The best birthday celebration!

By from_leopolis |

I now have the opportunity to write a grateful review for this awesome restaurant. It’s not the first time I’ve visited here, but the first time that I celebrated a birthday with 6 other people. The occasion was my 25th birthday, and I didn’t hesitate to choose one of my favorite places in Chicago. I’m especially appreciative of how accomodating was the staff in regards to the baby that was with us (my 4 month old nephew). Just one suggestion: maybe the restaurant would consider to have a sling for a car seat, because, even though we were fine with having our baby in the stroller, perhaps a sling of some sort would be practical for small babies that do not sit yet. Other than that, he was a champ, and so were all the staff who probably noticed us slipping out into the lounge one by one to entertain our littlest family member :) Now, for the food. Everyone at our table loved everything they ordered; and we had escargot, New York strip steaks and filet mignon, scallops, and baked goat cheese with tomato sauce. My own filet mignon was absolutely flawless. I had it medium well, and I had the version with the red wine sauce. To leave some room for dessert, I chose to pack the rest of it to go, and even the next day, I’ve had it reheated for lunch, and it was just as yummy as it had been the day of our outing. Of course, for my appetizer I have had the escargot, my favorite - and it was delicious as usual. Maybe consider serving a dozen, apart from six? It was just so good ;) I realized I was so excited that I didn’t even take a single photo of my food (I do have such a common dining out habit), but that’s okay, because I savored all of it while it lasted, and now have great memories of it. The ambiance was bustling even as it was Sunday night, but we had a wonderful time. And needless to say, I’ll come back here in the future!

Gluten-Free food, but service was sad

By terrijane |

We returned here after a wonderful stop last year. They have great gluten-free options. However, this time, we were seated awkwardly, ignored by our server, and in general, made to feel like we didn't belong or were not wanted. The food was not good enough to compensate for the service this go round. I still recommend the French Onion Soup.

The Best Chicago French restaurant.

By Bill T |

Why 5 Stars? Easy - this was an amazing experience from the moment we approached the building. The restaurant is in an historical certified building with gorgeous chandeliers and beautiful details in the entrance lobby. The restaurant was bustling with patrons, but we were quickly seated. Our server Jeremy D was quite accommodating throughout the meal. We began with Grey Whale gin martinis, escargots de Bourgogne and a warmed baguette. This was followed by a delightful little gem salad, an absolutely delicious beef Bourgogne for me and a perfectly prepared skate wing for my wife. These were accompanied by glasses of a reasonably priced Sauvignon blanc. To end the meal - since this is a wonderful French restaurant - Classic Profiteroles and a double espresso! To say we absolutely LOVED the meal is an understatement! It was the best French restaurant meal we’ve had in Chicago - ever! So yes we will be back and soon. As to my readers - Go, Go, Go there. You’ll love it!

Disappointing

By Karyn M |

Made a reservation way in advance and they tried to pawn off the worst table in the restaurant when we arrived (as we were 2 women). We waited an additional 30 minutes for another table in the back room. Very little ambience. I’m always put off when there is a charge for bread, especially at a steak house. We had steak tartare to start, which was good. Cocktails were mediocre and truly a measured pour. The chicken dish was very good, filet quality was fair, sides of French fries were done well but the creamed spinach was teeny with little flavor. Truly a disappointment, especially compared to their Vegas location. There are much better steakhouse choices in Chicago.

A Slice of Paris in Chicaog

By Bill R |

Had dinner with friends in this French restaurant located in the Lincoln Park area. The French wine selection was good. But the best parts were the steak frites and the desser.

Great brunch spot!

By jkarenwms55 |

Traveled to Chicago for my friends birthday. Went to Mon Ami Gabi for brunch and they didn't disappoint. Thoroughly enjoyed the brunch items and we had a wonderful bottle of Rose wine! What a way to spend a lovely Saturday afternoon.

Unacceptable

By Donald C |

Had a 6 p.m. reservation. They were already out of their featured entree (dover sole) and creme brulee dessert. Unacceptable.

Delicious Brunch in Chicago!!

By Hunter S |

Tripsters- Our friends visited us last weekend from OKC and I wanted to take them somewhere elegant and fun for brunch. I had been to Mon Ami Gabi once before and liked it so I made us a reservation. What can I say? The restaurant did not disappoint. Like at all. What we loved: Beef Bourguignon Benedict (pictured), Quiche (pictured), Onion Soup, Bloody Mary, the fresh baguettes and the exemplary service What was okay: Steak and Frites (to clarify the flavor was phenomenal but the cut had a vein of fat in it that made the steak hard to cut) Verdict: We will definitely be back.

Spectacular!

Beautiful restaurant! Great food and service! Try to sit in the outdoor patio! Steak tartare and escargots were delicious! Highly recommended!

An old favorite

By MomOfBoysOhMy |

I fell in love at Mon Ami Gabi... literally. When I first started dating my husband, we would walk around the corner from my condo and come here for lovely romantic dinners together. Fast forward more than a decade. We finally made it back with my boys, who are now 7 and 9. It was a Sunday night and boy this place was still just as full and popular as it ever was -- a testament to just how much people love this place. We made reservations on Open Table... it's quick, easy and you really should have a reservation or you're going to be waiting a long time! A personal and long-standing favorite at Mon Ami Gabi is the merlot butter filet with pom frites. This is the kind of dinner that you actually have dreams about... trust me. When you go, you'll see lots of couples (old and young) as well as groups of friends dining together. You'll also see families... but they take the earlier seating generally. And families that do come here generally make an effort to keep the kids in the seats. Try Mon Ami Gabi and you will find a local favorite that has stood the test of time... not an easy feat in Chicago!

dinner in a noisy construction zone

By Momkat |

Hard to taste the food and hear conversation while in the middle of a construction zone of the Belden Stratford.

Fabulous!

By Tanya C |

Excellent service and amazing ambiance. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, gave great advice about specials and choices on the menu. We sampled quite a few items: Chicken pâté (very smooth with fig chutney, it was beautiful). French onion soup - special (very large serving). Fillet mignon merlot (steak was perfectly cooked, although I think sauce on the side would have been better. Wine and dessert were also lovely. Had an amazing time, would go back.

Amazing food

By Rita J |

We completely enjoyed our dinner at Mon Ami Gabi. The wine was terrific and coupled with an appetizer of baked goat cheese and country liver pate was a delightful start to our meal. We each had something different--salmon, scallops, and blue cheese streak Fries. Everything was perfectly cooked. I would not miss coming here if you are in Chicago and want a lovely, French meal. The bread is outstanding. We loved our dinner.

Sunday evening get together

By Carole117981 |

Wonderful setting to relax with friends whom we haven’t seen in an age. The wait staff was so patient as we were so busy catching up that we kept forgetting to look at theme u. We shared the chicken liver pate. It came with a sauce—maybe plum(.?) along with delicious olives. We all ordered the skate which included a generous serving of asparagus. Everything was superb and I would order it when I return. We had a very nice white wine (Cote du Rhône): the ladies also ordered and shared a crepe brûlée. Very light texture with a wonderful burnt sugar topping. Great place to dine

We love the Lincolnwood restaurant because it always delivers excellent service and great food. The last visit was especially excellent thanks to our terrific waitress, Amy Marinov.

Authentic bistro!

By thinbuckle |

Gabi is a charming bistro in a beautiful setting. I've spent a lot of time in Paris over the years and it's always nice to find a place that transports you there to some degree, which Gabi does fulfill. Looking forward to coming back!

Great Location, Excellent Dining Experience.

By Philip D |

This is a "go to" restaurant for my husband and myself when we want to entertain local as well as out of town friends. The service is uniformly excellent, and the food is first rate. I have tried a variety of appetizers and entrees, and have never been disappointed.

Fine dining,Great food!

By Alex C |

In our opinion this is a one of a kind restaurant for Brunch or dinner, the menu is vast with many choices to choose from, steaks, fish, salads, desserts are all wonderful! My wife just enjoyed the special of Rack of Lamb and I enjoyed the Steak Au Proive truly delicious! The wine selection is wonderful and so are the cocktails. The service is great and very helpful with helping you chose your meal. This resturant is great for special occasions or just a very nice evening out, or date night.Truly a Gem! Now make sure that you make reservations!!!

The Best of Everything!

By Beth H |

Our daughter's rehearsal dinner was held here and I can't speak highly enough of the service, the food, the drink, the atmosphere. During our cocktail hour the electricity went out due to high winds in the area. The staff at Mon Ami Gabi didn't miss a beat with providing more candles for light and continuing our cocktail hour. When it was evident that the electricity would not be restored in a reasonable amount of time, the manager arranged for us to finish our meal at one of their sister restaurants. It was like a progressive dinner! The amount of professionalism and customer service was impeccable. Thank you for all you did to make sure this rehearsal dinner was a huge success and one to be remembered. We will return on our next trip to Chicago and we will recommend highly to all of our friends,

Not worth the pomp and attitude

By Peggy M |

We are two older women who eat out constantly but hadn’t been to this neighborhood legend for at least 5 years. It was a lovely autumn night and we had no reservation. But the hostess worked hard to find us a table which was difficult even on a Monday night. The food was decent but our waiter basically could’ve cared less about us. We were invisible to him. Nothing major, just other tables being served first and getting his attention which we had to call for for service, the bill, etc. to him, we were truly invisible and won’t be back. So many other good city choices that value women dining together.

Local Hangout

By tony c |

We were introduced to MAG by some local friends who lived in the neighborhood and we were intrigued because of the chance to sample French cuisine and also because it was not on the usual tourist radar. The restaurant is located in an old classic hotel and it feels old worldish rather than hipster as you enter, a nice thing. Once you get inside though, there is very little that has any French ambiance, it rather feels like a neighborhood club. To my knowledge, none of the staff spoke French, but that's just an observation, c'est dommage. There are a number of classic items on the menu, Frite et frites, onion soup and duck a l'orange. Our group sampled the chicken liver pate, very good, the skate, trout almondine and the afore-mentioned duck. Overall, food was fine as was the service. It's an off the beaten path eatery and worth a visit, but I would say the experience overall was unremarkable.

GF/Celiac Excellence!

By terrijane |

When searching for gluten free restaurants in Chicago, I saw their menu and the first thing was "Onion Soup au gratin" and I was sold. Sign me up! French onion soup is one my faves. We arrived and I ordered the soup. My hubs had pate. Our waitstaff, Julian, kept our wine and water glasses full. This was followed by amazing duck l'orange for me and steak classique for hubs. The duck was so good (and so plentiful) that I was in food heaven. My hubs, a picky picky steak eater, thought the steak was cooked very well and he enjoyed it. Dessert was a cheesecake with a walnutty crust. I was glad to spend the calories. The only draw back of the evening was a bit over-long wait for the dinner after our appetizers were done. The restaurant was busy, full of couples and families, and a bustling/energetic waitstaff. Definitely worth it.

The Original- Mon Ami Gabi

By dpear79490 |

The restaurant sits on a corner in a very nice part of Chicago. The staff welcomes you when you arrive, we had reservations but the offered us outdoor seating because we were early. Outdoor seating is first come first serve. My guest were late due to weather and traffic. Our waitress made us feel comfortable even thought the delay was up to 1 hour. The appetizers (escargot and shrimp) were perfect. The main course (steak) was done exactly how we ordered them. Recommend this location if you have eaten at any of their other locations or just looking for a new experience eat here and you won’t be disappointed.

Divine Dinner

By Barbara NYC |

I enjoyed dinner with three friends at this inviting restaurant with a warm brasserie feel. First we shared a medley of two dozen oysters. My main was a beautiful poached cod with fingerling potatoes and crisp green beans. We concluded our meal with a perfect tarte tatin.

Great Local Bistro

By Dondos60091 |

We live in the northern suburbs of Chicago and, though it is a bit of a hike from home, (L from home and a 20-minute walk then Uber home) this has become one of our go to places in Chicago. Reservations are always a good idea (eating here during the week affords better walk-in opportunities but we always Open Table). The food options concentrate on steak frites and other French “bistro” food with some daily specials including duck ala orange and skate. The wine list is impressive and the cocktails imaginative. If you are looking for a cheap night out I would look elsewhere but Mon Ami gives good service and fare for the cost (we just dropped $250 for a party of three with cocktails and wine).

Live close by never been, but will be back!

By jazzyart |

Not sure why I haven't made it here before. Went with 2 girlfriends during the week. It was packed! They were behind with reservations so we popped over to Intro for a cocktail. Then they even came to update us about the table, sent our friend to join us and came to get us. How's that for service to start with. Our server was very attentive. He didn't hang around too long but whatever we asked for arrived very swiftly. The food, wine and cocktails were all really good. Scallops, Steak Frites and creme brûlée delicious. I will be back!

Great Breakfast

By Ellen B |

Just had a great brunch @ Mon Ami Gabi. Eggs prepared perfectly, warm baguette, delicious coffee, it doesn't get much better than this. They willingly substituted fruit for bacon (love bacon, hit the sodium a little too much yesterday, so needed fruit)! You will need a reservation, it is very popular.

Exceptional dinner and service

By Q2125DZjosephm |

Mon Ami Gabe was recommended by a Chicago friend who was leading the professional conference that I was attending from North Carolina. We were completely delighted with the ambiance, service and cuisine at Mon Ami Gabe. Our server was welcoming and attentive throughout. My spouse complimented the Cosmo, as I did my glass of Sancerre. Our entrees, the mussels mariniere and seared salmon, were perfect. We left well satisfied and vowing to return on our next visit to Chicago. We highly recommend Mon Ami Gabe.

Great French Bistro

By N G |

It was our first time dining at this French Bistro in Chicago, and a very enjoyable one. Excellent selection of wines, and the bartender makes the perfect Vesper and martinis. Food and service are excellent as well; no parking in the neighborhood, but there is valet parking.

A mighty fine bistro indeed

By NeedSher |

A return visit after being away, same warm comfortable atmosphere, one could almost imagine Paris other than the lack of French speakers. Chicken was outstanding, trout rated flavorful, steaks, quite a few to select from, were delicious. We shared some ice cream with fudge sauce...delightful ending.

Always Great

By Raphael L |

I arrived early waiting for my kids to join me for dinner. Jordan is an excellent bar tender who knows his craft and how to keep customers and have them coming back. We had great service from Don our waiter and Phillipe as a bus. We enjoyed Pom frittes to start followed by mussels, skate and my favorite (trout). This is probably one of the best in the Lettuce chain that always serves great food consistently, with a professional and accommodating staff, and never varies. Five stars, kudos to them, and now I cannot wait to go back again. BRAVO!

Don’t order from them the food sucks and you’ll spend 100 bucks for nothing

By Bee C |

The absolute worst steak Frites cold food the duck confit was horrible and the French onion soup was a joke and I spent $100 +15% tip I will never order from them again what a disgusting meal

Fabulous French Food Experience

By Bonnie T |

We enjoyed a lovely dinner on the patio at Mon Ami Gabi with wine, soup (gazpacho and French onion are both great), dinner (steak frites, salmon and scallops were all fabulous), and dessert (a combination of the profiteroles and bananas foster crepes were insanely delicious). Service was excellent, we didn't feel rushed at all, and we had a meal and evening to remember. This is one of Lettuce Entertain You's more expensive restaurants, so we save it as a time-to-time special treat.

We hads a lovely dinner at Mon Ami Gabi in Chicago

By Anthony S |

We had a lovely dinner at Mon Ami Gabi. The menu was extensive and the prices were moderate. The drinks were excellent and good value. The décor is pleasant and it has a beautiful outdoor eating area. It gets an attractive clientele. It is moderately high energy. The wait staff were charming and professional. The location is excellent on Lincoln Park West

Beautiful setting lackluster food

Loved the atmosphere and everything about the restaurant but the food was just not good. We tried Sunday brunch. My advice is to pass Our waitress was MIA.

Great time until it wasn't...

By ashley m |

Food is fine BUT DO NOT VALET YOUR CAR HERE! We parked our car for dinner and zoo lights and told the valet we would be walking over to the lights. They said it would be $25 instead of $14 which we agreed to. The next morning we noticed damage (two different quotes over $1000) to the front driver's side bumper that was 100% not there before we valeted. We called the restaurant and the building and no one will return our calls to give us the valet info for our insurance. All we wanted to know was where our car was parked. Wish I took my own chances and parked it on the street myself for free!

Great atmosphere and Wine

By Michelle G |

Pricey, expensive menu, Split dinner, Wines are expensive. No parking, Valet is best. Located across from Lincoln Park Zoo, in a historic beautiful old hotel, Crowed. Locals, Judges/Lawyers/physicans and Nurses, highly educated crowd. Love it. Has outdoor seating in summer

Hidden Gem...

By Donna H |

Not a typical visitor place as it is located in a residential building. Went with a friend who lives in Chicago. The food was terrific and the waiter was exceptional. The food was well prepared (loved the bread!) and hot! Would enjoy returning.

Great Place!

By Tom A |

Visited Chicago for holiday light tours and shopping, had dinner at this establishment. Onion soup was likely best ever tasted, steaks served with Bernaise and Roquefort sauces were amazing, very tender and flavorful and cooked to perfection as ordered. Also served with excellent French fries. The I'm We will definitely return to this establishment on next trip to Chicago.

"Classic French Bistro"

By Taylor B |

For as long as my wife and I have been living in Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood, there have been two restaurants in the elegant Belden-Stratford building at 2300 North Lincoln Park West. But only one of them has survived while the others closed. Opened in 1998, Mon Ami Gabi is a "Classic French Bistro" that serves traditional French cuisine, including French baguettes, French onion soup au gratin, steak frites, chicken grand-mere, chocolate mousse and profiteroles. Any restaurant that serves profiteroles is my kind of restaurant. Mon Ami Gabi is a chain of five bistros...Chicago, Oak Brook, Illinois, Reston, Virginia, Bethesda, Maryland, and Las Vegas, Nevada. Open from 5 to 9:30 Monday through Thursday, 5 to 10:30 on Friday and Saturday and 10 to 2 and 5 to 8:30 on Sunday, it has survived more upscale restaurants across the hallway because it serves delicious food with impeccable waiters in an elegant but gracious atmosphere. On our most recent visit, we started with shrimp cocktail, escargot, smoked salmon and Caesar salad. For entrees, we chose trout almondine with French green beans and beef Bourguignon with egg noodles, mushrooms, carrots, pearl onions and bacon. For dessert, what else? The classic profiteroles are filled with vanilla ice cream and soaked in home-made double chocolate fudge. Yummy. For whatever reason, there aren't many French restaurants in Chicago--as compared to steakhouses and Italian restaurants--but Mon Ami Gabi sets the standard for the Parisian influence.

Excellent Lakeside French Bistro

By DocDG |

We had dinner here celebrating a family member's 90th birthday. The food was excellent - both the featured steaks and the fish and steak frites specials. Wines were wonderful but a bit pricey. The service was attentive and helpful as well. Noise levels were moderate which is important for many customers. The location is right next to Lincoln Park in Chicago, a short walk from the lakefront. As with many French restaurants, the prices are all A La Carte, so that the final bill was a bit more than anticipated. But an excellent choice for a celebratory dinner

Solid Spot for French Classics

By Alan Shannon |

Overlooking Lincoln Park, this established restaurant has been cranking out traditional French food for a few decades. There's nothing inspired or unconventional on the menu, but that's what makes it great--predictable and perfect.

Fabulous Food. Fabulous Service.

By Bonnie T |

This is a very special place. It's pricy but worth it. The food is excellent and so is the service - we are often made to feel like we're the most important people in the restaurant because the waiters are so eager to please. Sit outdoors if you can because the inside tends to get warm and the tables are closer together. Try the profiteroles or bananas foster for dessert. Both are scrumptious. The restaurant is in the Belden Stratford Hotel - a very quaint and pretty place (look at the ceiling in the lobby). This is a Lettuce Entertain You restaurant, so its quality is consistent and, if you're a Lettuce member, you can earn a lot of points that turn into cash toward any Lettuce Entertain You restaurant.

Favorite Lincoln Park restaurant

By DFDubya |

Great food at reasonable prices as one expects from Lettuce Entertain You restaurant. Service is always friendly. Lively atmosphere. Wonderful setting in a classic, historic apartment building. Save room for the profiteroles. Always finishes the meal perfectly! Favorite place to eat whenever we're in Chicago. Can finish the evening strolling around Lincoln Park.

Consistently enjoyable

By Culture Vulture 60657 |

We've been coming to Mon Ami Gabi and its predecessor Un Grand Cafe for decades. I'm happy to report that while some things change (the bread, sweet butter and shredded carrot you pay $1.95 for used to be complimentary, for instance, and specials stay on the menu for a week rather than rotating nightly), mostly it's the same high quality, good service and good, simple French bistro fare. Tables seem farther apart than they used to be (a good thing). The menu is smaller, due to staffing issues (a shame); our waiter said they can't staff someone to prepare a "cold table" so currently don't offer raw oysters, shrimp cocktail and other seafood items as they used to. But everything we ate from the frisee salad with poached egg and lardons of bacon, to the garlicky escargots, to steak frites to the famous profiteroles were excellent. Our server was both chatty and competent. Food came very promptly after it was ordered and was served hot. We felt well looked-after. We were thanked for coming. It was, as usual, a very pleasant evening out at a neighborhood gem.

Always pleasant

Nice service and people; they check all rhe boxes. It is a neighborhood staple for family and friends.

One of our favorites in Chicago

By CaptainNonno |

This restaurant is one of our favorites in Chicago. We like to go there for special occasions. We were most recently there for our anniversary. We love the ambiance of both the restaurant and the hotel it's located in. We started our meal with the mussels mariniere in white wine & herbs, which also came with frites. Being Italian, I love dunking bread. And Mon Ami Gabi serves you an excellent crispy baguette, which I enjoyed dunking in the mussel sauce. Next we had the arugula salad, which came with ricotta crouton, tapenade, and sherry vinaigrette. Delicious. For the main course my wife had the halibut special, which came on a bed of spinach and plums! My wife couldn't say enough about it. She let me try some, and it was delicious. I had the steak frites, with Roquefort. Very tender and delicious. Since it was our anniversary, the server brought us a complimentary profiterole, which was a very nice touch. This is not the cheapest of places. But considering the quality of the food, ambiance, and service, I believe that it is fairly priced. We can't wait to go back.

Excellent Meal

By Centralia434 |

We had reservations for 8pm on a Wednesday evening. We were seated about ten minutes after our reservation. I noticed the service was very attentive, and caring. The food was excellent! Best French onion soup I've ever had. Save room for dessert. I would recommend this place to everyone.

Mediocre

By Anthony Stewart-Moore |

This style of cuisine is hard to screw up, and though the food was not awful, we found it to be lacking in flavor and poorly prepared ( steak under cooked, fries almost burnt). It is a reasonably attractive restaurant with a good atmosphere/buzz and has a pretty outdoors terrace. Escargots were flavorless and sauce watery. Mussels, same thing really, lacking any flavor. Steak frites, avoid ordering the roquefort topping which was extremely salty, the fries where way overcooked. Pate was good, crab cakes were pretty tasteless, I suspect there was an overabundance of "filling" and not enough crab ( too much emphasis from management on food cost?). Service was adequate but nothing special. Reception was indifferent, almost unwelcoming and was somewhat disorganized. Wine was overpriced for the vintages offered. Unfortunately the restaurant overall suffers from "chain - itis ", it has no personality, it feels like a business as opposed to a place of warmth, welcome and personality. The Lettuce Entertain You chain are good operators but perhaps their size is now too big and those with the vision are too far detached from the day to day operation to know and feel what is happening "on the floor".

Pretty French restaurant in Chicago!

Beautiful place in Chicago to enjoy the French cuisine. The food & service are great. Highly recommended!

Very good brunch in Lincoln Park at Chicago's Mon Ami Gabi

By NewPlaceFan |

One of our first outings since COVID, and we stopped on our way to Chicago. The highlight was the baked goat cheese with the pesto baguette. Other dishes we tried were also very good, including the chicken liver mousse pate, moules mariniere, steak au poivre (quite excellent), steak benedict, smoked salmon benedict, and steak classique. The service was very attentive. We especially liked that they have their steak and regular menu even for brunch. Only street parking, so that can be an issue.

Beautiful restaurant

By L H |

Lovely, classic French bistro decor. Pleasant patio (opens 3 pm in the summer) across from Lincoln Park Zoo with decent champagne by the glass. The salmon rillette is a bit uninspired, a bland sort of shredded salmon pate/salad with toasted baguette slices. Nice staff.

Dinner

Steamed artichoke done to perfection, stake unbelievable good, great wine list. Knowledgeable servers. We received a great welcome. The timing between appetizers and dinner was perfect

Brunch or dinner, it's as good as can begot

By Taylor B |

Mon Ami Gabi has been beguiling customers for so long--how many across-the-hall restaurants have come and gone during its existence?--that the only questions my wife and I have are: Which do we prefer, Sunday brunch for dinner any time? Chocolate mousse or profiteroles? Located at 2300 North Lincoln Park West, in the exclusive and fashionable Belden-Stratford building, in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood, across from Lincoln Park and the Lincoln Park Zoo, Mon Ami Gabi is a traditional French brasserie, the flagship of a chain serving French cuisine that also has locations in suburban Oak Brook, Reston, Virginia, Bethesda, Maryland, and Las Vegas, Nevada. Pretty classy addresses. Well, the restaurant is pretty classy, too. Who else serves 11 different styles of steak frites? Open from 4:30 to 9 Monday through Thursday, from 4:30 to 9:30 on Friday and Saturday and from 11 to 8:30 on Sunday, Mon Ami Gabi offers a menu that keeps you coming back for more. Start with Sunday brunch, served from 11 to 2:30. Love the Classic Eggs Benedict with Canadian bacon, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. My wife prefers the smoked salmon with brioche, creme fraiche, egg and capers. Wash it down with non-alcoholic Mimosa and Blood Orange. However, most opt for the Gabi Bloody Mary with pickle, olive, lemon and lime. Dinner is exquisite. We started with a bowl of the signature onion soup au gratin baked with gruyere, escargot (wild oven-roasted snails with garlic-herb butter), Caesar salad with grana padano, baguette croutons and chili oil and summer tomato salad with Corsican feta cheese, torn basil and red wine vinaigrette. For an entree, my wife chose roast salmon with peas and leeks, creme fraiche and garlic spinach. I couldn't pass up the Dover Sole with sauteed spinach, roast potatoes and lemon-brown butter sauce with French green beans. Dessert? Classic profiteroles with vanilla ice cream and home-made double chocolate fudge. Irresistible, right? Don't delay. Reservations are highly recommended. Call well in advance.

A great dinner before or after "ZooLights"

By TravelinFieldGuy |

This is a fabulous high-end spot for dinner before or after visiting the zoo for "ZooLights" during the Christmas season. The restaurant is only about a block from the west entrance of the zoo, and the classic French cuisine is first tier. Until our visit, I did not realize that this is the original that inspired the Mon Ami Gabi in Las Vegas. While you lack the view of The Strip, the Chicago original has classic French cuisine that manages to be excellent while not being pretentious, the setting is fun, and the staff is first tier. It will set you back, but you get what you pay for. Our food was excellent. I, of course, went for my usual steak frites bearnaise, my wife had her favorite moules frites, other family members had duck, a confit appetizer, etc. Everything we wonderful. Bottom line is that this is an excellent French bistro experience in a fun Chicago neighborhood close to the zoo. It will cost you, but it will be worth it.

Another great lettuce experience

By kpmd2000 |

From the beautiful park view situated at the Belden Stratford hotel to the warm fresh baked French bread in paper bags, this offers a true French experience. Great entrees including steak pomme frites

Wildly Popular and good

By Joseph C |

This restaurant occupies one of the most charming spaces in Chicago. The ambience and service is excellent and the food offerings are quite good. The garden, weather permitting, is especially nice. Cocktails are not great here but wines (all French I recall) by the glass are well chosen and good pours. Years ago I was of the opinion that the food was not as great as the ambience but this has long since changed. Prices are not expensive considering the overall experienceto be enjoyed.

Awful dinner

By dunstan2017 |

Had not been to Mon Ami Gabi for about a year, so was looking forward to dining there....steak frites. I ordered the steak frites with bernaise. The steak was loaded with butter/grease....hard to taste the difference....and very salty. The bernaise was a gelatinous, tasteless, peculiarly colored blob in a sauce boat. The frites tasted like paper, not potatoes. The others at my table complained about how salty everything was. There are many other French restaurants in Chicago that serve much, much better food.

Bon Appetit at Bon Ami Gabi

By susanw |

Bon Ami Gabi is a great pick if you are dining with the family or as a couple for pleasure or business, during the week or on the weekend. Nonetheless, reservations are recommended. Truely a French bistro; great by the glass or bottle wine list and menu selections from Mussels, Steak Frites and my long time favorite, Skate. Desserts are very traditional and delicious too; offering classic chocolate mousse, apple tartin and more.

Made an 11:30 reservation for Sunday brunch. Location easy to find on Lincoln Park Drive, the restaurant is within the historic Belden-Stratford Hotel building. Valet parking is available for $14. We enjoyed the special Eggs scramble with crabmeat & spinach, the bacon quiche & Croque Madame. Also enjoyed mimosas, fresh juice & coffee. Excellent service & flavorful food. Total bill $91. Will return here to dine in the future.

Great spot for Sunday brunch with French flair

By Ellen B |

Just dined at Mon Ami Gabi for brunch today. It was delicious! I started with the French Blonde cocktail made with freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, lillet blanc, elderflower liqueur, gin, & lemon bitters. It was delicious and refreshing. I followed that with a 3 egg omelet with Jarlsberg Swiss cheese, sauteed onions, and bacon. It was delicious. My daughter had the Croque Madame and herbal tea. She pronounced both as tasty and well prepared. Service was timely and polite, prices are very reasonable. We'll definitely be back.

Great food, but a busy Monday night

By CelSue89 |

Went this past Monday night, the place was super busy- service was slow but I had the feeling that the kitchen was backed up. Food is very good and our server was sweet and because we were seated 25 mins after our reservation, they gave our table 2 desserts on the house, nice way to complete the meal and to make up for the slow service (food coming out slow) and late seating. Nice job and would go back for sure.

Excruciatingly mediocre brunch

By JRDurden |

While I can’t provide an alternative to an authentic French brunch to this establishment there are plenty other options for brunch in Chicago. One incentive is this place is extremely affordable & kid friendly but if you’re looking to have your taste buds wowed like I was expecting then you’ll be disappointed. Very old school & classic which is a good thing to some people just not myself.

Mon Ami Gabi, Chicago -- like a visit to Paris

By LCL-travels |

Mon Ami Gabi, Chicago, is located in the historic Belden Stratford hotel across the street from Lincoln Park. Inside, the ambiance provides the feeling of being transported to a Parisian bistro. The French-inspired menu includes classics like French onion soup baked with a topping of gruyère cheese and steak frites with a choice of steaks. Other entrees include fish, beef and chicken dishes.

Splendid Experience

By Prfct_Fan_Food_Srvc |

We went to Mon Ami to celebrate birthdays in September. The setting was simple elegance. The service was timely and professional. I had the New York strip with an Auv Poir sauce. It was done as requested. Other members of our party had fish, bison and chicken. A great dining experience. Everyone enjoyed the occasion and the experience. We recall that there is a location in Las Vegas on the strip. We look forward to coming back.

Charming, Great Service, Wonderful Food

By Edmund L |

It’s a French -style bistro. Our waiter, Erik, was tops. Every recommendation he made served to enhance the food and wine (plus saving us money). Food was marvelous and the bill was very reasonable. It is busy so make reservations. It is located in a residential building with a doorman and valet parking. Easy Uber connection.

Delicious classic French cooking in a relaxed upscale environment

By ORTravelMom |

We went here the week prior to Christmas with extended family. (4 adults, 3 kids) The menu features classic French Country fare: steak fritte, French onion soup, escargot, fillet, salads, and beef bourguignon. Steaks can be topped with classic French sauces if preferred. The full bar offers a mix of classic and creative options including a variety of French wines.

Huge!

By terunz V |

This restaunt is French restaurant. The Restaurant's interior is classic. Good seafood and meat!

Moan about Gabi

By Tod N |

The service was good, the restaurant lovely and the building it’s located in was AMAZING! The food however was about average. The chicken liver mousse was terrible. And the pomme frites were basically fried potato shavings, the majority of them were under 1” in length and way over cooked. It looked like we got the bottom of the fryer basket. All the food was average at best. It’s too bad, we were looking forward to eating here.

A great birthday dinner!

By D. |

A delicious birthday dinner. Restaurant is not too loud, but is intimate and delicious and service was attentive and kind. High quality food and a wonderful evening.

Not worth the Taxi fare

By TNTWesternAustralia |

Unless your a local don't waste your time! We booked with high expectations, what a dissapointment! Obviously this restaurant is very popular with the locals, if your a visitor then expect to be treated differently! Upon arrival shown to our table and was attended to quickly, however it was all down hill from there! It was the last we saw of that waiter (John) for the night. Too busy socialising with other patrons he obviously knew. To start, my partner ordered the French Onion soup which was nice but nothing special. I had the smoked salmon and it was very average, presentation was disgraceful. For mains we had Strip Sirloin and Fillett with sides of Brussels and Mushrooms. What was disgraceful was whilst we were still eating our starter, the busboy brought out our mains and we had to turn him away, totally unacceptable. It shows a lack of communication from our original waiter to the kitchen!!!!! We had ordered wine by the glass and when we finished, our glasses were whisked away without the offer of whether we would like a second. We had Profiteroles for desset, they were terrible, dry, tasteless and un-appertising. Whilst having dessert not once were we offered Tea or Coffee. Worst dinning experience and service of the whole trip!!

Cute decor and nice outdoor patio

By AJH |

This was an okay restaurant with a french twist. Very crowded interior and it can get loud at times. Had to wait 20 minutes on a table we had reservations for out in lobby area of apartment building as there was no where to wait inside. House Merlot was terrible - for a french restaurant get a better wine please! Food was okay. Dover sole was delicous but steak dish was very tough. Not a steakhouse so quality was not the best. Appetizers of escargot and country pate were good. Dessert of salted carmel tarte was outstanding.

Excellent experience

By Emil S |

The place may be more costly, but you do get the service for it. From the host at the entrance, to the service by the table, the food choices, and attention to the details both on food preparation and presentation. Unfortunately I ended up not really dressed appropriately there by accident, and did feel a bit uncomfortable, since everyone else was dressed up, the ambiance made by the staff, and even other guests there was very pleasant. I do recommend to not wear t-shirt or jeans, even though I was in one. Will be going there again on my next visit to Chicago, and dress appropriately of course the next time.

Good food, ambiance issues

By Henry F |

The food was excellent. My wife and I each had a steak frites and were very pleased with the quality the stead and the fries. Service was particularly well, friendly and efficient. One problem is the dark lighting. Very difficult read menu and not comfortable for conversation. I prefer to see the people I am dining with. Second problem was small size of table. I imagine this allows them to serve more customers but our table was uncomfortably crowded.

The Chefs' Spring Dinner was extraordinary

By kelleher01 |

Chef Battocletti and the team did an outstanding job with their Spring Dinner! Superb wines, extraordinary prep, what an exciting fun evening!

a true bistro flair

Being there brings you back to Paris. Try an electric skate for entree. Beforehand, visit the Lincoln Zoo and do not forget to see the Conservatory there.

Consistently Great Food

By SeasonedFoodie |

This is one of our “go to” spots when we want a complete meal. Before your meal, you get a loaf of fresh baked French bread. We normally split a salad. My husband loves the steak and claims it’s better than most of the steak houses in Chicago. This time I ordered the trout almandine. They do great fish—never overcooked. The waiters are good about recommending wine. We completed our meal with dessert and coffee. There is no parking because it’s Lincoln Park and it’s in a residential building. They do have valet parking, so that’s the way to go. In the summer, they do have a small outdoor eating area. It’s high quality food with great service. Make reservations because we’re not the only ones that love this place.

Great food, great view and great ambiance.

By Phil M |

We had Sunday brunch. Eggs Benedict and Fromage Blanc blintzes. Both were excellent and accentuated by the beautiful day on the patio overlooking the Lincoln Park Conservatory. Make a reservation. I wouldn't hesitate to go again.

Mid priced french food

By JimWeissman |

Years ago we loved the restaurant Ambria in the Belden-Stratford Hotel. Now the Belden-Stratford is no longer a hotel, and Ambria is long gone. Mon Ami Gabi is a more moderately priced restaurant, which still serves roast chicken, steak frites with various sauces, escargot, cheese, cold (and hot) seafood, and wonderful French bread. With wine by the glass, expect to pay about $50.00/person. The only complaint was that it is a little noisy.

Always a winner.

By GKBrash |

Mon Ami Gabi has been one of my favorite places for years. It has a great location, great service and great food. When we went it happened to be my actual birthday. I did call a few days ahead to make a reservation and am I glad I did. It was a Wednesday night and the place was packed. Even with all of that we were still seated at our table at the reserved time. As soon as we sat down water was served along with a sizable baguette with butter and a shredded carrot small plate for tasting. As I mentioned earlier this is one of my favorite places in Chicago. I am also a creature of habit and the reason I go to Mon Ami Gabi is for the steak frite. But before we ordered dinner we had some appetizers. I had the homemade country pate which was served with whole grain mustard. My dining companion had the onion soup au gratin which is a French classic baked with Gruyere cheese. For entrees with both ordered the Prime Steak Frites. She had the classic version which is with maitre d'hotel butter and I had the Dijon version which is with a Dijon mustard butter. I asked that it be cooked medium and it was served exactly how I asked. There was also a goodly portion of frites on the plate. All very tasty. Since it actually was my birthday Mon Ami Gabi gave us an order of profiteroles for dessert. These are little pastries filled with vanilla ice cream and covered with their homemade double chocolate fudge sauce...really good. For those of you who drive they do have valet parking for $14.00. Parking in that area is hard and if you are going to have an adult beverage you may want to consider taking a cab or using a ride sharing service. Bottom line for me is that Mon Ami Gabi is always good and they do a great steak frite. Whenever I have the urge for steak frite this is the only place I go.

Special Anniversary

By Gwynne F |

Our 56th anniversary (told them with reservation) was incredibly special - greeted with a lovely flute of champagne. The food, the wines, the server Michelle, and the festive atmosphere of the Restaurant Week in Chicago made it one of the most memorable wedding anniversaries we have ever had. Michelle knew not only about the wines they had, but also about the regions of their origins. It was a delight to talk with someone who knows so much about wine! It was a wonderful evening for us. We live in Freeport, Illinois, a two to three hour drive from downtown So, even though we had never been to Mon Ami Gabi (my friend, Gabi) we felt a very warm and sincere welcome. Every seat was filled with an enthusiastic group of diners. We could hear pleasant voices all around us, and we did not have to listen to any piped in background music. The coq au vin that I had was covered with red wine reduction sauce. The escargot was different from what we are used to, with more herbs than garlic. The triple scoop ice cream with profiteroles and hot fudge desert was perfect for us If you are planning to go during restaurant week, I would offer that reservations for the best times fill up early, so don't wait until two weeks to go like I did. Altogether, a very special French bistro, a fine restaurant.

Amazing Ambience/ great staff

By CLC |

My Girlfriend and I were in Chicago for an Art Exhibit and wanted a great night out for dinner.Found this incredible French Bistro up by Lincoln Park. We had French Onion Soup (incredible) Salad with soft cooked egg (very tasty) Mussels ( huge in an absolute flavorful broth) Chocolate Moose Light and dense all in one. The staff explained things and were very attentive! Can not wait to return.

Loved it

By Lisa H |

Service was great, food was great. My husband and I were visiting our oldest daughter and some friends in Chicago, and decided to go here for dinner, and we made a great choice. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Our friend's daughter is allergic to peanuts, and they went through the menu with her and helped her choose and even double checked with the chef. I would definitely go back.

Date night

By travels5065 |

While in Chicago for date nights we visited the Mon ami Gabi restaurant, we’d been to the one in Vegas several times and this one didn’t disappoint either. Stopped in after we visited Lincoln Park Zoo Lights

Mon Amis fails to deliver on Grub Hub

By Robert N |

Ordered food on line through Grub Hub. Restaurant left a message saying there would be a 30 minute delay. No mention to call back. Then they cancelled the order due to not hearing back. Thirty minutes later told to start all over with order if still interested. Bad service from Mon Amis Gabi and no help from Grub Hub. Never again.

A French bistro in Chicago's Lincoln Park

By Taylor B |

Mon Ami Gabi is a classic French bistro located in the majestic Belden Stratford building at 2300 North Lincoln Park West in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood. A member of famed restaurant entrepreneur Rich Melman's Lettuce Entertain You empire, it has other locations in Las Vegas, Oak Brook, Reston, Virginia, and Bethesda, Maryland. But Lincoln Park is the flagship, an 18-year veteran of the culinary art with an identity all its own. Executive chef Michael Battocletti has fashioned a menu designed to entice businessmen, tourists and locals alike. How about Sunday brunch? Or Plates of the Day, featuring Dover Sole on Friday and Beef Wellington on Sunday? I've never been to Paris but if Mon Ami Gabi is a copy of a charming French bistro, I'm all for it. The service is friendly and knowledgeable and attentive. And the food? Well, you don't go to a fine dining restaurant to admire the murals, do you? This is a wonderful dining experience. The menu offers something for everyone and, on this occasion, our group of five was eager to sample this and that. Start with shrimp cocktail, onion soup au gratin, Caesar salad, escargot and scallops. No complaints here. Entrees? The more fish, less meat set chose Trout Almondine and salmon. The others opted for a 22-ounce bone-in ribeye, a filet mignon with an au poivre sauce and a 12-pound New York strip steak with bordelaise sauce. With sides of sauteed mushrooms, green beans and carrots. How could we pass up dessert? We sampled the Bananas Foster crepe and the rasperry and shortbread Galette with vanilla ice cream and the chocolate mousse. But the star of the evening was the classic profiteroles, filled with vanilla ice cream and home-made double chocolate fudge, a tasty treat you rarely see on any menu. The fine dining experience made all of us feel a little Parisian.

Brunch

By Shelly W |

This is a place you may only go once b/c it's a kinda pricey, but DELICIOUS and a great experience! They offer a brunch you don't see many places! They had Eggs Benedict in a couple of different ways, and I had the Bacon and asparagus quiche that had eggs that were so fluffy, when I cut it, it looked like cheesecake... Delish! Their menu is on website! They have a Creme Brûlée French Toast that tastes like Creme Brûlée... This is kid friendly and by the look of my grandkids plates, the chocolate waffles were great!!! RESERVATIONS ARE A MUST! I Don't think you will be disappointed!

Make This Your Go-To!

By Evan B |

Mon Ami is a true go-to. The food and drinks are always excellent. The phenomenal food is always complimented by the kind, accommodating, and engaging staff. I’ve never had a negative experience and it will remain at the top of our list.

Something for everyone!

By Sarah R |

As a picky eater, I didn't think that I would enjoy eating here. On the contrary, they had something for everyone! On the kid's menu, they even had a cheeseburger. The bread and fries were exceptional, and the waiters were extremely nice and polite. They filled our drinks quite often, and came back to check on us a few times. I would DEFINITELY go here again

Will definitely eat here again!

By Cheryl B |

We stopped here for Sunday brunch. Although we were probably not dressed properly (most people were business casual, we were in shorts and t-shirts), no one blinked an eye or looked down on us. My husband and I shared the special which was 2 filets with cooked spinach and scrambled eggs. On the side we ordered a homemade English muffin, peppered brown sugar bacon and sauteed trout. It was all very good. My sister-in-law ordered the quiche and said it was very good. We also had the French Blond as our beverage. Very good! Wish I lived in Chicago so I could go more often.

Mixed Dining Experience

By Ellen B |

Our family recently celebrated birthdays at Mon Ami Gabi. It was a mixed experience. The pluses were the delicious food and service. What more could you ask for, right? Unfortunately there were significant minuses as well. First, the food, which was 5 stars. We had a fixed four-course meal. Each course was delicious. Our starters were Escargots de Bourgogne & Melted Brie. It had been ages since I’ve had escargots, they were delicious, prepared with butter, garlic & parsley & served out of the shell in a piping hot pan with crusty bread. The Melted Brie was prepared with walnuts & apricot jam, so good! Our second course was a choice of either French onion soup or a salad with endive, radicchio, pecans, Roquefort & dressed with a light vinaigrette. The salad was tasty, nice & light. My main course was filet with a red wine reduction and pomme frites. The steak was perfect, but the fries were just OK. Our dessert was a tiny chocolate mousse in a glass with little chocolate chips in it. It was good but not remarkable. The wine our hosts selected for us was a great accompaniment. Our server was exceptional. He was cheerful and attentive; our service was perfectly paced. He was kind to the “littles” in our group, who were tired from a full day, well behaved, alternating between eating & dozing off. As for the minuses; the reservation was made a month in advance, yet we had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated! The lighting is very dim, and the tables are very close together. It was also very crowded and very noisy. So the atmosphere did not lend itself to conversation or relaxed enjoyment of the meal, thus my rating. As for the minuses.

Birthday Celebration for Leonard

By Leonard G M |

August 9, 2018 The evening started with making a reservation on line. This was a birthday celebration. The restaurant was not honoring reservation. Ones you valet parking at $14 for 2 cars. You wait a few minutes. The manager offered drinks at the bar and wait for 30-45 minutes. The manager then said allow him to work on reducing the wait. The manager worked and a 45 minute wait shrunk into 15 minutes. The got seats and we order just desserts. We ordered being in a fog from the commotion just trying to keep our reservation . We have Cream cream Brulé times to apple tart with cinnamon ice cream on the side and the big Lovett profiterole's. The profiterole's were over the top chocolate dripping all over the plate just good eating. We shall return for a full meal next time, hopefully it won't rain and enforce all the people sitting outside to come inside, take up all the seating. Shalom

Just Average!

By SusanRR9 |

I had read some pretty good reviews of this restaurant and was very disappointed. The food was mediocre...I think the peas and corn they serve with the scallops were frozen veggies. There seemed to be issues with the staff as well. For example, patrons couldn't find the bellman to call a cab when they were leaving. Rather than helping, the bar tender just told them to keep waiting and then laughed when they went back outside.

Wonderful French bistro

By Vacation375221 |

We are lifelong residents of Chicago, but only just visited this lovely restaurant. Sorry it took us so long! White tablecloths, attentive service, delicious baguette bread served in a bag, and an interesting and broad menu. We opted for the traditional steak frittes, which was among the best I have ever had. Extensive wine list. We'll be returning soon!

Wonderful food paired with lovely French wines.

By Barbara O |

We often go to this restaurant when in Lincoln Park. The food is very good, beautifully prepared and is fresh. Their version of a salad Lyonnaise is wonderful with lots of different greens and the egg is poached perfectly. Whether seafood, fowl or meat all are good. Their French wines are also very good.

Worth the drive out of the city

By Rich |

In a beautiful part of town and in an old historic building which is the perfect setting for this cosy French Bistro. The GM was the perfect host and looked after us incredibly well.

Losing it's luster.

By Susan S |

For me, it is losing its luster but the prices are still high. We have eaten here many times. Atmosphere lovely, menu too. But all our food was a little off and way overpriced. I had a salad and an appetizer sized pot of mussels. My husband had the salad with some added chicken. the chicken was bone dry, overcooked. Both salads were too heavy on roquefort cheese and too light on lettuce. They charged us for bread. We had no alcohol. Bill was in. excess of $100. there are far better places nearby.

Classic Frecnh dishes done well

By Michael K |

The French onion soup was sweeter than I am used to. They probably did it correctly and carmelized the onions appropriately. A great local gin (CH), excellent wine with a list that, for the most part, stays well under $100. The mussels were superb. Even the appetizer order was perfect for out party of 3. The skate was amazing!!!

Loss of a friend

By David G |

Loss of a favorite hangout I use to love going to Mon Ami Gabi for a manhatten and dinner with Jordan the bartender They are now over run with people who come for 5 dollar happy hour and free frites The customers even are afraid to take the free frites thinking they are going to be charged and add ice cubes to their wine. Welcome to progress and on to our new favorite place, Riccardo's just up the street.

Good French Food with Exceptional Service

By Lynn W |

I've been to Mon Ami Gabi a number of times times and it's consistently good but not always great. The food with a French flair is always delicious and predictable but not overly creative. The ambience is very nice and the staff extremely attentive. It is reasonably priced. I will certainly return since it's a convenient neighborhood restaurant but there are other choices in Lincoln Park area that are more deserving of highest rating five stars.

Delicious and decadent french food experience

By Daryl D |

We had a delicious meal here and received wonderful service from all staff members. Great ambiance on the patio especially. Overall a wonderful dining experience. We highly recommend the lamb appetizer.

Mon Ami Gabi is a wonderful dining experience in Chicago

By winofoodtravel |

We have gone to Mon Ami Gabi several times and every time it's a winner. There is a casual atmosphere much like a French Bistro. The staff is all very professional and accommodating. The food is always great and there is a nice wine list. I would highly recommend Mon Ami Gabi. I would also highly suggest the other two Lettuce Entertain You restaurants in the same building- Intro and Naoki Sushi.

Great Brunch and Close to the Lincoln Park Zoo and Other Attractions!

We had Sunday Brunch then went to the Lincoln Park Zoo on our way out of Chicago to go back to Ohio.Great Brunch, but get reservations ( a must).Friends had the French Onion Soup and said it was the BEST they ever had...it certainly looked and smelled fabulous! The Duck Confit and Charred Zucchini was also very tasty. Our kids tried the Creme Brûlée French Toast and Banana Foster Waffle and were in seventh heaven. Just get reservations for Sunday and then sit back and let them take good care of you!

Lovely Brasserie ambience, crisp freshly baked french bread, food consistently high quality, location with view of Lincoln Park. Chef has a talent with fish dishes that is special.

French Bistro Food in Chicago

By Traveling Teddi |

On a recommendation from a business colleague, my husband and I ate at Mon Ami Gabi for the first time last week on the evening before Bastille Day. We would have made reservations for Bastille Day instead, but we were advised that other than a special menu, there would be no other events celebrating this special day. Everything was delicious! My trout amandine was prepared to perfection! Dessert was a chocolate and salted caramel tart that was creamy and rich but not so much that it was overload. The restaurant was busy and bustling. We had made reservations but did not know that there was outdoor dining so we did not request it. When we arrived, we were told that we could be seated inside immediately (we were on time so that was expected) but if we wanted to dine outside, there would be an hour wait. Customer service would get a higher grade from me if they had asked me at the time of making my reservation which I preferred. Other than that, we enjoyed everything and will return.

Decent French food

By SurfStrider |

First of all you get a real baguette or two dropped on your table before you even lift your water glass. The accompanying butter isn't d'Isigny, but it suffices. The wine selections are pretty good, including an outstanding Chateauneuf du Pape. The onion soup is hot and savory. My companions had steaks, perfectly cooked and by all accounts delicious. I had chosen a warm goat cheese salad. But it paled in sad comparison to its counterparts in France--could have used some toasted walnuts, ripe tomato wedges preferable to cherry tomatoes, mixed fresh greens rather than all frisée, and more than a single little toast with chèvre. Service is relaxed, for a leisurely meal. If you're in a hurry, maybe look for some fast food.

Great brunch

By Diane K |

We truly enjoyed our Sunday brunch this morning. Service was great and I liked the duck confit with eggs, hash browns, brussel sprouts and beets. Very tasty! Ambiance was nice too.

Relaxed atmosphere, delicious food, great service

By cindyl246 |

We went with our 3 kids (teens). We ordered trout, mussels, salmon, roast chicken and caeser salad. Mussels and trout were by far the favorite, but all were delicious and portion sizes were huge. French Onion soup is large, easily shared with 2-3 people. I had the house Pinot Noir, meh. I wouldn't get it again. You only have 2 wine options (per variety) if ordering by the glass, that was a disappointment. Service was fantastic, from the moment we arrived until the moment we left, every employee was really well trained and pleasant. It is an expensive/high end restaurant, but we were comfortable in jeans. I loved that :-) Be sure to make reservations

Favorite restaurant in chicago!

By Brittany F |

Mon Ami gabi has been my favorite restaurant in Chicago for a LONG time (try the filet mignon merlot for an orgasm in your mouth), but this trip was even better than we could have expected. After a long stressful week, my roommate and I decided to treat ourselves. From the hostess, to the bartender, to the wait staff (specifically Evelyn!!!!), we were incredibly impressed and overjoyed - we knew the food was delicious and the staff is always great, but tonight exceeded our expectations in so many ways. Thank you for a much needed night of relaxation, awesome service and delicious food and drink. We can never stay away for long, even with all the new restaurants Chicago has to offer - we keep coming back!

What a disaster of a dinner

By Nottootan5 |

WE have been going to Mon am gabi for over 16 years and last nights experience was the worst. They were not prepared for how many take out orders they would have due to covid so they ran out of frittes - basically a staple for them - they also did not get breat out on the table for fist 1/2 hour well after we had eaten our hot escargot. Clearly they were not monitoring the to go food and the people in the restaurant. They gave us mashed potatoes instead which was basically over cooked baby food. WE asked to speak to a manager who never came by.

Great Food!

What a treat! Reasonable priced, delicious food and wonderful service! I can't wait to go back. Seriously good French food!

Fantastic

The best French Onion soup around! Also loved the duck confit with red cabbage. The scallop appetizer was something we will definitely order again. Lovely dinner.

A Long slow decline

By Rich S |

Weve been going to Mon Ami for at least 10 to 12 years, almost always Lincoln Park. the Oakbrook location is just another mall restaurant. Mon Ami still has charm, location, a good menu, decent service. But like most popular restaurants, the charms decline over time because it's still a food corporation. prices creep up, quality and portions decline. our visit this month was the last.everything was just okay, but everything was just "off". So this review is mainly for the company, because the restaurant will undoubtedly continue to be popular. Au revoir, mon ami.

French bistro approachable dishes in a friendly atmosphere

By Weidspeed |

Since moving into Lincoln Park a few months ago, Mon Ami Gabi has become our favorite dining spot. The food is bistro hearty, with terrific flavors and generous portions. I like that MAG is casual (well, casual for a high end part of LP) -- none of the stuffiness or pretension of haute cuisine French restaurants. Waitstaff, while busy, is attentive and always friendly. We didn't know what Lettuce Entertain You was until our second time at MAG. If there is any concern that this feels like part of chain, you can relax: it's run and feels like any independent restauranteer's place.

went to dinner with out of town relatives and it was a bad experience

By rblumen1 |

Went to dinner with out of town relatives and we all enjoy French food. The service was not good and the food was mixed in quality. Our relatives ordered the steak and frites and said it was good. We ordered the pate which was excellent and the mussels which terrible., tiny over cooked, a miserable meal.

Paris in Lincoln Park

By xxivkt |

I don't normally recommend chain restaurants but this gem by Lettuce Entertain You is one not to be missed. Located in the Beautiful Belle Epoch Hotel turned Luxury Rentals on Lincoln Park West location can't be beat. In the summer of the outside patio is the place to be, service is great food selection reminds you of Paris. They start off by serving you a little small loaf of crunchy French bread and softened butter, delicious. Cocktails and wine selection are excellent. Start with some traditional Pates their decadent scallops au gratin. Steak frite is my favorite, and have enjoyed their fish pork dishes equally. Watch for the daily specials and enjoy a little bit of friends by the zoo.

Great food, superb service. Best restaurant we visited in Chicago.

By Balthazar |

Excellent restaurant. Great food, great service, great environment. We went to Mon Ami Gabi by chance. My wife and were walking near by and decided to check this place. We are foodies and the setting got our attention. From the moment we stepped in the level of attention to us by the personnel was outstanding. Service here is beyond excellent. Our waitress was very sweet and courteous, and very knowledgeable of the menu. Appetizers were fantastic, you must try the french bread. We had two salads. They were fresh and delicious. Drinks were delicious. Nothing to complaint. This is a great place worthy of your visit. Don’t miss it next time you go to Chicago.

The food is really, really good

By GalvestonJT |

This restaurant is located in one of the neighborhoods - Lincoln Park - in an old building. It is a bit cramped inside - lots of tables close together - and has a noise level. The French bread loaf was poor at the beginning of the meal. OK, now. Forget all that. You came here for the food and the food is sensational. In a word, sensational. Eric our professional waiter lead us to amazing choices. My dover sole, the monthly special was perfection. (Reserve your dover sole early as we were told that it sells out.) We each had a Greek salad -again perfection. Huge chunk of feta. Huge. My wife's steak was superb, perfectly med-rare. Hat's off to Eric. Hats off to the chefs. This restaurant deserves its wonderful reputation.

This is our "special occasion" restaurant. I can't afford to go to France, but the atmosphere makes me feel like I am there

French and fun

By Sadie |

We love to go here for dinner and brunch. The presentation is superb and always delicious. Just here for restaurant week and it was exceptional.

A Delicious Treat

By Bonnie T |

Mon Ami Gabi is a special meal. We don't go often, as it's pricey, but the food and service are fabulous. And it's worth waiting for a table outside. Every dish is a masterpiece. Desserts are divine. Come here to celebrate something special. It is a meal to remember.

Great Again

By Raphael L |

A friend took us there to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The tequila pours were good as well as the Long Island ice tea. We always ask for some pom fritters with some mustard to accompany the delicious French bread. My wife had the salmon appetizer which was divine as well as the trout, that I order and is a specialty of the house. Make a reservation for s nice dinner at this bistro in Lincoln Park and you too will be satisfied.

Great neighborhood restaurant!

By Mary K |

Mon Ami Gabi is among the Lettuce Entertain You group of restaurants, and is certainly not to be missed! The setting is in Lincoln Park, right near the Lincoln Park zoo. It's a great place for an intimate dinner for two, or a family get-together. The food is always consistently good, and they have a very nice gluten-free menu. The wine by the glass option is quite well positioned, and the central bar is a fun place to 'hang' if your table isn't quite ready. Sitting outside in the Summer is a must for a great dining experience, and for the people watching!

I want it all:)

By Nikolay G |

Great restaurant! Officially it was the best onion soup in my entire life and I do like onion soup. For the main course I took skate's wing which was also very good. But they say everything is amazing there. I tend to believe:) As usually in the States the place was noisy, but bearably noisy.

Nice place for brunch

By Joe R |

Quaint atmosphere, helpful and friendly service, delicious food. Your culinary experience begins with a crusty French baguette, fresh butter and jam. Brunch cocktails can be standard or extraordinary at your option. Try the French blonde, tasty and tart. Various delicious Benedict and other egg and other delectable egg and non egg breakfast dishes grace the brunch menu. I added a side of sauteed trout and it was fresh and perfectly prepared-- quite delicious. Menu is a bit pricey, but worth the experience

Dinner with friends on the patio

By James M |

It was a beautiful evening. We had returned from spending the day at Navy Pier. We were all hungry and decided to go to Mon Ami and sit outside on the patio . I love their bread. They always have specialty cocktails and daily food specials. I ordered my favorite the Chicken Gran Mare It is fabulous and very filling if you can finish it. They have creative and tasty salads. A daily soup special is always enticing. Bring friends or family or just yourself. A great place. Enjoy

Dinner for our 7th anniver

By Christian F |

Dinner for our 7th anniversary. The service was very attentive. Food was very well prepared. We both ordered a steak. We where also comped a desert when I mentioned in the reservation it was our anniversary. Will go back!

Beautiful Birthday Dinner

By Clay G |

For my birthday, we went out to get a nice steak dinner at Mon Ami Gabi. We started out with a scallop that really got the dinner off right. With a nice glass of wine, you really get the base set for a delicious steak. I got the steak frites. The real highlight is the frites. I’m not sure what they do to the fries but they’re probably the best fries I’ve ever had with a steak. And the best part is that they’re celiac-friendly. For dessert, we finished it off a chocolate mousse. Overall, it made for a magical birthday dinner.

Hit and Miss

By toujoursparis1 |

So I think this might rate a higher score if I had chosen something different from the menu. My daughter had the Croque Madam and thought it delightful. I had the crab cake Benedict special that really was not that good. The crab cake was just blah. Hollandaise was nice, so maybe a different menu item would have been better. I will have to say that the service was outstanding. We never wanted for anything and she was very friendly.

Amazing Date Night!

By Lindsey K |

This place is amazing! I highly suggest making a reservation. We arrived at our reservation time, but our table wasn't ready. The manager gave us a complimentary Handmade Burrata Cheese appetizer for our wait. I didn't really care for it. We also ordered the Jumbo Crab Cake. It was so good! I had the Filet Mignon Au Poivre and my boyfriend had the Grilled Bison Ribeye. They were both so delicious. We made noises with every bit. After the main course, we did had the Gala Apple Tarte Tatin for dessert. It was ok, not what I expected. Just a heads up, it's pretty pricey here and I'd dress very nice with a tie.

Winter dinner

By MoandMari |

Wow! We have been coming to Mon Ami for 10 years, but our last couple of dinners were a bit disappointing. We actually took the time and spoke with the manager, I believe last year. This week we tried again since we had guests and wanted to go see the zoo lights! What a wonderful meal. Oysters and mussels were excellent! Mussels were so tasty! We also had of course steak and Frits and Dover Sole! Excellent! Round table which is much easier to talk, service was great, the restaurant was busy since it was a Friday night !!

Too Loud

By C1587QNlarryb |

The dinner was fantastic from the Escargot to the Lobster Bisque to the Steak Frites. However we were placed at a table adjacent to a room where a Happy Hour/Christmas Party was in full swing. The people from the party overflowed to around our table and the noise was very loud. Highly recommend this restaurant but stay away from the party rooms.

Nice brunch

By Chi_Town_Medalik |

We came on a Sunday with a reservation for five. We were seated a few minutes ahead of our reservation time. Our waitress came right over to introduce herself & took our drink orders. We all collectively had Bloody Mary's, which were good but had slightly too much pepper flavor. Our waitress throughout the meal, even despite a slight backup in the kitchen, was terrific & very attentive. Everyone around the table had varying eggs benedict: smoked salmon, traditional & artichoke with florentine, all variations were delicious. We all left happy & full. Great restaurant for all occasions: family, date night, etc.

My Friend Gabi Never Disappoints!

By Michael B |

My wife, Heather and I had been to Mon Ami Gabi in Las Vegas a couple of years ago and were so impressed she insisted we go again while in Chicago. I'm so glad we did. We ended up ordering the same dishes as our Las Vegas dinner just because they were so good the first time. We started with escargot and goat cheese appetizers, paired with their reasonably priced Bordeaux by the glass. As we were polishing off the last delicious morsels, Heather said, "I could tab out right now and be completely satisfied." We split the Beef Bourguignon as our main course. Everything was cooked to perfection as it was in Las Vegas. Every bite a masterpiece with noodles perfectly firm, beef falling apart at the slightest touch, and mushrooms sautéed masterfully. The Creme Brule topped the meal off paired with a 10-year Tawny. The room was packed with happy patrons, but the atmosphere wasn't overly noisy. Our server, Michah (spelling?), was a jolly soul who made us smile everything he visited us. The service was timed well without ever feeling hovered over. Mon Ami Gabi is officially a go-to for Heathrr and I whenever we come close to any of if their four locations in the US. Bon Apatite!

Paris in Chicago

By Stu S |

Mon Ami Gabi bills itself as "A Classic French Bistro" and having enjoyed dining in bistros in Paris, I would have to agree with their description. The bistro, located on the first floor of the Belden-Stratford Hotel, allows you to walk out of Lincoln Park into a charming Parisian environment that looks, smells, sounds and tastes like the real thing. We had dined here before and I had been hoping to order their delicious cassoulet. Unfortunately, though the weather was damp and cool, it wasn't quite cassoulet season yet. The alternatives on the menu made me forget all about my original quest. As we reviewed the menu, a freshly baked baguette was delivered to the table. For Hors D'Oeuvres we enjoyed the Chicken Liver Mousse Pate and the Wild Escargots de Bourgogne. I used almost half the baguette to soak up the garlic-herb butter. We both chose Steak Frites with Béarnaise sauce and were very happy with our selections. I'm generally not much for French fries but I didn't leave a single scrumptious frite remaining on my plate. With a little effort we were able to find street parking near the restaurant, however they do provide valet parking. It was a delicious meal in a romantic setting.

Always an excellent meal!

By stlphotogal |

My daughter, who lives in Chicago while attending college, found this gem in a search of French restaurants in the city a year or so ago. We dine at the Lincoln Park location whenever we visit and have had nothing but excellent experiences each and every time. The service is top notch, ambiance is second to none and the food - well the food is truly delicious. I heartily recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone.

Très bien bistrot!

By AEBlumberg |

My wife and I are frequent diners here (I have been coming here since its earlier iteration as Un Grand Café). It is one of the closest experiences to a Parisian bistro as one might hope for in the Midwest. Steak frites are always excellent. The escargot are a reason in themselves to be here. A rotation of great French style cocktails are always on the menu. Tonight was skate wing and duck á l’orange for mains. The skate was batter fried which was unusual. But the crust was notably light and the skate was flaky and succulent. Served with a lemon caper sauce. The duck was deconstructed with a perfectly rare breast sliced and a leg more deeply cooked, fall off the bone tender with crisp skin on the outside. A side of lyonnaise potatoes was perfect. Working backwards, we started with the escargot, followed by a frisée salad. Both were excellent: the escargot were delicate and the traditional sauce had a hint of lemon zest to freshen the garlic and butter. The frisée was divided in the kitchen with a fresh poached egg on each portion. The lardon were traditional and the greens were crisp and flavorful despite being offseason. The baguettes are crusty and delicious. A good wine list provides plenty of choices with good range. The atmosphere is cozy bistro - tile floors, wood, warm lighting, bustling. Low dividers between rooms retains a full view of the entire restaurant. There is a tendency for conversation to arise between tables that lends to a friendly, congenial evening, creating friends in a shared experience. A special shout to our server, Seth, who is amazing, attentive, professional and knowledgeable. Our entire service staff were great.

Good meal in a beautiful setting

By JJOriginals |

We went to this restaurant because they had a separate gluten-free menu. And I was impressed with the wait staff who brought out gluten-free bread right away. The waiter was courteous, accommodating and attentive. Three of us ordered steaks, which came with fries. Unfortunately, the fries were a bit over-cooked or burnt. It was a little disappointing for such an expensive meal. However, the steaks were good. The restaurant has a lovely secluded, outdoor patio. It was a perfect place to eat on such a nice evening. Also, the restaurant is located in a gorgeous old building.

Birthday dinner

By ReaderChicago |

Lovely restaurant near Lincoln Park. We were a party of three and wanted to sit outside on a beautiful summer night, however did not want to wait the required 45 minutes. The inside seating was fine. I was surprised that it was so children friendly. I had the beef Wellington which was a little dry. My sister however had the fillet, and it was delicious. The other person in our party had a vegetarian dish, and couldn't stop raving about it. I would return.

Never Disappointed

By charles a |

Our party of four was seated promptly. All enjoyed their flavorful dishes ranging from, fish to lamb to steak. Professional wait staff. Table are close and the room can be noisy but this just underscore the brasserie influence. Visiting here for years and never disappointed,

Mussels were WONDERFUL!

By Sharon G |

I had a Caesar salad that was delicious--the cheese was very finely shaved and had a great taste. If you like mussels, this is the place to get them. My husband had the steak special and it was so tender you could cut it with a fork. Even though it is a "hotel restaurant," once inside, you would never know. Nice atmosphere. Nice walk along Lincoln Park Zoo.

Fantastic food, decor, service in classic setting

By Charles W |

Valet service really helps here, and we were promptly seated at our reservation time. Immediately we got that fabulous french bread and some butter. Our server (Don) has been there for about 20 years, and he is right on point. We ordered a nice bottle of Angels' Whisper rose (but they should have more than four on the wine list) and it was delightful. Enjoyed a goat cheese tort appetizer - very rich and delicious. Was in the mood for steak and I got filet and my party ordered steak frites. All cooked perfectly. She splurged and also split a dessert. Not the location for short budgets, but absolutely a wonderful experience by all counts.

Absolument Fantastique

By Grace A |

Haven't been here for awhile & just enjoyed a delightful dinner where everything we had was absolutely delicious!!! Lovely setting inside the charming Hotel. Nice patio seating too. We tried to sit in the patio but it was a bit windy & getting cooler. Also, our would be server there was very impatient & curt while asking for our drink orders that my daughter was very uncomfortable, so we moved inside before ordering anything. Perhaps we should have mentioned this too to the manager but we just wanted to eat by then... This Server was much better - while not super friendly either, she was knowledgeable, professional, and efficient. Our Food was all Wow: - Scallops over mint pea puree & corn/peas/asparagus - Trout Almondine with Hericot Vert - Cauliflower Puree - Profiterole The crusty french bread with whipped butter was also perfect to sop up the brown butter from the trout plate & the pea puree under the scallops. Everything Just Delicious - that is so wonderful since we are Foodies:)

Lovely cozy spot

By Caroline I |

This is a classic French bistro. The atmosphere is welcoming and warm and the menu is exactly what you would expect. We had a delicious steak with fries and a huge chunk of salmon. The baguette was perfect. Best of all was the way the room was set up. Each table felt quite intimate.

Great food

The places is beautiful! The food was really good! We loved the profiteroles and the cocktails! The French toasts are huge!

Great Anniversary Dinner

By Kevin M |

We wanted to do a special dinner for our anniversary and had heard good things about Mon Ami Gabi. The restaurant is in a boutique hotel in Lincoln Park and includes outdoor dining. I opened with the escargot appetizer and then my wife and I ordered the steaks. Everything came out perfect. Our waitress was very gracious as we were not in a hurry for dinner as we wanted to savor the atmosphere and food. The wine recommendations were good and enjoyable. We had mentioned on Open Table that it was our anniversary and the hostess mentioned it right away and the waitress was aware. We will definitely be back! Also, the restaurant offers valet parking for a fee but there is plenty of free parking on the streets.

Great Place for the Brunch

This is a great meeting and greeting place. The menu and atmosphere are warm and welcoming. The service is always excellent. And the menu selection is delicious no matter what the time of day.

Enjoyable Family Dinner

By CMelam |

We very much enjoyed Mon Ami Gabi for a family dinner. This is a very classy restaurant with highly trained staff. A bit stuffy for me, but an overall enjoyable meal. They have a large selection of steaks and some creative seafood and salads. A wonderful wine selection and the profiteroles for dessert are to die for.

Charming setting, good food and terrific service

By Jim M |

A setting worthy of Paris, with attentive service, and diverse menu, fresh ingredients, lovely presentation and great taste. Save room for dessert - there are great choices and you can't make a bad selection. We were there with a large group and the service couldn't have been better! A good wine selection - and a generous pour on liquor and cocktails. Not a casual spot (you may feel out of place in jeans and T-shirt), but not stuffy either. Quite enough to enjoy an intimate dinner (and lovely outdoor seating across from Lincoln Park (when weather permits).

Excellent French Restaurant

By afamily04 |

This is a fabulous little French restaurant. Food was delicious and wonderful little touches like full French baguette served in paper bag and carrot relish with the bread was so good. Delicious vegetarian pasta with pea shoots, salmon salad was very good and we had several sides. Profiteroles are one of my favorite desserts and these did not disappoint, they were excellent. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and can’t wait to go back again.

Old Style Gem on Lincoln Park

By jstamilio |

Summertime in Chicago can be idyllic. Eating out outside at classic country French style restaurant. Good well priced wines, great artisan bread and Bouillabaisse night. I will go back next summer and I will be sure it's Bouillabaisse night

Lively bistro feel in this Lincoln Park Classic

By Gayle M |

Wonderful wine, great bistro French dishes in a warm, inviting and lively room on the Park... stop at the zoo, sip wine after and stay for dinner! You'll be very comfortable with the attentive service! Standards like steak/frites; French bread and interesting specials... last night: duck l'orange! Fish and veggie friendly!

Mon Ami - My Friend - Best Friend

By William C |

There are so many great restaurants in the Windy City, but Mon Ami Gabi in the old Belden-Stratford hotel lobby is my favorite for so many reasons. The atmosphere is wonderful - elegant and yet comfortable. It's white-linen service that reeks of classic French ambiance. The waitstaff is skilled and at your service without being overbearing. They are exceptionally well-trained and make this a career, not a part-time job. The cuisine is French without question. The menu is well thought-out, and there's literally something for everyone. Unlike so menu pretentious restaurants, the prices are more than reasonable for Chicago, and price aside, the food is excellent. There are specials posted on the chalkboard, but beware - they go fast, and unless you dine early, you might miss them. For starters, try the French onion soup au gratin or an hors d'oeuvre of the chicken liver mousse pate. Bien! For entrees, I highly recommend the trout almondine. It's done to perfection and is not drenched it sauce - just brown butter and lemon to capture the trout's full flavor. Sticking with Les Poissons (fish), the caramelized sea scallops are to die for. If seafood is not your forte, they have a whole list of steaks that are equally wonderful. It's located in a charming area of Lincoln Park West, and it's easily accessible by bus or taxi. This is one place when visiting Chicago you don't want to overlook.

A Pleasant New Year's Eve

By Jimgo |

I was surprised that this old favorite not recently visited was packed at 6:00 PM on New Year's Eve. But given great corner table in back room and a cheerful, attentive waitress. While the menu isn't overly long, it does offer a range of Bistro dishes. I had the Filet Mignon, Au Poivre (there were four other ways to go with this steak) and my wife took one of her favorites. Both great! So was the Profiteroles which hit a triple +(great crust, great ice cream and super chocolate) for me. Wife loved the special Xmas log. Fast valet taxi service home on a -5 night.

Still remains one of our favorites French places to dine

By mooresy2 |

We have dined here several times over the years both here and in Vegas. It remains very consistent service wise...from the warm baguette of bread in a bag...the sliced carrot salad to taste while you order..The freshest oysters...great Steaks...fabulous profiteroles..This trip i was pleased to know they had a tourchon of fois gras as an appetizer...Had to order it...and boy it was the biggest piece of fois i have ever receives.. I actually left some on the plate...He had the steamed mussels marinara style which were the small mussels (our preference) and very tender and flavorful...Then i had a half dozen oysters..we were both so full following our appetizers we cancelled our salads...and missed dessert. Highly advised.

Loved it

Great service and excellent food. I had the dover sole - delicious! Everyone in our party really liked what they had. Will definetely go back.

Par Excellence

By Alberta A |

My travel partner and I were seated in the back room - I appreciated a table out of the fray so we could visit better. Our waiter was very knowledgeable, attentive and had a good sense of humor. I had a glass of Pinot Blanc which was very good. We split the scallop appetizer which was not that expensive given the food costs of scallops these days. My partner had steak - perfectly done medium rare. My short rib was high on meat and low on fat - deliciously complimented by the celery root puree and squash. All delicious even if the hot baguette is not complimentary. We will be back!

Great Food and Atmosphere!

By shaveman126 |

Our food was very good, and the menu had many appealing choices. The atmosphere was a darling french bistro feel and with a park across the street, it felt removed from the hustle and bustle of the city, but still very chic. Our waitress, (Cecile? Celeste?) was really good- just the right amount of attentiveness. Their Covid19 policies were very well-followed but did not interfere with our enjoyment of the evening. We will visit again!

Nice

By L H |

Charming French bistro decor, good food. they know how to not overcook eggs; not a tinge of brown on the omelette. The truffle eggs don't work; the chewy bits of truffle overwhelm the delicate softness of the eggs, and their flavor as well. Melted brie is very good, though the baguette over-toasted (too dry). Our server was great; knows her menu, gives good advice.

Great French restaurant!

By Michele W |

We went for the Restaurant Week menu and it was fantastic... including a drink and 3 course meal. The Steak Frites were superb and dessert was to die for! Service was excellent with numerous staff helping out.

mildly disappointed

By andrew l |

Was looking forward to our family dinner and while it was nice to e with husband and children, I was disappointed in the food and will not rushing back. First, when my daughter and I asked for a glass of wine, the waiter poured hers and then poured mine. It was the end of the bootleg so I did not get a full glass. He said nothing about coming back with more wine fill my glass so after several minutes, I asked him if he would mind topping me off so that I could have my full glass. He replied that he was going to get another bottle. Didn't really believe him and I feel pretty confident that if I had not asked, he would not have bothered getting more. Second, the bread was so hot it was difficult to enjoy and way too hard and crunchy for my taste. Our escargot and baked goat cheese came out so hot that we all had to wait a few minutes to eat it. My husband's scallops with cheese was luke warm. Service was fair. They were attentive but very slow. The wait for appetizers was 25 minutes and the wait for dinner was another 25 minutes. Way too long. We sat down at 7:45pm and finished at 10:30pm. And finally, I ordered filet migon with bleu cheese on top. There was a tiny dollup of bleu cheese and that was dissappointing. Overall the food was good but the disappointments were substantial in my opinion and therefore I am not anxious to retrun.
