Great Food ... Always

By Paul M |

This is a great little restaurant. Always kept clean. Menu has a lot of meat, vegetarian and vegan options. I eat here frequently for lunch or supper after work. They even have a small bar so if you need a beverage you’re covered. Wait staff are friendly. Always plenty of room. One of my favorite places to take my team out to eat!

Best Thai Restaurant in west Houston

Naam Khao is a new Thai restaurant and bar on Eldridge Parkway near Briar Forest in the Westchase district of Houston. It is also known as "Pook's Place" by locals and regulars who know the manager and bartender Pook, whose family runs the place. Their menu includes standard Thai dishes, but they are exceptional for their freshness and flavor. This place always has a lot of Thai people eating, so you know it is authentic. My favorites include Pad Thai, Tiger Cry, Piaa Rad Prik (deep-fired fish with chili sauce) and red curry. They will make it VERY hot (my favorite) if you want, but will ask you how spicy you want it and cook it according to your preference. Service is not their strong point, as they often get busy, especially at lunch and dinner, and the waitresses can be a bit relaxed and forgetful. However, their attitude is very friendly and accomodating, and if you are patient (and sometimes ask politely about your order) you will eventually be served. At night, the bar is always full with many people preferring to eat at the bar and follow the latest sports on TV.

We loved this place

The coconut lemongrass soup is my favorite! We also love their chicken wings (they are the best I have ever had) and sticky rice, no place makes it better than here. The staff is extremely friendly.

Amazing food & service

I've been searching for good thai food in Houston and FINALLY have found a spot I love. They only offer delivery if the owner´s there (for now) and he was kind enough to bring me my dinner. The soup and pad see ew were both delicious. I´m excited to order again. The only thing that I don´t like is that they use styrofoam! I was hoping to see newer restaruants use alternatives to styrofoam and plastic packaging.

Authentic and Tasty!

Had the Thai Beef Salad and Red Curry Stir Fry Rice, wow. Always seem to be disappointed with Thai restaurants til I found this one. Will definitely be coming back, menu is huge so plenty to sample!

Excellent!

Very delicious Friday curry special. Had the Massaman yellow curry and truly was enjoyable. Would recommend for sure.

More of a bar than a restaurant

By Doug G |

The place is full of regulars and so has a pretty good atmosphere. The staff are hilarious and good place for a laugh. Only had starters shared amongst the table and they were pretty good (not as good as the Thai Bistro which gets my nod in Houston). Naam Khao is more like a local than a place to visit as a planned outing.

Food okay but place gets weird late night

By TX13SR13 |

Went after work and sat in the restaurant area. Appetizers and food are okay but not great. Others in my group love the food here although I'm not sure why. Cocktails were weak. As the night went on the bar area gets a little weird. Not likely to eat here again especially later at night. Owner and staff were nice.

Good Thai

I went by myself after work. The restaurant was closed but the bar was open. I sat at the bar and asked for the happy hour. After a while, just before the kitchen open, I ask for a soup with shrimps and coconut. It was really good. I'll go back soon.

Simply consistent and great

Every time it’s brilliant. No fuss, great service and the best Thai in Houston. Every time it’s excellent and always fantastic value for money.

Nice place for Thai

We enjoyed an evening of Thai food with friends at this restaurant. The service was good, food was cooked as we liked and we generally thought it was a good place for an evening with friends. The portion sizes were good too. The server boxed up our leftovers for us too.

Fun place, great food

This is a cute little restaurant and bar in West Houston in the Energy Corridor area (Eldridge Parkway near Briar Forest). The service can be slow sometimes at lunch when it gets crowded, because all the food is fresh and made to order. Everything I have ordered has been excellent coconut milk soup, lemongrass soup, red curry chicken and ginger chicken). At night the bar is a fun place to hang out, and later at night they crank up the music and a lot of cute girls have a good time. The bartender on weekends is adorable. Great food and really nice people.

Nice place

I will dine in next time

By WhitePolarBear |

I was in Houston a few days last week for business. I was hungry for some Thai food one evening and found Naam Kaho on Tripadvisor. Because of COVID, I decided to order to go. First about the dish - I ordered crab fried rice. It was super delicious and great portion. They are also generous with their crab meat than any other places I have been to. One thing I did regret though - I wish I would dine in. The restaurant has a nice outdoor sitting as well as a nice bar inside. When I visit next time, I will choose to dine in to get a full experience.

Great Food at Good Prices

This place could be a fun place to hang out on a Friday afternoon. Cheap beers in happy hour and nice food, often with a lively crowd. I've also eaten here on a weekend when it's been quieter. However, some of the staff are a little crazy and will keep you entertained.

Good Food and Fun

This is a Thai restaurant which turns into a bar after 10pm. (They stop serving food at 10) The food is prepared by Thai cooks. Depending who is cooking, you may get different versions of the same dish on different nights. The bar closes at 2am and the crowd can vary from calm and quiet to loud and intense. Everyone is nice and the crowd very diverse. Most of the customers will be repeat customers working in oil and gas. Great place to eat party and network.

Slightly shabby but tasty

Food was tasty. We ordered our dishes “spicy “ and they were perfect. Our soft spring rolls were OK, but the rest - papaya salad, eggplant/shrimp curry, chicken cashew- were great. The fact that it is a bar helped too : good selection of beers etc.

Dinner

By Con Vi |

It was Free sitting . We ordered pad Thai with shrimp, pineapple fried rice, egg roll and sticky rice with mango. The owner and server were there to help us with our dinner. I would prefer to eat the food elsewhere. The taste was not bad, it just did not do anything for my tastebuds. The food was typical of all that dish. For some they would enjoy the taste but for me there was nothing special that I would go back again. Just go and try it.

Amazing place must go

What a great find

We went to run an errand and could smell the food and looked the restaurant up. It was very highly rated so we decided to try it. The food was outstanding!!! Absolutely delicious. The staff was so sweet and took great care of us. The space is homey and full of flowers and light. This is def added you our new fav places in Houston!!!!!

Very tasty, authentic Thai food in casual setting.

By Bugz13 |

This place is great if you like authentic tasting Thai food made by friendly staff. The restaurant is pretty small and intimate. The owner came over to ask what we were having and if we liked it. There is a cute bar as you walk in serving Thai beers too. The place isn't what I would call 'smart' but if you're looking for a great, casual place to eat (and you get lots to take home too) - then this is a great place.

Nice and Spice

By Ythan1970 |

Been meaning to check this place, i love spicy food so when asked how spicy i wanted the beef red curry i replied very. It was delicious, probably the best restaurant meal ive had in 6 weeks here, will definitely be back before i go home 😊

Best Thai Restaurant on the West Side

By Miller |

There are a lot of thai places in west houston and around the energy corridor overall. Most of them cater to westerners so its like eating thai food at the airport. Naam Khao has Thai chefs who make traditional Thai food. You can tell because there are always a lot of Thai people eating here. This is a restaurant by day and karaoke bar by night. This is the only Thai restaurant who can make you cry if you ask for the maximum level of spicy. No other thai restaurant in Houston will do it. .

Just delicious!

By Bartje1965 |

Do not judge this place on its interior because the food and service are great. Really friendly staff and menu offers a good choice. Chicken satay was good but the soup was even better. The red curry with shrimp was spicy (we ordered “hot”) and full of flavors. This restaurant is a winner!

Hidden gem on Eldridge

You can measure the authenticity of the food by the number of Thai customers. This is authentic Thai food. The staff is very attentive and pleasant. Order your food as mild or Thai hot if you're brave enough. Great beer selection to cool off the peppers!
