Stopped for a quick lunch and to get out of the cold. I decided to have the Irish Potato soup and Caesar salad. I washed it all down with a nice ginger ale. The place was full and the music was loud.

Moriartys isn't a great combination of English pub and American sports bar with added benefits of excellent food and attentive service. We were there recently after seeing a play at the theater next door. The restaurant also is a good value with a neighborhood vibe. The Christmas decorations were amazing !

Evidently we were pleased with our visit, ate there twice on a two day visit to Philly. Quick and friendly service, adequate menu choices, hot delicious food, what more can you ask. We also enjoyed the Irish pub ambiance. Definitely recommend this place and a good cold Guinness when visiting Philadelphia.

Just got to Philly and this was my first stop. What a gem! Fantastic staff (thank you Jennifer). Even better food and really reasonable prices. Will be back ....Can't recommend this place enough!

First, the wings here were whole. They were a good buffalo flavor, and not to hot. Everyone else in my party said their food was good as well. The burgers are supposed to be very good! The service was exceptional and the hostess was great!!!

My friend and I went here for a late dinner. We weren't super hungry, so we decided to just do some apps and drinks. We each had the crock of French Onion soup and buttered pretzels with beer cheese dip. Both options were great. We both ordered a drink, and they were fine. However, the waitress barely came back and getting the good took longer than it should have. It was only moderately busy, so it's not like there was a huge crowd at the bar or anything. I'd go back, but I'd hope for better service.

When going to the theater our first choice is Moriarity's, get there early or make reservations as it is popular with young and old. A Pub in the traditional sense, the food is excellent traditional fare as well as innovative to attract any preference. Wait staff are always congenial and smiling . You do not have to go to Ireland to experience the atmosphere but it will make you want to go.

We enjoyed east coast crab, cheesecake and fish and chips. Busy place with lots of people eating and drinking prior to seeing Hamilton, next door. Service was quite good and friendly.

Really great atmosphere and always a crowd. But definitely worth the wait. Close to theater for after a show or anytime. Wings are incredible. Food delicious!

Physically this is pretty much everything you would want in a center city pub. It's active, friendly, pretty with a lot of colorful lighting. It's a small space and it can be very crowded. There is an extensive beer list and there are some rare beers. However, being on the list doesn't necessarily mean that the beer is actually in stock. Three of the beers we asked about were not. The food is only acceptable even in the bar food category. Despite what sounds like an underwhelming review the overall feel of the place, the level of activity, the color is an up experience plus you can actually carry on a conversation here. This balances some of the negatives and accounts for the "very good" rating. On the night we were there the crowd was generally "older."

The atmosphere and helpfulness of the staff were great. The pub has a ton of cool decorations. But...I was not impressed with my Fish and Chips. It just seemed a little over priced for the food we received.

I wish I could say that my husband and I were able to keep our reservation; however, unbeknownst to us it was canceled by the establishment. On January 20, I took the proactive approach and reserved a table for myself and my husband, the reservation was for the much anticipated Superbowl Sunday. We'll, it was decided by the owners that they will not honor the reservations, but cancel them and set a cover charge for entry. So, much to my amazement, I have been unable to procure another reservation from any establishment in Philadelphia, at least one who will be airing the game...Who would have thought others might have procured their spots weeks ago as well. However, I was assured that if I get there by 2:00, I would be able to get a table. We'll, my reservation was at 6:30. I don't feel like paying a cover and then proceeding to sit at a pub for 4 and a half hours before the start of the game to only sit an additional 4 hours watching it. Thank you but no thank you.

One of my very first poorer ratings!! 1. Lots of empty tables but took nearly an hour to set our group of 8 2. Bartender had an attitude when I told her the Harp was flat, she give me a "oh really" look I asked if I could get something to replace it and she got even more agitated 3. 3 of our 8 dinner orders were wrong 4. My fries were stone cold Not a fun business dinner!!!

We stopped for a couple beers and some snack. It's a nice location, cozy and friendly and the girl at the bar was very attentive. They have a great beer selection. We had the potato skins appetizer and honestly it was not enjoyable. I would give it another chance as my son visits fairly often and likes the place.

I was here multiple times and each one was very good. There bar area has alot of room. The happy hour specials are nice. Service was good. They have many of the Irish specialties, they also have a south Irish food section. Prices are reasonable it has a good neighborhood pub vibe, kept me coming back.

I went into this pub yesterday. The weather was cold after several unseasonable days. I have visited this place several times before. I really wanted the crab cake platter, but this is served from 5:00 on and it was 11:30 AM. The server informed me that they do have crab cake sliders and so I ordered that. I enjoyed these three smaller crab cake sandwiches along with fries and coffee. The coffee was quite good. Verry festive atmosphere for the Holidays. Great service.

Found this walking down from the convention center. Great little Irish Pub with a nice list of craft beers and scotch whiskey. Standard pub fare with a nice selection for everyone. The Philly chicken cheesesteak wrap is highly recommended.

We were in town today and planned to hit the Reading Terminal Market for a late lunch. Since it was closed because of the holiday (Duh!) we did a quick Google search for a nearby eatery that was notable. Moriarty's fit the bill when we saw it on 2 separate "Not to be missed" lists. A few short blocks away and we found this little spot. Good hard cider. Nice menu. But really we came for the "not to be missed" wings. Yup!! Now I understand. I'm not usually a fan of wings but when the order came out, I needed to try just a bite. Then another bite. Then another bite... you get the picture. Giant portion too! Our web search was right... these were great wings and Moriarty's was a good find.

We stumbled across this place on our walk back from touring Independence Hall, desperate for a drink or two. The atmosphere is awesome, to say the least. And the staff could NOT be more fun and engaging. A special kudos to Nikki and I think the bartender's name is Frances. We had cheese steak egg rolls to go with our drinks and they were amazing! We liked this place so much that we returned on the last day of our 3 night stay in Philly.

Terrible service, flat beer, bone dry cheesesteak, greasy fries, high prices. Server didn't tell my table about beer specials (had to learn about that when she was talking to another table). Service took 20 minutes or more for everything, I was parched for want of a beer in a beer joint. Inexcusable, especially considering there's an Irish Pub directly across the street and a hundred other places within a short walk.

Drink selections and staff were amazing! Moriarty's is really well designed (decor). It made for a nice dinner atmosphere. I highly recommend this place.

Great bar with great staff. I've only ever had the wings, but I'd never be tempted to have anything else, full size, fried, a nice buffalo sauce, great flavor with a bit of heat, just fantastic - these are wings as they should be.

I've been going to this wonderful establishment since 1993! First, the wings here are to die for! Ok, now that we've got their wings out of the way, the rest of their food menu is outstanding as well. During the spring, summer, & fall you can dine outside, cafe' style. With that said, the inside is classic Irish Pub. There are 3 or 4 TVs at the bar for you to watch the most relevant sporting events, socialize, or relax. They have a great beer menu from either the bottle or the tap. Nice spot to stop in for lunch or dinner during the week or on the weekend.

Still craving. Horrible small dried out fish ... overcooked and bland. French fries were average cole slaw was soupy but tasted ok. I would have been happier having Gorton's

Nice atmosphere. We got a philly cheese sandwich, not very good could have used some sauce or something ( sign outside stated Best Philly cheese in 2017) kinda disappointed

Great atmosphere! Casey was our bartender and was awesome . She was friendly and gave us great tips on local entertainment.

Nice little pub! Our party had the sheperds pie, fish & chips and crab cakes. Everyone was happy with their choices - food was really good. Service was terrific! Great locations

Nice pub and bar atmosphere with great food. Food is mostly appetizers, burgers and sandwiches. The French onion soup is terrific. However, there are several entre platters including short ribs and a Sheppard pie my wife loved.

Great location, friendly staff. Very reasonably priced. Specials are delicious. There are two rooms upstairs for private parties and they do a great job on these.

Just happened to stumble upon this joint after leaving the theater. Cool spot reasonable drink prices ... nice beer selections... fand the wings are great! Bartender and waitress are very personable! Can’t wait to go back !

Less noisy at outside seating, weather permitting. Ample wine and food selections. Pleasant service. Near the Forrest Theatre and Jefferson Hospital if you happen to be visiting there.

Our first night in Philadelphia led us to this pub. The burgers were great and the atmosphere interesting. Prices were reasonable and service fine

This restaurant is average in decor, ambiance and food. It is a good place to get a meal but it's just not exceptional. The tables in front, nearest to the bar, are dark. The service was good and timely, the servers were friendly and helpful. The burgers were huge, almost enough for two meals. Everything was adequate.

We visited for dinner ahead of a show nearby. The food and service was very good despite packed conditions. Servers struggled to get though aisles since patrons were waiting tables and bar seats. They did the best they could.

In 4 days we went here twice. The wings were great, the service was very friendly, and the atmosphere is very charming. I would definitely return, if I were in Philly again!

Great old style decor, loads of draft beer choices, good service and quite simply the best wings - fried, good size and punchy sauce. This is a definite must for a good bar experience in Philly

Best bartenders in the city! The place is standard, great beer selection, standard bar food, but the bartenders are the greatest people! So sweet! Thanks for an entertaining evening!!

In town for a conference. A group of 12 of us made a reservation for dinner and drinks. Lots a great beer selections, too many to list. I wound up getting a couple of rounds of Troeg’s amber, but our party ranged from stouts to ciders. For food we all opted for more of the American bar food fare. Lots of fried options (I went with a fried appetizer sampler with wings, fried cheese, and potato skins). The wings were DELICIOUS- ample in size and a really good sauce. Not too hot, but enough kick to make your nose run a little bit. We had a great time, which is not only due to the food and beverages. Katie did a great job dealing with a raucous group of fun loving folks. She even took several pictures for us. I highly recommend Moriarty’s as a great pub spot.

Three dollar tap beer, delicious wings and great burgers. A recipe for success. College type bar filled with medical students . I ordered the Reuben which was quite good. Wife really enjoyed her burger. Reasonable prices, good service and good food. A keeper.

Great bartender with excellent service! We sat at the bar and had drinks for a few hours. Ordered cheese sticks and they were goood!

My Favorite Wings in World!!! And I've tried many! Always perfecto and I never miss opportunity of visiting! I've been many times!

Had lunch here the other day and it was very good. The chicken noodle soup was very good, the Philly cheesesteak ok...just meat and bread. The side salad fine. The ambiance is that of a pub, which is what you want in a pub. The service was friendly and attentive.

There is a special place in my heart for Irish pubs. I love them. And Moriartys is one of the best. It’s convenient to everything, the bartenders are always some of the best in the business, and like any Irish pub, you can still get drunk for under $40 a person. BUT, there is no magners on tap (unacceptable for a real Irish pub) and the food is over priced. And the fish and chips suck (shame on me for ordering them). Do I come here every time I show up In Philly? YES! Just make sure to sit at the bar and drink to your hearts content. There are way too many great food places close by to order anything but appetizers. Cheers!

While I've eaten here many times before, and always had a good meal, we only stopped for drinks after 8 on a Saturday. The downstairs bar was packed, and my first trip upstairs. Our server Erin was great, and as it was Kareoke night, I'm not sure how she kept her composure. The performers didn't disappoint either. They ALL needed to keep their day jobs, and I think some of the folks were there just for the laughs. Almost a week later, and I'm not sure my ears have recovered yet. It was fun, and I know I'll be back, but any night other than Kareoke.

Enjoyed the evening with good size portion of spicy curly fries out on the sidewalk as busy peoplewatching. Irish coffee needded sweetning, but asking this was of course not a problem!

Just stopped in for a quick afternoon lunch and as always the food was great. Soup and salad that I ordered was yummy. Moriarty's is a regular stop for us especially after we go to the theater. Dinners are also very good. Highly recommend.

This place has been a go to for us for a while. Always had great food. I usually get a Ruben when I go, and wasn't ever disappointed until today. The menu must have changed because the sandwich was no longer a regular a regular sandwich, but open faced...ok. The bread wasn’t toasted, the corned beef was mediocre and there was so much thousand island dressing on it that it over powered all the other tastes and made the sandwich sweet. My husband’s burger was dry and over cooked. Not sure I’ll be back...which is a shame because this was a favorite of ours.

Food was decent, staff was good. Restaurant was amazing inside. Lots to see, we will try it again to see if the food improves.. the atmosphere was awesome.

Stopped in for lunch on Labor Day after the first 2-3 places we walked to were closed that Monday. Sat inside next to one of their big open windows which was nice. I got the salmon BLT which was really good! I wanted to try an irish dish but they didnt have as many options listed for lunch as they did for dinner. Not much of a beer drinker myself but my friends dining with me liked theirs.

This pub is right in the middle of Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Hospital campuses and it is quite charming. Great beer selection. Staff were courteous.

It's located in the centre city of Philadelphia...I had a great burger there...friendly staff...good service...I like it...it's highly recommended

We found this by accident while walking around town looking for a place to eat. It was very busy but we waited about 20-25 minutes for our table. Things are very cramped and close together and loud, but it adds to the atmosphere. We got the wing appetizer because everyone we talked to there said to try them. They did not disappoint. There is one flavor, a buffalo of sorts, but not too hot. They are the whole wing which makes the serving huge. A great deal for about $10. I got a Reuben and my husband got a burger. My sandwich was good, served open faced, but not the best I've had. It could use some more sauerkraut for my tastes. The corned beef was good and flavorful. My husband seemed happy with his burger and we both agreed the fries were the best part. They have a very long bar but we did not spend any time near there. I would say this is most likely a great place for a casual meal with friends. I would not recommend for small children, at least for dinner.

The food was really good and they had a nice selection of "Irish Food". Very nicely decorated and great staff.

Huge beer and cider selection, and the food is delicious! We had the reuben and blue cheese burger, they were fantastic.

It had been some time since I visited one of my favorite establishments, but yet it felt like it was just yesterday. A warm welcome from my favorite bartender ever. And always on top of her game, brought over my usual adult beverage without blinking an eye. That's what I like best about Morts...you aren't just a patron...you're like family. Always happy to see you and always welcome when you stop by!!! And hands down, they have the BEST wings in all of Philly!!! 🍴🍗🍻🍗‼️

We stopped in on a Monday night about 9:00pm for a beer and some tv. We sat down at the bar, where we were completely ignored for about ten minutes, even though two wait staff people were nearby several times. We got up and left. Don't bother!

Visited the place last week with a bunch of colleagues. Had their wings with their special blue cheese dips. They were pretty good their helping size was humongous.

The night before, we tried and loved the Irish Pub across the street. Decided to try Moriarty's also. I had the bangers and mash, my wife had the quiche. Both were excellent. Service was good. Since we are seniors, we are not as interested in the bar social scene as we used to be. It is a very popular place and was very crowded. We were crammed into a small table against the wall with high stools across bar. Between this and the Irish Pub across the street we preferred the other.

I've been to Moriarty's a few times. I like the atmosphere and usually the food. However, the last time I was there I was disappointed. I ordered the Sherpard's Pie which I thought was a touch pricey at 16 dollars, but got it anyway. When it arrived it was small and pretty much all potato. I find Fergies around the corner to have a much better Sherpard's pie and a much better price. I also thought that staff seemed disinterested in being there. It took a while for us to be seated, and the hostess seemed like we were inconveniencing her when we asked to be seated. The waitress we had also didn't seem like she wanted to be there. We walked in around 8 pm so it was not like the kitchen was closing . I'll give it another shot because I want to like this place

Food was great! Loved the Reubens! Great beer choices! My apple martini was delicious!Atmosphere was very eclectic! Can't wait to go back and try the burgers!!!Place was packed but service was great!!!

Enjoyed the decor and "pub" atmosphere. Although they were crowded, the high back booths allowed us to have conversations. Service was okay - they don't seem to handle larger groups very well. Our group of four had very good service, the larger group near us was somewhat neglected. Wings, quesadillas, and cheese fries were good. Potato skins and shrimp and chips were just ok. Lots of drink choices! Good prices for dinner choices - @$10-$15.

We went here for dinner before seeing a show at the Forrest theatre (literally right next door). If you have your tickets and tell your server, this gets you 10% off your food bill! The pub was nicely decorated with a very friendly atmosphere. Our food was outstanding! Their buffalo wings are some of these best I've ever had. Their Ruben was definitely the best I've ever tasted! Burgers were a bit overcooked, but had great flavor. Fries were crispy and delicious. We even had dessert (house made Irish bread pudding) and plenty of drinks, including a few great beers and a pretty great selection of scotch! Wonderful pub.

very popular with locals, always excellent, ate excellent and unique burgers, huge choice of beers and whiskies, service not very fast but always friendly, I absolutely recommend

I met up with a group of friends here for dinner. It's a typical Irish pub setting. The servers are friendly and efficient and the food is decent. My one friend loves the wings here. What kind of freaked us all out is that we were sitting at a table with a picture of Robert E. Lee, a Confederate general who was an extreme racist and proponent of slavery. We lost our appetites, paid our bill and vowed never to go back to this place again. It's scary to find this type of place in downtown Philadelphia which is a melting pot of diversity.

This is a great pub in the heart of city center Philly. The decor is interesting and full of historical tidbits and photos, and cool relics. They have a great selection of beers and locally brewed ales. The food was very good. I would have given this place 5 stars if the service would have been better. The waitress was pleasant and friendly, but not very attentive, forgot to bring us a couple of things we asked for, and got our order messed up a bit. Despite that, she did a nice job of recommending a good beer, and I'd go back again.

We called here each evening during a trip to Philadelphia. The bar is really nice and the staff are really friendly. There is a beer on special each day for $3 or even less. Would highly recommend.

Stopped here from recommendation from our hotel. Dinner options after 5 sounded great but was there earlier. We got the corned beef sandwiches and fries. Great fries and decent sandwich reasonably priced.bonly complaint is it is very loud.

Had dinner Saturday of St. Pat's weekend. Very busy, noisy expected but disappointed in service and food. Not sure if would return.

Moriarty's - Nice Pub, Great for Groups Our class had a party here. This is nice place with multiple floors. The beer and service was very good. I like the decor and bathrooms were decent for a Friday night. The food was surprisingly well done for pub and part of buffet. It refeshing to to get value in places downtown that do the minimum and charge a premium.

Great place to visit and best customer service! Katie was an incredible bartender! Highly recommend! Good selection of drafts!

Great place, great food, great staff. You won't regret a visit to this Philadelphia staple. Harry at the bar is what Philadelphia is all about.

I was optimistic when we entered since so much attention had been paid to decorating according to the Irish pub theme. There's an extensive beer menu, and the food menu has typical pub fare. My husband ordered a blue cheeseburger which was a bit overcooked. On the server's advice I ordered their version of a French dip, which the menu claimed had thinly sliced roast beef. Nope, not even close. It was hard to bite into, although the horseradish was a nice touch. I thought our server had too many tables in too many different parts of the restaurant.

Love this place. Have been there several times when visiting Philadelphia. Great service and food. Get the wings! Also lots of beers on tap. A friendly inviting pub.

A friend and I stopped in before the NFC Title Game. We weren't entirely sure how we'd be welcomed since Philly has a reputation for not going easy on fans of the opposing team, but the staff was fantastic! They couldn't have been nicer and, honestly, incredibly knowledgeable about football. The prices on beers were good, and the food was pretty good too. I thought the portions were excellent!

Wonderful atmosphere, great staff and really tasty food! We had the wings, which were delicious, and curly fries. I would recommend both, though the wings were not the best I've ever had (they are advertised as Philly's best). Large selection of various beers, and the decorations give the place an authentic vibe.

Popped in here last weekend because the guys wanted a beer.. Ended up staying for a few hours. Sizeable beer selection. Our waitress was underage and couldn't answer my questions or give suggestions but the restaurant offers a sample size (about 2oz I think) for a couple bucks. We split an order of the wings. Really good! HUGE wings and a tasty classic buffalo sauce. Good bleu cheese, too.

We like eating at Irish pubs so when we found this on our first day, why not. The atmosphere was so cool and we just looking around the whole time. Service was great! When our food came out, there was nothing wrong with it, but it just looked alright. However, one bite changed our munds....it tasted wonderful!

My date and I really enjoyed our quick bite before theatre, I had really great Nachos which was way too much for one. Server advised most people share a platter. We sat outside on a lovely Fall evening. Most enjoyable people watching. 20% discount for Walnut subscribers.

Moriarty's gives a great discount for Walnut Street Theatre subscribers (20%, show your subscriber card) or 15% for those with tickets to see a show. It's best to reserve ahead so that you are not sitting next to the noisy bar and to make sure that you can be seated. The menu is a classic pub menu, reasonable in price, with ample portions. This time our service was not as good as usual; probably a new server who forgot some items and served my coffee without a spoon. Most meals are in the $12-$20 range. Salads are huge, so they can easily be shared. Desserts are very good too - we love the chocolate mousse.

We were excited to try this Irish pub after visiting Thomas Jefferson U with our daughter. Atmosphere was festive and beer menu pretty good. But the food.... when the best part about the meal is the French fries, you know you're in trouble. Beef on the cheesesteaks and ale house sandwich was dry. Fish and chips were just ok. Fun for a drink but don't expect much for a sandwich.

On a business trip to Philly, Found on trip adviser. Met a friend/business associate from Houston halfway between our two hotels at this great little place with a terrific vibe. Mackenzie made us feel like friends as soon as we sat down. Biggest and maybe best wings I've ever had (one size, one sauce) and as good a cheesesteak as you'll find. Great beer menu and did I mention my old friend Mackenzie?

I have been to Moriarty's numerous times over the years. Great place to go to for lunch or dinner before a show or just walking around Philly. Great cheese steaks, chicken caesar salad and Paddy's potato skins. Always enjoyable even when extremely crowded.

The staff were extremely friendly. I overheard the bartender say that it is a family run business and has been there for 50 years. The inside is really clean and comfortable. We went there three times over the weekend and it was always busy. I didn't see anyone complaining about the service, and I do tend to pay attention. We did not order food, but sat at the bar. The bartenders were very attentive and friendly. There was a nice age mix in there too. There were obviously some college students, who were very respectful. And there were people more our age, 40s. There was a pub crawl going on in Philly, being the weekend before the big St Patty's day events. Moriarty's chose not to participate and that was a really good decision. They have a lot of respect for their regulars and for the type of people they cater to, and that group is not loud and obnoxious drunks, in my brief experience.

On July 4th of this year my family and I stopped here for dinner after walking around Philadelphia. The food was average nothing special. Service was good. We got their wings after our waitress recommended them. They were good. Not to hot. Alot of different beers available. My teen son ordered their bacon burger and only got 1 1/2 pieces of bacon on it. Would go back unless it was just to have a beer and bar food.

It’s Saint Patrick’s Day and we honored our patron saint properly by having corned-beef & cabbage with a Guinness. It was my 1st sips of an alcoholic beverage since my surgical procedure last November/2017 also, everything went well... Today, there was a cover charge & a stamp, to pay all the girls, who preformed the Celtic dances. We went to the second floor bar, where there’s a fireplace. First, the young lady seated us next to the fire (table for 2), in the corner, sort of crammed, with plenty of room in the establishment. So, being the man who don’t tolerate that kinda treatment..... I moved our good time to a bigger table and let the good times roll (Kawasaki). I owned a 1981 KZ 440 LTD, that paid for my LSU undergraduate tuition, in full, (motorcycle crash, not my fault). I had the corned-beef/cabbage sandwich with crispy fries & Leslie had their stuffed Irish potato skins. Both were excellent. I had a Mardi Gras party coat, that I’ve heard ladies say “it’s Joseph & the amazing technicolor coat.” Everytime I wore it, a party started! Keep partying, those taillights ahead are mine! TW

Very cool pub! $3 draft beers (30 to chose from) from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Santa Fe burger - highly recommend! Enjoyed the set up inside - great decor. Fish & Chips also a big thumbs up!

Moriarty's Pub was recommended to us from our concierge at the hotel, and we were not disappointed. Great food (HUGE wings!) with lots to eat and not a huge price tag attached. Great service as well, and very comfortable.

Decor is very reflective of a traditional Irish pub, but beer on tap is far from the end of the rainbow; flat and lines are clearly not cleaned which is why there is no carbonation in your glass. Food experience was par; not spectacular nor unacceptable

Great service , fantastic choice of beers and food . Frances the waitress was really attentive , constantly looking after everyone and social

We eat at Moriarty's at least twice a year when we have theater tickets at the Walnut Street Theater because they give us a 20% discount. Dinner is almost always crowded and the dining room on the first floor very noisy so conversation is difficult. We once were able to eat on the second floor where it was much quieter and more pleasant. I always order the Shepherd's Pie, but recently it has been very dry with almost no gravy. My other dinner companions order such items as the French dip, salmon and turkey club and they have been more satisfied. Recently two of them ordered the New England Clam Chowder which was very thin.

Moriarty's is an above average stop for lunch and a drink if you are in the neighborhood. An easy walk from the Convention Center, we were there the day after St. Patrick's Day. It's a little loud as we were seated near the bar during March Madness, but not overwhelming and I imagine the seats in the back were much quieter had we requested one. Extensive beer menu - especially bottles from all over. I had a St. Patrick's special - Bangers and Mash. Those were the creamiest mashed potatoes ever!!

I ordered a Shepard's pie. I figured an Irish put would be a good place to order that meal, and I was right. They also have a large variety of beer on tap. The place has good ambiance, too, like an Irish pub filled with yuppies. The waitresses were efficient, polite, friendly and not ugly. I would definitely consider going there again if I ever return to that Philadelphia neighborhood.

This pub had a gazillion beers and Irish whiskeys. The inside of the pub was beautiful! Tin stamped ceilings, chandeliers, polished wood bar backs, etc. You shouldn't miss it!!

We had just finished our delicious French Onion soup when woman next to us spilled her wine and splashed all over me, the staff went above and beyond getting me towel and seltzer and one gal partially hugged me as I was ready to cry. Management comped part of our meal and they didn't have to it surely wasn't their fault. Burgers were awesome too, but how they helped with a really bad moment was the BEST customer service !

This place has been around forever it seems. It's old, very local, very cozy and a warm spot for anyone. Too many draft beer choices (not really) long menu with local and pub grub galore. Excellent food quality and service. Too long between visits. Gotta find a way back to Philly to get in here again

Good beers. Best potato soup I’ve ever had. It was delicious! Service was a bit slow but it was busy evening. I enjoyed visiting and recommend.

5 of us walked down to Walnut Street- having tired of our "museum legs" from the annual Flower Show. Two of my friends suggested this pub, having eaten here many times. It was a little after noon, and we waited at the bar for about 10 minutes and nursed beers until our table was ready. Decent pub grub (I'm not a wing guy, but everyone else raved about them). I had a turkey club and some chips. Just about what you'd expect at an Irish pub. The reason Moriarity's set itself apart was the service. Our server, Amber, was fantastic. Any time I hear that a server was rude or inattentive, I have to ask about the attitude of the diners, not the server. If you're convivial and respectful to a server, you'll almost always get good service. That said, I take most service issues with a grain of salt. The worse the service is "presented" in a review, the worse I imagine the diners were: rude, dismissive and demanding. Amber was a pearl. Next time I'm at Moriarity's, I'm requesting her! I'll definitely be back! Brava Amber!

I've lived here for 9 years and stumbled upon this place once with a friend. Moriarty's is named the #1 wing spot for the past few years and there's a reason why. Their wings are AMAZING. They're quite large, and you get 7-8 of them with carrots and celery, and they're cheap! The rest of their menu is quite good too. They surprisingly have a good Mexican selection for being an Irish pub lol. I don't drink, but my friends always seem to enjoy their drink selection as well. They can get quite busy on the weekends and during football season so be prepared to wait. They also do karaoke on Friday nights! I seriously love this place so much, so check it out when you're in town!

Good prices for Happy Hour- great service in a great atmosphere. Very crowded after 5:00 p.m.- Had a salad one night for dinner and it was good but beyond that only had drinks here. More time in Philly I would have eaten more meals here.

2nd visit here. 1st time ate outside Today we ate inside. Both times the food was very tasty and the pricing is very fair. Definitely a place that we will go to when downtown again.

Good place to eat if you want a quick bite before going to the theater. It is mostly the type of food found at any bar/pub.

Popped in for a quick drink as the rain started, stayed for a few more! Excellent happy hour, really good barman, friendly locals. Great night. Would definitely recommend!

This is a terrific place to go and eat if you are seeing a show at the Forrest Theatre. It’s right beside the theatre, the service is fast and friendly and the food is decent. Can be crowded and a little noisy but definitely somewhere to check out!

Moriarity's has become a staple for our group whether we come to Philadelphia for the day or overnight. Highly spirited and friendly bartenders, great beer choices and the wings are the bomb. Looking forward to my next visit!

We were here for an early dinner, the chicken wings were HUGE, and so were the curly fries. After seeing their extensive bourbon menu we decided that a liquid dinner might be better.... After many shots we had desserts - which sadly no ones ever reviewed..., but my friends, PLEASE order the peanut butter cake and the bread pudding.... they were the best desserts I've had in a REALLY long time.... The decor and atmosphere were really nice and the service, warm and attentive. Makes me want to live in Philly.

This place is very central in Philly many nice dinning places in proximity. They have a wide range of beers but the food they have was mediocre. The service is also average or a bit below average. Pretty crowded by people drinking and atmosphere is nice. My goal was to grab something small and was seriously disappointed. Saw many good comments but reality was different. I do not recommend potato skins or wings.

Typical irish pub with nice long bar. Good beer selection. Fish and chips was good. Service friendly.

Stopped in to watch a game and have dinner. Wings are Great, pretzels are also very good. Pulled pork sandwich, Burgers and Wedge Salad all spot on. Lava cake was good. Bread pudding was dry and waiters Jill took it off of our bill. Jill was a great server and pointed us in the right direction. It was so good we went back 2x. Great atmosphere.

Good pub food. Good service. Pleasant surroundings. Sports friendly. Seems authentic! Staff is friendly and tourists as well as locals welcomed

Huge selection of beers from all over the world. I don't think that any beer lover can't find something for his tasty buds. nice bar atmosphere and nice people. there is an upstairs room for mainly younger crowd with karaoke and a lot of fun. Food is typical bar fair along with the quality but you are coming here for beer and fun not so much for food. Service very friendly and quick considering that is a busy place.

Our group was seated outside, which initially seemed fine. Except that one side of the table sits with their backs against a one-lane street that some cars drive down too quickly. Depending on the size of the vehicle, we occasionally had to lean forward to keep our heads from being knocked off. The inside looked nice and the food was OK. A little on the expensive side. But clearly a lot of money goes into the decor. It's your typical Irish pub except for one thing. Part of their menu is "south of Ireland", and it's Mexican food. Which I was not expecting.

this was our third trip to philly and back to this restaurant and all 3 of us were very happy with our meals. great food great service -- ask for Micah! we didnt have to wait for service or food great price

Stopped in for dinner after watching the early evening New Year's Eve fireworks down by the Delaware river. The Pub has a nice vibe and is pretty colorfully decorated. But, mainly, the food was good. We shared an order of the Chicken Wings and individually had: Fish n' Chips, Fish/Shrimp Combo, Sante Fe Burger, and the Moriarty Club (1/2 of which came home) and they were all delicious.

Our first night out in Philadelphia we wanted to go casual and I as usual wanted a good PA beer. Asked at the front desk of the Alexander Inn, where we were staying, and were told of this Irish Pub that was within walking distance. What a great suggestion! Our waitress Cecilia mentioned they are know for their chicken wings so.... I ordered them with a Bellcracker beer....both were delicious! My wife had the chicken quesadillas and and a ginger ale, she liked them! I finished up with another IPA and we had a nice walk back to the hotel. Total before tip = $37.96.

Cider on Tap-and a “Java” burger-what more could a girl ask for? Fun to look at all the whiskey pitchers all over the tin ceilings. Rumored to have great wings-but the AusJus Beef took it away!

The family walked right in and got a seat. Food was order. Drinks came right out. The cheese BLT was perfect size and delicious. The fish and chips were good. The proportions were smaller than I expected but I left content not stuffed. They have a decent beer selection.

Nice atmosphere, standard irish pub food, well executed. Great beer selection. Had a good, attentive waitress, which made a huge difference. When we were there the windows to the outside were open, nice breeze even in summer.

Okayish little pub with a good selection of beers but serving beers in plastic cups which are slightly smaller than a pint. Why?

We had been out playing tourist all day and needed a beer! 4 of us had dinner, plus 2 sodas and 3 adult beverages for about $75 without tip. Atmosphere very "pub" like and cozy. Although outdoor seating was available and looked lovely, we choose to dine inside because of the AC. Wait staff was friendly and prompt.

This is just a pub. Good at being a pub but I got excited about the name and thought there would be more of a Sherlock/British theme it but I didn't find that to be the case. However, they do have good beer and booze with a decent staff so no complaints there. Not sure if they have food since it was late at night when I was there.

Stopped in for lunch with family after seeing a show at the Walnut St Theater. Broad menu with all the basic appetizers, sandwiches, and platters. My son and I hd burgers which came with fries or a side salad. My wife got a grilled chicken sandwich. Our waitress was friendly and provided good service. Food came out hot and our glasses were kept filled. Would definitely go back

Old fashioned Irish Bar with great wings and beer selection. Very friendly staff. I only get the wings. Never got any other food from here.

There was a lot about this pub that made me feel like we were back in Ireland - the food, the proximity of other tables, the way that it felt noisy without making it difficult to have a conversation, the appearance of the bar. That all made it a fun place to eat. Plus the food was pretty good. The corned beef and cabbage was not a very generous portion, but the flavor was fairly good. I liked the place, but was more impressed with the atmosphere than the food. They did have a good selection of craft beers though.

Loved this place from the minute we walked in! The decor is cozy pub style, drinks are cheap and OMG the food is outstanding. Service was amazing, our server was so personable and knowledgeable about the city! We will definitely be returning!!

Great atmosphere, nice decor.Spacious booths. Ordered food who was served very quickly, good selection of beer.

Their traditional Irish dishes are only available after 5 pm. We chose the soft pretzel appetizer which was heated in a microwave so it was tough and didn’t seem to have been made on site. The Reuben was open face and decent. We aren’t beer drinkers but they have a large selection. So it depends on your taste.

We ordered bubbles&swanky margaritas drinks, and to eat caesar salad with salmon, philly cheese steak, loaded quesadilla, street tacos and french onion. We all liked our food, but the best thing was the festive atmosphere of the weekend, the good vibes felt in the people who filled the place. Friendly and fast attention without being intrusive. American and Philly food in particular, typical, nothing sophisticated, but very delicious. Highly recommended for a night of conversation and good atmosphere. We will be back!

Met some friends for dinner and drinks. The beer list is great and the food very good. The wings are non-traditional; they are the entire wing! I ordered 10, and effectively got 20. Very tasty, great service, and great atmosphere. It's a great place to visit in downtown Philly.

Accommodated is really fast and the food was fantastic. Shepherd’s Pie was the best I have had outside of Ireland. Will definitely go back.

Great place for an informal celebration. We called a few days in advance for a party of 9. Not easy to accommodate but they saved us a place by the front door. The service was excellent, the food was very good (burgers, salads, fries, etc). Reasonably priced.

Good, not great, corned beef special, but sized for one person to eat. Fish and chips were also good, but nothing spectacular. Tough to read the menu on a cloudy day, but a friendly local feel.

Good stop on Walnut st. For after theatre or just pub. Solid Pub food. We enjoyed salad and soup. The mexican dish was surprisingly good. We don't drink but the beer selection is large. Friendly service. It has been around for years.

It was obvious when we walked in that this is a local favorite for hanging out and it’s easy to understand why. They have a nice selection of Irish beers on tap and a traditional food menu celebrating the Irish cuisine. The space is a lot of fun and our server was very pleasant and attentive. My husband had the Shepard’s Pie and I had a cup of the potato soup and a salad. The Shepard’s Pie and soup were delicious but the salad was nothing too exciting. This was our last stop of the day before heading home and if we hadn’t been so tired, but probably would have stayed for another drink after dinner. We would definitely go back.

We are visiting Phili from Canada, there was a group of 12 of us. Our only request prior to ordering anything was - we would like the bills split out by couple and we would like to watch the World Hockey Tournament on ESPN. Canada was playing against the US. No problem the hostess Jess said and our waitress Katie. We had to split into 2 tables which we understood with being so many, we also had 2 waitresses. We had full intentions of staying there all night to watch the hockey game. Ordered drinks and some appetizers and started to enjoy the night. I think one of the managers comes over to talk to us, all is good. While he was there I accidently spill about 3/4 a pint of a beer on the table, beer pretty much everywhere. This manager guy walks away, does not offer to get a towel or something to help with the spill. He disappears into the kitchen. I walk over to the bar to get napkins to clean up. One of the girls at our table walks over to grab a plastic bin for dirty dishes for all the soaked napkins and we are in the middle of clean the mess up. Katie tells the girl we should not be using the plastic bin it is meant for dishes .....really? Now we get our food and it is very good. Probably the best wings I have had in a long time. At this time the hockey game is on 2 TV's which based on how people were sitting on the 2 tables was perfect. We eat dinner, everyone is enjoying themselves, then they change the one of the TV's to a baseball game and would not put the hockey game back on. So our original request for the hockey game was denied... isn't it funny they changed it after we get food and our money. With the issue will the spilled beer and the TV... I told the hostess we are getting the f&*k out of here. Now we ask for the bills to be split out and our waitress Katie was very difficult with splitting out as people were paying cash and credit cards. As it turns out, Katie would not allow us to apply different amounts on each persons credit card where as the other waitress dealing with the other table did allow this. Food was great, service was terrible !

I have been here multiple occasions and it never disappoints. The wings are top notch. Spinach artichoke dip is the best. French onion soup so good. Delicious burgers. Fish and chips are da bomb. A must go.

Lunch in Philadelphia while on a visit to historical sites with my grandson & other family. Wings are always great here & pretty much twice the size of other places. Burger was very good as well. Nice atmosphere, friendly & knowledgeable staff. Always a pleasure eating here!

Good food and good food. The fried shrimp and chips were excellent. Chicken wings were super large and meaty. The sauce was hot. Fish and chips I was told was excellent and nice size piece of fish.

Stopped in after a referral from our hotel. Great bar atmosphere, but a little loud. The aroma of wings permeated the air begging me to try them. Although enormous in size and tasty once you burned your fingers trying to tear them apart, they left me perplexed. Baked, then flash fried, they were not crisp in the least. May be a Philly thing.

Really disappointed. We chose this place one evening and wish we’d never gone. Arriving at about 7pm, we placed our orders and then told 5 minutes later that they’d run out of mashed potatoes!! How’s that possible so early on? So no potatoes on site which could be mashed??Husband was desperate for a good steak, once it arrived and he started eating it, discovered it was Pork. We mentioned this to our server, who was lovely, who then got the manager / supervisor (not sure which as there was no introduction or explanation) No apology whatsoever, more argued with what my husband was saying. How can you mistake those two meats? And he knows his meat! They did make another meal, which was steak eventually. My suspicion is that they tried to disguise a cheaper meat by smothering it in sauce hoping no one would notice. Shockingly bad. Would definitely suggest you avoid this place.

We had lunch here on a Sunday. The atmosphere was really good with groups at each of the tables, just families and friends enjoying lunch. The food came promptly, and was typical pub food, but cooked well and really tasty. The quantity was just right. This was just what we were looking for.

The bar was a block away from my hotel and bar food is most of the time very good. I had to try a famous Philly steak sandwich with peppers and mushrooms. Very good flavor. With fries and beer, $20. Server was great.

Lucky us to land at charming Moriarty's on Wednesday night when live authentic Irish melodies greet you a the door! With walls covered with historic poster & mementos everywhere, the classic old bar is inviting; & the wooden booths private & cozy. Service couldn't be friendlier & thick burgers with fries hit the spot. Now we're looking forward to St. Patrick's Day at our new favorite pub!

Touristing for first time in Philadelphia and looked for a place after walking around with our kids. The food was okay and prices were reasonable. Beer list was awesome. Wished the kids weren't around so we could have stayed to try more. Would recommend for grownup snot so much for under 15.

I really wanted a good burger so we went to TripAdvisor to look for some recommendations close to our hotel. We went to Moriarty's and I was encouraged because the bar area downstairs looked like a fun environment and people were having a good time. We were seated upstairs where there was next to no activity. Normally this wouldn't have been an issue but it was not what we were looking for tonight. We ordered the Nachos Supreme, Mushroom Burger, and wings. All of the food was good....except for the burger that we specifically went there for. It was so well done that I think it was cooking for the entire hour it took to come out to our table. We won't be back and we won't be recommending it to family and friends visiting Philly.

I needed a local during a fortnight stay in Philly for a couple of beers. Moriarty's delivered. Excellent selection of beers and decent pub grub. I particularly enjoyed the Yards Pale Ale and fish and chips. Most nights it was busy, but with a short wait, tables were available. Plenty of seats along the bar if only a drink is required. Friendly staff and service great.

If you're a fan of wings, this is the only place to go. They are huge and cooked perfectly with the best sauce you've ever had. I could eat them every week. They also have great burgers and the beer selection is decent as well. Recommend an off-time visit as when they get going the place is so busy you can't hear a thing, can't move to read the menu or eat without bumping someone and if you need the facilities you're going to have to struggle.

We sat out on the pavement for a meal on a lovely warm evening and had a very enjoyable meal. Service was a little slow because it was really busy but the waiters were working hard to keep up so no criticism of them.

We had a quick dinner here one night. Average meal except for the Spinach Dip appetizer which was the absolute best we have every tasted!!

We went here for one drink and ended up spending the evening here . Really great bar , Harry the bartender was excellent , really friendly and played such good music . Lovely laid back atmosphere and chatty friendly staff . The food looked great . Highly recommend

With outdoor and indoor seating you can be right next door to the Forrest Theatre. The old style Irish pub offers some traditional favorites like corned beef, and also a good local cheesesteak. The is a wide variety of Celtic beers as well as a full service bar. But my favorite is Guinness. I had corned beef sandwich which was very good. I wish I had asked her it to be warm. Not fatty either. My friends had the sliced beef(delicious) and club which was good as well. Our service was very good. We arrived at 5:50 without a reservation and were seated in my opinion the best place, the window. So make a reservation if in this part of tow for a show.

This place draws a pretty good crowd, and rightfully so. Great beer selection, decent food, and the wait staff if pleasant and efficient.

Drinks were fine but customer service and ability to answer questions by staff was awful. We visited from Orlando and most of the restaurants in Philly did a much better job of hosting out of towners. Also, I left my jacket on the seat and either someone took it or they kept it but either way not a good representation of what we consider to be a good time on our vacation.

It was a very hot day in Philly and we were able to escape the heat and dip into Moriarty's for a great drink. Atmosphere was cozy and friendly.

A cozy atmosphere with yummy food, great beer prices and terrific service. Our server, Cas was friendly and attentive, even tho the place was hopping! We were up for cheese steaks and were very happy! And $3 pint prices! A win win!!

Friend of mine took me to this place and it was exceed my expectation. I had great food, drink and great music. The place was tight inside but it was fenomenal.

We popped in to Moriarty's for lunch before our matinee showing at the Walnut Street Theater. The pub was decorated like you would expect a pub to be decorated. I loved looking around at all the little pitchers (pints?) hanging around. Our meal consisted of a Reuben and the quiche/soup combo. We were both pleased with our meals. The service was prompt and friendly. We even received a discount on our meal for showing our theater tickets (which offered 15%off dinner). It was a nice place to grab a well priced meal.

Great location right beside the Theatre...was fortunate enough to have tickets to see Hamilton while visiting Philadelphia and we couldn’t have asked for anything more convenient. Food was good (typical pub style menu) as was the service which was friendly and efficient. Seating was a little “cramped” and with the number of patrons the sound level was loud...not the place to go if you are looking for a quiet spot to relax and talk but for what we wanted it was perfect.

Two simple items make this a five star review. Moriarty's has the best wings in Philly. Moriarty's also pulls some of the best Guinness draft in Philly. Those two reasons alone make a visit to this Irish pub worth it. Other food is very good, but don't skip the wings. The joint is always hopping, and sitting outside on a nice day can't be beat.

We've been to Moriarty's many times. This visit all 4 of us ordered the open faced reuben. They were deliicious but 1 sandwich was significantly smaller. We were disappointed in the pub's solution (wait at least 15 min. for new one)...since the rest of us were already half way through our meal. The service was fair this visit, as well...

Friday night in Philadelphia can be intimidating at best to find somewhere to eat. Especially if you don't have reservations. A 40 minute wait can turn into 90+, so you're left scrambling for somewhere else to eat because you don't want to wait until 10pm to eat. Luckily this happened, or else my friend and I wouldn't have stumbled into Moriarty's Pub. We had a party of two, so luckily we were able to be seated right away. The special of the night was cheese fries, and who in their right mind is going to pass up cheese fries at a special price? People I don't want to eat with. That's who. The cheese fries were delicious, the drinks and cocktails perfectly served and mixed, and the regular food was better than your average pub. I highly recommend the French Dip. The au jus was so well seasoned, if I wasn't afraid of death from sodium overdose, I would have drank the entire cup of it. The atmosphere of Moriarty's is just what you'd expect from an Irish pub. Sure it can be a little loud, but it comes with the territory. Just look for the blue building in the busy Walnut corridor, and you won't be disappointed.

Good atmosphere with average pub food. Service was very good. Our meals were turned around quickly and we enjoyed the wide selection of beers.

Pub is really nice good selection of beers, but god forbidden stay away from the food, the most disappointing burger in all philly we had some chicken wings, were horrible too! Anything way too salty, and on top of everything else below zero air conditioning. Don’t think I’ll ever go back.

I go here every chance I get. One of the few spots in the city for a proper Guinness, but also a great selection of standards and really solid rotating taps. Food is also quite good. The wings are by far the best in the city and the portions is amazing. Also try the spicy chicken sandwich or the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls to switch it up. Great service and a long traditional bar. A can’t miss if you are in the city and want a great place to sit and have some good food and a few pints.

Awesome staff - interesting patrons. Great prices and happy hour. We ventured in for a quick beer and stayed for ...... many more. Early on the crowd was young (early 20’s) and as the nigh went on the crowd got older. Servers were some of the best I’ve had at any bar - friendly, fast and entertaining. Will come back next time I’m in Philly
Beer and Wings
They offer a menu of 150 different beers and food. The wings have been voted best in Philadelphia numerous times and they deserve it.
