My favorite Japanese restaurant is Moshi Moshi. I took friends to come here for a birthday lunch celebration. I have dine here several times but this was the first time for both friends. The restaurant is under new owners and I was a bit worried but the food was exceptional as always. I love their bento lunch which is only served on weekends so I made sure it was on the menu. I always get their spicy tuna which is amazing. They give you a couple options for what to add to the bento. Everything we had was delicious. Their vegetable tempura is wonderful and made with a light batter. We also loved their mochi ice cream. You can choose 2 flavors from the Chocolate, Passion Fruit and Yuzu (Asian citrus) was incredible. Another friend had the Matcha Crème Brûlée and said it was the best she had and she dines a lot to Japanese restaurants. The restaurant is very pretty and you can have a decent conversation and be heard. I also want to give a shout out to our excellent server, Michael, who was very attentive and made our special outing so special.

Moshi Moshi is my favorite sushi restaurant in Washington. Quality is always high. Happy hour specials and the chirashi are both very good values. I once ordered omakase style-an excellent experience. Cocktails are creative and delicious.

Had to catch a ferry to get to the mainland and our schedule went sideways when the summer traffic caused a 1 hour ferry delay. We knew we would miss our reservation and the staff was VERY accommodating and said they would find seating for us when we eventually arrived. We also had the added constraint of having to leave quickly for another event. They were lovely. They worked with us, took our order on the spot, had our food on our table in 10 minutes, our bill in 30 and we were out the door on time! Food was very good. We eat sushi in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, LA, So Cal and found this place able to hold its own. Delicious rolls, and decent choices for sashimi. We will go again but this time for a slower, more reasonable dinner meal. The neighborhood is great. Moshi moshi roll, goma-ae, geisha rolls were all very good.

Sunday is all- day happy hour with great deals on rolls, appetizers and drinks. I don't eat fish but I love their tempura vegetables, veggies egg rolls and cucumber/ avocado rolls. Great selection of sake and alcohol, the Sierra madre cocktail is my favorite. Moshi is at a great location in Ballard and the staff is very friendly.

This was one of the best sushi performances of all time. Ben is a magician and of all the places I have had sushi around the globe this place tops them all. We were entertained like royalty and had the freshest of the fresh. The miso based clam soup is unique, the uni was like butter and the ikura was like Mom's greatest dessert. We will be back over and over and over. Thanks Ben, I wish we could clone you and take you back to Toronto! And don't forget to ask for Mizubasho sake.

Moshi Moshi is one of my husband and I's favorite sushi places in Seattle! We have been countless times and it is great every time. Make sure to make reservations in advance because they get VERY busy especially on Friday and Saturday nights. The service is always a little slow but the wait staff does make sure everything is good for your table multiple times throughout the night. The big lighted tree is wonderful :)

Perfect quick bite location in Ballard area of Seattle. Rolls are yummy as is their tempura! Only a few seats outside

Great location and great food! The sushi rolls ranged from traditional to innovative. And the price was very reasonable!

This is truly a great place for reasonably priced sushi over happy hour. Went on a saturday evening. Starting with the super fresh and hot edamame to flavorful innovative sushi rolls it was a great unexpected meal. Nothing pretentious. Middle of a city block. A very cool huge light sculpture in the center of the restaurant. Friendly and attentive wait staff. Love this place. Will definitely be back.

Good sushi and sashimi selection and some tremendous rolls too.... Good service but a little slow overall, cute restaurant with decent atmosphere but again really good fresh fish.....

I was very pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. I've gotten so accustomed to the mediocre sushi that is the norm in Seattle. The only reason I don't give Moshi Moshi an "Excellent" is the prices. And, perhaps, the stupid name. We ordered agedashi tofu, yakisoba with chicken, saba oshizushi, a redhot roll, a Ballard roll, and a ginger-san roll. They have an extensive cocktail menu. We chose pints of draft Sapporo. The agedashi tofu was perfection, the best I've ever had outside Japan. Heck, sometimes the agedashi tofu you get IN Japan is not this good. The yakisoba looked and tasted like yakisoba, whereas the norm in Seattle is to serve panfried spaghetti noodles tossed in teriyaki sauce. The saba oshizushi, was good, and my wife's favorite among everything we ordered. Mine was the redhot roll, and both of us were very impressed by the Ballard roll. The ginger-san roll was also good, but we agreed it was our least favorite of the rolls we ordered. Service was very good as well, the food came to our table more or less at the same time, A person circulated filling water glasses and taking finished plates. The waitress was friendly and paid attention without being overly intrusive. Moshi Moshi is a bit out of my price range to go frequently, but for a splurge or special occasion, I'd happily go back.

Totally relaxed atmosphere here inthe Modde of old Ballard. Full bar, excellent sushi and really friendly people. Walk the neighborhood then come in for great food.

Very cold environment. Staff is unfriendly and threw a fit when our party of six wanted seperate checks. The sushi was mediocre at best and way over priced for what we had. Save yourself the experience and walk a half block down to Shiku sushi.

Went here with friends with a baby, service was great and they really looked after us. Restaurant was beautiful with a large tree light display. The Sushi was good but the portions did come up quite small and we had to order more. Pricing was fair, so overall a good experience.

Very good sushi and nice ambiance, Ballard area of Seattle. I ate at the sushi bar and enjoyed watching them making my dinner!

We are Seattle natives and live in Ballard. This is a well known and reputable sushi place. A great ambiance, on a lively avenue with lots of bars and restaurants. We have never been disappointed here with the food - a safe bet for good sushi if you are willing to spend a little more. Last night we went with a bother couple and did the Omasake (chefs choice). For $50 a person, we had a six course meal - every plate was appetizer or larger size (not just a tasting plate). We were also served dishes not on the menu. Everything was delicious and it was a real treat!

Very friendly staff and delicious food! Reservations are recommended. The vegetarian Green Goddess Roll was outstanding! And though they no longer made a drink that was posted online, the bartender made an attempt at something close to it and it was so good!

If you don't like true sushi and sashimi -- but prefer specialty rolls like California rolls with lots of mayo, you may like this place. Otherwise, stay away. The limited items of sushi were just mediocre, services was poor, and ambiance is lacking. If you want some really good sushi/sashimi in the area, walk a couple blocks up the street to Sam's Sushi, Much better overall and half the price. Did I mention Moshi Moshi is way overpriced for what they offer.

Second time to dine on sushi and sashimi and it was as good as I remembered. Fresh. Flavorful. Our super friendly and knowledgable server, Eddie, took good care of us. Very attentive to our birthday celebration group.

Nice option for sushi in Seattle. Nice greeting on arrival and extensive menu to choose from. Was all really fresh and tasty. Would certainly return next time I’m in town.

Delicious sushi, calming atmosphere, felt very safe in spite of covid as the restaurant has very high ceilings and takes all safety precautions. We especially loved the Rumi roll named after the owner and the dessert roll. Yum!!!!! We will return!

While the menu is interesting and some of the offerings are quite good, it is a place that can offer a very bad experience. The wait staff is overwhelmed when they are busy and the kitchen can't keep up. You may order three things and find that they are served out of sequence and over a rather long period of time. Also, your order may be messed up. At least one of the three dishes may turn out pretty bad while the other two will be good. It wasn't like this in the past. With so many good sushi restaurants in Seattle, don't risk a bad time by going here.

Cool lit up cherry blossom tree in the middle of the restaurant. The sushi IS good but totally over priced and there are so many better places in Seattle. Service is pretty lousy.

Great selections. The friendly waiter was well trained and offered suggestions and explanations when asked. My wife is not a sushi fan but she was well satisfied with the soup, salad and tempura offerings. The atmosphere is bright, modern and upbeat.

My husband and I came here for a Sunday happy hour, and had a very good experience. The restaurant is cozy and in the main part of the Ballard neighborhood. We were seated immediately and had good service throughout. We tried the spicy tuna roll, seattle roll, eel avocado roll, and then scallops sashimi and white tuna sashimi. Based on our experience, the sashimi seemed to be very fresh and of good quality. The rolls were a good size and tasty. I think prices were commensurate to the quality and portions. I would definitely go back if I lived in the area.

I am a long time sushi lover. Moshi Moshi checked all the boxes for quality, freshness, presentation and art. They have a cocktail bar as well as beer and sake. I would rate it as expensive, somewhat noisy and the staff is busy. We arrived at 6:00 on a Sunday, hoping to avoid the crowds and enjoy the interaction with the sushi chef. Didn’t happen. The crowd preceded us, My wife and I personally enjoy a more peaceful setting where the evening is more enjoyable than eating in a busy train station. Enjoy.

Tried this while in Seattle for work. I am a maki fanatic and this place held its own. The spicy salmon maki and eel maki were great. The seaweed salad was perfect too.

We went to Moshi Moshi Sushi with a Groupon and were very pleased. The placed was packed but the hostess was able to seat us at the sushi bar within a couple minutes. I've read that service at this restaurant wasn't very good but we couldn't complain about the wait staff on this night. The waitress was attentive to our needs and our water glasses were always full. We had edamame, 5 sushi rolls, and the tempura ice cream for dessert. Our favorite rolls were the veggie tempura and Jack-san rolls. The decor was modern asian with a beautful and huge light garden tree at the center of the restaurant. My only complaint was that since the sushi bar seats were right in front of the entrance, a cold draft of wind would go up our backs every time somebody opened the door. But overall, we had a great experience at Moshi Moshi Sushi.

My husband and I and my sister and her husband came here since we were craving sushi. We were seated 10 minutes later and they had all day happy hour Sunday. We ordered mostly sushi and eats on the happy hour menu, as well as some other items on the regular menu. So expensive for small portions (even with the happy hour savings) and mediocre sushi. We had to wait so long to get any service. Once they take your order, don't expect them to come by very often. You have to basically smack them or something. Otherwise, they walk by your table while attending to others so quickly and avoid eye contact. It took us 30 minutes just to get our bill and then another 15 for them to bring the bill back for us to sign. Wouldn't bother coming back.

We are locals, have visited Moshi Moshi several times in the past two years and they have never disappointed. From time to time, you can get discounts on Groupon or Living Social, so be sure to check. They also have a sushi happy hour, which is definately worthwhile. We prefer the rolls: an entire page on the menu is devoted to them. Moshi Moshi is located on Ballard Avenue, which is in a suburb about 30 minutes (depending on traffic) northwest of downtown Seattle. Ballard used to be a primarily Scandinavian immigrant community with a strong blue collar/light industrial/maritime flavor, but in recent years, many of the old industrial shops and storefronts have been converted to upscale restaurants, bars and shops. A few of the old dive bars have survived, but Ballard Avenue and the surrounding two blocks offer a broad range of bars and restaurants. if you are a tourist and don't mind getting out of the downtown/waterfront tourist area, a trip to Ballard will provide ample places to eat, drink and hear live music.

Moshi Moshi offers excellent sushi and sashimi in an informal but elegant setting. Located on a main street in downtown Ballard (northern Seattle), it is conveniently located and prices are very reasonable (particularly at the happy hour). The serving staff was pleasant, helpful, and prompt with delivery of orders. I enjoyed some of the best Toro sashimi I have had in ages.

Went here for the first time with a large group of friends. Overall, really good sushi, though a little on the pricey side. Tried two rolls and the scallop skewers (I think it was a small plate, not an app) and they were delicious too. If I didn't live on the opposite side of the country in Atlanta, I'd go back more frequently!

It's not easy to find a sushi restaurant that can accommodate a group of 12 in Ballard. I have to admit I called Shiku Sushi first, and after the man who answered the phone scoffed at my request to make a reservation for 12 and offered no further assistance, I decided to call Moshi Moshi. Moshi Moshi accommodated our group fantastically. Edamame is served as an appetizer on the house. The Artisanal cocktails are nicely made and sapporo drafts go great with each sushi dish. We sat upstairs at a long dining room table, our service was great. Tracy, the manager, was more than helpful. My husband and I love salmon and tuna, so we ordered and shared the Geisha, and Seattle roll, and the Tuna Love. We ordered a second Tuna Love because that was our favorite. The restaurant is nicely decorated with a huge tree decorated in white lights behind the bar, it's a great view from upstairs. It was a friend's birthday, so the staff brought out a nice dessert. Our server was nice enough to split the checks up as well. Try out Moshi Moshi with a group of friends and a fun night in Ballard.

Beyond Edamame, there are tempting starters, like the tempura avocado. Inventive sushi rolls, wide selection of saki, and creative cocktails. Large branch lit tree in the middle of the restaurant lends itself to a warm, cozy place to dine. In the upscale Ballard neighborhood of Seattle.

We made reservations for our anniversary and were seated upstairs at a ridiculously tiny table -- I know there's a desire to reserve the larger tables for 3-4 people but I'm going to stop accepting tables for 2 that can't accommodate the food and drinks. Hubby thought the softshell crab with udon was bland; my sushi selection was fine, but would have liked something more exciting than a tekka roll to round out the nigiri. Service was tolerable but the noise level was not. If you go, sit on the first floor. I think Sam's Sushi in Ballard is a better deal.

I was told this place was awesome. No not in this persons opinion. The sushi I had was just average. Didn't taste real fresh to me. I felt like you were NOT paying for good sushi but for the ambience and the high rent in Ballard. It is a fancier restaurant with modern decor opposite of the place I do like just around the corner...Sam's Sushi & Bar. I went once and haven't been back.

This was my first time at this popular little sushi place. It seems like a lot of people come hang out here for drinks. We came for sushi dinner. Service was excellent. Their menu is a bit limited, not a ton of sushi selection. However, the sushi is very good, nice and fresh. I loved the takoyaki appetizer. My sushi was very yummy. Prices are a bit expensive for what you get. All in all a good experience.

Our first here offered a great mix of classic sushi and some harder-to-find appetizers, like the tiny charred peppers and the best agedashi tofu we've had in the US. It's only been a day, but I'd like to go back for more of that tofu right now. We also tried the poke, which for once wasn't drowned in soy sauce but nicely mixed with seasoning, seaweed and cucumber that made it taste more like a fancy sunomono. The folks at the bar next to us were very happy with their cocktails, which aren't always a highlight at sushi places. Another highlight on Ballard's overly foodie main street!

Great sushi and atmosphere. We were helped and waited on immediatly. We traveled with a small child and everyone accommodated us.

I have eaten sushi at various places across the US and Canada and the sushi here was definitely so of the most fresh tasting that I've had. I was seated as soon as I arrived and found service to be quick. When ordering the sushi chef did seem to question the amount of sushi I was ordering, which at first I wasn't sure how to take it but ultimately took it as a compliment. I surprised him with my ability to eat all that I had ordered and he ended up fist-bumping me when I finished. All-in-all I had a great experience.

Atmosphere is great with great staff in lovely decor with gorgeous tree like lit up dominating room. Three rolls and kalbi short ribs were average: not great, not bad, just middle of the road. Much better sushi out there.

It’s looks pretty basic inside with no frills and I wasn’t convinced it was going to be a good choice when we first arrived but the food was fantastic. We are mostly the sashimi which was fresh with a wide choice of dishes. Staff were friendly, service excellent and a good evening was had by all. Now to try London.

Great sushi that takes reservations in the heart of historic Ballard. Very good fresh rolls that stand up to some of the better sushi restaurants in town. This place is popular so go early or make a reservation. Plan on the food and the service taking a little bit longer than desired, but it is worth the wait. Portions are fair and many different rolls are available!

If you want great sushi and creatively delicious cocktails, this is the choice in Ballard (or for that matter Seattle). Shiro's may be the gold standard for sushi but this place has the entire package. Great food, beautiful decor and wonderful drinks. Perfect for a date as this is less of a nightclub and more of a serious restaurant.

We were brought to this restaurant by a friend that lives in Ballard while visiting Seattle for the weekend. The places was packed when we arrived - we later found out they had just done a groupon deal. Too bad we didn't have one! We waited about 10 minuts to be seated, despite having a reservation. Our reservation was for 10 minutes earlier, so granted we were a tad late. However, the restaurant called us 20 minutes before our reservation to ask if we were there. Then again as we were walking to the restaurant. When we arrived, no table for us? Lol. I guess 10 minutes late is a no no. We aren't used to parking in Seattle! We order in several bouts, just sharing a few rolls, nigiri, and tempura as we went. I think we ordered: shrimp tempura, salmon nigiri, spider roll, Seattle roll, Ballard roll, and mad-i-san roll. We liked some more than others, but more due to personal preference. Two of us ordered sake samplers, which were fine, but nor my favorite. I'm not a big sake drinker, but thought I would take the opportunity to do as the Romans. My husband ordered the French kicks, which the waitress had made a bit sweeter for him. He only wished they had served it in a manlier glass. The waitress brought a creme brûlée for dessert, as we were celebrating a birthday. Very sweet of her! We enjoyed each having a taste. Next time we are in Seattle, we may go to this place out of convenience, but will probably want to try somewhere different.

We've gone to Moshi Moshi for several years. Good food, fast service, fun interior. The happy hour is a good bargain. It's in the old Ballard neighborhood so there's shopping near by and a good coffee shops nearby.

Moshi Moshi consistently serves high quality, delicious sushi. I have never been served anything less than "very good."

They do not have their act together. The hostess is clueless. Made us wait for 40 minutes to be seated and then sat us in seats that were empty the whole time. Food was ordered - 4 items. First item came after 20 miutes. Second 10 minutes later. Last two items, not at all. They had one sushi chef working and the place was busy. On a second, and last visit, same terrible service. Food that was supposed to be served warm was cold and the bartender served as the waiter. Stay away from this place, there are too many other good restarants in Seattle.

We love sushi, and ate here because another place was too crowded. This got crowded too, and only had one waitperson!! He did his best, but was overwhelmed. We thought the sushi was ok, but certainly not excellent. Have had much better for less money and shorter wait. Seems to be a trendy place, but don't go there expecting great food. Quality of the salmon we got was nothing to get excited about.
Happy hour made us happy
On a busy Sunday in Ballard where we worked up an appetite just finding a parking place, we lucked into their early happy hour in sync with our late lunch. And despite crowds at the Farmers Market, there was plenty of space in the cool light restaurant at 3:00. Miso soup was the best I've ever had. All of us, including three children, enjoyed our selections. Vegetable tempura and sashimi from the Happy Hour menu were good. Pot of excellent green tea was perfect. Worth waiting for!
