Excellent Steakhouse at Hyatt Regency DFW

By ShiShiJoJo |

The restaurant is superb by any standards: food, service, ambiance. While you might leave a hotel restaurant for a standalone outside, this one is well worth it. The Lobster bisque had chucks of lobster and caviar. The scallops were fresh and tastefully prepared. Filet mignon could be cut with a fork. It is quite pricey, but every bit as good as the upper end steak and seafood restaurants. I would have eaten there again if I had the chance and time.

pleasant surprise

By Don M |

From extrem freindly greeting to out the door... very good. I have eaten at most of the TOP steakhouses in Dallas, and this is in that category. Small, excellent service, perfect steak. Small wine list, not mentioning what years... BUt I would go back and will. If staying at Grand Hyatt at DFW, take shuttle to the other Hyatt.. Regency.. very convienent.

Hidden gem

I highly recommend this steak house. It is a hidden gem with in the Hyatt hotel. It is a quaint place w/a great atmosphere

Best Steak Dinner!!

By Wendy H |

My husband and I had an overnight layover at the Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Hotel attached to terminal C. We had dinner at Mr. G's in the hotel and it was possibly the best dinner we have ever had. The steaks were done to perfection, the sides were incredible, and the service was extraordinary.

Lobster Mac & Cheese is so delicous!

By Brown E |

I ordered the lobster mac & cheese and a grilled chicken breast and my dinner was delightful! I ate it slow so I could savor the flavor. The chicken breast was well seasoned and it was the best I've ever had.

Good but Expensive

By NeedARest_Soon |

For a typical hotel restaurant, it was good. very good. quality steak and good wine. attentive service. but even for that - it was expensive, easily $10-15 more per entree than the top steak places in the country in the country: Chicago, NY, DC; so i have to temper expectations. the quality is good, but it is not consistent with the price.

Darrell's Place

By Barbara M |

What a beautifully elegant meal from start to finish! Darrell was our host and definitely the host with the most! He immediately asked us our names and conversed with us and left us smiling as he escorted us into the small, intimate dining room for a true adventure in the land of food! The chef sent us each a sample of their special items on the menu and each item that was served. We feasted on soup, salad, and the most heavenly scallops - and their bread - unbelievable! Homemade with cheese and almonds on each slice - and their desserts looked fabulous but we were too full to order! and then Darrell made sure to escort us out - and when we saw him at his podium over the course of our stay - there was always a smile!

Surprisingly wonderful.

By Mary Ellen C |

I went with our group to this restaurant with low expectations being as it is a restaurant in an airport hotel. I was pleasantly surprised! This restaurant was remarkable. The atmosphere was that of an old English library and the service was superb. The best part was the wonderful kind British host who is your guide into the restaurant. He went above and beyond to make our entry and exit an experience in itself. The food was excellent. I highly recommend this. It's worth a trip even if you are not staying at the airport Hyatt Regency, it's worth the trip.

Delicious Doesn't do it Justice

By Peggy W |

One would not expect such a lovely restaurant with some of the best food we have eaten in a hotel. Everything we ordered was perfection. The lobster bisque was perfect, not ruined by too much sherry or too fishy. The steaks melt in your mouth, you can cut them with a fork. The sauces are decadent. the cocktails were expertly made and not 'hot' from too much alcohol. The ambiance is rich, comfortable with that over stuffed feel. Lighting is low, the room is small with limited seating so I suggest reservations. It was not open on the weekends. We would return to DFW just for Mr. G's.

Excellent seafood!

By Gary B |

Service was good - food was good - concierge was so accommodating! Really enjoyed the food. Typically 'hotel overpriced' but that is to be expected. I would definitely eat there again!

A surprise in the Hyatt Regency at DFW

By Cookinfool |

After a long onsite meeting at the Hyatt Regency at DFW, we wandered into the lobby. I wasn't looking forward to a hotel meal, but we were too tired to travel anywhere. Out of the corner of my eye, off to the side of the lobby, I saw a sign for Mr. G's. We walked up and were greeted by a kind Englishman, who with all of the 'proper-ness' of Mary Poppins, he welcomed us graciously and showed us to our table. When we walked in we were transformed. We definitely did not feel as if we were at the Hyatt, nor near the airport. We were in a beautiful old English library. It was late, so we were there with only a few other tables of patrons. The menu was a typical upscale steakhouse and then some. We had a fabulous meal. The service was impeccable. We asked our waiter how long he had worked at the restaurant - it was over 20 years. Our maitre d', almost 30 years! This was a hidden gem that I will seek out next time I stay in Dallas or am passing through DFW airport. It was literally a 5 minute bus ride (if that) from the terminal to the hotel and restaurant.

Great brunch buffet

By Seat 13C |

Great breakfast/brunch buffet, nice selection of fresh food, lots of fruit. They can also make eggs the way you want them. Friendly service.

Great food in a small package.

By Chet F |

Spent several days in the DFW Hyatt for a business conference and Mr. G's was the highlight of the stay. The staff were very pleasant and the food was excellent. I had the filet mignon with foie gras and it was extremely tender and cooked exactly as ordered. I would definitely eat here again.

Expensive a worth every penny!!!'

By rockydogz1 |

This is the place to go when you truly want something exceptionally special. The free appetizer is incredible. I had the Seabass and it was one of the top five meals I've had in my lifetime. This is a place with impeccable service and attention to detail. I believe this restaurant is good for couples and high-level business meetings. Would not recommend it for families.

What a delightful discovery

By drcody775 |

Who would have ever thought that one would find a five star restaurant in an airplane terminal....That's exactly what we found at Mr. G's. We had waitpersons from five different countries and each one of them were enthusiastic about their profession.....The lobster bisque was the best we've ever had and could have been a meal by itself....The lamb chops were as good as you''ll ever experience...I can't say enough about this place...

Continues to have outstanding food! A must if you are stopping over at DFW airport!

By Nancy H |

I am starting to travel in and out of the DFW airport instead of LAX and am staying at the Hyatt where this restaurant is located. You should call ahead and make reservations to be sure you can get in. I also had the same experience of a previous reviewer and could not get in at 6 pm as I am an early eater...so I had to wait until 8:30 pm. It was worth it . Had the Filet with the house sauce but also ordered the garlic & onion sauce on the side. The meat was cooked to perfection, delicious! The bread was lovely...not sure what it was...had a cheese topping. I had a couple lovely margaritas too. The desert...what can I say...it was an oreo cheesecake....really yummy!! I will continue to go back there and make reservations so i can get in earlier!! Atmosphere was nice, staff were attentive and nice. Hats off to the chef!!! Agree with others...it is a bit pricy too.

Fantastic - Kobe steaks available.

By Pat G |

Very first impression is the older gentleman that reserves your table. A true Gentleman and the only reason I book a table. Glad I did - you really do need to get a reservation. He even came in to check on my and my meal. Shrimp cocktail was great with the fresh grated horseradish on the side. Kobe steak was perfect - more rare than I generally cook, but it cut as smooth as could be. Service is fast and attentive even with a full house. I will eat here again. Who ever really expects a 5 star steak house at a Hyatt ? Well - here is one you have to try.

Who do you get your meat from?

By SamAdamsGhost |

A $46 ribeye should be very good to great. The one I got was cooked medium rare, but that was the only thing done right. It was average - not tender at all. The quality of the meat was sub par. I'm from Chicago and a 100K traveler. I know a great steak when I have one (the most recent at Little Rhein Steakhouse in San Antonio). Mr. G's should be more discerning with the meat it "stakes" it reputation on!

Wonderful Restaurant!

By CMW415 |

I would like to start by saying we will never forget the experience we had at Mr. G's and it all started with a charming gentleman named "Darryl" who seated us. He saved a romantic corner table just for us. He was wonderful and treated us so very well. I would go back just to see him. He makes this restaurant what it is. The atmosphere in this restauraunt is very cozy, dark and warm. Sinatra played the entire time. The food is outstanding and the service was superb. What a great experience all the way round. Can't say enough about it.

Virtually Perfect!

By Matthew T A |

It starts off by encountering Darrel.........a totally charming host.........very accommodating and polite and so entertaining. You will love being pampered.........all the staff are super polite and genuinely like serving people. Lobster bisque and caesar salad perfect..........creme brulee perfect.....and it's the little things.......their bread is so tasty and they give you a little sample of delicious filet and shrimp.........how many places give you a little sample of their wonderful food? The small study or library atmosphere is just wonderful......and we actually ate there TWO nights in a row........I don't think we've ever gone to the same fine dining option two nights in a row before..........so that really says something.

Seafood!

By Claudia G |

I don't eat red meat but was looking for good food and wanted something more than just a cafe. So came to this steak place :) They gave me a little starter of hg a scallop and a bit of fillet mignon that was nice. I had the lobster bisque and the scallops and they were just perfect. I had somehow forgotten that in the USA everything is maximized, so I think I had a full lobster in the bisque and the scallops were gigantic and came with a very tasty risotto and they smelled so good! I don't know much about the wines from this region, so I asked the staff to pick a red for me and it was a very good choice. I only wanted a dessert if it was something special and they just have the standard stuff, so the waiter got me yum strawberries dipped in chocolate. I think the place is a bit pricey and specially here where you HAVE to leave a massive 15 or 20% tip on top of the bill. I find that frustrating in general about the USA. The staff was warm and friendly, I had a good chat with them about travels, home (Australia), wines and other bits. It felt good. If I ever come back to Dallas and this hotel (Hyatt regency), I will dine at this restaurant again.

Celebration dinner

By 56sherylw |

Had a business dinner here to celebrate the oncoming season. Was better than expected and I had expected a lot! The lobster bisque was creamy, smooth and rich. Had the scallops and cooked just right. Atmosphere was quiet elegance, service was attentive, but not overbearing. Great evening!

Expensive for what you get

By jthwrh |

Had the blue cheese wedge and had to ask for additional dressing. The blue cheese wedge was a heftier portion and less expensive, the night before in the sports bar next door. Had the ribeye and jalapeno potatoes. The ribeye was FULL of gristle. Good for you if u enjoy eating but not for me. I did not taste any spice to the jalapeno potatoes. Did not participate in dessert as i found the portions to be extremel small and highly priced. I did sample a friends oreo cheesecake and it was just ok. It is very convenient if u dont want to travel out of the hotel but other than that just ok.

You're Missing Out

By Garth A |

Darrell is nothing short of amazing. The atmosphere was relaxing and was able to really enjoy the evening catching up with an old friend in town on a short layover. The food has been the best I've ever had. Steak, bison and shrimp were mouth watering good. Many have not heard of it and everyone needs to try it.

Simply fabulous

By GoGo2SlowGo |

This is a very unusual restaurant. Many hotel restaurants are really just a nice place for a breakfast buffet or maybe a decent lunch. The Hyatt Regency at DFW has that covered as well with several places to eat. Mr. G's is a very intimate restaurant. I counted 48 seats. The first impression you get is that you are in a private library of a rich English Lord who has invited you to his home. You are greeted by an impeccably mannered gentle man with an English accent although upon closer inspection and discussion - it's really from down under. He is your first impression and he makes a really good one. I should mention that you should plan on making reservations here because there are only so many tables. You will get one of several waiters. Did I mention that everyone is wearing a tux? I felt completely out of place in pocket pants and a shirt but they made me feel comfortable immediately. Any of the servers could likely be a Maître d'hôtel in a different restaurant. Their commitment to service is amazing. Your water or bread or whatever is monitored and if there is something to be refilled or replaced - you don't ask - it's just done. It's a white tablecloth restaurant and you feel like you're going to enjoy this meal. The menu has a very nice selection of steaks and seafood. I have tried the steaks repeatedly and never had a bad meal. However, the chef offered a seafood specialty that I tried that was excellent. It was fresh grouper, scallops and shrimp prepared in a very tasty sauce over a bed of wilted spinach with vegetables. My wife had her favorite which is a filet with a large crabmeat cake. It's sort of a surf and turf without the lobster. Their steaks all appear to be prime and hers was very tender. So, between the excellent service, the warm decor and the superb meal, we need to come back. If you are not staying overnight in the hotel, they will validate parking for you so you can dine and return to somewhere in the metroplex. I have friends who have asked me about vegan and gluten free options at the menu so I did ask when I was last there. The Chefs are very creative and very well versed in adapting the menu to suite the guest’s needs. I would suggest you call ahead and ask about your special needs. The sauces are gluten free (when selecting for a steak) and you probably can get a gluten free sauce for any seafood option since butter seems to go with all seafood options. They do have gluten free breads available – however in limited selection - so I would call ahead and tell them that you might need a few more available for your party. For vegetarian – yes; strict vegan could be rather difficult with the use of egg, milk products, and stocks. However, I have met a few of the great F&B people and my suggestion is that you call them ahead and express your needs and see what they might be able to do. Their chefs are amazing and if it's something they can do for you - they clearly would do it. These are very creative and talented people so I would call and find out. Enjoy your meal!!

A Steak that melted in my mouth.

By GeoW5 |

Wow! I was diverted into Dallas for the evening as AA aircraft had maintenance issues. So Dallas was as far as I was going to make it. Don’t know why, but I was in the mood for a steak. I stayed at the Hyatt Regency at the airport. The front desk clerk recommended the resturant and away I went. Small quaint steakhouse environment. That is wood paneling, deep colored leather in high backed booths, and proper dinnerware setup. I had three waiters. There’s no telling who was in charge because they were excellent. They didn’t push anything but took care of my every need. I saw the chefs and asked them what steak to get. After some light talk they cooked me a sample of the 28 day aged Ribeye with peppercorn sauce. That sold it. I had that with spinach, and Syrah red wine from Argentinia. The wine complimented the meal nicely. Ok, I should have started with the steak. It melted in my mouth. The temperature was medium rare. I always worry with ribeyes cooking them cooler than medium. But, this steak had very little fat on the outside but was tasty. The spinach was a nice choice for me. If you stay here, treat yourself to a nice meal!

Expensive but worth it

By mtl18 |

First, I wasn't as impressed with the maître de (spelling?) as many people on tripadvisor were. The guy actually had the nerve to ask if we had looked at the menu prices before he sat us! There were 3 tables with people eating! Get over yourself! Food was excellent. Service was also very good. We had a bottle of Dom Perignon, shrimp cocktail, creole shrimp/crab cake appetizer, beef tenderloin, grilled lobster tail, and 2 bacon potatoes- Yummy! Check was almost $600 including tip for 2 people. I wonder what the old maître de thinks now! Did we look at the menu prices before he would seat us? Really?

Typical Steakhouse with atypical noise level

By Su25bag |

Very small portions. Very little adornment on the dishes. This is not fancy food. The menu is limited. Having said all of that, the steaks and lobster were tasty. In fact all of the food was good. Service was a bit slow.

Wonderful dinner with my wife in an intimate supper club

By Larry M |

Mr. G's is an "intimate 14 table supper club" in the DFW Airport Hyatt Regency. If you are near the airport and looking for a nice meal, this is a good choice. First, the environment is wonderful, a classic wood panel and library styled room with several small tables and banquets. The wait staff is very attentive without being overbearing. They had what appeared to be a nice wine list as well as access to the adjoining bar. While the appetizers all looked good, we have a passion for onion soups, so instead we both chose the Baked Texas Sweet Onion soup. It had a very nice beef stock, lots of well cooked onions and a nice toasted crouton with melted gruyere. A very nice version. For our entrees, my wife selected the "All natural fire roasted Sonoma Lamb Chops" served with a chili mint & cilantro chimichurri sauce, while I had the "8 oz prime cut Angus Beef Tenderloin Filet" with a classic béarnaise sauce. While the menu specified a choice of Jalapeno Bacon Potatoes or Brazos White Cheddar Potato Gratin, and a vegetable skewer, we weren't offered a choice. We had a very stiff whipped potatoes that were pretty basic. The lamb was superb. There were 3 nice, plump, medium-rare chops. My wife loves lamb she said it was quite possibly the best cops she had ever had. My Filet was a tad short of mid-rare, but had been properly rested and still warm, so it was still not bloody. We had ordered a side of seasonal forest mushrooms, and between the mushrooms and the Béarnaise it was just perfect. The dessert cart featured seven of eight different treats, I had a Oreo Cheesecake and my wife had a Crème Brule. Again, both were wonderful. My cheesecake was better here than the one I had at the Cheesecake Factory the previous night. Overall, a very nice, intimate, dining experience reminiscent of a supper club seen only in films.

What a total gem 💎

By 1happycamper24 |

I almost don't want to share. I'll keep it simple. They treat you like royalty. Old school top notch service. Had an amazing filet and more seared foie gras than I could eat. Absolutely awesome. And not even very expensive! Reservation required. Use open table.

Mr Bond meats Dallas's best

By Andrew2209 |

Lovely restaurant in a pretty average airport hotel. Sinatra mixes nicely in a restaurant which can only be described as an old school gentleman's library retreat. Menu is fresh blend of sea and New York strip and the quality is superb. I requested a wine not on the menu and was quickly and efficiently accommodated with a fine and tasty Malbec. Attentive service. I can only recommend a visit into the airport zone. I was a lone star on my visit but I could only suggest that you take the wife or girlfriend for a romantic interlude. Make the effort and dress up.

One of my favorite restaurants in Dallas!!

By TheAviator2 |

This is a truly special restaurant! It's a very small, intimate place that dines and feels like a Club room rather than a restaurant. Service is impeccable and there are a lot of very unique dishes and things you can try if you're feeling adventurous. You would NEVER expect to find this restaurant in the Hyatt Regency DFW! I have visited from time-to-time for about 13 years now and always enjoy each meal! It's a little pricey, but oh so worth it!

A Hidden Treasure of a Restaurant.

By GoGo2SlowGo |

Mr. G's might be one of the best kept secrets in the area! This is a very intimate dining area that once was reserved by the original owner of the hotel many years ago. They have obviously remodeled but found a way to preserve the space and create a unique dining experience within the Hyatt Regency DFW hotel. We were greeted by a gentleman who seemed to be straight out of Downton Abbey. He admitted that he's a Scot and comes from South Africa, but his manners and hospitality manner were exceptional. Then, the staff take over and continue the premium level of service. The ambience of the intimate dining room was reminiscent of being in a private drawing room in someone's estate. The food was terrific - not a gigantic menu - but plenty to choose from. The meal presentation, food amount, food quality and taste were exceptional. The have a very nice selection of wine both by the glass and by the bottle. It is a “white tablecloth” experience but you can come in casual clothes or dress up. It is a bit on the expensive side, but you definitely are receiving a premium meal and premium service, so the price is more than fair. This is a very small dining room, so reservations are a must. We found the entire experience to be memorable with all of the wait staff having a high level of professionalism and hospitality. There are plenty of things on the menu that we have not tried so we will be coming back!

A fun 'Night Out' at the DFW Airport

By Like2cruz |

We had an overnight layover at the Grand Hyatt DFW on our way to Hawaii, and based on the great reviews we decided to give Mister G's a go as we had plenty of time for a leisurely meal. Wow - are we so glad we went here! As others had said, it's not the typical hotel restaurant - this is a top quality steakhouse you would expect to find in a ritzy downtown location. Mister G's has a masculine, elegant study or library-like feel to it with its subdued lighting, floor to ceiling book shelves, booths and tables, and lightly playing Frank Sinatra music -and with only 14 tables, it's quite a classy place. At DFW there are two Hyatt hotels: Mister G's is at the Hyatt Regency, while the other hotel is the Grand Hyatt where we were staying. No worries though about getting between the two hotels, as Hyatt has a complimentary shuttle that will take you there in mere minutes. When we arrived at Mister G's, we walked down the private-feeling hallway, just off the lobby and lounge area, where were formally greeted by Darrell, a tuxedo clad older gentlemen 'Doorman', who had been there some 25 years greeting guests. Darrell established the tone for the evening with his proper and formal manner, and we knew we were in for a treat before we had even sat down. Darrell escorted us to a nice booth marked " reserved", as we had made reservations for 6:45pm. We chatted for a few moments and were introduced to our wait staff. Since it's an intimate restaurant, we had our primary waiter and assistant, yet all of the staff interacted wth us at some point during our two hour dinner. Our water glasses were constantly filled, and the service from all was outstanding. We did not have blazers with us, but wore nice polo shirts and tan pants, and did not feel out of place, although you could certainly wear a blazer if you like; business casual would be my recommendation, although there were a couple guys dressed in T-shirts which I thought was a bit tacky for this nice of a restaurant. (I guess being at the airport makes it a bit less dressy with people in transit). As we were reviewing the menu, we were presented with delicious bread, water, and a complimentary amuze bouche, which was a tiny piece of filet and scallop. We had two appetizers which we shared: a HUGE chilled shrimp cocktail, which was attractively served in an oversized martini. It was only three shrimp, but they were enormous! My partner had the crab cake and shrimp creole which we also divided, and loved both dishes. We split a huge Caesar Salad before going on to our main course of 16 oz ribeye and NY strip steak. The salad even split between us was large and more than enough. Both steaks were served with mashed potatoes and bacon pieces, a grilled vegetable skewer and asparagus. The steaks were deliciously seasoned, and HOT, which is not always the case, even in other fine dining establishments. Mister G's offers many wine options by the glass or bottle. I had a glass of Cakebread Chardonnay with my appetizer, and we shared a nice bottle of Deerfield Cabernet with dinner. While we normally have dessert, (and the dessert trolley looked yummy), we were much too full to partake. With that our waiters still presented us with two chocolate-covered strawberries! We've both been to some very nice steakhouses, and would definitely recommend Mister G's when in the DFW area.

Don't Tell Anyone!

When you think twice about writing a review because people might learn about it and the restaurant might be full the next time you want to go, you know it's excellent.

Under Delivered

By VikingJake |

I will agree with the other reviews saying the Maitre D was really cool. It creates an allure, because you can't even get close, or see into the restaurant without getting past the Maitre D. The first night in the hotel I tried to get into the restaurant with two people. It was a little before 6:00 and he asked if we had a reservation which we did not. He said the soonest he could get two people in would be 8:30. That was disappointing, but increased the anticipation and desire to get in there the next night. The next night I was in as part of a group of 20. The dinning room is small, I heard on a regular night there are 14 tables. Although we had at least 3-4 servers helping our group, the service was slow. Drinks took a long time to come out, which is not unusual and I'm guessing they had to go out to the lobby bar. It took a long time to get our orders placed. There was about a ten minute difference between my soup and the person sitting next to me getting his. I will say the lobster bisque was very good. The entrees came out sporadically and mostly delivered to the wrong person. I can understand the staggered delivery since their kitchen is probably small, however the food was warm at best when it finally got to the correct person. If I come back to the hotel, I would probably give it another try with a smaller group

Top Notch

Food was great. Prices reasonable for level of service. Nothing less that 5 star service. Left happier than when I walked in.

Nice relaxing dining in Hyatt Regency at DFW

By RCUrb |

Who knew you could have a nice meal in the airport. The restaurant itself is small beautiful inside and the staff was ultra friendly. We were the last table of the night which I believe hurt our overall food outcome. I did enjoy the special which was a selection of game, the lobster bisque was outstanding. The only complaint I really have is that my wife's steak was overcooked and at $60 for a filet that should never happen. Turns out the waiter of ours was from Wichita Falls how funny. He was very nice and personable. I would return to give them another shot at perfection.

A just OK restaurant

By ClintPage |

Food was good if basic. Nothing special. Service was fine. It's one of the only options if you are stuck at this hotel.

Expensive – But Nice Place

By Brian H |

As mention below, this place is expensive and you are paying the premium for eating at this hotel restaurant. With that being said, it was a nice dining experience. The Baked Buffalo Mozzarella was a nice change on a traditional starter with nice size cuts of cheese and then some puff pastry baked on top. I followed this up with the Cattlemen’s Filet wrapped with jalapeno bacon and garlic mashed potatoes. The meat came out just perfect, medium rare and with a nice soft charred exterior. The flavor was fantastic. I also with another comment below, if this place was moved outside of the airport, it could be considered one of the best steak houses around. The atmosphere is “old school steak house” with dark woods, red colored seating and bookshelves around. If you are staying at the Hyatt Regency DFW airport or meeting a colleague who is passing through, then this would be the place to go. Just be ready for a $$$ tab.

Food with flair

A warm relaxing environment. Not to loud and enjoyed a flavorful steak and a glass of wine. Staff was very polite and food prep took about 20 minutes. Looking forward on returning again.

Nice small intimate atmosphere !! Everyone was great from Darryl to the bus people to the severs and chef. We're going back tonight as a matter of fact. Can't believe it's hidden away, glad it is though. Secrets are good and like I said I'm in my way back I. 29 minutes. Thank everyone

Surprising hidden find

By KenandMaxine B |

The restaurant is tucked away in the corner, away from the crowds of tourists and conventioneers. We were greeted by a charming Maitre d', Darrell, who promptly seated us. The atmosphere is classic upscale steakhouse, relaxed and quiet. We were not dressed for the occasion, as we were travelling and didn't expect to find such a place. The staff welcomed us and treated us very well despite our informal attire. The food was excellent, particularly the crab cakes and steaks. The food was served promptly and our drink glasses stayed full. Our Maitre d' came by twice to check on us and made two tired people smile and relax. We will go back when in the Dallas area.

pleasant, quiet atmosphere

By Norwalk01 |

On a business trip, we had the option to a few nice restaurants. Mr G'swas highly recommended for the excellent food they serve. So we try it. Indeed. Very fine cousine and a great Maitre d who knows everybody and everything. Spent about 2 quiet hours, not because it was a slow night, they was almost full house but because of the people and the service, all worked nice. Pricey? yes. it is fine cousine after all.

Mr. G's - The "G" Stands for GREAT!

By Bob K |

Mr. G's has a very good reputation in our area. But the thought of driving to a restaurant at DFW International Airport for dinner wasn't motivating me. I'm glad my wife twisted my arm. Mr G's is located in the Hyatt Regency Terminal C and easy to find. Parking wasn't a problem and our parking ticket was validated by the Hyatt in the lobby. As we approached Mr G's we were greeted by Darryl the Maitre'D. He exchanged pleasantries with us and showed us to our booth. The room is based on a 1930's Private Supper Club and has only 14 tables so it is intimate, and perfect for attentive, memorable service. Their wine list is small but packed with quality. My wife ordered a glass of Cakebread Sauvignon Blanc and I had a Redemption Zinfandel as we discussed the Food Menu. She started with a Maytag Blue Cheese Wedge Salad and I started with a House Ranch Salad. We were impressed with the freshness of the ingredients and the balance of dressings and greens. My entree was an 8oz Filet which was spectacular, while my wife enjoyed Scallops and Risotto. The service throughout our meal was seamless and professional. We finished with a slice of Chocolate Mousse Cake and the Best Creme Brulee we ever tasted. I kid you not we're still talking about how good it was. We are going back soon - Mr. G's made a believer out of me.

You smell good food from a distance!

By LyaMachado |

Beautiful small restaurant (14 tables) inside the Hyatt Regency DFW Aiport. Nice decoration which reminds of a 1938 gentleman’s study place.I was not that hungry so did not try the steaks but they look fantastic! My choice was the French Fois Gras and Pear Brulee and it was fantastic. Service is efficient. Wine list is decent and prices are OK. Good experience.

Elegant Library setting...

By Bornabrit |

This Restaurant was the best thing that was in the Hyatt Regency airport hotel. We hated the hotel but loved this restaurant. The dining room was extremely elegant and designed around a library type setting .The Maitre D was charming and colorful and added to the restaurants overall charm. Although a little expensive the food was excellent as was the service. Before and after our meal we were given complimentary hors d'oeuvres ( always a nice touch) For an appetizer we both had a Caesar salad ,then for our main entrees I ordered the scallops and my husband ordered the Filet Mignon with pepper mushroom sauce. If we were staying in Dallas ( in another hotel) we would go to this hotel ,just for this restaurant.

Like the old days

From the classic matradee Daryl to the red leather booths and book lined shelves a step back into how wonderful restaurants used to be. Tableside Cesar salad, wonderful filets and scrumptious scallops.

This is an airport restaurant?

By Gary S |

If someone had told me that one of my most memorable dining experiences would be at a hotel restaurant at the DFW airport, I would have suggested that they had spent a bit too much time in the hot Texas sun. On a recent business trip that had me staying at the Grand Hyatt at DFW, I used my inflight WiFi to learn about Mister G's restaurant at the companion Hyatt Regency at the airport. I made an online reservation for the only time available, 8:30 PM, and the moment I stepped off the jetway, I received a call from a gentleman with a British-sounding accent informing me that he would endeavor to get me seated at 8:30, but I might have to wait a few minutes longer. Was I really in Texas? Anyhow, the caller was Darrell Fergusson, the maitre d', who came to Dallas via South Africa, and is truly a gem in the world of the hospitality industry. He got me seated earlier, the meal was great, and the 1930's decor has one wondering whether they truly are at a airport Hyatt. Not to be missed, and I'll come back to Dallas just to eat here.

Iconic maitre d' and more!

By SamAdamsGhost |

The maitre d' is an icon. A classy gentleman with South Africa accent who enhances the Mr. G's experience. The rib eye was exceptional! Didn't care for the au gratin potatoes. The Onion soup was very good. Excellent service! This is an amazing gem in the Hyatt.

Great Ambience

By Landlock47 |

The ambience is wonderful as was the staff and food. The steaks were tender and tasty. So much variety to choose from, it was hard to decide but no choice would be bad.

This has been a good year for culinary surprises

By Don B |

Ordinarily I avoid chain hotel restaurants because while the standard is OK, the problem is that they are exactly that, Standard. On this occasion it was convenient to eat at Mister G's the convenience overcoming my normal reluctance. The welcome was effusive, the service attentive (actually almost intrusive), the food a great surprise and the value good. We ate salads and fish. The portions (as is case in the USA) we colossal, but the quality and taste great. I really enjoyed my caesar's salade and my combination of sea bass and sallops was tender, cooked to perfection and delicious The decor is classic clubman, a bit dark for my taste, but substantial Worth a journey out to DFW to enjoy

Great Food! Coolest Maitre D'

By Richard L |

An oasis in the middle of major hustle bustle. Top food, great private club like atmosphere, and the maitre d' comes right out of a mix of Downton Abbey and The Last Comic Standing. He is a delight!

Mr. G's had amazingly delicious food!!

By Brown E |

Mr. G's Steakhouse was truly an experience I will never forget. The staff gave me the most awesome experience I've ever received at any restaurant in all of my travels. Mr. G's Steakhouse is a true gem in Dallas. The ambiance is worth a visit. The shrimp creole crabcake is the best I've ever tasted. The filet was so tender, juicy, and flavorful. The lobster tail was so delicious and had so much flavor. The special sampler from the chef was a real treat. The strawberry marscapone tart dessert was so good. Appetizer - Creole Shrimp Crab Cake with Dijon Mustard Remoulade /Avocado Salad / Micro Greens Sample Tasting from the Chef - Mini Beef tenderloin filet with cognac mushroom sauce and grilled scallop citrus on bed of micro greens Main Course - Reef & Beef 10 oz Tropical Lobster Tail with Lemon Grass Chili Beurre Blanc 4 Oz Prime Angus Filet with Roasted Garlic & Balsamic Reduction Grilled vegetables Lobster Mac & Cheddar Chef Jose Gomez, Chef Luis Mendoza, Eliseo Fonseca, Willie Silva, Miguel Garcia and Josh are real STARS!!!!! They all made me feel like I was the only person in the restaurant. I've never had an experience like that. Overall, this was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend to Mr. G's. I plan to visit again during my future travel to Dallas.

Great Food and Service

By kimekstrom |

Excellent steak. Much better food than I would typically expect in a Hotel Restaurant. Atmosphere was a little old school, but that added to the charm. I was on a trip with co workers, and every one was very satisfied. Maybe a little pricey if not on on company travel

What a find!

By Nancy P |

Lived in Dallas area for 26 years. Ever drive to DFW just for dinner? Never, but I had Gold passport points expiring and this restaurant is owned by Hyatt and located in the Hyatt Regency DFW. My husband was skeptical but went along as I was treating. Seldom do I say everything was exceptional. The atmosphere was intimate and relaxing. Only 14 tables, reservations definitely recommended. The food was superb in quality and preparation. Yes, they do have a small free appetizer, but you should definitely order the lobster bisque. Smooth and creamy, the best I've ever had, with actual hunks of lobster at the bottom of the bowl. Our steaks were tender and cooked to perfection- medium rare. My husband commented that it was the hottest steak he's ever had. High praise coming from him! The wait staff was on the spot - more bread, bar service, water, check, whatever. They were very attentive. We will definitely be back and next time maybe I'll save room for dessert!

Good food

By Phil C |

A surprising place to have dinner. The hotel hides this good spot. Good food. Small place so seating is limited.

Jewel in the heart of DFW Hyatt Regency

By YoungTravelerTX |

Excellent beef and red snapper. Service was spot on and impeccable. Will definitely go back. Reservations recommended.

Worst dining experience ever

By Lili141 |

A large group of business associates made a reservation well in advance of a planned meeting in Dallas. We were quoted a fee of 110 dollars for a fixed price filler. I had a mediocre at best steak, some overcooked vegetables and a dessert I didn't eat. I had two glasses of overpriced wine. The bill came to a staggering 210 a piece. While some of us probably had more than the two glasses, others did not partake at all.The service was lack luster and our whole group was put out in a hallway rather than in the restaurant itself when there were more than enough empty tables to accommodate us. My advice Stay Away.

Fabulous meals at mr g. Hidden gem in Dallas for great steak. Service is impeccable. Wine list is tip top. Enjoyed a great Caesar, foie gras, and filet

HIdden treasure!

By Patty C |

Love the filet! Love the ribeye! Love the lobster bisque! Love the lobster! Love the bread and sample of filet and scallops! Love the service and atmosphere! Enough said!

this is a hidden gem

some of the nicest staff and food you can possibly have anywhere . we always look forward to seeing the staff and eating the great dishes

Surprise airport quality

By Eddy35 |

Take this restaurant out of DWF and it would fit right in with good steak restaurants in any city. The photo posted for this restaurant is incorrect. The photo is of a BBQ joint. Mister G's is a small but elegantly appointed restaurant with nice linen table cloths and table ware. Service is consistent with fine dining. I was attended to by three different gents, one of whiom had a pleasant English accent with impeccable manners. I had the special for the evening, game consisting of a bison filet, rack of venison and quail. The meat selections were cooked to order and delicious. The meal was ample, very good and the wine selection, while pricey, also is of quality. It is expensive. A meal can be made of small plates from the appetizers for a more modest cost.

group dinner was so-so

By kgems1 |

had a large business dinner here and the meal was so-so, slow service and mediocre food, many others at the dinner were also dissatisfied

Best maître d ever!

By Nicole B |

The restaurant was fully booked. I was staying at this hotel for a meeting and wanted to take a business partner to a nice dinner. The maître d started hustling.. Trying to move reservations around and find a slot for us. He worked extremely hard to get us in. This was one of the top 5 best meals I have ever had. We shared the tomato and goat cheese salad with a balsamic reduction - amazing!! Each of had the special which was a medley of grilled Chilean sea bass, scallops and prawns over wilted spinach and sautéed veggies. Cooked and seasoned perfectly! Service was outstanding! They serve as a team of about 4 service staff and service is elevated because they do this seamlessly. Extremely impressed as this was a lovely surprise in an airport hotel.

Mr. G's Is A+

By Stewart S |

By far the BEST food we have ever had! Absolutely superb in every way. The prices are reasonable for the large portions. We are grateful to Maitre D' Darrell Fergusson who made sure that all was perfect for us. He is a kind and caring man--so hard to find these days. We also thank our server, Brittany for her patience and caring. I recommend this restaurant highly!

Very nice business restaurant

By SteveSilverman |

I went here on a business dinner. It was a bit surprising as we were not staying at the airport but at a hotel 15 minutes from the airport. They provided us a space for our group of 15 people but there were other people sitting in the room. The food was excellent and the quality you would get a top rated Steakhouse. I had the Wagyu FIlet Mignon and it was tender and delicious.

Great ambiance...ok food and service

By lackey |

Walking into Mr. G's I felt this was a real find. The gentleman at the front desk was fantastic. He was very welcoming and even came in to check on us during our meal. Mr. G's has the feeling of an old school steakhouse and I thought the food was going to be incredible...especially after my lobster bisque which was fantastic. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal was average at best. Not a lot of flavor in my tomato, goat cheese and balsamic salad and my steak was slightly over done and not at all flavorful. To top it off the creme brulee was overly stiff/thick and inside it I found a quarter sized piece of some kind of wrapper. To top it off I was never offered coffee with my desert and they were out of port. What a shame Mr. G's didn't live up to it's ratings or expectations.

Best bet if you are hanging out at airport

By Ssc3201 |

Went with my boss who loves the steak here. I don’t eat steak so I had snapper which had great scallops and shrimp good snapper but the creamy white bland sauce on top was not great. The Caesar salad again bland no Parmesan shavings, no black pepper. The dessert for me was the star. Red velvet cheesecake.

Great lobster bisque

By vegasrugbyref |

First time visitor but not my last time. The lobster bisque was one of the best. The filet was very good too but slightly overcooked. However a very good restaurant if you are not in a rush. Located in C gates. Service was good and friendly.

Great steaks

By Briggsannah |

My wife, mother-in-law and I ate here on a layover in DFW and the food and wine we're ecpensive, but delicious. The Matre'd, Darryl, was a really nice and witty man and assisted the wait staff during our meal. We had a little issue with the temperature of the steaks, but in the end all was well. The bacon & jalapeno mashed potatoes were delicious as was the balsamic and basil oil salad. The presentation was artful too.

Unexpected, Classic Fine Dining in the DFW Hyatt Regency

By mysterioustraveling |

I normally spend my business week at the Grand Hyatt DFW, but this trip found myself at the Hyatt Regency. Dinner time on the first night with a friend put is in the hands of a delightful Host at Mr. G's. Dining is very classy here, the dining room elegant and well styled. Between us, we had a steak and a lamb dinner, both of which were delightful, tast, sized perfectly, and accompanied with excellent wine. Dessert was excellent. Our servers were excellent and professional. Without question, I will be returning to Mr. G's.

Experience Class Inside Hyatt Regency Hotel DFW Airport

By Dr. A. Luciano Stroia |

This is another place where they pull the table for you. The place spells class from the entrance to the very end of your visit with them. There is a South African gentleman that will will be your host most of the time, that only adds value to the place. The food, wine selection and service are all top notch. Their filet mignonette is one of the best I've had in a restaurant. The prices are what you should expect. Everybody there will try to make your visit as enjoyable as possible. To make the ambiance even better, the inside is decorated in the '30's style, mahogany library with lots of original books. It used to be very popular until the smoking ban was enforced. What a pity! A cigar would have been a great finisher for the evening.

Beautiful, creative, delicious food.

By Diana |

Our first time at Mister G's and we loved it. The food is beautiful, creative and delicious. It sounds great and it is. Wonderfully prepared and served. The service is laid back but professional. There are very few tables and that only adds to the intimate experience. A kind of old NYC dining club vibe. Special occasion? This is your place to make an impression!

Valentines Day w Hubby & Friends

By Page1977 |

We were greeted by a lovely gentleman with a long stemmed red rose and promptly seated. The venue is ‘ old world’ and wonderful. There are only 14 to 15 tables and it is yours for the evening. Be certain you make reservations! The food was outstanding including the bread, appetizer, salad, soup, main and dessert! We had crab cakes, lobster bisque, wedge salad, filet plus a special valentine day dessert. I only took a picture of dessert. : ( We will return SOON.

Expensive, slow, uninformed

By DoctorPoisson |

On our way back from Mexico had an overnight in Hyatt. Tired we settled on the restaurant in the Hyatt Regency. The waiter was cheerful and nice but clearly uninformed regarding the menu and, well food service in general. The place was mostly empty yet took forever to order and get food (>50 minutes). On top of it the food was average at best and expensive. We were paying 4 star prices for 3 star food and 2 star service. Maybe a fluke, but i will avoid in the future. Nice only gets you so far...

A Hidden Gem at DFW and Best Host!

By Caribbean99 |

We have stayed at the Hyatt Regency a number of times before and never knew there was an amazing steakhouse tucked away. We were warmly greeted by the kindest host, Darrell, who welcomed us and seated us quickly. He checked on us during the dinner and even brought our daughter a birthday gift. We will definitely be back and recommend a visit.

Great Steak House

By Kevin C |

I would not expect a steak house like this at an airport hotel. The steaks are prime grade and their is the standard range of alternatives, appetizers, sides and desserts. Prices are comparable to what you would get at a steakhouse not attached to an airport.

Unexpected Gem

By MannyG2000 |

You don't expect a top restaurant to be housed in an airport hotel, but Mr. G is just such a find. The interior is dark, very masculine - like a rich Texan's library with leather everywhere. There are only about 10 tables, so it has a very intimate feel. Service is elegant, polished. An old-style maitre d' greets and seats you, and is clearly a favorite of regular patrons. The food was as you would expect from a steakhouse, including lobster. It seemed to me that all the diners (and I) liked our food immensely. Expect to pay over $100 per head. Even if you have to come from downtown, Mr. G's is worth the trip.

Fantastic

By Brenton K |

Amazingly personable service from Darrell out front through to the waiters. Best lobster bisque I have had in along time and the steak was perfect.

Excellent meal and service!

By Lifesgoodinjboro |

A bit pricey but you do get top notch service and a cozy dining atmosphere. We had fabulous steaks, diver scallops and fish. We highly recommend this great restaurant and we will most definitely be back!

The only way to go

By Jonnie b |

Top notch Good food drinks great way to end a day. Upper end menu and prices but like anything in life better costs more

Wonderful food and serivce. Great for business dinners

By John B |

We held a quarterly business dinner and Mr G's exceeded expectations including atmosphere, food, service, and the maitre d'.

Amazing hidden gem at DFW!

By Rob G |

This is a little treasure tucked away in a nondescript business hotel next to an airport terminal. Once you go through the ornate carved door, you are transported to a magical world where you are treated like royalty. Darrell, the Maitre'd will entertain you with silly banter while escorting you to one of only 14 tables. Service from Eliseo was excellent and the food was delicious. The atmosphere is pure elegance, with tall leather-upholstered booths, crisp white tablecloths and staff in tuxedos. You will feel like royalty. Pricing is comparable to other high-end steakhouses and is not outrageous - you could have a nice dinner and a drink for $75 per person. It's well worth it - I can only describe the experience as "magical."

Swanky and Splendid!

By MongoBeans |

If you get the opportunity you need to have a meal here, preferably with one you love or are trying to impress (or both)! The food is exceptional and the service impeccable. Yes it's a bit pricey but most definitely worth it.

Best Filet Mignon ever!

By adreamvacation |

Lovely white tablecloth dimly lit and relaxing intimate restaurant. We both had the filet which was superb!! Service, food and atmosphere were excellent! Convenient for an overnight layover inside the Hyatt Regency within the DFW airport.

suprise in the hyatt

By Tom P |

i was very suprised to have a resturant of this quality in the Hyatt Regency. food was good and staff spot on. had the filet minon and was not disappointed.

Darrell greets you

By Rider123 |

This is my second visit to this fine dining quiet spot in the midst of DFW mania. Their is a most helpful chap at the door who sets the mood in his tux and red tie for this wood walled eatery. Steaks are great and avocado wedge is perfect. If you need quality food and service while laying over at DFW, this is the place.
