Sympathy for these guys.

By Roberto T |

Congratulations to these 2 Italians (from Caltanissetta) for their courage and passion for catering. They left Italy to embark on this adventure.

Perfection!

By princecharming37 |

I heard of this place from my girlfriend because she met the owner on a plane from chicago so when we went there, we had to give it a try. As everyone knows there are many italian resturants in Chicago! The owners are actaully from Sicilly! As soon as we walked in, they were very kind and sat us right away! We ordered Gnocci and Pumpkin Ravoli! They both brought us back to Italy! They were simply perfection. We also had the Tiramisu. All I can say is OH MY! Just melted in your mouth and full of flavor. I would go back to eat here over and over again!

Nando Milano -- Magnifico!

By Livingincolor |

First of all, there are plenty of “Italian” restaurants in Chicago. Too many. They serve up the same dishes and similar Tiramisu. Nando Milano, in Wicker Park, is a refreshing, unique Italian dining experience. Authentic and charming, it is the real deal. Even the cocktails are what you would find in Italy (Try “The Dave” or a “Spritz”. Expect regional Italian dishes that are made with fresh ingredients and full of flavor and accompanied by an extensive wine list. They make their own breads, desserts and lemoncello as well, and having been there a number of times, I have tried most of them and found them delicious. You will not find friendlier, knowledgeable or more helpful staff.

Great!

A small and quaint place just in Wicker Park, Chicago! I have to say, one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had! You can tell everything is homemade and fresh, the service is excellent and the staff really went the extra mile to make you feel like you were part of the family! The owner greeted everyone in the restaurant and most of the servers were Italian. Desserts are top notch and the atmosphere is so homely and romantic! I recommend 100%!

Great lasagna

By Tom Tokar |

Good food. Great service. Big bowl of Caesar Salad. Cavatelli was good. Lasagna was awesome. Would go back to try other dishes.

Best on Division

No reservations but we were early (5:45p) and Luka seated us graciously. Never had Milano Italian cuisine but throughly enjoyed our meal. Light sauces and homemade pasta. Great service.

Milan comes to Chicago

By AnthonyDB107 |

One of my favorite Authentic Italian restraints in Chicago. The food is fresh and delicious. I have had a couple of the pasta dishes and loved them all. I have also tried and enjoyed the Chilean sea bass. For dessert I highly recommend ordering the Semifreddo, it is a peanut butter and chocolate delight. They also make their own great Limoncello. The atmosphere is very Italian, small and intimate but it is worth every minute. A lot of guests like to sit down and drink wine for a while. Every time I go here they never disappoint. The food is great and the atmosphere is wonderful as well. The service is top notch. Everyone is ready to help serve or meet your every need. I have been here twice and the Cannot say enough good things about Nando Milano.

Romantic best Italian

By pammundell |

I am not a fan of itialian food. But this place make their own cheese and pasta!! The food was reasonably priced. They also have the best Italian wine collection. Off course I did not eat pasta I had the lamb chops made Italian style! Definetely very good!! I enjoyed this restaurant. The owner is Italian and very friendly. Very small intimate romantic setting I definetely will go back!!

Birthday Dinner

By Bella |

So after all the hype on Chicago’s Best I have to say I was disappointed. The service is great. Our waiter was hard to understand and couldn’t really explain the dishes to us. The food had very little taste. The presentation was beautiful but you go to take a bite and it was just average. We started with a rice ball it was okay nothing special. We tried the lasagne so hot it took 15 mins to cool down and then it had very little taste could of used some cheese and sauce we tried the ravioli stuffed with crab and lobster it was good very small portion. Then we had fettuccine Bolognese this was tasteless. We tried the almond dessert and the almonds were so badly burnt it ruined any taste it was suppose to have. Like I said presentation and service good. quality and taste of the food poor. Very small restaurant and crammed right on top of each other. With so many Italian restaurants in Chicago we won’t be back here.

Culinary memories of Italy

By hanksmom |

This place has great, atmosphere inside and out on the patio. The family is outstanding and uber friendly Italians!! The past is handmade on site! Delicious! Nice portions that aren't too big or small. Lovely wine choices. I had the mushroom risotto entree and the sautéed polenta ( appetizer). Lanna cotta which glided past your tongue for dessert. Go here if you love real Italian food and want to avoid the chain s and the dried pastas. I wish I could eat here every week!

Molto Bravo

By JGNJ65 |

A great experience! From the moment Lucca came outside and greeted us, the dinner was a winner. I came with a group of six and we were treated quite well by all. The table was cozy, but not uncomfortable. We all had various salads. I had the insalata valentino - the light dressing was really great. As an entree I had the Nido di Paglia e Fieno con Gamberi. The pasta was perfectly al dente. Nothing over-stated...all flavors played well will each other. For dessert...the cannoli. Excellent...with chocolate chips not citrus pieces. The price of the food was VERY reasonable. The only reason this review is not five stars is the bar drinks were a little pricey as compared to the rest of the menu. I hate not to give the five, but that would mean perfect and the drink price kept it from perfect. So my recommendation is GO GO GO to Nando Milano Trattoria but stick to a bottle of wine. Lucca, thanks for a great meal and conversation!

Bravi ragazzi

I love Gnocchi della nonna and also Polenta and Burrata. I am italian, I'm glad of this trattoria. You can really find the tastes of the Italy. Complimenti!

FANTASTICO!!!!

By GVL605 |

Yes, you must go to Nando...........Yes! We dined there on Saturday evening and felt like we had been transported back to Italy. From the entry and greeting to the final glass of wine....this place is the real deal. The food is scratch made, the service superb, the atmosphere cheerful, pleasant, romantic, lovely.....just wonderful....can't say enough good things about this place.....other than .....if you are in Chicago ...........please go! They will treat you like royalty, you will be pampered, catered to, and will totally enjoy anything that you order. Everyone at our table could be heard all night .....oooooooooooohhhhhhh.........this is so good! ....all night.....it was really, really, that good. If I lived in Chicago - I'd be there every week! The prices are not outrageous....the service is worth every penny....the food is 5 star! Yes, it is that good!

We stumbled on this "gem"

By Ewappner |

Upon deciding where in the world to eat in the great city of Chicago we scanned reviews and decided to try Nando Milano Trattotoria. We decided to eat early as the time was available for 6:30. The restaurant is quite small and at that time there was only one other table occupied. We received very personalized attention as they were not busy "yet". At around 6:45 the restaurant had filled up completely. There were three of us, and we ordered three different meals to share as everything sounded so good. We ordered the Bucatini Cacio E Pepe (thicker bucatini spagetti tossed with ricotta and pecorino cheese topped w/ground black pepper), Fettuccini Bolognese (House made fettuccine in a traditional northern Italian meat sauce), and Maltagliati San Marco (house made pappardelle and sausage with rapini and sun dried tomato saute in a white wine sauce). Between the three of us we could not decide which entree was our favorite! The wait staff and owners gave us so much undivided attention and at the meal's end offered us some lemoncello on the house. This was some of the best I had ever tried, and my husband and I had just returned from a trip to northern Italy. In our travels we had just visited Bologna and tried many Bolognese dishes, and I have to say this restaurant won the prize over Bologna, Italy!!!! It is a must try while in Chicago!

Beautiful Night

All I can say is we have been to Nando Milano twice and are going back again. Best Italian food we have had. We come from the northwest Suburbs and it is so worth the ride. Wish they were our here! Don't miss this place.

Molto Bene!

By SRMurphy2014 |

This place was beyond what I was looking for. The food was AMAZING and the service was crazy friendly! The polenta appetizer was savory and delicious. I have looked high and low for Cacio y Pepe and finally found it here - although it's a little different than traditional - still great though! The coconut pane cotta at the end of the night was perfect. I can't wait to eat here again!

Real Italian, real cozy, real food

By Stefano G |

Nice, warm atmosphere; very rich and varied menu of authentic as well as creative Italian food choices, from mouth-melting, flavorful Arancini to risotti, from pappardelle to lasagna, and so on; desserts are exquisite: do not miss the cannoli and be sure to eat it with your hand! Food is served in generous portions by attentive, knowledgeable and friendly waiters and waitresses. The value of the food items is outstanding. The wine list instead is definitely on the expensive side (bottles are roughly 2-4 fold overpriced respect to street prices), but I must say the selection of fine Italian wines is superb: all the gems of the true best Italian reds are there.

Milan comes to Wicker Park with delicious results!

Looking for your next foodgasm? Check out Nando Milano Trattoria! I have eaten here several times and the food never ceases to amaze me. Brothers Dario the host and Alessio the chef have created a charming and cozy dining experience. The burrata tastes like one of heaven's clouds. The menu is constantly evolving with new and exciting dishes. Great selection of wines. Buon appetito!

Great food

By e1949 |

We had great food and excellent service. They had a very unique menu. I had a nice pasta ragu dish. The tiramisu was outstanding. Our server, Sevan, was prompt and attentive. Pleasant outdoor dining.

Outstanding Italian in Wicker

By MrMarc-S |

Found this place after returning from Italian vacation in July. Dario, the owner, treats you like family. Great food. Great atmosphere. If you live near Wicker Park, you'll make this your spot like we did. If you are from out of town and staying downtown...its worth the cab ride.

Delightful authentic Italian

By jananded |

We enjoyed our evening at Nando Milano. The service was good and everyone was friendly. The food was excellent from the bread and olive oil to the tiramisu. The Barolo wine was perfect. We will be back.

A Great Italian Secret

By kevbrau |

This place was truly fantastic. It is good for couples or families. We went with our kids and family. The service is just right - always attentive but not in your face. I got the gnocchi on a recommendation and it was like little pillows of heaven. I ended up eating parts of everyone's dishes because it was that good. My sister had the wild boar pappardelle. That was really good. Authentic Italian restaurant that's a must. Outside seating is very nice and cozy. We also saw a few couples with dogs and they were accommodating. Great place.

Warm Atmosphere Great Food and Staff

By Jim25w644 |

We have been going to this wonderful little gem on Division street for a number of years and have never been anything but thrilled with the food, wine and staff. Luca is a wonderful host and the wait staff is excellent. The pasta dishes are all excellent as everything also on the menu is unique and great.

A little slice of Italy!

By Johanna N |

My boyfriend and I went to dinner at Nando Milano this week and it was truly a great experience! After having lived in Rome, my expectations of Italian restaurants are high and this restaurant met and exceeded them. Extremely friendly service, delicious wine and food, and an atmosphere that will transport you to Italy! We will be back soon!

Perfect piece of northern Italy on Division

By Drobnost |

My girlfriend and I came here a few months after a vacation in Italy, and it was just as good as any of our favorite restaurants there. The staff is all Italian, and they create a warm attentive atmosphere. The dishes are authentic and classic, which is not so easy to find in this trendy part of town. The bruschetta was perfect, as was the slow-cooked lamb. And you'd have to go to Milan to find tortelloni with walnut sauce like this. And the gelato with candied fruits is straight out of Sicily for a nice change of pace at the end.

Friendly Service - Great Dessert and Drinks

By Tricia M |

We just stopped in to grab some dessert and a few drinks. The staff was very friendly, and the food was delicious. The cannoli was good, but the real star of the evening for me was their homemade rhubarbcello. Never had that before, but one of the waitresses was pouring it into a drink for someone - I asked if it was lemoncello and she said no and that I had to try a shot of it, which I did. Definitely give it a try. The actual food looked and smelled amazing, but I can't comment on the taste since we didn't have any! Definitely want to go back on an empty stomach sometime!

A must if you are in the Wicker Park area!

By mjfromva040 |

I visited Nando's with my daughter and her friend. They live in the Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago and have been here on several occassions. The owner is very present and will engage all patrons to make sure they are satisfied. this is authentic Italian fare and the menu changes seasonally. We tried the pumpkin ravioli which was fabulous. The other mainstay dishes were equally good. The atmosphere is reminiscent of Trattatorias I have visited in Italy. you will not be disappointed.

first class!!

By eyeu |

More restaurants are popping up on Division. This place has been around for about 5 years and it is a keeper. Staff is not only friendly but very helpful. Every dish was outstanding...branzino all provenza, the valentino salad.as well as the fettuccine bolognese was perfect. All pastas are made on site and are not to be missed. Wine selection was very good with good by the glass offerings. Will be back..just not soon enough. And at a fair price for this quality!

Brilliant Find!

By Mark M |

What a find! Out of the way neighbourhood gem! If you live nearby and don't k ow it, take note. If you're visiting and want to explore a little off the beaten path, make the effort. Refined menu, superbly executed dishes, attentive service.

Not your usual Nando's, by any stretch of the imagination.

By Ewen S |

Couldn't get into Enoteca Roma, so went a few doors along to Nando's, another independent Italian restaurant. No disrespect to ER, which we know was very well reviewed, but we do think we struck lucky. Great food and service, and just the right atmosphere. All the food was good, but perhaps the best dish was the coffee and walnut semi-freddo!

However you need to get here, Get Here Now.

The ever constant internal debate resides within. Do I reveal a truly spectacular place and risk not getting in or keep mum and do a major disservice to the owners and chef at Nando? The dinners we have had were so awesome that I have no ethical choice but must shout out high praise to the public. Unbelievable food. Presentation superb. Home made pasta with skill and finesse. We walk out of Nando like blubbering idiots. Everything is always incredible. Who can be so consistently outstanding? The answer is Nando. They are outside the main food hub of the great city of Chicago. Wicker Park is a short cab ride. Oh is it ever worth it. You will dream of your dinner there for days afterwards. Gnocchi anywhere else will be bricks in your mouth after tasting Nando's version. Personally I never order gnocchi because I generally find it boring. The people I was with insisted I order it at Nando's. Whoa. Nando perfected it. I instantly knew I was tasting the best gnocchi ever and that my friends includes the gnocchi I have had in Italy. So make the effort and go. I'll just weep a bit if I can no longer get in. Just go.

Authentic Italian food and awesome service

By Amber123479 |

We loved this place! A small cute little Italian with home-made everything. Each mouthful from the home-made bread basket to the home-made ravioli in walnut sauce was amazing. My partner had the boar chop which was a real delicacy. Nice wine selection and great desserts. The staff are really attentive and friendly and the whole evening was really special.

Locals Trattoria

By Thomas H |

I love small , local Italian restaurants . This one of those places. Located on Division St. , where there are many wonderful dining and drinking establishments, I was very pleased to find Nando. It was a Monday night and many places were closed . Luckily these nice people were able to take us in and serve a wonderful meal. We had an assortment of fresh pasta dishes , bolognese , mushroom, wild boar and all were delicious. The wine list is good enough ( I do not understand Italian wines) and we had a good Casamatta. It has a cosy atmosphere and good to know that is open on Monday nights.

Great little Italian place.

By december57 |

This cozy little Italian restaurant was the perfect fit after a play at The Chopin Theatre. Our reservatios were at 5:30 but we arrived early and were warmly greeted and seated. The wine list and menu were had a good variety. The side salads were large but entree's on the smaller portion size. The bread was serve with olive oil and whole olives. We would recommend a higher quality of bread (crusty Tuscan) rather than what was provided as the quality of food set the bar. Ask for a window seat (there is only two) if you want the view of the street.

Wonderful food and service!

By JBChi |

We have driven past Nando Milano hundreds of times but never stopped to eat there until last night. We don't typically go out for Italian food but we will definitely be back to this restaurant! The staff and owners were wonderful. Thank you Dario for sending over the amazing desserts to our table and for the really fun NYE celebration. Every dessert was amazing (grandfather's recipe). Not only was the food delicious but the restaurant itself is very romantic and beautiful. A++ for this family-owned gem in the heart of Wicker Park.

Super Authentic Italian

By dreytuch |

Great evening out with friends. Recommendations from wine to "the best Dover Sole in Chicago" were well received and right on. Beet salad was lovely and buratta so creamy. Dover Sole was indeed superb, well seasoned, with a nice touch of capers, but a little pricey considering the smaller size of their portion. Spaghettini with little neck clams had the right touch of garlic, wine and lots of tender little clams. Perfectly cooked pasta! Homemade Ricotta cheesecake and tiramisu were both creamy and delicious. All left happy and ready to come back to try more excellent dishes that we watched pass by. Energetic spot, definitely had to raise our voices a bit to talk. Nice Patio, but it was threatening rain, so all stayed inside. Great service from our attentive Belarus waitress.

Amazing food, beautiful atmosphere and fun staff!

By Lisa W |

When you come to Wicker Park, Nando Milano is a must-visit. The pasta is handmade and the dishes were all delicious. The staff makes every guest feel like they're the only person in the restaurant. The ambiance is very romantic and great for couples.

A fantastic Friday Night!

By cardiff_giant |

I felt like I was a regular customer on walking in the door and at home even if I was a few thousand miles away from my real one. Sit at the bar while eating and have a conversation with the maitre 'd and chef at the same time. The caprese salad was refreshing and flavorful and stacked like a hamburger. Order the mussels and extra bread for dipping in the amazing sauce. The Nodino Di Gallina was a great pasta alternative as I had that for lunch earlier in the day. The homemade Orangecello was a wonderful after dinner delight as well as the surprise cheesecake that wasn't on the menu.

Capolavoro!

By kenatlanta |

Well, of course great food. But even better great staff who are highly attentive, friendly and trying very hard to make sure you have a memorable experience. This is a wonderful hidden jewel in Chicagoland. Check it out and smile in Italtian! Fallo!

Tasty and real Italian food!

By Francesca M |

Some friends who live in Chicago, in the Ukranian Village, took me to this restaurant, 'cause I am Italian and they wanted me to taste a good Italian Restaurant in their city. I have to say, the food was excellent! The owners and the chef are Italian, they choose the ingredients carefully and follow actual Italian recipes. So, if you want a bit of Italy in Chicago, I definitely recommend this place!

Amazing find!

By DIANE L |

My husband and I are Canadians and frequently travel to Chicago. We found Nando through Trip Advisor as we wanted to be close to our hotel, The Robey. It did not disappoint! From the warm and friendly greeting, to the outstanding wine and delicious meal; everything was perfect. The Maitre D was especially attentive and kind; he paced our evening perfectly so that we never felt rushed. I had the pasta with a Parmesan sauce and fresh truffle shavings. It was likely one of the best pasta dished I have ever had. My husband had the lasagna, equally as delicious! I would not hesitate to recommend this local gem to anyone! We'll be back! Authentic Italian in Quaint Location

By Clyde and Nancy H |

Small restaurant with great food (House made pastas) and fabulous, personable service. Use fresh ingredients and herbs which enhanced the flavors of the dishes. The calamari appetizer is really good, spicy and tender. Linguine portofino was delicious with seafood cooked perfectly, and the crab & lobster ravioli extremely tasty both made with house made pastas. Had a Nutella donut dessert, but could not partake as simply too full. If you want great Italian in cozy, vibrant setting, this is the place for you.

great Northern Italian restaurant

By Vikki E |

Food was excellent. Calamari appetizer was best I have ever had. Entrees were outstanding and fairly priced ( high 20 to $40). The homemade pasta is light and tasty. Only downer was that the service initially was very slow, but when the owner noticed it, things picked up noticeably.

Excellent and not to be confused with Nando’s

We were able to get a table for four on Saturday night because a group didn’t turn up. So pleased we did as this was really super. Home made pasta; great wine. $300 for four.

I Want it to Be Better

By Chris D |

Nando has an excellent location, a great patio, and really creative cocktails using classic Italian elements (eg house-made limoncello used in several drinks). The owner and staff are also incredibly nice, and there is a clear contingent of loyal locals speaking excitedly in Italian most nights of the week. Unfortunately, our group of 5 did not feel that the food lived up to the hype. Perhaps we all ordered the wrong things--the menu is fairly expansive--but I think it's more likely that it's just too hard to make each of the many dishes stand out. In general, pasta and seafood were extremely well-cooked, but just lacking in any notable flavors. Without a doubt, the desserts were the best and not to be missed. I would give Nando another shot, but wasn't wowed the first time out. Still worth visiting as I think it does have potential.

Truly excellent food, better ambiance inside

By focusmail |

This quaint Italian restaurant in Wicker Park neighborhood was recommended to us by bar/restaurant on the "Miracle Mile". Truly excellent food from someone who has been a frequent visitor to Italy. A short taxi ride from the miracle mile area transports one to this street of cool restaurants and bars featuring al fresco dining. Al fresco available at Nando, but the charm of this place is actually to eat inside by candlelight (and much easier to get a table inside at choice times). Casual Italian and we'll priced with good service experience.

Our favorite & friendliest Italian restaurant in Chicago!

By peter-beagle |

This was just our most recent visit, with family. We've gone fairly often and we've never been disappointed. Nando is a lovely place to sit outside (with our well-behaved dog) on a gorgeous day, to enjoy a cocktail, a beautifully-prepared meal, a special dessert, possibly some house-made limoncello after. On cooler days, sitting inside is very pleasant also. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, the attentive staff makes sure you're well taken care of.

I followed on TV their performances.Among other things we are far parenti.I Vullo brothers true Sicilians of Caltanissetta

By Roberto T |

This restaurant is magnificent and mainly Italian cuisine. It is also appreciated by American customers who do not disdain to eat well Italian style. Practically they exported Italian cuisine and more precisely Sicilian cuisine. The place is mainly located in Chicago.

Dined here last night with our daughter. Host was kind, fun and attentive throughout dinner; wait staff as well. The food was some of the best and most authentic Italian we have had. One of us had lasagna and two of us had different gnocchi dishes. We compared favorably with great meals in Italy. We hope to visit again. Atmosphere is that of a busy little cafe.

Excellent pasta dishes

By VadoVerde |

I went to this place with four friends after an Italian friend recommended it. I found it to be excellent. It’s a cozy environment and the food is delicious! I highly recommend it.

Doesn't get anymore authentic

By Lauren S |

I'd love to say I wander here but a Chicago native recommended the place during our visit and can I say that I would love to thank that person wherever you are. It's a very intriguing and romantic spot for a dinner lights are dim and servers are excellent as well as attentive. We mainly had all the specials they offered (when in Rome/Chicago). I was blown away at the savory and tender taste of the Osso Buco. I would recommend this to any traveler who wants authentic Italian food for anyone traveling to chicago

Authentic Italian atmosphere. The food was excellent, and the staff was very helpful. We particularly appreciated the flexibility for specialized menus for the children.

good food, terribly noisy

By glen k |

here's the thing: this is a very small place with brick walls and a low ceiling. we were assaulted by the noise from the time we sat down until we paid our check. the food was fine, but for my taste, not worth the painful volume from our fellow diners. wine list was on the expensive side as well. for an enjoyable italian restaurant, you can do better.
