Fabulous redo of an old corner South Philly bar. Excellent food, phenomenal service (such a great wait staff!) and a fun place to be. Rehab is terrific and you can sit outdoors if you want!

The beef tacos were tender. (Could of done without the horseradish sauce) The seafood enchiladas were fabulous. The salmon has a very nice taste and was cooked well.

Formerly known as the East Side Moyamensing Saloon and the front also featured on at least one episode of its always Sunny in Philadelphia this place has come a long way from those days of being a corner bar. Nice intimate setting with great food, drinks and staff this place is a must go on your list if you like local eateries. If you are not a local i may suggest public transportation, cab, uber etc because parking is at a premium and there are only a few spots reserved at the lot across the street which is not nearly enough.

A nice neighborhood eatery and bar. Great service and you get 100 proof moonshine. The burgers are also very good and around ten bucks. It is always crowded at dinner time.

While visiting family for the holiday, my uncle took my boyfriend and I here for a late lunch. I've heard so many good things about this place so I was excited to see what all the hype was about. The food was amazing - legit the best Mac and Cheese I've ever had and the beer was super tasteful and fresh. Their menu selection wasn't big but I liked that as I was not overwhelmed with choices. In addition, they had daily chef specials to choose from which also were creative and catered to the holiday season. The ambience of the bar was also nice. It's very classic tavernish mixed with a bit of rustic and industrial. Despite all the this, the outdoor seating area with heaters was the selling point for me as it reminded me of my neighborhood back home in Amsterdam. Overall, 5 stars and I plan on going back again when in town.

This fun neighborhood bar has great burgers. You should go when restaurant is not crowded. Usually everyone is friendly, both patrons and wait staff. Try the shine.

Best place EVER. Every time I took a bite of their salmon and cauliflower puree, I passed out from tastebud overload and woke up feeling like a million bucks. Life is worth living simply because their creamsicle cocktail exists. I would frame the chef's autograph and hang it in my living room if I could.

We eat here at least 3 times a month since it opened in the spring. I have never been disappointed in anything that I have eaten. They have appetizers, sandwiches and entrees. I make it a point of trying something new here every time I go, as their specials are constantly changing. They now have brunch too, which is amazing. I would suggest getting reservations, as over the past two months, we have had to wait more than 45 minutes to eat.

Recently visited with my family! Service was great! My son had wings (really good!), my daughter French Onion soup (really good!) and I had blackened chicken with pesto and gnocchi (very good!) Close bye there is a parking lot, which is nice, so visitors will have a place to park and be able to walk to Moonshine to eat! When the weather gets warm, it will be a nice place to sit outside.

Found this at the last minute for dinner before the Nate Bargatze show. Such a cute, intimate place. Staff is stellar, food is incredible and totally reasonably priced…we loved this place!!!

I visited with my husband and kids for dinner on a Saturday night. We sat at a hightop near the bar, which was perfect for catching the game on TV. The staff was super friendly and made us feel right at home... even though we were visiting from the suburbs. The beer selection was small but varied and included some great choices; I was able to have one of my favorite IPAs, so that was a plus. We tried the Spanish Arancini as our appetizer, and for entrees, we had Signature Burgers, Red Wine Meatball, French Onion Soup, Grilled Caesar salad, and Falafel Sliders. Everything tasted wonderful and was cooked perfectly. For a small neighborhood bar, the menu is surprisingly sophisticated. This place has it all: great food and drinks, friendly staff, beautiful bar (ask about the renovation!), and a relaxed atmosphere. If we lived locally, it would be the place I'd head to on a regular basis. If you're anywhere near South Philly and looking for a great place for dinner or just to hang out, head to Moonshine.

I have been wanting to try out this restaurant for a long time and finally was able to do so.. The 1st thing I noticed was that the happy hour menu has mozzarella stuffed meatballs for just 5.00 so I ordered them... When the appetizer came out I was surprised to see the portion size was huge.. The sauce stood out and was delicious and went very well with the delicious meatballs and it was accompanied by delicious garlic bread...I then had the burger and I love that you can choose to have the burger with fries, tater tots or salad.. So let's break down the burger Bun-- I love a brioche bun Meat-high quality and properly cooked Toppings--you only pay 75 cents per topping.. I chose bacon and hummus, yes I said hummus lol and it was delicious...I must admit that the superstar at this meal was the stuffed meatballs and that delicious sauce.. It was truly incredible

The food here was very very good. We had the fried pickles, edamame and mozzarella sticks. The food was fresh and made to order. The rest of the group had burgers and the egg blt. The place is small, but cozy and the staff is very attentive. I would recommend this place if you are looking for a good lunch spot with plenty of street parking.

I made a reservation for a group lunch to celebrate my son's birthday at Moonshine sight unseen - it turned out wonderfully! Moonshine is an intimate neighborhood bar and restaurant in south Philadelphia with limited seating for diners - I estimate that the dining area capacity is between 25-30 diners. Our party of 6 plus an infant was seated quickly at our reserved table. The placement of the table was such that even with limited space our 4 month old granddaughter and her car seat/infant carrier was comfortably in a corner out of the way of the crowd but still accessible. The servers were attentive even though there was quite a crowd between the bar and dining area - the NFL playoffs were under way and the crowd was into the early game. Food was quite good as well, typical brunch and lunch items which were reasonably priced and tasty. All in the meal was about $20/person including drinks and tip - quite a value! We're fortunate to have picked Moonshine and will consider them the next time we're in South Philly! Tip - Making the reservation early ended up a good idea - I doubt that the restaurant would have been able to accommodate our party without a long wait if we hadn't made and confirmed the reservation.

This was our first visit, and it followed an afternoon Phillies game. We were able to get one of the outdoor tables. Not really a scenic view but dining al fresco is always nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were not rushed but never felt forgotten; service was reasonably attentive. There were three of us and we shared the cheeseburger eggroll appetizer and caesar salad, as well as having individual entrees (chicken parm, blackened chicken pesto gnocchi, and chicken picatta ravioli). All of the dishes were very good and I would not hesitate to order any again. The eggroll wasn't my favorite but it was still good and the siracha ketchup added a bite. The caesar salad had a hint of anchovy taste which was nice. All three chicken entrees were flavorful and nicely portioned. You can get a lot of really good Italian food in South Philly. Moonshine can meet that need as well as provide some nice other choices too. I expect we'll visit again soon.

I had the pleasure of dining at Moonshine last night and all I can say is WOW!!!! The food and service was AWESOME!!!! This is a cute little restaurant tucked away on a fairly quiet street in South Philly. The drinks are great and the food was AMAZING!!! I had the red wine braised short ribs with mac and cheese and asparagus and Oh... My... Goodness, the short ribs melted like butter in my mouth. Everything tasted incredibly fresh! While you wait for your food they serve homemade chips and the just enough to hold you over until your main entree arrives. I will DEFINITELY be back!!!!

We went to the Moonshine Tavern for dinner, my brother found it maybe by location or by it's selection of beers. I ordered Teriaki Salmon, and found it average, had expectations of a higher quality meal. It was good, but better to go there for drinks.

We stopped here over the weekend and it was very good. The food, drinks and staff were very good. Two thumbs up.

Visited on an early Sunday afternoon, not realizing only brunch as being served. Although the brunch menu was a bit limited, we were happy with our choices. Waffles with raspberry compote were great-just wished there was more compote! Others ordered chicken & waffles and a chicken sandwich. $10 all you can drink Bloody Mary's or Mimosas, but I opted for delicious Blackberry gin fizz. Service was good as well. Only complaint was lack of parking and old menus.

We popped into the catering building next door to the main restaurant to check out a band Sat. night around 6:30pm. Cute place with a few tables. Husband loved the mozzerella cheese sticks.

We went for for brunch. The menu is a good mix of standards (pancakes and omlettes) and unusual offerings (skilllet of scrapple hash). They have a liquor license so drinks are available. Brunch featured $3 mimosas and bloody marys. There are high top tables up front and standard two/four tops at the back Not suitable for a large group. The service was okay but could be more attentive and more anticipatory. Price point is moderate, roughly $20/pp with tax and tip without alcohol. The food was just okay. We ordered omlette, french toast, skillets, and sides. Some items were a bit too oily. Seasonings were fine but nothing special. This place is fine as a local joint you can walkout to and be seated without a long wait. Not as good as MANY other local spots we've tried.

Went there for our sons birthday, Saturday July 11, about noon Kate was our waitress, the 3 of us all ordered Hamburgers, cooked perfectly. Kate was very attentive and answered our questions about the fries, which we all loved.

I liked my meal here but I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to sample what I would consider standard kitchen fare weighted toward burgers and comfort food. It's a nice addition to the neighborhood but I can't give it a rave. Please be aware seating can be very cramped in the dining room area and the bar can get quite loud during happy hour. There are tables outside which would provide a nice quiet alternative. Food was fine, if a little salty at times; and we preferred the tater tots to the somewhat limp french fries. Portions are large, so those with hearty appetites will be happy. Desserts were okay.

Good good and service. There are also some nice seats outside where you enjoy brunch, drinks or dinner. The prices are also much more reasonable than center city prices. Good fries!

Good food. However, very noisy. Easy parking in nearby bank parking lot. Great loaded tots, meatloaf, and ribs. Moonshine creamsicle drink was really good but you have to like sweet drinks. good service. Would go back.

We stumbled across Moonshine while we’re on our way to an event. The space is very small, however I’d recommend this spot time and time again. The food was absolutely amazing and the seasonal cocktails were just as tasty! I would make the 2 hour drive just for the hummus plate again!!
Great group event
I want to thank the staff at Moonshine for helping us create an amazing event yesterday. The food was good, the service was good, and the private space easily accommodated our large group. I would recommend Rich and the Moonshine staff to anyone.
