Despite being a busy Friday night we were seated immediately. Service was (for me) the right side of friendly, but my Spanish colleague wasn't so sure. The server offered good suggestions - I had a shrimp cocktail and a petit filet and a salad. The shrimp were huge and tasty, the steak was one of the best I've had. It was perfectly cooked, full of flavour and not too big. The creme brulee was lovely and the slab of chocolate cake they brought my colleague was just enormous! Even the server was surprised. Worth a visit if you like great steak.

First time here and it was delicious. The valley has an old time steak house with all the fixins! Everything tasted great, especially shrimp cocktail, salad and sides! Wow will return again. I found the service to be excellent. a winner!!

The ambience of the place was nice, their steak was not that great, and their service really sucks. So i think the price of their food is too overrated since the food was not that great but expensive. Overall, it was worth a try. there's still other good steakhouses around.

A Valley perennial favorite. Have not visited in quite some time and was glad to see their High Standards have not slipped. Great quality and very impressed that the owner is on premises to greet guests. All the servers are passionate and knowledgeable and we have a great experience. The steaks are excellent and the prices are fair for a steak house. Also great menu for glutten free and non meat eaters. And the sides are terrific as well. Congratulations to the management and staff that make this a consistent Valley stop!

I absolutely loved this place for its authentic steakhouse feel. Proper cocktails, busy bar, perfectly cooked steaks to your order, dark, wood paneling rooms, lively crowd on a Friday night. It made me feel almost like a throwback in time to a day when steakhouses were the thing. Service was terrific. The owner stopped by for a chat (he looks like a steakhouse owner!!). Sides were hugely portioned and amazing (share the brussel sprouts and jalapeno corn). We were treated to our meal here but menu prices looked typical steakhouse. If i were in this area and hankered for a steak, this is where i would go. We were visiting from out of town and attending an event nearby with this restaurant selected by our hosts as a group special occasion meal. Quite memorable for us and greatly appreciated. Loved it!

This place harkens to the 50's or 60's in many ways, decor, how the food is served. Not cheap, but the quality was there. Huge portions. Two of our group had steak, which was perfectly prepared. One person had fish, one had chicken. Everyone was happy with the food. Also notable were the two sides, the brussels sprouts and the onion rings, which were totally notable and huge, and really good.

Business dinner with clients. Great steakhouse with sides in a typical old-fashioned setting. Private rooms available.

Monty's Steakhouse in Woodland Hills is always one of the Best Steakhouses in the area. We shared the beefsteak tomato/onion salad and the château filet Mignon with side orders of creamed spinach and delicious onion rings. Food and service is their tread mark of success! Love the red leather booths and the wonderful cozy atmosphere! Would highly recommend Monty's, always a treat!

My family ordered prime rib dinner, NY steak, and Caesar salad, lobster & shrimp appetizer. All dishes were cooked perfectly to our liking and delicious. It is a bit pricey but well worth it.

I had the filet mignon and fried brussel sprouts and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The service was great, and the food came out quickly, warm, and delicious.

Haven't been here is a few years.....food is still great....but nothing even remotely healthy.m everything is smothered in butter and crea, and sauce, dressings on salads are very heavy handed. Lots of bacon too. Yummy, but I could have gone for something s little lighter. Portions were enormous..the baked potatoes must have weighed three pounds each. I think that's a signature of theirs. But...the four of us shared three appetizers, one salad, three entrees, two sides one bottle of $45 wine and one dessert. The bill $370! and we were trying to eat a little less. This is better that newer steakhouses in that area, where you can easily spend $200 per person. But I was absolutely stunned at the cost co spidering we didn't order full meals for everyone. I know the costs involved in running a restaurant has gone up...but a cosmopolitan for $17? Great service, food was really good but heavy...but won't be I a hurry to go back. I can't justify the cost in my mind. I'm still experiencing a sense of shock.

Great steak and the best shrimp cocktail I have ever had. The steak was tender and cooked perfect and the shrimp are more like Prawns than shrimp. The staff is attentive and friendly.

Steaks and sides were very good and, IMO, as good as at Mastro's and definitely better then at either Flemings or Morton's. Service is decent - nothing particularly good or bad to report. What the place lacks is an updated interior so that it would appeal to the general population.

Somebody recommended us this place and we wanted to check it out. And since it was our Anniversary Day we thought that it will be a good match. But not so much, sorry... The place has an old look and the clientele is the same, with dedicated and loyal patrons. The food is expensive, probably normal for a steakhouse, and the price of wine is way exaggerated. We preferred to have our own, but corkage fee is $20, so it makes you think twice. The food was so-so, the steak was good but the pork ribs were really bad, the worst I ever had, dry, not cooked enough and covered in burnt paprika. I got the Burata filet, it was OK, but the size was smaller than a Petit Filet (not the price though). We are not going to return here even though is just around the corner. Sorry!

I made a reservation a week before arrival that I requested a garden room table with one of our party in a wheelchair. They called an 1 1/2 hours before our reservation time to verify our info. Upon arrival at the restaurant I was told that only a booth was available in the area we requested. That required my mother to leave her wheelchair with great difficulty and sit in the booth. The server Amanada was great and the food was very good as usual but I was VERY Disappointed with the the way we were served. The restaurant was advised that this was birthday celebration but there was no acknowledgement however 3 other tables that had there birthday's acknowed but not ours. Very Disappointed since we were from out of town and made it a specific point about the celebration. VERY DISAPPOINTED

Horrible! We tried Monty's for happy hour. They said they had full drink prices but free appetizers. After 30 minutes we received a 2 X 1 inch quesadilla. When I asked for a second, the waiter told me sorry, he had to feed the whole bar. When I mentioned the experience to the manager, he said too bad. We paid and walked out. Manager had a total attitude. If you can go anywhere else you will be better off.

Family owned and run. You must go. Avoid the corporate run steak houses, this one has family on hand every night. There are no slip ups, no unsatisfied customers, great dry aged steak, not simply great, but melt in your mouth, flavorful, perfectly cooked incredible beef! Do not miss this locally owned and run experience.

I was invited there for a business dinner. It was my 1st time there. I enjoyed everything about the place but what stood out was great service & a great steak cooked perfectly. Also, they a have a very good wine list. I do plan to go back.

We went late to hear the band, and Dallas Hodge rocked! We only ate appetizers and drinks. The shrimp monty app was fabulous!

I pass by here almost every day on my way to work. I have for years, and I finally stopped in. Admittedly, I am vegetarian and thus, the intrigue was minimal but the hubster and I took my bro and wife for a bday dinner. They all raved about the steak, and quite frankly, I raved about the veggie sides. The Brussels sprouts are delicious and the wine list is fabulous. Who need's anything for dinner besides salad, bread, side dishes and wine anyhow? All in all, a perfect place to eat and with the celeb sightings, a must when in Woodland Hills.

We took six of us including two youngsters to dinner They were very welcoming and the kids posed no problem at all. The kids menu is great. We took the waiter's advice and had the lobster app. Wow! It was exceptional. The stuffed sole and the steaks were all done to perfection. The only disappointment was the bread pudding which was very average. Overall a great place with great food and service

My fiance and I couldn't wait to try Monty's as we've heard good things about the restaurant. However, after we had our monthly dinner date (away from the kids), we wish we went elsewhere. The first red flag was when I called to make a reservation. I called two days in advance. The person over the phone (male, raspy voice) was very abrupt. "I'd like to make a reservation for possibly 7:30 or 8:00." Before I could even finish my sentence and say "8:00", the man over the phone said, "No, can't do 7:30, but I've got a 7:00, 8:00, 6:45...)". When he also asked for a phone number, I was deciding on giving mine or my fiance's number (and it was a pause of a split second, I promise), he again barked over the phone, "Phone number!" Then when the reservation was complete, I said thank you, and he said, "yeah" then hung up. Hmmm... Did not look promising from the phone call alone. When we arrived to our reservation that Saturday night, we were already not impressed by our first encounter with someone that works at Monty's. The host (older male) did not greet us - we had to acknowledge him as we stood next to his post. He looked up our reservation, and as he turned to another gentleman who sat us to our table, he forgot our last name and had to say, "Ummm, please show our 8 o'clock their table." Further into our dinner, we noticed we were treated differently based on our "appearance". We are a young-looking couple. We are 39- and 37-years old; however, we probably look late 20s/early 30s. We were dressed well (business casual). To others, we look young and out of place at Monty's. They probably think we couldn't afford the dinner, but that is completely wrong! Other little things that irked us during our visit - Amanda (our waitress) was not at our table as much as she should've been. She's a very personable person; however, she didn't check up on us as often as her other two tables. (Her other tables had, at least, 5-6 people at each table. That means a bigger tip for her). We had to ask twice to have our drinks refilled - even after passing by us countless times. We had to wait an extra 5 minutes to have our check brought to our table. And no one picked up our bread crumbs off the table and straightened the tablecloth like they did for everyone else. In regards to the food - My blackened salmon was cooked perfect. The garlic mashed potatoes, however, were bland and smooth. I like my mash chunky. My fiance's New York strip was flavorless. He asked for mushrooms on top of his steak and they just put cooked WHOLE mushrooms on top! It looked as if there was a mushroom farm growing on his dinner. As we were leaving, two people did not acknowledge us as we left. One person was a heavy-set man (possibly the owner or the manager). He was going around the room from table to table talking to the patrons. Granted, it seems as if most people who ate there that night were regulars, you should go to EVERY table to see how everything was going - especially if you were doing that already. I don't know if we were the only table that he snubbed, but it was very blatant. And as we were making our way through the tables to leave, he was standing in the walkway looking at us, but as we got closer, he turned and walked away. Again - no acknowledgment. The other person who did not acknowledge us was the male host. As we left the dining area and stepped into the foyer, he looked at us, then turned around and found something "interesting" on his computer screen. As we walked by him, my fiance said (sarcastically), "Thank you." The host was stunned, made a coughing noise, and looked away. All in all, we felt the food did not warrant the prices. And we definitely did not like how we were treated. Everything was overrated. We will not be returning to Monty's.

Monty's has always been the place to go for truly amazing steaks. Family owned and run for 3 generations it is a labor of love. Even after the top 3 chain steak houses moved to the area Monty's still holds court. What makes Monty's special is the hand selected top notch offferings,USDA Prime aged steaks and seafood selections that vary in season. Whatever you desire Monty's can provide, from diet restrictions to a request for a 3 pound ribeye to pair with a 3 pound lobster tail , consider it done. If you are looking for a trendy "look at me" spot Monty's is probably not it.Folks come here for the food. Monty's is Old School, Red vinyl high back booths and servers who are just as memorable. The bar area can get a bit loud but full menu dining is available and there are several flatscreen tv's to watch sporting events. During Happy Hour 5-7 ,free appetizers are served as long as you have a bar beverage in front of you. Gina is your cocktailer and Vicente is your guy as plate after plate arrive during the evening. The number of plates will depend on the number of patrons. Regardless it's a nice touch and since their ingredients are top quality everything brought out is delicious. We started our evening with "Gary's shrimp" appetizer and shared the delicious Rack of lamb and the Full cut bone in Rib eye off the daily "special" menu. Amazing and prepared Perfectly ! We had a side of grilled asparagus and several "to go" boxes. A wonderful experience and we will be back soon.

In our visit to Woodland Hills, decided to have a special dinner and were very pleased with outstanding ribeye steak dinner, cooked to perfection. Side dishes are very large and very good. Being Friday nite, we enjoyed the live music and dancing. It is a very special place and perfect for a celebratory dinner.

Tonight I tried some new things at Monty's. We had a special crab appetizer, and it was fantastic. We also had Garys shrimp which was shrimp wrapped in bacon stuffed with a jalapeno with some BBQ sauce. We also had the society blue cheese salad with the red Italian dressing and blue cheese dressing on the side- delicious. Then we split some ribs and a chopped steak. The ribs were tasty but a little fatty. The chopped steak is really nice and really large served with a nice mushroom gravy.

This restaurant came HIGHLY recommended by a friend; who has NEVER disappointed me in the past with his reccomendations. I was expecting outstanding food and service... The service was Excellent... The food; however, left something to be desired! There were LOTS of nummy choices on the menu, and some wonderful "specials"... I ordered the Maine lobster tail... It was served over cold and oily shoestring potatoes and the steak knife provided, would not cut the rubbery lobster tail. Hubby ordered the Swordfish... It was OK (8 out of 10). As a side, we had the au grautin potatoes... They were burnt on the bottom and lacked seasoning. Desert.... DO NOT order the Apple Tart Tattin!!! Puff pastry was like rubber. There was NoT a piece of apple to be seen. When you get there, you are forced into valet parking....then thy park your car in the neighboring bank's parking lot. Bill was $160. For 2 with a bottle of wine (not high end wine). Shared salad, 2 entrees, they took the bad dessert off of the bill. We won't be going back!

1st Off Dark Outside didn't look like open, 6PM Sat Night. Broken SIgn. $5.25 to park - we parked on street. Loud and close seating. Waiter was there to take order and drop off food - never saw again. Had to flag him down to tell him Sand Dabs were MUSH! Manager/Owner never came by - they replaced with just the fish dumped off and ran away. $70 for a steak. $23 for some really small special of Crab/Lobster, wanted to change - never could find waiter. Cesar Salad was nothing like reviews raved about - horrible. $500 dinner for kid's birthday and feel in a really bad mood spending this kind of money. Lived in area for years and thought we would try this place out. Wish people would give real reviews. We don't eat steak - had special with Crab/Lobster and the mushy sandsdabs and dull salad. Waiter is probably trained not to ask how food is/was because we would have told someone. Saw someone who looked like they were in charge walking around but could not get eye contact. Horrible. I will share on #Facebook, too.

I've eaten here twice and was amazed both times at the attentive service and the amount of food. Granted, it is expensive, but normally you pay a lot and get a decorated plate with an appetizer on it called a meal. Not here. You start out in the bar (think late 70's style - but with real class). Drinks are reasonable and from 5-7 they continually (I mean every 10 mins) have server walking around with tapas food to sample. I could have been full if I'd stayed in the bar. Once you are seated at your table, the size of the food being served to other customers will shock you. Stakes are aged just right and are prime cuts. I deviated and ordered a chicken parmesean and when it arrived, I called it "chickensaurus rex" for the size. One of the few meals in my life that has conquered me and I couldn't finish it. A bonus is that this is a local celebrity haunt. You never know who you might meet in here. Try it for a great nice dinner.

We haven’t been to Monty’s for several years so we have thought we’d give it another try just to be sure it’s still the charming steakhouse of years ago. It is! Penny was our server and she has been there since it opened years ago. I had one of the best Chinese chicken salads and my husband had the chopped steak. We both had to-go bags. Wine was $10 a glass. I am pleased to report Monty’s is still a great, friendly, homey restaurant.

The restaurant has been around for ages and there is a reason why. Monty's is a classic steakhouse that does it up right. We were there on a Friday night and were there into enjoy live music as well. Our steaks were done perfectly with a bone in Ribeye as the main. The mushrooms were amazing as well with a house sauce that just works. The service was amazing from all points of view including the valet, waitress and sommelier. It is on the pricier side but we felt it was well worth it.

Monty’s is an old school place but with plenty of contemporary food. Fantastic service by people that have worked there for years and have had every dietary request. Saturday nights there entertainment in the cozy lounge that’s also fantastic. I’ve been going to Monty’s for years and recommend it highly !

Ordered a Filet (Medium Rare) - that came out to be Medium (in best case) and a NY Steak (Medium) - that was well-done + 2 minutes. The server never came around asking how we liked the food, so that leads me to this review online. Overall experience - disappointing. The server also did not ask if another glass of wine, coffee, desert.... Best of luck to you, or better advise - look elsewhere, as this is not worth the $

The dining room is traditional bordering on stodgey. The food is also traditional steak house faire. The quality is good but the prices are too high. A meal for 4 with cocktails and wine hit $600. I didn't think it was worth that. Staff were a bit stiff but okay. We enjoyed the meal.

Rarely do you find a place that is perfect in every way; this is one of them. The food was excellent, as was the service. Everything was top notch and, while not at all inexpensive, it was not all that unreasonable. Even parking was a bargain for a place like this. Clearly the word is out, since the place was packed. I suggest getting there early and having a reservation.

Been here several times in the past and it was good. My last visit, 2 years ago was very poor so I had not returned, but we decided to give it a try again. I like to give second chances for some stupid reason. It was very busy with the older crowd and a lot of locals at the bar. Bar staff was pleasant and friendly. It all changed once we sat down. Waitress was rushed and didnt seem to concerned with us since it was just the two of us. She looked like she had too much going on and her bus staff just ignored her, really not her fault. Ordered a filet and it was terrible. Cold in the middle and no taste. When we ordered the waitress she didnt ask if we wanted any of the additional sauces for a additional fee of couse so my steak was dry and cold. Food was very no eventful and for the almost $200 bill it has reconfirmed my we will not be back. Had to cook my own steak last night so my taste buds would remember what a steak should taste like.

The food at Monty's is excellent, from the salads (their Caesar is the best) to their sides and steaks, all are top quality and prepared extremely well. Only downside is the pace is a little tired looking, it could use a make over/remodel. Service is adequate, not great, not bad.

This restaurant was within walking distance of where we were staying for our holiday in LA. We walked in on spec and it really gave the impression of being a favourite for the locals. The four of us shared some shrimps and a couple of steaks which were delicious. The waitress was due to go on her honeymoon to Italy and made us feel really welcome. We had intended to go back, but time ran out.

We went there for evening cocktails and had a blast with the band and dancing, clientele and staff great! Made reservations for Christmas dinner. IT was fabulous food. The owner, Bobbie made us so welcome on this holiday. A beautiful time with family and ambiance! We are going back tonight with my Mom!

While Monty's has a diverse menu, the entree's we ordered had to be returned for lack of proper cooking temperature. Even the bread pudding was returned as it was cold inside. An expensive meal not worth the time or price.

We were 9 couples for dinner and dancing. Waiters were professional and friendly. Food was delivered promptly and it was delicious. I enjoyed my steak. My wife enjoyed her sand dabs. The rock band started at 10 - good music with just enough room for dancing. We will return.

My wife asked me if I would like to go to Monty's for a steak soon........ I said heck yeah problem is that we live on the east coast. Her sister lives a few miles from there though and she knows I would book some tickets and fly to the west coast for a steak at Monty's. She knows how to work me:) She loves the place too. Great old school steak house, huge portions, properly made cocktails, the works. Go there, eat there, don't be shy. We are really far from being locals and well liked there. from our first foot in the door. And I don't know what this reviewer is talking about drunks and fighting in the parking lot. It happens at every establishment now and then especially ones that serve alcohol not sure how you can blame the establishment, try it again.

Old Chicago style steakhouse with classic menu, perfect cooking and delightful atmosphere. You can not recreate the ambience, it's just there and you must enjoy it. Delicious steaks - they know their meat. Visit and you will not be disappointed.

Had their fillet with tomato sauce and cheese as an entree. Asparagus, mushrooms, and potatoes for sides. Ended the meal with bread pudding. Dinner was good, but their service is impeccable. Our drinks were never less than half full. Solid restaurant that seem to be very consistent with the food and service. It looked like there are many 'regulars'.

Drunk people being served. A young man assaulted in parking lot. Assailants allowed to leave. Tried to intervene, asked to leave. Not allowed back in. Had to pay bill at door for pointing out beating in parking lot. Meanwhile, valets just resting on patron's car. Low class. Trashy establishment. LAPD should be advised. I'm sure plenty of DUI's from this place.

There were three Monty's and we have eaten at and enjoyed all three. Pasadena was our Monty's of choice as it was local to us and it fit us like a glove. Alas; it closed many years ago. I don't like to drive far for a restaurant but we still manage to get to the Topanga Monty's a few times a year. This is a great steakhouse.. Just like the New York steakhouses of yesteryear.

march 17 yes st. Patrick day is our anniversary, for the pass 8 years we have been coming here for a great dinner. i cant say a romantic one and the atmosphere is a so so, just a loud, Irish, old looking steak house and bar. must say that the food is superb meet always juicy and well prepared. servers are not as friendly and accommodating helpful as you should expect from a fancy pricey restaurant. so for us it will be a once or twice a year place to go to.

I was ignored by the hostess when I entered even though there was no one in line. Another customer actually pointed to me and said, "He was first," when she acknowledged the other customer. Hostess said, "I'll have her take you back shortly, referring to the table runner who had just left with another group. No problem, I can wait. The table runner came back, but the hostess didn't seem to notice (or care). So I waited. After the hostess finished her friendly conversation with whomever she was speaking to, she went back to her computer. The table runner pointed toward me and there was an "oh, yeah, take him to xx table (do not recall the number). "Finally," I thought as I sat down at the table. I unfolded the napkin and started browsing the menu. A lot of great food and knew I couldn't go wrong. Finally picked out an appetizer (calimari) and after careful consideration decided on the Prime NY Cut 12oz. I went back through the menu, just to be sure. I was happily satisfied with the choices. I put the menu down and I waited. And waited. And waited. No recognition, no water, no bread, not even eye contact. Now I'm very self conscious...was it me, was it them? I began to realize this lack of acknowledgement was systematic. Did I want to be ignored when I walked in? Did I want to be ignored when I sat down? Did I want to spen the rest of my dinner in a nice steakhouse having to beg for service? So I left. Just got up and walked out (hadn't been able to order anything). And in line with my experience, no one said a thing. So I stopped by the hostess stand and said, "That table is open again" and then left. Not a fan of restaurants that charge $50 a plate (usually very much worth it) giving worse service than Denny's. I'm sure the food is good, just don't go on a day the hostess and wait staff couldn't care less if you showed up or stayed at home.

Had not been here in years. Food was pretty yummy, ambience fun, and wine and food service off the charts! Side dishes were tasty. Fav dishes were prime New York steak, caesar salad, crispy Brussel sprouts, snd steamers. Looking forward to return trip👍

Food, service, cocktails, wine list all top notch. From a small group of two to our Christmas party last year of 22, I have never been disappointed. My favorite entree is the Pasadena Pepper New York Strip. Now I said it I need to Monty's and get me another one.

Been coming to Monty's once a year with my golfing buddies. Happen to be in town so I took my wife and daughter. Michael the owner greeted us and had a table next to us. I had the king crabs and porterhouse. George our server was awesome and the steak was even better. I didn't realize the the Porterhouse is part filet and part New York until he told us. Micheal the owner was eating the veal. He cut me a piece off and shared this fantastic veal. This is an old throwback family steakhouse that Mastros can never match. Family, food, friends with great atmosphere is what eating out should always be.

we were a party of 20 (end of Sept 2010) - the table was set up well and the evening started well (ok- except for the pushy and unfriendly valet parking person who knocked on the car roof to advise us of the rules). However, the service was so rushed that it reminded me of the farmer in our neighborhood serving his pigs- beer was spilled, and drinks and food was served in a way not appropriate for this kind of restaurant and price level. We spent the evening before at Morton's a couple of blocks away, same price region, with a totally different experience. The meat tasted burned and was also by far not the quality expected. This experience was shared by everyone in our group. Finally, the staff took the freedom to issue one big check with a twenty percent gratitude. I should have read the so-lala reviews here before. So, conclusion: $25 for the evening would have been appropriate regarding atmosphere, food and service, not the $80 we paid in average per person.

This is a must when ordering . Steaks are very good but I enjoy the sand dabs ( best in town) side dish scallop potatoes ( request must be hot ) 1 order good for 3 -4 people menu will make anyone happy from dry rub ribs , sizzling rib eye and Chicken parm crazy

The food and service were awesome. Don't plan on going early for a drink at the bar. They had no seating in the bar or anywhere to wait for your table.

Worse restaurant experience ever. Had a 7PM reservation, left at 7:40 with little hope of being seated and noticing tables waiting over 30 minutes to order, get food, and between courses. When we asked hostess about the wait after 15 and 30 minutes, she lied to us ("only a few more minutes", "next table") and was nasty on top of it. We went here for a special Christmas Eve experience and met the Grinch.

Very popular with the locals features huge portions and old school decor. Meat choices are delicious as are the appetizers. Not a cheap date however. Definitely competition for Ruth Chris. Valet parking and nearby street parking available. Make sure to get a reservation or expect a long wait.

My wife and I dined at Monty's this past Saturday and were, surprisingly, disappointed in our experience. As usual, the place was packed and loud, but we expected that. We started with their crispy brussel sprouts which were outstanding, as usual. I order a well-done, end cut of their prime rib and was extremely disappointed. Firstly, it wasn't very well done. Secondly, it was relatively tasteless with a watery horseradish sauce that had no 'kick'. Lastly, and I guess this is on me, I didn't ask nor was I told the price which was $52. IMO, on the high side for this dish. The waitress, in her rush to serve, knocked over her $20 glass of chardonnay spilling it on me and the table. No apology and no offer to remove it from the bill. This shouldn't happen at Monty's. Accidents happen but amends can and should be made. Overall a not wonderful experience. We will be back because this was a rare blemish on a typically unblemished record.

steaks are very good and well prepared. prices are actually over the big name corporate steakhouses....we prefer both the atmosphere and service at monty's. in addition in the last few years they actually developed a decent wine list, with a gal who is a real sommelier. yea, drinks are weak, but big glasses... and the bar is a circus show. it's a better evening than the other steakhouses and we always take a doggie bag home. PS their fish is often better than their meat.

Classic place used to be what you would expect from high end dining. Unfortunately the staff is declining in quality. I guess it is to be expected in los angeles. I just dont like going out to dinner and arguing with un educated and clearly poorly trained staff. The manager should do better.

Excellent food.. Wednesday free pub treats so good and so much could barely finish my baked potatoe which was largest I've ever seen..had a small cup of chili and was excellent . The fried pickles some of the best ever had.. Super friendly staff and owner personally greets at doorway. Piano player was incredible

Several times a year we find ourselves on the 101, looking to break up the drive between Santa Barbara and San Diego. Last week, we enjoyed a fine lunch at Monty's in Woodland Hills. This popular, old-timey restaurant provides a welcome retreat from the wearisome traffic and hectic downtown. The restful interior has subdued lighting and comfy booths, and one can peak through the windows of the interior cold room where produce is kept, as well as into the kitchen. There are lots of tempting options on the lunch menu, and my husband chose the chopped chef's salad, which was definitely entrée-sized; he claimed it to be one of the best he has tasted. I opted for the soup and salad combo, which consisted of excellent gazpacho served with an authentic Caesar salad. We'll definitely return to Monty's and be looking for an opportunity to indulge in dinner.

Split salads plenty big enough and they do sell half portions. Don’t fill up on the hot sourdough but order garlic cheese toast. Onion rings are great, split steak but favorite is the sand dabs. If room hot fudge sundae just dig spoon in
Disappointed with Happy Hours
Monty's is not a good place to go for happy hours. The appetizers (brochette, onion rings) are mediocre and the food only came around every 15 minutes. That is how far we got on the happy hour menu in more than 30 minutes. The drinks were good though. We ended up ordering dinner menu. This is the second time we have been disappointed with their happy hour and have ended ordering from their regular menu. They used to have great happy hours but now it is down to mediocre. I would go somewhere else unless you want dinner.
