Mr. Sushi has lost its edge

By David T |

Having lived in Dallas for 32 years, Mr. Sushi has been our go to sushi restaurant for most of that time. Sushi restaurants here come and go, and we have tried many, if not most of them. Until recently Mr. Sushi had consistently better quality sushi and served more generous portions than its competitors. It has been said that "Nothing stays the same." Unfortunately that's the case with Mr. Sushi as the quality of food served, along with the size of the portions offered have deteriorated over the past six months to the point that we no longer dine there. Currently, there are better choices in Dallas for high quality sushi.

Best Toro In the City

By Rick R |

One of the few places where one can get a good sized portion of Toro regularly and at a reasonable price. Great staff.

Busy restaurant with good sushi.

By podrozniczka60 |

We ended up in Mr Sushi due to good TripAdvisor reviews and we were very satisfied. On a Saturday night this place was full of customers and filled with energy. The sushi was good quality and tasty and - as expected- quite a variety. The restaurant can be also entertaining. They have some great Japanese paraphernalia like statues and drums. Several times during our stay the waiters-turned-drummers gave mini concerts. It was pleasant and exciting dinner experience for us.

BEST SUSHI EVER

By Scott S |

BEST EVER! … seriously. Leo was amazing and this is a MUST if you care about having them best sushi in your life…::::::::::::

Good but average

By Bud56 |

Its a nice place, but nothing spectacular. Everyone was very nice and the food was good, but not great.

Authentic

By Bill H |

This restaurant was within walking distance of the Addison Best Western. We had two sushi veterans and two beginners. A very clean restaurant with a very friendly and helpful staff. We chose to sit at the sushi bar where we could observe the meals being prepared. The chefs were very courteous and were willing to answer questions and explain some of the dishes being prepared. The menu is extensive and the food is prepared to perfection. I would definitely recommend this sushi bar/restaurant to others.

Mother's Day Lunch

By Blas E |

The sushi is very good and the service is excellent. I enjoyed the Volcano Rolls and Spider Rolls. Ambience is nice and authentic. I highly recommend this place.

Fresh sushi

By Heidi C |

We sat at the sushi bar and made friends with the chef. We asked him to get creative and give us his favorite roll. He delivered and it was amazing.

Outstanding, fresh and made to order sushi

By Clinton F |

I visited after passing by and was very impressed. The atmosphere is great with a large sushi bar in the middle. I sat at the sushi bar where the chef took my order and made my order at that point. The quality of the fish was outstanding and the flavor was wonderful. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Good family atmosphere

By Mphbrown |

Very good sushi, not fancy, good service. I would return. We had young people with us in a group of 12 and they were very accomadating.

Sushi was good by Texas standards

By Dwayne S |

Service was excellent. Fish was fresh but limited compared to California & San Francisco standards.

Other sushi restaurants can't hold a chopstick to Mr. Sushi

By GhostWriterPerson |

When Mr. Sushi first opened, it was one of three sushi bars in the Dallas-area. There's a reason why it's survived 30 years when other restaurants fade away. I ate there just a few months after the doors opened. I didn't know how outstanding it was until I began eating sushi and sashimi at other restaurants. The freshness and variety of Mr. Sushi's offerings compete with even San Diego's best. For people with adventurous palate, Mr. Sushi is the place to go. The selection is amazing. You'll find a variety unavailable anywhere else. And it's fresh. It pricey, but worth it. I can't wait to return. Give it a try. You'll be hooked.

Really good sushi

By FromFortWorth |

I'm not a huge sushi fan but the wife is and this is what she wanted for her birthday. So a large group of us went this past Friday night. I mainly stuck with the gringo-esq California rolls and they were really really good. Several others in the party had other traditional sushi and they all seemed to enjoy it. I'm sure we'll be back soon. Also, the waitress Jennifer did a great job with our large party.

Hidden gem!!! Fabulous sushi!!!

By JPYarbrough |

My husband and I live close to Addison and eat here a few times a week! It does not look like much from the outside, but the sushi and service is phenomenal!! Such a local gem that is our go-to neighborhood spot. Not a fancy dining room, just very fresh fish and phenomenal rolls. Highly recommend!!!

Fresh. Fun toilets!

By Neuralatrix |

There are Japanese style bidets! Oh yea, and the sushi is good. I wish there were more udon options.

Great Sushi experience

By 93611 |

I have been to this restaurant a number of times recently and each time it has been excellent. The Addison Tower is especially good and the Dynamite Mussels.

My standby

By yourturntobuydinner |

I have been to many sushi restaurants in Dallas and without a doubt, Mr. Sushi is the best one. The fish is fresh, the portions are great, and the service is friendly. Prices are very reasonable.

Good lunch place

By Brian S |

Solid joint for Japanese lunch. The lunch specials are plentiful and fairly priced. Fresh food here, and attentive service. Enjoyed this.

Always good

By Idap_tx |

The sushi and service is always good at Mr. Sushi and whenever I'm in Addison, I try to go there at least once.

Excellent Value

By Steve L |

Very good lunch box special at reasonable price. Very busy restaurant with many return customers present. Close to hotels and easy to walk to.

Best sushi in town

By yourturntobuydinner |

I have eaten sushi all over the country and this restaurant is by far the best. The sushi chefs are great and you don't feel cheated because they give you a nice piece of fish instead of a little sliver.

Decent sushi, nice atmosphere

By TotallyMimi |

We went randomly and it was good but a little pricey for what you get. The atmosphere is fun and the guys behind the sushi bar were very friendly. They didn't rush us when it came close to closing time and other than the last call, we would have never known they closed after lunch.

Real Japanese ownership and real sushi

By onthemove777 |

This is the real deal with friendly Japanese behind sushi bar, serving etc... Very respectable classic Japanese style and sushi. Enjoyed yellow tail in ponzu sauce with jalapeños, Advacao and tuna roll, eel and tuna sushi, and some type of chicken kabob(appetizer)... All great with friendly and prompt service. Go!

Decent sushi experience

By NinaCa |

The 6 piece Salmon sashimi was delicious. So was the Healthy Box (grilled salmon bento box). Kinda weird to see broccoli & carrot in a bento box, but maybe it is because its part of the Healty Box.

best sushi in dallas

By Philip G |

Everything about this place is great. the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming and the sushi is always great and fresh; especially considering how far Dallas is from either ocean. The guys behind the sushi bar as always entertaining and very helpful with suggestions. The sake selection is always good.

Amazing food, wonderful service

By Camille K |

My husband and I just got finished eating here. This place was amazing. The service was impeccable and the guys making the sushi were entertains and friendly. Everything was fresh and the ginger dressing for the salad was the best I have ever had.

Pretty good but could be better

By Brittany S |

Loved the atmosphere it was very. I loved being able to the cooks make the sushi. The food service quick. The whole experience only lasted about 20 minutes though. The food tasted pretty good and were presented nicely. I just feel the food could have had more flavor though.

Absolutely awful

By Adiba M |

This was probably some of the worst sushi I have ever had. Everything was incredibly bland and the menu is very basic, with little to no variation in flavor or originality. The table had a cloth tablecloth but white butcher paper over it and the butcher paper was still dirty while we were seated and we had to clean it ourselves. Our waiter seemed constantly preoccupied with something else and we always felt rushed every time he walked over to us. He talked so fast that I never knew what he was saying. We ordered a couple of basic rolls that we usually always like and somehow this restaurant was not able to properly execute some basic rolls - nothing tasted fresh. We saw a special on the backboard for blue fin tuna and that was probably the only thing that tasted decent. I will not be returning here again as Dallas has a wide variety of incredible sushi restaurants that are far, far better and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone else.

One of the best sushi bars in dallas

By Neil-from-Dallas |

Been going to mr sushi for 20 plus years and it is still one of the best sushi places in dallas. mr sushi rolls are great

Oishi!!!

By Nick T |

Excellent fresh fish. They take deliveries at least 2x a week. Servers are all very professional and friendly. Have a seat at the sushi bar. I usually come here alone but once brought 6 friends and all enjoyed their sushi. Troy is an outstanding sushi chef - reward him with a bottle of beer!

Average Sushi

By Peter S |

Sushi is good but not great, restaurant is clean and tidy and looks like a Japanese restaurant. Service is quick and freindly. Cost is ok

Great place for a meeting

By bithead2k |

Our MeetUp group ends up here about once a month after the meeting. The atmosphere is quiet enough to have a table conversation. Everybody picks a few pieces and appetizers, and we just hang out for a while. The service is very nice to us for such an informal gathering, and the food is very good. A few people also order drinks, and those are poured with a heavy hand also.

Sushi Bar

By Damon D |

In Dallas on business. So what do I do when I need a place to eat I open up Tripadvisor and search for a local Sushi place. This place popped up and had some decent reviews so lets give it a go. I will say this, this place did not disappoint. Sushi quality was awesome. Sushi chef was interactive and talked with me. If I ever find myself in Dallas I will definitely come back to Mr. Sushi.

Mr. Sushi Rocks!

By Picker413 |

Damn good sushi! Fantastic service. Very reasonably priced. Wish I could take Mr. Sushi back home to Virginia with me!

Great Sushi and staff!

By toony67 |

Love this place. Sushi is always fresh and service always friendly. Reasonable prices and good atmosphere.

Mr. Sushi Knows Sushi

By Kelly C |

I like Mr. Sushi. I've been here a couple of times and it tops my chart for favorite sushi in Dallas. I like hot and spicy rolls and they have one mean hot roll with spicy mustard! Their salmon sashimi is really fresh and melted in my mouth.

Consistently good food.

By musicianeats |

I have been eating at Mr Sushi for 23 years. When I visit the Dallas area, I always stop in, not just for the sushi, but to see how the employees are. They have had the same people for 2 decades. The sushi is delicate, the rolls are inventive, and the sushi bar is a nice social hang. Stop in and check them out some time.

Light Lunch needs

By kevinkA4191BB |

First time here. Recommended by our son. Nice place, full bar. We split one of the Lunch specials. Short walk from our Hotel.

Alright but overpriced

By iamjessij |

We went here because someone said “hands down the best” but was disappointed a bit. The sushi was alright in terms of taste but they were in little portions compared to your normal sushi place. The check was way overpriced for 4 rolls. I didn’t get sick so I give it 3 stars.

Great Sushi!!

By Dolphin2030 |

We walked in the snow for this place. It has a wonderful places to sit and watch them make the sushi. Would love to go back and sample some of the drinks at the bar. I had the Addison tower and it was great. Loved the green tea ice cream!

Very Good Sushi

By thetravelguy55 |

The sushi, sashimi, and rolls were good. The tuna pieces were slightly dry, but the salmon was great. The service is a little slow, but overall a good place.

Great Japanese food.

By Allan I |

Wonderful sushi boat, but too big for us. Two Scottish guy's ordering a sushi boat for two in Japan is slightly different quantity of food in the US as in Japan, BELIEVE ME! But still very good food and the Japanese beer choice is good.

Amazing Sushi!!!

By BobBabooski |

Unassuming establishment in a strip mall with a cheesy name…do not be fooled! Mr Sushi is a legit experience!!! 3-4 older and skilled Itamae behind a wrap-around sushi bar create delicious sushi and rolls thoughtfully presented. Icy cold Asahi Super Dry on tap. Seating also includes tables and booths. Menu of nigiri, sashimi, and rolls with other apps, soups, and main dishes will not disappoint. Have been twice and will keep going back. $$$ pricey but well worth it. Delicious every time…enjoy!!!

Great sushi everytime

By wick1979 |

My girlfriend and I have eaten here many times. It is definately my go to sushi place. Driving past more popular places for this 100% of the time winner. Try the Japanese Snapper with lemon zest. Just outstanding. Good selection of sake, and always meet fun people ate the sushi bar.

Reminds me of home

By Ryan S |

Their tempura shrimp and teriyaki chicken is excellent. Growing up with Japanese friends as my second home, where I learned to eat with chopsticks, this restaurant reminds me of eating in their home. We're not much on sushi, but our friends say it is excellent here. Enjoy!

Pretend Japanese for Americans

By Kathy D |

The decorations are all "we're japanese" while looking nothing like a Japanese restaurant. Ditto the waitresses, all in kimono or yukata, but not speaking even a syllable of Japanese. The menu is a list of stereotypes of Japanese food, and even basic items like a simple grilled fish are absent. We ordered some basic items -- agedashi tofu, nigiri sushi and an ume-shiso maki, just to check the quality before committing to more. All of the dishes were off. The agedashi tofu was missing a basic component: katsuboshi. Our waitress later explained their customers don't like it, so they leave it out. The salmon and yellowish nigiri were not soft and buttery and tasting like a clean fresh fish; they actually had no taste. But it didn't matter because the wasabi overwhelmed them. The waitress explained that their customers like lots of wasabi and shoe -- that is, they don't actually want to taste fish. It's a pretend-Japanese -- and very successful too; apparently many people like the idea that they're eating something exotic, without actually doing so. So, be warned.

Take your TOOSHI to MR SUSHI!

By Hank512 |

Wow! This was an incredible dining experience! I was intimidated by the ordering process (which is common in sushi restaraunts) so I asked the sushi chef for reccomendations. What a winning idea ! The Japanese Snapper, sashimi style, was an amazing reccomendation. I was told it was a simple sweet fish that had been seasoned for me and i should NOT ADD SOY SAUCE! Perfect and delicious. Next up was the house roll , " Mr Sushi" shrimp tempura that was also a delight. Now i was just watching and witnessed the creation of a crab stuffed fresh jalepeno, tempura style. He made up a couple extra for me and let me try them. What a treat. But on my next visit I will be looking for the Ceviche! This was not found on the menu but it looked fantastic. Awesome friendly traditional staff and atmosphere. I will be back and I am bringing friends!

Enjoy

By George J |

Unfortunately we arrived there within 45 minutes of closing, but they greeted us promptly at the door and seated us. Service is very prompt and courteous. There's quite a selection of food available on the menu. Temperature, quantity and quality of food was just right. Pricing is very reasonable.

Great find

By Meredith H |

Best sushi I've had in a long time. This place is a hidden gem. The wait staff is excellent also. Very attentive and speedy. The gyoza is a great appetizer. Their teriyaki sauce is the best I've had in Texas. The tempura was fresh and delicious.

Our Favorite for Years

By bwannan |

I don't know why I haven't written a review for Mr. Sushi before this. We've been going there for years. My wife and I eat sushi usually once a week. Because we enjoy it so much, we tried several different places in Dallas and always found ourselves coming back to Mr. Sushi. The sushi is ALWAYS FRESH! The service is very friendly and prompt. Ben San is usually serving in the front part of the sushi bar and makes our visits pleasant. Most important of course is the food. We don't think you can beat it anywhere. Give it a try. You won't regret it.

The 1st and still one of the best

By Gail L |

Mr. Sushi was the first sushi restaurant in Dallas and was incredibly popular back in the day... But modernization came to Dallas and now we have a sushi restaurant on every corner... but many of them just don't measure up and when you go there and there are no or few other patrons you wonder "how fresh is my raw fish". Mr. Sushi delivers fresh, beautifully presented and delicious sushi and other Japanese specialties time and time again. It isn't the new modern "hipster" joint around for only a short while...or a flash in the pan like so many others. If you haven't tried it, you should. Whenever I'm in the area, I always try to plan at least a lunch there. The service is good, the food terrific and the prices are reasonable by Sushi Restaurant standards... It's one of my 'go to' places, you should try it.

Well Worth Finding

By TX2OBX |

Though not directly on the street, this place proved well worth tracking down. Went there for dinner with family and found the service and food impeccable. We had several sushi items, and the only complaint came from wife- not spicy enough- though they were perfect for rest of us. Yellowtail and tuna sashimi were so smooth and flavorful. Also had miso soup, as well as steak and tempura shrimp. Prices were not cheap, but comparable to other good sushi spots.

Fantastic sushi

By Ashleycunn |

Sat at the sushi bar. Did not order off the menu but let the chef serve us his selections. He did not disappoint. Service was great. Sushi was delicious. Everything was was flavorful and fresh. Some of the best sushi I have ever had.

Mostly-good sushi with good service

By mike81122 |

We liked most of the sushi we ordered. The sushi combos all had shrimp, which doesn't qualify as sushi to me and which is normally served as such in higher end sushi places. The salmon, tuna and eel were all good. The Hole in One roll was very good. The not so good - Volcano Roll with Salmon (not much flavor) and the green tea ice cream (again, not much flavor). It's kind of a generic but nice restaurant with decent service.

Tasty Sushi

By Allison M |

I sat at the sushi bar and had a combination of salmon sashimi and several interesting sushi creations (like the Addison Tower-- it is actually a tower of rice and tuna!). The fish was good and fresh-tasting, and seemed reasonably priced to me. I enjoyed the salmon sashimi especially, though the tuna (in rolls) was also good. The chefs and servers were friendly.

Authentic Sushi Restaurant

By ltakahashi |

If you're looking for that hip, techno music spot that happens to serve sushi then this is not the place. This is an authentic family owned restaurant with personable service and quality Japanese food. You almost feel like you are in Mr. Miyagi's house. The price is very reasonable also. Probably because you don't have to pay for that trendy upscale atmosphere.

Still a great place for sushi!

By K5GJ |

I had a client in from the Left Coast and he wanted Sushi... Mr. Sushi has been around for a long time and it's never failed to deliver! We had an assortment of rolls including the Spider, Spicy Tuna, and Rainbow. All very nice. Mr. Sushi is also a good value that didn't hurt my expense account much. Thanks!

Was good until they tried to sell me fake matcha ice cream.

By Stephen O |

I enjoyed 4/5 parts of my my. I would have left a 5 star review until something unfortunate happened. Read on for details. A little background first: I lived in Japan for 2 years, first as an exchange student with Japanese families and then on my own. When most my fellow Americans tell me they know a good sushi place I have to always take it with a grain of salt - and to be fair it's absolutely not their fault. That's just how I've become after so many mediocre sushi experiences in the US compared to what I learned from living in Japan. It sounds petty but it's just the truth. Also not all Japanese sushi chefs are good sushi chefs. Why? Because true sushi chefs train for YEARS under highly skilled professional sushi chefs who have literally devoted their lives to the skills of cutting, preparing, and keeping the best graded fish in the world fresh. But I digress. Let's talk about Mr. Sushi and tonight. I was really willing to give this place a fair shot after reading the reviews on here and hearing that they are A) run by Japanese chefs and B) "better than other sushi places in Dallas." But again, B) is still a big unknown to me going in. So first off I happened to get one of a few non Japanese sushi chefs behind the bar as the 4-5 other Japanese chefs were all completely busy with the Japanese customers. None of them were serving/talking to non Japanese customers. No big deal. I lived in Japan, I understand that comes from. Wasn't going to let it ruin my night. At least there was Japanese being spoken which is usually not the case in probably 85% or more of all sushi restaurants in America. The guy I had was super nice (David) and not a bad sushi chef all in his own right. My only gripes were that his fish was cut too thick and the rice was too firm (more of a complaint against the restaurant) but I was willing to let all that slide for the sake of enjoying this $70 meal with the least amount of buyers remorse afterwards possible. I didn't want to leave with a bad feeling. I really didn't. It was all going fine until they just had to ask me if I wanted desert... and in my sushi/sashimi/Sapporo stupor I said, "Sure, why not? What do you have?" Rum cake (because that sounds Japanese...), green tea ice cream, something else, they said. "Ok, I'll have the green tea ice cream! That's not inside mochi is it?" (Because some places don't tell you). "No? Ok good. I'll take that please." Let me pause to tell you, I am an avid fan of matcha/maccha ice cream. AVID FAN. Some might say enthusiast but really it's not hard to tell real matcha ice cream from fake matcha ice cream, or so Mr. Sushi thought... THEY HAD TO DO IT. They had to try to sell me fake matcha ice cream. Why, Mr. Sushi?? Nande sonna nisena maccha aisu uraretenno? Come on.. It was vanilla ice cream with straight up green food coloring. The color was all wrong. Dark green? What do you take me as? A typical American who wouldn't know the difference? Wow, thanks. There was no maccha taste whatsoever. It was vanilla with colored green. And to top it all off my sushi chef grabbed the owner sushi chef to come over to talk to me about it and HE TRIED TO PLAY IT OFF AS HIS OWNER GAVE HIM SOME BAD STUFF AND HE COMPLAINED! What? Then why sell it to me? Don't give me that. And you knew?! You already insulted me once by serving it to me, don't insult me again by telling me you knew and then blaming someone else. Come on, Mr. Sushi. And then he did what everyone caught in a bad place would do. He walked away in clear shame after lying to my face and trying to laugh it off with me. Oh no. Why did he have to go take my intelligence and shove it down my throat. Why. Like I said, I would have given this place 4-5 stars for effort (3.5 if being brutally honest about sushi quality, but maybe I just got a bad chef). But the dang owner had to lie to my face. That ruined the whole experience for me. Also guess what? The matcha ice cream was on the bill. So now you've insulted me 3 times. Serving it, lying about it, and then charging me for it. Honestly it was only $2 from but that wasn't the point. The OWNER saw I was clearly unhappy about it and did not offer to take it off. After he thought I and every other customer who orders the matcha ice could be taken for a fool. Shameful. Disrespectful. Hontou ni. As I write this review I wish I could go back and demand every penny that I spent from this place just because the owner tried to rip me off (a small amount but nonetheless rip me off). To everyone who has never had the pleasure of traveling to Japan and blowing hundreds of dollars at a real sushi establishment, please be warned. This place will not disappoint you. But just know that you are subscribing to mediocrity and being taken advantage of for your lack of expertise in Japanese cuisine. Oh yeah, and the Kara-Age was terrible. That's the only appetizer I ordered. Go to Japan. Kara-Age in Japan is the best fried chicken I've ever had in 25 years. Period. It's really incredible. Mr. Sushi's wasn't. Thanks for reading. Hope this will encourage them not to insult their customers and to not write off Americans as not knowing true quality. (The only way I was served the good fish in Japan was by being with Japanese friends and family. It's not racist to them, it's just the culture.) But yeah, I'm not surprised at how I was treated at Mr. Sushi. I should have told them I spoke Japanese when I walked in to try to get better service in but I didn't want to assume that even Japanese places in America subscribe to that cultural stereotype. You've all been warned. Thanks.

Excellent Sushi and Service!!

By Dr. W. Martin |

I was staying at Marriott right down the road and asked the front desk for a great sushi place and they recommended Mr. Sushi. The sushi was excellent and so was the service. The owner, asked how was everything and they thanked me for coming in. I also saw a family celebrating a birthday and they staff made a big deal about it. Next time I am in Dallas and staying in that area, I will go back. Thank you Mr. Sushi!! Bill

Very Impressed

By Derek N |

I visited a few times over my eight weeks in town, and each time I was thoroughly impressed. This is a serious sushi restaurant, steeped in Japanese tradition. From the decor to the welcome to the precise, expert preparation and presentation, Mr. Sushi delivers not just a meal but an experience. Thank you!

Quick service!

By Isabel |

We returned here for the 5th(?) time and have had quick service each time. Sushi always tastes great, atmosphere is welcoming. Happy hour is good for domestic beer. Sitting at the sushi bar is great. We did get charged for one extra beer than we ordered, so be sure to check your tab!

Good sushi

By Rich K |

Nice sushi place, good food, good service. Everything was fresh, clean location. We order a few rolls and appetizers, nothing was extra special to take it to a 5, solid sushi place and we would go back.

Great food. Friendly service.

By Chuckus1 |

I would recommend this for a family dinner, date or business gathering. The staff is friendly and the food is always fresh and delicious. Prices are reasonable.

Very fast, very fresh.

By Dusty B |

I visited tonight while on a business trip. I was greeted immediately and sat at the sushi bar. Unfortunately, I am shorter, so couldn't see as the sushi was prepared. The chef gave me a sushi menu right away and another server asked for my drink order right after. I ordered the Cajun roll (fried crawfish) and salmon sushi. The food came out right away and was very fresh and tasted great. I was also able to sit and chat with a local resident and learn more about the area. The only thing I would have changed is to be presented with a drink menu, as I wasn't sure what I wanted. Either way, I will definitely be back on my next trip.

Simply outstanding sushi......

By michaelwZ4913FX |

I love sushi and have eaten it many places, and Mr. Sushi was absolutely some of the best I have ever had. I sat at the bar and all the fish in front of me looked fresh and delicious. Both the sushi and sashimi I ordered was fresh and tasted great. I was impressed with the value as well, quite reasonably priced for the quality you recieve.

Old School Oriental Differential Service

By fitzmary |

First date and we ate in the bar. Had the excellent creamy yellow fin underbelly sashimi and shocked our lovely old school table server by ordering the spicy sea scallops (warm dish) atop California roll sushi ! Tasty. I have had better but will go back because it was so relaxing....we ate in the bar which was nice and quiet. Attentive and seamless service which we appreciated.

Celebrating

By DAL4154a |

Our sushi chef, David, is wonderful. He always makes special things for us that are not on the menu. We had been going to another restaurant for sushi and then a friend took us to Mr Sushi. We love it! We live in Addison, so it's also close and convenient! I highly recommend this restaurant! Their fish is very fresh! You won't be disappointed!

Late Night Life Saver

By redtechie79 |

Arrived at 9:20pm on a Saturday night after a concert and we were tired, hot and starving. We were not disappointed! Here, we found a very welcoming and friendly staff of a small, neighborhood sushi restaurant.... just our style. Delicious and fresh sushi with attentive service. Great rapport with our sushi chef. Be sure you try the Spider Roll! We will certainly go again.

Good tempora. Average quality.

Good tempora. Average quality.

Nice place

By mar |

I was looking for a place to eat sushi and sashimi around north Dallas and Denton. Mr. Sushi is a okay place, nothing to complaint but nothing really outstanding. It is a fair restaurant. I ordered the combo sushi and sashimi, 50 USD. It is more food than I usually have. Fishes seemed fresh, which is great. Nice place, safe, no surprises.

Pretty good

By Schultz79 |

I think their quality has gone done some over the past few years. Although it's still good, 2 years ago it was excellent.

Mr. Sushi best for lunch

By Gloria M |

Mr. Sushi is a great restaurant for lunch. Their specials are marvelous and nicely priced. My son and I meet there when ever our schedules allow us. In fact we were there December 29, 2015 for a special occasion I am retiring December 31, 2015. I have never had bad service.

fresh fresh fresh

By nicoCT |

Both the salmon and the tuna suhis were melting on the palate. Incredible freshness. Even if i was not impressed with the presentation by the cook, their taste was worth the visit. Sitting at the bar and watching the preparation of your plate is still a great experience, making difficult to stop ordering. Will go back for sure

Hands down the best sushi in Dallas!!!!

By RBT-OKC |

I have been to this place on and off for over 20 years and always a great experience. Regardless of my hotel location in the DFW area I make the drive to Mr. Sushi. Experienced Japanese staff makes this experience as authentic as being in Shinjuku. I continue to recommend Mr. Sushi to friends and business partners, all are grateful and have a wonderful experience.

Very good meal, very good service

By Don P |

This is a reliable sushi stop for many years. It has very good sushi served in a nice friendly ambiance. Great stop for families that have a person that wants something other than sushi as the other Japanese dishes are quite good, the Sukiyaki is very good..

Great Place!

By Chris M |

Went here for my wife's Birthday early on a Saturday night. Not too many people. Service was a little slow, but food was really good. Pricing wasn't to bad. At the end of the meal it was a great Birthday song by many of the staff! We will return!

Japanese Owners/Best in Town

By j0uette |

This is where Japanese baseball players come when they are in town, not to mention a legion of regulars who love the sushi and the friendly atmosphere.

Not fancy but always fresh!

By denise n |

I have been going here for 4 years and have never been disappointed. Sit at the sushi bar and get recommendations from the regulars, who are always there!

.we paid and left. No offer to comp the ticket.

By LORIB21 |

The food was terrible we had to leave and go buy another lunch the was edible. The sushi was mushy and the entree I got was terrible

Great place for excellent sushi.

By Steve H |

I've been visiting this one for years. It's high quality with a cozy atmosphere. The staff is friendly and courteous. I like it because I eat there alone and sit at the bar and don't feel isolated. Extremely high quality sushi. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Fun Place!

I had a mountain of sushi here my first night in Addison and really enjoyed it. I sat at the sushi bar and devoured my food after traveling and not eating since breakfast! The staff were very friendly, they server Asahi Black, and they have great souvenir shirts to buy (they say, "Get Your Tooshi to Mr. Sushi"). Yes, I bought a shirt.

Best sushi I've had in America

My boyfriend recently took me here in the hopes that I'd start eating more sushi. We ended up coming here twice that week!!! It's so good. My boyfriend and has family have been coming here for almost 20 years and even have their own chopsticks. Both times the sushi chef was amazing and offered advice on different things to try. I haven't had a roll here that I haven't loved. The rolls are the perfect size, the staff is all very friendly, everything is amazing. I now look forward to each time we go for sushi!

Corky name, great cuisine

I guess we stumbled upon this accidently. The girls wanted hibachi and sushi. Since they were hungry we settled for Mr Sushi and did it pay off. The suhsi quality was excellent!!:) The fish was fresh; that night we order salmon sashimi, carb roll, tuna sashimi and a veggie roll. The presentation was wonderful, I wanted to take a picture than eat it and the taste, very good. We also order a large pot of udon soup, noodles made fresh in the resturant. Very quiet to enjoy a night out. There were even samll kids and I'll tell you, one could be fooled because they were so well behaved. The two family with small kids seemed like regulars. One more plus, large selection of Japaneese beer;)

Sit at Sushi Bar! Salmon with Ponzu Sauce!!!

They serve a starter salad with fish, very good and light. I wasn't crazy about any of the rolls, the California roll had real crab and was good. 2 piece Salmon with the suggested Ponzu sauce was delicious. This was my 3rd time here and it was a great atmosphere with speedy service and good food! Sushi maker featured in pictured on website was the same that made our rolls! :)

Top notch, friendly, excellent sushi. Extremely hospitable. Reminded me of Japan. Sake was great as well.
