Wanted some pizza so found this place while walked down this street. The pizza was good. The service could have been better.

The place is small and dirty looking, the owner is gruff and borderline rude, but the guy who makes the pizza is super nice and their upside down "red top" pizza is the best I've ever had. The sauce is really good and the crust is very tasty. Decent size slices too. When they don't have the red top available I walk around the corner to Top Tomato instead. I've tried the pepperoni and the cheese but both are too greasy for my liking.

Good reviews brought me here. Upon entering, advised them my first time and asked for menu. Directed to step on down, on the right, near the tables. Finally figured out the disguised black pamphlets in a small bucket on top a counter were menus. Quite an extensive menu. After sitting at a table for awhile, I figured out that patrons must order at the counter. Thick New York accent, but very friendly cook. Sausage roll good, but crust a bit tough to cut with plastic fork. BBQ Chicken pizza slice was excellent, great flavor and crust. Glad I went to this great little dive, but not a favorite.

Great NY pizza. You can stop in for a quick bite with no hassle. A few tables available inside. The staff was great!

I have only had their pizza, but it was very good. Thin crust, big pepperoni, large slices. I would recommend this as take-out though, as the atmosphere is nothing to talk about. Right in Center City, just a few blocks from the convention center. I will definitely try again next time I'm back in Philly.

This pizza was so good! Both parents and children loved it! I generally like a thicker crust, but the thin crust here was good!I recommend stopping in!

Across the street from Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia is a small pizza shop. They have a few tables and chairs. The pizza is more for take out or for eating while you are walking in Philadelphia. Not much atmosphere. Personally I prefer thin crust pizza and they did it to my liking there. They had several out that you could choose slices from and that is what I like to do - they had unique things such as bar-b-que chicken pizza, and others. They also had a unique creation which almost looked like it was a thick crust pizza but it was a thing crust pizza with a mound of toppings - protein, veggies and cheese. I got one of these and it was great !!!! and one slice was more than enough. They also had several unique creations one was a breaded chicken tender with cheese rolled in an elongated crust and served with red sauce. This was different and good. If I am in the neighborhood I would go back again for the thin crust pizza creation and see if they have any more unique things. It is not a place with atmosphere to sit down and enjoy pizza nor would it be a place to take a first date. But great portable pizza.

We stopped in here for a slice on the walk back to our apartment stay. The place looks like if fell out of Brooklyn and I had to try a slice. Daughter had a Stromboli and I had a slice of cheese pizza. The food was good, heated while we waited and over all pretty tasty. We would visit again if in the neighborhood. I think it was around $12 for the two items with no drinks as we took it to go.

One of our favourite spots in Philly to grab a slice or 2! NYPD rivals anything you can actually get in NYC!

the fake new york decor is about as mediocre as the pizza.

Me & my bro had a slice of chicken bbq & a chicken buffalo pizza near the Wendy's. So flavorful in every bite.

I am originally from NY, so I'm picky with pizza. While visiting someone in the hospital, my brother and I had lunch at NYPD pizza. Couldn't resist as my brother is NYPD lol...the pizza is wonderful. It's literally just a small pizzeria as you would expect find in a city. I had a square slice and it was heavenly. The sauce was delicious and the crust was not too thick as sometimes happens and all you taste Is bread. This was just the right amount of thickness and crispy crust. We also tasted regular pie and it was also just like you would get in NY. The line was out the door during lunch hour with a lot of hospital staff, so obviously the locals know a good thing. The owner of this establishment was very friendly towards us and wished my loved one well in the hospital. I highly recommend this place.

The NYPD pizza here was very good. I ordered the pizza with mushrooms, sausage, and broccoli. It was decent. David "The Surfer"

We discovered this place by accident when my son was on a pizza kick. OMG!! The tomato pizza is SO GOOD! The tomatoes taste so fresh. I've had it three times in the past ten days. No kidding... it's that good. My son raves about the margherita pizza. Apparently, it is a neck and neck with his favorite pizza in NYC. He swears it's the sauce. My daughter alternated between the cheese pizza and the pepperoni. Loved both! There's coin parking on the streets nearby.

We showed up about 15 minutes before closing and felt bad about ordering a Stromboli when they were starting to clean up, but the guy behind the counter said in stereotypical New Yorker fashion, "forget about it." Got it to go with each of our kids getting a slice as well. The food was excellent, the folks in the joint were friendly, and the atmosphere was our style. True NY pizza in Philly. We're a military family and felt at home there. In addition, they had cold A/C on a 90-degree day when other restaurants were boiling hot.

We visited NYPD after seeing good reviews on here. We were so grateful that we did. The pizza was amazing, really good. We had a buffalo chicken and a vegetarian. Service was fantastic, prices really good (for the standard of food you would expect to pay more). The owner Guy is lovely, we had a great chat. My son had a picture with him and his pizza wearing the NYPD t-shirt that Guy gave him. We told a few people in Philly to only buy pizza from this shop. A*. Go there!

We were coming out of target & could smell pizza nearby. Someone told us about the particular place a few blocks away. I now think what we were smelling might have been a lesser known place closer to the store. Any way, the guys were great. Ready to take your order, cup of water - no problem.. We ordered 2 slices of cheese pizza. My sister used 1/2 doz napkins just to wipe off the grease. Pizza was good. I've had better. I've certainly had worse! Price was reasonable, given the size of the slice. If you need something to tie you over before a big meal, this will do just fine.

On the evening of day 1 of our visit to Philadelphia, after driving in from Gettysburg (on the 'wrong' side of the road for us Aussies!) we were out looking for somewhere local and stress free for a quick bite to eat when we stumbled across NYPD Pizza!. And we thought, why not! We ordered a whole pizza (not just a slice!) and polished it off in no time. It was a very good pizza. So if you are looking for somewhere for a quick and good bite to eat, then this is recommended. There is some limited seating.

The staff is great, the prices okay, the food is okay. So for me the place is middle of the road and I might go there if I feel like paying the prices. I suppose that for downtown Philly the prices might be considered "good".

Great place to grab a slice for lunch.

Had a hankering for deep dish and found this place online. So glad I did. The deep dish pie was very much Chicago style and the traditional pie was right out of Mulberry St. Rich fresh flavors and very fast friendly delivery. They also have a great selection of Strombolis and traditional hot and cold subs. Don't miss this place.

Got a few slices here during my time in Philly.. Pretty good pizza for the price.. Don't get me wrong... It's not New York pizza.. But it is good!

The pizza was true to its name and was very good. My family ordered a small cheese pizza and a large pepperoni and mushroom pizza. The server/cook did a great job and we had plenty to eat.

Always enjoy nypd pizza. The employees are awesome! I love the location and the pizza is amazzzzing! There is a wide selection of different toppings. Overall, I would suggest going because you will not be disappointed.

We had pizza delivered to our hotel (Kimpton). Pizza was hot and delicious! We had the 9" personal pizzas. Great NY style pizza.

I have had better pizza than this the place need to be cleaned up and updated, I will not go there again.

They had an extensive menu with plenty of choices. I had a salad that was really good and my husband had some pizza. Both of us liked it and would go back. It was pressed for space.

Their italian stromboli is to die for but you never know if they are going to be open when you call. That's irritating.

It's not as cheap as Rosa's pizza but it's a better quality. Easy in and out and good staff. It feels like a family business with the photos on the walls.

Not only was the pizza most likely the best pizza I've ever tasted, but the staff were incredibly nice to me when I stopped by to buy my one slice. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who likes New York style pizza!

Yes the store is tacky and I would absolutely take it back to the hotel or some place to eat where you can relax. The waiteress was amazing she was on top of our order and the pizza was huge!!!! Very tastee and very very reasonalbe compared to everything else in philly.

A fellow restaurant waiter recommended this place. It was just around the corner from our hotel and glad he mentioned it. Being NY you expect a large place but do not close your eyes or you will pass it up. Although the place is small the menu is huge and has something for everyone. The prices were very appropriate. True ny style pizza in philly, not Neopolitan style. The staff were good. Want something different, give this a try.

The food was good, pretty average. large portions. Price was a good value for the size and quality. Dining in, was odd. Dirty, cramped, not so cool place to retreat from the heat. Did I mention dirty? I would probably eat there again tho :-)

I had lunch here every day for two weeks last year in april cuz I was over at the Jefferson hospital located down the street as a visitor for a loved one who was in bad shape...the pizza was great it def cheered me and everyone else up plus I looked up some funny pranks n stuff on YouTube on my phone to keep everybody's spirits up!Try their buffalo chicken pizza its bangin like a biscuit lol

Delicious ny pizza from a real New Yorker, italian guy with t shirt making the pies up front. Authentic atmosphere.

You have to try this place. The pizza is authentic with its own unique taste. Very delicious and highly recommended to anyone passing through the Philadelphia area. If you try it you will know what i mean. Very friendly and professional staff who go out of their way to make your experience feel like you are part of the family.

Baked ziti was delicious! The staff was very friendly! The restaurant doesn't look like much but the food is fantastic!

Been going to this Pizza Shop for sometime now.... the owner was obviously having a bad day when he didn’t hear my complete order then told me next time don’t order food while speaking on my cell phone 🤔 failed to give me sauce for my garlic knots then caught a fit bc I had a debit card and there’s a $1.00 minimum, after he swiped my card 2 other times due to his lack of attentiveness in service. Asked him to charge the sauce and charge a soda to meet the card minimum, he still had an attitude exchanging words with the customer, smdh what a terrible experience. I sure won’t be giving my money to this establishment anymore. Why pay a person who fails to provide good service to a loyal good paying customer. Keep your attitude and bad days off the business because it will cause you to have bad business. Such a shame he didn’t know how to control his personal issues and took it out on a good customer.

This is honestly the best pizza I'm Philly. Beyond that, the management and staff is extremely kind. I highly recommend it!

Best pizza I ever had friendly people I live in fishtown but work at Jefferson hospital if I get a ride home I always stop and get a pie my husband loves it to I wish they delivered to my neighborhood

Had a slice - middle of the road New York style pepperoni. Quite good. The Pepsi from the fountain tasted like disinfectant. Go for bottled drinks. Can not understand how people who run these places think that untidiness and clutter is attractive.

Stopped here several times for a few slices of pizza. Good pizza, they keep the pace moving for takeout. Will return again.

There are so many other pizza places in Philly to visit, avoid this tourist trap trying to pawn off NYC. The guys behind the counter should have stayed in NYC with their attitudes and the pizza is nothing to brag about.

They made everything Great! You won't regret eating here. It was our 3rd try and they beat all! Nice family, too.

It was cold outside so decide to stop here to eat. One big slice of pizza was around $2.50 or $3.00, and they were good. I personally liked thin tomato pizza and spinach ricotta pizza. The guy who takes orders was a little bit scary, no hi, no expression, no thank you. I guess that's not good.. We thought we did something wrong, but food was good, I'm not that into pizza but enjoyed their pizza..

Well in our visit to Philadelphia for the copa america centenario we spent 5 days in the city and like any other travelers we decide to walk around so we went to independence garden Washington Square, liberty bell many other place just on foot because we feel like you enjoy and more and is just great to walk in the city streets so of course we got a little hungry after all that walking so we decide to stop for a bite and we just google places around us in our phones and between many options we were just standing croos this place where we are from we have a place caleed NYCP so we we decided to compare and actually is like nothing special about the place is like any neighborhood pizzeria and it was quick ,delish and convenient for we were gald we stopped by really good crust tasty, but as i said don't try to look for a romantic quite fancy place it is a take one and go we really enjoyed!!! There are many pizza places in philly downtown area like it i thinknis great !!!

Probaby the best slice of pepperoni ever. It was huge. Hubs had 2 slices of different specialty pizzas and almost ordered a third when they pulled a fresh pie from the oven. Wonderful service.

While traveling I like to find local places to eat and NYPD Pizza was perfect for my trip to Philly. The sausage onion and pepper roll was very good and filling. The staff was pleasant and helpful especially for an obvious out of Towner.

We ran in for a slice of pizza after a long day at Jefferson and it was quick, delicious, and definitely NY Style. Try it out!
Average Pizza/Disappointing Chicken Caesar Salad
My daughter wanted pizza so I chose from one of the menus our hotel gave us. I had a heavy lunch so I wanted a salad with some substance and thought a chicken caesar salad would be fine. Boy was I completely wrong. The chicken was dry and cut like cold cuts/deli meat. My daughter a personal pepporini pizza and rated it a seven. She normally eats the left overs but didn't from NYPD Pizza. If I were to visit Philly again, I would not order or recommend this Pizzeria.
