Sushi for beer lovers

By dan raphael |

Actually, great sushi for everybody--fresh, generous and creative. Clean cozy place with great service. For appetizer the the monkey brain--an avocado with crab meat, shrimp, veggies, sauce. Fine variety of rolls, including one with raw beef on top, and high quality sashimi. As for the beer, it comes from Roscoe's around the corner--18 fine taps. (You can order the sushi in Roscoe's, but Miyamoto much more pleasant place to be.

Hidden Gem

Went to this restaurant on advice of a friend. 6 pm on a Saturday and it was packed (it's a small place about 10 tables). Service was attentive. Sushi rolls inventive and fresh. We got some sashimi, traditional rolls and a specialty roll. Everything was tasty, fresh and beautifully presented with fresh flowers and beet shavings. Worth the trip. Will now be my go-to sushi place.

Best Sushi in PDX

By kyman55k |

Our family is big into fresh Sushi and love trying the various non-conveyor belt spots. The Sushi here is incredible, fresh with big fat cuts of Sashimi. The rolls are unique and flavorful, but not to the point of being odd or taking away from the sushi flavor. We ordered the chef's choice "Omakase" $40 option and were thrilled not only with the flavors, but the quantity as well, move Sushi than we could handle. The most amazing thing to me was their smoked eel, I am NOT a fan of smoked eel usually (too fishy) but it came with our Omakase and I ended up loving it. If you are a fan of sushi, or looking to try something new don't pass on Miyamoto.

Best Unagi Ever!

By Melanie J |

Absolutely the BEST unagi I've ever put in my mouth! All of the sushi prepared by Andreas and Lorenzo was delicious! Both chefs and our server Sara deserve 6 stars for their friendly service! We had "Monkey Brain" which was a whole avocado encasing crab meat and spicy tuna covered a very flavorful sauce, salmon skin hand roll, tamago, tobiko, hamachi maki with shiso, and uni. Cocktails from Roscoe's next door completed this fun meal. Go there hungry! Miyamoto's Happy Hour ends at 6:00 PM.

Excellent food, service and presentation of entrees

My son found this place (a bit off the beaten track) but in a very cool area. Everything about this place was fantastic - food was fresh, service fantastic and the presentation of the food was a work of art. Highly recommend Miyamoto!

Best Sushi in town!

By lndr4life |

This is a little local place, tucked away on a side street in the Montavilla/Mt. Tabor area. We wandered by it after watching a movie at the Academy Theater. Since we'd had Flying Pie Pizza at the theater we weren't hungry but went back the next day. BEST miso ever! And everything else was great, too. The atmosphere is so easy, the wait staff is amazing and the food is top shelf. Happy hour from 4 to 6 is the BOMB!!

Amazing sushi!!

By Zoe S |

My mom and I went to Miyamoto and got an amazing seaweed salad and appetizer sampler, edamame, shrimp tempura, and Miyamoto roll sushi with all types of fish. It was so tasty!!! I will definitely be a regular. Super authentic and good cocktails too!!

Delicious and imaginative sushi!

An unpretentious, but very good place for sushi. Lots of choices, all kinds of fish and veg, cooked and uncooked, etc. Nice presentation and all freshly made.

Don't go there!

By Eric L |

Don't go there because then I'll have to wait longer for my favorite sushi in Portland! Seriously, try the jalepeno ninjas! They are amazing! Omakase is always be a great choice if you like all types of sushi. I've never had anything there that wasn't fresh and delicious! Service has always been good and portion sizes are generous. Also, the beer selection from Roscoe's is available there and is a revolving list from 18 taps. I highly recommend trying Miyamoto!

Great sushi and Japanese food

By David L |

Had happy hour here but ordered some things off the regular menu. All of the sushi was great, plus we had poke and battered veggies. Drinks were also very good. Nice, friendly atmosphere, not a fancy place.

One of my favorite sushi places in town

By Madeline Cook |

The sushi here is always beautifully plated and very tasty. The prices are modest for the quality. I will usually order multiple things off the menu and eat it over at roscoes next door while I try some craft beer, which you can enjoy on the miyamoto side as well!

Incredible

This is such a great place to eat. Super well prepared food in a fun, casual environment. A great place for date night or just a great meal.
