I was in the mood for hot food, so I got the tempura mix app and korean BBQ beef, and it was all average. The tempura wasn't cooked enough, and the BBQ seemed like it had been sitting around for a while, instead of cooked fresh. Nothing was bad, just not great. Also, the waitress couldn't answer questions about the dish I wanted to order.

The sushi here is great! But it does seem a bit overpriced...$6 for a California Roll and $12 for special rolls. You get a complimentary bowl of miso soup with every meal and a half an orange for dessert, a nice touch. I do not recommend the gyoza as it is deep fried and very crunchy, not like the pan fried soft gyoza at other places.

I have walked past this restaurant 100 times and never even thought to go in because the outside appearance is nothing special. I wish I had gone in years ago.. The fish is so fresh and their speciality rolls are amazing. GREAT menu and extremely affordable. New go to spot for sushi for sure!

Came here because of it's great location close to the Bahia Resort. Basically, the food was good, but service was not at all warm, and was very slow. Took forever to have anyone take our orders. Water came way late after sitting down. The waitress spilled one glass all over one of us and chastised us when we tried using our cloth napkins to help wipe her off, which was rather weird/rude. As far as food goes, it was quite tasty. Spider roll and spicy tuna were on point. Mango salmon roll was pretty bland. Chicken teriyaki was delicious, but came out after absolutely everything else was already eaten, so that was really annoying. One of the servers was really sweet and didn't charge my vegetarian friend for her sauteed vegetables (which she ordered off menu because there were little to no veg options). Overall, definitely an average experience. Wouldn't return.

We were directed to this restaurant after asking our resort concierge where a good place to get some sushi was. This was his first choice, and next time we visit, it will be ours as well. It doesn't look like anything fancy from the outside, but as they say, it's what's inside that counts. The staff was prompt and attentive, the seating comfortable, and the food fantastic. We eat sushi about once a month back home. The quality and artistry of Mizu's fare is easily in our top 10%. Everything was fresh and colorful, the portions were generous, and just thinking about how tasty everything was is starting to make my mouth water. There were also some unexpected little things like free miso soup, shaved mandrian oranges, and sticks of gum that were gifted to us throughout and after the meal that made the experience even more pleasing. We really liked this place and highly recommend it to sushi lovers.

We stayed right around the corner from Mizu so we went here out of convenience after a long day of traveling. We got the tuna sashimi which was very fresh, the Spider roll, and the Adrian roll which were all very good. We walked out very satisfied. Highly recommend this place!

This is a good place near Misison Beach to get Sushi, Japanese, and Korean cuisine. The Korean short ribs barbecue is very good.

Went there on a recommendation from a local and we are glad we did. The place looks a little run down from the outside, but we went anyway. We ordered and were very happy with the susi, very quick to get the food and it was excellent! Very friendly staff even though there was a language barrier. I would go back for sure!

We really enjoyed the sushi. Brought our two boys 7 and 9 and they loved it. The staff really catered to them and made it a great experience.

Looks rather drab from the outside with a tiny parking lot for 5 cars, and dated decor inside, but it offers wonderful views of the bay and park across the street as well as very good sushi at reasonable prices. Free miso soup at beginning and cut oranges at end. It seemed like it was run by an older husband and wife team. But the sushi was good enough to make me want to go back again this trip.

We've been here numerous times since they opened some years ago. The service is always excellent and the food very fresh and high quality. Last weekend was no exception. This time we also tried a Japanese dessert whose name escapes me. It is a soft dough wrapped around ice cream. It was very good. They also serve some fresh fruit at the end. This time was fresh cherries- excellent!

We had a dinner of sushi and udon noodle bowl. it was fine, but just average. The udon bowl was unremarkable. I had better sushi at another restaurant nearby with a much better view of the ocean. Also, the place is ok, but needs updating as it is aging. Service was fine. Given alternatives around, I think this is an average choice; not bad, but nothing special.

We Love Sushi and this place didn't disappoint us! Don't miss the mango salmon roll. We tried a variety of sushi rolls and sashimi. It was all displayed beautifully. It was very fresh. The waitress is obviously invested in the business and didn't speak much English, which was a wonderful part of the experience. She really enjoyed seeing the patrons enjoying the food. Very family oriented!

Family owned and a bit run down building wise (Mens bathroom needs attention) but the food was good value and tasty. We needed a family meal away from burgers & this delivered with 3 kids options revolving around teriyaki chicken. The Sesame Teriyaki chicken on the kids menu was a standout option. Other diners were eating sushi rolls by the plate full and we enjoyed a shared Bento Box (we ordered one each and it arrived as a shared big plate). Miso soup is offered immediately for adults which is nice and they finish with half an orange each & a fortune cookie. Oddly there were Korean dishes also. Parking is to the side - we parked & paid next door before we spotted it. The Boardwalk is diagonally across the road and good family fun afterward. Safe & full of families on the Sat night we went.

Really friendly staff, great with kids, food was excellent too. We stumbled across after a trip to SeaWorld and it was a highlight of the day.

Our son took us to Mizo for our first meal in San Diego this year and it was one of our best. Tasty spicy Thai with friendly service and a small price.

Delightful food! Personable and professional service! Perfect experience! It was so good we visited the next evening, delighted again!!

Can not review the food- just want to let the owner know we just couldn't do it. Food might be great but the way you walk in dirty, restaurant so brightly lite you see all the wear and tear and dirt in dining room. Food might be good but just couldn't take the chance eating uncooked cuisine in a place that looked like this.

Was in Mission Bay area for a course and not a lot of nice restaurants in the area so after a long walk I came across Mizu. It was well lit, and it was fairly busy. It offers Japanese and Korean food. The operators were Japanese and very pleasant and business like. the menu was good with lots of great choices. I opted for Seafood Udon soup and it was absolutely delicious. Delicate flavours, plenty of seafood and satisfying. Topped it off with house Sake and a delightful meal was had for a solo diner.

We come here every year were in town. Great, fresh, different sushi options. Prices are awesome and it's consistent. I don't know why it's not packed with people at dinner time.

we were out searching for some place to eat. Parking was a bit of a nightmare so we just kept driving. We ended up here and were a little nervous....an empty sushi bar is generally not a good thing. There were two ladies working and they were both very nice. We ordered 5 different sushi rolls and really enjoyed them. the fish was fresh and because the place was empty the service was great. Definitely worth a try.

Beautiful looking food some items better than others. Half our group likes it half didn’t care for it. Service was really good and very friendly.

They have really good and fast service, and delicious food, for vegetarians as well. We ordered the avocado roll, spring rolls and stir-fry noodles with tofu and veggies. We loved the restaurant and their service!

Stayed at nearby Bahia hotel for short meeting and ordered a takeout lunch. Reasonably priced $13 for large portions. Ordered the vegetarian and tofu noodles which came with miso soup, small salad, large vegetable and tofu noodles with large side of rice. Enough food for lunch and dinner. Not particularly flavorful noodles or vegetables.

We have a 6 year old who doesn't eat sushi, so this was a great casual spot that we knew would be no frills, quick, and affordable in and out before he got too bored. It doesn't make sense to bring him to an upscale place like Cannonball. The building leaves much to be desired (water stained drop ceiling) but I don't mind hole in the wall places like that. Food and service were both great. I'd go back.

We ate here about 4 times in our two month stay in Mission Beach. It was always really good, fresh, never crowded. Highly recommend this restaurant.

I love this restaurant so much that I plan my family vacations around it's location. I am absolutely hooked!! Their complimentary hot Miso soup is so comforting, and the Tempura Philly Rolls are Aaamaaazing! Fast friendly service, everything tastes great, and a view in every window. I Love this place!!

We ate lunch here. I had the tempura udon with a side of inari sushi. My wife had the vegetable tempura with the cucumber salad. The food was good but the portions were a little skimpy. For example, there was only one small shrimp tempura when other places give four or five. The restaurant reminds me of a diner done up with a Japanese theme. Service was good but because of the low value, we would try elsewhere. We gave it three dots.

We were staying at the Bahia Resort and decided to give Mizu a try. The food was fresh and delicious and the service was great. We enjoyed it so much we ate here twice in one week. Don't be fooled by the exterior - the food is very good.

I loved the ambiance of this place. One whole side of the restaurant is all windows looking out at the water and it is lit with twinkle lights and pretty Chines lanterns. This would have been a great place for a romantic dinner. I was with my husband, brother, and my 1 1/2 year old son. They were very accommodating and provided a high chair, crayons, and a water cup with a lid for my son. We all loved our food. I got a sushi roll that I absolutely loved, husband got salmon, and brother got teriyaki chicken. I tried a little of both of their dinners and they were both delicious. The only reason I am not rating it a 5 is because the service was very slow. We were there for about 2 1/2 hours and that is a long time to try to keep a toddler happy and entertained.

It is a little odd to see a permanent sale on regular menu items but the buy one get one free or half price is actually printed on their menus. The service was efficient and helpful. The restaurant has a nice view of the bay and is a block down from Belmont Park. For Sushi, the price was reasonable and the fish was fresh. The front door is actually on the parking lot side under the awning not the white doors near the sidewalk. The layout of the entrance is a bit of a maze since you come in near the back and the dining room is near the street.

We were a party of 11 (5 kids and 6 adults) celebrating a party. The service was great and the staff was very pleasant and fun. One of them brought out the live halibut to show the kids. We never felt rushed. The food was awesome. We mainly had sushi but one of us didn't eat fish and she enjoyed the chicken dish and the korean barbeque. The mango sushi roll was a hit with a couple of people, but all the rolls were good. For 11 people the price was pretty reasonable. You don't want it to be too cheap with sushi, but it wasn't ridiculous by any means. Highly recommended.

We have always had great sushi meals at Mizu. We have been yearly regulars on our vacations to MB. This year we had the scrumptious spicy tuna and Cali Beach rolls. Our young daughter likes getting chicken with rice in some form as she has'nt quite got the seafood appetite yet. The owner remembered us and served us complimentary green tea ice cream to end another wonderful meal here. They have upgraded their dining room seating with padded wooden chairs and booth seating. There was no wait. Parking nearby at either Belmont park or across the street at the public park are options due to extremely limited spaces in front of this business (not unusual for MB).

Great staff, our waitress was a little sweetie! The miso soup was a nice touch, we gave the chef "creative license" to make us our selection of sushi and he out performed our expectations! Great place for super sushi/nigiri!

We stopped for dinner to go because of the positive reviews and we're glad we did. The food was great and very fresh. We will go back.

The owner was not a nice person, she took away the menus and we did not order yet, we wanted it to know some info about a rolls, but she just took the menus away, when we were serve, it was not taste good, so bad food, bad service, high price.

We were pleasantly surprised how good the food was and the owners were very nice. I am very picky on sushi places and I would go back here.

My husband and I were staying at the Bahia Resort, and were walking along the bay, and noticed Mizu. We decided that since we hadn't had sushi in a while, we would stop there. We were very pleased with the sushi. It was delicious. The service wasn't bad either. We will definitely be going there again.

Don't pass by this restaurant just because the outside is not all that pretty. The food and the service were excellent, highly recommend

I was in CA for a business trip and stayed at the Bahia. Mizu was a very short walk away. I saw others post to not let the look of the building deter you. They were right. I had the spicy crab roll and an Avocado roll - both were very good.

Myself and four friends were looking for a sushi lunch in Mission Beach earlier this week, and am I ever happy that Google Maps directed us to Mizu. The building doesn't look like much, other than somewhere you'd definitely pass by, but thankfully Google's rating and the A in the window from the health department easily convinced us to go in. The service was great. We sat down, they brought us menus and waters, took our order, and brought each of us a delicious bowl of miso soup, on the house. We ordered mixed tempura (all of which was great) and gyoza to start, followed by 5 rolls. The Philadelphia Roll was the best philly roll I've ever had. The Mango Salmon roll was unexpectedly delicious. The Rainbow Roll, which is my favourite, was a stunning plate and some of the freshest sushi I've had in a long time. My friends had some Spicy Tuna, which isn't my fav, so I held off to try the Special Crispy Spicy Tuna (or some variation of that title), which was a beautiful plate and pretty tasty. To top off the delicious meal, we were served slices of watermelon--again, on the house--for dessert. And then, the bill. Under $80. For five people. When I buy sushi at home, it's not nearly as beautiful, as delicious, as fresh, and costs significantly more than my Mizu experience. If you want sushi, I can't recommend this place enough!

I've eaten here at least a dozen times over the past decade, and am impressed with the consistent quality of their sushi and noodles. They're just across the street from Belmont Park, so it's a very good location for those hanging out at Mission Beach. Don't expect anything fancy, just good food and friendly service.

Sushi and sesame chicken were really good but the entire place needs to be cleaned badly. Staff was a little hard to understand but very, very sweet.

Very good sushi, pretty average taste though nothing special. Prices are decent and waitresses don't speak much English

This place is within an easy walking distance of our resort, The Bahia. The service was excellent and the food was nothing short of fabulous. The family raved about it after. Bottom line? Next time we are in town, we'll be back.

One of the dirtiest restaurants I’ve ever been to. The floors and tables were old and dirty and the place smelled like rotten fish. The food was average at best. And we all had upset stomachs afterwards. The woman delivering our food kept coughing every time she came up to the table. I honestly can’t think of a redeeming quality for this place and am really surprised at all of the positive reviews. So I felt compelled to rate it, to save others from the same mistake we made. There are 1000 great restaurants within 2miles of this place. Go to one of those.

Excellent sushi and rolls. Reasonably priced. I only wish we had discovered this place earlier during our visit to mission beach because we would have visited multiple times.

An enjoyable sushi experience. Nothing fancy and you can easily tell that this small restaurant is family owned and great pride is put into service and quality. As you watch the cook grab fresh fish from the tank in the restaurant you have a good idea that any raw or cook fish is fresh. One of our more memorable food experiences. Well worth a visit if you enjoy a variety of Asian cuisine.

We went there for lunch and it was just perfect! The prices were great and the food was too! Service was great! Good place to go. But I think this must be more of a dinner place. There was no one else there for lunch but we still got good service!

This was a great experience! While personally, I'm not a sushi fan (I had the sesame teriyaki chicken) my fiance and and best friend loved everything they had, calling it the best they had ever had. We started with the shrimp tempura and spring rolls, which were good. But my friend had Sashimi Tuna (Maguro), and the MIZU crunch roll which he described as amazing, especially the Sashimi roll. My fiance and son had a beef cabbage soup that they loved and they also shared the Mission Bay roll, The Spicy Tuna roll, Tuna Avocado roll, Salmon Special roll. All the rolls were fantastic and fresh that it was amazing that it was all imported from Japan. The Salmon Special roll was the favorite and stood out as the very best of the best. The table next to us was having a large party and were very friendly with the staff and us. When we were there they had buy one get one 50% off on their rolls as well. Awesome experience! I would recommend to everyone.

We always enjoy visiting when we are in San Diego. The owners and staff always greet us with big smiles and care very much that we are taken care of. The food is delicious and priced appropriately. Our last visit was for mother's day. Always a special treat!

I was seated near where the roof was leaking from rain… in an empty restaurant. 😳 The food was mediocre at best… not sure how this place was rated 4-stars.

I loved food at Mizu. Sushi was very fresh and the view of the bay was lovely. Very friendly service and very clean. I would definitely recommend anyone to visit Mizu.

My boys wanted to try this place. I was not so sure. Everything we ate was fantastic. Service was great. My son and I had sushi. We all had miso soup...delicious. My husband and sons used chop sticks, finally with the encouragement of the staff. The restaurant does not look like much but it was responsibly priced and the food was good.

Across the street from the roller coaster. This sushi place has something for everyone. Surprisingly low prices for what you get, considering you are in San Diego. Very friendly service and a wonderful place for people watching

The ladies at Mizu were fun and attentive. We love the service and the food. We will be back for sure on our next vacation.

We actually ate at Mizu twice because it was so good we went back for more! The sushi was fresh, inexpensive and delicious.

After spending a small fortune on sushi while at Mission Beach and reading the reviews for Mizu on TripAdvisor we decided to give it a try. It's true that the outside of the restaurant looks questionable, but the inside isn't much better either. Tables were set up nicely and the people who work there are very nice, but it went downhill from there. We ordered 7 different rolls. The only one we liked was the Dynamite roll. The others had a more than expected fishy taste and were questionably warm. Warm cream cheese in the Philadelphia roll and soft warm squishy avocado in another roll caused us to lose our appetite. I'm not sure if they were having an off day with the sushi, but it wasn't good. I wouldn't recommend this place. I left there wondering if I'd even eaten at the same place mentioned in the great reviews here on TripAdvisor. Reviews are usually spot on, but this was a huge miss!😞

I at their twice. the location was excellent since I was staying at the Bahia. the food was excellent, the service was hardworking and friendly. they accommodated my group of 7 who needed separate tabs. Excellent sushi, good fish, and very nice udon soup.

We went here based on Trip Advisor reviews. Sushi was great! Hot plates were great! Service was great! Looks like a small family owned and run Japanese restaurant. Well done. We were really happy with everything.

the food was very well presented and we all enjoyed our self's there, a must return to place.the owners wife was very warm, kind and she even feed me my first spoon full of ice cream desert.

I have been to this place several every time I come to Mission Beach over the past 4 years (at least 8 times) and it is conistently good. The woman who runs the place (possibly the owner) is very friendly and helpful. She makes sure everyone is taken care of and the food comes in a timely manner. The sushi is always fresh and tasty. I have not tried anything at this place that I don't like. Reasonable prices and great service located on Mission Bay (close to Belmont Park.)

Staff was excellent- super friendly, knowledgeable, and fun to be around. Atmosphere is very family-friendly.

We went on a recommendation of a local food is great the sushi 🍣 was fabulous and fresh Don’t expect the ritz just enjoy the food and beer wine and Saki happy days

The food is wonderful. The service is fantastic and reasonably priced. I look forward to eating here every year.

Your typical sushi joint. Great prices, the 50% off and 1/2 off brought rolls within reach. The two of us each had 4 rolls and we got out at less than $40.00. The place is old and dingy, though. Cleanish is the best description. I would go again, but beware, this is "hole in the Wall" sushi.

This is one of my favorite places to go get sushi whenever I come back to San Diego.

Our family of 5 just had dinner here. The dining rm has nice views of Mission Beach pathways and affords enjoyable people watching as you await your meal. We were all treated to complimentary Miso soup with Tofu. Our meals were delicious and piping hot. Kids had Sesame Chicken. I had Grilled Teriyaki Chicken. All were served atop fresh shredded cabbage, which was delicious in the sauce. They were also served with sliced oranges. Hubby enjoyed Spicy tuna sushi and Udon Noodle Soup. They have a small parking lot to the left of the entrance. Drive slowly as you approach b/c the restaurant is a bit tucked back and is easy to miss. We missed it the first time and had to pull many u-turns to get ourselves back.

My husband, 6 yr old daughter and I were first people there. Like the other reviewers said, dont let the outside fool you. Gosh, my Grandmas house was not the grandest, but thats the best food I ever had in my life. Our little waitress saw we were hot and set us under a cool fan. She did not speak the best English, but gosh she took care of us. They made my daughter a kids portion noodle (not on menu). We ordered 4 rolls (came with the best miso). We were stuffed. Wonderful service, kind people. Yum yum.

You can't miss the Sushi signage as you make your way toward the beach... and yes this little shop delivers an experience which is hard to find. Family owned and operated restaurant a block from the beach serving dishes with care and near 2 decades of expertise. We're here on vacation and wanted to keep dinner simple with a to go order. I was greeted by the owners daughter with a big smile and friendly hello. Ordering was easy, they have a mixed menu of sushi Korean, soups/udon and apps. Food came out quick and was delicious. This place is not your typical strip mall joint. They care about the food they put out and the guest who come in. Stop by and experience greatness for yourself.

the price was right, good sushi and the place is clean, with friendly staff. the place is also a walking distance to the beach and to the resort. it s accessible to all the shops and if you like thrills, there is a park where you can take the kids for a roller coaster ride just right almost on the beach.

Sushi was OK, scenery was great though. Service was OK , Drinks were OK. COuld have had more of a selection, but still good.

Excellent food and fantastic service. The place is very casual and in a great place near mission beach. I come back every time I come to San Diego.

The owener is a old rude hag. She starts clowning the people paying her bills if you're that miserable in life don't take it out on youre income

This is a great place and family favorite for Mission Bay/Beach. It is great for a large group and the food is really delicious. The sushi is particularly good, but all the offerings are tasty. The service staff is energetic and fun. Mizu is a must eat place every time we come down!

This is a Japanese restaurant at 850 W Missiion Bay Dr. It is right before you get into Mission Beach.I had a Chicken Breast Teryaki Bento box. It cost $15.95. There was so much food, I had to save my California rolls for later. Youo get miso soup, salad, rice daily appetizer and the chicken teryaki. My appetizer was a small eggroll and mixed tempura. The food was very good. I would go back again.

Delicious sushi and sashimi, prompt and gracious service, bright large room with lots of windows. There's a "buy one; get 50% off the second" deal posted outside the restaurant

Good selection. Food was fine. Staff was prompt and attentive. Everything tasted okay although the tempura wasn't as crisp as I was expecting. Only problem- there was something that sort of resembled a staple in the chicken... But I'm visiting the area and it was my colleagues dish - nothing was said to management - might be a random event.

Really enjoyed this restaurant after first thinking it was a total dive from its outward appearance. The staff was great, although maybe too type A pushy. We went here twice in 1 week on vacation. I eat sushi 1-2x per week normally and will eat here again.

Found review on Trip Advisor and decided to try this place. We were not disappointed. The food was very good, especially the sushi rolls!! The children liked the fried noodles with chicken, a winner. Friendly staff. Go to Mizu!

Since we stay at the Bahia, we were fortunate enough to find a Japanese restaurant (one of our favorite foods) within walking distance of the hotel. For years we have gone to dinner there as part of our "San Diego Ritual" and we always look forward to returning. The food is great, the atmosphere is casual, and you are treated like part of the family as soon as you walk in. I have brought many people to dine with us at Mizu, and everyone is impressed by the outstanding sushi, the excellent Sake, and especially by the service. This is one of my families favorite places to eat, so we hope you enjoy it too!

This place exemplified all the attributes of cost savings. The Tuna was minced and out of a bucket, not fresh. Inexperienced sushi eaters know are not aware minced Tuna is not fresh. Also, the chicken is full of breading interior as opposed to meat. This place is a joke

great food and close to hotel. You get alot of food for the money. Staff was friendly.

Called here after going for a walk along the beach and we needed some food. It was just so good. Plenty of very tasty food. We didn't try the sushi but the meals we had were very good and well priced. The staff were just so helpful and friendly, it was a good idea to have dinner here. Would come again.

When you walk in you can tell this place is family owned by how hard everyone is working and how friendly they are. Food quality: very good. They focus on taste rather than presentation Try the special salmon mango roll!! Atmosphere: retro Japanese funky. Loves it very casual Service: excellent and friendly I would highly recommend this place

We have been passing Mizu for years by car, bike and on foot and always been curious. It surely isn't much to look at from the outside. We always end up at the fancy boutique places that dot the landscape. After trying one of the new places (Cannonballs) and being thoroughly disappointed the night before, we went to Mizu...FINALLY! Don't be put off by the older lady waiting the tables! She was abrupt and like an old Chinese waiter, but she turned out to be a doll and sweet and reminded me of one of my old aunties in Hawaii. We loved her. "YES we have KIM CHEE. ALL YOU WANT. NO CHARGE!" Made us laugh. We ordered, the kalbi (barbecue beef ribs), yellowtail collar (tender and huge), a tiger roll (giant) and yes...rice and kim chee (really good like homemade stuff). We were stuffed. The portions were huge and much cheaper. In fact, for what we paid just for appetizers at the fancy place the night before, we got a whole dinner and so much extra we're eating the leftover seaweed salad and kimchee, rice and sushi this morning for breakfast! Mizu should be packed! It looks like a little mom and pop place and that's what it's like. Try it out! We'll be back soon and sorry we took so long to visit!

I gave it three stars considering it is inexpensive and within walking distance from the beach. Can't expect much from beach restaurants. So, this place could even be considered a pleasant surprise. I drove by this restaurant several times going away from the beach but never considered stopping there for dinner. The outside just looks bad. Tonight the wife and I didn't feel like driving far and spending a fortune for dinner so we gave the place a try. The inside looks much better. The Hispanic waitress was friendly, but the Asian lady seemed angry and hot and bothered. She did say bye when we were leaving though. The sushi rolls are inexpensive. On top of that, the second order of rolls of similar price is half off. Be very gentle though, the rolls fall apart at the sight of your chop sticks. We had two orders of rolls, a sea weed salad, one beer. $25 plus tips. What do you want? Just might come back before leaving San Diego.

I really enjoyed the sushi and the service here. I especially liked the Mission Bay roll!! The staff here is very friendly as well.

We ate here more than once on a two day vacay! Excellent. Authentic from the moment you walk in the door

Excellent food, very authentic and friendly staff. We had the pork cutlet with miso soup, salad and rice. Added an appetizer of Gyoza. All the food was first class.

The price of the sushi compared to the taste of it was amazing, especially compared to how cheap the sushi is. Friendly staff who are very eager to help, made this a wonderful eating experience for me and my girlfriend.

Ok - it wasn't the best sushi I ever ate by any measure - but it was good. The restaurant itself is dated, with a very old TV showing sports (no sound) and a big fan cooling the place. The window had Christmas lights and some cracks - and everything from the flooring to the chairs to the plastic covered tables just looks like it's at least 15 years old. All that said - AI must say that The staff was just amazing. Every one of them was incredibly warm and friendly - I would come back again for that alone (and I'm pretty picky). We were greeted by an elderly woman that barely sole English (old world Japanese I think) - she's was amazing, friendly and what a smile. I will come back again - for the staff and the character of this lovely little place.

Staying at the Bahia resort and passed this a few times but it didn't look too appealing. Then my trip advisor app pointed it out and after checking reviews we gave it a try. Staff were super helpful, food was really delish! Best we've eaten locally by far! Tempura shrimp, chicken cutlet, salmon, sushi, all very tasty. Great value at $70 for 4 of us and we ordered a lot!

I had the sushi. I ordered a roll with mango in it and it must have been right off the tree as it was so sweet and fresh. The kimchi was the best I tasted in years. The prices were reasonable. Tasty food for a great price.

Myself and my family visit San Diego on a regular basis. Personally I make sure that the hotel that I am staying at is super close to Mizu on Mission Bay Dr. The service is amazing every single time we have gone there. The food has been incredible!! the quality of the service and the food has been consistent every single time we have gone there. We will continue to eat at this restaurant happily!!! Even planning our vacations so that we can eat at Mizu!!

We only stopped here because it was highly praised in TripAdvisor. We were not disappointed. Despite being quite a run-down building the food and service were excellent. We really enjoyed our meals here.

Our family's three generations of sushi lovers have enjoyed sushi over many years in New York City, Boston, Massachusetts, and Maine. But on two visits to Mizu we all experienced the best sushi we had ever enjoyed. Don't be fooled by Mizu's modest exterior. It is THE Sushi Place!

I usually do not like places that sell more than one asian speciality (e.g. sushi, chinese, korean, etc.). However, I was happy surprised that this joint had really good sushi (I even saw a korean family eating there and that it always a great sign!). Service was slow, but worth it.

We went to this restaurant in August 2016 as it was close to the hotel we were staying at. It's a good-sized restaurant with 2 dining areas. It's a casual restaurant but the service is excellent. Lots of variety on the menu, except if you're vegetarian - then there are only a few options. The portions were quite large and the prices very reasonable. The food was great. Overall very pleased with our experience. Would visit again.

We went to this Japanese restaurant and had take away. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We ordered way too much food as the meals were huge. We had the Bento boxes which included Miso soup and rice as well as a ton of food. Apart from ordering too much it was very good value and fresh.

Went there on Jan 1st. The service was very short staffed and our server was very flustered. She actually shoved a plate into my friend’s hand and then ran off! But the sushi is impeccable. Super fresh, reasonably priced and very good. You know you are in the right sushi spot when it’s filled with local Japanese families!
Surprisingly good
Ordered salmon and yellowtail sashimi, fried gyoza and spicy tuna roll. Fish was fresh and good was food. Even had an order of spicy kimchi soup that was put of menu. Obliging lady boss with nice service. Worth the walk!
