Just ok

By Kolette6 |

We were tired and cold and just wanted to find a cozy restaurant walking distance from our hotel...... We were so excited to find a Morton's Steakhous close by! We had been to a few Morton's over the years, though never at this location. The wait-staff was knowledgeable & attentive, but the venue seemed a bit tired and "worn", and our pri$ey meal was only so-so. We ordered 2-filets, 1-salad, & 1-order of Brussel sprouts to share, a beer and a mixed drink...... The brussel sprouts were way over-"sauced", and our filets did not cut like "butt-ah"...... We could have sent the filets back for being a bit overdone, but honestly, we were just kind of underwhelmed by the entire experience and just wanted to get out of there. I can't speak to the franchise as a whole (since we haven't been to a Morton's in several years), but this location definitely needs some updating & freshening up.....in both the dining room AND the kitchen.

Father/teenage son weekend in Chicago

By cflinn2016 |

Brought my 14 year old to see the Manchester City/Dortmund game this weekend in Chicago. Although neither of us had really packed clothes for eating at a steakhouse, at the last minute decided to eat at Morton's which was across the street from our hotel before the game. The food was fantastic. But, what impressed me the most was the service. Although, we certainly were underdressed, the entire staff -- from the hostess to the person filling our water to our server to the manager -- could not have been nicer or more professional. I would strongly recommend this restaurant. I would absolutely return.

Treat yourself

By minnesotans4 |

My family and I went to Morton's for the bar happy hour which featured drink and food specials. Our favorites were the iceberg wedge and the filet mignon trio. We split the delicious key lime pie. I had never had a key lime martini and to my surprise it was excellent. The bar was crowded but that didn't deter our server from treating us like we were the only ones there.

Accommodated at last minute

By Diana C |

Not sure what time we would be arriving in Chicago, I had not made reservations for dinner during our recent visit. It was my birthday and I wanted a special meal. We went to Morton's and they were able to seat us and provide a wonderful experience. The steak was cooked perfectly and the lemon souffle was amazing! I would have given 5 stars but we were seated right next to the kitchen area and the wait staff constantly going by.

Steaks and more

Reliable steakhouse we’re familiar with. For starters, we go for the oysters (rockefeller), crabcake, tuna tower, lobster bisque For mains , steaks (of course), chicken, salmon We usually skip dessert as we’re stuffed

Excellent meat 🥩

Excellent experience in this restaurant where I consumed an excellent and abundant New York Steak - very large selection of wines - medium-high prices - but excellent quality. Professional staff. The dessert - creme braule - is also of a good standard.

Hot Chocolate Cake is Awesome!

By CosmosMomLA |

We were visiting Chicago for a few days. Spouse had been to Morton's in Chicago years ago and wanted to revisit for a birthday dinner. Everything was fabulous - we were seated at a booth. The wine list was impressive and we selected a nice Napa cabernet. We split the iceberg wedge and thought the blue cheese dressing was excellent. The filet and wagyu filet were accompanied by brussels sprouts and sour cream mashed potatoes. Because it was a birthday dinner, Morton's presented a hot chocolate cake with ice cream and a candle to the birthday guest. The hot chocolate cake was delicious and I'm going to try to find the recipe to make at home. Overall, we loved our visit to Morton's of Chicago.

Top class steaks

By BubbleGirl13 |

Dined here twice during our Chicago stay. The restaurant feels high end and the staff deliver on that experience. The steaks are phenomenal which is why we returned a second time. The wine list is also excellent with many choices. Walking distance from the Pendry Hotel which was great for us too.

Decent food but expensive

By 898frank |

Was invited for dinner by a business friend who wanted to eat in a high-end steakhouse. We started with a set of appetizers that were OK. I had the filet mignon which was good quality meat, the side dishes were about average. Cheesecake desert was very good. Friendly and attentive waitress. All in all not a bad place but if I wasn't invited I would not go here, quite expensive for what you get.

Nice Meat, but you have to pay the bones

By berroacda |

The incredible place, is an extraordinary experience, starting with the Bread. The wine card is huge, and the prices are fair. With order a salad and onion soup. Nice. Then with order the Rib Eye, and the Tomahawk. The second one, more tastefully, but 32 oz, but the charge the big bone, so is no nice to pay it. Not place for dessert. The price high, according to the luxe and quality.

Mediocre Morton’s

By xilouie |

We were blown away when the bill came for dinner. Just couldn’t get my mind wrapped around the cost of a steak that wasn’t great. $650 for 3 people was absurd! The wine was 1/3 of the price but it just wasn’t worth the price. They can do better....

We're fine, let us eat

By Rachel D |

This was our second time dining here. Came back for the chopped salad and filet. Steaks were cooked perfectly and the entire dinner had the quality we love. Only thing we would change...we were checked on much too frequently by two servers and two hosts. It was definitely overkill to the point where our dining experience was affected. Three times we had to tell people to leave the butter and twice we almost had our plates removed before we were done. We appreciate the service. But people do want some quiet time also.

Great classic steakhouse started in Chicago

By Ron O |

Visiting Chicago from our home in SF Bay area (Palo Alto). Cloth table restaurant with room between tables, well dressed and quiet patrons. Chicago tunes played in background. Very enjoyable, excellent Caesar salad, nice prime ribeye shared between two. Friendly server, very nice evening. Went there because we know the restaurant from elsewhere and have found reviews of other supposedly "best restaurants" not trustworthy and disappointing.

Got invited for business dinner at the Morton's Steakhouse few days ago , my host knew I am a fussy steak eater , he told me Morton's is one of elite steak house in Chicago , it is high price upscale steakhouse , hung dinning room cozy ambiance not like the old style 50's steak house , tablets well set up for six of us , menu not over size , lot of choices , I had Caesar salad and Rockefeller for appetizer , my 22 oz Bone in ribeye ( MR ) for $72 Us not shabby at all , absolutely fantastic classic steakhouse grilling so flavourful just melt in my mouth , prime of the prime , my partner she love her Lamb Chop , looks yummy , good steak you do not need any sauce on it , nice go with the Mushroom and spinach , also with the mashed potatoes , great meal , and our sever very attentive and professional , he knew it is business dinner , just stay away but know when do come or not to come to our tablet , he did stopped few times make sure we all happy and full , over all , truly a excellent Steakhouse , can stand side by side any Steakhouse in Vegas , exceeded my expectations , I thank my host for it , and he so happy I enjoyed the meal , so if you visiting Chicago , must try this place , definitely taste different them any steak restaurants , truly recommend , well done Management .

Way overpriced

By jfason |

We had the 6oz filet mignon. It was cooked to desired request (medium rare), however, the taste wasn't up to the standards I would expect for this establishment. And $18 for w bowl of soup is a slap

Dismal Host attention

By Dagoberto M |

I went without reservation, I am greeted by a guy who tells me that I will have to eat at the bar, for not complying with the dress code and assigned me a reduced high table of space. Left with no choice, I grab the table. I realize that although the one who greeted me looked like Arabic, he let into the dining area different races, white, dark, yellow, Latino, oriental, with T-shirts, with flip-flops The only good thing was the attention of the waitress and her assistant I ended up eating well as the waitress next to the two tables so I could have room for food and drink The taste is almost as good in all the establishments of this franchise

Mheeeeee

By foodie lab |

Not what I expect for a top dollar steak house , the experience was poor food , service , ambiance etc Etc really bad . Choose another steak house instead !!

I am not impressed

By filnuovum |

We, a group of 7 people, ended having dinner at this restaurant last night. We tried other two ones but they were full and could not take us so, as one of us tried the Morton’s in New York last year, suggested to give it a try. Since we had been all day long at Natonional Restaurant Associaton Show all day long and have been trying all different type of foods all day long, we were not very hungry so we just ordered a main dish. I had to say that service was perfect (sorry but I don’t remember the name of our waitress but this young woman did a great job). Not her fault that one of the wine glasses was not good and it had to be changed. Meat was not very good at all. I have ate better meat many times before. For this price, for sure, they should offer something much, much better. We order some desserts. Two war good (lime pie and cheese cake but a Crème Brulee was so so). At the end, tip included, 700 USD. Really expensive for what we got. Would I go back again? Perhaps. You never know. I have to say I have had much better food at the Elephant and Castle, close to our hotel and paid much, much less

Possibly the best steak of my life!

By 780rickp |

I am no stranger to morton's Steakhouse and like most I have had good steaks and ok steaks here. never a bad experience but rarely notable, until now. I had a Cajun Rib-Eye done to perfection that I will continue to taste in my dreams. I sat at the bar and service was super quick! As though I were the only diner in the house. I have to say I am not a fan of the wine list. Poor choices or so high end it is stupid to pay the price even for a glass. That being said I had a nice IPA instead. When the steak arrived it was hot and blackened medium rare exactly to my liking. Tender juicy but not fatty like some Rib-Eyes can be. The steak was large and sadly left some on the plate. If I ever find myself on Death Row ordering my last meal it would be that steak! One beer, one baked potato and one steak $100. Not normal for me to spend that on a solo dinner but I can't say I regret it one bit.

Good steakhouse but expected better

By jarlbertil |

My wife and I had dinner in it. I ordered a ribeye and it was too thin for my taste. My wife had shrimp and the liked it. Definitely the thin ribeye steak for fifty plus dollars was too expensive and not so good as it should have been

A steak knife that would be classified as a lethal weapon in most countries...

By Orpheus2016 |

I was gently wandering down State Street taking in the city vaguely looking for somewhere to eat and noticed the sign to Mortons. How could I leave Chicago without visiting its most famous steakhouse. I opted for the crab cakes and was not disappointed; they were fabulous. Side portions of fries and spinach were, typically, enough to fee an army......shame to have to let some go wasted, but that's the US all over I am sad to say. And the steak knife, it must have weighed a pound...an extraordinary piece of cutlery. Service was excellent, swift and friendly. The manager even dropped by to make sure all was well. Not cheap though; I paid $85 for a lunch for one with a beer.

Classic Steakhouse

By Joe G |

Sorry to say, we did not have dinner here, but as it was across the street from our hotel, we brought clients in for a beverage or too. Classic Steakhouse interior, low lighting, wood paneling, hushed tones. If you have been in any other Morton's you know the quality of the meat & seafood, so I won't go into that. Eddie the Bartender was GREAT! Real showman and professional. Made a mean Manhattan, and for my client an exceptional Old Fashioned with some "secret ingredient". Great conversationalist and all around nice guy. Drinks are typical of any big city ~ $12.00-$15.00. Across from the Hilton Garden Inn, and Hampton Inn.

Great steaks and cocktails

By Morts L |

Went a Friday night and really enjoyed it! Service is great and personal. 24oz steak was amazing and selection of wine amazing! Will definitely be back again when back in IL

Classic

Keep it simple, keep it pure. Let the ingredients and cooking skill do the talking. It is an expensive treat but worth it. Old world service and style. Excellent ingredients cooked with skill. No messing around, no silly flavors or showing off.

NOT the Morton’s I remember

By David L |

I visited on June 2 at the Wacker Drive location. I fondly remember the several visits I made to Morton’s years ago…definitely an experience not soon forgotten. Sadly, this visit was an experience worth forgetting. The Lobster bisque was not like anything I’ve had before…I do not know what was with the cream (sour cream?) taste. The Caesar salad was right out of my own kitchen…nothing special…some lettuce with dressing. The, medium rare, filets were ok. Mine didn’t bleed all over the plate like my son’s did. The restaurant looked like a well done Denny’s renovation. My Gin and tonic was watery, and, is it just me, but what was with the steak piece in my son’s Manhattan? The coffee was bland. I am so sad to be writing this, because the Morton’s I remember was a rich and hearty visual as well as palate experience. I was so excited to take my son there. No, I would not go back, and I seriously would recommend you choose another steak joint for a memorable experience. I hate writing this, I really do. On last thing, the bill was $240 with tip.

Luxurious treat

By JustAsIAmSMC |

I visited this Morton's location due to its very close proximity to the St. Jane Hotel on Michigan Ave. where we were staying. This is not a restaurant I am able to frequent, but as a once a year indulgence it was worth it. Even using a $50 gift card I got with credit card points, the out of pocket was over $100 for 2 steaks (Prime Manhattan and Prime Ribeye) and a shareable side dish (sautéed spinach with button mushrooms), including tax and tip. I must admit though, this was the best steak I have ever had, and it was cooked to perfection. The complimentary warm onion bread with whipped butter is a nice touch at the start of the meal. The service was wonderful and I definitely plan to visit again.

We come for Souffle! The best in Chicago!

By Robert E |

We are not huge fans of Morton's for dinner. The food is OK, decent atmosphere, but rather old-fashioned and dated. Not a hip lively spot at all. With that said, we always find time to stop by, sit in the bar and order dessert. They have the best chocolate souffle ever! Its always a special treat.

Outstanding Service!

By Greg318 |

We had a wonderful dinner. Our server, Winston, was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, helpful and not too obtrusive. The filets were very good. Very extensive but expensive wine selections. Save room for the chocolate lava cake and the soufflé. Don’t be in a rush.

Good food, slow service, and being crammed in wasn't to my liking

By Tracy C |

I have been here a few times and it's usually what you would expect, and nothing more but my recent visit was slightly under par with what I would expect. We were a party of 10 and quickly realised that we were sat at a table which was a large round wobbly, wooden board on top of a much smaller table. Playing catch your wine glass everytime someone leaned on it. The food was good, although the service was slower than I would have liked, we ended up pouring our own wine on several occasions. Also, being the only female at the table, one would have expected the waiters to ask me to order first and that was not the case. We were also not given any recommendations from the menu. The bill was reasonable, around $1500 but the presentation and the handling of that was a little strange, and at that point, there was zero customer service. Overall the guests were happy, the food was well cooked, but this missed that sparkle that I had hoped for. Shame really, maybe I got them on a bad night, I would try again.

Nice place and good food

We had a nice dinner with good food and accurate service in a pleasant setting. Not cheap, but worthy to visit

Excellent Steak! Spectacular Service

By Ricardo R |

Celebrated my birthday here. It was phenomenal, the food was tasty and filling. What really impressed me was the service, everyone was very pleasant and helpful. I never had the chance to ask for more of anything because they were already there refilling my water, pouring more wine etc. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves good food and good service.

Client dinner to remember

By Malcolm P |

Took clients here for dinner and was slightly worried as someone mentioned going the night before and it being poor. Not sure what went wrong for them but we had an outstanding dinner with several of us commenting it was possibly the best steak we had eaten. Service impeccable, extensive list of great wines and a perfect atmosphere for a business meal.

Perfect Meal and Service

By Travel 26 |

Service was perfect, the food was spectacular! I suggest the bone in prime rib steak, wedge salad, and mashed potatoes.

Excellent

Had a gift card and so worth it. Excellent signature cocktails, warm, Soft bread. Perfect steaks, great selection of sides. Wonderful wait staff, very attentive. Great experience.

Good location, but a little disappointing

By iqaboveyours |

This chain of steakhouses has a great reputation for good quality steak, and you will need to book to get a table most nights. I booked a table for myself whilst in Chicago. I have to say the steak was average (i had the New York Strip). It was certainly not the best steak i have ever had nor the worst, but it was just average. The side of Hash Brown though was very good and filled an entire plate. What i didn't like, and i know this is common of restaurants in the US is that i was given bread whilst i waited for my food, it was a very large piece of bread. I never asked for it or indeed ate any of it, but was charged $7.00 for it. The service was good, and it was busy on a Wednesday night when i visited. All in all average food, at what was certainly not an average price!

Very nice menu, facility. Asked for a 10oz. filet, medium well and waiter said that it must be "butterflied"; first time that I have heard that a filet couldn't be prepared that way, probably for the convenience of the of the chef; I have eaten in many steak houses and never encounter this. Steak was good but not as juicy. Of course menu was expensive, but expected this; appetizer(shrimp cocktail) was one of the best I have ever had. Desserts we decadent.

A classic that never disappoints...

By jeremyf894 |

There's just something special about Morton's in Chicago. I'm not sure what it is. We went with a large group so we had a limited menu for budgetary reasons. That said, the Morton's filet was one of the options and is always excellent. We had several excellent appetizers and spinach and mac n cheese as sides. It made for quite a filling and quite fantastic meal. No doubt, if you're going, you'll have the full menu -- which I've ordered from a number of times. You really won't be disappointed no matter what you get. Everything there is excellent!

It’s dripping good !!!!!! It’s got the sauce !!!!!!

Great steak...

By whileitravel |

Came here for dinner last night with my wife. We had made reservations for 9pm and were quickly seated. She offered the special, steak and lobster while simply went with the 8oz tenderloin with carrots on the side. Was considering a bottle of wine, but when I saw the 5x markup it was a hard pass. Got the glass of Duckhorn, but cheap at 30 bucks, but excellent wine. Service was excellent. Nice ambiance. Overall good night. Recommended.

Fabulous Filet

By DivineDiner77 |

My husband dine out quite often and love to go to different spots in Chicago, but Morton’s is a place we frequent regularly. It’s all about the Filet! It is juicy and melts in your mouth. The sides are wonderful, I recommend the Brussels sprouts! Yum!

2nd best steakhouse to go to next to Gibson's Steakhouse Franchise for fine Steak Dining

By Art J |

Well this is my 1st time as well as my relatives dining here. It was a really exciting treatout opportunity to try Morton's steakhouse and I have to say it was 2nd to none. In means of service it was great. The food was excellent but cannot be compared to Gibson's steak house quality. I do like Morton's steakhouse too and would potentially come back. It was a late birthday dinner since I just came back from Memphis, Tennessee and couldn't celebrate eating here on my true birthday July 7. Anyways it was in downtown Chicago and ambiance was good. Was impressed by there garlic bread with fresh butter. They gave a personal menu of me celebrating my birthday despite being late. Originally I was gonna order the 42 oz prime porterhouse which was a pricey $114 but my server warned me it would take an 1 hour to cook so I ended up ordering the 24 oz prime porterhouse at medium well not rare. It was delicious and juicy with the right steak texture. As a side for sharing we had the sauteed brussel sprouts which was cook right and didn't taste to cabbagy than how I usually order brussel sprouts. The sauteed broccoli florets was also excellent too as another healthy delicious side. Was buttery too which I loved. Their lobster bisque soup was unique and delicious. Unlike other lobster bisque this one has a spicy not unique tangy taste to it which really made it stand out of other fancy restaurants that serve lobster bisque. I ended up getting the chocolate mousse for dessert which was light, sweet and delicious. I was gonna get their popular double chocolate cake but was already full. I also ordered a clear sangria which was a refresher and a bottle of red wine brand called "The Calling, Visonary" Red Blend Alexander Valley which I paired for my porterhouse steak and my other guests (my sister and friend's) filet mignons. All in all it was a delightful dining experience. I would like to order the expensive 48 oz prime porterhouse steak buy will avoid eating lunch and will skip the appetizer if I go that route since It was the most expensive steak on the menu bar $114.

Steaks and more

By bcheong |

A decent steakhouse chain. Over the years, we usually have the caesar salad, crab cake, lobster bisque, oysters and beef tartare to start. The tuna tartare less good. For mains, the steaks of course. But we usually have the filet mignon. The ribeye and sirloin are chewy for me. Desserts are decadent, each should be shared by 4 people minimum. Wine selection limited 7/10

Power lunch special was superb

By minnesotans4 |

I had eaten here several times but my adult son had not. For the power lunch special, we ordered the lobster bisque, 9 oz rib eye and dessert for $35.50. My son ordered his steak medium rare and I chose medium. Both were done to perfection. A huge portion of mashed potatoes accompanied the steak. The complimentary loaf of bread was delicious. Our servers were attentive, made sure our water glass was always full and was satisfied with our meal. For a perfect meal, make a reservation at Morton's.

Great steaks, good service

By Aart Imran Issa-Epe |

Classic setting, nice and warm welcome. Friendly and quite formal staff. We ordered the New York strip medium rare. The meat was tender and tasteful and perfectly prepared. With 16 oz. no room for dessert.

Good food, great friends

By Mit1202 |

Our group of four had reservations for Morton’s in Chicago. We took an Uber from our hotel and we’re there quickly( approx one mile). We were seated immediately and given menus that were difficult to read in such a dark place. We placed a drink order and our excellent waiter gave a time to enjoy our cocktails before ordering dinner. To my husbands dismay they no longer serve the jumbo lump crab appetizer, but our friend had the crab cake and loved it. The men had filets, and the ladies had the mixed grill: small filet, two shrimp, two bacon wrapped scallops, along with side orders of creamed spinach and cheesy potatoes au gratin. Delicious, all. I saw a table getting a shrimp cocktail, nicely presented and the shrimp were large enough to be called prawns. Our waiter was Sergio and he was wonderful, very helpful, good explanations and recommendations and a great sense of humor. Since we couldn’t get an Uber to pick us up, we walked back to our hotel and that might have been a blessing after such a good meal. Wonderful evening with good friends and delicious food.

Try a different location!

By ASIAMIKA |

My husband and I had a very taxing Monday morning on October 21, 2019 and were looking forward to enjoying a wonderful lunch at Morton's on Wacker Drive in Chicago. We arrived around 2 PM. It was an off time, and there was only one other table occupied and a couple of people relaxing at the bar. The restaurant is aesthetically pleasing. Our waiter was pleasant. It goes sour from here. I requested a glass of wine. Ten minutes, still no wine. The waiter stopped by, I inquired about my wine and he said, "Oh, the bar is backed up." Not so! My husband ordered Onion soup and received Lobster Bisque. The waited gave me the soup, gratis. Good thing, because it was very peppery. Eventually the Onion Soup was served. It was delicious. I order Sea Bass. It too, was delicious. Bok Choy was served with the Sea Bass and it was not a good accompaniment. I requested a side of mashed potatoes. When they didn't arrive, I asked the waiter about my order and he responded with, "Oh, they're coming. Really, everything couldn't be served simultaneously? My husband was vey disappointed with his steak. So much, for anticipating a relaxing lunch that cost $200 (with tip) and ended with our being extremely disappointed and more stressed that when we arrived. : ( If you're determined to dine at Morton's, try a different location.

Good Steak

I went there with a group of business colleagues. Good steak and sides. They had south African lobster tails in the season that were tender, sweet and delicious. Good yet expensive wine selection. Overall good experience.

Perfect meal

By ktothejay |

From walking through the door to after dinner drinks and dessert - perfect experience. I’ve dined at 5-star steakhouses all over the country. And i have no problem saying this Morton’s was one of the best. They did a great job with service. The food was perfectly cooked. The staff was exceptional. The decor brings you back in time a bit but it is totally appropriate. Im getting tired of these big name steakhouses just expecting your business. This Morton’s worked for our business and we will definitely be coming back.

The best steaks in North Chicago

By ChefOwnerBobH |

By far one of the best restaurants in Chicago. Outstanding cocktails with superb food. Have enjoyed this restaurant once a week for the entire 2012 year. Never a bad meal.

What a great meal!

By Duncan E |

I had a meeting with my editor, a legend, over dinner. He’s retiring. We decided to go for it. The steaks were outstanding! The wine was well described by the sommelier and outstanding alongside the wonderful meat. Service was attentive and friendly throughout - it was a pleasure to be in this busy and high quality restaurant for an important and enjoyable dinner.

Superb meal

By SDJ-G12 |

We were in Chicago and felt we had to go to a steakhouse and we picked Morton's on E. Wacker Pl. We were not disappointed. Very good service and advice from our server. The starters were fantastic, beautiful scallops and lobster followed by on-the-bone filet mignon, which was to die for. The steak had great flavour and melted in the mouth. I had the crab/asparagus/bernaise topping which for me just finished it off. Not cheap, so be prepared for a hefty bill but it was worth it.

DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE

By rcfoulkes |

HIGHLIGHTS: - POORLY MAINTAINED venue (do not expect a luxurious or fin dining venue) - NOT ATTENTIVE STAFF, the restaurant was not full, yet even with a reservation walked us to a table teribly located, so we demanded a change of table, and with not a good attitude, they ended up moving us to another table better located - Food was average, not bad, but not amazing either - SERVICE STAFF ONLY FOCUSED ON THE TIP !! Beware of this! We did not intend to order a full bottle of wine as we were only 2 people, yet they insisted on us having a bottle, until I asked the waiter to stop pushing for a bottle we were not going to order. Obviously after he saw that our check was not going to be that high (hence smaller tip), he rarely appeared again to check up on us, really RUDE AND DISAPPOINTING - If you are looking for fine dining restaurants overall, or specifically a Fine Stake house, there are other pretty good options available - I DO NOT RECOMMEND at all this Restaurant

Just the two of us

As we expected it was incredible service was spectacular from the front desk to the waiter to the support staff! The drinks were very good and the reason for going the food...it was 5 star good and tasty oh my!! I highly recommend if your downtown Chicago go ahead and treat yourself

Great Steakhouse

By Stuart S |

We were on holiday from the UK and having dined at Morton's in other US cities we fully intended to try out the Chicago version. We booked for dinner on a Monday night expecting it to be quiet but when we arrived is was extremely busy, we were shown to our table and told by our waitress that they would be serving 500 meals that night ! that said, our table for two was quiet enough. Our food was really good as expected, service was attentive and friendly, this place is not cheap and you should be prepared to pay high prices but it is definitely worth it.

Steak or Seafood ALWAYS delicious

By dmff |

Morton's on Wacker. We selected the Escargot's En Cercueils which were prepared with butter & garlic & topped with a puff pastry, I also ordered the Wedge Salad with tomato, hard boiled egg & bacon crumble. Entree was Grilled Sea Bass topped with crab, asparagus, tomatoes, capers & tomatoes. (i am generally a Sea Bass purist - but this dish was so darn!! good I must order again. Sides (ample to share) were Mashed Potatoes, grilled asparagus. Dessert Key Lime Pie & Lemon Souffle.

Very disappointed

By Chris H |

Our first visit to this location. We will not return, and the experience has tainted my belief in Mortons-anywhere. I ordered the mixed grill: 6oz filet mignon, 2 bacon-wrapped scallops, an 2 grilled shrimp. My husband ordered his favorite, the Cajun ribeye. We shared creamed spinach and lyonnaise potatoes. My meal was not brought to my by our server, but by someone else. She slid it in front of me and I questioned her as to what was on my plate. She told me about the chutney and sauce. I was not expecting "apricot chutney" with the scallops, and believed I was getting grilled shrimp. I didn't want the chutney, and the shrimp was not grilled, instead it was steamed and placed on top of a lemon-based sauce. The scallops were a bit larger than a quarter. None of this was explained. Had it been, I would not have ordered this selection. The creamed spinach was as good as Mortons usual, but the "lyonnaise potatoes" were deep fried chunks of potatoes topped with browned onions. I know lyonnaise when I see them; these were far from it and certainly not worth $15.00. My husband was pleased with his steak and was happily eating. Front of the house manager listened to my frustration and offered to have another meal prepared for me. I declined, because I didn't want to delay our meal any further, nor did I want another disaster. I ate the filet only. We were given Crete brûlée for our trouble. No discount, just Creme brûlée. We fine dine about once a year. This meal was mediocre at best and not worth the $248.00. Orders should be right the first time for the price charged. Further, I believe they could have cared less.

Morton's is Still a Classy Joint!

By amkb12 |

We are in Chicago every year for my husband's work, and this year it fell on our wedding anniversary. It had probably been about 10 years since the last time we ate at Morton's, so we decided to go 'old-school' for our anniversary dinner. I had noted on the reservation that it was our anniversary, and we were greeted with 'Happy Anniversary' from 3 different people when we arrived. They even printed out special menus with 'Happy Anniversary 3/4/19' on them - a classy touch. Our server (whose name escapes me - but I really want to say Jeff or Greg? My apologies for not remembering!) was amazing. The food was as amazing as we remembered - I had the salmon and hubby had a steak. Every bite was delicious. We had the chocolate souffle for dessert (as one must do at Morton's) and it was on the house for our anniversary. The wine list is extensive to say the least, but they did have a bottle of one of my absolute favourite French wines, which was perfect. The service, the food, and the ambience are still pretty great at Morton's. They also took our photo and gave it to us in a nice card sleeve as a memento for our anniversary. It's still a Chicago classic!

I tried a 30 day dry aged ribeye and it was the most delicious and tender piece of flesh ever must see

I had the pleasure of dining here with a dozen of my business colleagues. The restaurant is conveniently located downtown. We were greeted when we entered and were brought to a lovely private dining room. The waitstaff was attentive, but not obtrusive. I am not a big fan of Morton's because I find it too much of a formula franchise like operation. Despite my prejudice, the meal was terrific. The deserts were unbelievable. Glad I went.

Is it overrated?

By Twinsguy |

We had a nice bar dining experience but I was surprised that the quality of our steaks wasn't superb. I would rank Steak 48 and others higher. The service was great but surprisingly the restaurant was not busy. Maybe it's a location and chain that's getting much too comfortable with themselves.

Tasty food and excellent service

By NICKOLAOS P |

I went alone as I was in Chicago for a conference and most of my colleagues had already left. It was fantastic (I always think that looking after a table for 1 is difficult for the servers). The gentleman looking after me (I think he was called Louis, please forgive me if I got the name wrong) was very professional, and spent considerable time patiently explaining to me the extensive wine choices. New York Strip cooked perfectly, delicious. Side order of creamed spinach was also lovely. Crème Brûlée was tasty and “the right size”. Thank you, I will be back.

Big Price, Average Experience

By Steven A. |

We dined at Morton's Steakhouse Chicago for a Birthday celebration and was left with an expensive meal, but a very average experience. With so many steakhouses in Chicago, one really must stand out and Morton's fell short on that order. The steaks were simply average compared to others in Chicago. Steaks had little flavor, and to add to the disappointment was the very limited sauces to compliment the steak. The best side was the french fries. It had been years since I had been to Morton's Chicago so I thought I would give it another try and now I remember why it had been years since I had dined there. For me, after only two strikes and you are out! There won't be a third time. In addition, their overhead music was like nails on a chalkboard for me.

Awesome Steak and Service

By Maverijk |

Had a wonderful wining and dining experience at Morton’s last night. Steak was heavenly and in stark contrast to the one I had at Michael Jordan’s earlier in the week. Grilled asparagus and matchstick fries were cooked to perfection and the wine pairing was delicious. The only observation I would make is that the menu has a raw section but is painfully obvious that many of the items in this section are in fact cooked. Perhaps a more appropriate menu header would be “chilled food”. Change the menu Morton’s

Wow wow wow

Mortons Steakhouse in Chicago was fantastic! We had sprimp cocktail which had 5 jumbo shrimp withe the best cocktail sauce. Our spinach salad was shredded and oh my gosh...wow! My steak was so tender, cooked perfectly and wow, just wow! Our horseradish potatoes were sooooo good. The best steakhouse we have ever gone to. Clean, great service, expensive but worth every cent. We will be back, wow!!

Okay, but Gibson's is better

By Jerry C |

The service was slow: bread was slow to come and was not replenished, the food was slow to arrive, and my ribeye was not as flavorful as the one I had recently at Gibson's. The slow service couldn't be explained by the restaurant being crowded, as we were there at opening time. Portions are also skimpy compared to Gibson's. I doubt that I'll return to this place.

Fabulous

By ash68 |

Fabulous from the moment you walk through the door. Our waiter for the night was Sergio who was fantastic and extremely knowledgeable about everything on the menu he was such a lovely guy and made our anniversary night that little bit extra special so a massive shout out to him. The food, wow. Starters, my wife had the delicious scallops wrapped in bacon and I had the also delicious crab cake. For mains I had the waghu fillet which was cooked to perfection (medium rare) and my wife had the 16oz ribeye which was also cooked to perfection (medium rare) she said it was the best ribeye she’d ever eaten. All in all a fantastic night and of course the food took centre stage but Sergio enhanced our night, this guy is a real credit to Morton’s Chicago.

A great meal

By offerkindness2016 |

I was in Chicago for a meeting. My wife, who is a Chicago native, said I should try Morton’s. I ordered the chopped salad - good size and very tasty. I had the New York strip steak medium - perfectly done, flavorful, juicy, tender, accompanied by horseradish mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. All of the food was well prepared and presented - without some of the fanfare I have encountered at other fine steakhouses. The service was attentive but not intrusive. Despite being fairly full, I could not pass on the double chocolate mousse - served in a martini glass with whipped cream, a raspberry and mint leaf! The consistency was just right - not too dense and not too thin. This is the perfect restaurant in Chicago for any special occasion - or just a good steak.

My Wife said "The Best Steak I ever Had", and I agree

By Terry S |

Knowing that we were going to end our summer trip in Chicago, I made a reservation at Morton's for the two of us, since I'd had a great steak there on my last visit. We shared a Caesar salad, each had a small filet, and had a bottle of great Pinot Noir (at a reasonable price). The waitress was great; she found out it was my birthday and offered me the choice of their dessert menu. I took the hot chocolate cake. It was a perfect evening for both of us. I recommend that anyone save out one night in Chicago for a dinner at Morton's.

Great steaks and wine selection

By Martin F |

the reputation is correct: a great steakhouse, a bit expensive though (including the wines). Busy at times but for Chicago very good downtown location, booking always honored.

Great, but at a price

Seriously good steak in a good atmosphere with friendly waiters. Almost a perfect place (except for the price point)..

Not a good experience

By Eduardo O |

I have visited this restaurant 5 years ago, and it was really a completely different experience compared to last night. I have recommend this place to my colleagues and we booked a table a month in advance . I ordered a rib eye medium temperature and what I got was a medium well and the beef was a bit dry. The chopped salad was very bad , full of blue cheese you couldn’t feel the flavors of the vegetables . Finally we asked the waiter to split the check and he told us that he can’t remember what each of us ordered. What was that !

One weird-azz surprise!

By deathroll |

The steak was fine, the sauteed mushrooms were absolutely delicious, the oysters were the best I've EVER had! If I had to do it over again, I'd order a side of mushrooms and 2 dozen oysters, hold the beef.

Really great, but not perfect

By chris j |

We had a mixed grill with beef, scallops and shrimp. The beef was great, but the scallops and the shrimp were barely warm as were the aspargus. Nevertheless it was great food and I will certainly go back. Staff is top, friendly helpfull and caring.

First sit-down meal in four months was superb

By lasl0nimne |

We generally eschew chain restaurants in lieu of local establishments. But with Chicago just coming out of quarantine our choices were very, very limited. Morton’s was open by reservation only and practiced social-distancing while everyone who served us wore masks. Eddie was friendly and knowledgeable, frequently apologizing for the service shortcomings the new rules demanded. The filet was perfectly cooked and almost fork tender. The iceberg wedge was humongous and delicious. The baked potato must have weighed two pounds and the sautéed spinach with button mushrooms was quite good. The abbreviated wine list was adequate. Unfortunately, we ordered too much food and had to pass on Morton’s “famous” chocolate cake.

Great Steakhouse

By mikeylim |

We were in Chicago for business and decided on having the steak experience in Chicago. We made reservations ahead for our party of 4. Upon arrival, we were shown to our table quickly and initial beverages were ordered. The menu was extensive and we ordered several small plates of appetizers to share. The escargots were a delight together with bacon wrapped scallops. The lobster bisque followed with a serving of Morton’s salad to share. We ordered a bottle of red to be share as we ordered our mains of both the ribeye with bone in and ribeye without the bone in. The steaks came nicely charred on the outside whilst juicy and pink in the inside. I must say the quality of meat here is balanced with good natural juices. We next ordered the creme brule for our desserts. It was a great dining experience and the service was both attentive and regular with our server coming back every few moments to check in our meal. I would visit again whenever I am back to Chicago.

My FAVORITE

We stopped in Morton’s Saturday night and were completely pleased. The filet and Chicken Christopher were delicious. That is my favorite chicken dish at any restaurant, period. The salads and Macaroni and Cheese were both fantastic as well. Definitely will be back.

3 course lunch!

By 18Catnap91 |

We went to Morton’s Steakhouse for our anniversary for lunch. The 3 course lunch is perfect and a great price! Be aware that it’s only served on weekdays. It includes their ooey gooey 5 onion soup, a succulent rib eye, and your choice of a delicious chocolate mousse or cheesecake. ( My husband LOVES cheesecake and said that Morton’s was one of the best!!!) Since it was our anniversary, they take a complimentary photo of you and present it in a small black cardboard folder. What a great way to spend the afternoon!

Ear shattering noise from bar distracts from food enjoyment

By Maureen B |

It was out first experience with Morton's and wow the steak was amazing. Melts in your mouth! The potatoes au gratin were very delicious too. The Caeser salad was nothing exciting. They lost a star with loud slinging of glasses and plates! It felt like a dive bar when they tossed beer bottles into the bin. So many tvs as well.

Evwrything but Steak

By Vee T |

So we came in on Memorial day. It was not busy & we did not have reservations. I liked the atmosphere but it is a bit dark. I liked that they had plexi partitions b/t the booths & the tables were properly spaced. However I did notice dust on them. We were served by Rao who was a bit dry at first until we engaged him in conversation. He went out of his way to make sure we were satisfied. So let me just say I am not a red meat eater but my friend was, yet neither of us ordered steak. I had the scallops and she had the salmon. The scallops were well cooked but I didn’t understand why the were not seared. I assumed they were cooked in the oven since they were wrapped in bacon. I loved the horseradish sauce paired with them. My friend raved about the salmon served on garbanzo beans. We shared the lobster mac and cheese and sautéed spinach with mushrooms. They did not skimp on the lobster but the dish itself needed more seasoning. The spinach & mushrooms were bright & refreshing. I had a sangria for $18 which seemed a bit much for what I got. My friend ordered key lime pie which was as expected. From what I tasted the crust needed more flavor and texture. Overall it was a good meal, with a food atmosphere, and good service. We just didn’t order the steak.

Super staff, good food, but noisy, dark and some clients dress sense...

By MPP2703 |

When I booked this, I am certain I read a dress code. Clearly this is not applied, and whilst it does not really impact on your experience, why publish it? The two issues is the place is very dark, our waiter lent me a mini torch to help read the menu. And the music is too loud. So, starting off a little negatively, let's discuss the good things. The staff are superb, and the food was good, although you are paying for it. This was our most expensive meal and we did not really order everything we would normally. I had a beer, bottled Bud $6.50, my wife a orange juice $4.25. My wife had the 8oz Filet mignon, good, but not the best she had in Chicago. Sides were sour cream mash, beautiful and a baked potato, $13.50 and $12.50 respectively. With tax $138 for two. All in all a good place to eat, you will pay for that. Still recommended.

Amazing food & service

By Craig V |

My wife and I decided to treat ourselves during our weekend in Chicago so we chose Morton’s Steakhouse on Wacker Dr. We were 30 minutes early for our 8pm reservation but were immediately seated. We then had the good fortune of having Winston assigned as our waiter, probably the best we have ever had, at any restaurant. We had never eaten at a Morton’s before so Winston took the time to explain their different cuts of meat, the specials, and to not over purchase the sides as they are huge. First was drinks which the bartender suggested a different wine in place of what my wife ordered and it was delicious. They brought out a loaf of the the most amazing bread, that had a crunchy crust and pillow like inside that had a hint of onion. So delicious. Next was the chopped salad which I highly recommend. My wife ordered the filet which was like butter and my ribeye was perfectly cooked and melted in my mouth. I will definitely go back to Morton’s on our next visit.

Impromptu dinner for two

By Jaime C |

When the weather wasn’t the greatest and we ventured out from our room at The Wyndham we came across Morton’s and frankly I wasn’t sure we were dressed for it in our jeans and boots. But they treated us wonderfully, we had an amazing dinner and I’d definitely go back! I had the trio which included a 6 oz filet, 2 bacon wrapped scallops and 2 shrimp which also came with asparagus. Everything was amazing!

Superb

By Charles S |

During our visit to Chicago, we stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in East Wacker Place, directly opposite is the famous Morton's The Steakhouse. This white linen restaurant is famous for it's steaks and seafood. The decor is beautiful and everything has an attention to detail about it. The food is superb and the servers are polite and attentive. There are tables and booths to choose from; there is a dress code, nothing less than smart casual is allowed, so dress up and enjoy this fantastic restaurant.

Consistent quality of Steak

By Places with people |

I’m sure many have tried Morton’s and they would agree that the quality of steak is consistent. I reserved this place as my last meal in Chicago. Ordered a Prime Ribeye and spinach with mushrooms. This has got to be the most memorable meal for me - steak was juicy, ambience was perfect for the mood to wind down before I fly back home, together with a glass of red wine, the evening was perfect. Service was great too!

Chicago trip

By brada965 |

I had not been to a Morton’s since they were purchased by the Landry group solely because they used Buckhead Beef as their supplier instead of Allen Brothers...however now, the Chicago area units are all Allen Brothers and our meal was 10/10. Amazing service (Mary), tremendous sommelier, and the best steak I have had put in a long time. Highly recommended!

Greatest early dinner for your tastebuds !

Stopped in for a light dinner prior to a theatre engagement, lightly char seared Ahi Tuna steak, perfectly seared Med Rare, served over a fresh greens salad with a Raspberry Lime vinaigrette and grilled asparagus as a side. My significant other had the chopped house salad w/shrimp ! Service was fast and food was on the table within 25 mins from order ! Kudos to the staff and servers ! Bon Appetite’

Great

By NishaP |

Place was awesome. They didn't let me eat in the dining area because my shirt was sheer. I sat in the front bar area at a table, which was still nice. It's expensive though. My Bill was $120 for a $19 drink with steak/food combination, which came with appetizer, choice if seafood, side, and dessert for $89. I will be back soon

Anniversary Dinner

By wolverine331 |

My wife told the restaurant we were in for our anniversary when she made the reservation and we were given special menus with our anniversary date and wishing us a special anniversary to keep. Very nice touch. The meals were wonderful. My wife had a filet with bone marrow and I had a dry aged new york strip plus we split the Morton's salad and wild mushroom vegetable. The bread given was also top notch. Everything was very yummy. The service staff was exceptionally polite and took very nice care of us. We were offered a free dessert since it was anniversary but declined because we were full and had a cake back at our hotel. The price is not cheap but the food and service are very high quality and I am glad we went.

Horrible Experience!!!

By Monica |

If I could give this restaurant less than a 1 it would be gracious. I had the most horrific experience at this establishment. I came to town for my best friend's 50th birthday as well as my daughters 31st bday. We were greeted warmly from the hostess and then it went downhill from there. The waiter literally threw straws at us. We were seated at a large circle table and instead of him walking around he threw them at the guests . We all looked in disbelief. After that I asked for hot tea as it was raining outside, the waiter rudely asked, Did you pick out one yet? I politely excused myself from the table and asked the manager for a new server. He obliged and then proceeded to tell the waiter who was delivering soup and salad at the time of the issue. At the table in front of my entire party he looks at me and says openly we have a new server coming, but you weren't disrespected intentionally, in a very callous way, but we will take care of it. He never apologized for his staff and did not have a bit of empathy. First off, no one ever used the word disrespect at that point. He was simply rude. We then no longer felt comfortable. One of my family members suggested that we pay for the soup and salad and just leave, which I definitely wish I had done as the story gets worse. I told the manager that it was unfair for him to not take responsibility for a customer being mistreated, and to tell me that i was not disrespected wasn't his place, and his exact words were, "Well you take it however you wish to take it." When I asked him if he was trained to say that, he restated it in a nice way....as if I didn't understand him the first time. I was appalled, The General manager Jake overheard our conversation and then comes over and says, let's turn this around. He asked my name and said I really wanna make you happy and I can do that. Welp that was a HUGE lie!!!!!! We got a new server who was ok, and I mean just ok. She did not act like one trained to overdo it to customers who had been offended. (I am a business coach and I saw several coaching opportunities.) We ate dinner which was good and then was asked if we were ready for the check. We received the check and there was NOTHING discounted at all for the major debacle we had just encountered. I asked to speak to Jake and he was like oh would you like deserts or drinks, of which I told him no as we were taking to go plates. He was like ok well I hope we were able to turn things around. I was like um don't you think you should do something, anything???? For me it's the principle. We had more than enough to pay for the bill, but it's simply the principle. He was like well I asked you if you wanted desert and I responded and I told you we do not. I asked him to speak to me privately as the two birthday ladies have already had their birthday lunch ruined by this. He proceeded to become rude saying I tried to make you happy. I said I think you should do something and he said you didn't give me a chance, which once again was a lie. I reminded him...I did, and you kept trying to offer my dessert. I said you should take something off and he said Im not used to having someone ask to have something taken off and I told him that this is NOT my first time dining in a supposed fine dining establishment and I have never had to ask. I should have never stayed and he was proof of the training or lack thereof that management had received. I could go on and on but this HORRIBLE experience has taken enough of my time and money. I would stay away if I were you. I will never return to Mortons again in any city!

Terrible!

By Lucas T |

Today I suffered the worst treatment ever at Morton’s E Wacker Chicago. I made a reservation at open table, and there was no dress code at open table. When I arrived, he did not let us sit because of my dress code. I was wearing tennis shoes, pants, and a T-shirt, and there was no information about the dress code at the reservation.

A good restaurant Efficient and very pleasant service. Complete and very affordable menu. No trap, it's an excellent address

Disappointing service and mediocre food

By DrParticle |

Expected a lot from a high end place, but disappointed on this visit. Food was average, the service found wanting. Items promised for special dietary needs were forgotten and the response was a bit snooty. The steaks were good but the rest not. Weak espresso was a bad finish. All in all a big disappointment.

Went in only because it was right across the street from our hotel...

By Tour243900 |

Ok, we will try Mortons...was a little shocked at the meal price. The waiter came over with a plate full of raw steak to show us just how wonderful the steak was, but honestly, the presentation of a plate of uncooked steak was a little too wierd for me. ..however, we both ordered the 6 oz filet, and, indeed the best steak in my life. But 49 bux for 6 oz. of meat? I have been in the restaurant business, and honestly, that is just plain greed. The waiter was nice enough, although he tried to scrape the crumbs off the table with a table knife! I said, ok, just let's drop the pretense and I proceeded to wiped it off into my napkin with my hand. However, overall, a wonderful dinner, great ambiance, nice soft lighting.

Not Interested Serving Black Guest

By Terri86 |

I go to Morton’s frequently; even had a private birthday party there. On 11/3, a persnickety host decided to enforce a dress code policy with my friend that was not be enforced on the White patrons. I’ll never be back. I even talked to the manager. It was overtly clear, they do not want to serve Black guest.

Waiter had NO sense of humor, But....

By Ted R |

Morton's is generally reliable. I was in Chicago on business, staying nearby, and took a good friend to dinner. Didn't know where to go, so picked Morton's on Wacker Place. I cracked a few jokes, but the waiter greeted them with a look of disapproval. I think he took himself too seriously. He also didn't give us time to chat for a bot before looking at the menu or ordering dessert. I felt he was trying to rush us. At Morton's prices.....rushing a customer is not appropriate. Bar bill needs to be settled at bar; they wouldn't let me transfer it onto the dinner bill; that's not typical of high end restaurants. And we arrived about 30 minutes early, but had to wait for a table, even though the restaurant was hardly full. OK.....those minor complaints voiced: the steak was tender and flavorful, the side grilled shrimp large and well seasoned, the side of broccoli larger than two good adult eaters could consume, and the fresh berries excellent. So, the FOOD was wonderful. Ambience was classic Morton's: good for business or a romantic meal and everything in between. I still give it 5 stars because of the food, but the total experience was a tad suboptimal for a high end, well known establishment.

Outstanding

Great lunch, great service

We celebrated my son's birthday with lunch here. The staff was wonderful about making it special for him, with a personalized Happy Birthday on his menu and a candle on his dessert. The food was excellent. Steaks were delicious and cooked perfectly. Mashed potatoes, salads and soups were all very good. The surprise highlight of the meal was the cheesecake - very fresh, creamy, dense and rich. Thanks for a great experience!

Eh. Nothing Special

By Robert M |

There is a Morton’s in Saratoga. Consistent and ok. Here? Terrible seating on a night where there was no one there. Next to a table of 6. Load. Laughing and obnoxious. Three 24oz porterhouse. Two MR; one M. Out in under 5 minutes. Ore-cooked, flavorless. Tender meat but for $65?? Desert nothing special. An OK steakhouse. NOT the best.

My Expectations were Higher

By CJrich1 |

I’ve been to quite a bit of steakhouses over the years. The Morton’s in Orlando Florida was spot on, but this one in Chicago missed a few marks. Firstly, the complimentary bread was great, however, the person who kept coming to tables to remove used plates/forks etc., didn’t allow us time to enjoy it. He removed it after we only tasted one slice. There was plenty left. Secondly, I had to return the steak burger I ordered because it tasted like the chef put way too much salt on it, then tried to cover it up with pepper. It was also over cooked. I asked for medium well, and it came back extra well. All I can say right now is that 5 guys burgers has theirs beat. My family did enjoy the steaks. Lesson learned: don’t order a burger from a steak house.

Great steak

By Stan W |

Morton's lives up to its reputation as a great steakhouse. Had filet, great. My wife had New York cut. Also excellent. Excellent server. He did a great job for us. Easy walk. Couple blocks from hotel. I'd like to say more but everything was wonderful.

Average food not worth the money

By Travelwellhk |

Morton's has restaurants throughout the world and the restaurant's hometown is Chicago. The wine list is very extensive with good American wines and from various parts of the world. Although the steak was well grilled on the outside, the meat is not too tender enough and the favor is not the best. As the price is not cheap, suggest to go elsewhere if you want real fine dining.

Always great!

By EMNJNYC |

Morton's is awesome, wherever you are, but I had a great dinner here. Awesome and huge martini with plenty of olives. Bone in filet was delicious. Fun, friendly staff as well.

My favourite steakhouse in Chicago

By 671berth |

Morton's has many restaurants in the Chicago area and they are probably all good and consistent. But this one is my favourite because it is almost always atound the corner from my hotel. Easy going, never very crowded and always a place at the bar or the high tables in the front. Great steaks, great wines. Big portions and not really cheap but well worth your money. Safe choice!!

So Good

By Dave T |

Morton’s delivered for sure! Possibly one of the best steaks I’ve had - absolutely cooked perfectly. Our waiter was really helpful, and very attentive. This is not an inexpensive restaurant, but is well worth it. My wife ordered a salad that was huge, and I ordered a 8 oz filet, and a side of au gratin potatoes, and we shared so we could have room for desert. The bread pudding is one of the best I’ve had. Great night, great meal.

Everything was great. I had lobster bisque and the bone-in-filet. Cooked perfect with great sides. They do half portions which is nice if you are flying solo. Service was good but not special. Go enjoy a steak.

Nice steaks - could be better service

By Greg H |

Had a good evening here with colleagues, on a flying visit to chicago. We missed out on some other options and just dropped in and they were happy to have us. Some of our orders were a bit mixed up, but the main event - the steaks - were really good. Will be back.

Amazing Food

By Grace A |

Being a vegetarian attending a steakhouse, I was a little nervous, however the Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and broccoli were divine! The others in my party said the steak was delicious. The atmosphere was very nice and quiet, with lots of people dressed up. Basically what you would expect of a fancy steakhouse. The dessert was amazing! I would come again. Definitely not a place to bring children, though.

Excellent meat

By Cohibaba |

Dinner w/ wifey - steaks were cooked to perfection and incredibly tender. Service was excellent. Appetizers were great. Excellent wine list - some specials we took advantage of! Ambience was not that great - seated upstairs. Seemed like more of an overflow-seating at a relative's house (especially when you have 2 tables in the back that know each other and are standing and yelling...) than in a fine dining establishment that demands $$$$$ for their "experience". I would come back for the food but only if seated in main restaurant. And Lord knows Chicago has PLENTY of excellent steak houses vying for post-covid customer dineros....so choose appropriately.

Amazing always

You can never go wrong with Morton’s. They’re so attentive and every steak is cooked to perfection. You are never rushed either. Love bringing our family here for every Christmas

Wonderful meal

Very good meal and our waiter was fantastic. We had two steaks, two sides. two appetizers and two drinks and it was $248 with tax. So be prepared. Everything was outstanding and I wish we could go again soon (we’re from out of town).

Apps and Drinks

Stopped in before a show for a quick drink and some appetizers. In the big world of steak in Chicago, Morton's is always a solid choice. Great service and the apps were great.

Perfect for our anniversary

We had an amazing time here. Everything was great. The service, the food, the drinks, all great. My wife and I couldn’t say enough positive things about this steakhouse. We can’t wait to return on our next visit to the city.

Elderly Brussels Sprouts

By sandie r |

An average meal - spoiled by badly cooked ageing brussel sprouts and seemingly no connection between the waiter and the kitchen. Not the best value in Chicago...Come on Morton's you need to raise your game...

Restaurant week: Very good food and service -- one catch, though

By Steigenberger592 |

We visited Morton's for Chicago restaurant week in 2016 and decided to go again for 2018 restaurant week. The food and service were very good and overall we were happy. We had one disappointment, though, which we'll discuss later. We started with the lobster bisque (which was a $3 up-charge over the $24 fixed price Restaurant Week lunch). It was quite good with a lot of lobster flavor and a rich cream sauce base. For our main courses we had the Shrimp Scampi and The ribeye steak. The shrimp was served on a bed of capellini pasta and both the shrimp and the pasta were cooked perfectly. The steak was a 9 ounce portion smothered in butter and served with mashed potatoes. It was equally good. Both dishes were more than enough for a lunch portion. For dessert we had the double chocolate mousse which was excellent. Despite the very large crowd at lunch (following two days of Siberia-like weather which had to cut into restaurant attendance), service from the kitchen was reasonably quick. Our server was friendly and attentive. Our only complaint was the pricing on our soft drinks. We were charged $4.75 each for two glasses of diet Coke, which we estimated to be about 12 ounce servings. That price rivals the highway robbery of movie theaters. Perhaps Morton's was making up for the lost revenue from its Restaurant week meal pricing? Anyway, the overall experience was good and we'd recommend Morton's. Just watch the soft drink prices.

Expensive but really good

Morton’s Steakhouse restaurant chain also has a Chicago branch - elegant Mood , friendly staff and delicious steaks - expensive but good

Service poor, food ok

By Oliver K |

Having been the evening before at Ruth & Chris (where we had great food and a superbe service), we were quite disappointed about Morton‘s. Not only did we wait for nearly an hour until food was served, the waitors did not care whether we needed drinks, bred etc. Two out of our group had to return their steak as it was not done to their level.

Great service and food

By Giuseppe M |

Amazing steaks and very good service. Not cheap but definitely worth it. The carrot cake was insanely good and huge 🙂. Will definitely eat here again if we are ever back in Chicago.

Great steak!

By RknRon |

Overall, and excellent steak restaurant in Chicago. Service is off the charts with a number of servers waiting on you at any given moment. Steaks is always our fantastic as our everything that accompanies those steaks.

Special occasion

By Natalie F |

Went for lunch during restaurant week. They regularly have a 3 course prix fixe lunch. It was a bit cheaper during restaurant week. Tomato blue cheese salad was loaded with cheese with nice thick tomato slices. French onion soup was good. Ribeye steak was ok but pretty thin cut. Mashed potatoes were just right. Wished we had a vegetable on our plate. Chocolate moose was dense but good flavor, key lime pie was very good, hot chocolate cake was excellent and came with a delicious scoop of vanilla ice cream (worth the upcharge).

Chicago ambiance, delicious dishes!

By Eleni K |

Just off the Michigan avenue and the Magnificent Mile, Morton’s is a great place for cocktails and dinner in a Chicago old days atmosphere. Business crowd, but not only. It certainly has great steaks, but we found the shrimp scampi capellini exquisite! The loaf bread with onion is the extra treat!

Fantastic!!

By John M |

My wife, youngest son, and I went to Morton's Steakhouse on Wacker to celebrate wife's birthday, and son starting law school. We could not have been more pleased with our meal. The entire experience was superb! Phenomenal service, perfectly cooked food brought out at just the right time, and an atmosphere of casual elegance. We have been to other Morton's, as well as many other upscale restaurants, but this may have set the bar at a new level!

Still lovely

By BalhamBlonde |

Throughly enjoyed yet another visit to this restaurant, this time for the husband’s 60th Birthday celebration. We were led to our table and when the menus were given to us, they were headed Happy 60th Birthday - the husband couldn’t have been more pleased (and touched) at such thoughtfulness - of course I have kept a copy and will get it framed! As ever what can you say about the food, except that its just wonderful. All staff are delightful, it’s just a really great place to go….especially when you fly in from the UK!

If I can give this place a negative star review I can ..... THE STEAK has e-coli bacteria making me fainted for 2 days .

By Judy M |

This Morton steakhouse is unbelievably horrible. Horrible food, horrible service, horrible staffs, the most important is they have a jerk manager Jeff. The only thing they care is to dig the money from your pocket and they do not care whether the food is clean, without bacteria, food really cooked through guaranteeing you that you will not get sick after you eat. I went to this place to celebrate my birthday on October 26, I ordered the Manhattan Cut. I asked medium rare as based on past experience if you order medium then they will give me a well-done that is so chewy that you cannot swallow. In Japan you can eat Kobe Beef rare, all kinds of fish rare. I never got sick by eating rare food. Make the story short. My head was so fainted and dizzy whole night long on October 26 and on October 27 I woke up as I sensed very watery poo wet in my panty. I could not get to the restroom fast enough. Took one Immodium. Went to restroom watery poo three times in a row. Took another ammonium. Don't go to this place. The steak with e-coli will kill you !!!

Standard of excellence

Big time Mortons fan, first time to this location. Didn’t disappoint. Food was everything you would expect and the service was top notch. Had one major dissapoint at the end of our meal. My wife and I like fine dining and dress accordingly. One of the things we appreciate about Mortons, however as we were finishing up with our meal they seated a coup,e of people with the pants hanging down to their knees. If Mortons has now the same dress code as Denny’s, I’ll be taking my fine dining elsewhere. Such a letdown after a perfect meal and service. Mortons deserves and should demand more respect for its self and it’s diners!!

Just plain good

Attended a conference and stopped by here for dinner. Sat at the bar and could not be happier. Service was superb and food was great. Will be back next time in town.

Outstanding service and food

By IlliniHope |

We celebrated my husband's birthday which happens to fall during Restaurant Week. I opted for the special menu and had the Caesar Salad (classic and delicious), a fillet which I upgraded with blue cheese, and Key Lime pie. My husband ordered off the menu: lobster bisque with a generous portion of lobster meat and a strip steak. He thoroughly enjoyed both. He was given a complimentary dessert and chose Creme Brulee which was scrumptious. We ended up taking home the Key Lime Pie to eat the next day and determined that is didn't stack up to the Creme Brulee. Service was attentive and made our experience a very pleasant evening.

Poor Customer Service at all Levels. Not up to Landry's Standards

By WarrenMcR |

I went to this place to celebrate my birthday on October 26, I ordered the Manhattan Cut.  I asked medium rare as based on past experience if you order medium then they will give you a well-done that is so chewy that you cannot swallow.  I ended up with sever diarrhea. Laid up two days and filed a negative review below: Meat was so bloody I had to check to see if animal was dead yet. I should have sent it back, but then chef might spit on it. I gave hostess my Landry's birthday certificate to pay the bill. She could not deal with it. Someone else did. And did not even acknowledge it is my birthday. Since I was alone, they made me sit in the loud and noisy bar. Seems dining room reserved for bigger groups? And getting through the double doors no one helped me even though wind and rain made it difficult to enter this place. The two people at the reception counter just stood like dummies. Everyone else was served bread with their meal. I had to ask for it. And now I have diarrhea. This the worst Landry's experience of my life. Manager Jeff called: 10/30 & 31 I told him I was sick for 2 days.  He responded by saying - we never have other customers complaint, you must have eaten other foods causing you sick I told him by that day all I have is water, coffee. He's calling me a liar. What I experienced was a manager so arrogant that his employees emulate his version of poor customer service. It is pervasive at every level of service I experienced at this Chicago Morton's.

Superb family dinner.

By Steve S |

We recently visited Chicago as a family group of 11 for my youngest son’s 40th Birthday. He particularly wanted to have a formal family dinner and having heard me speak of Mortons on my business trips to the city decided on this location as it was very close to our hotel. On arrival we were shown to a spacious private dining room with my son’s name printed on each menu,a thoughtful touch. Our server, who also happened to be English, introduced himself and ran us through the menu showing us the various cuts of meat on offer.Having made our choices the sommelier recommended some excellent reasonably priced accompanying wines. We all agreed the food, particularly the steaks, was superb.Between us we had several different cuts, all cooked to perfection. Finally we shared some deserts of which my cheesecake was outstanding.I would like to say a big thank you to Mortons and your excellent staff for making this such a special occasion.I’ve no doubt we’ll be back in the future.

Manager fired me from restaurant 😡😡😡

By Bella S |

I was very happy to go to Morton’s north Miami , first, I call to make a reservation , they told me the bar was first come first serve and told me not to worry and to go. When I got there the hostess told me by table at the bar was the next one available. When the hostess told me to seat down in the first table that was available, then the manager Olga Birilo came to yell at me, super rude, and told me I had to leave the restaurant. I’m furious. No one ever fired me before from any restaurant. This speaks horrible about the restaurant’s etics. They treat their customers horrible. A shame that a restaurant of this kind treat you this way. Won’t come back.

Mediocre

By Joerg S |

I was on a business trip and was by myself that night. They made you and showed you a strong dis-appreciation for a single visitor. The staff was very unattentative. Not a single time someone came by and checked if the steak was ok. Which wasn't. Ordered medium-rare+, served was rare. Fresh ground pepper i therefore never received. Why the waiter stood on my foot and not apologizing for that, i guess i will never learn... but on the other side i was told the correct pronounciation of the beer "Weihenstephaner" - LOL - my mother tongue is German as the beer is. Embarrassing.

Good steak nice service

By Gene P |

The place is conveniently located at the end of the magnificent mile. You need a reservation first of all. The place has a very nice ambiance and the service was great specially Mary our server. She was polite and jolly during her knowledgeable presentation of the menu. I ordered a porterhouse and the steak was, served medium. This was perfectly cooked to my liking, pink at the Center but not bloody. It is,soft and tender to the bite and so delicious without any gravy. A bit pricey but Nice to go back again.

Great Happy Hour

By Timothy H |

I was traveling on business and as always had dinner alone. I was walking passed Morton's and noticed their Happy Hour goes until 7pm. that's generous! Dave the bartender makes great martini and made some great suggestions off the happy hour menu; the fries and the steak trio. Fantastic.

Traditional place was disappointing this time.

By Mavilach |

Normally Morton's are good and reliable. The food this time was over processed and nothing special. To complete our lunch, a bug came out walking the walls and scare away some clients. Not expected on a place of this quality and price.

Great experience.

By jlsitler17 |

Excellent food and experience. Food was great, service was great. We were asked by managers at least 4 times how everything was.

Old Chicago ambience

By Jim C |

We wanted to visit a legendary Chicago steakhouse, and Morton's fit the bill. It's not flashy or trendy, but gave us the feeling of a local landmark that has survived for generations by providing consistent, excellent food and service. It's probably easy to find great steak in Chicago, and Morton's is no exception, but this place fit the bill of the feeling of Old Chicago we were seeking.

Good high end steak house with good service

By NewPlaceFan |

Morton's is a chain and a high end steakhouse with a wide variety of upscale cuts, appetizers, and a giant wine list. We ordered 3 appetizers: Escargots (quite good,) the scallop (fair) and prosciutto wrapped mozzarella. On the latter, this was the first time we have ever had prosciutto that was grilled or heated up, and it would have been much better cold. We ordered one porterhouse and one ribeye, both of which were very nicely done at medium rare. The side of button mushrooms and spinach were pretty bland - like from a can. The key lime pie was indeed one of the better takes on key lime pie that I have had (and I've tried it a lot of places.) They have a HUGE wine list with pages and pages of different wines, and they did have the wine we ordered. They can also make espresso. Our waitress, Bertha, was very helpful and prompt. In all, it was a fine dinner with a high price tag, and while the steaks were good, if we ate here again, we would choose different appetizers.

Excellent Meal!

By Adam B |

My steak was cooked to perfection! Great staff with excellent service. Could not have gone any better.

Traditional steakhouse

By Suzi H |

Morton’s is always a safe bet. Good food and drinks. Either Chicago location is good. Most steaks have the sides ala crate but they feed 2 people. The cream corn is my favorite. It is a bit dark in the restaurant but the atmosphere is good.

Morton’s still one of the best!

By Memo |

Since Morton’s closed in our neighborhood we travel to the Wacker Drive locale to get our steak fix. The standards remain high. Always check their website for specials. On the night we went it was Fourth of July weekend offering. Always ask the maitre de for the one-off Prix fix menu. Ruben was a real professional waiter with a sense of humor an unobtrusive attentiveness that made the service go smoothly. The steaks were cooked to perfection but no surprise there. We also got a free cocktail with the special offering. We shall return!

Excellent dinner in a beautiful setting in the center

By Louisetteloulou |

Very welcome and nice setting. Tasty and gourmet cuisine. The dishes were plentiful - for a European - we shared the starter - of the bacon Saint James then a Ribye / fake fillet for 2 had very well but hungrier for the untested desserts ). Everything was parfair: cooking, taste, sauces, seasoning, accompaniment - spinach / mushrooms and delicious puree. The wine was fine. We feasted and we really recommend the place.

Fabulous

By 45DegreesNorth |

One of the best filet mignons I have ever had, cooked to perfection. Asparagus side dish, amazing shoestrings fries, asparagus cooked just right. Lovely cocktails. Attentive service. Loved the black leather booths. This is an iconic Chicago experience. Right around the corner from our hotel, Kimpton Monaco. In town for business, I would recommend to anyone.

Awesome ribeye and filet

By Guardix |

Spent Christmas dinner there with my son and we had an amazing experience. My ribeye and my son’s filet were cooked to perfection (we like it rare) and the quality was really something special. My son was impressed by the quality of the bread served , a little detail that shows the attention to quality. Staff is very friendly and easy going despite the customers target, if not for the prices being it for everyone .. If one wants to find a weakness , it’s the light in the room. Everyone is lighting the menu lists with the mobile trying to read it in the darkness ;)

It was fabulous!

By Maysmosaics |

We had a wonderful meal with impeccable service at the Chicago location. My husband had the 12 ounce fillet mignon and I had the chicken Christopher we shared orders of chopped salad, asparagus, and sour cream, mashed potatoes. It was wonderful! Honestly, they put with Ruth Chris to shame!

Second dinner at Morton's The Steakhouse Chicago during my recent business trip.

By Paul P |

The service was good, staff was friendly and professional. But the ribeye steak and Brussel sprouts were disappointing. The taste was not as good as I had at other restaurants in Chicago. (I had so many meals with steak in Chicago this time). It was different from what I had in my previous visit.

Classic Dinner with Excellent Service

By 441trishaj |

We were staying at the Hampton Inn North Loop for SHRM18 and really didn't feel like venturing out very far after such a long day. Our server was quite attentive and quick to offer suggestions on cocktails, wine, appetizers, and entrees. The cocktails were very heavy on Hennessey offerings which isn't quite our taste, however, the food was tasty and the other cocktail offerings impressive (a bit strong) so if you don't like super boozy cocktails stick with the wine or beer.

Excellent steak house

By fanny d |

Great place in Chicago to enjoy meat. We were perfectly advised by Luis, who is smiling and professional. My meat was cooked as I like, well cooked, and it was tender and tasty.

Morton’s legendary hot chocolate cake with a hair protruding

By Mark J D |

My wife and I went for her annual Chicago restaurant week birthday dinner and all was a good experience until dessert which takes 25 minutes to prepare. My wife ordered the Morton’s legendary hot chocolate cake and when it arrived there was a hair sticking out of it. We promptly called the waiter over and explained the situation to which he removed the dessert and asked if she wanted another one but it would be another 25 minute wait. My wife reordered the dessert and we waited the extra 25 minutes, we expected a manager to come over to ask about our satisfaction with the meal but that did not happen. The only compensation for receiving a Morton’s legendary hot chocolate cake with a hair it in was not to be charged the $6 up charge because the cake was an item offered on their restaurant week menu. This will be the last time we dine at Morton’s, there is better value elsewhere.

Can’t go wrong with Morton’s

By Bahamas B |

It’s Morton’s. It’s a known quantity. Apps were great, steaks were very good, sides were ok. $300 without tip for two, with drinks and desserts. It’s pricy, but it’s a half a block off Michigan Ave. in Chicago. It’s not a world class steakhouse, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a very good place to go. I think it beats Gibsons and the Chop House. It’s quieter than those and the servers are more friendly. Management seems attentive, and although we didn’t order wine, tables around us did and the sommelier seemed attentive to them. Wine list was massive. Some people were dressed up, some were very causal. No one seemed to mind either way. The room has a modern Art Deco vibe to it. There was valet parking available on the Friday night we went. It’s a solid choice for a good steak in a steakhouse city.

Great Food

By Nan S |

We read the reviews and decided to give Morton’s a try. The reviews are right- wonderful food, nice atmosphere, and great service. We had a wonderful evening.

Cold steak ( new policy )

By hugmee |

Morton’s was the best steakhouse in the USA , but the new owners have down graded it , Prices up, service and quality down . A medium rare fillet arrives stone cold , rather than starting again with steak and sides, re cook the steak and let the sides go cold , $55 bucks for a 8 oz steak 🥩 and it goes from bad to worse . Morton’s was. A top steak place now it’s over priced , and under served , Plenty better in Chicago , Gibson’s and capital grille , Morton’s has fallen from grace

Decent. Not worth cost.

By Zackary S |

Nice restaurant. Very good and friendly service. Food was pretty decent. But at $150 for two people I don’t think the quality warrants the price.

Great steaks, great service

By EdwardV |

Morton’s is an institution in Chicago. This branch did not disappoint. The steaks were first class, sides were delicious and service was the best.

Best Steak Ever

By robwvu |

This was truly the best steak we have ever had. You can certainly tell the difference and the beef they use in the way it is cooked. The host was great. The atmosphere was superb. Unfortunately, our server had a couple large tables. In addition to our, so we had to wait quite a bit most of the evening. Other than that, the experience was wonderful.

A classic steakhouse - but we had "bar bites"

By vanos954 |

Odds are you've heard of Mortons. My review is a little different as my wife and I went for happy hour and ate in the bar off of their "bar bites" menu. We shared iceburg wedge bites, which are what they sound like, 4 bite sized, well slightly large than bite sized, blue cheese wedge salads. We also shared the parmesan truffle matchstick fries which were outstanding. Everyone else had the fries as well so apparently everyone loves them. I had the prime cheeseburger sliders which were juicy and tender served classic style on a toasted bun. My wife had the tuna tacos and said they were good, couldn't explain further than that as I don't eat fish. If you're looking for a classic steakhouse experience Mortons is supposedly the place but I much prefer the bar fare.

An absolutely divine place

By Toby M |

What an absolutely great place to eat in the city. From the moment we entered to the moment we left we were well looked after, the staff were very attentive and willing to help with everything. The steak is cooked exactly as you want it and the flavour is absolutely divine. I could not recommend it more. Be prepared for the large price tag that goes alongside this, it is worth every penny paid.

Terrific dinner

By matt willigman |

Had dinner here a week or so ago. Started with the shrimp cocktail, which was excellent. Next was the surf and turf. Steak was perfectly done and well seasoned. The lobster tail was exceptional. For my side, I had the au gratin potatoes, which were a little disappointing as the potatoes were not cooked through. Service as terrific, and restaurant was very clean. Highly recommend.

Great Steaks

By Pusztabaer |

Wanted to have a steak for lunch. And it was delivered well prepared (NY strip). Also the fries with Parmesan and truffles very thin cut and cross. My personal highlight was the red wine. I choose a glass of Merlot and the waiter did let me test two types. 1 star less as the atmosphere was very cold. I guess this should be stylish but it is not.

Fabulous!!

By jlafrentz |

My husband and I went here on a Friday evening and enjoyed every minute. The food was exceptional - we had Beef Tenderloin w/Lobster - the service was superb, and the ambience was perfect. We will definitely go back the next time we are in Chicago!

Great Steakhouse in Chicago

By helio torres |

Great restaurant for those who like meats and good wines. Correct and attentive service, fast service. I recommend.
