with a fork! I wa partial to this dish as it tasted just like mother used to make...a taste of home in a chic, sidewalk table in a great restaurant! GO!!!! You won't be disappointed! (Unless you are looking for the typical fare.)

Came across Mixto buy accident when looking for another place when staying in Philly recently and what a great find it turned out. We visited on a Weds evening and the place was busy with a good atmosphere even though we didn't arrive until after 9pm. They serve a broad range of South and Central American and Caribbean dishes (I went Argentinian, my wife Caribbean). The food was delicious and the service friendly and attentive throughout. Would not hesitate to go back to Mixto when next in Philly.

My wife and I travel to Phiily 3-4 times a year and we always eat here. Itâs a beautifully decorated sophisticated space. It seems to attract couples looking for an intimate dinner as well as families and groups celebrating a special occasion. Itâs both intimate and social. It can get crowded, but it never seems chaotic or noisy. The food is wonderful. Itâs Latino fusion, and itâs a nice mix. We have always had a delicious meal. The staff is friendly and the prices are very reasonable. I cannot recommend this restaurant more highly.

We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and were not disappointed. Our waitress was very patient given our party of 3 was busily play catch up and not paying attention to the menus to order. When we finally got around to it, we started with a classic mojito, the house Margarita and a coke. The classic mojito was fresh and redolent of lime and mint I thoroughly enjoyed it. The Margarita was frosty and it looked delish! My entree selection was pernil rotisado. The meal was plated with salad, sliced onion and tomato. There was a lovely sweet potato and a garlic sauce. It came with black beans, yellow rice and plantains. The pork was soft and succulent with just a tad bit of crispness on the edges. My husband ordered a Cuban sandwich which was served with plantain chips. I took a bite of his sandwich. It was good. Our cousin ordered ensalada de pulpo, an octopus salad. It was colorful, beautifully presented and looked tasty. Everything was fantastic, so good in fact that I sent my compliments to the chef. I rarely, if ever do that. The only disappointment was the "Cuban" bread at the start of the meal. It was nothing like the bread I have been served at other Cuban restaurants. It looked and felt like breakfast leftovers. Nothing like the fresh, hot crispy outside, soft inside Cuban bread I'm used to. Our waitress was prompt with requests and refills. The restauant was nicely decorated. We were seated downstairs. The space is small, I didn't check out the upstairs. It may be larger. We enjoyed ourselves and will be back.

A friend took me out for brunch and our meal was just delicious! We shared and I am so glad we did! She had breakfast tostadas. They were fresh and delectable. I had a Costa Rican breakfast with sausage. I ate every morsel. The fried cheese and plantains on the plate were cooked to perfection. Mimosa's and Bloody Mary's were $5 and yummy! The wait staff was extremely friendly, accommodating and attentive. We will definitely be back for dinner!

Having had several great lunches and dinners at Mixto we decided to try breakfast on a Sunday. Great choice! At about 10 a.m. we actually had to wait 10 minutes - you can make a reservation which we'll do next time. The Colombian omelet is hugely filling and the breakfast burrito was good too. The usual brisk but efficient service.

Excellent happy hour and bar crowd. Delicious empanadas and guacamole while watching the games! Today's salmon special is delicious,

Went with. Group of women during a large convention in Phillie. Waitress petted irritated that we were not going to porter a whole bunch of appetizers no drinks. The she refused to split the bill, even tho we said just divide it by 5. She would do it for 4 but not 5. 3% charge for using a credit card. ATM sitting in the restaurant! She said it was the manager. Food was average.

The staff accommodated a reservation for nearly twenty people. The food wasn't to my taste but the waiter did accommodate my changes to their dishes. The portions were not large but adequate and no body was disappointed with the quality of their food. We dined upstairs and the only real issue was the loudness of the background music which made conversations down a long table impossible.

Nice atmosphere. That's about it. Ordered appetizers garlic shrimp and mofongo. Shrimp tasted fishy. Mofongo was blah. Main meal was the churrasco. Made to order, tasty. No complaints. But service was horrid. Friday evening busy yes but this was ridiculous. I found myself looking for our waitress half the time. We sat outside. Maybe service is better inside but don't care to find out.

So thankful we took a long walk around the place we were staying! We passed this quaint gem along our and decided to give it a try for Sunday Brunch. So happy we did. Our service was quick, but not too quick, and friendly. We had reservations and we were glad we did as they were busy. Great food...both breakfast and lunch items, great drink menu. I would highly recommend this place. Great for families, couples, friends, etc.

Title says it all. Great menu options of both food & beverages! Several sidewalk tables also. The veggie side was freshly grilled & wonderfully seasoned.

Sat at outdoor table in mid-afternoon on Saturday. Awesome margaritas and mojito. best guacamole ever with plantain chips. people-watching most entertaining. cheerful service. Down the block from the Alexander Inn

So glad lyft driver and hotel recommended it. Food, ambience and location were perfect. It was on a lovely street as well.

Went to Mixto on the recommendation of the B&B owner where my father was staying. It was just a couple of blocks from where he was staying on a relatively quiet corner in West Washington Square area. We had a terrific dinner. We started with a very good Calamares with a delicious roasted tomato dipping sauce. My son and I both had the Lomo Saltado - a Peruvian "Stir -Fry" made with Filet Mignon tips, onion, tomato, cilantro and peppers in a savory mildly spicy sauce. Fantastic, perfectly cooked. My Dad had the Salmon a la Parilla - excellently grilled with a delicious lemon/thyme sauce served with nicely steamed spinach and grilled sweet potato. Then for dessert all 3 of us had the bread pudding which was very good - firm with fruit inside and a la mode. Service was very courteous, knowledgable and attentive. We all 3 would highly recommend MIxto for anyone looking for a great meal in the city, especially if you want to try a relativrly uncommon cuisine.

In town for a guys weekend and happened into Mixto for breakfast on a Sunday morning. The variety on the menu was outstanding. Even better were the Bloody Mary's that we enjoyed. The atmosphere was very relaxed and was a good mix of adults and families. We had a great view of the street scene and happenings. The food was outstanding! Service was great! They put up with our nonsense! All in good fun. We will definitely hit Mixto up again the next time we're in town! Great job guys!

In my experience I've learned that fusion restaurants don't really give you authentic flavors. So if you're looking for some authentic Latin flavoring, I wouldn't suggest Mixto. Some of the menu items are overpriced - bland chicken with rice, sausage, olives and 4 slices of plaintain shouldn't be $17 but it is. The drinks are good so I guess that's their redeeming quality. One thing I expect a Latin restaurant to get right is a mojito and I can say they delivered well on that. Margaritas are good too. With that being said you may want to come here for drinks and maybe just an appetizer.

The food was varied, tasty and reasonably priced. However we could not get our waiter to return to our table after the main meal was completed and we wanted to order desert. We finally flagged another waiter to ask for our check after 1/2 wait. There are too many other good places to eat in Philadelphia with decent table service. Go someplace else if you want the entire experience.

We needed a quick bite for a late lunch and were able to walk right in and grab a spot at the bar area high tables. Great sandwich choices and smoothies were good too.

Jet lagged after almost 24 hours of travel Mixto worked out well for a late Saturday evening meal. I sat at the bar and the bartenders were just the right mix of social, friendly but not in my face. It was great to sit and zone out while people watching, perfect sleep deprived entertainment. I guess I was hungry, because I ate every bit of my delicious meal. The Bandeja Tipica was excellent, and my bartender was pleased I chose that because he's from Colombia. He stopped by a couple times with tips on how to eat it for maximum enjoyment :) The caipirinha was just right, too. The menu has lots of great options, I'd love to return and sample more...

Stopped by Mixto for happy hour and it did not disappoint. The vibe was perfectâlaid-back, upbeat, and right in the heart of the Gayborhood. I had the tacos al pastor, and they were full of flavorâsuper tender and nicely seasoned. One of my friends ordered the same, and we both loved them. Our other friend had the guac that came with plantain chips, and that disappeared quick tooâfresh and super tasty. For drinks, I kept it simple with a cold Medalla Light, one friend had a sangria, and the other went all in with a mojito pitcher (no regrets there). Everything came out fast and the service was on point. Definitely a great spot to kick back, catch up, and enjoy the evening. Iâd go back in a heartbeat.

I received a gift card to Mixto so we tried it out for dinner on a Sunday. We were not disappointed! The entrees were amazing. (Shrimp and sausage) Arroz con Camarones dish was so good and enormous portion size. The scallop vegetable risotto was perfect blend of creamy pasta with tangy vegetables. For dessert we had flan and chocolate con leche. Pair the desserts with a cup of coffee and you're going to be in heaven!

Was looking forward to the Maduros Rellenos appetizer but this time it was dry and flavorless. Ropas Vieja meat was tough and stringy. Arroz con Camarones ok but nothing special. Everything tasted old. The tacos on other tables looked good but thatâs not Cuban cuisine. Wonât be back and suggest you go elsewhere unless a low end bar menu is what you are looking for. Also made a reservation and the hostess wanted to give us a table by the door and the place was empty. Really, whatâs the point.

Happy hour or else. OK⊠we get it, itâs 5:30 and your short staff but but we felt the host almost forced us to eat at the bar. (Change of shifts maybe?) The apps were good (wings and guacamole and chips) My entree scallop and artichoke dish was very MEH.. but hereâs the kicker⊠my wife ordered the sea bass meal that came out a half an hour after my meal. She said her meal was good tho. All in allâŠMixto is a cool spot. Weâre in our 50âs so maybe itâs just not our flavor of place. It was packed when we were leaving, so it appears people love Mixto. . Before I sign off⊠đ I want to say that the staff were all nice and tried to make up for the delayed dish.

The cheese empanadas were so tasty. I could have made a meal of just one of each of their choices. For entrees,I had the Pechuga Pollo with the lemon butter sauce and my husband ordered Arroz con Camarones. Both dishes were plentiful and delicious. Our server was so pleasant and appropriately attentive even though she was extremely busy. My only complaint was my chicken breast was somewhat overcooked. Otherwise, a great meal on our last night in Philadelphia.

This experience was a complete disaster. Mice were literally running across the upstairs dining area when we bought it to the managers attention she said she would call the cops if we didn't leave she and other employees were very rude and insensitive about the whole situation

Mixto is really something special. Starting from the physical ambiance--sidewalk seating under trees and umbrellas--to the superb dishes and suave Latino music, it is topped off by such an exquisite taste.

We were riding high after beating the Philadelphia Union 3-1, and we wanted to keep the fun going. We were lucky to find this place by chance. The layout is really cool, as it takes up two floors in an old building. The service and food was 5 star too. We had the Ceviche, Steak, and Empanada. Everything was excellent!

We visit Philadelphia regularly to see family and friends. We always try to get down to this restaurant on 14th and Pine. They have South American food at great prices and taste. Have always been for lunch. We never miss this place on our trips

I have been coming to this restaurant for years and my last visit may bring that to an end. The major issue was the service. Our waiter seemed to be in a coma, mumbling and never breaking the smallest of a smile. They always bring Cuban bread to the table, that never happened. The food was decent but no where as good as previous visits. Finally, the waiter only returned to our table to give us the check, but we wanted some coffee after our meal. The busser was very anxious to clear the table and more than once had to be told that we were not finished. Overall not very happy with my experience there. The service needs great improvement!!

There are downstairs and upstairs eating areas tat both have bars. Visited Mixto for a birthday party. One of the appetizers was the mac&cheese; which was delicious and NOT watery; which can happen if not prepared correctly and the mixture of cheeses was just right. Ambiance is nice and the wait and bar staff were both friendly. The main course was the Paella for one and it comes in a big bowl with a lobster claw and a half of lobster sticking out. The Paella had shrimp, chicken, scallops, mussels in the shell, and clams in the shell; all served over yellow rice. I would visit here again to try the Paella again.

Always awesome, always fantastic, food was amazing, great service and ambience was perfect, this is our 9th time celebrating a 70th birthday. Thank you Mixto... Jesus

I am so glad I ate here as it had been recommended by trusted foodies who spoke accurately and positively about the food. And yes the food is wonderful. We were a large group and everyone enjoyed their meal. We also enjoyed many cocktails and other offerings from the drinks menu. What we did not at all enjoy was our service. The staff are not helping this place. When I called to confirm my reservation as the restaurant suggests, it took ten minutes for me to finally get the woman on the phone to understand that I was calling to confirm not make a reservation, and even though my name is fairly simple, she asked me to spell it four times. The bathrooms were in ghastly shape --two stalls had no toilet paper and the sinks were wet-- and we were there not far into a busy Saturday night service. And then our waiter. Sheesh. Messed up orders, would not ask the whole table if they wanted something else, walked away as people were still talking to him. Not good. I can recommend the food but little else, and I'm not sure if the food is enough to lure people back given there are just so many terrific places in Philly these days that are not burdened with such unprofessionalism throughout the experience.

My wife and myself had the misfortune to visit this establishment last night and found the food to be extremely bland and tasteless. Bruschetta to start with had no garlic, no onion and was super bland and dry, main course of ropa vieja was you've guessed it also tasteless. On complaining to the server her surly response was that she would talk to her manager in the morning. Terrible food, terrible service do yourself a favour and give this place a big miss.

We deeply regret that we were not able to eat at this restaurant due to an unreliable reservation system. At 14:00 on Dec 30, my daughter made a reservation for 15 for the 31st of December to have dinner at Mixtos. Approximately 15-20 minutes after requesting the reservation, she got a call from the restaurant to ask if we were still interested in our reservation. Of course we said yes. So they confirmed. We are deeply disappointed by the fact that the restaurant called my daughter at 20:40 on Dec 30th to say they can not accommodate us that they were fully booked. I talked to Magaly the manager. She explained the restaurant has to call back to confirm, which they did, only to cancel late at night. Sadly we were left with no place to eat because how can you find a place for 15 people on such short notice for the 31st. Rude and disappointing.

Another great meal with friends celebrating the 4th of July holiday weekend. The offer generous portions and have a good variety of sweet and savory brunch offerings. Highly recommend pairing your meal with a café con leche and their passion fruit mimosas. They are also super family friendly ; )

This restaurant steals from its customers, risks your life by disregarding allergies, always gets your order wrong, and has terrible customer service. Once, they charged me for another customer's food and didn't issue me an immediate refund. Another time, they added a credit card fee to our bill even though we paid in cash. Because it is one of the few Latino restaurants in CC, I continued to order from there but I'm not exaggerating when I tell you they have gotten EVERY SINGLE ORDER WRONG. Every time I order delivery from them, there's a missing item and the only way to retrieve the item is to go to their store even though I already paid a delivery fee. When I order a smoothie, they make a point of asking whether you want it with milk or water, and even though I specify water (because of an allergy) they still make it with milk. One time, I paid for a smoothie to be delivered and, because it was made with dairy instead of water, I walked to the store and asked them to remake it and they made another one exactly the same with milk again. That is how incompetent they are. It got so bad that I had to call each time I ordered to remind them to make it with water and they still get it wrong. Every time I complain, I either provide a photo or bring in the item that was incorrect. However, they continue to refuse to re-deliver missing items so if you're not willing to drive to the store after paying a delivery fee, you are essentially giving them free money. They operate as if they are a charity and your bill is a donation, not a transaction. Lastly, a server once rolled her eyes when my friend asked for an extra napkin. Given the pattern of missing items and refusing to redeliver, I asked to speak to the owner. I was promised by both general managers that she would call for us to discuss a refund. Do you think she ever called? No. Because the restaurant sustains itself on taking your money and not fulfilling your order.

Excellent Cuban food. The hot sauce was great. Make sure to try desert. The mixto plate allows you to sample several. Don't skip the coffee.

We enjoyed lunch at this restaurant. Definitely have to find onstreet parking. There are restaurants all around. We picked this one because of the beautiful paintings all around. The service is nice and they have restrooms onsite. They have some fun cocktails. We enjoyed the octupus, lamb chops and rice with saffron. It was a fantastic experience.

Great place to eat and have a margarita. Friendly staff and good food. The Lola margarita is one of the best I ever had. I would live to make it to their late night dancing sometime

This place was very busy on a Thursday about 7pm. Hard to hear one another. Wait staff efficient. I mark it down since I didn't really enjoy some of the food - very chewy and overcooked pork appetizer. My ropa vieja was almost inedible due to how chewy it was. Never had it that way anywhere. Taste was a little sweet but otherwise fine. Cuban black beans did not taste like traditional to me. Maybe I didn't have the best dishes. I wouldn't go back.

Party of eleven, we were loud and changed our reservations a couple of times, no problem they said....Mixto was so accommodating to us all, will definitely return when we are in the neighborhood again. The food was terrific, our only complaint was the pork (pernil), it was overly salty. The sea bass was outstanding, worth the cost. The bread, amazing, we could not get enough, our server, Rich, personable, efficient and was on point for everything we needed without us asking. The empanadas were so delicious, cooked to perfection. Mofongo was another hit, in fact, everything we ordered, we all loved. This is a rarity for my family, everyone enjoying every dish, no complaints...no doubt we will return again. We went on a Saturday at around 3PM while the restaurant was semi quiet...do your tastebuds a favor and try this place.

The most important part of any restaurant is the food and the food at Mixto is very good. In fact all or the dinners we had on a recent visit were very good. However, the restaurant can be very noisy. We were seated near a bridal party that was screeching so loudly the sounds and vibrations seemed to go right through us. We started with a pitcher of their margaritas which we did enjoy. We waited and waited for our appetizers to come but they never did. Eventually our main courses came (then we realized they forgot the appetizers). Great food but maybe not a great restaurant. To me, Mixto is like a cheaper Alma de Cuba. Please do note you get what you pay for.

Service was excellent. Great variety of Latino American food. The plantain Bruscceta guacamole and ceviche were excellent. The paella, although it was a very generous serving and plenty of meat, it was dried and the chicken over cooked. It needed flavor too. The monitors were good and the pitcher was well worth the price. We had reservations and the table was not ready. It was very busy. The atmosphere was good but noisy.

This is a great spot that has stood the test of time. A great staff that is welcoming and knowledgeable continues to impress. The atmosphere is lively and vibrant. We ordered several cocktails and all were pleased with all of them. The food was authentic, well prepared, and were nice sized portions. We had various empanadas, two ceviches, and guacamole for appetizers. They were delicious. Some of the entrees we ordered were the salmon, which was fresh and light, and the lamb chops, which were grilled with vegetables and very satisfying. Mixto is a solid, consistent venue that we will be back to. Food quality: A- Service: A- Atmosphere: A- Water test: A-

The restaurant is nice and cozy. The steak was thin cut (server told me thick) therefore they couldn't get it mid rare as I've asked but overalls the food is good!

What a terrific menu! So many choices. The chicken noodle soup was like my grandmothers. The beef dish was beyond good. Would definitely return. The plantinas are really good too!

Actually we were here for dinner, and returned the next day for breakfast. Hello Mixto! Good food, nice portions, interesting recipes from Cuba, Equador and other Latin American countries. Outdoor seating is lovely on solid furniture. The waitress was a pleasure. For dinner I had sopa de cammarones, shrimp soup, not exactly soup it was full of shrimp, clams and a mussel of two. $18. My husband and the arroz con pollo, a Cuban dish (as explained by the waitress) huge and full of chicken. Black beans on the side. So good that we retuned for breakfast. Good. Very good. Bathrooms are one flight up the stairs.

Went here on friends' recommendations. We were very disappointed. Service was slow but friendly. We started with the Tostones Bruschetta which arrived lukewarm and got colder which did nothing for the flavor. I ordered the Paella Valenciana for one and my husband order the Ropa Vieja. The main issue was with the paella. The rice was clumpy and had no flavor, just a lot of yellow color. The shell-fish and shrimp were over-cooked and somewhat rubbery. Thankfully the half a lobster was delicious and not over-cooked. A very bland rice dish with a lot of wasted seafood for $32. I always take left-overs with me but it wasn't worth it. Maybe it was me, but I thought the rice should have been slightly crispy from cooking in a large pan and been better seasoned. The Ropa Vieja had more flavor and the meat was tender. Serving sizes for both were huge so we didn't need the appetizer. We will never go back. Too many better places to eat in this city.

We started off with Pulpo Saltado, a tasty combination of octopus, potatoes and a sauce that was terrific for mopping up with bread. One of us had the Ropa Vieja, beef so tender it was like threads of meat. The Arroz con Pollo Cubano was also excellent, tender pieces of chicken with Cuban sausage served with black beans (or red if you prefer); the scallops were tender and the portion was generous (no skimping on the scallops). The only complaint was about the Tilapia Mango, where our friend felt the fish taste was not right. We had a table by the window that was relatively quiet. The place did get noisy and there is an upstairs that may be quieter. We didn't check it out. Service was efficient and very friendly. They started us off with drinks promptly and didn't rush us with the appetizer. All in all, a wonderful dining experience and we would definitely go back there. Reservations are advisable. We were staying on South Broad Street within easy walking distance.

Great atmosphere, excellent service and the food was good. Reservations were made through open table...

We visited this restaurant more by accident. Or maby not ... we passed by the restaurant and it stood out from all the others we have beenlooking at in a search for dinner. The athmosphere is lovely, though a littleloud. The food is great ( i got the shrimps) and we had some great wine with our dinner.

Good food, good times. I was in the are for business and met a local friend here on his recommendation. Good food, good service, nice vibe, enjoyed being in a gay (or gay-friendly) restaurant.

From start to finish the staff was warm & welcoming. Weâve tried an incredible amount of Latin restaurants and always compare it to my husbandâs familyâs homemade Cuban cuisine. The food here exceeded our expectations! We sat outside on a warm fall day and enjoyed the laid back ambiance of this part of the city. An easy walk from the theatres on Broad! Canât wait to come back!

With the Olympics looming, we found ourselves in Center City ,(Philadelphia) and close to Mixto, an authentic Central and South American Restaurant. A beautiful, tree lined old town Philadelphia street. Everything from Brazil's National Drink, the Caipirinha, heavy on sugarcane rum, mint, and mulled lime. I had ,"Ropa " a stewed short rib of beef. Stewed in tomatoes, onions, and peppers. Ropa literally translates to old cloth. The seasoning is amazing. Served with black beans and sweet plantains. The surroundings remind you of a South American Plaza. - the food and drinks are tasty. We will be back. Cheers!

Here is my honest review. The area is very nice and the ambience was very live. The look of the place was awesome and the decor was on point. The staff - A plus in friendliness. Here is where there is a flaw⊠The fish sticks were more breading than anything and lacked flavor. The water container was cute. The entrees were disappointing. The rice was old or at least tasted very tough and a bit too salty. The shrimp was good but needed more cooking. The maduros were delicious. The potato âpattyâ was cold and tasted too mushy and plain for the price that went with the pernil. The pernil was âokayâ as it lacked flavor. The worst part was the flan! This thing was tough and never have I had a tough flan but instead it is supposed to be soft and easy to cut with a fork BUT this was not that. The coffee was OK at best as it lacked flavor though the presentation was nice. Will we come back? Probably not but if you are in the area for a nice spot for the âvibeâ then this is nice. For the food, I cannot recommend it.

We really enjoyed Mixto we went for Valentine day. We decided to have 3 appetizers instead of dinner. The appetizers were great. We also had Mojitos that were really good. I would definitely recommend Mixto in Philadelphia. You won't be disappointed. We will be going back.

Well open air if you want it to be or air conditioned if you prefer, But enough about that. Nice restaurant for appetizers lunch full meals a lil pricey but well worth it. Drinks ere great appetizers Delish!!! Beautiful place

Everything here is delicious! I have gone for dinner and recently for brunch; everything was tasty. I would highly recommend Mixto and I am a foodie.

We got lucky with a walk in here. Four of us were seated quickly in a two thirds full restaurant and within about ten minutes it was rammed full and buzzing. It took us a while to order because there were so many great things on the menu. My husband had two starters and the rest of us ordered mains. All of our food arrived together and within ten minutes of ordering, perfectly cooked and super delicious. I particularly enjoyed my skirt steak with shrimp and veg and a very good margarita.

Mixto hands down has my favorite menu in the city. I love their brunch, specifically the Costa Rican Breakfast. I always order it with the vegan chorizo which is divine. Their dinner is also very good. Their service is hit or miss, but I generally don't care because the food is so good.

The food and Sangria was so good. They give you big portions too. Staff was very friendly and attentive.

Upon arrival we were seated at a nice table for 4 looking out the large open doors. Great for people watching. Loved the Blood Orange Sangria...all of the cocktails ordered were inventive & delicious (not too sweet). The star of the evening was the paella....perfectly seasoned & not too wet...seafood was yummy. All of my cohorts enjoyed their entrees as well. Donât miss it for a fun time in Philly!

The pisco sours had no taste. We began drinking these in Chile and often order them, and have had much better elsewhere in two countries. The octopus salad was delicious, but the plato mixto was not.

We were riding bikes down Pine st. when we saw this place. Decided to grab a bite for brunch. Great food with a bit of a kick(very flavorful). Staff was very friendly and food was well presented and super tasty. Prices were very reasonable for being in city. Perfect portions so not to get too full. I would highly recommend the Columbian Frittata, it was delicious. Happy eating!!

Group of business travelers hiked to the restaurant and were rewarded. Excellent food and service. Reservation recommended; we didn't have one but they squeezed us in. Just ask about their group policies (separate checks, number of credit cards per table) if these may be an issue for you. They met our requirements with little resistance. Muchas gracias para todo!
Authentic, tasty, great options.
Excellent food, with options from all over Latin America. Waitstaff was excellent, and prompt. Portions were a average size; not too small, not too large. For families with young children, I recommend booking for about 1700 or 1730. It starts to get much louder around 1830.
