We made reservations three weeks in advance for the anniversary of our group. We were asked to wait in the lobby until all had arrived and then it was still another 15 minutes before we were seated. On making the reservation we asked for one table to accommodate all of us (14). We were seated at two separate tables. After our order, we waited another 75 minutes for our food. This was a brunch reservation and the restaurant was not crowded. There were lots of empty tables. When I received my meal - Shrimp and grits- it was not hot, just warm. But as I had not eaten all day I ate it. The manager did come over, speak to us, and offered a significantly reduced bill. But I'm not sure I will go back. My group is a brunch group, and every month we meet somewhere new. This was the first bad experience we have had and it was bad! Sorry, not sorry, I can't recommend.

We went to celebrate my best friend's birthday and I have to say this place is very nice. The staff were awesome for the most part although the service was slow. We were there as soon as they opened and there weren't may people there so not sure why the service was slow. The food was delicious. I actually had their take on the caprese salad. The mozzarella was fried. YUM! I also had the lobster bisque. It was delicious although it could have been hotter. The decor and atmosphere was..... well you'll have to see that for yourself. They have indoor dining and outside on the deck. It was pouring out by the time we finished our meal. We were just hanging out in the dining room. The manager said they didn't mind us hanging out. We didn't want to take up the table for other diners, so we asked about outside. There was some deck dining available under cover out of the rain. The arranged the tables and then took us upstairs. We got the VIP treatment. These people were just wonderful. Be sure to take a look at all of the decor when visiting. Even in the restrooms. Oh and be sure to look at all of the photos of all of the history of the ship. Amazing. Would love to go back the next time I'm in town. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon.

Fine dining on over 100 years old impressive ship and excellent service, I went there a few times. However, I have to say it is a little bit overrated regarding the food, its good but not phenomenal. Sunday brunch is okay as well. If you are looking for a romantic and majestical dinner on the waterfront, it's your spot. You will be paying for the view and the parking of course.

Came here for a function - front half of the boat was rented for our party. Lovely experience to be on the boat. I actually explored the boat itself and had a great time looking off the main deck. Drinks were good Can't comment about the food as I did not eat any. Looks like parts of it turn into a dance floor - wish I could have danced on the boat! Maybe next time!

The Moshulu didn’t disappoint us for our first anniversary dinner!! The calamari, swordfish and double cheeseburger were what we ordered, and were ally very yummy!! We ate on the deck on a breezy summer night. It was so nice out, and a romantic setting. Our only issue was with the service. It took a while to get water, and our waitress seldom came to check on us.

Visited the Saturday before Mother’s Day to celebrate. Hugh disappointment. The short rib were tough as leather swordfish flavorless. Dessert cold. The waiter very abrasive and unfriendly. The bathroom smelly and unsanitary. Will not ever return or recommend.

Decided to celebrate our anniversary here, largely for nostalgia's sake as we'd been here back when we were dating 30 years earlier. As others have noted, you're really just paying (overpaying) for the views, and the novelty of the location. Moshulu is an interesting contradiction of both upscale and downscale at the same time. It could be really nice, but you get the feeling they just don't need to, or care enough to bother. Upstairs deck bar has comfortable furniture and great views and a potential upscale feel. But then is marred by no waitress service or bussing - used dirty plastic cups everywhere. Soggy napkins on the floor. Nothing on tap, beers served in cans. Drinks served in plastic cups - even for wine. Bartenders lackluster - I watched him try and jam an oversized lime slice into a can of Corona before the customer asked for a plastic cup instead. For some reason, they had no food service despite being on the menu. One gentleman, who I thought was a patron - but who we saw serving drinks downstairs later so a bar manager perhaps - spent most of the hour we were on deck trying to hit on two girls at the bar (unsuccessfully), rather than clean up the empty cups that littered the deck 5 feet from him. Downstairs things were only a little better and probably overpriced. Again, nice atmosphere and great views. No wine list - just what they have at the bar. Hacienda Cabernet ($6.99 a bottle retail) for $12 a glass. The waitress was a little confused - brought the wrong check to the next table, then had to unwind that. Menu was odd and didn't seem to have a theme. My guess is many folks just do starters as it seemed there were as many starters as entres. The same menu that features a $49 strip steak, sushi, and truffled gnocchi also highlighted a burger and a french dip sandwich as entres? Bizarre. I guess they're just trying to appeal to everyone. Lobster Bisque brought out with a dollop of some cold mush on the side that I suppose was intended to show there was actually Lobster - though the menu listed "contains shrimp" so you can guess. It was fishy and only moderately warm. Served without a spoon by a different food runner server so it just sat there for several minutes staring at me. Then I was brought 2 spoons. Dumplings were rubbery and felt refrigerated, but not bad. Truffle Gnocchi was light and not doughy which was good to see. Ended up with the French dip sandwich which was actually tasty - just odd in a location with linen tablecloths. The clientele was really mixed - some dressed nice, a number of folks wearing Eagles Jerseys and hats, shorts and sandles - and several tables of kids nearby. To their credit, they did acknowledge our anniversary with a card and wrote happy anniversary on our dessert - but ironically brought the wrong dessert. We ate it anyway. I might go back for drinks - as I noted the views were lovely and it's a nice space for that - but the menu and management need some help.

Great ambiance! Awesome waitress. My meal was fine—my husband could not eat the ribs-they we’re not cooked through enough. But great place—excellent muscles.

We booked very late on a Saturday, but got a reservation. We went early so we could explore the ship. The upper deck had a bar, and one can sit down and enjoy the view from the deck. The 4 masts are impressive! Our table was not ready, but we were seated at a large open table until our window table opened up. The staff was very accommodating! We enjoyed a great bottle of champagne, our glasses were filled up during dinner. The halibut was delicious and so were the scallops. The most tender scallops my husband ever tasted. For desert I enjoyed the Creme brûlée. I rate the Creme brûlées, and give it a good 8. My husband enjoyed his strawberry and rhubarb compote. Delicious! The restaurant was a bit noisy because of a college party. But they all moved to the upper deck disco later on. Better check if there are any big parties if you like a quiet evening. The service and food was excellent, and the ambiance was exiting. Thanks for making our anniversary dinner so special!

Not only was it a very unique dining venue, but excellent and very good value in comparison to the cost of many of the otother local restaurant to the prices of many of

Moshulu is a four masted vessel, built in Scotland in 1904. This windjammer is docked off Columbus Blvd. and is now used as a floating restaurant and bar. It is not far from the USS Olympia. They have wine, beer, cocktails, appetizers and a raw bar on the Beverage Deck. Happy hour is M - F 4-6 pm. We chose to have a drink and watch the Delaware River flow by. Most relaxing.

Really a special place. Oldest 4 masted tall ship built in 1904. Now an upscale restaurant and event location. Food was good and reasonably priced. Good service.

We had the most delightful brunch with Moshulu. The portions were great, the service attentive, and the atmosphere fantastic. Crab cakes benedict? OMG. Smoked Salmon Toast? HUGE! We were driving so we didn't go bottomless, but you can, with champagne and bloody marys. 10/14 will visit again.

I have difficulty walking due to a recent accident. We were here for a company function. 190 people. Appetizers upstairs then dinner downstairs. You have to go outside to get to party area. Yikes if cold or rainy!! Appetizers were yummy tho! NOT HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE!!! Very challenging getting downstairs to dinner. !! Once there, not enough seating some guest had to sit at bar to eat!!! 1 buffet and 1 carving station to feed ENTIRE GROUP!!! Long lines oh and then they ran out of prime rib. Then trek back upstairs for dessert and dancing. Ran out of desserts!!! I heard it was yummy. Took me a bit to get back upstairs!!! Food was good, service was good but for an event of our size I feel like they were under prepared and were cleaning tables and linens before our evening was over to rush us out. Soooo May be ok for dinner but not a corporate or large event and NOT HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE!!! Was disappointing!

The food was delicious, loved the ahi tuna appetizer. The portions were a good size and the specialty cocktails were delicious. It was a warm sunny day and we ate on the upper outside deck.

We were excited to dine in such a unique setting. The menu offered a decent variety of breakfast and lunch offerings. The wait team were engaging and friendly. The best part of Brunch was our 10 year old’s chicken tender and fries. The turkey panini was burnt. It was uneaten and no one noticed. For $160, we left disappointed and hungry. Two stars for cool boat and nice waiters.

We hosted a ~150 person event in the Moshulu ballroom and we could not have been happier with the experience! From the planning to the execution, the Moshulu team was amazing and provided such a great experience. Their staff on the day-of was so friendly and helpful. The food was amazing and guests were raving about it. They were also incredibly accommodating for guests with food allergies. We hosted the cocktail hour on the top deck in November and with the heating lamps, it was the perfect temperature and guests still got to enjoy the beautiful view and special setting. This is such a unique, Philadelphian venue to host an event. Thank you, Moshulu, for such a great day.

Took my wife to dinner here on Saturday. It was her first time. I haven’t been since the late 80’s. The food and service was still impeccable. My wife had seafood that was cooked perfect and it was fresh. I had a ribeye that was excellent. Still a great restaurant.

Great spot for a romantic dinner, good service and good ( but not phenomenal ) food. Overall I think it is overpriced

We had a very important family event to celebrate so we went with six adults on a weeknight. My husband specifically called and asked for a window table as we had been there for our anniversary previously and had enjoyed a lovely seat by the window which had made for a delightfully romantic evening. When we got there, however, they seated us in the middle of the restaurant by a very loud party of about 14 and told us that they never have tables by the window for six, and this was it. We were very disappointed as this is an expensive restaurant and we were running up a huge tab for the occasion, and the whole point of it was to be enjoying a view of the river. It felt to me like bait and switch because obviously the person taking the reservations at the restaurant knows what kind of tables exist. It was far too late to change restaurants. Two of us got the salmon, which was delicious. But two of us got the French dip which was dry and rather tasteless, so disappointing that the two in our party didn’t even bother to eat half of it. Since the waiter disappeared and didn’t come back to ask us how our food was, we didn’t try to send it back. The Thai noodles were good. All in all, rather meh.

Website says Happy Hour M-F 4-6pm. Lies. Went there Tuesday and no happy hour. Sign out front says Happy Hour M-F 4-6pm. Lies. Went in at 4:15pm and they have no nothing open. Lady up front says we will open at 5pm. So I ask her if HH starts then at 5pm and she says no. Manager standing right next to her says nothing. Obviously not well managed. Definitely don't visit. Overpriced and poorly managed. Several other couples showed up at the same time and were turned away also.

Took my wife to Moshulu for our wedding anniversary. What a wonderful treat for both of us. Extremely easy to get to and parking was not only convenient but inexpensive. The place was elegant and the staff extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Although there were other diners it felt intimate. The food was great. It you are looking for a wonderful place for a wonderful time, Moshulu is the place to go.

We visited on New Year’s Eve and had the Price fixe menu. The boat is a beautiful setting for a wonderful meal. For starters I had the shrimp cocktail and my girlfriend had the scallops. This was an excellent first course. The shrimp cocktail was good as well as the scallops. A great way to start our meal. For our second course I had the short rib and my girlfriend had the lamb chops. The short rib was perfectly cooked, so tender and flavorful. It was served with veggies which were very good. The lamb chops were cooked at a perfect medium rare. The last course was a raspberry cheesecake along with a chocolate mousse. By this part of the meal we were so full but we found some space for dessert. While we dined we were able to go to the top deck in order to see the fire works which were quite the treat. We had an excellent server who took care of all our needs, Patty did an excellent job of provided suggestions and also making sure we were able to see the New Year’s Eve fireworks even though our meal was half way through the serving. Great job Patty.

From the service to the meal-excellent all around! The fresh bread had a wonderful flavor to it. The mussel appetizer was divine. When the meal came out, everything was cooked properly, the presentation was perfect, and the portions were just right. Great experience! We will definitely return!

only went once many moons ago when i was working, but i had a milestone birthday & always remembered the atmosphere of this ship and the history esp being italian W grandparents coming from italy.. Well went with my sis and fiance, & i enjoyed both the meal and the ambiance.. My meal was amazing good was chicken breast w/mozzarella mushrooms arugula prosciutto & balsamic type glaze, my sis loved the Crab cake my finance had a tender delish steak..he raved about.. Now this is a bit pricier than most places we dine..except for special outings and really having to pay for a side of potatoes extra ..$12 is bit much but is way it is i'm just not use to it...rich for my blood..lol.. But we had a couple great desserts and coffee and while it cost.. it truly was worth it judging by the tasty entrees.. I'd go again maybe try lunch..but cannot say enough how good the food tasted & the wait staff was attentive. Very polite & twice mgt checked if all was well..yes it was!!! this place it just feels so special..& love the view, when i'd look at the water i felt like i was moving a bit..& I didn't even have a drink..haha !! Was a great birthday & my fiancé's birthday day after.. quite a memory for this old girl...

It was a place I've passed and never knew it existed.the food was great and the service was excellent and the view was beautiful. they also had a lil club upstairs for a lil dancing after u eat

We had a great lunch on board ! Great drinks and service. Our waiter was very professional and attentive. One of the best hamburgers I ever had.

Great ambience for a memorable event. Portions are generous (better be !! For the price). We had the crab cakes which had generous chunks of crab. The ribeye was exquisite. All the plates were well constructed, presented and tasty. Dessert was crepe brûlée and was also perfect. As mentioned the ambience of the place is great. Get early to get some great pics during the evenings and the night.

This was a unique place to dine. Food was great and the service was ok. It felt like they were understaffed. I would have appreciated more of a heads up about our food being do delayed.

Had a romantic dinner with my wife for our anniversary. If seeking a great atmosphere for an anniversary celebration, birthday, graduation, etc, then Moshulu is the place for you. The seafood options were terrific.

Great service and location with amazing views. Food is average. Nothing special. Somewhat pricey but you mainly pay for the views. Good place for a romantic dinner.

This antique ship and restaurant was an incredible pleasant surprise. The Hilton Penn is a short walk away, and we stumbled upon the Moshulu. The Moshulu was built in 1904, I believe, and it's as much as a floating museum as it is a restaurant. We had the swordfish surf and turf, the gnocchi, the Korean beef dumplings, and a shrimp cocktail appetizer. All were very good. Walking around the ship was the highlight of our day. I think this place is under rated.

A friend and I came here for lunch during the week and had a lovely, unhurried time sitting up on the top deck. The whole place feels more set up for dinner than lunch; I can imagine it would be a lovely place to have a romantic dinner. Our food was quite good and the portions were more than generous. The service was a little off, not bad but just a little disjointed. Definitely a nice spot with good breeze in the summer.

This was my first time eating at Moshulu’s and certainly not my last. My family and I enjoy every minute of our dinning experience from the beginning to end. Our waiter Jared was wonderful, fantastic and super attentive as well as the Chef. Every morsel of food we ate from appetizers to our meals including the bottomless mimosa’s were simply “the best I’ve had in a long time. We had Oysters on the half shell, Turkey Sausage bake, the absolutely best Ceviche I’ve ever eaten. The meals we had were Crab Cakes Eggs Benedict, Belgian Waffles with Mixed Berries and Blackened Shrimp and Grits and who can forget complimentary crumb cake it was delicious as well.

First of all, this was a real ship that traveled the world throughout the early half of the 20th century. This makes it one of the most unique restaurants I’ve ever been to. Secondly, the food and service were both outstanding! Juan was our server and he went above and beyond. Great recommendations on food/wine and he was also exceptionally attentive. Try the Branzino if you like fish. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Indoor looks to be a bit more comfortable and fancy but when you sit outdoors you’re treated to a great view of the Delaware River. Check the weather ahead of time to make sure it’s not too cold. I would also recommend making a reservation.

I had some trepidation booking a 40 person dinner event on the Moshulu. I was worried that food wouldn't be that good and ship might be dated. We were happily surprised. The food was very good, service...Outstanding and the ambiance very nice, particularly for our international guests. Great job to the staff at the Moshulu. We will be back!

I was in town on business and saw great reviews about Moshulu. I was staying in a hotel up the street and the ambiance was great in the waterfront area, so I decided to give Moshulu a try and sat at the Deck Bar (upstairs). I ordered Caesar salad and the swordfish. Both came out at the same time. The swordfish was very undercooked. I sent it back and they recooked the same piece and it came out tough. Meanwhile the green beans and cous cous were now cold. Service was not great and the food was terrible.

While on a night time City Light cruise on the Delaware River, ever so slowly, the lights on the shrouds came into view bringing into focus this magnificent sailing ship of another era. Now secured, docked and re-purposed to elegant dining and tourist purposes it retains all it's original character and spirit. A visit the next day for a meal and walk around this vintage sailing vessel took my imagination and vision back to that age of the tall ships!

First, let me start by saying Gary, our waiter, was the best! He was professional, yet funny, and super attentive. He suggested various foods since it was our first time there. Appetizer was the best calamari ever, main course, crab cake and the salmon was amazing! Dessert, sundae for 2, out of this world! Gary even added a funny joke at the end and gave us complimentary Prosecco and guided us up to the top of the ship for a beautiful picturesque scene to share some romantic photos! If you haven’t visited the Moshulu, it’s a must and please ask for Gary to serve you!! We will definitely be back!

Our dinner was awesome! I had the Lobster bisque and jumbo crab cakes and my husband had shrimp cocktail and the sword fish. Everything was really good, fresh and tasty. Would definitely go again. The waiter was very nice and personable.

I wish I could leave a review of the food, but we were never seated. When we arrived we were told it would be a 25-30 minute wait and the hostess took our cell phone number so we could go outside and mill around. Instead, we sat inside and waited. And waited. And waited. By 50 minutes we were rather ticked. We were the only people in the spacious waiting area and there were dozens of empty tables around. Apparently, Moshulu’s likes to save a buck by short staffing on Sunday. We left without telling the hostess and went somewhere else to eat dinner. Never did get a text from them saying a table was ready. Pretty sure they had no intention of ever seating us. Also, the hostess, the manager, someone employed there should have had a word with a party of about six that were waiting to be seated (which they were in 5 minutes time). The group was VERY loudly joking about an X-rated topic and using crude language. Personally, it didn’t make me uncomfortable, but if you have young children and don’t want to explain uncomfortable topics to them, then avoid Moshulu. The staff have no interest in making the place welcoming for families with youngsters.

I’ve never actually had a formal sit down meal inside Moshulu but in the summertime I always love the bar on deck. The atmosphere is amazing, the custom drinks are good but expensive. It’s the place to be in the summer.

I had always wanted to go here. My daughter graduated from Drexel this year and thought this would be the perfect place for a small graduation party. And was I right! It was perfect from start to finish! We had 21 people at the party and were seated in the middle of the boat at this big beautiful table underneath the skylights and a huge wooden fish. It was very cool! They allowed me to bring flowers for centerpieces. Our main server was John. A lot of us got the bottomless drinks which consisted of mimosas, Bloody Mary, Bellini etc.. I feel like they lost money on that deal! Lol! The food was outstanding! I got the shrimp and grits. The shrimp were cooked perfectly. My boyfriend got the omelette with meat and cheese. It was outstanding. We also got the French toast with bananas fosters. Oh. My. God! It was THE best! Seriously I would get this for dessert!! Everyone raved about their food. I was impressed that all the food came out at the same time. The restaurant was very busy so hats off to the kitchen staff for it organization and hard work! Thank you! I had a chance to walk around the boat. The outdoor bar on the top deck was extraordinarily! It was so cool up there with a view of the city and the river. I want to come back and have some drinks up there! Thank you so very much for such a beautiful, memorable and delicious party! My guests are still raving about it 3 weeks later! Also thank you to all the servers that helped our party go smoothly. It takes a village and everyone certainly stepped up. Did I gush enough about the moshulu??!! Oh we had desserts too!! Of course, DELICIOUS!

Beautiful Ship Restaurant on Philadelphia River Front. Ambience and Decor is very nice Starter Lobster Bisque and cilantro cream salad Four Fish Entrees Seafood stew with rice Branzino, Salmon and Cod all very tasty and filling The Crème Brulle and Sundae Mind Blowing Overall good dinner

It's the best location in Philadelphia, on a massive sail boat right on the harbour with brilliant views. The beer is cheap ($5 for a .5L lager) and the food is delicious, although a bit pricey, I had the edamame hummus($14) and the jumbo shrimp cocktail($19). my mates all had main courses and said they were great. I had been to this bar before around 14 years ago and always meant to go back if in Philadelphia. There is a separate bar area and an upper deck which doesn't have table service but is a nice place to sit when it's sunny(it's always sunny right!) We hadn't booked a table and most were reserved or taken when we arrived but we were seated in less than 20 minutes which was really good considering it was sunday brunch (apparently an extremely busy time). I recommend Moshulu if you are in Philly and I will go again if I'm there in the future.

A few of us went here for my sisters birthday after making a reservation in advance. The entrance and lobby area was nicely decorated for the festive season. We were shown to our table by a pleasant lady. Our table was large and very spacious for all our party. We ordered cocktails but didn't think much of it because not much alcohol. We all enjoyed the main course, I had the sea bass and ready ate all. Overall the experience was good but i wouldn't rush to go back

The ambiance of eating on the deck of a ship like this might still be worth it, but you might want to just stick to cocktails. I couldn't believe how bad the food was. It tasted like a microwave dinner.

Diese Location ist absolut aussergewöhnlich. Abends ein gutes Essen, dann auf Deck , die Skyline bie guter Musik geniessen. Es ist einfach nur wunderbar. Für uns war es der schönste Abend während unseres Urlaubs. This location is absolutely exceptional. In the evening have a good meal, then go out on deck and enjoy the skyline with good music. It's just wonderful. For us it was the most beautiful evening of our vacation.

Food, atmosphere, service: all are 10/10. The restaurant is top notch and the views are beautiful. Everything is essentially wonderful. However, with that said: be prepared to pay--there's only two entrees that are less than $30--both of which are burgers. So, be prepared for a wonderful night, but the price point is rather high on many of the items--like the $59 sea bass.

The Moshulu is a square rigged ship, said to be the world's oldest surviving four-masted sailing ship. For anyone interested in the sea, it's an amazing sight. It's still earning its keep -- as a bar and restaurant. It's part of the Penn's Landing complex, on the Delaware River where it is moored.

Spent part of our 7th wedding anniversary here. The service is ok. We received a lovely note which was a nice touch and complimentary champagne that was classy. The good service itself was a bit disjointed and felt lengthy. Our waiter looked harried and it affected the timeliness of the food. We had a porthole seat. We ordered tuna crab sushi, crab cakes, and Thai steak noodles...or so I thought. I expected a pad thai style dish with more peanut sauce. It was mostly greens and fillers and a cold dish. It just wasn't what I was expecting. I was too hungry to make much fuss but I didn't finish it then. The next day I added soy sauce since the peanut sauce was non existent. Husband loved his crabcake. The food was plated beautifully though. We had our customary creme brulee, but it was quite odd. The sugar was barely bruleed and overly crunchy. The size of the sugar was like panko crumbs, very bizarre. It still tasted ok, but the large sugar bits took some chewing to break down which isn't how the dish is supposed to be like. I had a virgin mojito drink but it was just sour instead of being a balance of sour and sweet. It's a lovely place, but it just didn't wow. My dish just felt out of place on the menu and in presentation. Maybe I didn't pay close enough attention to the ingredients but it shouldn't have been a salad style dish. I've heard great things about this place and glad we got the experience, but I wouldn't rush to go back. We're pretty familiar with the Philly food scene and there are just better places.

Had an event on the upper deck and bow and it was fantastic! The service was great, the food was great, and the view and atmosphere amazing! Kids and adult both loved the location! Love the Moshulu!

Really good food, great service. Due to the nature of the structure the sound travels easily so it can get a little too noisy, but if you can ignore that, you won't regret it. Excellent service from servers.

We went for dinner for my husbands birthday. I made a reservation ahead of time so there was no wait. The atmosphere is amazing. You get to eat dinner on a tall ship, your on the Delaware river great views. The food was amazing pricey but to be expected. We had a wonderful evening. The crab cake was amazing. It is in penns Landing philly and a very nice area.

I come to Philadelphia every year and Moshulu is normally my goto spot. I tell ppl about this restaurant all the time . So this Friday I went to the restaurant and the hostess basically refused to serve us because I didn’t have a reservation (I normally make one but I didn’t know what time my fiancée was going to be done with work) I understand It was reservation week however the restaurant wasn’t even busy , also when I went to the website there were tables available. Which is strange to me I normally spend close to 300.00 everytime I dine here which I never mind because I normally have an amazing experience. I’m not a Confrontational person so I just left n went to another restaurant near by. But I was very disappointed and embarrassed I had been talking about taking my fiancé there all week since this was their first experience in Philadelphia I wanted to give them the best experience ever, Moshulu since lost a loyal customer n I will now tell others about it as well. I’m starting to believe I was refused service because I’m Africa American to me there was no other reason it wasn’t busy and they had tables open on the site. I’ll will take this further.

At Penn's Landing (Philadelphia's Waterfront), there are no premeire restaurants anymore-- including The Moshulu. I mean, The Mosh is okay-- sort of, kinda-- but it's really just a mediocre eatery. My partner and I ordered 1 soup, 1 salad, 2 entrees, 2 drinks & bevs. With tip, the bill was $194. I think the prices are a little high for the value, but what truly bugged me?: There was no "WOW" factor! None. Nothing about my dining experience that night made me look forward to going back again. (Even the entertainment duo was as bland as the lobster bisque.) The Moshulu does offer the best scenic river views while dining. But hey, you can get the same pics standing dockside next to the trailer food vendors! Twenty years ago, The Moshulu was a premier restaurant along Penn's Landing. But IMO, it's recently lost its luster-- like La Veranda and Chart House (both closed now). So, maybe with the absence of quality competition, The Mosh just doesn't try as much anymore-- or at all. It just exists on the pier. And without that prime location, The Moshulu is now just another Bubba Gump chain store-- for $194.

Had a birthday dinner and can't say enough about the service and food! After reading some of the negative reviews I wasn't expecting it to be as good, assuming it to be a tourist trap, but I was wrong. Our waitress was great and the service was wonderful. All of our five entrees were delicious, as well as the desserts. Yes, it's pricey but the experience of dining on the ship and the views were worth it.

We made a contract for a Thanksgiving party of 27 people in September, and 4-6 weeks later they called to cancel having assured me that they would remain open. We reviewed the price, menu, I sent them a deposit ... it was a done deal. And then they called to cancel, leaving our whole party high and dry on T-giving. They further assured me that they would search for an alternative. They did nothing and stopped responding to my emails. I will never, ever count on them again. They're untrustworthy.

We dined here one evening and had a great night. Our waiter Gary was attentive without being too exuberant. His recommendations for dishes was spot on. Our group of five all enjoyed their meals and desserts. It was lovely sitting out on the ships deck enjoying the evening, the food and the company.

We had brunch here today. I ordered the Salmon and grits and my husband had the Seafood Louie salad. We also ordered Lobster Bisque. My salmon and grits had a little kick to it and was very good. My husbands salad was also very good. The soup had a great flavor.

We went to celebrate our Anniversary, I thought it would be a nice and romantic place, services was good but it was loud and noisy. The place is good for social, company event or party. The food was good, but for the price they charge, it could be a little bit more. The chair is uncomfortable to seat and they look cheap not match to the restaurant style. Over all, I will not return again. Once experienced was enough.

We went here for our anniversary and were really excited to go somewhere a little nicer. We got dressed up and got over there and the inside of the ship was really nice. I thought that would have translated outside but it was more casual as we were seated towards the bar which was much more casual. I would have thought we would have not been put by the bar given the reason we were there. Food was good and we got a couple glasses of wine on the house in celebration which was nice.

My family and I had brunch here. We were seated outside on the deck. There was a musician playing music on a steel drum. That day there was a nice breeze blowing and the ambiance made us feel like we were on a cruise. Our meal was excellent. We enjoyed the lobster bisque, caesar salad, lobster omelette, stuffed french toast (decadent choice!), and shellfish sandwich. The drinks were good too - Tiki Twist, Viva La Memo and Wildflower Fields. The managers came over to check on us several times. We were able to go to a different section of the deck and take pictures. It's a cool place to dine especially if you like being by the water.

Visiting family in the Philly area. They took us to the Spruce Street Harbor Park where the Moshulu is located. It was relaxing to walk aboard a ship, go to the upper deck, enjoy the scenery and sip on a cold beverage. Check it out!!!

Loved the swordfish & the view across the river. Crab cakes could use a sauce. Choice of Wines by the glass were good. Missed music on the deck which wasn’t open the night we were there.

A stunning place to have an elegant dinner. Great tables in a super suroundings. Waiter was great too. Very attentive and knowledgeable. Unfortunately the food was not as good as the rest of the experience. We all had different food and we all rated it low. Expensive for a disappointment. The head waitress or table designator was in jeans very poorare not what you would expect.

We attended dinner on the Moshulu this weekend. The boat/restaurant was beautiful. The food was delicious and the wait staff was so friendly and efficient. An absolute must if your in Penns Landing!

Unique dining experience, very authentic. Very good food , very good staff, very classy. Ship is way cool. Great setting. Would highly recommend.

So fun to have dinner on a 4-masted Tall Ship! The service was excellent, the food delicious, and the restoration & renovation of the historic ship into a restaurant was absolutely gorgeous. I had the crab cake which was full of meat, one huge crab cake 2 inches tall on perfectly prepared vegetables. I started with raw oysters, also well presented. My dinner companion was eating vegetarian--not a lot of options for her though. She had the Bibb lettuce salad with a side of truffle fries and found both extremely tasty and generous in size. This is definitely an occasion restaurant with the prices to match, but worth what you pay given the unique location and quality of the food.

Being on the ship was nice. The service was not good and when the salads came they were drenched in water and the lettuce was old We all looked at each other and said let’s split now before we end up regretting this.

This was great find on the waterfront at Penn’s Landing. Started off with Happy Hour made reservations and returned shortly on the deck outdoors by the wheel. Our first night in Philly, what a view...! There was plenty of seating and the staff were great... We had a few apps and had the veal for our main course. Later there was a live band and dancing on the back deck. It could be any better for our first night at Penn’s Landing.

So this place is a beautiful old sailing ship that is renovated into a fine dining restaurant and bar on the deck. It is great food, service , and ambience. A bit pricy but it is nice to go once in awhile.

Perfect setting and ambiance. Love this place. Great brunch and dinner menus. Food is delicious, drinks are good, service is phenomenal.

If you are in Philly down in Harbor Park try ou Moshulu. It a original clipper ship that is converted to a restaurant. It a great place for food and atmosphere.

Had crab dip app and crab cakes and swordfish for dinner. Ambiance was great with low lighting, nice atmosphere and decor. The walk along penns landing was fun too.

Fantastic views while enjoying great food aboard this beautiful ship! I really enjoyed our meal here.

We recently had a private tour of the Cruiser Olympia and Submarine Becuna at the Independence Seaport Museum. After the tour, six of us, including our guide, had lunch on the Moshulu, the huge four-masted steel barque windjammer permanently berthed at the Philly waterfront and now a restaurant. I expected our meal to be more of a novelty... sitting on the deck of this old monster sailboat. It turned out to be a fine dining experience. Among the group orders were a large Tomato Salad, a couple of Portabella Burgers, Buffalo Salmon, French Dip, and a Lunch Steak Frite. Everyone agreed that the food was excellent, the service and setting delightful, and the cost reasonable. It is a fun spot to grab a good meal!

The boat has a history- its been used and abused and then rescued and re-created in its older persona. I thought the food might suffer since they could easily have just concentrated on the atmosphere- but the food was excellent. I had one of the best crab cakes I have ever have. Everyone else seemed to like their food a lot as well.

We recently went to Moshulu for a birthday dinner. It’s an old ship with dining rooms and a deck bar. It’s beautiful, and it had a nice breeze on a hot summer night. There was a wedding that evening, which seemed like a perfect venue. It’s s pretty pricy, and for that, I would have expected the food to be of a little higher quality. Even our cocktails didn’t wow us. It’s good, but not great. go for the experience, not an amazing meal.

Had dinner there. Sitting is actually below the main deck with some views of the river. Our seafood was very good and plentiful. Try the desserts. Very nice staff really comfortable atmosphere. Give it a try.

Very disappointed. Family of 10 for Thanksgiving. Let's start from the begining. Arrived only to find that there is a $17 parking fee. Ok. It is what it is. Would have preferred a discount for patronoizing the restaurant. Once inside it was beautifilly appointed. Small lounge area while waiting to be seated. Large bar. On the aft and forward side there are two large dinning areas with a bar. Beautiful. So the atmosphere is classic. Now the problems. 1 The wait staff was not attentive. Ordered cocktails. Two tables that came in after us were served. 20 minutes later we inquired. We were told that of the three bars, the farthest had the beer that was requested. 2-The standard bread offering was delivered without bread plates. When asked, it was brought and the server asked whether eveyone wanted a plate. 3- Two meals were not acceptable. The turkey dinner and short ribs. The turkey was out of a sealed package. The short ribs difficult to chew. This restaurat seems to cater to the tourist trade. I will not return and will not reccomend to others.

The waiter had too much attitude and found an insect in my drink. Overrated for no reason .food wasnt that great either.

The venue is unique and delightful. The service was wonderful. The food was good, bordering on great, but not over-the-top to-die-for. I had the Alaskan halibut; my companion had the crab cake. The crab cake was fantastic. The halibut was a bit on the mushy side, but still good. The garnishes were very good. I'd definitely go again for a special dinner.

The Moshulu offers perfect views and great ambiance - especially if you're seated on the deck. The food is delicious, the service is friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. The Seafood Louie Salad is one of my favorites!

This is a great place to go for dinner happy hour drinks or a private event. I’ve been here several times and loved it every time. Recently I brought family from out of town who is looking for some great views and wonderful food. We had a great time on the top deck perfect for summer weather. They always have the fresh and cocktails and great fresh food.

Attended a business reception and dinner on a very pleasant summer evening and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our group had the run of a part of the restaurant and appreciated the waterfront views. Our dinner was a buffet and food was quite flavorful. Definitely a fun experience.

This is a Philadelphia tradition on the waterfront- permanently docked- wonderful ambiance and great cocktails- perfect for special occasions or just walking by.

We chose to eat inside because it was humid. Outdoors looked wonderful too but the quiet inside was perfect. The server, Gary, was spot on. Friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. I had a very nice watermellon based martini and seafood salad sandwich with truffle fries. My husband had tastey flounder. Will return (for specisl occasion).

I used to really love this place and I have eaten dinner here and visited the deck for cocktails. No more. I went last Wednesday for a special occasion with my fiance. Start off by visiting the forward deck bar which smelled like vomit and they could not mix the drinks I wanted off the menu. The told me to go to the top level bar. The waitress there could have cared less about us and was less than friendly. The bar tender mixed the drink I wanted but it was lousy. My fiance ordered a lemoncella martini and they made her a lemon drop... it was not what she wanted and tasted awful. She returned it for a glass of wine. The deck apparently only used plastic dixie cups with a very miserly pour, and no garnish on the glass. Its really spartan. For the money you are going to pay out for a mixed drink - it should look and taste like something. The Moshulu bar is a mess. I would not consider it again for drinks. I can see tht its nothing more than an overpriced tourist trap and would not come back to the deck bar. Too many other places nearby to consider. If I do go back for the dinner, I hope that I am not disappointed. There steaks used to be top notch. Not sure if I want to try it though since you can't start off with decent cocktails.

Enjoyed a great meal at a work event. Unfortunately, they ran out of one of the "specialty menu" items, which was disappointing since the event had been planned well in advance. Friendly and nice employees. The appetizers during happy hour were outstanding.

Marcelinho provides amazing service. Food is exceptional , ambiance is phenomenal overlooking the water. Definitely recommend this restaurant for 5 star experience.

Everything was great!! Only downfall was I basically had to ask for a waiter when no one came up to our table for 10+ minutes. But the food, the atmosphere, it’s all great.

Great restaurant on a cargo ship built in 1904. It has been restored to a very nice restaurant with a bar in the ship as well as a more casual bar on the upper deck. Reasonably priced and the meals.were.very well prepared. Unknowly timed our dinner to be done right before the fireworks over the river. A perfect night.

I took a group of 12 colleagues to the Moshulu for dinner last night, and it was exceptional. Even though I grew up in the area, I had never eaten there because I always thought it was a tourist destination. With colleagues from overseas joining us, I thought it would be a nice atmosphere for dinner, but the food was beyond expectations. Many of the people I was with had the scallops, which they raved about. I tried the dry aged NY strip steak, and it truly could be one of the best steaks I have ever had, far surpassing steak houses I have eaten in all around the country. From appetizers to desserts (the crème brulee was exceptional), everyone's meal was excellent.

We just walked up to the maitre de to get a table of five. She checked her system and told us there were no tables until tomorrow. So my friend heard someone say why did the maitre de say that bc we just walked up and got a table. So we were hungry and didn’t want anything else. So my friend looked on open table and there were tables available for the amount of ppl. We got on the ship and got a table on the top deck. What a beautiful view and the breeze was amazing. We got our food which was good but beware it is expensive. This was the most expensive place we ate in Philly. Would go back for date night with a significant other

We passed by the ship and then realized it was a restaurant. We thought that might be a really neat experience so we went in to get a table and said that they were already booked up at 4 p.m. and there will be about a 30 minute wait. We decided it was worth the wait and it was. The service was just okay. We were definitely disappointed we couldn't get a table up on the top deck outside but we did get a very nice view of the River from our table. Our daughter got the caesar salad with chicken, our son got the prime cheeseburger, I got the filet, and my husband got the strip. The food was very good.

My husband and I took my adult daughter and her boyfriend to dinner out to celebrate her birthday. The ambiance of the old ship is so special. We enjoyed walking upstairs and viewing the historic photographs and going on the deck to see the masts - lit up colorfully. The sloped deck made it especially interesting to sit at the indoor table. They gave her a free slip of champagne and a free dessert plate for her birthday! The meals were all very, very delicious.

I come back here once or twice a year, and it's always top service and food! The manager, Michelle, has always been more than accommodating for what tends to be our larger groups. We even had a chance to sit in the Captain's Room, which was a great experience. Come have a great brunch on this 100+ year old ship.

Outstanding food at both meals, very good service, and great views. We were there for the 4th of July, and the location could not have been better. Jesse, a manager, (?) was gracious, made us feel welcome, and made sure we had a cab back to the hotel.

I will try to go in order. 17.00 to park in their lot. Ship is majestic looking as you approach. Great photo opportunity. When you enter it is s big dark and smells musty as you enter dining area brighter snd the mustiness subsides. Not much of a view even on the river side. View of parking lot on other side. Waiter Marcelin was fantastic and a great ambassador for restaurant. Food was well prepared and presentation was good. Ala carte brunch. A bit pricey but not crazy. Restaurant was clean and kept up well for a 150 year old ship. Glad I went but would not make it s regular thing.

Ambiance is amazing! But we were not sure what to expect about the food. Wow! We literally licked the plates. Great job Chef! And our waiter Rob, excellent! My birthday dinner was wonderful!👊🏻👏🏻🍷

This was a first trip to the Moshulu for 2 of us, the other 2 people had been there previously and loved it. It was a great experience from the time we walked aboard. Joey, our server was very friendly, knowlegable and didn't steer us wrong with any of his suggestions. Loved the food (both taste and presentation) and the fact that they didn't try to rush us with our meal, there was time to chat between courses. We'll definitely be going back!

Great locale. Top deck bar is terrific. Even on a hot day, a nice breeze. Main dining salon is nice, well done and and well served. Good food, made better by the surroundings

Nice experience walking onto a docked tall ship with a group for dinner. Casual atmosphere. Buffet style dining. Walk up bar area, limited wine choices. Low ceiling but I expected that. Good choices of entrees and sides with a carving station(very good). Wait staff were very good(helpful and friendly). Enough dining room for a large group.

Had the caesar salad with salmon. Really delicious. Everyone else loved their entrees. Had a great view of the water. Service was a little slow but ok.

Excellent, sitting on the water in an extremely well furnished and decorated ship. Started with the Crab/Spinach/cheese dip... wow fantastic, then the hot New England Clam Chowder with the ultimate tender clams, bacon chips etc., incredible, Prawn Cocktail also excellent and the Shrimp/Crab Louie, just perfect and so fresh. If you want great service, excellent food and an incredible setting, you must make this a special place to come to. If we lived here I'd do it at least once a week. Enjoy!!!!

Beautiful unique venue onboard the ship. Very attentive staff and excellent food. We liked it so much that we skipped the horrible city traffic and dined there twice. Had lobster bisque, mussels, crab cake, lamb, salmon and dorade meals. Note. Upstairs deck is cool but music is very loud. $20 to park.

Such a unique and tasty experience for brunch on a Sunday. Visiting Philadelphia and met family here for brunch. The service was great. The food tasty. The atmosphere was special! Our party had - crab spinach dip (amazing) - roasted vegetable grilled cheese (yum) - crab cake - one of the best I have had in a while - bagel and smoked salmon - solid! Fun place to celebrate a birthday with family and friends!

Daughters took Mom & I here for Mother’s Day brunch. This is the 3rd time in last 4 years we did this. Lovely venue and food was good, but..... Expensive, $70pp. Used to give moms a free mamosa. Not anymore. In fact the price does not even include non-alcoholic drinks like ice tea or orange juice. These were overpriced at $5-6 each. With 7 people it added up quick. The final kick was the 20% gratuity they add. This was a self-serve buffet. If everything went great 15% would be generous. 10-12% for average service. The overall experience was not worth the price. Will look for another “special” place for those special days.

I felt like a princess the moment we walked on the ship. The staff took care of every need waiting on us consistently, from the bar to the dinner. Every morsel was delicious. The atmosphere was so grand and elegant. My family was delighted in every aspect of our dinner.

Visited philly for my 21st birthday thinking some nights at the bars and a nice dinner on the last day would be awesome, well boy was I wrong…you’d think that a big nice boat would be a fancy dinner right? No, first off we showed up a little early no big deal we’re waiting in the lounging section and my girlfriend wanted a drink and only sat there for 15 minutes trying to get the bartenders attention not to mention the bar isn’t even that big and there’s was only four other people there so by the time she had decided to walk away our table was ready anyways. Once we sit down the table was on a slant and all the condensation was dripping on us as well as the spiders that were literally falling from the sky, there was so many spider webs and at least two spiders fell on each of us, it wasn’t appetizing looking at the ship to admire it and just see nothing but giant spider after giant spider, we ordered two cokes and they were flat so we asked the waiter(who was horrible by the way) if he can get us two new cokes and he never brought them then when we asked to take them off the check he completely disregarded it and told us that they were from cans anyway so they couldn’t be flat and any restaurant I’ve been to where they give you cans they give you the can and the glass not do it for you bc he still didn’t take them off thinking we wouldn’t notice the price hasn’t changed, because he didn’t take the cokes off we told him to do it again and he then continued to use two of our credit cards to void the items and repay, instead he continued to charge both cards multiple times and deducted at least $300 from both cards after saying the remaining balance was only gonna charge $160 and for a dinner that was only $300 dollars we’ve tried calling the restaurant again as we were only visiting for a couple days and they continued to not give us help and lie to our faces about why no one could help us and we still are trying to get our money back from this place that robbed us. our waiter tried to say we can leave before even fixing the money problem and that alone is really was ticked us all off, there was seven of us and we asked to split the check but he said they only split it evenly like we would’ve just put all our cards then and said the split it, when I asked for a separate check it’s because I want to pay for what I just got. Also not that it matters but the waiter did ask if we were celebrating anything and it was my birthday and I didn’t get anything no dessert not even a song which I normally don’t care about but one table next to us got this beautiful voiced man to serenade her happy birthday and it just would’ve been nice to feel like I was actually at a birthday dinner, honestly I’m probably missing more points as to why this restaurant is no good but so many bad things happened to us that I can’t even phathom.

Let me preface this review by saying that we have previously gone to the Moshulu for Mom’s Day and had an amazing time but they have since changed their format and left little to be desired. This year’s full buffet style was not impressive as it felt like more of a cattle call instead of a lovely brunch atmosphere. Their “unlimited mimosa” option was replaced in favor of a more pricier a la carte option. We unfortunately will not be back to the Moshulu for any holiday brunches.

Been wanting to come here for decades finally came yesterday for 50th Everything thought it, would nniversary! be and more. We absolutely loved it! Atmosphere was S unique! We felt the spirit of such an old ship..A grand lady with her masts sO high! We had a table for two centered on a round window looking out at the Delaware River with boats passing by. Went for brunch. Unique menu and delicious rose prosecco! Our server was Olivi...T Thank you! Talked to r manager Juan who ok'd a free dessert which was a nice surprise! Thank you! We are 1.5 hours away further south and can't, wait xO t visit again and bring our adult children and five year old! Go!

Absolutely an awesome experience. The views both day and night are spectacular and romantic. The service is top notch, and food is phenomenal.

This boat is bigger than I thought and offers multiple experiences based upon which section of the boat you are on. If you want a night club atmosphere go to the stern of the boat. If you want a comfortable outside bar go above the stern. If you want a quiet, more elegant dinner the restaurant on the first level with serve you best. We ate in the restaurant where the food was very good, not loud at all, and the staff are all friendly and attentive.

Great 4 course meal & fireworks. The staff was wonderful. Very romantic evening and would recommend for a different date night experience.

This was my 1st trip to the moshulu & it was everything I expected, extremely clean, excellent service, excellent location. My only issue would be that the portions served do not equal the prices charged, although the flavor does equal the cost! The coffee could not be better! Overall worth the visit.

Let's start with the obvious: you're having a dinner on a boat, which is cool all by itself. The interior is very tastefully done with old style charm and a touch of the modern. For the food we had a mixed experience. My meal (swordfish surf & turf) I found to be excellent all around. The fish was especially well done. My partner wasn't as thrilled with the brussel sprouts or her tuna tartar. To round things out, the service was excellent. I would go back, maybe in the summer to check out the upper deck.

Excellent dining experience! Beautiful atmosphere, delicious food and perfect service! This is our first trip to Philly and we are foodies. Highly recommend this restaurant!

When your colleagues fly in from Sweden for their first visit to Philadelphia you want something special and memorable THINK MOSHULU American cuisine in a truly memorable setting overlooking Penn’s Landing and the Delaware riverfront. Open on a Monday night too! Great parking in front of the ship, yes the Moshulu is a permanently docked clipper ship with great history, beautifully restored, white linen service with relaxed ambiance but attentive and personable staff eager to help you have a perfect meal or celebratory special occasion Drinks on the upper deck a must to enjoy nature sun and riverfront views. Afterwords saunter to the mail gallery for window views or luxurious banquette seating for 6 or more. Lovely historic menu with ample starters and Mains. They even have a special Vegan/Vegetarian menu. Thank You! We had spicy shrimp, spicy ahi tuna and grilled octopus, all promptly served, generous portions for sharing and great start to leisurely evening of conversation and some business discussions. Great selection of local beers and assorted wines in many price ranges. For mains there was impeccably prepared lamb, a prime rib French dip sandwich truffle fries, amazing lobster bisque with fresh baked bread, and spicy tofu and veggies. Desert offering were lovely ending creame brûlée, cheese cake and rich vanilla ice cream. Prices were appropriate for the quality and portions. Reasonable, not ridiculous! Hospitality, great food, incredible unique atmosphere, made for a great introductory experience for my guests.

Had dinner there and it was one of the best meals ever. (Salmon was my choice, but heard raves about short ribs and chicken entrees, too, from companions.) Great service. Warm greeting. Informal, on-your-own tour of the ship. Michelle, the manager, gave us the background of Moshulu. Wonderful experience. Convenient parking.

I was recently there celebrating a friends birthday. The wait staff were very attentive. It was about ten of us. The food was delicious. The cocktails were a little disappointing however. But overall we had a great time.

Ok, my wife and I tried this on a whim and were not disappointed. The restaurant is on a converted tall masted ship. The interior is upscale and the food is great. We went on the July 1 during Philadelphia’s Independence Day festivities. After dinner we ventured to the weather deck where exterior dining and drinks are served to catch a pre-4th fireworks display. This was a great evening.

This was a very short walk from theHilton Penn’s landing where we were staying. We had a large pist wedding group and all sat on the mid-ship deck under the cover in very comfortable weather. The brunch was buffet style and had a nice variety of eggs, sausage, bacon, fruit, french toast, braised beef, broiled vegetables and pastries. I attached a few pictures of the outside of the ship and of the deck where we congregated.

Great D.J. Party almost every week! The music covers all eras. The views from the Ship are spectacular.

The experience of dining inside such an amazing ship with our son was amazing. The ship is big and you can wonder around whenever you want. There are several areas to eat, at the bar, dining room, and terraces. Food is OK, as I expected. Having read the reviews I knew what to expect and think I was spot on. Service really good, super attentive.

My husband and I came in for a bite to eat. Loved my Sea Scallops, they were Delicious! My husband had a Crab Cake which he raved about. Loved the atmosphere, pleasant looking out on the water, service was very good, and desert was on point, would defiantly come back!

We loved this place, great venue great food and drinks and attentive staff. If you want something that's a bit different this is the place for you.

Our Dinner on our evening in Philadelphia was at Moshulu, which is a fashionable restaurant on the oldest and largest square-rigged ship still in use. It is docked in the Delaware River alongside S. Columbus Blvd in the Penn's Landing part of Philadelphia. There is an interesting history of the ship on their website. The ship was built in 1904 and was used for transporting various different things over the years. It has also appeared in movies, such as “Rocky” and “Godfather Part II”. The ship was first opened as a restaurant in 1975, and has been in its present location since 2002. We had a nice dinner there. The service was a little chaotic because of the size of our group, but the staff were all very flexible and cooperative to get the job done in a friendly and professional manner. Our group was given a choice of 3 different dinners, all of which were served elegantly and very good. We had a mini trio for dessert. We had a very enjoyable time in this unique venue. I cannot judge the cost because it was included in the cost of our US History group tour.

Made a reservation for 10 people to celebrate my wife's birthday. We had a 6 pm reservation but got there a little early and they sat us without waiting. Had a nice table in the middle. Our waiter was very attentive and engaging! As you can see from the pics, we ordered almost everything on the menu from apps, drinks, and entrees. Everyone was happy with their meals.

The restaurant has a really special ambiance and is a very good place to go on a date or with loved ones. if you sit near a window, you can see the beautiful river and the other boats floating. The prices are in the middle range and you get a very tasty meal and a nice service. I recommend everyone to take the scallops and the chocolate cake for dessert ;) Enjoy!

We dined at the Moshulu the last time we were in PA on the 4th of July and really enjoyed it. This time it was extra special ! I was celebrating my 76 th birthday and my wife is a pancreatic cancer survivor for over three years!! Much to celebrate and it was a wonderful experience! The ship is a historical sailing ship built in 1904 .. the offerings were amazing and the quality of the food was excellent. Add in the excellent service from the staff who greeted us to our waiter , Gary, who had the ability to make everyone feel at home. He was friendly without being obtrusive. Gary knew the food offerings and described them deliciously! Truth is you need food, ambience & great service to really have a great experience ! Bravo Mashulu!!!

The restaurant is in an historic 359-foot sailing ship that was build in1909 for a German company. Whether you have a table by the window or not there are nice views of the Delaware River and the ship's interior is a different than your typical restaurant. The good: service was very good, food was very good. A manager checked in to see how we were doing. We split the crab toast appetizer, and we each had a 9 oz. glass of house wine - no dessert. Bill with tax and tip was $150. The bad: Parking is $17, so you need to add that to the cost, as it's a long walk across busy Columbus Boulevard to any on-street parking. It's not convenient to the trains from NJ or the suburbs or the Market-Frankford El. The beer list is limited and it's all in cans. No drafts or bottles. I'm not a coffee drinker and the only tea they have is herbal. Our server told us about some specials but never mentioned a cheese board. We heard another server telling a table about that special as we left. My wife has difficulty walking (she has handicapped plates) but the restrooms are up a flight of stairs so she had to wait.

It is interesting to eat on a docked boat. At times looking out the porthole at the waves going by I felt as if we were moving. The food was excellent. I enjoyed my lobster bisque and Moshulu burger. The mimosa and kir royale were good, although I prefer a bit more cassis in my kir. Having to pay $17 for parking was ridiculous. It would be nice to have some parking validation covered by the restaurant.

My husband and I went for dinner tonight and our server Bree was absoultey excellent I ordered a watermelon Martini but expressed I have a seed allergy she went up over and beyond to make sure my drink had no seeds, she was smiling the enitire visit and between the beautiful view delicious food and a first class waitress we had a amazing night !

We were celebrating a belated birthday. So the experience had to be special. Moshulu delivered. Sunday brunch is bottomless..and if you drink - that alone could make your experience...but I don’t...and I was looking for more.. I found it in a not so sweet concoction of lemon tea and fresh mint...refreshing. The salmon and grits was superb! The waiter has a long name... he repeated it but other than the M at the beginning I can’t cite it here...but his personal services (during the busy bottomless brunch) were excellent. The only challenge is there are no restrooms on the main dining floor... if you move slow as I do you need to get a head start to the staff for the elevator...or be prepared to walk quickly up a set of stairs.

The ship interior is certainly beautiful but it felt as though that was relied on too much. The service was sporadic. Three times our table had to request or remind servers that we were waiting for or were without items.the servers were sweet but I think lacked training. The food; I have to admit to being stunned to hear it was a 4 diamond restaurant! The food no way reflected that. It was, in truth, incredibly average and very overpriced. My starter was quite literally a bowl of cos leaves! My main was made for me as I am vegan. It was fine. There was no pudding for me and nor was o offered an alternative. It was such fun watching all the other guests enjoying their desserts !!!!

HORRIBLE, WORST experience ever. Me and my family decided to celebrate New Years Eve at Moshulu VIP DINNER ($250 per person), been advised as the best restaurant in the area. Mediocre buffet, with no service at all, drinks during dinner served in a plastic cup (all tables around had glasses), you need to go to the bar and make a huge line to grab a drink because all servers were so busy gossiping and talking among themselves just right next to you. Me and my mom got stocked in the handicap elevator. NEVER AGAIN, they just ruined our celebration.

Eight of us had brunch here on Sunday and it was really nice. Our servers were funny and attentive. Although the place looks like it might be a little too fancy for just a chill brunch, they never made us feel out of place. I had the Oreo pancakes and they were really good. My boyfriend had the chicken and waffles, which he also enjoyed a lot. The other half of our table also did the $17 (I think?) bottomless Mimosa option for brunch. Most of them were wobbly after so it was well worth the price. Make sure you take the time to go outside on the deck (if you were seated inside) because it has a really nice view of the water.

The atmosphere was good, the taste was good and the staff was kind. They even gave me chopsticks, thinking I was Japanese. Assorted. I asked for half of it, I asked for a salad, I drank wine, but that was enough.

We made a reservation for 12 people for my son's graduation dinner that was held on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 6:30 pm. This reservation was made through the special event department. We originally had a table set up outside on the deck, however, the table was very small for 12 people and the 2-person band was very loud and would not have been conducive to conversation, so, we asked to sit inside. We were given an awesome table in the middle of the ship, which was great at first. The manager on staff, Brett, was very attentive and helpful throughout the night. That's when the night went downhill. There were several tables surrounding our table and the noise level was very loud. We could barely hear each other talk and had a hard time hearing John, our waiter. It took a long time (at least 15 minutes) before John even acknowledged us and came over to take our drink and appetizer order. John showed a severe lack of interest and the service was extremely slow for the entire meal. John didn't came back for a second drink order until someone asked and he only got drinks for 2 people. We had to ask him again to come back to the table to get additional drink orders. It took an entire hour before we got the appetizers. It then took another entire hour before we got our meals at 8:30 pm. At this point, I was so upset, I couldn't even eat my meal. I had 6 people with me in their 80's who cannot and do not want to eat that late. Although most of my family tried to stay upbeat throughout this experience, I believe the service was unacceptable. I spoke with the manager that was working with me, I think his name was Brett, and he discounted our bill, which was appreciated. However, the discount does not make me forget the very, very slow and non-attentive service we received. As an overall rating, our experience was not what we expected from such a fine and unique restaurant and we will never dine there again.

Went to Philly for the weekend to visit my daughter and wanted to take her somewhere she probably wouldn't go on her own. Had lunch on board the ship (we sat inside as it was 95 degrees out). The service was very good and the food was very good as well. If your server tells you that you probably don't need a starter if you are ordering the Asian Chicken Salad believe him. It's huge ... and very good.

No idea this was here ! First time visitors and we found happy hour in the bar. There were a couple of functions going on - a wedding up on deck then a retirement bash in the bar. Still plenty of room for a quiet drink looking out over the river. Great views on all sides. The restaurant booths were v comfortable. And the dining room set up at the other end great as well. Just a beautiful location !

Moshulu is truly a singular dining experience. Classy, welcoming, and relaxing. Ask for a table with a view of the water. The dinner was delicious! Presentation, portions, quality, and flavor were incredible. Every time I have been to Moshulu the servers never disappoint! They are professional and personable. The drinks are phenomenal and strong, best pomegranate martini ever!

My husband surprised me with a birthday dinner at Moshulu and it was perfect. We were greeted in a timely matter, our waiter was prompt and gave us some champagne. We both ordered the crab cakes and they were to die for! The atmosphere was perfect and We had a window seat. We were able to take pictures afterward on the top of the boat. Our only issue was that they were hosting an event so we couldn't eat dinner outside and it was perfect weather. Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back.

You don't go there for the food or the drinks. I was really disappointed in the cocktails. Very average with not a lot of choice on mixers and indifferent bartenders (outside bar). No happy hour, and the food is just ok. But it is a beautiful space and worth at least one visit.I've only been once so perhaps I should try again.

Moshulu's not just a pretty dinner spot on the water -- it was literally in The Godfather Part II, and dining on an actual historic ship is cool -- next time, I'm definitely eating on the deck. It's pretty dark inside. The food is decent, nothing mind-blowing, but the views and the vibes carry it. Worth it for the experience.

First time visit for dinner, here on a business trip with a party of 14. Walking up to the restaurant it’s a beautiful view. The inside is like stepping back in time, decor is exquisite, as is the food. Service was impeccable and iur food perfectly prepared. Not one person in our party was dissatisfied. Definitely look forward to comjng back, kudos to all the staff on a Fantastic job!!!

Your paying for the experience, as long as you don’t mind that you won’t be disappointed. Asked a bunch of locals and they all said they’d never been here, so more of a tourist trap maybe. For a Friday night it was not packed, seemed slow, this was maybe a warning sign. Decided to eat outside and I feel the quality in ambiance much less, if you want fancy eat inside, if you want dance party vibes then eat on the deck where they serve you beverages in plastic cups with blaring music. Knowing this difference between seating arrangements would have been good to know before choosing where we wanted to sit, of course no guidance or suggestions from hostess staff, a group of them were busy chatting and we were a second thought I’m sure. No hot beverages served on the deck outside either. Food was average but most certainly over priced. Worst Bloody Mary, ever, husband and I both tried it and 4 sips combined were all we could stomach. Had a pre mixed Bloody Mary from a can last week that was better - that’s saying A Lot! The creme brûlée looked amazing in photos, but was served looking different and tasted awful, as if not made correctly. Service was pretty good; we liked our server. Neat experience but not worth the money overall. It was our anniversary dinner so wanted something special to remember but all we’ll think about is the hit our wallet took. Asked them to acknowledge our anniversary which they did not, but didn’t want to feel like harping on it, but overall disappointed.

My wife and I went here on a trip to Philly. A great scenic place for dinner. The food was good but a little pricy, but you’re paying for the view. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I had the crab cake and it was very good. My wife had the halibut and it was decent.

Awesome time with friends and family while on a trip to Philly. Spectacular setting as well. Truly memorable experience. If you are so inclined, add the bottomless Sunday brunch drinks to your tab.

Very nice location, food is ok, and service was great. Big negative was bathroom attendants in mens and womens bathrooms. So creepy and unreal for what is held out as an upscale place.

Excellent waterfront setting in a beautifully restored historic four-master sailing ship. Great view from waterside windows and topside. Excellent and pleasant service. Food, however, looks much better on the menu than it tastes -- none of the several dishes our party had would pass muster at any of Philly's distinguished fine restaurants, and a couple tasted downright weird and unappetizing because of unfortunate use of herbs. Music is classic modern -- think Ray Charles -- at a somewhat voluble level. Bottom line, Moshulu is for special occasions where atmosphere trumps all. For this, be prepared to pay in the vicinity of $100/person for a full-blown dinner with wine.

The location, staff and food were all on point. Originally I thought it would be a fortune, but I discovered it to be quite reasonably priced.

First time in Philadelphia and looking forward to nice dinner in a unique setting on a Sunday evening. The waitress announced the specials, all of which sounded wonderful only for the waitress to return informing us that they would not be serving any of the specials that evening. It took over an hour to be served what we did order, Lobster Bisque, and for the entrees', Red Snapper and the Filet. At this point the waitress had disappeared and we were provided apologies from two different managers. We finished our cocktails, however still no waitress. The meal had finally arrived. The Lobster Bisque was not a bisque, it was basically butter soup with scant amounts of lobster. Not even served with toast points. No other flavor was detectible, just butter. The Red Snapper was served next, the filet wouldn't be served until several minutes later. The Red Snapper was paper thin, swimming in a watery lemon sauce, although flavorful. The flavor of the snapper was undetectable and the vegetables were missing. The Filet, ordered medium, was served closer to rare, not medium rare, but rare, had no seasonings what so ever. The sauteed spinach was burnt and the seasoned fingerling potatoes were actually boiled red potatoes, no seasoning. Neither the waitress, nor the managers returned once someone on the kitchen staff served the food. The atmosphere - upstairs, on deck, is a very loud night club. So much for a quiet evening's dinner. In the main indoor dining room it was very dimly lit, candle holders were present on the tables, however no candles. Extremely difficult to read the menu due to poor lighting. May be by design due to the poor quality of the food and the lack of presentation of the entrees. Nothing like was is pictured online. The waitress finally returned to present us with the bill. Expensive for a nice evening out - for the experience we encountered obscene.

The food service view everything was beautiful. Had something that I never had and can say it was worth it. Family and I had alot of laughs the atmosphere was also great

I was visiting a friend and she treated me to the extraordinary experience of lunch on board the Moshulu. Beautiful weather with a nice breeze, very pleasant server and good food. I even received a decorated plate of sorbet with "Happy Birthday" on it. A perfect afternoon. Even loved the bathroom with all of its port holes!

Food was good, not excellent. Service and ambiance are what you are paying for. We enjoyed our meal and would go back again.

Excellent atmosphere, food and service! Had a late lunch of appetizers including sushi, mussels, scallops and cocktails. If the weather is nice definitely ask for the top outside deck overlooking the river

Fabulous Silva/Seymour wedding reception aboard the Moshulu last weekend! The food was fabulous, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres inside, then up the sweeping steps to the upper decks for a fabulous buffet, served in two locations and accompanied by multiple open bars! The food was first rate, with an exceptional salad bar with three choices of greens and two dozen add-ons. The filet and roasted turkey we're done to perfection, the whipped potatoes and herb stuffing received many rave reviews, the wild mushroom raviolis were delicious and tender and the dessert minis were fabulous! Mini lemon meringues, tiramisu, flourless chocolate cake, fruit tarts, all in addition to a tasty wedding cake, packed with chocolate ganache and finished with dotted Swiss chocolate buttercream. The bars were stocked, the crew was super accommodating and the bride and groom raved about how easy it was to work with the Moshulu's wedding planner! The bride and groom could have picked any venue in town for their reception. I very highly recommend you check out the Moshulu for your special event...or just for dinner or drinks. Fabulous setting in a wonderful town! Thanks to the Moshulu from the Silva and Seymour families 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟♥️

Went here for my friend’s birthday dinner and was absolutely blown away! The service, food, and drinks were amazing. I had a a delicious mojito, crab cake entree, and a side of Mac and cheese. The view and the atmosphere were also stunning. This was my first time at the Moshulu and I will definitely be returning!

Took my wife to Sunday brunch. I had a gift card that was just over 3 years old. They refused to accept it saying they changed their gift card program and couldn’t confirm the amount. We showed them the certificate that accompanied the card but they couldn’t care less. They were a bit snooty about it. When we told them that in PA gift cards are good for a minimum of 5 years they begrudgingly said they would comp our tab. The gift card was for $120. Our bill was $90. So we lost $30 in the exchange. They lost any future business from me and I will share the experience with everyone I know. The manager on duty didn’t handle the situation very well.

A venue to rent for private parties. Need I say more? Food meh. Service meh. Venue, well it’s an old ship, but that means uneven floors, cramped areas.

I went to Moshulu in Philadelphia to celebrate my birthday and I was very impressed from the moment I stepped onboard to the moment I left. It was my first visit even though I had heard great reviews. It was an exquisite dining experience! Our waiter was attentive and rendered top-notch service. The food was delicious and appealing to the eyes and palate. The view of the Delaware river was nice. It was a rainy night so we could not appreciate going on the top deck and being outside. I will definitely return here and hope the weather will be nice enough to allow me to enjoy the full experience.
Obnoxiously loud
There was a very large party acting and sounding like they just left their frat house, carrying the party with them. No one even attempted to reign them in. We had to stop another waiter and give him our order, after 20 minutes of no contact from our waitress, as she was swamped with the 20 top. Also, I’ve gone there off & on for 20yrs & the carpet makes me feel like I’m about to get vertigo every time (which I don’t suffer from), I never knew a carpet could do that...it’s so very bad. They need to update/renovate badly, and my husband has said twice now that the floor is just slanted enough to notice, which doesn’t make for a very comfortable or enjoyable experience. I kind of don’t want to go back anymore until I hear they’ve overhauled and I feel like they aren’t known as a party ship where you can carry on as if you’ve rented it out for a private party...when you haven’t. That was absolutely unfair to the rest of the entire dining room. I’ve never felt before like a restaurant owed me a free meal, until now. The food is great but doesn’t make up for the rest. I’m starting to believe, if they weren’t on a historic boat, they’d have closed a long time ago.
