Finally, real barbecue in Brickell/downtown Miami

By Shelia G |

We have been waiting patiently for the place to open and due to Covid-19 there were delays. But, the time has arrived and it did not disappoint. We ordered the beef brisket, pulled pork, pulled smoked chicken, loaded baked potato salad, collard greens, Mama's slaw, seasoned fries, cupcake cornbread and bbq deviled eggs to share. They already sold out of the baby back ribs so hoping to have those next time. The brisket is perfection and it was so tender it melts in your mouth, the pulled pork was delicious and reminded me of home. The pulled chicken has a nice smokey flavor and the side dishes were great as well. We were given two different bbq sauces for the meats and one was more of the Carolina/Georgia sauce flavor with a little sweetness and the other was more of the Kentucky/Tennessee flavor with a vinegar base. I am originally from Kentucky so I grew up on bbq and have waited for this place to open. I can tell you they do not disappoint and it is obvious why they have won over 200 awards nationally and are inducted into the BBQ Hall of Fame. They have indoor and outdoor dining and offer take out. This is now my new favorite spot- look for me, I might as well camp out here LOL.

Best BBQ in Gatlinburg

They opened two weeks ago. Best BBQ we have eaten, we shared a three meat sampler platter with pulled pork, brisket and ribs. Ate the meat baked it was so good. Hab peach bbq beans and cole slaw and corn bread. Was a fabulous lunch choice and we will return on our next visit.

Real Deal BBQ on Brickell

Been waiting for this gem to open since they started working on the space. Finally the smell of fire, smoke and meats is in the air. Stopped in for a look and to pick up a menu and was blown away by the space inside. A sexy bar sporting craft beers on tap and many “brown liquors” to complement the barbecue. I am a purist and loved the dry rubbed smokey deliciousness they offered. Pitmasters also had a variety of different wet sauces for those who like it a little more sticky and sweet. My personal favorites were the smoked chicken wings and the beef brisket. I was shocked when Anthony the Pitmaster/Owner came and asked me if I wanted my brisket carved from the leaner or fattier part. Totally cool, many thanks Anthony!! The Fixins aka sides were also outstanding. I had the baked BBQ beans. The beans had peaches and pimentos and lots of meaty bits. The “loaded baked potato salad” was just that. Chilled red potatoes with loads of bacon, cheese, chives sour cream and along with some of Myrons spice blends. Collard Greens were smoky with just the right vinegary tang. Needless to say the experience was over the top. Well done!! The portions were definitely filling and fairly priced. I look forward to going back. The next time I will save some room to try the desserts. Banana pudding beware, I am coming for you and those juicy ribs too. Welcome to the neighborhood Myron Mixon Pitmaster BBQ.

Going straight downhill

By Bret J |

I really liked this place when it opened. Good food, good bartender, decent service. Has been straight downhill from there. Lost best bartender to Trulucks, Food has become iffy, and way overpriced. Had lunch there for two today. Waiter outside doesn't speak English, and very slow. Wine that was $50 on wine menu, was $58 a bottle. Restaurant also does not highlight 18% service charge, which means many over tip. Will not be coming back. Now destine to become fifth or sixth place that has failed in same location over past 7-8 years. Management seems to have not have learned, that you can shear a sheep many times, you can only skin it once. Never going back.

DONT WAIST YOUR TIME OR MONEY

Service was fine, I didn’t have an issue. Food was just bad. I heard from a relative, which had seen a TV report on this place. Let me tell you one thing, I have been to Houston TX a couple of times and there you get the real thing. From 1 to 10 this is how I rate what we ate today: - Brisket - 2 (it was a joke, just TERRIBLE) - BBQ Ribs - 4 - it tasted like smoked ham rather than baby back ribs - BBQ sauce - 1 - just bad - Cole slaw - 1 - bad Trust me I normally don’t provide such a bad review...but this place was a joke...sorry DONT WAIST YOUR TIME OR MONEY

Ordered for takeout and was the best bbq I have had since my wife and I were in KY! You must order the pulled pork and beef brisket. Ya don't even need to have any teeth, as it will just melt in your mouth! Want a big surprise... order the deviled eggs for appetizer... your tongue will slap your brain it's so good!!! Has a short rib surprise underneath! Next time I have to try the ribs and bet it's amazing!

I'm been blessed to travel around the world and some extraordinary foods. I'm in Miami on business and happen upon Nr. Mixon restaurant. Of course with his reputation and credentials had to try it, WAS NOT, disappointed. Sometimes you need food that speaks to your soul. He hit the spot.

Mmm Mmm Good!

My husband and cousin absolutely love love the ribs at the Pit Master. You grab the rib and meat falls of the bone. Side dishes were pretty tasty too, but I thought the greens were too salty for my taste. Great service. Nice people.

Very good BBQ at a fair price.

Very good BBQ at a fair price. My family ate here for dinner during a recent trip. My pulled pork and brisket were fantastic and very well cooked. I enjoyed my peach baked beans and loaded potato salad. May daughter loved the chicken and Mac and cheese. The three TV’s on the wall helped the atmosphere. We will visit on our next trip to Miami.
