Worst service in town

By Stpari |

Worst service in town From the beginning our waitress was in a big hurry After i told her to take it easy Btw very very politely she stoped serving us I had to complain several times but no use even the manager did not care

Very expensive

By Maree |

We went here for dinner. I found the lighting inside way too low as I could hardly see my meal properly and had to use to the light on my phone to make sure it was cooked etc. Food was nice but VERY pricey.

Very snobby 😜

By Josebn |

Very ā€œchicā€ place, the waiter was very professional... The steaks (fillet mignon and the rib eye) were very good (even my GF said that she ate better before), but we had to pay for side dishes!? Quite a lot! They took about 10$ for a bottle of water!? Water not wine... The overall price for the steaks was real too high, Won’t come again... JB

Making a meal a memorable experience

By Susan V |

Morton's Steakhouse is known for their food and service, so this review should not come as any surprise. A definite must-go experience for a delicious meal surrounded by attentive waitstaff dedicated to making your dining experience memorable. Although Morton's specializes in steaks, try the seafood. The prawns we had were fresh, flavorful, and a perfect complement to a dinner salad.

Wonderful dinner

By Reldim |

What a great meal! I started with the shrimp cocktail and while it was pricey, it was perhaps the best I have ever had (and I have had a LOT of these!). 5 colossal shrimp presented it in a fog of dry ice. Super cool. Everyone loved their steaks and one friend ordered the pork chop which he said was to die for. We loved the hash browns, and the decadent corn pudding was amazing. Service was professional yet approachable, and our waitress was spot on all night. Highly recommend if you're looking for a superior experience with food to match.

Dinnertime

By Stevesimonian |

Great steak at reasonable price. Service bit slow, couldn’t get water when I was empty. Enjoyed my dinner

Unmissable classic

By aandrade |

A classic place that does not lose its validity, probably the best steak house in the USA or at least the most attractive and classic

Great pieces of meat

By 73Roland |

Visited on a Wednesday evening, with 3 businesses friends. We all had steaks a with extras to share. Steaks tasted perfect as de extras did to. After the Main, only one opted for a desert, where you can select one with only 2200 cal. I will definitely come back again

Great dinner experience at Union Square

By CalCamper C |

I brought my wife to Morton's for dinner on a Thursday night. I had reservations for 7pm and was seated without waiting. All in all, I'd take her there again if we were in the City. The pros outweighed the cons although it may not look that way by the way I wrote below. The food and atmosphere was pretty good. Pros Wait staff was well versed on the menu. Beef Short Rib Stroganoff, the Short Rib was pretty good. Filet Mixed Grill was excellent. It included bacon wrapped Scallops that melted in the mouth and had great flavor. Drinks were great. Very clean restaurant. So-So The noodles with the Stroganoff. Carrot cake seemed off the shelf, it was good, but nothing special. Cons We are used to being asked for our drink order before ordering dinner, like when we are seated or shortly thereafter. After she took our dinner order, and as she turned to walk away, we stopped the server and asked if she can take our drink order. She did. After dinner, plates cleared, she brought us our bill. We are used to being asked if we wanted anything else or would you like to see the desert menu, but didn't get that. We asked for and did get desert.

Disappointing...

By Sharmistha Ghosh Das |

We walked into this steakhouse since we had forgotten to book places for dinner and the Google and Yelp reviews were decent for this place. We could find a place easily (now we know why). The steak was not soft, we asked for rare-medium but they overcooked an almost burnt it. The service is a bit formal and we seemed unwelcome. Not a place I would go again!!!

Another one of our favorite San Francisco restaurants

By Dennis Atkinson |

We have dined at Morton's SF 130 on several occasions, and have never been disappointed. They have an extensive wine list, as well as, a large selection of dinner menu items. The service is beyond excellent (that is what you are paying for) ... and the food is spectacular.

Dinner on last night in San Francisco

By bill_of_prospect |

Had a great dinner Monday at Morton’s in San Francisco. Hostess and server were very friendly, offered suggestions, server was very attentive. Great meal!!

The essence of a Great Restaurant....

By Diodoro C |

I was there for a business dinner in a private room. Food fantastic, Wine list and appetizers excellent. Steaks as expected very good and service competent and timely serving you. Quiet and very nicely furnished. It is worthy to visit them....

So damn reliable. In s good way.

By MarkHippo |

There’s a billion reviews of Morton’s as they are everywhere and good places to eat. For me this and s of them are too dark and a little oppressive but my god is the food good. Of my 60 plus visits to a Morton’s (I don’t even live in the US now) and 6 to this particular one in a week, I sit at the bar and always get great service. You just can’t really fault the place. It’s v pricey. But great. The cheaper happy hour Bar food menu 4-6 is very good.

Absolutely worth trying

By Kikka |

Elegant atmosphere, excellent food and very kind and pleasant staff. Excellent service. Very expensive wine like in all places in the USA. It's worth having a romantic dinner.

Consistent quality steakhouse

By NormG1 |

Had a small accident on the way to our early reservation so we called and they said they would work us in whenever we arrived. It was close to 9pm before we arrived, and seated us immediately. We ordered our usual steakhouse dinner - a pair of gin martinis, glasses of red wine and a shared 1lb steak. As usual, the pair of sides could easily serve four folks. Everything was as we expected - generous drinks, properly cooked food, and attentive service. We passed on the desert since they seemed to run 3,000 calories and higher!

Very good steak

By Sarah L |

A lovely steak house but pricey. Great service from all of the staff. As it was my birthday they organised personalised menus, table sprinkles, a printed photo and a complimentary dessert. Fillet steak was amazing but that is all you get so don’t forget to order a side. One side easily serves 2 as portions are huge. Extensive wine list. Budget for at least Ā£250 for 2 starters, 2 steaks, 1 side and a bottle of wine.

Overpriced

By Giovanni S |

Overpriced service. The place itself is OK with spacious tables and friendly stuff. However, it is impersonal and dark, not really characteristic. The meat was OK but we also paid 150 dollars each for just a steak and some fries, so you would expect much more for that price.

If steak is on your mind, this is your place!

By WorldTraveler |

I was looking for a date night restaurant and ended up at Morton’s. You can’t beat the location, right at Union Square. We sat at the bar and had an amazing experience watching all kinds of cool cocktails being prepared. The service was fantastic (everyone who works there is very friendly and professional). We even got to watch the Warriors play as they have a few big TVs around the bar. The main dining room is also very cool, a mix of old school meets modern atmosphere. Next time we’ll sit in one of the booths which looked so fun. The food is soo good! Some of our favorites were their steak (you must have a steak at a steakhouse!)- Cajun ribeye was the winner; the Troy and creamed spinach. And the bread, oh the bread! Some of the best you will find. Amazing evening all around.

Average at best service doesn’t match menu price

By Frank_Cool80 |

Lovely atmosphere and setting but for us the rest was pretty average. Our server looked stretched so we were not taken over the menu of how it worked. Slight wait between being seated and ordering and when the food turned up our streaks had what looked like resting grease on the plate. This apparently is a beef Jus they add to the steak for flavour but at $64 for a New York Strip should it need anything adding? I’ve never seen this before. We paid the bill but didn’t Tip as it was not at all special. Spoke to the manager on the way out but no real acknowledgement that it meant anything he was more concerned with who the server was which is fine but as a guest it felt dismissive. Maybe as we are tourist? If your Charging those prices the service must match, even the entrance needs some indication to walk around to the reception desk as you do stand there waiting for a time before moving around. Better places to spend your money if you do some research. SF great city this place has some great reviews tonight wasn’t so much for us.

Tasty, despite some serious lack of attention to details.

By jjeppson |

Got Morton’s take out on 1/16/21 in San Francisco Union Square. Portion sizes were large, which isn’t usually the case when getting take out. We got Cajun rib eyes which were ordered as medium rare and came back medium well (see photo which shows almost no pink) which is, in my opinion, an unforgivable sin when you call yourself a steak house, yet the rib eyes were still surprisingly tasty and tender despite being a little too salty which I figured must have been due to the Cajun spices themselves. We also got lobster tails, which were perfect as were the baked potato, the lobster Mac & cheese and the spinach with mushrooms. Sadly, the key lime pie was disappointing as it seriously lacked lime flavor (compared to the key lime pies I make at home) and they had too dense a texture (wasn’t as light and creamy as mine). The key lime pies tasted like they get them frozen from some other company which mass produces them; they did not taste fresh. They also forgot to put the salad dressing in the take out bags for my Caesar’s salad and my wife’s iceberg wedge salad and I had to go back, after getting to my hotel, and get the dressing.

Decided to pamper myself after a week of biz meetings. Managed to get a seat despite not making reservations. Food was within expectations and service was top class as waiter keep tabs of the progress and drop by to check if the service or food are within expectations

Great Food... UNTIL...

By bradndawn2016 |

Had a wonderful night with our friends at Morton’s ... food was Outstanding, and The venue had a great ambience.. everything was exceptional until our server so rudely pointed out that our $76 tip was not enough or to ā€œSAN FRAN standards.ā€ Not only was water not offered at any stage of the night... this server left us feeling like crap... ruined the end of our night.. Our friends had never been to Morons and we talked this night up only to be disappointed by our server... sorry Morton’s but we probably won’t be back, or recommend you to our friends...šŸ˜”

card game and video game habitat

By B d A |

Dark habitat, underlit, firm and concise and no frills, calibrated with the calories atteched to the dishes. Fine enthusiastic waiting but as time goes on less so. The meat is overpriced and the sides are sumptious more than the meat which suffers from excessive institutional self-assurance. Well prepared and served but lacking romatic finesse. The bill is steep, the wine selection adequate. It is an eatery that knows some customers better than others.

Excellent Meal and Excellent Service

By GuidingHand |

Having visited another Morton's in Las Vegas I was hoping this branch was as good and I am glad to say it did. Everything was fantastic from the moment we walked in - great service along with the very nice. I ordered the Sea Bass and colleagues ordered the lamb along with the Cajun Rib Eye and every was excellent and really well cooked and presented. To complement the food the Parmesan Truffle Fries are served in a massive cone which one portion was enough for all three people. Actually all the portions were very big and in I am glad we didn't order starters. The prices are high but its backed up by the quality.

Dinner

By CH Low |

We got in without reservation but it was a good experience, the ambience was typical Morton's. The service was good. The lump crab cake was very good with a fantastic sauce. So was the rib eye steak, medium rare with the added sauce.

Great Steakhouse for a Company Dinner

By aladd0417 |

We celebrated our Company's first trade show at the Moscone convention center. Morton's is about a 10 to 15 minute walk from Moscone and right next to Union Square. We had five diner's attend and we all had steak (4 filet and 1 ribeye). All were excellent. One was slightly more rare than preferred and the staff was quick to fix it. We also enjoyed the sides of sour cream mashed potatoes, asparagus, and brussel sprouts. The staff was excellent and the service was prompt and attentive.

Good food, great ambience

By Rakhisyaman |

Good place to drop in after you make your rounds in Union square. Might need reservation. Quick note: burnt onion soup was way toooo cheesy for my taste. Overall, great food. On the higher side of budget. I’d recommend this.

A new low , had better but not worse

By hugmee |

This could be long , but keep it short , Service , from walking in there was no one to welcome us and when we left still no greeter . Absent Time to be given a menu and take a drinks order, the wine came after starters had arrived . The main event . Chef needs to go back to chef school, Steaks need to rest , so the blood is not gushing out of the steak, when cut , and leaving a plate of blood , First went back explained the problem, so the 2 nd one came even worse . Then we had the rudest manager we have come across and may be better looking at a alternative career, as front of house is a skill set , he’s not got . Overall from hero to zero , Morton’s SF have lost it ,

Amazing food!

By samanthaksy |

The service here is amazing and the food was delicious! We did not reserve a table but walked in early so we got a table. More people sat the bar and it was noisy there, but at the back was nice and quiet.

Overburdened staff, leadership lacking at front desk

By billk2345678 |

I made reservations using OpenTable for Christmas Day, I was in town specifically to take my brother out to dinner. Just looking for a steak dinner, no impressions need to be made. Check-in was confusing with so many people milling about. We checked in and were acknowledged, and that is about that. After about 15 minutes a table in the bar opened that I liked so we simply moved there. Who has checked in, who hasn't? Menu in hand, we were at least past the front lines of chaos. Our server in the bar was very competent and was trying her very best. She had lots of tables. I had no problem waiting for her to fold us into the flow that would allow good service. It can be tricky when it's busy and people move tables from bar to restaurant. 2 beverages, 2 appetizers, 2 steaks, 2 sides, and water. Nice simple order that an established high end steak house should have no issue delivering well. It took a while to get anything. The bus boy came out with bread, he looked for where to drop it, gave up and returned to his station with it, I was unable to flag him down. A while later we received our soup and our salad, but the beer and cocktail had not been served yet, surely it had been more than 20 minutes. The wedge salad was fine, the onion soup was barely hot. It had gone under the salamander at some point as was nicely scorched, but it was no longer the temperature of soup served to an adult. Our drinks arrived. I had ordered a special off the cocktail menu. I found it undrinkable after the second sip. Our plates were cleared as our entrees arrived. The steaks were fine, what I would expect, nothing exceptional, I have had better at other Morton's locations, but fine. The creamed spinach was exactly as expected, yay. The onion rings were soggy the second they were dropped on the table, just not even close to ok. No crunch at all. Should have gotten the mushrooms I guess. Reservations need to be balanced better. Everything suffered and nobody got what they deserved. I can live without perfection and be understanding, but the failures here were systemic from top to bottom. There have to be some expectations met for fine dining. Our server was the best part of our evening. The next day I received an email from OpenTable regretting that I was unable to attend my reservation.

Fantasic steak quality and taste

By Greg & Gayle M |

On our recent 4 days holiday in San Francisco we went there twice and loved the food, a bit too expensive.

Thanksgiving chaos

By Adam Pipe |

Sadly the restaurant clearly overbooked for Thanksgiving. Like many other arriving guests, despite our booking, we were told that there remained serval bookings ahead of ours, and to take a seat at the bar. The environment felt chaotic, noisy and lacked a managed approach to accommodating additional bookings on Thanksgiving. After a long while at the bar, we left, sadly disappointed, leaving behind our only negative issue during our entire trip to this great city.

Not one of our good meals on our trip

By MKT |

Pro- Lobster Bisque was very good Had very little meat but broth was very tastey Con- the rest of the story Not really a pleasant experience The waiter was very hasty and short Paid way more attention to table of 6-8 people nearby that was having drinks I get it TIPS The big round loaf of bread or doorstop was hard as a rock filet was unevenly cooked part raw part over cooked potato dish had been in oven too long and WAY too long and lastly over priced !!

Dinner with my son

By marie-claire H |

I wanted to treat my son to nice steak and I did, he also loved the garlic mash potatoes. I did not care for the onion bread, I had the Miso cod and it was amazing. It is expensive as they do not give you any vegetable with your main course,

Training Employees Matters

By ataco3636 |

This was only my 2nd time at a Morton's (in years) and it was my husband's first, but it was neither out first experience in a fine dining restaurant. My husband and I sat in the cocktail area, which the hostess said was open seating, however she did not provide us with menus (none, at all). Our server tried taking our order until we brought it to his attention we did not have any menus; he then supplied us with only the happy hour menu, after which we had to ask for the regular menu as well. The server came off as very cold as if he didn't even want to be there, but eventually warmed up and provided a pleasant experience. As we were leaving, the hostess turned without saying a word...having worked in the hospitality industry, saying "thank you" to your guests is a cardinal rule, yet this is one rule this hostess was not trained on. Very disappointing since they are the first and last person you come into contact with.

Excellent dining option

By Kim G |

We had a fantastic meal at Morton’s, our steaks were excellent and cooked to perfection, the only issue was the service was a little slow.

Unacceptable Service During a Special Family Celebration

By Sharome M |

Unacceptable Service During a Special Family Celebration My family and I dined at Morton’s SF on 10/26 to celebrate my son’s engagement and birthday. We spent over $800 expecting impeccable service — what we got was dismissive and rude. I ordered the House Cobb Salad with ranch dressing and extra on the side. It arrived covered in blue cheese dressing. When I politely said so, the waitress argued, claimed I was wrong, and rolled her eyes before grabbing the plate off the table. Fifteen minutes later, a replacement arrived — by then, the moment was ruined. Later, a bowl of mashed potatoes we never ordered showed up. When my son mentioned it, she said, ā€œI’ll have to check your receipt.ā€ That kind of defensiveness has no place in fine dining. No matter how much a table spends, guests deserve respect and professionalism. Morton’s SF needs to re-evaluate staff training and guest-service standards. A restaurant that charges premium prices should deliver premium hospitality.

Very rude, disorganized.

By Jim E |

Don’t go there! Bad service, very bad attitude! We were in San Francisco looking for something to eat before a play. We walked into Morton’s and were told that reservations were needed, or the wait would be more than an hour. I told the hostess about the play and we began to leave (slowly, I was on crutches). The hostess said, wait, I have a table at the bar, and seated us. We thanked her for her kindness. After about 10 minutes, a waitress approached and pointed at a sign on the table next to ours saying: ā€œyou cant sit thereā€. The sign said ā€œclosed due to COVID 19 ā€. I told the waitress that we had been seated by the hostess. The waitress said we had to go, snippy, and not a bit apologetic. I think she thought we were lying about being seated. We asked for the manager. He didn’t come over, so we went to him. He stared at us with his arms crossed and told us that nothing could be done. By this time, people were staring at us. We were embarrassed and angry. The original hostess was nowhere to be seen, no apology from anyone, just a stare from the staff. This place is disorganized and just rude. Seriously, don’t go there

Such a great experience

By Daniele P |

Me and wife came here because we wanted to have a great experience in a very nice steak house and we didn’t regret it!! Everything was amazing... We got a very nice bottle of Cabernet from California under the suggestion of The sommelier and also the meats were awesome . Of course it’s a very expensive place, but it is part of the experience for sure, if you care about quality. We’ll be back!

Always AWESOME

By Denise M |

I’ve dined in several Morton’s and it has always been an awesome experience. Their food is great and their service is top of the line.

Could be better

By Filipe D |

Very poor service, different from other units I've known. The house was not full, there were employees ā€œreservingā€ but poor and time-consuming service, inexperienced staff.

Looking forward to a steak.

By bigted52 |

Morton’s the Steakhouse was a must do after a week in San Francisco. The loved one and I dressed nicely and arrived early. No reservations, no worries and we were seated by an attentive and helpful waitress. Lobster cocktail, Ahi tuna. Stack were pleasant entrees. Morton Salad and 8oz filet with asparagus pleasant mains. The highlight was the chocolate soufflĆ© for dessert. Nice night, okay food, great service, horrendously exorbitant bottom line.

Great food, terrible service

By Jody C |

I took a business dinner delegation of 3 to Morten's for dinner on a Wednesday night. This is important because the place was not busy. While the food was excellent, the wait staff for our table was terrible. He took a drink order for one person at the table before the other two were even sat down and rushed away. Who does that? Then he couldn't adequately talk about the menu. The appetizer soup I ordered came out 10 minutes after the steak entrees and the sides were delivered to the table. To top it off he wanted to rush through the checkout at the table and wanted me to tell him verbally what his tip was in front of my associates and got angry at me when I responded that I would handle it myself on the signed receipt. It was so off-putting that all three of us were shocked. All-in-all, the food is terrific, but our experience was such that I would not be inclined to return.

Best steak I’ve ever had!

By Brittany B |

We went back twice in one week for dinner because the food was so good. Had the wagu and sea bass. So delicious

Fantastic Quality Steak

By Jim T |

My wife and I decided to eat here on our first night in the city and were very impressed with the quality of the steaks. You will pay for it though, but I think it was worth it. The wait staff was very good and checked in on us quite often. My wife had the petit filet and I had a small New York. The steaks are better than any I've had. We also had a side of potatoes au gratin, which was very tasty and served very hot. Ours was a great meal but be prepared tho pay for it.

Steaks and more

By bcheong |

We usually start off with the caesar salad and lobster bisque, both good. Sometimes the crab cake and tuna tower, good also. For the steaks, usually the fillet mignon, which is very good. The USDA sirloin and ribeye not great unless wagyu or Snake river farm. I would love to try their desserts but never do as i’m stuffed

Excellent steaks and seafood

By Tennismum916 |

Excellent steaks and seafood (Lobster). Loved the chilled Seafood tower. The food and service is excellent! Make sure to make reservations!

Great food , poor service

By Adrian S |

We wanted a special night out so when to Morton’s , ordered our food , couple of cocktails and a bottle of wine , the cocktails arrives , one was excellent the other a Mojito was not good , it was changed for a different cocktail. The food arrived and was excellent, but no wine . We kept asking and was told it was coming . Eventually was told they did not have it, we said we were not happy as we had eaten most of our meals, the manager asked if we wanted anything else on the house , so had a couple of glasses of wine with the remainder of our meal. When the bill arrived , everything was on there except the foc glasses of wine . When I said to the server we were not happy with the service, so left a minimal tip from which point we were ignored, the manager never stepped in even though he was only 3 feet away . Great food, poor service and attitude.

Magnificent birthday

By catax |

Celebrated my birthday with my family at Mortons on the road. Personalized birthday menu, mini decoration and dessert with candle on the house. :) Also the food is magnificent. We had meat, potatoes with truffle, everything was delicious. The wonderful service

Eat steak not salad

By Equanimity |

Ok, I confess it was a ā€œmisteakā€ to go to a steakhouse and not order steak. What did I expect? Anyways ... I had some perfectly satisfactory onion soup - not the best ever, but no complaints. I was asked if I wanted bread, and when it appeared it was a whole loaf of okayish onion bread with some revolting slick of what I can only guess was whipped butter, like something out of a tube. I wish I hadn’t bothered. So far, so not-too-bad. Then I made the big ā€œmisteakā€. I ordered Caesar Salad. Now, I do believe that anchovy is one of the essential components. Will somebody please tell the chef? The croutons were slices of bread baked so hard that the steak knife I had been given with with to eat my salad (why?) couldn’t break it, and nor could my teeth. The Parmesan was one large sliver of what may have been the rind, or then again it may have been the plastic packaging the cheese came in, I couldn’t tell. So my salad ended up as some chopped lettuce with Caesar Dressing. My dining companion had salmon which he declared very nice, with expensive fries. Along with an acceptable glass of wine each, our bill came to an eye-watering $130 before the tip. You live and learn ...

Good steak but at 50$ it should be. Overselling side dishes borderline dishonest.

By Eric Tabet |

Big table of 22 for a big family reunion. They seated us alone in the basement (dark), arguing that we were a big table... so be it. Then they argued that it would be easier to start baking some side dishes to gain some time on "such a big table" and we insisted on remaining reasonable but they oversold us 10 potato gratins, each being enough for 4 people, even as we had 8-10 year old kids with us. This is borderline dishonest. Also, service was approximate, slow at times, rushed at others. Ended up for 100$ per person overall, with just one bottle of wine for the whole table and even if kids shared some steak. Way overpriced and very dishonest. They probably were thinking "we'll drain these tourists suckers for their money"... and we were stupid enough to think they would treat us well. Even at the end, they claim that 200$ were missing whereas they just didn't count properly what we paid - you really don't do that and you count twice before accusing. Stay away from them...

Yum!!!

By msuit1271 |

To save room, we didn’t get any appetizers. We went with the filet which we excellent and tasted amazing. We had a side of Brussels sprouts which at first we thought were undercooked but turned out to be damn good. We finished with their bread pudding which was to die for. The waiter was excellent and did a a great job. My only (non) issue was we arrived at 4:45 for our 5 pm reservation and we had to actually wait till five to sit in an empty restaurant for no reason.

Delicious

By Charlie1625 |

Great steak in a traditional old-fashioned setting. The service was excellent and the food was tasty. The portions are very generous too. This place is not cheap but the quality is worth the price tag.

Great food but not cheap.

By Tim R |

One of the best steaks I've had but it needed to be for the price. A great atmosphere in this restaurant but very pricey.

Ohh the Steaks!

By Dave P |

We ate here for supper one night while in San Francisco and we were not disappointed the food was terrific and done to perfection. It is a little pricey but well worth the visit. Jason our waiter did an outstanding job making recommendations as to what to eat and drinks to go well with the meal. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Marvellous Mortons

By June R |

Great decor. Friendly staff and good service. Fabulous steaks and the best Bloody Mary I’ve ever had. Not cheap but a fantastic experience.

total disappointment

By winaka |

After having a super experience at Mortons in Anaheim La, I had the worst experience of my life in San Francisco, I paid a bill of 107 dollars and the supposed manager did not let me wait for the uber inside the restaurant, making me cold, even me asking for suppoosed manager beucase I ask for the manager and the told is me and not give me the name ! humiliating and I will never go to this restaurant again,

Excellent service, good but not great food

By waterdaughter71 |

Very expensive, as to be expected. Still more than I expected. Our waitress was excellent. Cannot fault the service at all. But the food was only good, not great. Had better steaks.

Great restaurant

By Jim A |

Ah, we always have a good time here. It is great food and a very pleasant environment. If you want a great waiter, ask for RIGOBERTO. What a great guy. We always ask for one of his tables. You cannot go wrong here.

hungry for Meat

By David P |

This is an very old establishment and their known for their stakes. But if you want a good steak this should do it for you.

YUM!

By 29wol |

Great location at Union Square. Very convenient to a lot of hotels. Happy Hour at the bar is the best! "Bar bites" are yummy and very reasonable!

Loved It!

By SpicyRedhead |

This was our first Morton’s experience and we loved it. From salad to dessert, the meal was delicious, and our server was very personable and efficient. Wish they were still in Seattle!

Discrimation

By Chris H |

We booked for this restaurant having used Morton’s over a number of years. We took our one year old who was asleep in a travel buggy (small) On arrival at the restaurant we were refused entry as the buggy would cause a fire hazard. I questioned what would happen if I had brought my father in his large wheelchair whether they would refuse him as he was a fire hazard. They could not give me an answer. I questioned whether they allowed (sleeping) children - allegedly they do. We spoke to someone who was running the floor - who would not give me his name - who was just plain rude. Morton’s seems to believe that they can continue to discriminate in the 21st century without recompense. Let’s all avoid. (By the way Had seven other meals all with very accommodating staff and great service with extremely helpful and accommodation staff in San Francisco so this is an establishment issue not a city issue)

Profiling Guests - Rude Waiter

By Sam E |

When visiting the USA we always choose to visit a Morton’s Steakhouse as we have had brilliant service and food at your restaurants in Chicago, New York and Orlando in the last year. On this occasion our visit was not up to standard detailed below. •Our server Jay profiled us due to where we had travelled from the UK. His service was very abrupt, rude and inattentive. Very different from what we have experienced before. •He offered zero insight into the menu and choices on offer and was just going through the motions. I asked him about a seasonal special and he offered little more than the menu text on this dish. •He was inattentive with drinks, for other USA guests he brought their food over personally and offered lots of interaction. With us he left this to a food runner and very rarely interacted. •Upon finishing he simply asked ā€˜do you want anything else’. He did not recommend desserts or coffee he simply wanted us gone. We would of stayed and had more drinks but felt very unwelcome at this point. •When presenting the bill he simply placed it down and again offered no interaction. With USA guests he was very thankful for their visits. I can only assume that he profiled us do the old thought that people from the UK do not tip. I can assure you even on this occasion we tipped appropriately and will always do for fantastic service. We appreciate a high quality experience and normally get this but this particular Morton’s fell short. We asked to speak to the manager who simply was unhelpful. His suggestion was ā€˜maybe he was having a bad or it was a bad table?’. He did not want to put this right. He offered for the General Manager to be in touch but 3 days later she still hasn’t been. Therefore have escalated this corporately.

Rude service

By Nadine I |

Went for supper Christmas Eve. Ordered an appetizer for my meal - Lobster Mac and Cheese. The waiter pounced on me saying they serve appetizers at the bar. Then he looked at my daughter and asked if she was having an entry. She was. She ordered hash browns but they brought mashed. I pointed it out and he said he would get it for her. She said no she was almost done her steak. It took forever to get the bill and they were super busy you would think they would want our table. Prices were so expensive for such rotten service. The only place we encountered rudeness on our whole vacation.

Quiet Romantic Dinner

By mikesesq |

This is where you go when you want a high quality steak prepared properly. The staff was friendly, the service efficient, and the food was terrific! The wine list was also excellent, and I was able to pick out a modestly priced winner to accompany my magnificent porterhouse. Loved it.

Nice birthday surprise

By Gerbra_10 |

I booked the restaurant in advance and the booking link on the website is open table. When booking I was asked if this was a special occasion and it was, my husbands birthday the following day. But with our flight back to the UK that day we brought celebrating a day early. When we arrived we were met with a friendly greeting and seating in a booth. The paper menus were handed over and it was entitled Happy Birthday, and then silver sprinkles were added to the table. Much to my husband’s embarrassment and my delight. The staff were so attentive. Margarita’s ordered, bread delivered. Steaks, onion rings and mash to share. Delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection, medium rare. We were offered a mud slide on the house for the birthday boy, but we had to say no as we were stuffed. But good stuffed. The decor is dark, but not too dark and the toilets are clean with branded hand towels. Big shout out to the staff, really friendly and made us laugh. Amazing steak, totally recommend this place.

We decide to try this famous Steak house & we were not disappointed...excellent choice of steaks, excellently cooked to our request, great wine selection, wonderful staff.

A solid place for Happy Hour in the heart of San Francisco's Union Square.

By jalfong |

Looking for a place in San Francisco's Union Square to go for Happy Hour, the believe it or not the venerable Morton's The Steakhouse is one of the more affordable ways to go! I know what you're thinking Morton's and affordable aren't two things that are synonymous with one another especially when located in the tourist trap that is Union Square, but color me surprised when a friend wanted to do a quick pup crawl in the area and got some hunger pains while we were walking around. When we arrived at Morton's at about 5 p.m. neither the bar or dining room were particularly busy despite it being Happy Hour and a Friday evening, which tells you everything you need to know about the word-of-mouth about the dining deals going on at Morton's. Once you step inside, it will feel like you've stepped inside a time warp, a sleek yet extremely dark interior from the minute you step in, Morton's is part old-school steakhouse meets wannabe sports bar. We were easily able to find an open table in the bar area, as our apparent server approached us immediately. Although since we were technically dining at the bar, she forgot to ask us for our credit card to leave for our open tab. Nevertheless, they had a wide variety of cocktails, none of which mind you are discounted for Happy Hour and a number of options under their Bar Bites menu, all of which were significantly discounted. We were lucky to arrive at a time when it wasn't too busy and they just updated the contents of their Happy Hour bar menu. After giving their Happy Hour menu a thorough once over, we decided to order the Crab, Spinach & Artichoke Dip serve with warm toasted bread, the Filet Mignon trio, Parmesan Truffle Matchstick Fries, and for myself I decided to order the Tuna Tacos, which were 9 dollars and newly added to their Bar Bites menu. We really liked the amount of food that was served, especially with the Artichoke Dip, and I personally liked the seasoning from my Ahi Tuna Tacos. To wash down my meal, I ordered the Paloma Picosa mixed with Milagro Silver Tequila, Ancho Reyes Verde Poblano, Liber & Co Classic Gum Sryup, Fresh Lime Juice and Grapefruit Soda. It was the perfect combination of liquor and soda that I easily could have order an additional cocktail! We had a great time at Morton's. Is it still overpriced? For sure especially for dinner, but we came for Happy Hour and quite frankly, conquered. The cocktails will put you back, if you order too many, so be best advised to pace yourself with plenty of water. The Happy Hour Bar Bites menu is the only way to go, that way you can sample things like steak or crab cakes without breaking the back. Would I return to Morton's The Steakhouse? In a Happy Hour minute, and only if I'm walking around the best shopping district in the country and in need for some scrumptious bites that won't empty your wallet!

Top Grade Steak

By Adrian B |

This place has a lovely classy feel and a friendly welcome. Staff seem well drilled and are attentive without being over pushy. I ordered the Rib Eye (Medium) and it was cooked to perfection, the sides of Brussel Sprouts and Broccoli were also really tasty. I have to say having had steaks in Cape Town and Buenos Aeries this is up there with them in terms of taste and juiciness. Yes it is expensive but I would say it is well worth it if you like steak and you want a special meal. I was here with a business colleague and would say it is equally a great place to eat for both a business lunch or a special occasion.

Not familiy friendly...

By Andreas Hasler |

We would have loved to dine in San Francisco (Post Street) with our daughter. They serve Hamburgers at the bar. When i asked the waiter if we can order the burger for our 7 year old she told me: "we only serve the hamburgers at the bar". Is this how you threat families? And the manger wasnt interessted at all... shame on you. If you dont need our dollars, we will spend them somewhere else... never ever again... 🤬 oh... we left immediately...

Perfect steak

By mslotman |

Modern steakhouse close to Union square that served us a perfectly grilled medium rare and well seasoned ribeye on the bone to share. We can recommend spinach mushroom site dish and their great selection off red wine by the glass.

Morton’s steakhouse

By snpullin |

Best steakhouse I have eaten in a long time. A friend recommended us and I’m glad we listening to him. Everything we ordered was fabulous. Side dishes are enough to share but a good way to taste a variety of their options. I can’t wait to go backšŸ˜€

Avoid this place and opt for Harris' or HOPR

By JGabbard |

To start the service is terrible. Servers who make twice the minimum wage plus %20 percent on an $80 per person average meal, while also enjoying a food runner and bussers to back them up, should never act put out, especially when its their incompetence and poor training that is the cause of the problem. After two years of Covid you'd think this restaurant would consider what it means to have customers again and to enjoy the merriment of a less grueling holiday than last year. Waited 50 minutes for my meal, and an additional 30 because they served our order to the wrong table. Never checked on us, never apologized for the mistake. We saw the meal delivered to the wrong table then sat there for 30 minutes while the guy talked on the phone. When he finally complained that this didn't look like his order, the waitress walked the meat back to the kitchen and then tried to serve it to me. Absolutely disgusting especially during Covid. After that I asked to speak to the manager. The manager comped everything but by that time the meal had been completely ruined. The meat when it finally arrived was completely raw owing to the fact that the kitchen rush fired it (not rare). I am a fan of rare meats, but this was a pork chop, so not exactly a meat one likes to eat undercooked. When a different waitress asked me me if there was something wrong with the meat, I told her yes, in fact it was completely undercooked. She asked if I wanted it refired or replaced I said no thank you. She left and 10 minutes later the original server came back with the pork chop from the kitchen to argue with me. At that point I had to ask her what her problem was and why she felt the need to come back to my table and argue with me when I hadn't asked for a replacement or any additional accommodation to be made. By that time our sides were cold and there was nothing to do but leave. Spare yourself the trouble and go to Harris' or House of Prime Rib or one of the other small gems in San Francisco. Morton's is not a good value particularly if you love food and a classic steak house ambience.

Fantastic atmosphere and service. The food was euphoric

Great taste and service can be recommended at the strongest šŸ‘ service atmosphere and atmosphere is to take to feel at absolutely magical

Excellent

By Vanps3 |

Excellent food. Service. Atmosphere. Can’t fault it. A bit impersonal. Incredibly expensive for what it is but that’s their brand. You could have similar for less cost elsewhere but a great experience

Strange service, dissatisfied;(

By katrin b |

We were a group of 10 people, booked table in advance. When we came one by one of our group, the hostess did not let us have a seat at the table because 2 of our group did not arrived yet! Really strange! We prepaid the deposit and was staying next to the door with no permission to seat and have some snacks and beverages VERY DISSATISFIED AND DISAPPOINTED

Classic!

By Yolyni |

Classic steak house, great dinner option for steaks. Concentrate on the steaks and some sides; we like the filet mignon and the rib eye, the spinach and the fries with parmesan and truffle. We lime the cheese cake and the creme brƻlƩe, we do not like the chocolate soufflƩ.

Great bar & restaurant close to centre of town

By MarkG1__11 |

Very friendly bar staff. Food is first class but a little pricey, around £70 a head if you want a nice steak.

Quality to die for

By 2Horst2 |

San Francisco was not the only Morton's we visited. The quality is just great. It's always the way you ordered, the sides a perfect quality too (especially the veggies) und the wine list is great. You feel a bit that they don't have to look for customers, so the staff is very correct but a little chat or joke would add tom the good picture. Expensive but worth the money.

Morton’s for a later dinner

By Lisa Cott |

We had big plans for dinner Sunday evening but ran out of energy. We strolled over to Morton’s off Union Square and sat in the bar. The service was okay, but slow and not top notch. No bread offered, only one water when we asked for two, etc. My onion soup was good. It met my expectations. Hubby’s copped salad was very good and 6oz filet was very flavorful and cooked to perfection but a little tough on the edges. Good experience but sad to waste an opportunity to do something more memorable.

Fine Dining in SF

By harley m |

First, my GF and I are from Las Vegas and eat out a lot on The Strip. One of my favorite restaurants in Vegas is Joe's so I compare Morton's to Joe's. The restaurant itself is a steakhouse so its between Casual and Fine Dining. The lighting is more romantic lighting. The tables have linen tablecloths and standard steakhouse silverware. The waiters are in standard steakhouse clothes, no jackets. Reservations are requested, but were not required. Dinners are on the expensive side, even for SF. Our waiter, Rashad, was very attentive and nice. The restaurant can appear to be pretentious, but if you get the right waiter it can seem casual. We both had filets which were perfectly cooked. They were topped with lump crab meat (Oscar Style). The seasonal wild mushrooms were excellent. All in all it was a nice dinner, but expensive, $230 with dinks and before tip. So, there are a lot of nice restaurants in SF, but if you want to splurge, go to Morton's. Just take out a loan ahead of time :)

Not special, high prices

By Edward K |

The decor a throw back to an original steakhouse. Dark woods, subdued lighting, nice bar area, dining room separated by a heavy wood rail. it was busy on a Saturday night, & as walk ins we waited for a high top table in the bar area to open up. The meal was enjoyable. Three of us tried various mixed grills. The bread loaf looked appetizing, but deceived. Nice wine selection. Our server was very pleasant, but very busy. Morton's was the most expensive restaurants we visited during our stay. We didn't feel the price matched the meal.

Good steakhouse near union square

By ASpitz |

Good steakhouse. My 8oz fillet was a cut of perfect quality and cooked on point. The french fries on the side were on the salty side. Very friendly and attentive staff. Good selection of wines in the upper range. I can recommend mortons for a good dinner.

Wildly Overpriced... Value does not justify Price

By KirbyandJenny |

Visited this steakhouse in April while the wife and I were on a short vacation trip. My instant reaction was this restaurant was WILDY overpriced. I was expecting to pay a premium based on reviews, but truthfully was not prepared. For example, we ordered a Jumbo shrimp cocktail that was fairly par for the course. Since the cocktail only had 5 prawns, the waiter asked if we would like three additional prawns so our party of 4 could each have 2 shrimp... Upon receiving the bill I saw that each of those shrimp were billed $7.25 each, so my three extra shrimp were $21.25. Add that to the $24 for the ā€œbaseā€ shrimp cocktail and you have a ā€œjust okā€ $45 shrimp cocktail.... Was also disappointed in the mash potatoes side dish... Again, paid a premium and didn’t get something much above a box of instant mash potatoes taste wise. The steaks were good, but not so much better than any other fine steakhouse I’ve ever eaten... Probably the most memorable part of the meal was the bread service. They serve a onion bread loaf that is made freshly and they will refill the table if you ask. I won’t eat here again. I just didn’t get the value for the much larger price tag. If you are craving beef, go to the ā€œHouse of Prime Ribā€.

Best Steaks in Town

By Andre B |

I have eaten at Morton’s several times. Great service, the best choice in steaks and prepared exactly as you ordered it. Delicious. Superb wine list. Great all round menu. A food night out.

All Class.

I booked this bride for a private function of 70 pax. It’s is a first class venue and the staff were also excellent. I highly recommend.

Perfect place if you love steaks

By Alexandre B |

Are you prepared for a big peace of meat, cooked to perfection, served with delicious sides in a nice atmosphere? Bingo! You just need to go at Morton's. I tried the new york steak and have no regrets, absolutelly

Bestest meat

By aphmann |

Great venue for the all american big steak - a must for meat eaters, preferably on busy weekends - don't miss

Unbelievable steaks!

By Maria S |

We were there for dinner. Most of the time you need to have a reservation in order to be sure that you will eat. We had the kajune steak that is really spicy, but tasteful otherwise. The prices are a little bit high if you compare it to other steakhouses. The service is fast and very helpful and polite!

A great Happy Hour in Union Square

By Michael M |

I went to happy hour at Morton's and enjoyed it very much. I had the filet sliders and the crab cakes. Server Linda at the bar did a great job.

avoid and find a better restaurant.

By Partner792 |

This is the worst sort of place. I ate here in late November. The steak was average at best, the wine list good and the service slow but ok. I could have coped with average but having a surcharge added to the bill to cover costs before service was excessive. This used to be a nice restaurant - now it is a tourist trap. Avoid

Rather dim, but truly delicious

By Jud1thmason |

I like to see my food, but the lighting was so subdued it was as though they were saving on their electricity bill. The filet mignon was melt in the mouth delicious and the parmesan and truffle matchstick fries were excellent. This is a real treat, though my bank manager would complain if I went here too often.

Good experience

By Titti |

We ate the large seefood plateau. As an appetizer, a plate of lobster mac and cheese. Both dishes were exceptional. Fast and courteous service. More than honest account. Definitely coming back

San Fran Dining

By ShinnersKildare |

We honestly hadn't a clue where to eat and had just arrived in the city, we were staying a couple of doors up in Kensington Park so it was easy to find, service was excellent , Food was AMAZING, not the cheapest but worth it

Wonderful Experience!!

By RetiredKJ |

Wonderful meal with a great waiter! Recommend the rib-eye steak with one of the butter sauces! Table for six… all enjoyed!

Surprisingly negative experience

By Walter C |

Lobster tails were good. But the old age Ny strip 66$ medium cooked was a disaster. Burn outside and medium inside, burn because the cook did not turn the meet on the grill. In addition, there was a large slice of fat. I had steaks in Morton steakhouse all over USA, always perfect, here in San Francisco it was a negative surprise!

What Happened, Morton’s?!

By bobfinboulder |

Okay, it’s a chain, I get it, but it was still one of the better chains of steakhouses. Never minded paying 40 bucks for a good steak, because it was a good steak! But this last visit was just plain bad. The (usually good) French onion soup tasted like cubes of instant beef bullion from the spice aisle of the supermarket. So salty, I took two spoonfuls and pushed it aside. Okay, maybe the steak will be okay.... and it was,.... but then the creamed spinach was more cream than spinach and again, somebody in the kitchen got a deal on Salt from their suppliers, ā€˜cuz the spinach is so salty that it kills the taste of the steak entirely. There’s other flavors out there besides ā€œsaltyā€, guys. Best I can say is that the WhistlePig Rye served neat and extra deep was the best part of the meal.

Much better steakhouses in SF

By Girl with a Planner |

I couldn’t be more disappointed with our experience. We’re locals, and wanted to start a yearly tradition of getting together for the holidays. We decided Morton’s would be a nice place to do that. I don’t know what was worse: the service or the food. Firstly, we sat for at least 30 minutes before I had to ask if we could get menus. The server was very rude, and managed to insult almost every one of us by the end of the meal. We didn’t realize how awful he was until we all talked about how disappointed we were afterwards. Just one example: one of the women in our group has Celiac’s disease, she asked if the green beans were gluten free, and the server just said ā€œI don’t know.ā€ He never went to go ask anyone, just said that he didn’t know. She was so confused by his flippancy, she didn’t know what to do, so she just said ok. I honestly was quite impressed that one person could manage to offend that many people in a two hour period. That takes a lot of skill. The food! Forget about the quality not being that great, but the majority of our meals weren’t cooked well. We had two women in our group, myself included, that are currently pregnant. I am normally a medium rare person, but had to order my steak cooked medium due to the pregnancy. The steak came, I took a couple bites and it wasn’t even medium rare, the steak was black & blue. I had to stop eating it. I asked the other pregnant woman, and she said she had to stop eating hers too for the same reason. We didn’t want to say anything, because neither of us wanted to deal with the rudeness again. By the end of the meal, I looked around & not one person at the table finished their meals. That’s impressive on its own, since we had plenty of guys in the group who live for steakhouses. I told my parents where we went, and my father said that he’d heard the same feedback from many of his friends. Our main takeaway from this experience is that our yearly tradition will be established at a different San Francisco steakhouse.

Wonderful Christmas Dinner

By Pearhare |

We were hesitant to book due to some of the reviews, but we took a chance anyway. We were very pleased that we did. Our waiter Ruben was very helpful and polite. The steak was so tender. The sides are enormous - the baked potato could feed 4. It is not inexpensive, I would plan $100 per person - without drinks. Thank you for a wonderful Christmas dinner - will return.

Good meat, but complicated care!!!

By jose hugo M |

The meat was fantastic, ordered a New York Strip, but the service was bad, very, I had to order the drinks several times, mistaken several items from the account for more, with 78 dollars of things that we did not consume. After departures and arrivals, did not want to admit the errors in the service, but in the end, after a lot of inconvenience paid account.

Stunning Steak

By D-Butel |

A small group of frinds enjoyed a steak dinner here recently and we were extremly impressed. All the steaks were simply first class, and the service matched. When in SFO, I will be enjoying this food again for sure. It's not cheap, but it is well above the quality of a normally priced steak dinner. Great for a special event.

Great steaks

By Dan P |

I’m never disappointed when I go to a Morton’s for steak. My daughter and I went for a dinner on a Monday night to celebrate my last night in SF. I ordered the Manhattan cut 10oz filet and my daughter had the lobster tail. For sides we had Brussels sprouts and asparagus. All the food was prepared as expected and tasted delicious. I prefer my steak seared on the outside and raw on the inside and my steak was cooked just right. Our server Tori was very polite and always at our table at the right time. For desert we had the chocolate mousse which was very tasty and light. I recommend Morton’s if you are craving steak but they do have other great options.

Good steaks, service OK

By Jon |

Good steak bordering on great. I was a solo diner and loved the idea of the wine flights, which allowed me to try some good steak-wines without without needing to commit to a bottle or more. My server brought me the wrong flight (she ordered a more down-market selection than I asked for) but the wine was still good (I didn’t realize I was drinking the more downmarket selection until it had already been served, so I just went with it). I enjoyed the meal overall but my general feeling was that My server was trying to maximize efficiency instead of really engaging with me over the menu and selections.

Overpriced!!!

By Fiona A |

My steak was beautifully cooked and tasted good. But WOW the prices!! I was totally shocked, even by San Francisco prices. We had 3 steaks, spinach, mash potato and a bottle of wine and paid $460. I was flabbergasted and I live in Switzerland where everything is really expensive. I cannot justify paying $65 for a steak. Had I not been with 2 other people I would not have chosen to eat at this restaurant. San Francisco is generally more expensive than I thought it would be; but these prices were truly shocking!

Good food, huge prices

By Carol_Fal |

Brace your wallet, this is goint to hurt a bit. The meat was great, all the food was actually very delicious so we didn’t mind so much but dinner for two, sharing a small salad as appetizer and also sharing the desert, with a good (not great) wine came to cost USD 350. The place is nice, has a nice looking bar and stays opened late, which was perfect for us. One thing that hurt almost as much as the check was the service: way too slow. We spent close to 10min just to be given the menus and the amount of waiting just kept on and on in all the steps.... I think it was about 1h just waiting for the waiter... I’m not sure I can recommend this place.... you decide. Good food, good hours, pricey and slow as hell...

Morton’s doesn’t disappoint you.... Good cuisine

By PadreFamilia |

Morton’s does not disappoint... the exceptional food, very good drinks bar, the very attentive and VERY friendly waiters.....our waitress a bit serious but very good function. If you like a good cut of meat you should come!

Great place for a steak

By preben k |

We just loved it - the service was great - maybe because the restaurant was less than 1/4-full. But anyway, the steak, the wine and the sides was just top-notch and this is an invitation for another Morton's anywhere in the US

Great steak and atmosphere

By Marje1902 |

As Brits abroad we were looking for a great steak and weren’t disappointed. Be prepared for top London prices tho.

Great food - but get a table

By OCDane |

Sat in the bar area, and I must say, the amount of dropped glasses/plates were way over average and made it a noisy experience. My check took quite some time to get and I had to ask for the sides for my baked potato. For the price I expected more. But food was very tasty.

Great Steak!

By NickyTwoHats |

So if you want to experience some of the best steaks and seafood in a US "chain" this is the place to go. I cannot criticise the food, the ambiance or the service. It's all "just so" - not perfect but very good. Don't visit in JPM week - the prices go up and the staff are instructed to "up sell" so if you ask for a steak be VERY careful to say what size. Understandable but not good service - especially when a friend is paying the bill. Go there - be specific about what you want and it's better than good.

Best steak

By NickBlaireLee |

We shared a 12 oz mignon . Have to say best steak we have had. Perfectly cooked. Also the 5 onion soup was brilliant. Great atmosphere

Stay away, rude and dirty

By Daniel |

Left after 40 minutes. Very poor service. Waited 25 minutes for booking made at 8 pm. Said to waiter I do not understanding why waiting as empty tables. He said I cannot help as we are busy. Plenty of empty tables. We had a drink at the bar, I asked if I could pay with dinner but appeared a massive issue, in the end just felt embarrassed. We were brought downstairs to a dirty room with lots of carry out dishes by the rude host, sat at a table not set for 2 people. The room had a load of carry out dishes on other tables, not cleared. Waiter was nice enough but after waiting a long time for service when he said I am busy but I will be back in a bit, that was enough we left. This place is not worthy of the Morton’s name, find something better. There are loads of good places and this is not one of them.

Good service, quality of foods ok

By mattpX6956SG |

Group of 20 persons. The service was very good, just the waiters filling up the water glass were very motivated to fill up always... Quality of food was ok, but for at least for 2 persons the steak was burned at least on one side.

Great steaks

By Myrna P |

Me and my bf came by for a quick dinner as we were craving for steaks. I had rib eye and he had fillet mignon with sides of creamy spinach and truffle fries. The steaks were delicious. Perfect! Melts in my mouth! The service is good, and food came out on a timely manner. I am looking forward to come back again. Highly recommended. Worth the price.

Awesome 2-LB Lobster and Champagne!

By Susii3003 |

I was visiting San Francisco and Morton's was having their annual one night only 2-LB Lobster Special. I was solo and could not pass up this fantastic opportunity. I was seated and Melissa introduced herself as my server. After looking over the wine list, I chose a split of Domaine Chandon Brut to go with my salad and Lobster. The champagne arrived right before my salad. Both were really great. Then came the Lobster. WOW! It was awesome. Fresh, succulent and yummy. No room for dessert, HaHa. Great server, awesome food and lovely evening. Highly recommend Morton's for Dinner, Happy Hour and their special 2-Lb Lobster. Enjoy!

Best of three steakhouses visited over 3 days

By Tim P |

By chance went to 3 steakhouses while at conference. This was by far the best. Nice atmosphere and good service. Prices are on the higher side but the food was excellent. We shared the special steak for two which was cooked perfectly and the crab cake starter was good as well. Extensive wine list with good options across price range and we had good advice from our waiter. They are open later than some as well which is good if you are stuck at meetings till late.

Best Steak Ever

By mcbevo |

We were visiting here from Australia & can honestly say this was the best steak we have had in a restaurant in ages. The flavour was excellent. My brother in law had the rack of lamb which was equally delicious. The service was excellent - a real fine dining experience. However very expensive!!

This place was spot on! Expensive, but high quality, really nice restaurant.

By Todd Travels |

Was out on business and stopped in here for dinner at the bar. I used to live in S.F. so I've been here multiple times, and most times are without incident and a good time, and this was no exception. I do see the other reviews are showing as average, but my experience was top-notch. I had the N.Y. strip and lobster, which was fantastic. Perfectly cooked and high-quality meat and lobster. I also had oysters to start, which was really good. I had key lime pie and a coffee martini, but what made my bill the most is the s Four glasses of $40 cab, which was incredibly good! Bill was over $300 just for me, but half was wine, as usual, but I was happy I went

table full of bar bites

we had filet mignon sandwiches, 9oz filet mignon, and fresh cut potato chips, price was discounted as it was early..all were very good..quiet atmosphere except for one loud couple, location is great..good place to meet at the end of the day

Worst Private Event Experience

By Daydream02296096164 |

Held a private / banquet event at Morton's to celebrate a milestone birthday and it was the worst experience. I regret celebrating such a special birthday there, the bright spot was my family and friends, but the downer was the service and the food. The pre-event planning was good, but the day of the event, there was no planner or coordinator, just waiters. This caused quite a bit of confusion since they got the number of seats incorrect and had to reshuffle the tables and chairs and there was really no one to answer our questions. The drink service was really slow, didn't even get our first drink until 30 mins after we arrived. Throughout dinner service, we were never asked for another drink, we HAD to flag them down to ask for another. They got multiple orders wrong for the starters, but my group of friends were so kind and just let it slip without complaint. However, they did get at least one of our steak orders wrong and I practically had to argue with them to take it back and order the correct one. It was obvious that their communication skills were mostly poor and didn't take down the right orders. The steaks were subpar for a steak house. The quality of meat was definitely poor as well as the lack of proper sear on the ribeyes. The ribeyes were mostly gray in color without the sear and was quite bland and tough. The NY steak was much worse that was overcooked and my guest commented that it was like eating leather. The filet mignon was marginally better of the two. At the end of the dinner, I paid the final bill and was just about to leave with my friends for the next destination, when I was abruptly stopped to wait while they re-did the bill because of the change in steak order. Remember this was their mistake, yet they want to charge me more for their mistake! I told them we ordered the more expensive steak and if it is a credit, they can keep it because we are late and have to go. But no, they insisted I wait, which we did for 10 more minutes, then they finally said we could go everything was fine. Sheesh this is unheard of! Then over one month later, they charged our credit card for another large amount of money because they said they forgot to charge us for appetizers. They did NOT receive our approval for the charge and they still added a 15% tip and 5% banquet fee. The food, service, accounting, billing practices, and private event coordination was the worst. Stay away and go to a real steakhouse. We will never come back and will warn as many people as possible to not make the same mistake we did! Morton's of SF is obviously in disarray and they do not conduct themselves in a professional manner.

If you want to have to BEG to be served, eat here!

I normally don't share bad reviews, but this wasn't my normal experience at Morton's. I went to Morton's to unwind and break up my incredibly stressful work week. I deserved to treat myself, and didn't realize that my visit would be so frustrating, with nothing being done in recompense, that I would actually CRY to the manager in frustration. Already stressed (travelled from Canada to find out in the air that my mtg was canceled due to COVID-19 and we would have 6 days of online seminars from 8-5 straight)). Busy days at work. I chose to treat myself and also put some money in an industry that I know has been suffering due to the pandemic. Went to Mortons bc it always seems to change my mood. This time it was for the worst. The restaurant was pretty empty and I sat down at a table in the bar (bar area has about 8 ppl total) for 5 min without being acknowledged by any member of the staff. I got up and asked the bartender for a menu to place an order. was told that my waiter would give me one, so I sat back down. Waited 10 more minutes without a menu. Left neglected as my server was bustling back and forth cleaning an empty table next to me (still no acknowledgement...I tried making eye contact). Went back to the bar to say I would be leaving. Mgr overheard me/ convinced me to stay/ someone would help me. I was frustrated but I stayed. Waitress came & took my order. No bread was offered. I asked if my server would be bringing me any bread, and was told ā€œusually the guests ask for breadā€. Meal was good but didn’t taste as enjoyable because my mood was now annoyed by the neglect. Paid the $130 bill for my dinner. Was disappointed that my frustration and neglect didn’t seeem to warrant an offer for a coffee, drink or dessert . Left a tip because I remembered what it was like putting myself Thru university as a server. On my way out I was asked by the manager, how was my meal. Tears of frustration started to form in my eyes as I retold my experience. The manager was friendly and said sorry as I left. She took my information. I paid $130 for a dinner for 1 to be treated like I didn't even exist. My issue is that once the problem was made known, no recompense (coffee/dessert ) was offered. I could have saved $120 and ate at Chick-fil-a where I could be treated with respect. I worked at a high end steakhouse for 8 years and I understand what good customer service and making a customer feel valued looks like, and this wasn't it. The manager was nice, she acknowledged that they dropped the ball in making me feel like they actually care BUT, that doesn't change the fact that nothing was done to feel like they cared. Actions speak louder than words. This is a place I bring my clients to entertain them, routinely, across North America, but after last night's experience, I don't see that happening again. Morton's you REALLY dropped the ball on this one!

Left feeling utterly disappointed

Extremely awful - terrible service, shouty waitress, average food and extortionate price. The worst experience of our holiday by far.

Last night in San Fran

We picked this restaurant because we wanted to have a nice steak before we went home. The staff were great and knew there product. We shared our steak as it was so big and it was cooked the way we asked. Great place to go .

Steak lovers know and appreciate Morton’s

By MatthaeusSeinel |

Like most steak restaurants in the USA, the atmosphere is very dark. The meat is of the highest quality and is prepared to perfection. The starters and side dishes were also very tasty. The service is professional and friendly. The wine list is endless, with an estimated 1,000 items. The prices are extremely ambitious, even by US standards.

Steaks and more

Visited more than 10 morton’s around the world. Love the bread and lobster bisque (so much brandy in it). Desserts are great too (like the keylime pie) but usually too stuffed to eat them

Just as good as expected

You can’t go wrong with Morton’s. I visited multiple location across the US and this one is just as good at every level as I have been accustomed to. Great service, tasty steak cook to perfection. I’ll keep coming.

Amazing steak and fab service

Visited on our last night in San Fran. Didn’t book ahead but didn’t have to wait for a table either. Visited on a Thursday night. Service was fantastic. Menu was great and the food was excellent. Lovely setting and amazing steak. I’d definitely come back and recommend to others

Morton's: what's not to love?

By 69LisaRain |

The atmosphere, the old school interior, the staff and the food ... all was truly awesome. The husband went rib eye. I chose the honey balsamic salmon accompanied by parmesan and truffle shoestring fries and creamed spinach. It was sublime. Ok, so it wasnt cheap, but for a romantic dinner a deux, it was fabulous, especially washed down with a Francis Ford Coppola Pinot Noir. We loved it. It's the perfect place for a special evening. If you're in Ssn Francisco, go!

Bring your wallet steak

By rfsalomone |

We don't have Morton's where we live so this is mainly for people who never tried. I have always heard of this but I have notice that all major cities have at least one now. First with the service. It was above average I would say. No long waits and very friendly servers. My wife and I split a New York strip. It was cooked perfectly and was very good. The au gratin potatoes were ok, I wished we picked a different side. My son had the slider burgers and they were average as well. I was satisfied with our meal. The only knock is this place is way way too overpriced. I don’t think they are as good as their prices indicate.

Wonderful steaks

By T&D |

Wasn’t too sure as we walked in, as it seemed like a bar. However don’t be fooled... as you’re shown up the corridor it opens up into a big restaurant. Our waiter was helpful and polite as you would expect.. However the food was the main reason for coming and it didn’t disappoint!!! French onion soup and Parma wrapped mozzarella to start where nice The 6oz and the 8oz fillet was excellent, cooked as per requested and so very tender. A shared desert of Morton’s legendary hot chocolate cake was a perfect end to a lovely meal We will be back!! Next time I’d have a dessert each and skip the starters and just have the bread basket! But that’s just personal preference.

Disappointing for Morton’s standards

By Alexandra L |

I went to had a family dinner in one of the tables at the bar area with our kids. I was very surprised to be requested for the credit card before ordering. When the waitress saw my face, I think that she realized that the request was very upsetting and instead asked me if I was a member of Morton’s. It happens that I am, but I did not have my card so I just gave my phone number and I could order normally. At the end of the dinner I requested to speak to the manager to see if requesting the credit card before having dinner is a common practice because, honestly, I felt discriminated. He explained that they usually do that because that have faced situations in which people have consumed and left without paying. If that is the case, they can run this facility as they want, but I have been a customer of Morton’s for close to 20 years, have been in many of them all over the States, tens of times in the ones in Miami, and I have never been requested for my credit card in advance prior to order. I have not even been requested for my credit card in advance in any other restaurant or place in San Francisco nor in California. Aside from this aspect which is the one that drives this review, food was ok, but meat was overcooked (strange thing in Morton’s). Two of the plates didn’t include the exceptions that we requested, and invoicing was wrong overcharging us in close to $30. So I am giving the lowest rate to this experience of a $200 dinner Disa

Super delicious

By Sonja M |

We happened to pass this steakhouse. Based on the menu menu and the reviews we decided to eat there in the evening. That was the best decision. The food was super delicious. The steak came in the desired cooking degree. The fries were also good. The Mood was right - you could still talk well. The Noise level was very pleasant. The price was also right for the performance and quality provided.

Cracking food but expect a bill

By Rhodri D |

We booked this for a Saturday night. I had a bottle of red, my partner a glass of white. No starter or desert. I had the 22 oz ribeye and my partner the sea bass. With the tip $370. Really well cooked food but very expensive. Service was great and if we ever go back to SF, we’d return here .

Terrible everything

By RknRon |

Not even a full pour drink, they gave us the late night menu and served food off the menu and charged us more for it. Service was terrible as well

A Classic!

By Lisaannie1997 |

Great restaurant, great food, great atmosphere! It was the night before Thanksgiving, we were there to visit family and to see a show, and this was our first night in SF. It was amazing!

Never disappointed!!!

By Yolanda E |

This was a lovely experience as usual with Mortons. Always a GREAT dining experience. Our server was engaging and kind with a dose of friendly humor. The service is only surpassed by the excellence and quality of the food. The filet mignon was a tender delight. The standard creamed spinach was something you could make a meal by itself. A fabulous dining experience.

Best Bar Bites

By Liz S |

We have been wanting to try the happy hour at Morton’s and now we are believers. I ordered the file mignon Trio each served on a large crouton. This was incredible. Cooked to order and looked like 6 ounces of deliciousness. Served with three different sauces tasted wonderful with each bite. I loved them all. My husband ordered the crab cake sliders with bacon and he raved over it. Atmosphere was comfortable and made for easy conversation.

DANIELLE SOARS

By Jim A |

It was a brilliant night at Morton's for our party of 9. The highlight was a bartender named DANIELLE. Her attention to detail and excellent customer service got everything off on the right foot. She was extraordinary. From there, great food, good service, and they do everything to make sure it is an eventful night. This is a place we frequent because we can always depend on them. We did miss RIGOBERTO

Anniversary Dinner

By Katina W |

We had dinner at Morton’s to celebrate our wedding anniversary and birthday. The staff was awesome. I would recommend this nice quite restaurant.

Not my first time and it won't be the last

By Tere A |

As mentioned in the title I have been here before and was delighted to confirm that the quality is consistent. You can order whatever you want, but you can't go to Morton's without trying the ribeye. Service can be slow, I guess they want you to drink more wine ;) So make sure you let them know how in a hurry or not you are

Romantic Date Night

By Andrea B |

My husband took me here while in San Francisco and it was such a romantic atmosphere. Everyone was dressed up and the white tablecloths and black napkins were a nice tough. We had reservations and were seated at a great table kind of off to the side, away from closer tables. We had the most delicious dinner. The lights were dim, the wait staff we all friendly and prompt! The lyonnaise potatoes were the best potatoes EVER! The steaks were amazing... the bread was amazing. We totally enjoyed ourselves and our meal. It’s definitely a place we will go again and again in different cities across America! We highly recommend Morton’s to everyone. It’s pricey, but worth every penny!

Very Good Restaurant

By Carmelo S |

Normally I give a punctuation of 5 to this kind of restaurant; very good service and good food. Not a good variation on the menu but not bad. They also offer a good variation in drinks, mostly in wines. I'm giving them a 4 because the cost of the food was very expensive mostly in the meats. Example, a Filet Mignon (12 oz) the cost normally are between $20+ & $30+ and I paid $61.50 and include no sides. We were a family of four, with the exception mentioned before, everybody on the table was completely satisfied.

Very nice dining experience

By Greg H |

We were visiting San Francisco and I chose to take my wife to Morton's for her birthday dinner. We were not disappointed. The steaks were excellent as were the sides. The service was fantastic. It is expensive, but it was a very good meal that we still talk about.

Just don’t go here!

By Karl |

Me and my partner decided to have dinner here after reading some nice reviews but oh we were disappointed. We were very pleased with the first impression of the place itself and the cozy feeling. The food was good but kind of pricey but that’s not uncommon in SF. We were looking for a nice evening to end our holiday in San Francisco but left the restaurant furious! Now to the bad part that ruined pretty much everything! As we were paying the waiter suggested us to tip 34$ which I felt was a little too much due to the total price of the food and also for the extra fee of tax and some other thing about employee services that totally added up 20$ of the bill. As I was going to pay he asked me how much tip I wanted to give and I said 25$, then he said with an irritated voice ā€œsorry what? Did you say 34$?ā€ I made clear that 25$ is what I’m comfortable giving and then he puts the amount in on the card machine and just sneezes at us and after the payment went through he just turned his back towards us running away in anger. Not even a thank you for tonight or asking if we were happy about everything! I’ve been to the US many times and I’ve NEVER experienced anything like this! Certainly not after spending 190$ on a dinner for two. Oh btw! He also saw me dropping my fork on the floor but never gave me a new one. I’m not usually the guy who complains but this is totally unacceptable, if I’d knew he was going to act that rude I wouldn’t give him a cent. If you want to be treated like a peasant this is the place for you!

best in town

By MAHMOUD ALKHALDI |

I usualy go to any Morton restaurant in different states, simply the best despite high bills, worths every penny

A great place to eat meat.

By AlbytheBest59 |

Probably the best filet in San Francisco, great wine choice. It is a relaxing atmosphere. Service is perfect. The right price would be 20% less, however do not miss this Morton's in San FRancisco.

I would try a different steak house. Not worth it.

By Neha M |

The restaurants ambiance is great but it's incredibly overpriced for the food you are getting. We ordered the lobster Mac and cheese and the lobster was so chewy we couldn't eat it. I literally spat it out. We also had crab cake, chicken and steak. The steak was good, the chicken was very lack luster and the crab cake lacked flavour. It's not worth the $200 we paid.

Excellent food and exceptional service

By Roger L |

Gorgeous food, excellent wine and great friendly service! In a lovely ambience we had the 5 baked onion soup which was superb and the mixed grill, filet minion, jumbo prawns and scallops were perfect. Relatively expensive but worth it to spoil yourselves with a great experience.

Nice restaurant

By WhereintheUSisMikey |

We stopped at Morton's for some drinks and appetizers and ordered the Oysters on the half shell and they were fresh tasting and good. The restaurant was very busy so we just ate in the bar area. The restaurant opens at 4pm and stays open until 10pm on mon-fri and 11 on Sat and Sun.

Not good

By cat t |

Service wasn’t what I expected. We have travelled to Orlando/Miami/Houston.. and we never have experienced bad service until now. The waiter took so long in attending to us. The lamb chop I ordered was tasteless... the twice baked potato was very dry. The only good thing there was the Cajun steak. The cream corn was abit chunky and dried out, usually it’s creamy and nice. And I would know because we go to them all over. It took forever for our food/bill/ drinks .. horrible service. Usually they move the booth for us to come out.. didn’t even happen. Idk what to say. Ambiance is still good the hostess very nice to us. That was about it. Could have been a bad night?.. idk

Amazing Steak!

By Thomase77 |

We shared a tomahawk steak with spinach, asparagus and the Lyonnaise Potatoes - all was fantastic! We ordered the Steak to cooked medium & it was cooked perfectly. The waiter was super friendly & gave some amazing recommendations. Definitely would return

Great Steak in San Fransico

By P2M |

Great food and ambience. Service was excellent and wine pairing with the steak I had was perfect. Sides were ample for sharing and very tasty. My wife’s’ pork cutlet was also cooked extremely well and delicious. All together a great meal. This place is not cheap, but I thought for the quality of the meal it was worth it.

Great steak

By Corre10 |

We're used to eating decent steaks and Morton's did not disappoint. We both had the Manhattan cut due to the size of the rest of the steaks. Add in a side of broccoli and Lyonnaise potatoes it was a perfect dinner. 16$ for sauce on the side is a littler pricey however. We didn't opt for starters or desserts. Soft drinks and a small beer brought our total for two ppl to $180, not including gratuity. Pricey but good food. Server was attentive and polite.

Great Steak Dinner

By Stuart I |

Corporate evening in private room. Really well cooked rib eye supper. Quality meat that has been properly matured. Attentive staff, good facilities and atmosphere. Well worth a look.

Great service, tastey menu and cosy environment

By Christian B |

The perfect place for 1:1, business or family dining, where you get very good steaks, a propper service attention in a very cosy environment.

Ribeye to die for

By Travel LifešŸ’• |

I know it’s a chain, but the steaks are to die for. Everything about this place brings us back time and time again

Senior Citizens Beware

By Jimmy C |

They do NOT accept the senior citizen AARP discount. On the AARP website it states Landry’s Restaurant chains accept the AARP discount. Morton’s is part of this chain. So sad they don’t help our our senior citizens. Other than that. Food and service excellent.

Very good steaks

By Frank dB |

Here you can eat very good steaks! It is at the price, but gives value for money. Extensive wine list. By the glass certainly affordable and very good.

Disappointing

By Ciao_LM |

Long wait for the dishes. The ribeye was very fatty, half of the steak was inedible. The crème brûlée very disappointing. In short, I absolutely do not recommend.

Left feeling Underwhelmed

By Brian H |

Difficult to fault the food, steak was cooked perfectly and sides were great as well. Waited nearly 15 minutes to get a menu after being seated and the place was only a quarter full at best. Nice surroundings but for what it cost, this restaurant disappointed as the bill was high, but the experience much less so.

Wagyu fillet, TOP

By Fabius1968 |

Typical American place, with a bar counter and dimly lit. Discreet service. Went to eat the Angus and wagyu meat, satisfied with the choices made. The costs incurred, for us Italians, are high.

Don't waste your time

By eke-ono |

We have visited Morton's before and we were not impressed. Decided to give it another chance. Very slow service from the kitchen. Our impression is that they want you to raise your bar tab and then give you dinner. This occurred in both visits. They don't give you any bread or breadsticks with your cocktails. We waited 45 minutes before saying anything about the food and it took another 15 minutes to get it. When we received the sliders they were small, half the size of the bread, and dry. The tacos did not have any sauce on them. At least they were edible. They took back the sliders to make new ones. !5 minutes later still no sliders. The manager came to the table, at least we think it was the manager, all he did was bob his head and say sorry and walked away. They did comp the sliders after giving us new sliders in a a container. This was an eighty dollar dinner. There drinks and two tacos..Never again.
