I popped in for lunch and had the Salmon Caesar salad. The salmon was delicious but compared to the photo display, the portion size of the salmon was small and the salad was too much for me. Reasonably priced food and you collect your food from the bar. Fairly quick delivery of the food to the bar.

Good selection of healthy food at normal prices. The staff is helpful and friendly. The drinks selection could be expanded.

Modern Market's food philosophy says they offer "lots of options no matter your mood, dietary requirements, or budget" but I found that a gluten free, dairy free meal was hard to get and over priced for what I received. Despite discussing with the cashier at length about ingredients of various dishes, and informing her that I needed a dish without dairy or gluten, I still received my meal with a slice of bread (on top of my soup spoon, so I had to get another to avoid cross-contamination) and cow's milk cheese on a salad listed as "vegan" on the menu. The salmon and veggies were free of my allergies and served fresh and flavorful. Portions were extremely small for the price tag. The location is new and the seating--indoor and outdoor--was comfortable and clean. The bathrooms were especially clean and updated with modern sinks. Overall I was very disappointed that I couldn't get an allergy free meal here, though their menu is well-labeled for allergies and diets. I may try one of Modern Market's other, more established locations to see whether my experience here was a fluke.

I am willing to change my review if others tell me that cauliflower crust on pizza is always soggy. I had never had it before, but I certainly had expectations that it would be somewhat similar to a regular pizza, which is what the employee also said. They didn't have any "regular" crust and he offered this option. I ordered FOUR pizzas with cauliflower crust and they were truly awful. Most of us couldn't stomach them. They were completely soggy and floppy and nothing like I would expect of a pizza. What a huge waste of money, PLUS, we only eat out in Austin a few times a year because we no longer live in the city, and so it felt like a huge let down to have made such a terrible choice when there were so many other places we could have gone to. (All this being said, my husband at a BLT and enjoyed it, and one of my daughter's had a grilled cheese and enjoyed it. Another one of my daughter's had a grilled cheese as well and the cheese wasn't even melted, so that was kind of ridiculous...)

Decent food at a decent price (Finding a decent price In Austin is a challenge). The staff was friendly. Had the Margarita pizza. More sauce then I have had In the past but still good. Would go back.

I got the Buddha bowl and let me tell you it was worth every bit and more! It was soo good I felt like I was cheating lol! It was carrots and broccoli and cabbage. I mean I want to eat there everyday. But unfortunately not in my budget. It’s one of my favorite healthy places. Enjoy.

Food was good and the ingredients seemed fresh. The employee that waited on us was pleasant and we didn’t wait long for our food. I would recommend that they start clearing and cleaning tables more frequent. The restaurant wasn’t packed, but we had a hard time finding a clean table.

MODERN MARKET on Congress in downtown Austin: Just what we needed -- healthy, quick, well priced. We arrived late in the day in Austin for a long weekend. We were walking into downtown via Congress and spotted Modern Market. It's the kind of place where you order at the counter and take a seat ('Fast Casual'). I had the curry salmon bowl, which the server said was one of their most popular. It fit the bill for our needs. They also offer soup, pizza, salads and toasted sandwiches. We ate on the patio, watching the world go by. Hubby kept raving about the place. Please bring Modern Market to California! If you found this review useful, please click the 'Thank' button.

What a cool chain! We were seeking something healthy and lighter after a gut busting night of BBQ the prior evening. This hit the spot for a Sunday lunch. Tasty array of options. The pork lemongrass bowl was perfect. Kids even enjoyed theirs....including the blueberry pesto sandwich.

Wandering Austin on a hot Summer day and stumbled into this place for lunch. Fresh and made on site the offerings here are not what you’d find at a typical chain. Fresh made lemonade was just the ticket to head back out into the heat.

This place looks like it has some good "healthy" options for a light lunch and lots of items on this menu look great. I had the Curry Salmon bowl and was hoping to be at least warmed.. but the veggies were cold and more surprisingly the salmon was as well.. also the salmon was very dry and crusty. The curry sauce was mild and quite good. I think this dish would taste so much more if the salmon was fresh and veggies were warmed. Service was very friendly but it took a while to get the meal.

We had a fast lunch here on our way to San Antonio. Nice healthy food. You order at the counter and collect your food. Everything was fine. Minimal decor and hard seats.

Walked in a lark. I was hungry and this prospect seemed the best among nearby options. Had no reason to regret it. The house-made lemonade is good. The bahn mi sandwich is exceptional. Meat prepared to perfection complemented with an appropriate amount of greens and vegetables, with a seasoning that amplifies all the various tastes, served on a bread that couldn’t be baked any better. I have nothing to say about other menu offerings but, if the opportunity arises, I’ll be back to try one of the chicken dishes (recommended by the server).

Decided to walk around a few blocks looking for something interesting to eat. This place is different. Look up their menu online. Lots of healthy dishes, and very tasty. Kind of fast food model, yet not fast food.

'stopped for lunch so it was busy but the staff are all helpful, friendly (and patient!). There's seating inside, outside and upstairs. The menu is all Farm-to-Market/local and includes many vegetarian options. All the food seemed very fresh; the menu items are highly customizable and is delivered quickly in a fast casual style. Moderately priced and good value for the ingredients/menu variety. Parking (as always in downtown Austin) is tough.

I am traveling solo during my days in Austin and I was looking for a tasty but nothing fried or BBQ’d place to have lunch. I had the Blueberry Pesto Sammie and it was delicious! I would definitely come back here if I were ever visiting Austin again.

Great menu. Nice packaging for Uber delivery. Food was just okay. Three bowls/salads nicely presented. The proteins were overcooked, both salmon and chicken … so dry. I enjoyed the greens and veggies in my bowl. But, my wife thought her veggies were tasteless. Sister-in-law disappointed with the salmon. Good size portions. Price was reasonable. But, overall, we thought we’d try someplace different next time.

Stopped here for a salad to-go. Had a delicious caesar salad with grilled salmon. The service was prompt and friendly The menu offered an array of healthy options at reasonable prices.

I had the mushroom muffuletta. It was amazing. The only reason I didn’t give five stars is the chips served as a side were stale. I realize we’re are in the midst of a pandemic and things are tight but quality should be checked each day.

Heart of Congress Avenue in Frost building, stopped for healthy food after gym. Tasty avocado toast and Colorado burrito. Clean and very modern . Staff friendly. Upstairs quiet. Reasonable price.

In Austin during the severe weather. Went to this spot Tuesday morning. Git there about 1000hr. When I got there. One of the entranceS that says enter was locked. Someone opened the door for me ( a customer ) there was app. 15-20 ppl in there. It was 1 of the very few restaurants open. I was staying at the JW marriot but wanted something different then what was in the hotel restaurant. There wasn't anybody at the register. Tried to talk to several staff that were preparing food. After being ignored by by 2 finally 1 said I had to order online. Wasn't given any barcode or Menu to scan by staff. A customer had to tell me to search on Google for the restaurant and make sure it's the right 1 because there are several. Finally placed order at 1012hr as per email food should be ready by 1023. Maybe 45 min later a person comes in that the staff says is the manager and can start taking in store orders. Spoke to the so called manager and was told that they are disregarding online orders and to wait in line to reorder. While waiting in line; I was told they are going to honor the online orders and to form a separate line (which had formed already and I would be at the back of the line again). Pseudo manager says to sign a paper Witham and time order was placed. After an hr of being there still order wasn't ready. All the ppl that were in the restaurant before me was gone and some had sat down and ate and left. By this time ppl that came after me were getting there food. So I went to the Pseudo manager and he told me the manager was there now and to speak to her. I told her about my situation and that ppl that came after me was getting there food before me. She toldme they probably ordered online before me. After another 15 min went to see if my order was on the ready rack. It wasn't. Then I noticed that all the orders that were there had to be ready by times far later than my 1023hr to be ready time. Went to complain to the manager and she told me don't do that. I'm like wwwhaaatt??? Then she asked if I wanted my money back. I said yes. She went to the register; asked for name. Typed something in. Looked at the screen and said it's done. It's 2 days later and there still isn't a cancelation email or a reverse charge on credit card. The manager was a black heavy set middle aged lady. If anybody from PR of the restaurant reads this look back at the cameras from 1000hr til 1130hr and se if I'm telling the truth. Please fire that useless manager. Or maybe she might be capable of cleaning up or taking out the trash. Anything that takes managerial skill or customer service is way above her deserved pay grade.

I was in the mood for a light, heathy meal (after all the BBQ from the night before) and found it here - a nice tomato soup and a tuna poke bowl, with some iced tea, just perfect. I ate upstairs and had the whole section to myself, which was nice as well.

This restaurant is a gem! I was so grateful to find it during sxsw festival. The food is fresh and healthy. Price is ok and portions are good too!! if you want to go away from tacos, go there!

Stopped in for breakfast with friends. Cute little restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. It was a yummy and healthy way to start our day! It can be as quick or as long of an experience as you want, as you order at the bar and wait to pick up your meal. Great location if you are staying downtown. Breakfast, lunch, dinner menu - healthy and light options. Very reasonably priced!

I didn't want much to eat so ordered the kids portion of mac n cheese. It arrived barely warm. I asked for it to be heated up as I don't like cold food. They said they have no way of heating up food. Got a refund and went elsewhere.

I needed something to eat quickly and this fit the bill. Food was hot and tasty. The service was excellent and there was plenty of room to eat in or take-out.

Wow what different lunch options, I had a BLT A with the A standing for avocado. It was great. One of our party had a berry pesto sandwich and the other a BANH. We ate outside

I enjoyed my visit to Modern Market for lunch with a friend. The chicken and basil sandwich was great. I ordered a side of potato chips. While it was busy, we were able to get a seat upstairs without a problem. The seating was nice. My biggest problem with the restaurant is that it was too loud. The restaurant echo requires you to almost shout to your friends, so conversations are difficult.

We had been eyeing this for awhile. Finally made it for lunch with office colleagues. it is an easy walk for folks working in downtown Austin. I found this place to be refreshing in terms of usual office lunches. One goes up to the counter to order the food. They give you a number that you can take to your table. There is plenty of sitting - upstairs, on the main floor and outside (sort of semi patio). The portions are perfect for one person, not over-sized. Everything seems health conscious. I tried the Curry Salmon Bowl. The salmon was well cooked. The curry was subtle so as to not overpower other flavors on the plate. My colleagues tried the Buddha Bowl, Modern Mushroom Pizza, and Basil Chicken sandwich. Everything was great. It is on the pricey side. But considering the service & the food, it is worth every penny. They seem to have a great breakfast menu with avocado toast & waffles being offered through out the day. Now only if I worked in Frost Tower, I would be a regular at this place. I know that I'm going to back there. I suggest you give it a try too next time you are wandering around Austin downtown!
Healthy meal option
I was looking for some healthy food options in and amongst the BBQ, pizza and burgers in Austin (!) and came across Modern Market. They have a number of protein bowl and salad options to choose from or you can make up your own. I had the herb chicken with green salad and sweet potato on rice and quinoa. It was a good portion and well prepared. Only issue is that it was a bit dry but had some good flavour.
