Afternoon at Moxie's

By WorldwideTee |

Visited Moxies on Feb 22, 2019 during late afternoon hours. Enjoyed great service at the bar with a college buddy. Server was on point. Enjoyed drinks and Calamari appetizer. Nice crowd flow, a bit early for "action" but really enjoyed the spot.

A Lot of Show. Food is Okay

By Tom W |

Moxie's Grill and Bar is a nice stylish restaurant in the Galleria Area. They have an impressive bar on the second floor. I liked the open kitchen view. Moxie's took over the Canyon Café spot on Westheimer Road. While the construction in the area is improving, it still has a long way to go. The service was good. The food was average and overpriced. The two Fish Taco Plate was okay. It could have used more spice or flavor. The French Fries were good. The plate wasn't worth the $17 price (with tip). I wish I had gone for their Hamburger instead. Moxie's Grill and Bar is nice, but it is not a place I would frequent often.

COMIDA LUEGO DE CITA MEDICA CON MI HEREDERA..!!

By Adrian Serrano |

The place was very nice, very clean, super smelly, but like most, I don't know why they underestimate us Latinos. When I arrived I asked for a table downstairs because I was with my month-old daughter and they told me that they weren't working downstairs so they forced me. to load the Car set, upstairs then I asked for a table and supposedly that airline was out of service and after a while I went to the bathroom and I see two Americans eating there hahaha, the truth is, don't come, it's not worth it, Houston has many better places and they treat Well, Latinos, they have no idea who I really am...!!

Great Lunch

By JackKellyTX |

Heard some people talking positive on this spot. Checked it out for lunch today. Waitstaff was amazing. More than 3 folks checked on us in the first 15 minutes. Our main server was phenomenal, we took her recommendations and they were on point. Will come back. Soon. Thanks.

Hang out

This is more for La looking people... The younger I think it's more of a pickup place. Although their location is they're missing a few marks on the food. When I come back here again probably not my type of place

Vibrant Music and a Creative Take on Food

By aapony |

I visited Moxie's on a Wednesday night. The music selections added to the energetic vibe, and the diners seemed as if they were enjoying the music and food. The music is on the loud side, but it fits in perfectly with the mode of the place. Think a modern version of a small restaurant in the Miami Vice series. There is al fresco dining around from the bar area plus two levels of indoor eating space. A doorman met us at the entrance to open the door. Our waitress was attentive and friendly, providing feedback on dishes and answering questions as they were asked prior to our ordering. She also frequently checked on us as we ate our appetizers, so she could time when our dinner should arrive. I love gyoza, so I ordered the potstickers with a chili sauce as an appetizer, and a red bell pepper and pineapple salsa which provided a nice twist on the traditional potstickers. For the entrée I had the Chipotle Mango Chicken which Moxie's describes as being prepared with a sweet & smoky dry rub. The entrée also came with lemon quinoa and vegetables. The garnish included sliced avocados, a few pieces of mango and a sweet salsa. The salsa complemented the chicken very well.

A Real Sports Bar in the Galleria!

By mjbbg572 |

For the longest time I was wondering why there was not a real sports bar in the Galleria area. But finally there is one! Welcome to Houston Moxie's Grill and Bar. The place has two levels with plenty of TVs to watch whatever sporting event you want. Both levels also has it's own large bar area. There are large booths on the second level that can easily seat five to six people. There is balcony seating that wraps around the restaurant on both levels. Moxie's serves lunch, dinner, and is open until 2 AM on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Great laid back relaxed casual place to hang out with friends or coworkers while watching the game of your choice. The service was attentive and quick. Drinks were good. And the menu is high quality for a sports bar. I tried the Honey & Garlic Chicken Wings which was just alright. Next time I will go with the Salt & Pepper flavor. The Sushi Cones were well made and delicious. I also had fresh made Tuna Poke with avocado which was refreshingly tasty. On my second meal at Moxie's I had the Calamari with Shrimp and the Rib Tips cooked with salt & pepper. Both were excellent to have with our drinks. There are plenty more choices on the menu that I would like to try. I will be back soon!

Great meal at a fair price!

By Carl P |

Stopped in during a recent business trip. Had the Tuna Power Bowl and friend had the Blackened Mahi Mahi. Both were fantastic. The service was excellent. We sat outside on a cool evening and enjoyed the sights and sounds of downtown Houston.

Cool place for a get together

By satchsd |

Yes its a little too cool and its part of the scene but the food is good and the space is nice. The apps definitely are tasty and the drinks are well put together.

Great food, great place

By Jeremy H |

I visited here last weekend and was immediately impressed. The building is amazing, with both great indoor and outdoor options. The upstairs patio is a great addition. We had apps and mains - both were incredibly cooked and tasted great. Even better, it was served with a smile. The staff were friendly and seemed to enjoy working there. I’d highly recommend this spot. We’ll be back before we go.

Great food, great service

By KellyMcIntosh |

I was in town for business and found Moxie’s. We tried the sushi cones and blackened Mahi, which were excellent. We sat on the patio- what a great spot. I would recommend to others.

Terrible experience with Tim

By Pedro Souza |

Terrible experience with a waiter called Tim. First he said that we had 10min to leave as there was a reservation on our table (???). Then removed a table that we had put together when awaiting for our wives. Highly recommend to let him go as he is clearly not prepared to work on this place.

Delightful Restaurant with delicious food.

By SilverFox925 |

Our party was seated quickly on the outside patio. The menu options were numerous and the bar drinks were quite delicious. The meal was ordered and served quickly. It was delicious, hearty fare, well seasoned and with very good portions. This is a very nice restaurant with attentive servers.

Moxies has Moxy

By Cody G |

Outstanding food and service. The awesome crew at the hostess stand got us a great table for a party of 8 on the patio in the beautiful weather while we only had a reservation for 6ppl and showed up an hour early....Thank you!!! This place is outstanding and not "chain-ish" at all. Highly recommend, most stylish and fun spot in the galleria.

a good time

we stopped in one night after work and this place was kicking. friendly staff and great food. great place to watch a game.

Not too inviting

By Gumbeaux Galore Neek |

Most places that I’ve eaten at, I can give easily give a positive or negative review. This restaurant is on my least favorite places due to not providing customer service, the waitress wasn’t attentive, my order was completely wrong, and the wait was extremely too long to say that it wasn’t a large crowd. After I told the waitress that I asked for a well done steak, not rare., she just looked at me and said, “okay” as if I was supposed to be satisfied with it. I gave it two stars because it’s a beautiful view in the city and it’s inexpensive.

Birthday Dinner

By A. Bar |

We went to dine at Moxie’s for a friend birthday last night (5/11). Reservation taken by ms. Kimberly for party of 10 at 5:30 PM. There was a miscommunication on both part regarding of table arrangement and everything went down a spiral. The fact of the manager, ms Gabby, and other hostess lack of awareness on how to handle the situation very disappointing. We were ask to leave when other guests still have their food on the table. I worked in service industry world wide for years and I can tell you the attitude and rudeness need to be address by the management. A. Bar

I want more

By Queen |

I ordered the salmon, fresh potatoes fries and omgoodness... it was well done, crispy and I can tell it was made with love. I cannot remember the lady who took care of my table but you are wonderful and you deserve a raise for all your patience you rendered.

Fabulous!!

By Nycmcm |

This restaurant has delicious food with a variety of great menu options, a friendly and helpful staff, the owners are incredibly sweet, and the overall atmosphere is fantastic. I definitely recommend this restaurant for lunches and or dinners. It's a great place for a business meeting over lunch or dinner and cocktails with friends.

Great Business Lunch

By jeremyr761 |

We had a fun business lunch here after a long flight. The portions were huge and the quality was good. We were very surprised how good the food tasted for a sports bar. The atmosphere was interesting to say the least.

Good atmosphere!

By Jason W |

We met a friend here and sat at the bar for drinks and food. Bar staff was great and never let us ask for anything, they were always on top of it. It was a busy mall, so unless you do valet...might have a hard time parking.

Unpleasant Experience, Family Unfriendly Establishment!

By Doctor |

I took my family to Moxie and was asked by the hostess if we would like to sit on the patio or inside. We opted for the patio since it was a pleasant day. Once we were seated and ordered, the waitress came back to our table to inform us that we would need to place a credit card on file in order to receive service! I was totally insulted! We were never informed of this before we were seated. I asked for a manager as I have never been required to submit a credit card at a restaurant upon being seated. The manager arrived and informed me that they have been having problems with people ditching their bill. I am an upstanding citizen and community advocate. There was no need for Moxie to assume that I was going to skip out on a bill. The first manager I spoke with informed me that we could move upstairs where there was no such requirement and we did. During our meal, a second manager, who I later found out was an owner, came to our table. I asked him if he had been informed of our experience, he said no so I proceeded to explain to him what had occurred. Instead of apologizing for our experience, he was rude and proceeded to argue with me as he told me that people jump over their patio and do not pay their bill. He was assuming and stereotyping ALL of his clientele. I explained to him that there was nothing posted on the door indicating that a credit card BAR TAB was required to sit on the patio to patronize the restaurant. He kept alluding that it was posted. I have uploaded pictures of what we saw as we entered as well as the Dress Code on the website that was in a small 8 x 10 frame on the side of the hostess stand. It is illegible to those who walk in the door. This owner was disrespectful and lacked professionalism as well as customer service! It is of my opinion that this establishment is discriminatory and is not FAMILY Friendly. It operates more like a club than a restaurant. If you are visiting Houston, Texas, please select another restaurant for you family! There are plenty of respectable, family oriented restaurants in the Gallera Area that will show you the respect you deserve! In addition, the food was not to the fresh standard I am accustomed to at all. It is indeed subpar!

Don’t believe the hype! Service sucks!!

By DeltaDoc12 |

I have never been to an institution that takes a credit card to hold before you even eat. 30 minutes for drinks at least. Waitress was highly unpleasant and still charge 20 percent gratuity for horrible attitude with mediocre service. Now saying of of the above, this place got the 2 stars solely for the food. Lettuce wraps and broccoli were amazing. Linguine was alright but wouldn’t get it again. It suffices to say no matter how great the food your experience is ruined by horrible service along with forced payment for the same debasing behavior. I will never be back especially since Houston has way too many options to tolerate this utter foolishness.

Won’t be back

By Da'Rel B |

Not sure why I had to give my credit card for my wife and I to even sit down. How often to ppl skip out on the bill at this place to make them treat every like a thief from the jump. The soda was flat, and the water tasted terrible. I will admit, the food was decent, and my waitress was ok. They do add 20% gratuity and then leave a blank line for another tip.

Solid food and great scenery

By GSU320 |

I stopped by to meet a few business friends. The food is top notch. Best Nachos and roast beef sandwich ever. Dress is a little business like and pricey, but overall an must when in town.

Nice or OK but would think twice about coming again

By DrEitan |

Here is my take: Pro's: 1. Variety of options on the menu 2. NY Steak was excellent- overpriced though 3. New place just opened 2 weeks ago so lots of buzz now 4. Manager did come out to say hello at table Con's: 1. No official Kids Menu 2. 13 dollars for calamari! 3. Requested military discount for US/Canadian active and veterans was denied 4. Noisy and music loud 5. Not a place to bring a family 6. Server was slow and not very responsive

Very good choice for dinner

Restaurant, super picturesque, with excellent food, prices, very accessible, and spectacular attention, highly recommended to come to dinner

WAITRESS LIED AND ADDED 20% GRATUITY FOR A PARTY OF 2

By MRD2005 |

We decided to try this place for the first time today…great location in front of the galleria …hostesses were pleasant and we were sat promptly …there were tables in the bar area (not at the actual bar)….after 10 min …a waitress finally came by…she immediately asked for my CC to start a tab at the bar…I found this quite strange since we were seated at a table to dine and not at the actual bar having drinks…but no biggie…I gave her my CC…it was 12pm so we just ordered coffee and hot tea…it took another 20 min for her to come back and inform us that they were out of green tea…food was decent…on our bill I noticed that a 20% gratuity ($9) was automatically added to the bill …I find this a little strange and quite disrespectful for a party of 2…bill was only $48…I would have tipped $10 anyway so no real monetary difference…it just left a bad taste in my mouth…when I questioned our waitress about it…she said this was standard policy on the weekends (posted at the front door)…I made a point to look for this notice which clearly stated that 20% gratuity would be added for parties of 6 or more…this is more understandable…so our waitress is either IGNORANT OR LYING ….neither is an acceptable excuse for bad service…we won’t be coming back

Must go

By Jamie D |

Went to Moxie’s on a recommendation from the hotel bartender and we were not disappointed. The food was top notch. I had a blackened chicken burger, which was absolutely delicious. The only problem I had was trying to decide if it or the fries were better. I followed it up with the white chocolate browning...which was also near perfection. All that said, it is a little noisy, as they play music (basically club music) quite loud, but it certainly didn’t bother me. I guess if you were on a date trying to pay attention to in depth conversation, maybe this might not be the place, but I would not avoid it in any other case. This will be a must have place for me every time I travel to Houston.

Adding automatic tip to black tables ?

By Earl B |

Tip is already included for a party of 2? Who does this? I spent the last 30 years as waiter, manager and ( later in career) restaurant owner. What I teach and learned is a “Tip is earned not given.” Granted the waitress ( Olivia) did a great job ( always had a smile); and she was professional; however just to prove a point I left her an extra tip 35%. Prior to my dinner this weekend, I was one of the biggest supporters of Moxies but not anymore. Adding an automatic tip to small parties are tacky and can be viewed as racist; do the research please Moxies considering half of your customers are people of color. History shows restaurants use automatic tip for black and brown tables - history does not lie. I wonder if Moxies add automatic tips to white tables? Also asking for credit cards before you eat is unprofessional especially at a table; I will not be returning or giving positive word of mouth.

Good prices, extremely noisy

By Melanie O |

I would not recommend this place if you want to be able to chat with your friends during dinner! It is a very busy place! Tv screens everywhere, loud and lively! Note that there is a dress code - most people are well dressed and shorts and not allowed. The food was nice, I loved the wings and the tacos were alright. The ribs were very good. And the prices...unbeatable.

We dropped by for after office drinks. Excellent cocktails and amazing food. Well presented. The very friendly vibe and ambience. We really enjoyed our evenings there - 2 in a row!

Great bar food

By 19Megs89 |

Visited here several times for food and drinks. The Nachos are epic, Definitely for sharing. Visited when Houston was having its super cold weather and it was the only place on the street still opened so very busy as you can imagine. Lots of outdoor seating and very helpful staff.

No masks on the employees! What happened

By DrEitan |

Food was great. Service was good. However, in the time of COVID- not one worker, from the waitress to the managers, was wearing a mask. I would think twice before coming again. At PF Chang everyone working was wearing a mask. At this time, if an establishment shows a seriousness on safety you are more likely to get customers through your door.

Food Great, Service Just OK

By craig1086 |

Came here for lunch with a big party, and everyrhing was generally great. Good atmosphere, and two levels. Had to keep asking for bbq sauce for my burger and fries. That's why it's 4 stars, and not 5. Get the brunch burger or loaded burger. Doesn't disappoint. By the galleria mall.

Less than Average

By DDDSSS123 |

Disappointment #1-We went to the Moxie for Houston Restaurant Week, but we found out that they decided not to participate. Disappointment #2- There where numerous open tables, but the hostess sat us next to a door which opened to the patio which blasted us with hot air every time it was opened. Disappointment #3-The food was no better than a Denny’s. The steak tasted like old meat, the ribs “just okay”, and the twice baked potato was dry. Redeeming moment was when the manager apologized to us for the problems then gave us a complimentary dessert. We will NEVER go to this restaurant again.

Night out with my Bestie

By adatar |

Busy, Busy, Busy place! I went with my bestie on a Friday night, without reservation. We had an hour's wait. But, we got drinks at the bar and enjoyed our wait time. The staff and management is very gracious and accommodating. The ambience and the vibe of the place is very upbeat. This is a perfect place to go with your friends and have a good time. The drinks are good. I loved my old fashioned and my friend had ordered the grapefruit Mojito which she enjoyed. The good was on point as well. We ordered the Salmon which was perfectly cooked and seasoned, Thai red curry bowl which was alright, could have been better and for appetizers we ordered the Sushi cones which were delicious. The music is loud, so if you want an evening with soft music and mellow ambience where you want to be able to have a conversation, this is not the place. The establishment is two levels so, if you do plan on going, I would suggest asking for a table upstairs. They also have outside seating which would be rather nice on a beautiful day, weather wise. All in all a wonderful experience and definitely going back.

Great atmosphere

By Teshea B |

We walked to Moxie's from our hotel and it was a nice walk. Great atmosphere, great and friendly servers and the food was amazing. Very worth looking into this restaurant.

Good vegetarian options, but seems to racially profile.

By Kameron M |

I think its proximity to the mall is the only thing keeping this place afloat. As a vegetarian, I’d picked the restaurant because of its extensive list of veggie options to fuel me after a full day @ the Galleria. When we arrived, there was a worker outside whose sole purpose was to critique outfits. A larger group of African-American men dresses neatly in smart casual (Nike dunks and baseball caps - appropriate for the mall & weather) were rudely turned away by the worker until they demanded to speak to a manager. The manager allowed them in but said they were “pushing it.” As tourists, we’d spent the day walking the mall and the surrounding area, so we were dressed similarly. After the ruckus & likely my not so quiet commentary about how the practice was discriminatory, we were welcomed into the restaurant with no problems, but my African-American boyfriend is pretty white-passing, so that could also have been a factor. As soon as we sat down, the waitress asked for a card to put on file. It seems that they’ve either had problems with patrons dining & dashing or management is incredibly prejudice against the large number of African-Americans who dine there. The food was tasty and we enjoyed eating outside people watching.

Enjoyable

By TravelBrianCO |

Quick burgers in a nice setting for a business dinner. Service was polite and the food was good. No wait mid week in the evening.

My friends bday dinner

By Lala G |

I went Saturday night the food was just ok !! The hot mess was the drink I order because the server reminded it .... super weak !!! Every ten min there wait staff was dropping glasses .. Don’t go the this hot mess of restaurant !! Oh let me not forget I’m going to the bbb because the card my card 4 times my meal was only 42 dollars that I sign with tip included but then they charge me on top of my bill 14.25 two times then charged me 60.62 ! I feel this company is scamming people I called Sunday 3 times and know one would help !!! If you must go here pay cash !!!

Excellent place in Uptown

By Chase |

This is the fourth time I've been here since they opened and each visit has been excellent. The room has a great vibe with two bars on two floors. I always order a steak when I go for dinner and the steak is always cooked perfectly. Staff are very attentive. Look forward to my next visit.

Great Outdoor Patio & Food!

By TerrellsToy |

Yes, we sat outdoors on the patio to watch the NBA Finals, and yes there were fans plus we could feel the air conditioning from the building. I ordered the margarita and cauliflower that is flashed and seasoned like its stir fry...omg that was tasty! The calamari is great as well. Service was personable and good. I've been several times and will go again. Location is convenient and parking is free. What else do you need in H-Town?

GOING OUT OF YOUR WAY

By Isa |

We went in to have a drink and a light meal. We visited moxie's last year for Spring Break, we only had one drink. We loved the atmosphere so this year we knew we wanted to visit again. I have to say we loved our visit on March 11, 2019. The service, I have to say was a 10. We had some drinks which were ice cold and very good. I cannot have cilantro, the waiter said he could put anything with cilantro on the side and that he would let his manager stop by. They both told me they would fix me some guacamole with no cilantro. Have never had a restaurant offer me an alternative before. That alone would make us returning customers. We ordered nachos, which were delicious. We also ordered the poutine for the first time, also delicious. I wish I had the name of the waiter and manager so I can thank them. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Houston. Thank you Moxie’s

Inadequate Social Distancing

By prm78 |

This restaurant has ample patio seating, so we considered it a good option for a first evening meal after 're-opening'. However, we found the patio crowded, with many tables too close to allow anything like 6 ft distancing. And the surprising thing was that the restaurant has a whole upper patio deck, and this was not open! 50% occupancy means 50% of the customers in 100% of the space, not vice versa! This crowding gives no confidence that the restaurant is following safe practices .. give it a miss!

HORRIBLE FOOD AND UNETHICAL BEHAVIOR

By James B |

Horrible food, and when we canceled and left, they charged our card anyway. They will make you give them your credit card before you order because they do this to people. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD UNLESS YOU ARE DONE WITH YOUR FOOD. Or just go somewhere else. There are many nicer restaurants with better food nearby, including Joey's, Mastros, etc.

Good Place For Brunch

By MichellesOnTheRoad |

We went to Moxie's for brunch. The French Toast was thick, but not overly heavy. The drinks were really good too. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. We're looking forward to trying the patio when it's not so hot.

Good food

By Mark F |

Moxies is a short walk for the JC Mariott hotel. The food was excellent; good selection;, the steak fro perfectly grilled and there was the option of potatoes rather than fries. Attentive and helpful staff - mid priced restaurant.

Nothing special. Watch out for hidden charges.

By John Speller |

As one of our (English) party had visited a Moxie's somewhere else, this is where we went. It was busy, with multiple screens showing different sports. We were seated in a fine place. I had the ribs, which were tasty. The vegetables were a bit too 'al dente' for my taste, the jacket potato was nice. My wife wanted a jacket potato instead of fries with her steak - which she sent back because it was not well done - but this request seemed to phase the waitress. What annoys me about most American restaurants is that the price you pay bears no resemblance to the price on the menu. It is annoying when 20 per cent service charge is added to the bill, no matter how good or bad the service is. In good old Blighty we might chuck a few quid down if we are satisfied with the service, but I appreciate that things are different in the States.

food okay, but service disappointing

By vacationmanic |

Moxie's has two floors. We were seated on the second floor. There were many television screens where we could watch the Houston Rockets game. Menu is standard grill & bar fare. Food was average quality, but overpriced for what you got. Service was disappointing. I would not return to Moxie's.

The place to be for a good meal or drink

By Mr D |

Stylish place, very good and quality food, excellent service. You are able to have a conversation while having dinner, you can sit both in and outside. If only they could buy a coffee machine, but the food and entourage makes up for it.

Great Atmosphere

Four of us had dinner and drinks last week and had a fantastic night. Our service was very attentive and the food was also awesome - had a great night and will definitely go back!

Pretty cool place to get a good Galleria lunch

By AttorneyJohn7 |

Last week my wife and I met with another couple for lunch and drinks at Moxie's on the other guy's suggestion, after finding it on Open Table. Thinking about the location, I made the slight face one does when one hopes that the meal and service will live up to the at least moderately-inflated prices necessary for a restaurant to even exist around the Galleria. Moxie's is where the old Canyon Café was, apparently, though I never went there. People claim it is a much better interior experience now than it was, as it is much more airy and bright. There is a spacious deck/patio area on the 2nd floor level which would most likely be enjoyable during the months when the Texas heat isn't unbearable. We stopped in, arriving first, and were met and greeted by a bubbly hostess asking if we had a reservation. We did not, and explained that there had been aa call ahead to see if such was required, which she agreed it was not. Giving up the total of four, we were sent up the stairs, where we were again greeted by another hostess who led us... quite a distance as the place is pretty big... to our table. We could have easily sat 7 people in the u-shaped booth we were given. Very spacious. Interesting thing, the booth is lifted, and the table is high, so there is a foot rail on which to put your feet. It wasn't uncomfortable, just interesting. The menu options were broad and varied, with little twists and spins on things. We were after some kind of ketogeneic meal, so my lady and I went for breakfast omelets, mine with peppers, bacon and cheese... hers with some fish I believe. When they came out, both were quite sizeable and I was pleased witht he portion, as I was not going to eat the provided, and obviously scrumptious potatoes (the temptation... resisted!). For drinks, we each had the regular old bloody mary, and when it cam eout it was quite good, perhaps slightly overgarnished with more vegatables than I personally are for, but properly made with the slightly more than a hint of heat and worcestshire sauce. Didn't note any horseradish as some bars tend to do. Price point was I considered. My wife and I got out for right at $80.00-ish, witht he tip in that, for two entrée omelets, and a total of four drinks. So, not break the bank, but definitely not places out of the Galleria, closer to home. We'd most likely go back if in the area.

Long Wait for Drinks

By ian |

Arrived mid Saturday afternoon for few drinks. Nice setting sitting outdoors and were quickly attended to. However had to wait almost 20 minutes for drinks and when they did arrive we were told one was not available. We also asked for snack menu but it never arrived. Bit disappointed as it was our first day back in Houston hopefully it was just an aberration.

great Sunday adventure...

amazing day to refresh oneself with drinks at this location. Menu provided many options but I didn't try any of them. The drinks were decent. My favorite thing about this venue was the outside patio and GREAT music selection. pretty looking staff. clean restaurant. parking is limited.

Fun place, great food

Really fun sports bar with plenty of TV’s, good bar food and entrees and terrific staff. Delicious burgers, calamari, fish, nachos and much more. Nice wine and drink selection. And best of all they also deliver.

Best place for anniversary

By travelalot_mkaya |

Me and my wife visited Moxie’s first time on my birthday. It was a great experience for us. The staff was great, ambiance was great. At the end of night, one cake with a candle was sent by chéf. It was surprise for me and complimentary. I highly recommend this place.

it is a going kind of place

By gay e |

I liked my food very much and thought service good-it is a place for the young and fun I believe can get a bit noisy as is usually crowded

Delicious Food all around.

By Lorraine W |

Delicious Food all around. Very urban and vibrant setting. Somewhat noisy upstairs but not horrible it actually has a good vibe. I don’t like loud music but I actually enjoyed it. There are plenty of quiet and more private spots. They had great servers. The wait was well worth it.

Probably Much Better If You're in Canada

By davemh333 |

I'm not a big fan of Canadian "street food," so this isn't the place for me. Too many high fat, greasy dishes. There are a lot of better choices than this chain restaurant in the Galleria area.

Great lunch spot

By TNmmmmmm |

My wife and I went here for lunch. It has a very vibrant and modern feel. There is an awesome patio and many windows on the lower level. The lower level is a very upscale bar feel. The service was on point. The food was very good. They have a good variety of dishes with a flare. I had the French dip which was exceptional. I like how it was served on a pretzel bun. The food was tasty and cooked well.

nice and relax

By Deb E |

I had the salmon cobb salad and this was so good. also had the Moscow mule. It was a nice ambiance. sat outside with my company, it was a little cold outside but the heat lamps helped a lot.

Both hostesses at 1:15 on Friday, June 13, 2024 were witches!!!

By Shelli U |

I had some business to do. I went in and asked for a table outside the young Hispanic girl said if I did not find a place outside, she would get me a table. I walked back up and told her there was nothing outside. She opened the door and said have a nice day. Never offered me a table. She rushed me out. I will never visit this establishment again. I was totally humiliated.

Can u hear me now

By AUSAGUY007 |

This place has good access to the Galleria although the area still under construction and they have valet parking the place is busy but it reminds me more of an LA thing the fancy people ordering the fancy food and you can't even hear yourself think when it's busy more for the younger crowd I'm sure it will be around until it Fizzles out just like the concept up around the corner wish them the best with this concept what I come here for the food considering it's in the Galleria area most likely not but if you want to look like you're from LA and wear your sunglasses and throw down cash to impress people this is the place to go

Great experience

By My Third Visit, I Was a Regular

By Scott S |

Nice hip urban environment, pop hit music which always seemed to improve my mood, cool indoor-outdoor first-floor bar which was awesome when the weather was nice. One of the best burgers I've had in years. They serve my favorite wine and the price was pretty moderate. The crowd was upscale and always pleasant with a nice mixture of ages, ethnicity, sexual orientations, etc. Best of all were the bartenders (I'm a bar-sitting loner). I went in about five times over the course of eight days, and by the third time Tatiana was pouring my wine and calling me by name before I even got seated. All very friendly and welcoming people working there, actually.

Meh

By quiche_kishhh |

The food was just okay and the cocktail was decent; however, the hostess tried to seat us at a dark table in the back by the bathroom. I thought I had overcome. Smh. Then after our meal the waitress got the credit cards mixed up and had to have the manager fix. Sigh.

I'll come back.

By gudtexan |

Some good, some bad. The place is very nice and has an excellent outdoor seating area that I did not get to enjoy tonight. Ordered some wine and a few of the appetizers. The Steak Bites and Brussel Sprouts were very good. I did not like Spicy Tuna Roll. Two bites of that and decided it was not good. I eat sushi all the time, and this was not good. Its a great place for a business dinner or date. I'm assuming this is by design, but they had a very attractive staff. I will come back and try it again the next time I'm in the area.

Great Atmosphere

Interesting New Upscale Restaurant

By red1990 |

My wife and I had dinner here the other night. They just opened last week and very pretty 2 Story Restaurant with bars on both levels and lots of Televisions and outdoor seating which was not open yet. Food and service was excellent and great people watching. Good and interesting menu and something for everyone. Very contemporary place with excellent location on Post Oak Blvd. It is a little noisy and music a little loud so be ready for that. When we left about 8:30 there was a wait. We will go back. Barbecue Ribs are great.

Great Vibes, Good Food, Great Place to Watch a Game

By Traveling By Teresa |

We loved the atmosphere at Moxies! The vibes were fun and upbeat, and having TVs everywhere was such a nice touch — you can enjoy your meal and still keep up with whatever game is on. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious. It’s the kind of place that works for everything — dinner before a game, a casual night out, or just hanging out with family and friends. We’ll definitely be back!

Two Dollar Ice!

By BanjobobHouston |

First of all, this is a happening place if you’re in your 20’s, 30’s, or, possibly 40’s. We were absolutely the oldest people there. It’s really more like an upscale sports bar, rather than a restaurant. It was loud and hopping at 7:00pm on a Tuesday night. The service was good and the food was adequate. The menu was extensive enough, as was the wine and spirits selection. Things went fine until we got a “surprise” with the bill. I had ordered a bourbon on the rocks and was charged an extra $2 for the rocks. When I asked about it, our waitress explained that they charge more for the rocks because they give you more liquor. I seriously doubt it. I’m not sure I even got a full jigger with my ice. I’ve never heard of this. Buyer beware!

Upscale Bar & Grill in Galleria - Perfectly Located

By BadGyalDre516 |

Came here with a friend last Saturday afternoon around 12pm....we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was still considered brunch by the time we artived. It was not over crowded...it was just the right amount of busy. We sat on the upstairs balcony. The ambiance was really nice. I liked the vibe of the entire place. Its located at a perfect spot in the Galleria area. Its a good place to look cute, eat, drink, hang out, and people watch. It could also be a good place to have a lunch date. I had the fish tacos, which were really good. My friend had the brunch burger and said it was also really good. I cant wait to try somethimg else off the menu. I look forward to coming back real soon. Next time Ill try HH or dinner time.

Boisterous, Loud, Not a Great Value

By Global_Coug |

Moxies is often packed and a wonderful example of the ethnic diversity that is much of Houston. It's loud, boisterous and a lot of people are having a lot of fun. Just understand, that having a conversation means you have to speak at the top of your lungs to be heard unless you're outside on the patio or the balcony. Frankly, it's just overpriced for what it is. Combine that with the noisy ambiance, lack of parking, and incredible traffic congestion in the Galleria area these days and, well, there are better choices.

Date Night

By Sonya G |

Moxie's was just awesome! I came here for date night and everything was amazing! the mango chicken was fantastic and my wife had the oven roasted chicken. Both dishes were recommended by the waiter and he could not of nailed it better. I saw they had steaks as well but I was in the mood for chicken. The grapefruit mojito was super tasty and you can never go wrong with Crown royal! I can't wait to come back Especially once the rockets make the playoffs!! Till next time Moxie's Way to go!

Large group of us in town for a wedding needed a mid-Afternoon place for drinks and appetizers...Moxies was perfect. Lots of tvs for sports and a great selection of drinks. Our sweet waitress is expecting a baby but never missed a step taking good care of a rowdy group of 14! Fun atmosphere.

Bad service and bad management.

By BrightonladySpring |

Our waitress had an attitude from the beginning. We arrived before happy hour was over, our waitress told us it was 6:00 pm, the time was 5:55 pm. Our food came under cooked. Waitress did not know what sides came with each meal. I ended up with two salads because she did not know that the steak came with mixed greens. Waitress spilled water all over our food and table. Waitress offered us a free desert for spilling water. When I told management all they would do was take off one meal. So disappointed in this Moxies. Management please have your servers trained better with what the meal comes with, happy your needs to end at 6:00 pm not earlier. When you mess up on people’s meals, spill water on them and food, meal should be free!

Great!

The food was great! I had the spicy curry shrimp bowl. It was fabulous! Margarita was good, too! Good service!

Lot's of people

By 521arturoa |

The food was good but nobody was practicing social distancing or wearing a mask not even the workers. I felt odd wearing my mask.

Energetic, Exciting, Delicious!

By Yagelski |

Moxie’s is a happening place where the vibe is electric. This is a two-story establishment with full bars on both levels. Televisions are placed throughout for convenient viewing of sporting events. While it may have the appearance of a “sports bar” the dining is at the next level. The menu is varied with options to please just about everyone. From salads to burgers to fresh seafood and steaks. Everything is expertly prepared and tasty. The staff is super friendly and very efficient. While the energetic crowd can be a bit noisy, it’s never loud or obnoxious. Moxie’s is a great choice for dinner or just drinks. A wonderful option in the Houston Galleria area.

Add 20% to your bill

By LPogo |

Was surprised to be asked for credit card before we ordered anything. The big shocker was the fact they added 20% tip to the tab with no disclosure at all. We were a party of 2, so not a party of 6+ to justify. Had no idea it was an automatic add until bill came to table. Seems like a very strange concept. How about you add 20% to pricing and just say no tipping allowed. Food was decent. Service was a 6 out of 10. Atmosphere was 8 out of 10.

Blah

By Robert R |

What can you say? Trendy overpriced place and the food is not all that good. Went for lunch and I have had better French Dip at a Denny's. Soup was ok. Service was weak considering we were the only people downstairs for lunch. They have nice TV's, so I guess that is good. In other words not going back if I have a choice.

Texas Take on Canadian Import

By ekimyllek |

For the first Houston location of the Canadian chain, it's a well done job. The usual nods to the North are there with poutine and Caesars readily available. Overall the menu is well done. It's North American standards done well. Drinks are well made, and portions are generous, but not excessive. Moxies is a welcome addition to the Uptown area, and with their large patios and prime location, it should be success.

Football!!

By Sonya G |

Came in over the weekend and they had football on all tv's, they were even able to change one of the tv's for me to the Game I wanted! I noticed they had the sound on Downstairs and music on upstairs which I thought was great. A little bit of everything for everyone!!The food was awesome and the service was spot on. I definitely recommend for watching sports! If you're not a sports fan they have great food and drinks to keep you happy!

Excellent Server Lauren !

By Erin-Audrey A |

I was very impressed with the service today. Fast , friendly, and efficient!!! Thank you so much for making that a priority.

Great Place To Eat With Friends

By Mike S |

I like this place .... I’ve eaten here twice in Feb 2018. Both times I had a meal at the bar. Service is very good and the atmosphere is electric. My food both times could only be described as fantastic. A word of caution it can be rather loud in here. You need to get away from the bar area if you want a quieter night. Cost wise it’s pretty reasonable too

Cool place

By Tiffany |

Visited Houston in October. Stopped in here for food and drinks. It was cool Very nice bathroom. I loved the vibe. The food was decent. I didn't pay for the food but I know it was a little over priced. I would be back. The vibe was right for a Saturday. I overall enjoyed visiting Moxie's

Great lunch

I had a business lunch at Moxie's. I had never been, and it was fantastic. My salad was delicious, and our server, Cody was amazing Can't believe I've never eaten here before!

Delicious and worth returning to

By HoustonFoodAndWine |

My wife & I stopped in for happy hour and an early dinner. Upon request we were seated outside on the top deck and immediately greeted by a friendly server who did a good job taking care of us throughout the course of our meal. We ordered multiple appetizers, a couple of drinks, and one entree and were quite happy with nearly every aspect of the meal: from the quality of the food to the portion sizes and flavors, I would order just about every dish again. My only qualm (which was just a matter of expectation vs. reality) pertained to the "Loaded Burger" that I ordered. It was about as generic and boring of a burger as you could expect and, while nothing in and of itself tasted bad, there is really no reason to go out of one’s way to get it. Even in the realm of “normal” burgers it was boring. However, I am not sure what I expected because I usually don’t order burgers at restaurants unless I know for certain they’re worth getting. Who knows, something initially lured me in to ordering the burger, but at least now I know not to get it again. With regards to drinks my wife’s happy hour margarita was a bit watered down (again, what do you expect? It’s a happy hour margarita...) and my “Million Dollar Margarita” was delicious but not worth $25, in my opinion. Again, most of our food was so good we’ll most assuredly return, burger and drinks aside.

Warning: Their policies are NOT guest friendly. I will NOT ever return.

By Cecil W |

The overall experience was quite demeaning. Two things happened that I wish I had known before I brought clients with me here and sat down. #1 - Just to sit and order food THEY ASK THE TABLE TO PROVIDE A CREDIT CARD UPFRONT. FOWL. Never in my life at ANY other restaurant IN THE WORLD have I been asked to provide a card upfront. #2 No matter how large or small your party is, THEY AUTOMATICALLY ADD 20% GRATUITY. We were a party of three. It's incredibly rare that l ever tip less than 20%. I was so embarrassed for myself and my clients over my selection of this place. It's no wonder their dinner and bar crowd has thinned tremendously. We were so insulted by this kind of service. I will never return to Moxie's. They need to post their insulting policies on the front door so that you don’t end up feeling too embarrassed to stand up and walk out (therefore figuratively trapped). PS - My shrimp tacos were pretty bad. Out appetizers, but no one in the group enjoyed their entré.

1st timers

By Travel with the Johnsons |

Our waiter Christian was fun, professionally, impressive and attentive. The atmosphere is really nice. The bathroom trash was over flowing, I told the hostess and she immediately took action. Food was delicious...from the sushi to the chicken sandwich, I don't eat beef or pork. Service was quick. After dinner the restaurant gave us a very nice surprise that was unexpected. Will definitely visit again.

Brief Stop in for a Beer

By dctravel |

I dropped in for a quick beer before dinner. They had a good draft list and ample outdoor space. It was also fairly crowded around the bar and seemed like a good place to have a drink and catch up with friends.

Loud with average food

By MTorre |

The place is nice, big patio and bar area. Loud and busy. Food is just average. Large portions, as expected in Texas.

VERY NICE PLACE, VERY GOOD FOOD

By Salvo |

went there with a colleague for weekday dinner during a business trip. A very nice location, warm yet modern environment Friendly staff so ... a very nice environment ! then the food arrived: delicious guacamole and an excellent steak ! A very pleasant dinner

Average burger

By Piotrek P |

It was a very average burger, as for Texas well below average. Dry, no seasoning. However sweet potato fries were great, pork dumplings good as well.

Average food and SLOW

By SN T |

Cool vibe. But a dinner that should have taken two hours at the most took three hours. The restaurant was not crowded. It seems as if the entrees were not cooked until after we finished the appetizers. In dire need of filling vegetarian options. Very puzzling place.

A Sports Bar That Racially Profiles Customers Under The Guise Of A Dress Code!

By Blessing O |

This place is full of racist white men cherry-picking who gets to come Into their establishments during peak hours. Their door host engages in racial profiling looking away when white people show up in athletic wears while turning away black, Latino, and other people of color. What I experienced last night was horrible. Two of my friends were already seated and I was not allowed in because I was wearing joggers, a very expensive one at that. While I watched white women with revealing sportswear stroll in with no issue. I ran to Marshalls to purchase a dress, and was shocked to find 8 black and Latino men in line trying to purchase a shirt. This is what they want to achieve, belittle and disrespect us, remove our dignity, while they enjoy cheap soggy fries with people who look like them. They are simply curating a room of white people, keeping BIPOC to a minimum to continue appealing to their base. Shame on them, shame on the management, investors , and board of directors. It’s okay to take money from us during non-peak hours but not during peak hours. They clearly believe there are no consequences to these actions, and it’s honestly shocking to me.

Surprisely Wonderful!

By fshepherd |

Food was delicious, Sever was exceptional (just a pity i forgot his name) ambience was laid back. The only draw back is the music was a little big loud, you will have to speak at a elevated tone to your guest/colleague. We asked for a glueten free menu. On the "gluten free menu" it has a disclaimer that it's not gluten fee..

Rude Manager and Bartender

By Gabrielle M |

A few days ago, my two friends and I visited Moxies, a place we frequent often. We each arrived separately and settled at the bar. Despite the bartender taking orders directly in front of us from the kiosk area, she consistently overlooked us. We found ourselves having to flag her down for every request, each time met with a curt response. As the evening progressed, with the bar becoming increasingly busy, we tried asking another bartender at the service station for help. However, he too was swamped with orders. Eventually, it was the bar back who stepped in to assist us. Unfortunately, our original bartender did not return to serve us again. At the conclusion of our meal, we spoke with the manager regarding our experience, particularly about being charged a 20% gratuity despite the poor service. His response was dismissive and confrontational. He insisted on us paying the full amount, including the gratuity. Despite my background in the service industry and understanding that forced gratuities are not a legal requirement, he proceeded to dispute this with us. The situation escalated when the manager, in an attempt to address the service issue, called the bartender over and pointedly told her, "they said you're giving them bad service." This approach was highly unprofessional and embarrassing for everyone involved. After a few minutes of going back and forth with the manager and him telling us that he wasn't able to do it. He eventually gave in... pressed 3 buttons on the screen and printed our new tickets WITHOUT gratuity. His overall tone and manner were off-putting, and due to this regrettable experience, we have decided not to return.

Nothing special

By Andrew L |

Had a late lunch at Moxie's and it was okay. Was seated upstairs where it was relatively loud and the service was a bit slow (seemed like our waitress almost disappeared for a while). Had a burger which was good but nothing special and the fries that came with it were okay. Overall, would probably not return.
