Pad Thai and a vegetable dish. Delivered quickly to my hotel. And delivered hot. And delicious. Great job!

My first time here. I just loved it!! Food is authentic and delicious, service is fast and efficient. Will come back more...

Needed some good honest food with no frills. This was perfect. It was cheap the quality was top notch. For me on my own as an English man I found the portion size was over the top and unnecessary. May be more suited to the American clientele. The place is tiny so it may be worth booking. I would recommend this place all day long.

I was staying near MD Anderson Cancer Center for 6 months due to stem cell transplant. It was by far my favorite restaurant. The food is varied and well presented. All the veggies were fresh and tasty. I had to have my food cooked a special way due to the medical issues, and the staff were very happy to comply. I often got take-out. Sometimes I would just eat lunch there, either alone or with a friend. It's a nice friendly atmosphere, and I would go back any time.

Wow, this was really not good- could they have sold to new owners? I've never had Thai in Houston, but I can't imagine that, with all of the great Vietnamese food here, the Thai food wouldn't also generally be of high quality. Would not go back.

Context: Dining from out of state with family on a Saturday evening; restaurant busy but not crowded. Pros: Great range of food choices; one in our party ordered the pineapple chicken fried rice and it was the best that I have ever eaten. The rice tasted grilled and there was a great cross section of ingredients, including: tomato, pineapple, raisins, on ion and cashew nut. Great flavor - outstanding choice. I ordered the Pad Pet, and it also was a good choice, with shrimp, chili paste, basil leaves, kafir lime leaves, green beans, bell pepper, onion, bamboo shoots and eggplant . Cons: prices slightly higher than I am used to for Thai, but fair Dining tips: Their two star spicy items are, SPICY! You may want to go down a notch. Comment: Strongly recommended!

Stopped in here for dinner with my mom. We had Baby Egg Rolls as an appetizer. I ordered the Yellow Curry w/ chicken and my mom got the Pineapple Curry w/ chicken. Everything was amazing! The restaurant is small but very classy. The service was top notch. It's highly underrated on this site.

The food and the service was excellent. The portions were large and the atmosphere pleasant. I could hear many oohs and ahhs from the other diners.

We have a new Garmin Gps that has a restaurant finding feature on it. Like all Gps directions, sometimes it's good, sometimes not. We almost passed it by, but luckily we made a u-turn and went back! We were in town for a convention, so we were on a very limited time schedule. We got there at 2:30 pm, just as they were closing after lunch. They very graciously let us stay, but we had to order in a hurry. It didn't take long to order the combination appetizer tray and two entrees, and it wasn't long before they brought them to the table. we could have made a meal of just the appetizers - all were excellent. We are basil freaks, and both of us ordered dishes featuring that herb. Both were outstanding, but yes, could have used a little more basil. My husband ordered 4 star heat for his and was not disappointed. It had lots of pepper! I was spooning some of his sauce over mine since he had plenty. They offered us dessert, but we felt like we had imposed enough and packed up enough left overs to have another meal. The service and food were wonderful. Wish we would have had time for some sticky rice.

Food is still tasty, though! I will keep coming back for the service and the food. This is still one of my favorite Thai restaurants.

Small, quaint restaurant. The place was not too crowded. Able to get seat immediately. Good tasteful food. Able to accommodate vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. Good service though a little service Will revisit next time we are in town

Love the food very different spices used so taste buds were enjoying every bite. The service was excellent very friendly. It's a small but very clean restaurant. It was a joy to enjoy the food and the friendly service.

Have been going here since 2018 on our annual visit to Houston for medical reasons. Have always found Morningside Thai an exceptional restaurant. Was there on 10-6-2022 and something has obviously changed. The aromas of Thai cuisine no longer permeated the air. The spring rolls were tough and filled with odd non traditional ingredients. The Pad Thai tasted like it was cooked in a rusty wok, had a tinny metallic taste. They also lost their license to serve beer and I enjoyed a Singha when we were there in the past. Sorry folks the magic is gone.

I have eaten here for dinner and lunch. The lunch menu is wonderful and every special is served with a spring role and soup. I had the buttery garlic chicken and will differently have it again.

Went for my daughter's birthday in January. Have been going to this restaurant since one week after Ying, the owner and chef, took over. Every time we go the food is fantastic! Delicious! So much flavor! We had Thai Garlic sauce with Chicken, yellow curry, chicken friied rice, laab with chicken, and her famous chicken and rice soup! This is where my daughter choses to have her birthday dinner every year! We all love it! The staff is always very friendly as well, and if Ying has time she comes out to talk to her customers....which is always appreciated!

The new location is smaller, but the food and service are still very good. It is a great BYOB place.

This is the best Thai restaurant I have ever been to. I have eaten Thai food in many places, including Thailand, but this is the best. On the two occasions I have eaten there the food and service have been exemplary. Both my wife and I had excellent food on both visits and one cannot be failed to be charmed by the delightful staff and service. The restaurant is unlicensed so take your own wine or beer, which the staff will open and pour for you. I wish I lived closer so that I could visit more often. Prices are reasonable and our meals for two were between $25-$30.

We stopped here with a reservation. Excellent food! Green curry, sticky rice mango, coconut ice cream all very gooood.

Was staying at a nearby hotel and tried this restaurant for dinner. I had fried Tofu for an appetizer and Pad See Yoo entrée. Both were excellent. I was impressed with the Pad. A good amount of chicken and vegetables. Cooked well. Generous portion.

It's a very small place that's kind of hidden behind Kroger. There are only maybe 8 tables, but they are very courteous, quick, and delicious. There are also constantly delivery drivers coming in and out, so it seems like a lot of people have it delivered. I always get the Pad-Kee-Mow which is a tasty, spicy, typical Thai noodle dish. It's definitely enough to split with someone or have leftovers. You can tell them how spicy you want it.

The Chicken Phad Thai was fresh and delicious, as were the crispy spring rolls. I would give 5 stars, but I was hoping to see a little more veggies with the dish. It was served only with green onions and sprouts. Was hoping for carrots, cucumber, and most definitely cilantro. It was still delicious (outstanding flavor) and we will definitely be back. The restaurant itself is very clean, nicely set tables, soft music. The ice tea was also really good. Most importantly, the food was fresh and the staff was very friendly.

I love asian food and this is one of the best thai restaurants in Houston! Very friendly staff (after a couple of visits the waiter even memorized my favorite selections in the menu). Definitely a must for thai food lovers!

My wife is Thai and I have spent enough time in Thailand to appreciate good Thai food. This place delivers authentic very good Thai food. Please remember, virtually all ethnic buffet lunches, Thai, Indian, Mediterranean, or otherwise, do not get the personal attention that dinner entrees receive. If you want to experience this place at its best, order lunch or dinner from the menu and tell the very friendly server exactly what you want and how spicy. Ask them for suggestions. For dessert, their unique Thai tea ice cream is very good. If they are out, the sticky rice with custard is also good.

The restaurant might look old and shabby but their food tells a different story. I love Thai food and I have tried many thai restaurants in the Houston area and this is by far the best thai food in houston, in my opinion. I love to order the Tom Yum because they make it better here as well as the pad thai.

Good food and service and it's BYOB (for $3 corkage fee as I recall). Ambiance is OK. What could be better?

Start to finish was delicious. I had the red curry chicken. Other family member fried rice with chicken. It's a small place, but don't let the size or the location. It's a must-try if you like Thai!

I got take out at this restaurant and it was very good. My sister and brother in law ate in and thought the service was good and atmosphere was nice. I had the spring rolls and satay and they were great.

We were in town for a medical appointment. Let me start by saying our food was great. We showed up pretty close to lunch being over. We have never been more rushed to order. If they didn't want to stay open for us they should have just told us. Good thing we are familiar with Thai because we had about a minute to order. Overall, being rushed really disappointed us because we could have had a new favorite in Houston. We will try again at a better hour. The food is worth a second trip.

We ate here during a weekday lunch during one of our visits to Houston. The server did a great job, esp. packing a to-go order to take with us when we left. The wide rice noodle dish I had was excellent, esp. because the carrots and broccoli were NOT overcooked - they were PERFECTLY crisp tender but hot! Definitely this is on the list of places to revisit!

The Pad Thai dishis all about the sauce. This place has the best. Small restaurant with good service. All their dishes beats other Thai places.

Nice atmosphere, especially for a business lunch. I wasn't wild about the food, but my friends who love Thai really love this place.

Terrible service! I spent $160 on a to go order and he then wanted to charge me an extra $2 for fish sauce! He got the $2 but lost the $16 tip! Will not be back.

This converted home in the University neighborhood is understated but impressive. We enjoyed the Tom Yum Ghai soup. This is a hot and tasty soup with cilantro and slices of white meat chicken, mushrooms, and scallions in a spicy broth. The soft spring rolls came in a rice paper wrapper, with a honey, red pepper, ginger sauce. The daily special was Drew's Fish. This was a huge portion of lightly-breaded tilapia stir fried with red bell peppers, onions, green beans and mint in the house special spicy sauce. An amazing combination of flavors. Our second entree was Penang Curry. This item consisted of chicken breast slices, onions, and fresh green beans in a coconut based curry sauce. It was listed as medium spicy, but was mild. I was given some Thai hot sauce to escalate the heat. Everybody was very friendly here. Our server was Thai, and it seemed as if all the employees were of Thai extraction. I spotted several groups of Thai diners. That is a very positive indicator of quality Thai food. We were impressed with Morningside Thai, and want to bribe them to relocate to our town.

Wow just wow! Awesome lunch very unassuming restaurant in a strip mall. Lunch crowd got in and out early. So dont go early, go about 1215. Small seating area is the only drawback. Complimentary spring roll and soup with each order. I had a flat noodle and brocolli platter with shrimp that could have fed 2 people but the heck with it, i ate it all. The sauce with sweet and spicy and to die for. I think it was called Vaad pan? But awesome!!!

This was my first visit to the great find. It is a very small restaurant seating about 36 people but lucky for many they offer take out and local delivery. The restaurant is very clean and there is cloth table covers and napkins. Be sure to bring a friend to share the food with or be prepared to take some home. Be sure to try the Tom Kha Gai. It is a wonderful coconut broth soup with lots of chicken, mushroom and herbs.

We were back at Morningside Thai on Kirby and enjoyed another fantastic dinner. I ordered the Curry Noodle With Shrimp and it was absolutely delicious. The shrimp was plump and tender - I don't know if I have ever found a place that cooks shrimp to such perfection. The curry sauce was smooth and spicy - rated a medium spicy and I would only recommend it for those who truly like medium hot spicy flavor. My husband so enjoyed the chicken and peanut sauce the last time that he ordered it again. Again, the portions were quite generous and we both had to take half of our dinners home. The staff greeted us right away and seated us where we preferred. They were friendly, helpful and attentive. I am sure we will be back there next week.

Went there for dinner tonight and I thought the food was not very good. The Pai Thai smelled like vinegar and was over cooked. Also had the chicken with peanut sauce which had very little sauce and the spinach that was in it was gritty.

I'm new to Thai and you are probably thinking I shouldn't say is soooo amazing because I don't have anything to compare it to BUT it didn't scare me away, it made me eat it more! I have had green and yellow curry, their sampler appetizer plate, a friend tried the noodles and they were amazing! BUT ABOVE ALL.... Try the coconut ice cream with sticky rice or fried banana. SO AMAZING AND FREAKING DELICIOUS! Delivery is fast and just as good!

The place is small. They have very few tables and apparently they do a lot of deliveries. Food is average. I've had better thai food in other places. My dumplings were cold and undercooked. My pad thai was ok, a bit light though but plentiful. My wife's yellow curry seemed relatively healthy, but again, chicken was undercooked. Good, not great.

This restaurant has been in business for years. I went to it, probably 20 years ago, and never returned. I decided to give it another try and ordered Pad Thai and Curried Beef. The beef was tough but the curry was tasty. The vegetables on the Pad Thai were frozen, not fresh and it was a strange mixture. I will not return. However, the staff were lovely. They had actually forgotten to put my order in (I had called for carry out) but they got it ready in a whiz and were very apologetic.

Had one of my favorite Houston meals at this unassuming restaurant that I had passed many times without noticing. When searching on Tripadvisor for good Thai places, we were shocked to find one so close to where we were staying that we were not really aware of. It is tucked away in a strip mall and is quite small. However, they are preparing some amazing food and the service is wonderful. We started with the chicken satay with a delicious peanut sauce and a cucumber sauce (cannot comment on that one as cucumbers are one of only a few things I do not enjoy eating). For entrees, we had the shrimp panang curry, chicken fried pineapple rice, sweet and sour chicken, and another dish I cannot recall. It was all delicious and the right amount of heat. We had a fantastic meal and quickly returned for a second visit that was just as good!

What can I say...HUGE portions and authentic Thai cooking...not some Mexican in the Kitchen cooking, lol I wish I lived closer so I could get it delivered! Don't hesitate to go there!

We were out for a walk on Kirby and Braeswood when we "discovered" the Morningside Thai Restaurant next to Sarpino's Pizzeria. Our visit turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. When you walk through the front door, you step into a small but very elegant restaurant with cherry wood tables and Thai tapestries on the walls. The decor and ambiance is almost unparalleled in this part of Houston. We started our dinner with two appetizers - the soft spring rolls and the crispy spring rolls. Both types were delicious. For dinner, I ordered the Pad Thai with shrimp which was incredibly tasty with peanut crumbles. My husband enjoyed the chicken and peanut sauce. Both of our dinners were generous portions that we could not finish. The menu is quite extensive and includes an array of seafood, meat and poultry items. The staff was very friendly, respectful and attentive. The appetizers came out quickly and the wait for our dinners was probably no more than 10-15 minutes. We will definitely return to this restaurant to enjoy other Thai selections.

Favorite Thai place in Houston. Great lunch specials ($7!). Authentic taste, as vouched by my Thai friends. And best of all, they do not hold back on the spice if you ask them!

Food is still tasty, though! I will keep coming back for the service and the food. This is still one of my favorite Thai restaurants.

This place is very, very small. At times it can be awkwardly quiet. This time we went it was not. The food was great as well as the service. Our waitress was prompt, attentive, and very kind. She recommended the eggplant as an appetizer, which was delicious. The pad Thai, pad kee mow (sp?) and the Thai basil chicken were all delicious. Very good portions, you'll most likely take some home.

This is a very good Thai food restaraunt. I have eaten here often while on business trips in Houston. While on a business trip in Houston in October I had heard they closed when in fact they have moved. PROS: For starters they have a nice selection of Thai food to choose from. Personally my favorites is the Pad Thai. It can be very spicy if you are not careful; I typically select medium, however if eaten too quickly the heat (spicy) could become overwhelming. The meal is served with a spring roll and a small bowl of rice soup. Pricing is not too bad either, for a healthy portion of Pad Thai, spring roll, bowl of soup, and a drink my total was just over $11.00. Service is very good, everyone has always been very friendly. CONS: Well as I mentioned earlier they have moved. Their old location has a nice Thai ambiance. The new location is smaller, colder inside, and the ambiance is all but gone. Summary: If you fin yourself in the Houston area, specifically around the Medical District, and are in the mood for Thai, I would highly recommend trying Morningside Thai.

This was a small place not too far from my hotel. I had my doubts at first because there was almost a full house with only 2 people working. They gracefully managed the crowd. The food was the best Thai we ever had. It was so delicious we returned the next day.

Small Thai Restaurant with good menu and very good service. Food was above average, only disappointing thing was no beer or wine. Was very close to our hotel and easily within walking distance. The only reason and downgraded it to average was the total beverage selection. However the Tia Iced Tea was excellent!

This review refers to the new location at 2473-A South Braeswood at Kirby. I don't know about their old location, but this is our current favorite Thai restaurant in our part of southwest Houston. The place is very small - maybe 12 tables. But the service is great, just like the food. I would highly recommend Morningside Thai!!

I had been to many Thai food restraunts with friends, but never really cared for the food. I certainly wouldn't go to those same places on my own. Once I went to Morningside, however, they changed my perspective. The food is so good, I now eat Thai without needing someone to ask. Their garlic chicken, yellow curry, and masman curry make it hard to decide. My wife loves the pineapple fried rice, and they know to start a batch of pad Thai as soon as they see my daughter enter. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, and worth the trip every time
Very disappointing
Bad experience with my favorite type of cuisine. Pad Thai did not taste like pad Thai. Bad thai Iced tea. Doubt it was authentic Thai.
