What a Treat!

By GlobalGypsy_13 |

Morton's makes you feel special when you're celebrating a birthday or anniversary there. It begins with your name printed on the menu that then is rolled up and presented with the photo that they take of the occasion. And the meal ends with a sweet treat compliments of the restaurant. This time I indulged in the chocolate lava cake served with raspberries and vanilla ice cream. For a special treat, go to Morton's.

The wife and I decided to

By sumoagt |

The wife and I decided to do Valentine’s day this past Saturday, we were greeted by the usual happy and polite staff and were seated towards the rear of the seating area. The main seating filled up fast. We ordered tomatoes with blue cheese and purple onions, mexican corn, bake potato which was huge, the wife had steak and lobster and I had the tasty miso chilean bass yum beyond my taste buds. The food is always excellent, tasty and beyond our expectations. Jen, our waitress was super friendly and her service was 5 Star. She knew our every needs and after we left we felt we were departing with a friend. Tim who runs the show at Mortons always makes you feel like you’re part of the experience. Thank You Mortons for always making our dining experience the best.

Great place to dine

By LasVegasfemale |

We were a party of 3 with a reservation. Had to wait less than 5 minutes to be seated. Very good service, very attentive. The filet that I had was delicious and very tender. I also had the creamed corn and the onion rings. All were very good. We did not have desert. We walked there since the person I was with lives across the street. They do have valet parking.

Always Great

By laurahQ7401JS |

Had a company dinner for 77 people and it turned out great. Every steak came out cooked just as requested, how do they do that? You could cut the filet with a fork. It ain't cheap but worth every penny.

Awesome Steakhouse!

By GemStateRoadtripers |

We arrived with a party of 8 and were promptly seated in the classy dining room. This place is know for its steaks and did not disappoint. Had the center cut ribeye that I asked for at medium rare and they hit the mark, the steak literally melted in my mouth and must admit might have been the best ribeye I've had! Lots of appetizer, salad and dessert options as well but the steaks put this place on the map. Full bar that sounded like a great place to wind up or gear down in. We will return!

Looking for beef!

By Doug B |

In town for conference and Mortons was suggested. Was looking for good steak and wasn't disappointed from the salads to dessert. Excellent food and drinks were genoerous. As a side the bartenders were entertaining, attentive and yes they work for tips. Great job guys!!! Keep it up..

Cajun Ribeye!!

By kerrycorcoran |

I can't say enough about this place. Excellent food. Excellent staff. From start to finish you will be challenged to find another steakhouse this great. My personal favorite is the Cajun Ribeye - simple perfection. The restaurant is located in the Gas Lamp District and easy walking distance from most locations in the area. Will definitely return!!

Don’t Make Me Invisible

By Mark Christopher Lawrence |

Morton's has been my favorite chain steakhouse for 20 years or so. The consistency is what keeps me coming back. No matter what city I hit them in I know what to expect. Amazing food and beverages and unparalleled customer service has been the overall qualities that have always made the dining experience at Morton's special. Whether seated in the dining room or at the often busy bar the qualities remain intact. I've always felt welcomed and appreciated! Let's face it, without that what's the point of continuing to spend my hard earned cash where I am not welcomed. I grieves need to say that my favorite spot failed miserably tonight in the customer service department. From the moment I walked through the door at about 6:15pm I felt invisible. Several staff members passed by me without so much as a hello. When finally a hostess came over and said, "Do you have a reservation?" Not hello or hi but - Do you have a reservation? I said no and explained I was alone fir dinner. She looked in her book and said "I don't have anything in the dining room before 8pm but our bar is open for the bar menu or the full menu. You are welcomed to grab a seat in there." I said asked fir the men's room so I could wash my hands. She pointed to a door across the dining room from the hostess stand and off I went. The dining room wasn't close to being full but no biggie maybe theres a rush coming and I understand. After washing my hands I passed through the dining room again into the bar and took one of the five empty seats. There were three bartenders behind the bar doing their thing and at some point all of them made eye contact with me yet said nothing. After about 6 minutes of sitting there one of them finally said, "What can I get you to drink?" To which I replied, "I would like to see a menu. I don't. Want to end up as the drunken party guest." I he pointed it that the drink menu was near me and then placed a dinner menu on the bar and disappeared. I quickly perused the menu and decided upon a Ceasar salad and a ribeye... After about three minutes I checked my watch to see how long it would take to have my order taken. Seven minutes later a different bartender asked, "What can I get you?" I said a Ceasar salad with extra anchovies and a bone-in ribeye medium rare. He said, "What are you drinking?" I said old fashioned he said "house?" I said Sure. As he walked away a couple sat next to me and the original bartender came and took their drink and appetizer orders and made their drink then and there. They were friendly and actually shared a truffle onion ring with me. Before my drink got to me the couple had their drinks and some of that delicious bread in front of them. I am now feeling a little left out but I'm ok. Finally my drink was made and it was good as I sipped waiting for bread to curb my hunger but the bread never came. The couple received their gorgeous appetizer and began to dig in as my Ceasar salad arrived. I said, "Thank you may I please have some bread?" He said "oh bread! I'll be right back." No offer of fresh cracked pepper or inquiry of whether or not and he disappears. As I'm eating my salad (which seems smaller than usual) the young woman of the couple and I talk about anchovies and I notice that the lettuce isn't cold but the dressing does not disappoint. A few bites in the bread arrives and I slice myself a hunk and slather it with the delicious butter. By the time I finish the salad my steak arrives via a runner and he informs the bartender that I need a fork and he gives me one. I then slice into a perfectly fired medium rare ribeye. The bartender never asked if I need anything else before he walked away. I finish my drink and take another bite of steak and I need a little salt and also some Worcestershire sauce but the bartenders were getting busy and I sit patiently trying to catch one of their eyes it to know avail and finally one of them says. "Do you need something?" I asked for the Worcestershire and he went and got it. Then I had zero interaction with the bartenders until I was done eating and sitting there trying to get their attention so o could pay and leave. I joked with the young lady next to me that I was feeling invisible and that I had to ask for everything. She said, "I noticed that." Finally I blurted out can I get a check please and the nearest bartender told another bartender and I was given my guest check. I got into my vehicle at 8:03pm after arriving at 6:15pm. A little long for dining alone but the feeling of been invisible stuck with me as I walked to my car because no one said thank you or come again or anything. Truly not my usual experience at Morton's. I'm a creature of habit and will most likely be heading back there but I hope management sees this and takes the opportunity to discuss customer service with the staff. I see this as a teachable moment.

Excellent food ( as always ) average service!

By joselito1959 |

You can always count on great steaks and food at Morton's. Disappointed that the service was " average"'. The service at this restaurant did not meet the standards of what Morton's high quality is all about. Morton's is know for the "wow" service . Not the case at all at this location on this time for dinner. Sunday night at 6:00 pm . They were very busy but seems that they did not have enough servers to take care of the customers . They even had a mistake on our dinner order where by the time they brought the steak to one of my guest on the table , we had all finished our dinner. Not a good thing. The shrimp cocktail was fabulous and gorgeous presentation. The "new" bacon steak ( thick strips of bacon in a sweet glaze) for appetizer was fabulous. Must dip the bread in the sauce. The steaks- bone in ribeye were cooked to perfection. The mushrooms, creamed corn , grilled asparagus and sour cream mashed potatoes was also great ( as always). Again, very disappointed with the slow and indifference service that we got on this location.

Awful service at the bar

By mrsandiegoca |

We live about a block away from Morton’s and we usually go to the bar. This last time we went about 2 weeks ago and we got what seems like a new server at the bar which was awful. It was a young guy with long hair like surfer type. We had to ask the other server, Tim, to switch with him. We also asked Tim not to share the tip with the other server at the bar. Last time I also had a bad service experience but that was at the restaurant. Management needs to hire better staff. Or Morton’s needs to hire better managers.

Not what it used to be

By Monij V |

Service wasn't very good, waiter was rude and quality of food wasn't what it used to be, this used to be my favorite steakhouse in San Diego, not anymore.

Disappointed

By Andry |

I was expected to enjoy the best dinner of my trip to San Diego at Morton's but something went wrong. I booked in advance to avoid any surprise. Just arrived and they made me seat at a table without white tablecloth in front of the drinking area usually used for this purpose. I ordered a bone in ribeye, rare: the meat itself was of excellent quality but completely cold inside and served on a really not warm plate. I ate it but disappointed of unexpected treatment received in one of the best steakhouse brand all over US

Steakhouse

By Padraig_JHB |

Went their last night with friends waiter some time for them to seat us we were 7 service good and pleasant wine list good and the steaks were excellent

Worth every bite

By Luis |

Me and the wife decided on Morton's based on recommendations, and it delivered. I made reservations and we were seated right away even when arriving 15 minutes early. Our server (Mike) was so attentive and gave us great information on the food. Everything came out fairly quick and tasted great. My steak was slightly over cook but not too bad, now the lobster mac and cheese made up for it, my god it was delicious. We will definitely be back when visiting SD.

Seasonal Specials

By GlobalGypsy_13 |

For a fine dining experience with excellent, attentive service, go to Morton's that's more than a steakhouse. I especially enjoy their seasonal specialities, such as the current Summer menu that includes a starter, main, sidedish and desert. The mains included chicken, filet mignon, salmon or shrimp on an antipasto salad. If you use validated valet parking and pay your parking fee ($15.00) with your bill, your car will be waiting at the entrance when you exit.

Not what it used to be.

By Tishlf |

Morton´s San Diego used to be my favorite steak house. In fact, I had previously rated this place very highly. Unfortunately, it´s not what it used to be. Where should I start? it took longer than usual to be waited on; my champagne was tepid, the service lacked efficiency; the waiters were a bit forgetful; the food quality was not excellent and our steaks were not cooked to perfection. The whole place was refurnished and the acoustics were terrible. My husband and I had to speak quite loudly and we could listen to other people´s conversations. Briefly, we were very disappointed. We will never be back. We will just try to hold on to the good memories. Morton is not the same ever since it became a part of the Landry´s chain. Never again.

Great meal

By Thor Anders A |

As we had not had a decent steak we took a safe choice and chose this familiar spot. The steaks were very good. Service was was very good. The only drawback was the high noise level inside. It was really hard to communicate.

Excellent Steak & Great Wine

By Ianos4U |

Invited at Morton’s for dinner, very good for business groups or meetings. Excellent food (awesome steaks), excellent wine (Napa) and service. Obviously, it is not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. (Our host new what he was doing and we renewed the contract). Recommended.

Good lunch experience

By Angelica S |

My husband, daughter, and I had a very nice lunch at Morton's for Father's Day. We have been at Morton's many times and appreciate the quality of the food and the ambiance. Anyhow...Morton's had a good promotion for Father's Day. We had reservations and were seated right away. Our server "A O" was efficient and friendly. We ordered lots of food. We had 2 Filet Mignons, Prime Manhattan cut steak, iceberg wedge, onion soup, key lime pie, chocolate souffle, 3 martinis, 1 margarita, au gratin potatoes, baked potato, and a creme brulee. Everything was delicious. Total price without the tip was $272.62. Not too bad considering it was a lot of food. I would definitely return if there is an other promotion. We had a good time and would recommend this restaurant 100%. If you are a tourist..beware that parking is sometimes difficult to find in downtown San Diego. There is valet parking with the restaurant and a parking lot across the street. Another tip-if you bring your own wine-prepared to pay 35.00. The collection of Morton's wines and cocktails are expensive..so you might consider bringing your own wine.

Service Very Bad, Food goid

By Jrstwo |

Tonight is was about service. We told them we were in a hurry so don't give us the romantic meal time. Got the slow service time. Understand the cooking to protection but 30 minutes in between salad & steak. As always the food is very good the Salmon if cooked 60 minutes came out great. Again it was about the service we asked to move the food as we were in a hurry. It took the same 2:30 as when I enjoyed the slow service. Not happy.

Great Steak

By amybandersen |

In a group of about 20. All cattle raisers from Wisconsin. Naturally we all ate beef and everyone raved about his/her steak. The sides are awesome served family style. A salad and bread comes with the steak. You wouldn't have to order the sides if you are a purist and just enjoy a steak and a salad with bread. Either way, it is way too much food, but it is very good. Service is near flawless.

Great Happy Hour

By ABBaptiste |

We had heard a lot about the Happy Hour at Morton's, so we decided to try. We started with drinks, and my Margarita was fabulous, made with fresh lime juice. We then had the Filet Mignon sandwiches, Ahi Tacos, and Wedge Salad bites, which were delicious. Next, we ordered the Crab, Artichoke and Spinach Dip and Cheeseburger Sliders. Fabulous! Prices are good and service was first class. Looking forward to going back!

$30 unauthorized Tip

By AXR |

On May15,2022 at the San Diego Morton’s on J St we dined for our anniversary . The bill was $193.95. We left a cash tip of $40 (2 twenty dollar bills). I checked my bank statement the next day and saw there was a charge of $223.95. Someone took the liberty of adding an ADDITIONAL $30 tip that was totally unauthorized. There is no mistaking that there was no additional tip as the word “CASH” was written on the tip line. I contacted Morton’s immediately. They said it was likely a mistake and said they are going to refund my money. They still haven’t . This is their fault 100% and they are dragging their feet returning my money. Took no time to withdraw it. It’s been 8 days and they should have been calling and apologizing and returning my money immediately after they realized what happened. Police report now filed.

Best fine dining in the desert

By Dennis C |

Mortons has been our favorite fine dining restaurant for years. This Mortons location won't disappoint you.....great food and excellent service are the reasons why it is our favorite spot in the desert. We took advantage of their 3 course summer special....excellent value and several menu choices are included. Their happy hour is awesome. Happy hour choices include a variety of drinks and appetizers size food. Management is always attentive but not intrusive. If you looking for a nice evening out with good food and great service, Mortons is the place to be.

Great Steak

By Turista2000 |

I love the Porterhouse and they know how to cook it very well the term, temperature was amazing. The service was good even though I was seated at the bar due to it was Fathers day and I did not made a reservation, I was early and many tables were available I had to watch a soccer game while having dinner. The bartenders were gentle and of great company!

Top Drawer Service & Food

By T D |

I don’t normally mention the contract valet parking when reviewing restaurants. However, Morton’s valet parking line was moved into the traffic lane when the city recently installed a two-lane bike lane curbside. This created a close call when a vehicle coming from 2nd Ave had to make a quick swerve to avoid hitting the attendant and myself as I was existing my car. He was going too fast and probably distracted. Use extra care as you turn over your keys. The host station’s impression was slightly devalued by the male and female behind the podium continued their personal conversation for a five-count as we waited. Once they greeted us, they were superb. Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu and patient with one of our party new to a steakhouse. For the remainder of the meal, the service was exceptional, with isolated gaps. Refillable drinks were not monitored. At least ten minutes passed between empty and the question of a refill for water and soft drinks. Coffee was the most delayed. Over 15 minutes elapsed without any refills. The busboy was called over and promised refills right away. Over five minutes later, our server rushed over with the coffee carafe. The busboy passed by our table twice before the server delivered the coffee. Mr. Reed, don’t you trust your support staff to serve hot drinks? The food, from the appetizers to the desserts, were expertly prepared and plated. Our table ordered a range of entrées, all of which were flavorful and of the best quality. The seafood was fresh and free from any foreign flavors. The various cuts of beef served to our table enjoyed all the characteristics of the Prime grade. Our server guided each of our party to the dessert meeting our individual tastes. It was nice to enjoy in-house made products, each with a distinct and rich flavor. For example, the Double Chocolate Mousse had a deep and complex chocolate essence in a dense mousse. It was the first time I felt I got my money’s worth from a mousse dessert. I do miss the old days of Morton’s server pushing out a trolley loaded with fresh cuts of raw beef and seafood for your selection. Still, we had a very enjoyable experience and look forward to our next visit.

Class, service, convenience, know how

By Scott C |

Nice location for meeting after work or for a friendly rendezvous. Met with co-worker and sat at the corner of the bar. Staff was there when you wanted them, and not when you didn't. Prompt service...they watch their levels well. The buzz in the place was just right. Friendly over 35 crowd that was having just as good of time as we were. We had the steak sandwiches and they of course were spot on. I would highly recommoned. Prking lot kitty corner to the entrance. Safe neighborhood.

Table of six

By Alb48 |

Six adults and we all agreed that this was the best meat we ate in San Diego. Excellent grilling, great service, side dishes and salads very good and wine list, for us, with wide range. Would go back

Pretty disappointing

By Tina L |

Known the place for a good steakhouse for awhile but never been there so decided to try it for the first time when visiting San Diego. The food was pretty disappointing. Good part was there was no wait time on a Friday night. We walked right in without a reservation. Location was right at the Gaslamp Quarter so it was very convenient. Each table is too close to each other in my opinion but overall the restaurant has a good ambience for a date night. We ordered oyster on a half shell for appetizer and it was not very good. The oysters tasted room temperature and doesn’t taste very fresh. We ordered a filet mignon 6 oz and a 10 oz NY prime Manhattan, both rare plus. When it came out the plates weren’t hot at all and the meat tastes room temperature. Felt like we were eating beef tartare. The center should be pink and rare but the outer portion should still be hot or at least warm. We order the jumbo asparagus and it was not jumbo at all. And the taste of vinegar is a bit too much to our taste. But their bread is very good. It came out just from the oven and you can still see the steam when you cut the break in half. The taste is amazing. Lastly we ordered the cream brûlée for dessert and it was not good at all. The cream was watery which was very weird. It was not warm or cold. The temperature of our entire meal was off. Will not be back for sure. So far the Capital grille in Costa Mesa & Mastro are still on the top of our list for steakhouse.

Best place EVER!!!

By Contra0817 |

I've tried pretty much all the major steakhouse in SD. Donovan's, Fleming's, Ruth's Chris. This is still the best one. So much so I usually go here at least once a month with my wife. the service is always excellent and the meals are incredible. I have never had a bad experience at this location. Even when I bring my 5 kids the staff is always patient with me and accommodating. Everyone is professional and nice from the Valets, hostess, buss boy, waiter/waitress, to managers. Its always a pleasure to come here and enjoy a great meal. The one time I was disappointing with my meal I got another pronto. This is the best steakhouse in my opinion not only because of the food, but because of the service. Thanks Rudy, Tim, Marcus, Karen, and Dana.

Good Night at Morton's

By Tom S |

Always enjoy dining at Morton's and Morton's San Diego was no exception. Professional staff, steak cooked to order and solid wine selection.

Great steak and oysters

By emilybotsford |

Quite expensive but unbelievably good steak. Our waiter was friendly, if a bit intense, and the ambience was great. The oysters were excellent too.

A Very Good Meal!

By flalove2travel |

There is a very nice bar area, where you can enjoy drinks and dinner as well. We requested and were seated in a booth, which provided a little more privacy. It was a quiet night there, so service was good throughout the meal. The food was good as well, including the appetizers of wedge salad, crabmeat cocktail, and onion soup; the entrees of cajun ribeye and the regular ribeye, and the side dishes of fries, mac and cheese, and spinach and mushrooms. If you are in the area, enjoy a nice dinner.

Simply put this is an amazing place.

By fadetoblack19 |

I booked a table here for my wife's birthday. First and foremost I received a call from them asking my wife's name so they could print custom menus to celebrate my wife's birthday. From the moment we walked in the door we were treated as though we were the most important people there. Our waiter was amazing as well, gave us great recommendations on appetizers and entrees. They continued their outstanding service by coming by and taking a birthday picture of us for my wife. The food was some of the best I have ever eaten. I have to say that it is in the top two favorite for steak in San Diego. I would recommend that if anyone has a chance to eat here that they try it, I doubt they would be disappointed. I know that when given the chance we will go back for the service and the delicious food.

Always Good

By GlobalGypsy_13 |

As the current Covid-19 lockdown in San Diego precludes patio dining, we're again treating ourselves to take-away from Morton's. Although delivery is available, going downtown to pick up a delicious dinner feels more like a "date night". It's easy to double park in front at a selected time and an employee will deliver the food to your car. Their to go specials, such as prime burgers, sirloin steaks, and surf 'n turf, are good value.

Delish dinner.

By FayeCooke |

My birthday at Morton's was amazing. The new seafood platter is very good. My friends and I shared the 22 ounce juice Mortons's steak. Easy location to get to, valet parking, great team, and beautiful atmosphere.

Shame about the crowd...

By AnnandWinnie |

A 5:30 booking for 2 turned to 4... Proportionately, this should not have been an issue. But a fully packed house within the 30 minutes thereafter turned a relaxed night into 4 rushed cold sides, precooked pork chops and an unhappy table. Partly due to short staff issues, yes. But 2 tables of more than 12 persons was a stretch to expect every other loyal customer to enjoy.... But we will return, as Mortons is one of our favorites....

Best Steakhouse in San Diego!

By DavidUmstot |

Visited Morton's in San Diego for the first time tonight and was thoroughly impressed by the quality of cuisine throughout (appetizers, steaks, seafood, sides and dessert). A wide variety of quality wines are also offered and the sommeliers can cater to your specific tastes and price points. The wait staff was attentive, courteous and personable. An overall wonderful experience!

Good but cistky

By kevin s |

Excellent restaurant but still very pricey and personally a bit expensive for the portions. Paying for the name. The steaks are wonderful and service very good but for the money there really are better places. Just not wowed enough to keep coming back for $200-$400 meals.

Perfect Place for a Good Steak

By Hugh D |

We hadn't been to a Morton's in a long time but this one was so close to our hotel in San Diego and we were up for a steak dinner and were not disappointed. The service was impeccable with all the staff working as a team. The restaurant acknowledged our Anniversary and later comped our dessert. We had a simple meal with Caesar salad, Filet Mignon with cognac pepper sauce, cooked to perfection and Matchstick Parmesan & Truffle Fries. We will not wait as long to visit a Morton's again.

Power Hour Monday

By Capayrancher |

Checked TA reviews and made decision for Bar Bites power hour. There seemed to be a consistency regarding too much noise coming from the bar. We arrived shortly after 5P and had no problem with bar seating. At this time the restaurant was close to empty and bar had a few people. We were immediately seated and our waiter (JB) came right over with proper menus and suggestions. We chose tuna tacos and filet mignon trio. Very good and a bargain at $8 each. My wife had happy hour martini and I had a Heineken. We still were a little hungry and had I had steak tacos and she had truffle French fries. That filled us up. The bar was mostly full but not very noisy but the restaurant tables were filled. Apparently the reviews about noisy bar did not accurately describe where the noise was coming from. The close table to table seating in the restaurant part was where the sound level or din was high enough normal conversation would have been difficult. Again it was not noisy in the bar but acoustics in dining area made conversation difficult. Great place for power hour, reasonable prices, good service, and great appetizers made this a very good choice. We will return. Ask for JB he's terrific.

Perfect place for special occassions or a classy happy hour.

By 582jeff |

This is an old-school steak house with excellent service, great food, and commensurate prices. Happy hour is a great deal with fine dining.

Mixed. Some things outstanding. Some not

By John |

Overall enjoyable but way too expensive. Best strip steak I've tasted for ages. So tender and really tasty and I usually buy all my steak from a specialist butcher including Kobe etc so I know a great steak. This was awesome. The sides were a disappointment. The Chicago style horseradish potatoes were not hot enough and at the price should have been. The broccoli had Parmesan cheese on it. They did replace it but the new one was barely cooked and almost broke my jaw it was so understeamed. Other half's fillet was only so so. Lacking flavour. The salad was covered in blue cheese which wasn't listed as an ingredient and is a love or hate thing. In our case hate. We had the special offer red wine at $99 which was a great 2012 Anderson Valley red. The problem is that for one course with a salad, potatoes and broccoli and a tip it was $300. That's way too much in my humble opinion no matter how great the strip steak was.

Fine Dining+++

By GlobalGypsy_13 |

Morton's is our go-to place for special occasions -- birthdays, anniversaries -- when they give you a special flan for dessert gratis, provided a personalized menu, and take a photo of the happy occasion. It also has various promotions throughout the year, such as the current 40th year anniversary celebration for Morton's in mid-January, with a 3 course dinner from a set menu with choices for $40.00. However, any day of the year you'll find an extensive wine list, fine dining, and excellent, attentive, but not overbearing, service. Although steak is featured in various sizes, I've enjoyed the lobster tails, scallops, salmon and sea bass here as well as huge pork chops and chicken. Valet parking is available at a slightly lower charge than the public parking lot across the street ($15.00 nighttime minimum).

Feasting

By GlobalGypsy_13 |

Although we usually avoid red meat , Morton's the Steakhouse is our go to place for a fine dining experience. They have impeccable service, linen tablecloths as well as seafood and other meat selections (chicken, pork). Valet parking is available as well as at street meters and in a nearby parking lot. Their seasonal specials are a very good value, and the portions are large.

Amazing food; great atmosphere; good staff; Win win win

By Paul O |

Dinner for 3 at Mortons. I had jumbo Shrimp cocktail and filllet steak. the shrimp came out on a bowl of dry ice which was pretty cool. the steak was just melty; and tender and perfectly cooked. they have creamed spinach and potato sides that are amazing. I pinched someone else's salmon and it was really good too. The setting is of deco style, and really high quality if a little dark when you come inside. Highly recommended for surf and/or turf!!

VEGAN at a 5-Star Steak House

By Dave P |

People might get a kick out of the fact that a Vegan of 33 years is writing this. I found it very easy to eat here and the waiter was extremely helpful. The other two in my party were meat & fish eaters and certainly din't have a problem.

Very good

By ETNfamily3 |

As always this chain does not fail to perform. My filet was cooked to perfection. Our sides of creamed spinach, brussel sprouts, button mushrooms, lyonnaise potatoes were all excellent. We splurged for the molten cake for dessert and it was very rich and very good.

Great dinner

By Ruggero57 |

I've visited all the Morton's steakhouse in USA cities I've been. This in San Diego is one of the best. Great meat: ribeye, cajun and filet mignon, perfectly cooked as requested. What about the desserts: wow!!!!! Cheesecake and Hot chocolate cake delicious. Good choice of wine. If you can afford it (it's expensive)....go and try!!!!!!!!!!!

Very slow service but good flavors

By Ana Pau M |

I decided to go with my family at night and we arrived one hour before closing. My father ordered a drink and they never brought it. The service was really bad however, the food was really good. I recommend the crab cakes and the NY steak. They were excellent.

Good overall service

By acelera00 |

Food quality up to their standards. However they had more customers than they could handle. So that made waiting time longer. However our steaks were great and the chocolate desert was fabulous

Amazing food

By kellyab0143 |

The food here was absolutely amazing, a little pricey, but well worth it they. the portions were decent. the drinks were definitely worth it. only thing that I did not like was the lighting was a little dark-wish it was a little brighter in there

Morton's was our go to place in Dallas, but surprisingly this location is rather average

By David W |

Back in Dallas, Morton’s was one of our go to places – Restaurant Week, Christmas Eve, special occasions, etc. We waited too long this month to make a reservation so didn’t think we’d get in during RW. However, we got busy yesterday and missed lunch so decided an early dinner would work out and we were able to get in with a 5pm reservation. As has become our expectation, the service was quite attentive after we were seated. It did take a little longer than usual to get our wine considering it was so early in the evening and not busy. However, just being picky on that point. One knock, and that might be just because we hadn’t had lunch and were hungry, it took way too long (having been seated over 20 minutes and probably 10 minutes after receiving our wine) to get some bread. Now I don’t know if that had something to do with dining right as their doors open, and didn’t negatively impact our overall evening, but when you see tables that had been sat much later than us already having their bread, well…….. My wife got the chopped salad which was good but not great and I got the onion soup which was better than some but surprisingly not as good as most. The onion soup I got the night before at the 94th Aero Squadron was better. The annoying thing was that this cup of soup filled to the brim had no saucer under it – imagine how difficult it is to cut through with a spoon gooey melted cheese on the bread layer without the soup oozing over the side onto the white tablecloth. I can confirm that it cannot be done, and when the empty cup is taken away after being as careful as possible with a large brown stain on the tablecloth, makes you feel like a 2-year-old in a high chair. My wife got the pork chop which was quite good. I got the filet which I ordered medium rare, which came out medium, although in the very center the last couple of bites were medium rare (surprised no one came to ask if our steaks were cooked to our liking) and both really needed some salt. In fact, that was a theme for the evening – a relative lack of seasoning. Also, was surprised that the horseradish mashed potatoes were just lukewarm. The key lime pie and the crème brulee were very good to close out the evening. In closing, in general it was a good solid dinner (not great and definitely not amazing) and we very much enjoyed the evening. However, we’ve found some other places here in San Diego where the steaks and overall service are just as good or better for roughly half the price. May still be our go to place when we visit family and friends in Dallas, but probably not here.

Consistent & Safe Feasting

By GlobalGypsy_13 |

After the Covid-19 lockdown began in San Diego, we've been enjoying take-out from Morton's. As we prefer takeaway to delivery (both are offered), we've enjoyed many juicy burgers and fries meals as well as surf & turf dinners. Their quality is consistent, and the price is right, if you order one of their specials. We continue to enjoy a take-away feast safely and happily on our own patio.

Great food, good service, mediocre value

By Kyholland |

Great food, good service, so so value. Location near our hotel was attractive. Ribeye and chicken dishes were great. Service and food wasn’t timed as well. Nice staff, but trying to be sophisticated, and not. Would not choose next time.

Good food in downtown

By Merling |

Fine dinner that also was served nicely, all was tasty, everything from salad, main course to desert was delicious.

Great food and fantastic service.

By Anthrax61 |

The food is what you would expect from a high-end steak house. Yes the prices are expensive, but the quality is outstanding. The service was extraordinary when we were there on a Thursday night. Hostess was great, manager stopped by and was great, our server Dana was exceptional. Worth it.

Not as good as I had hoped

By morteight |

I liked the outlet in Palm Desert. but this one fell short. The first impression was very bad. The place was bedlam, and there was no quiet alcove to get away from it I came for the two pound lobster special. But it was far from the best lobster I have had. In addition it had not been prepared adequately in the kitchen, so I had to send it back so I could access the meat. I expect a lot more from Morton's.

Great steak and service

By Brenda O |

Best steak in town. Don't waste your money at Donovan's. I loved their side dishes. Our server was very personable and engaging. The staff worked as a team and were very accommodating. Also liked the bread. Only negative was the women's restroom needed some extra attention.

Great

By Fdrl L |

Great place, a little dark but awesome food. Steaks, potato and drinks were great. Atmosphere was good for a night out.

Always a great place to dine

By SoCalGuy01 |

Everything is fantastic! The steaks are done to perfection and the sides are huge. Great wine list! Wonderful place for a romantic evening. Plan to spend some money though.....

Top Notch Service and Wonderful Food

By FieldCrestRiverDown |

We visited Morton's with clients while in San Diego for a conference. The location is extremely convenient to the convention centre and the principal hotels, is quiet and has impeccable service. Our group ended up being slightly smaller than anticipated and the staff cheerfully reorganized the table to make it more conducive for conversation. A very dependable choice and one that you can be assured will be a hit with guests!

One of the best steakhouse I have ever been to

By A Y |

Morton's steakhouse is located off the busy fifth street. It is classy restaurant and seems to be very popular. However, as always, the classier the place the more expensive it is. I ordered a mignon steak along with spinach mashroom and very well done mashed cauliflower cheese dish. The steak was very nicely seasoned and very well cooked. It melts in your mouth. The cauliflower dish was unique one. The atmosphere of the restaurant was quiet and very relaxing. The only negative thing was the fact that you had to wait for waiter manager twice (once to get me a meanie when I chose to sit outside and another I was hoping to get my iPhone charged). But the waiter on the table was pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu I would definitely come back

Good Treat

By GlobalGypsy_13 |

Since our last birthday celebration here, Morton's in the historic gaslamp/stingray area of San Diego has reconfigured their interior. Gone are the old booths, but in is a bar that opens both to the entrance and the dining room. Thus, I'd request a seat away from the bar area as there is little to absorb the noise (unless you like the hubbub). Also, new to me are seafood selections -- the sampler sized "ocean baked" suited non-meat eaters in our party with small appetites, the baked halibut swam on a bed of pesto (quite tasty) for our fish eater, and the 14 oz. Porterhouse Steak satisfied our meat eater. Our group of 4 also enjoyed sharing two desserts -- the double chocolate mouse and the creme boulee; both had rasperries as garnish. For a special, memorable occasion with good service, go to Morton's The Steakhouse.

In top 3

By bajajulio |

Great steak place in town. In the top 3 . I will let you fill in the other 2. Classy digs with a great atmosphere. Much livelier than other 2. Shrimp cocktail is u-10 size. That's big. Dinosaur cut (double T bone) is massive. NY & Fmignon are my choice.

Food good; service not so much.

By weekendgetaways010 |

This restaurant is beautiful and located right near several local hotels. The food was delicious. Steak was perfect, sides were excellent, and dessert was a great treat. I was just surprised at the mediocre service. Usually places like this have the best wait staff. Our waiter was slow, not responsive, and didn't offer to refill my drink. Disappointing for such a nice place.

excellent as always

By Tobias Wittebrock |

super friendly and fast service, brilliabt food cooked to perfection. i recommend the crab cake, porterhouse for two, filet mignon.

Three salads at a steakhouse

By Mary R |

Went with two other women, we were just looking for a place to get a quick bite, while in town for a conference. Went into Morton’s and each ordered a salad. Server was very gracious, even though we were not ordering the usual high priced meals. My salad, which they made for my dietary restrictions was excellent! We all loved our meal and finished it off with a delicious creme brûlée! Loved it!

Anniversary diappointment

By MsWiley57 |

Came here for 1st time for our anniversary. Took our severs recommendation and ordered the Chicago cut Ribeye steak, and appetizers. The steak was cooked to order med-rare but lacked flavor. It was just ok. For 60 bucks I expected much better. The Palms is closed now in San Diego, but I could have paid $40 for a much better experience. Server was great but food just so so. Will not go back.

overpriced

By hydrostaticman |

Steak was tasty and tender. Not worth 50 bucks. The rest of the meal was ok. You can get the same for much less at other places

An experience so horrible that it ended being comical

By Adrian GV |

It was an experience so horrible that it ended up being comical. I visited Morton’s in San Diego with my family on Christmas Eve. We’ve been going to various Morton’s locations for years, from Miami to Las Vegas, and we had never had such a disappointing experience. From the moment we arrived, the service was indifferent. The hostesses greeted us with smiles that felt more like desperation than a warm welcome. We were seated at a wobbly table so tilted that the silverware kept sliding to the floor. We ordered a first round of drinks, which took 30 minutes to arrive — this in a restaurant that wasn’t even 30% full. We mentioned to the waiter that we were interested in wine, but he never came back to take our order or offer any recommendations. When he finally returned, we decided to skip the wine altogether and go straight to ordering food because of how slow and disinterested the service was. We ordered a Wagyu steak that was mediocre at best and Caesar salads that took another 30 minutes to arrive. When it became impossible to stay at the wobbly table, we moved ourselves to another table since no one came to address the obvious issue. We waited yet again for service, but no one came. Eventually, I had to get up myself to find the waiter to order dessert so we could leave. We paid $530 for the most mediocre dinner we’ve ever had. It’s sad to see a restaurant with Morton’s reputation fall to such a level of neglect, especially on Christmas Eve, a night when families seek to create memorable experiences.

Seafood Delights

By GlobalGypsy_13 |

Despite its reputation for fabulous steaks, we prefer seafood and are happy with Morton's. Although the selection is small, the quality is high. This time we shared both a crab appetizer and then twin lobster tails (a current Lenten Friday night special); another option is a shrimp cocktail. As always, the service was flawless and white linen tablecloths sparkled.

Our favourite restaurant in San Diego!!!

By S_family2011 |

We ate at Morton’s to celebrate our anniversary. All we could say was “Wow!!” What an amazing experience. The service is impeccable and the food was cooked to perfection. Order the filet and lobster tail along with the creamed cauliflower as well as the key lime pie. You won’t be disappointed!! Absolute perfection.

Not worth the hype

By Alex K |

Well known steakhouse but a bit disappointed. The steaks were not prepared to our liking. The prices are too high for the quality. Next time will look elsewhere.

Great Happy Hour

By UKStevieH |

Went for the fillet sandwiches and was not disappointed. Even though you are eating and drinking very cheaply for such a fancy place if you take a table in the bar area you still get the same waiter service as in the restaurant. Highly recommended with great wine by the glass selection.

Worst service!!!

By Maite Lopez |

The food is great, The service is The worst!!! We had to wait for more than 3 hours to get our meal!!! We visit often this Restaurant but have never had such bad service, its a very expensive place to receive such atention!!! If you want to go, you must be very patience. Good luck

Great

By OLaWi |

we have had a seafood platter and porterhouse steak. Nice indeed. The dining room could be a bit more cosy, the bar is great, too. Will come again

Best Steak House In San Diego

By Bert_Ayala |

Never mind all of the rest of the so called steak houses in town. The best hands down is Morton’s. We are VIP customers but never pull the card. So if you love a great tasting juicy steak do not go anywhere else. They also have a great Happy Hour with Prime Burger meal that is awesome.

A good solid Mortons

By Donald H |

While some people here complained about noise and service, I didn't find it dramatically inferior to any other Mortons. It is a package product, and a good one. Had their marvelous wedge salad, then a combination small filet and lobster tail that was done exactly as requested. The key lime pie never fails to impress. I always forget how much I dislike their grilled asparagus--I have to remember that the balsamic on it never pleases me and I should avoid. But that was my mistake. A fine meal as usual.

Mortons birthday night

By sumoagt |

The wife and I celebrated her birthday at our favorite restaurant. We were immediately seated by Jasmine who was a very pleasant young lady at a nice booth with soft music in the background and a card on our table wishing the wife on having a Happy Birthday. We had a few drinks where Fernando Canseco kept our glasses full with a pleasant smile. Our server Cory who we’ve had before with his bubbly personality and sharp memory knew the drinks we would enjoy and served us with their famous hot onion loaf with soft butter. We ordered the seafood tower with yummy oysters, crab, lobster, seared tuna and jumbo shrimp. We also ordered a giant loaded bake potato and 12 oz fillet mignon, oh was it so tender you could cut it with a feather and juicy. So tasty!!! Cory was outstanding and kept us smiling throughout the evening. Thank You Samantha for another enjoyable evening and making Donna’s birthday a most memorable day.

Very good, great wines..

By kwo911turbo |

As with all Morton's it's about the steaks. I was there with several others for a business meeting/dinner. This is not a place you can afford as a hangout unless to have a thick wallet. Our dinner started with appetizers and then we picked out some steaks. By the time our food arrived we were ready. We selected a couple of California ( Jordan )cabernets that were great with out meal. It ended with some deserts and we were ready to be carried out of the place. I will be back the next time in town for sure.

High end but worth it

By Craig V |

Group of us came for dinner on last night of a long business trip. Restaurant was not busy and we got a table immediately. Water served and drinks orders taken while we looked at the menu. Drinks took a little while, but not too bad. They then took the order for appetisers but not entrees - which seemed odd to me. Starters arrived and were very generous portions and super quality - but only then did they take the order for the main courses. This inevitably meant there was a delay before our mains arrived and while this was not a problem to us, it was just a little too long in my opinion. Food was great - again generous portions and excellent quality. Although I did not have a dessert, many in our party did - and that again took quite a long time to arrive. Drinks were being replenished regularly but the delays between the courses was just a little to long for my liking. I repeat though that that the food was excellent and the service was also friendly and good.

General Manager

By Fernando T |

The service is terrible and the Manager has no EDUCATION !!! The stakes were cooked completely different to what we ordered and the taste was of a $5 dollar steak. Don’t go!!!!

Not a bad steak house for a chain

By 547nickf |

good food and service, they have a nice wine selection and know how to handle large groups and still get hot food out to everyone.

Possibly unlucky because it was Sunday night

By Huracan1955 |

I am a regular at many Mortons Steak houses around the U.S. and other parts of the world, however, this one was just OK. Food in general was plain. I hope they fix it. Won't be coming back soon.

Birthday Celebration

By standards21 |

My first trip was Saturday, March 21 my birthday. The service was very nice, but my food was great!!! I had the 8 oz filet mignon & my husband had the 16 oz Cajun steak. Our food was tender and awesome. I will be going back soon, but closer to Los Angeles.

Nice restaurant. Good meal!

By Rachel M |

Nothing to complain about. Normal Morton's quality and ambience. We had great service and the food was good.

The trip's 1 disappointment

By Tom V |

From the start, the service was great, almost too great, as they seemed to push what they wanted you to order, especially the more expensive items. From our group of 6 only 2 ended up ordering steak. The steaks that were ordered (a filet mignon & a ribeye) were very disappointing. The other 4 dishes ordered were fantastic. The place has tight seating and can be very loud. We had to basically shout to hear each other at our table. Overall, the experience there was not worth half the price we paid for it.

Very good dining experience

By Angelica S |

I have to say that years ago, my husband and I were regulars at Morton's...we loved the ambiance...they played Sinatra songs...low lights...presentation of steaks were on a cart...it was quite the experience...then something changed..they started to play pop music and lights were bright...at a steakhouse??? Odd..so we stopped going for literally years..then this week we chose Morton's again...My husband and I had dinner at Morton's on a Sunday evening. We had reservations that I secured via Open Table. It was Restaurant Week and so we took advantage of their menu offer. It was 50.00 per person. Not bad...the selection of choices was good. I had their Beefsteak Tomato with bleu cheese (VERY GOOD), 8 oz. Filet Mignon (DELICIOUS and TENDER), Horseradish mashed potatoes (would not order again...wish they made Yukon Gold mashed potatoes, instead), and we shared a dessert (the second dessert was prepared to go). My husband had a salad, pork chop, and au gratin potatoes. The dessert eaten at Morton's was the chocolate lava cake (SO GOOD) .the dessert to go was chocolate mousse (meh). Price including drinks and tip was a little over 200.00 Would I return??? Yes, the lights in the restaurant were dimly lit...no loud annoying music, and most of the food items were very good. Also, our waitress whose name starts with a J..was friendly and efficient. She really went out of her way and made our dining experience a special evening. Tip if you are a tourist-there is valet parking and a parking lot across the street...if you are lucky..you can find street parking and pay a meter a few bucks.

Great food

By Thomas P |

Finest steak house in the Marina area, close to hotels, Maritime museum, USS Midway museum and the harbor tours. Fine dining and great set ice make a day of sight seeing enjoy a perfect ending. Great self tions and about average pricing. Everything was cooked to perfection and presented marvelously!! Recommended!!!

Best steakhouse around

By Steve W |

There are a few reasons why Morton's is so good to me. One is that unlike most all other high end steak houses, Morton's is very casual and no pretentious at all. You are gretted right as you walk in with a friendly greet. The waiters are always friendly, helpful and great with suggestions (if you ask). Portions are large everywhere and my wife and I typically share the main course and have a couple sides. The sides are huge. We never get an attitude from the waiter when we tell them our plan. The Cajun Ribeye is one of most delicious steaks EVER!!!! We even got the black truffle butter to go with it. Before you question the decision....DO IT. it was incredible.

Practically perfect

By Pammie |

From the time we got out of the car, helped by the doorman, we felt very special. The little extras make a big difference: hanging up our jackets, pulling the table out so we didn’t need to slide into the booth, pulling it away again so we could go to the ladies’ room, the food was superb overall. For me, I needed to reach for the salt, and the bread just made a mess. I wish it had been sliced for us, or been served with a bread knife. Perhaps because it was a Sunday and a slow night, we were forgotten more than once. At the prices, I feel I should not have had to fill my own wine glass. Nor should my water glass have gone dry. Still, it was a birthday dinner and the personalized menu was a treat. And the soufflé was fantastic. We’ve eaten at Morton’s around the world, including The Original. It never disappoints. But at the prices, perfection is hard won. I’ll return. For sure.

Morton's Steakhouse always Reliable

By Imelda M |

Had reservations for dinner but we arrived just after 5pm [Opening Time] we decided to sit at the bar instead. No problem w/reservationist at front desk when we changed our plans. Our drinks consisted of Pebble Lane, Pinot Noir fr H.H menu at only $8.00gl. My drink, Power House Vodka Martini w/stuffed olives $9.00 A huge selection on Happy Hour menu to choose from. We had the Mini Crab Cake BLTs & Filet Mignon Trio. Both plates more than enough for two ppl. Again, lots to choose from. Our bartenders, BJ & Matthew were extremely helpful with suggestions & also extremely well informed. All in all Morton's always Reliable. Well worth a visit if in San Diego....added plus its right across fr Convention Center and GasLamp Quarters.... Oh! yes, Valet Parking...IDK the price as we cabbed.

Expensive

By Lisa T |

The food here was really expensive for what you received. My steak was undercooked and the creme brulee was the consistency of cottage cheese, I couldn't eat it. The bar was really loud and spills out into the dining area. Just not worth the expense!

Excellent Restaurant for Business

By Marisa H |

Hosting an International delegation from around the world the staff were super helpful and friendly. Wine and food was amazing and my guests were suitably impressed. While we were in business casual after a long week of meetings and conference events it was good to get away from the main group, relax and enjoy the fine dining experience. I would take my family and friends to this restaurant and hope when I'm next in San Diego I can visit again.

Always Good

By GlobalGypsy_13 |

For a fine dining experience go to Morton's that is more than a steakhouse with seafood, pork chops and chicken regularly on their menu. Fine dining to me means attentive professional service (friendly, but not overbearing), delicious food (menus vary by season), and white tablecloths. If you're celebrating a special occasion and make a reservation, you can have a free photo, personalized menu, and a complimentary dessert.

The weak link

By DrMarvinCarter |

A long time guests of Morton's since Arnie Morton founded the chain, this particular property, after three visits, just never seems to live up to the Morton standard. Lesson learned, so unless I hear from their corporate office, not sure I want to spend good money to be treated shabbily. The waiter, Josh, was the highlight of the visit. The manager, was not attentive or maybe he had more "important" folks to attend to. The food was lackluster, which certainly did not help. Then, the lack of communication with the staff was frustrating. Well, Flemings is a few doors away, and while they are not my favorite chain, they sure try hard to please. So, San Diego Morton's, after three try's, guess it is time to cut my losses.

Great Food & LOT'S Of It!

By AmazonW |

Morton's is one of my favorite restaurants and no matter which one I visit, the food and service is always the same...FANTASTIC!!! Morton's in San Diego is no different. The food was prepared to perfection and the service outstanding! The sides are large enough to feed 3-4 people so I suggest not going overboard when ordering. I love the atmosphere and will definitely be going back.

The Family Favorite

By Richard V |

This restaurant will continue to stand through the test of time. Many come to enjoy the tender steaks offered by Morton's. I know it will continue to be our favorite to enjoy at every location.

Not the best Mortons

By don195219 |

We are fortunate to have dined at Mortons in 6 or 7 different locations. Thought this was the worst. Never seemed quite up to par. Service food atmosphere were all below Mortons standards.

Bland steak, prime price

By MsMK |

Went for my daughter’s wedding. It was so dark we couldn’t see the menu. We all ordered the special - 6oz filet, 2 bacon scallops and 2 shrimp. The scallops were the reason they got 3 stars from me. The filet was so bland I could have been eating chicken and not known the difference. Overall it was acceptable but underwhelming for the price.

Anniversary dinner

By AprilG981 |

My husband and I went to Morton's to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It is one of our favorite restaurants for anniversaries. I ordered my favorite, filet mignon. I ordered it medium and when it came it was well done. The manager was great & took it back. She brought me a new filet that was just perfect! Everyone makes mistakes and they fixed it immediately. The rest of our meal was delicious!

Enjoyable Meal

By Dean Fitzpatrick |

We dined in Mortons in San Diego, initial impressions were goon on entering the restaurant. The restaurant was busy but we were seated straight away. Our waitress was Lauren, and she attended to our every request and query perfectly. My partner had the chicken Caesar salad. I had the porter house steak. It was a huge portion. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The restaurant is on the expensive side but worth it.

Top Notch Food, pricy

By Pete Carstensen |

Morton's is one of the top steakhouses in the country and well deserves the awards they have earned. Elegant dining with a very professional and attentive staff. I had the Rib Eye steak while my wife had a combo beef/shrimp/scallops dish. Both were excellent and highly recommended. Entrees are in $50 range. Superb wine list with all price ranges.

Disappointing

By KizzyD5 |

Was expecting a great meal especially for the hype and the price. Wasn’t feeling great so didn’t want a cocktail before dinner and ordered an ice tea. Never had a refill or was even asked if I wanted one. Got grouped with the men in our group with other women at other end of table. Was passed over four times for water refill. My glass was empty. All the men around me had their glasses refilled. When at a better restaurant supposedly for steak I will order medium well because they tend to be truer or more on rare side. Mine was well done. Good cut of meat but well done. Dessert was brought out with several ordered to share. 6 dishes on the table with nothing to serve with. Not a great experience. Luckily I wasn’t paying the bill.

Usual top quality food and service

By Tony F |

We visited as a party of 11 for my wife's birthday and the staff were so kind as to print a special anniversary menu for us all that she kept afterwards to mark the occasion ..the steaks were unbelievable as usual, cooked to perfection ..the wine list had great choice and the whole experience was professional, relaxing and memorable , exactly as we'd hoped ..Mortons $7 valet parking is a bargain downtown so that meant we could drive to the door and the staff are attentive but unobtrusive, so really make the whole night perfect

44th Anniversary Dinner

By Gary R |

Great steak house in the downtown San Diego city near the Gas Lamp District, Harbor and Convention Center which offers perfectly prepared steaks and seafood pared with a very nice wine list. I booked on line and we were greeted with personalized menus. Our meals were prepared as ordered and served hot from the kitchen. Dinner was finished with a complimentary dessert in honor of our 44th Anniversary. We booked an early dinner and were seated immediately but noted that the restaurant was completely filled later around 6:30 PM on a Friday night. Wine list matches the menu. Great Night!

Happy Hour at Morton's

By Joanne B |

Great Happy Hour deals. $5 beer and $5 appetizers. Sliders, crab cakes and delicious fries. Indoor and outdoor bar dining.

The worst dinner we've had at a Morton's

By le0l0vest0travel |

We booked a reservation at Morton's because we have had good experiences in the past and they have also been very accommodating when it comes to allergies. When we got there we were seated immediately and the waiter came and took our orders. The appetizers were good and we were enjoying them together and enjoying getting to talk to each other. As we were enjoying our appetizers, apparently, the restaurant had run out of salmon, a dish which three of the people in our party ordered, one of them being gluten free. The manager came over, interrupted our meal, and made a huge deal of it. He said that they had no more salmon and he didn't know what we wanted to do. He said we could order something else or he could run down to their sister restaurant that was a few restaurants down (on the same street) and they could get salmon from there (salmon of the same brand). The way that he presented himself and the problem just ruined the whole dinner for us. If they were able to get fresh salmon from down the street, why didn't they do that and serve it to us instead of disrupting our dinner and putting everyone in a sour mood. Ultimately, one person stayed with the salmon but the other two being turned off from the meal because of the manager did not order the salmon. One ordered something else and the other didn't order anything at all. When she didn't order another item because she was so turned off, the manager didn't even care. He said "ok" and left. After the meal, the waiter wanted to know if we wanted dessert, laughable. We wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. Not sure if we will ever eat at a Morton's again.

Great Service and Very Accommodating for a Large Group

By DCEowner |

We hosted a celebration for about 20 people in June and Morton's really came through! The were the only steakhouse in San Diego that would allow us to have our guest order from the menu and didn't require a limited pre defined menu. It was great! We understood that the kitchen wouldn't necessarily get everything out at the same time, but everyone in attendance was thrilled with their choices. The mac and cheese side dish was to die for and the steaks were memorable.

Did Landry's ownership hurt Morton's?

By Barry L |

We have enjoyed Morton's San Diego location for many years, then about two or three years ago the chain was bought by Landry's. We thought that it would change and probably not maintain their high standards of quality and service. Wrong, it actually got even better and so did the frequent customer awards from Landry's. It remains our go restaurant of choice for special occasions and other times. The general manager and the manager are always very attentive and make sure that guests are happy. The quality of the food remains very high. This restaurant was recently redecorated and it has a nice fresh, yet comfortable look.

Great visit-both food and service

By Wingdam |

My first time at this Mortons and the food and service were superb. Our waiter was friendly fun and engaging. The steaks were cooked perfectly and were wonderful. Its expensive, but well worth it.

Turns out, it was totally worth it.

By 1SharpGent |

You know, I've been to a dozen or so fairly high-end steakhouses, and I've had great experiences at them all. Morton's is no different. It's an excellent steakhouse with a fine dining atmosphere, great presentation, an extensive wine list and full bar, and a staff that makes sure you want for nothing. And I've never really liked the idea of a steakhouse that's 'Morton's-level" expensive. Having said that... The food was superb. I had the New York strip, medium-rare, with the Bordelaise butter. And my goodness, I didn't want to be impressed. I didn't want to allow myself to accept the experience as worthy because I knew the bill was going to be quite high. Well, I couldn't help myself. I enjoyed every-single-bite. The spinach and mushrooms (side) were excellent, and the table shared those along with mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. All our selections were cooked to perfection, and everything came out hot and immediately seduced the entire table into silence for the first few moments. We shared a couple bottles of good red wine and let our bellies rejoice. The bill was high, yes. But this isn't something you do every weekend, so I can handle it. Was it expensive? You bet. Was it worth it? Unequivocally, yes. Enjoy!

Amazing steak experience!

By Alex Galicia |

Had the Cajun Rib eye .... medium rare, with horse radish mashed potatoes. If you like slightly spicy food, this combination is the bomb! I normally don't do well with dessert but the chocolate soufflé was beyond amazing! The service was amazing and the overall ambiance was something I'll look forward to again!

Great Steakhouse..

By A. Vinnie V |

Morton's Steakhouse is a great Steakhouse in Downtown San Diego. A great menu with so much more. Their Power Hour / Happy Hour is the best. Go for a wonderful dinner or hang out at the bar. Always great food and drinks. I always love the filet, Crab cakes, blt bites and a Cosmo are a few of my favorite thing to order..

Wonderful as always

By Tim-J-W |

It's a great experience eating at Morton's. I hadn't eaten in the San Diego one before, but it's similar to others I have eaten in. I love the dark calming ambience. The staff are exceptionally well trained. I had a succulent filet and a lovely pecan white chocolate bread pudding -which I couldn't finish. It's not cheap, but it's top notch.

Great steaks!

By Angelica S |

My family took advantage of a great promotion Morton's had which was 1 appetizer, an entree choice of steak, or pork chop, or salmon, or some sort of chicken dish I think... a side and dessert (to share), and a bottle of wine for only 99 dollars. So multiply what I just wrote x2....We took our daughter and also our granddaughter for her 7th birthday to celebrate. Besides all the food and wine..we also ordered 2 martinis and a bottle of Pellegrino. Total with tip was 311.95..not bad considering all of the food and beverages we had. We were able to take one of the bottles of wine to go...For steaks, I appreciate the variety of side sauces you can order. It is not like their competitor (another known steakhouse) who is a couple of blocks from Morton's...That restaurant starts with the letter "F" and used to be our go to place..but they started to down size on choice of sauces and other items...Anyhow-I truly enjoy the ambiance and food at Morton's..I cannot wait to return! TIp-they do have valet parking...also public parking across the street. Great splurge...If one day I win the lottery..I will be at this restaurant at least 3x a week. The hell with high cholesterol. YOLO!!!

Excellent steak, extremely noisy restaurant

By drengen |

We were a group of ten visiting the place. My rib eye was top notch, but the same cannot be said about the restaurant acoustics. The noise amounted to amazing levels as the place filled up, so I ended up with very mixed feelings for this place.

Great steak, horrible music 😖

By Mer21maid |

I had the smallest steak (filet mignon) which is still quite big by Danish standards. It was grilled to perfection. The iceberg wedge salad with blue cheese dressing was absolutely fantastic. However, the music was so hysterically bad that it was totally disturbing, so I would never, ever come back, unfortunately.

The Morton's Standard

By Leaddog83 |

Visited with a group to this very accessible location to most hotels and Gaslight district. The meals are what you would expect from Morton's, and the staff help make an "eating experience" into a "dining experience with flair"! Thank you!!

Always good

By Karla S |

The food is always very good, love the crabcakes! This time it was a private party event, the wait-staff took such good care of everyone. Thank you Mortons!

Great place

By Craig M |

We were taken here by our pedicab driver. I wish I had known this was more on the "nicer" side as I would not have worn shorts and t-shirt (don't worry; others did too). The place is quite pricey, but the food was really good. To be honest, this is more like a place to take a date or spouse for a romantic dinner. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is that we were ignored for a few minutes when we arrived, while the staff looked at a computer screen

Great Food - excellent wine

By Rikk F |

Got here late - after nine. The Cubs were busy winning the World Series on the bar TV but the wait staff gave us an exceptional meal paired with a fabulous wine. We each chose the Steak, Bacon-Wrapped Scallops and Shrimp platter. Wow! The prices were top end but the food and the service were as well.

Mortons

By cableladee1 |

We were celebrating my husband's birthday. They gave us a menu with his name on it and Happy Birthday Larry as a keep sake. They took a couple of terrific pictures for keepsakes as well. What can I say - They have the BEST steaks in town. The service is killer. I strongly urge to indulge yourself and go to Mortons

Morton’s never disappoints

I brought a large group for a business meeting to this location. Amazing service and outstanding food! Just what you would expect from a Morton’s.

Morton's The Steak House

By Alan F |

Took my two daughters to celebrate my youngest ones birthday. It was a fabulous meal for all three of us. The steaks melted in our mouths and the ambience was really nice. Our waiter was the best! My daughters have a gluten issue and the food was prepared perfectly.

Ok

By Shawn W |

For Mortons the quality of the food was good but the atmosphere was horrible. I wanted a quiet night for my Wife and I for our Anniversary but it was so loud we had a hard time communicating. It just seems like it is all about how many people they can put though quick and fast and not the quality of the experience.

Good steak, and that was about all

By Mike W |

This is a very loud restaurant. Wife and I had a hard time having a quiet conversation. It wasn't one thing that was loud, it was just over all loud. I could hear the music, but couldn't really determine what was playing. The customers were all talking loud as well. Service was good - we had a good, easy cadence between dishes. Not rushed at the least bit. First thing was the bread. You get a large round piece of bread and that is overwhelmingly flavored with onion. You better like onions, no, you better be obsessed with onions to like the bread. Had the Morton salad - it was good, nothing exceptional. Had the shrimp scampi. Plate come out hot - shrimp and pasta had good flavors, but after eating the first shrimp, the rest seemed over cooked - perhaps the hot plate finished the process. Side of potatoes was fine, again, nothing exceptional. Side of creamed spinach was somewhat bland. Portions were good. Had the grand marnier souffle for dessert. That was basically eating cooked egg whites. So little flavor. The portion size was more than adequate, but failed to make up for lack of flavor. I really expected the experience to be more of a fine dining restaurant. It seems to want to be, but it is more of a steak joint. For the price, I really expected better quality dishes.

Wonderful Service, Great Food, Nice location!

By Greg D |

Servers are super friendly, lucky if you get waiter Bill! Outside dining or inside. Outside best if you have little ones in tow as we did so they can walk around if they get antsy. Inside best for more of the true Morton luxury experience. Great bar scene, newly remodeled inside. Great food, lots of great wines go and enjoy!

Another Great Morton's

By Jeff R |

Excellent dining experience once again. After eating at the one in New Orleans and now in San Diego the one word I would use is "consistent ". My ribeye was cooked to perfection. Impeccable service.

Anniversary Dinner

By spucket |

We celebrated our anniversary at this lovely steak house. Karen was our waitress and she was wonderful. The food was delicious and worth every penny of it. Don't be cheap and splurge on yourself!

Delious dinner and outstanding service

By 926sandyr |

We were staying at the Embasy Suites in Downtoendecided to go for a walk and see what appealed to us.. went into Mortons, sat at the bar, was greeted with a smile .. I ordered the chopped salad, perfectly fresh . Shared steak and those one of a kind hash browns. Perfectly satisfying meal.. that onion bread loaf is so good, Incould eat that everyday. The two bartenders were professional and kind. Will be back...

Disappointing visit.

By ETKGD |

We are members of Landrys Club and have eaten at Mortons many times with great results for service, food and overall experience. We completed the survey afterwards and sent Morton's an e-mail and have heard nothing so felt we should post this. We both ordered the special 8 oz filet (medium rare) and lobster for $59.00 each and in addition had a side and each had a cocktail and wine. The steak we received was terrible; both were less than 1/2 inch thick, mine was slices and my wife was done so well she only eat half of it. When the waitress picked up the plates and we said something to her she looked at the steak and said "I will tell the chef". Then she brought us our bill. Although we did not expect anything extra we certainly expected something more than an "Thats to bad/I don't care attitude", especially considering the price of the overall meal. As I said I normally wouldn't post this but because they did not respond to either prior direct communications we wanted to let everyone know and suggest no matter how much you like the restaurant if this happens SEND THE FOOD BACK right away. Try it during restaurant week

By Eddie Travels |

QUICKIE REVIEW Not worth the bang for the buck. However, definitely worth a restaurant week visit. FOOD This is what I tried: -Cajun Ribeye -Filet Mignon -Twice baked au gratin potatoes -Jumbo asparagus -Morton's legendary hot chocolate cake (takes roughly 20 minutes to prepare) Everything served here is a la carte. If you look on their site, prices are not shown. I did upload the menu with prices so you get an idea of what you are getting to. Complimentary egg and onion bread is amazing when eaten warm. Add a little butter and you are in heaven. Cajun steak was something a little different with the seasoning that was nice. It was medium perfectly done on both sides as ordered. Same for filet mignon. Jumbo asparagus is a bit of waste though. The legendary hot chocolate cake looked a lot like Chili's molten chocolate cake. Taste was ok, nothing to write home about. Food overall was good, but what they are charging for it is ridiculous. It is worth a restaurant week visit at least once. Other than that, Outback steakhouse will do just fine. Hell, one Cajun ribeye equals an Outback trip for two with alcohol--food for thought. PARKING No parking. Get it how you can where you can. SERVICE & DECOR The entire place is dimly lit. If you have vision problems or cannot see in low lighting, avoid this place. Other than that, it is good mood lighting and perfect for a date night. Service was ok from our waiter. We had a booth and he pulled out the entire table so that we could get in. That was pretty cool. PRICE Easily $200+ if you are not going during restaurant week for two including drinks. However, restaurant week gives you $50 a head for appetizer, entrée and dessert. TIP If it is not restaurant week, do not waste your time or money unless you have it to burn.

Wonderful experience, great food!

By Amy V |

This was a splurge to celebrate, and we couldn’t have been happier with our choice. The steaks were tender and flavorful, the serving team was professional and welcoming without being intrusive, and the atmosphere was just what you’d want for your upscale steakhouse experience. Prices are high, so know that going in, but well worth it. They made our night very special.

Happy Hour

By Rich424 |

My wife and I had a great time here during happy hour. The service was great and the eats delicious, and since it was happy hour the price was really good!

Night at Mortons

By sumoagt |

Mortons is our favorite restaurant, always greeted at the desk with smiles, tentative service with knowledgeable waitresses or waiters, the food cooked to perfection, delicious and plentiful. The manager Joshua is quite a gentleman who treats us special with a smile. He provides his customers with a fun, romantic and exciting atmosphere you don’t see in most restaurants. Tonight our server was Coco, she is a very pleasant and knowledgeable young lady who told us about all the house specials and recommended different toppings for our tomahawk steak, by the way us was scrumptious. Corn soufflé and the loaded bake potato was tasty. Thanks for another terrific evening

Good Not Great

By ladybug5 |

Visited Morton’s while vacationing in San Diego Our dinner had some ups and downs My 6 oz Filet was over cooked while my husbands 8 oz steak was very good My Morton’s salad was great while my husbands Caesar salad was dry Our lemon soufflé was quite good Our server was lacking I heard both tables next to us being told about about the menu and deserts we weren’t told of either

a mediocre Morton

By TripCar |

Morton's in other American cities has always been a great experience for me. Morton's in San Diego is mediocre. The menu is limited and uninspiring. I had broiled salmon of uncertain taste and spinaches in a creamy sauce as a side dish. The combination (proposed by the restaurant) was, at best, naive. Perhaps I was wrong in going with the fish, which was a deviation from my usual choice of roasted filet (superb in other Morton's in various USA cities).

Super

By GlobalGypsy_13 |

Morton's remains our go-to place for a fun and elegant evening out. I like to try their seasonal menu for favorites, such as salmon, and salads, desserts or starters that fit the time of year. The service is professional and flawless.

Giostre steak house

By 717angeloa |

We were here with other colleagues . Excellent food particularly the beef. Service was a bit slow. Good wine list and dessert choice

We love this restaurant

By sumoagt |

We had reservations a day before Valentines day to beat the rush. We were immediately seated and given a hot onion loaf with whipped butter. Our waiter Barry immediately took our drink order and explained their specials and items not on the menu. We chose a sampler plate of fillet mignon, shrimp and scallops which were tender juicy and delicious. I had the Miso Sea bass which was so damn tasty. I'm definitely going to return for another plate of this fish. We also had a center cut of romaine salad which had bacon chips, blue cheese and hard boiled eggs. Very tasty!!!. We ordered an appetizer cooked oysters in butter and garlic, it was also to die for. The staff and Barry made you feel special and at home.

Our Place Since 2006

By bhittle |

My wife and I decided years ago that instead of buying gifts for each other on our anniversary we would enjoy a nice steakhouse. We tried several in the area and found Morton's to be the best. Here is why: Each year we receive a menu with our names printed on them and Happy Anniversary. They take our picture and place it in a Morton's mat with personal signatures from the staff. They seat us in the same booth. We've had servers remember us. All these little things make it feel this is our place even though we only eat here once a year. The food is always excellent, the service is top notch, the servings are generous and the atmosphere is romantic and warming. Parking is usually easy or you can valet. If you are looking for your special place you would be hard pressed to find one as nice as Morton's. Plan on $75pp.

Fabulous Experience

By BobFraples |

The food is incredible, the service is friendly and efficient. The desert was the best lava cake I have ever had. Overall a great experience.

Good service, decent food

By Kathy7878 |

This is a much better steakhouse to visit if you are in San Diego. I really liked their souffle and their hot lava cake was a hit too.

Great Food, Poor Service

By Sunni |

Three of us had reservations for 5:45 dinner. We waited an unusually long time to be greeted or asked for drink order. Order dinner order was taken at least 15 minutes later. Several tables were seated after we arrived and received service before ours, not sure what the problem was there.... We shared several side dishes, enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine and the rib eye steak was excellent. Just uncertain why the service was so bad. Our finished salad plates sat right up until the main dishes arrived so there was a scramble to remove those and set down the others. There was one older gentleman who served our wine, he was the only server that seemed to be both friendly and efficient. We would go back for the food, but without decent service will probably go elsewhere for a good steak.

Delicious, A-mazing Food

By Lisa P |

Wow this is a must if and when in San Diego. Food and service 10/10. Well worth paying a little extra for dinner at this restaurant. Superior to all. Awesome

Super Special

By GlobalGypsy_13 |

Whether you're there for a celebration, such as a birthday or anniversary, or a seasonal promotion, you are treated as special guests. The service is always attentive, professional, and not overbearing. We always enjoy starting with their complementary loaf of onion bread that seems to melt in your mouth and leaves a bread crumb trail that is regularly whisked away by the server. I usually select their seafood, and this time their King Salmon on a bed of Farro salad was outstanding. Although my partner enjoyed their hefty 16 oz. pork chop, we still found room to share a chocolate "lava" cake and vanilla ice cream dessert. For a fine dining experience in the Gaslamp District (valet parking is available), go to Morton's.

Fine food and attention to detail

By Dwightcr |

We had a special dinner at this restaurant in the harbor area. Try the seafood and steak special dinner for a real treat and at bargain. Check the website for details. sService is superior to most. The host or hostess will make a complimentary photo print of your secial occassion.

In spite of a spoilt orange juice

By amr s |

This is a nice elegant restaurant, definitely popular with people remembering it from past visits to San Diego years ago. I tried a medium well Rib Eye steak which was delicious and gratifying. I ordered some orange juice which turned out to be spoilt ?!. They changed it and apologized so in spite of their excellent food and service i downsized their rating to very good instead of excellent.

$900 + tip for 4 - was it worth THAT?

By Amy K |

Maybe-you raise your price-I raise the standard-I have absolutely had better, for less. The apps were good-the fresh, chilled seafood was the best but you can’t mess that up unless it’s overcooked. The hot apps were - meh. All the salads were horribly overdressed. Would you like some lettuce with that dressing? Steaks and sea bass at the table-the proteins were fabulous. Shared sides-meh broccoli-meh shrooms-meh potatoes asparagus- meh So-they make amazing proteins. They don’t ruin the chilled seafood. Literally, everything else was - meh. Gotta work on that. So, I don’t think it was worth the tab. Sorry. Service was good-and our tip reflected that.

Great food you can never go wrong with this place

By Steve L |

Morton's is one of our favorite steakhouses in Los Angeles and in San Diego. Food is always great hardly any complaints. Prices are a little steep but definitely cant go wrong with anything on the menu. My favorite is the Cajun ribeye.

Excellent Experience

By beachlovers618 |

We do not dine out like this frequently but had a gift card so finally went downtown to use it. We made reservations for 5:00, we prefer to beat the crowds and there was a Padres game so it was going to be a busy night. We valet parked, for $10, you can't beat it! The parking lot kiddie corner is $25. We sat in the bar for about 30 minutes since we were the first to arrive upon them opening their doors. My husband had several Bombay Sapphire Mortinis with their famous blue cheese olives and he said they were the best martinis he's ever had. Once seated for dinner, (I wish I could remember our waitress' name) the service was great and the food was excellent! My husband had the chopped salad with blue cheese and said it was really good but once he tried a bite of my chopped spinach salad he just wanted to keep eating mine, it was the highlight of my meal, it was that good - I even searched the net for the recipe and printed it out for future use! However, I would suggest splitting a salad, although I ate mine to the last bite, they are huge and probably meant to be shared as I saw another couple do. I'm not sure if the bread we were served is a nightly occurrence but it was to die for! I should have taken a pic, it had toasted onions and garlic on top of and inside of the loaf and the soft swirled butter topped it off perfectly. My husband ordered the porterhouse, OMG, truly one of THE best steaks we have ever had! I ordered the filet with shrimp and scallops, very good but the filet tasted a little off to me, almost tasted like liver - it must have been my taste buds because I doubt it tasted like liver. I had two bites, ate the shrimp and scallops and took the filet home. We split a gigantic baked potato and the creamed corn, their sides suggest "shared" and believe me, you should share. For dessert, we each ordered a coffee drink - we couldn't decide what to share so we ended up with the Crème Brule and the NY Cheesecake - hey, we were splurging, even knowing we would have to pay over and above our $200 gift card. I have definitely had much better Crème Brule, wouldn't spend my money on this again but the NY Cheesecake was truly a specialty of theirs, not just your standard slice of cheesecake, YUMMY!! Now, after four total cocktails, two glasses of wine, no appetizer, two salads, two steaks, two sides and two desserts, the total bill was $277, add a $56 tip and $333 later, we were obviously stuffed but it was an extremely lavish evening out and although I would NEVER spend that much of my own money on one meal, for the $133 of our own money spent, it was well worth the splurge for a very rare date night. As for the dress code, I've been there before with a group and I am well aware that these upscale steakhouses prefer you dress nicely, which we did, however, I was surprised to see people be seated in casual shorts and walking sandals or jeans and literally a white tee shirt...sad that we Californians don't respect an upscale dining establishment's wish for a little more than sandals and tee-shirts to dine in. Once in awhile it's nice to dress nicely, on the same tier as the money you're shelling out for a meal - keep the walking shorts/sandals/jeans/tees home and dress up a little when going to one of the fine dining establishments.

What a lovely evening!

By TammyH222 |

Our family enjoyed an excellent dinner here last night. We had just arrived on the train from LA and wanted a steak. This was the perfect choice. They say us outside at a lovely table. The views of the bay are beautiful. Service was amazing. Ben, our waiter, was attentive, thoughtful, efficient and friendly. He gave us some tips in the Must-Sees for the area. He was the perfect server. We had the smaller of the steaks with the sides being garlic mashed and creamed spinach. Amazing! Our steaks were absolutely delicious, juicy and flavourful. Our teenage girls....enjoyed the Happy Hour menu choices. Actually, that's a helpful tip...if you go between 4:30-6:30 you can make choices from their great lower priced menu. The prices on the main menu are higher but you really get a terrific dinner. The girls had meals that were $8 and $13... Compared to our $42 steaks. One had a delicious opened faced sandwich and the other had a huge beef burger. Both were served with French fries. They loved it! What a great family meal!!!!! Also shared a yummy dessert... Banana cream carmelized sugar pie.... Wow!

Morton's is Morton's. One of the best steak restaurant in USA. I recomend the NY Strip, medium well.

Wonderful Memorable Dinner

By Maureen S |

We were on business in San Diego and decided to try out The Morton's while there. The decor was beautiful as are all Morton's Restaurants. They are all classic and elegant at the same time. We each started with Caesar salads that were delicious. My husband had the center cut rib eye and I had the filet mignon. Both steaks were cooked to taste and were mouth watering. We ordered sides of creamed spinach and potatoes as well as a wonderful bottle of chardonnay. The service was impeccable with such attention to never letting our water glass get empty. Great meal and memory.

What a feast!

By GlobalGypsy_13 |

Morton's is always a delicious, friendly, and elegant dining experience that is more than steaks. Their Lobster Fest in June 2019 was fantastic. The 1-1/2 pound Maine lobster (boiled, steamed or thermador) came with an ear of corn, red potatoes, and a side of lobster mac n cheese as well as a lobster starter. And if you're celebrating a special occasion, the dessert is complimentary. What a tasty, delightful and filling feast!

Fine Dining at Its Best

By Mamjensen |

We enjoyed an excellent meal here from start to finish. We ate outside due to Covid concerns. Our server Bill was great. My wife thought her Old Fashion was perfect. We both had the small filet mignon and loved every bite. The au gratin potatoes were to die for and the grilled asparagus a worthy complement.

A Great Old Favorite

By SDFlipFlops |

On a recent trip to San Diego we met a friend at Morton's for happy hour. The service was friendly and prompt and the food plentiful. Being from the Northwest we are pretty picky about oysters but decided to give it a go. They were good. Almost all of the food was above good! The only exception were the large cocktail shrimp. They had a weird milly feel, not that they tasted bad just weren't firm. Go early because they get full quickly.

Disappointments galore!

By TravelorB2021 |

Had been to Morton's at other cities, so was pretty confident that this would be similar in terms of quality and customer service. Was disappointed, to say the least. Were celebrating an anniversary and hence was a special day. Reservations had been made earlier, including confirmation of available valet parking. On arrival 5 mins prior to reservation, was told that no valet parking was avilable. Also our table wa snot ready! Had to wait for 25 minutes, to get a table- this was after reservations had been made and confirmed. Our woes had just begun! We were given water and then saw the waiter after 20 mins- to take the orders. Salad came in after 30 mins, and it wasn't till 75 mins that 3 of us got our entrees- Filet mignon, pork chops and Chicken Christopher. Quality of steak was ok at best- very dry, not moist- very unbecoming of a steakhouse of your caliber! How do you mess up Filet mignon, when it literally is supposed to be the softest cut of meat. Left very dejected, wondering why did we not go someplace else!

The Steak

By San Diego Shea |

We brought our son here for a family dinner for his 12th Birthday. He is a huge culinary enthusiast and we figured this was a touch of fancy meets great steak. This place did not disappoint at all. It is a classic steak house, low lighting and classic ambiance. So to the food, we had the wagyu meatballs, and the bacon style brussels sprouts for appetizer, the poki.......amazing melted like butter, so soft and tasty. The dry aged bone in wasn't spectacular, the wagyu filet and the prime rib were to die for, ( we all shared among the family) along with the sour cream mashed potatoes and asparagus.

Excellent steakhouse

By Patricia F |

We had a lovely evening and were very helpful although we showed a saturday night without reservations. The service was very good, very attentive and polite. The steak was great, as well as the oysters and lobster bisque which I thoroughly recommend.

Great food!

By PatriceBee |

Liked? - Medium filet mignon was done PERFECT!! Melted in my mouth! Prices are also pretty reasonable. I also found out that they have a happy hour!! Oh, and valet parking is available
