Had back to back birthday dinners here. Yes it is pricey but damn is it well worth it. This year was different from last year. you get the usual bento box and soup, but now you get more sushi servings and three stages of dessert. The service is perfection! The only place where I will eat uni. Other than Naoe I cannot eat uni at other places because the quality just doesn't compare (inedible). The wasabi is actual scraped wasabi root made in front of you. The whole dining experience is nothing like I have ever had. Very unique and personal. I always get goosebumps before I eat here because I am so excited. Best place for sushi in Florida without a doubt. Nobu does not even compare. PS- get ready to try some very very very unique foods.

After traveling all over the world this place is extremely overpriced. The restaurant is plain and the food very overpriced. There was nothing even good needless to say extraordinary. Refrain from going here

I can't believe how much I payed for what I got, crazy!!! The place is boring, no atmosphere poorly decorated, no vibe. The food is super slow coming and really nothing impressive, in fact just edible! The best is the steamed rice & miso soup, so much for nothing. It has been the worst money spent on a meal in my life, I left and wanted to go for a slice of pizza, but couldn't since I left everything that I've ever had in there. Don't even considered it, please

We had dinner at NAOE while on vacation to Miami. Made reservations through Open Table once I booked the flights and received a confirmation call a few days before the reservation date. We sat at the bar - best seat in the house - and got to watch Chef Kevin Cory make the delicous food. Not only was the food delicious and fresh, it was presented beautifully. The chef or a member of his team explained each course to each group personally throughout the evening. We ate everything and more! Everyone at NAOE is so lovely and kind, taking time to get to know the customers and their interests. There are only 8 people per seating, making it very intimate; I felt like we made new friends. The location is very nice in Brickell Key, but parking is pricey even after being validated by the restaurant for 2 hours. I recommend this restaurant if you love exploring new flavors and learning about your food too. I thank Chef Cory, Wendy and Leann for a wonderful and very memorable dinner! We look forward to our next trip to Miami and NAOE!

Being lucky enough to score a reservation at Naoe proved to be the best sushi experience of my life! The product is flown in from Japan every 24 hours! Talk about fresh! I have never enjoyed the metallic taste and mushy texture of uni, turns out I've been eating bad uni. Here it was spongy, light and tasted like the ocean! I may have also become a convert from real foie gras to monk fish liver, dubbed the foie gras of the sea. Sweet, flavorful and mildly sweet. Finally, if you can, sit at the counter. You get to watch Chef masterfully prepare your delicacies! We were treated like welcomed guests. The manager, Wendy, engaged in plentiful conversation with us. She pulled out her phone and showed pictures of the fish we were eating as well as pictures of Chef and his uncle in Japan expertly preparing the fish. Truly an amazing experience. Go with an open mind and willingness to trust Chef and try everything; from the gooey duck to the sea cucumber roe. You won't be disappointed!

My wife and I were looking for a special place to celebrate our 20th anniversary. NOAE had been on our "list" for a while. NOAE is THE special place. After you make reservations we received instructions on how to find it. (It's on an island, and there's no name on the outside.) It only seats 8 for dinner and 5 at the sushi bar. There's no menu, which is good because you are treated to the freshest selections ("alive") made by Kevin Cory the chef. The service is SUPERB. Wendy explained the origin and preparation of each of the chef's selections, except for the "mystery desert". We guessed wrong, delightfully wrong. NOAE is not inexpensive but well worth it - an absolutely wonderful night.

Sophisticated Japanese cuisine with top family owned Sake! one of those experience for top food lovers

Worth every cent and the trip out of South Beach. Hands down a Miami staple. You MUST go. Very rare that a restaurant plans absolutely every aspect of your meal and delivers on even the smallest detail. Perfection...

One of the weird things that I do - that I truly hope I'm not alone in doing - is imagine what my last meal on earth would be if I had that choice. For most of my life, my default answer usually was some variation of whatever I'd be in the mood for before my impending death. After experiencing Naoe though, there's really not much debate. The crazy thing is that it isn't even really a meal. It's an experience - no, it's theatre. Never have I sat for a 200 minute meal and not felt like I wanted to leave after 60. But at Naoe, the time flies, partially because of the food, but also because of the service. 8 people are allowed to eat at Naoe per sitting. Contrasted against the 7 staff that I counted, and the fact that each of them is incredibly engaging, and that is why I call it theatre. None of that would matter if the the Food wasn't world-class. If the pictures attached don't give it away, I can assure you that it is. Naoe is partly-owned by chef Kevin Cory, a highly rated sushi chef who uses his Japanese heritage to his advantage by sourcing most of his ingredients directly from Japan. That includes by the way, the Sake, which comes from Chef Cory's family brewery in Oono. Among the many courses, one that stands out was the Bento Box, a course which I haven't usually seen in Omakase meals and a course which has become somewhat of a hallmark for Chef Cory. Obviously this isn't your typical Bento Box, given that this one featured Egg Custard with Uni sauce, Sweet Potato and Daikon rice, Bostom Clam (pictured being removed on the left) with Pork Jaw and Live clam with herring roe. Again, that was just the Bento Box. Among other meal highlights was the whole Japanese Sandfish (pictured on my blog at thesushilegend.com ), which included some of the tastiest roe I've ever had. The Lobster with Golden ring Octopus and Monkfish Liver (a personal favourite) worked well together as a break in the middle of a multitude of Sushi courses. As some of you who read this blog know, I'm always a sucker for trying new fish, and Naoe certainly had plenty of that. Specifically, the Sea Cucumber ovaries were phenomenal (please don't judge me). For pictures of all the courses, please see below, and don't hesitate to e-mail for any ID's. As I mentioned above, The Atmopshere is phenomenal as well. Naoe is situated on semi-private Brickell Key, so it already feels somewhat exclusive before you sit down. Despite having room for 10, reservations are capped at 8 for each of the two seatings. The host and staff are so knowledgeable it's scary; everyone knows exactly what you are eating and from where, which was a bonus for someone like me who hates having to awkwardly ask. Chef Cory is reserved, but friendly, which is as expected for a talented chef. Naoe doesn't profess to be an inexpensive meal. But - and this may sound ridiculous given it's $250+ price tag per person - it offers people exactly what they want at good value. Sourcing ingredients from Japan, especially in such small quantities, can't be cheap. All that does is add to the experience, which I found to be incredible. Highly recommended.

The best Japanese food I ever ate. Thank you chef Kevin Cory for the most beautiful food presentation I ever seen. Awesome service and the fresh food.

As an expert in Japanese cuisine, I can firmly say that the quality of the sushi and food served is excellent, it is very close to the level of the top sushi restaurants in Tokyo and Kyoto. However, I must admit that a bill of $1,350 for 4 people is way too high when compared to the offering you get in similar or even better places in Tokyo or Kyoto! The service was impeccable! You feel like you are in Tokyo or Kyoto, the Manager was waiting for us outside with umbrella to escort us to the restaurant. Overall, it was a great experience...The Menu is SET, you can't change anything, unless you advise them 10 days earlier.

You don't know what you're up to until you get there! Hard to book, hard to find, costly... But not expensive! Great food, the restaurant lives up to their slogan: "It's not fresh, it's alive". Fish is flown from Tokyo and other cities around the world the night before. The Sake served is made by chef Kevin Cory's family for more than 200 years. It doesn't get much better than that. A Menu à Prix-fixe restaurant, you will get a Bento Box with 4 unreal dishes, some Miso soup, and then 8 rounds of the freshest Nigiri sushi in your life. Dessert was great too!

The meal was like a spiritual journey. You could have heard a fly on the wall. We were 6 in this small restaurant that can take 12. The chef was quietly working at each piece we would soon savour. 3 people to serve us. Every movement, every bite, every detail: perfection. The best Sake ever: just silk in the mouth. Certainly one of the best dining experiences I have had. Pure enjoyment. Thank you NAOE!

A new and different experience. You do not feel in a restaurant. Service is personal and warm. Only eight persons are served which is the number the Chef can cook for appropiately. The food brings new palate sensations. No Menu, dishes will surprise you.

I went here for my birthday dinner on July 6 and we were blown away. A good friend got us a last minute reservation and we were so lucky! Best sushi experience in North America. Chef Kevin Cory is amazing (sit at the counter so you can watch him work) and Wendy is a consummate hostess.

The experience at Naoe is fantastic for anyone who is a food lover, is willing to try new things, is up for adventure and enjoys the attention and delicacy put into wonderful dishes . The produce which in the most part is flown in from Japan and other cities around the world daily, is amazingly fresh, prepared beautifully and served with so much detail and passion. The staff (Chef Kevin Cory, Wendy, and Leanne) were very nice, attentive and willing to explain and assist in any way. The only thing we would do differently next time is to get a seat at the bar rather than at a table so as to be able to see Chef Cory go at it with the magic in his knife!!! We were very fortunate to find a reservation 2 days in advance, since we know you need to reserve 2 to 3 months in advance. We enjoyed every bite and felt in heaven with so many of the dishes prepared for us. The experience at Naoe is very personal, the menus are even personalized.

I went to Naoe today with my girlfriend, and we had a great meal and a great talk with the chef. We love japanese food and culture, and we have been to many great japanese restaurants around the world. So we always have high expectation to nigri, and Naoe does not fail my expectation. Everything served at here is real Japanese food, which means it is not spider roll or californlia roll. Come here if you love real japanese food. Most of the dishes are well prepared, the decor and the automosphere are fantastic, and the service is seamless. The conversation with chef Kevin Cory is definitely the highlight of this dinner. Kevin Cory is such a brilliant chef. He is super friendly, knowledgable, and skilled. Kevin, please come to Boston. We do have some advices for the restaurant. Firstly, we don't think put tempura in the beto box is a great idea. Because when the beto box is served, the tempuras are completely cold, and they are not crunch and savoury. Secondly, the sea bream and cake are overcooked. I think the assistant chefs left these two dishes in oven for a much longer time than they should be. Thirld, the tempeture of the rice is great for red fish, but it is too hot for mild white fish. These are all minor and subjective issues. In generally, Naoe is still a fantastic restaurant, and the best japanese you can have around this area. ごちそうさまでした

Amazing night, superb food, excellent service! It was a culinary journey through Chef Kevin Cory's country! Sushi on whole different scale. Service was above and beyond! Experience I would recommend if in Miami! Note if you are not an adventurous foodie then this is not for you!

Japanese food is my favorite. This is one of the most exclusive restaurant I have been to. I am glad that I experienced it. But, it is not my type of sushi restaurant. Food was good, but "too Japanese" for me. I enjoy a more westernized version of this Asian food. I had a great and unique time. However, what impressed me the most was its business model. Very expensive, but all seats taken (8 total). I am glad for the "brain" behind this restaurant. I do not think I would go back because I can not appreciate the value other reviewer do.

Chef Kevin Cory floats quietly through the kitchen and delivers one of the best experiences you can have in a Japanese restaurant. The bento box served at the beginning was a combination of incredible and exotic flavors. The sushis that followed were simply perfect, balancing rice, shoyu, wasabi and fish in a way you can find in very few restaurants, even in Japan. People say it's expensive but I disagree. It's a fair price, if you consider the quality of the fish (imported from Japan) and that the restaurant sits only sixteen people every night, in two seatings of eight. The two waitresses, whose names I sadly forgot, and both Kevin's assistants - Ismael and Nelson - were welcoming and friendly , not to mention that everyone knew exactly what to do during dinner, hardly speaking to each other. Highly recommended.

This is a total ripoff. Just look at the picture of the food. They overcharge for everything. In addition they add 20% gratuity to the bill although the service is dodgy at best. 2 soups, 2 maki, 8 pieces of fish, a bowl of rice and a bowl of edamame cost $180.

Beautiful intimate setting. Get there early and/or request the sushi bar, foodies (and others) will enjoy watching the chefs work. Amazing planned, balanced, and interesting courses with explanations (and even pictures of the bioluminescent squids on the shores of Japan that we were eating)! Expensive, but a nice indulgence

Generally speaking, everything was special. The assortment of items was fantastic. Had what were some of the best octopus and scallops I've ever had... so sweet and clean. I found his sushi rice to be a bit starchy, and one of the items in the bento box opener was barley and it was pretty bland and I didn't see why it was there. But so many of the other items were truly exceptional and everything so beautiful. The service was highly precise and friendly. The staff moves like a well-oiled machine and knows how to work together. The chef also ended up being a really nice guy. All in all, this is about the best you're going to get in the South if you're into real traditional Omakase . Not Americanized. Some of the more exotic items I haven't even had in New Yorks finest omakase spots

My girlfriend and I came here for Valentines dinner and we still talk about this place regularly. This was by far the best sushi experience I have ever had and probably the best meal. The staff was unbelievable and the food was out of this world. I am still waiting to make our next reservation....waiting only because of the price which I feel is still worth it.

Have been to Naoe before for the traditional Japanese delights of Chef Kevin Corey but this time we visited the other side of the restaurant for Shabu-Shabu. The steak was certified Japanese Wagu grade A5 (the most marbleized). A great selection of vegetables made the meal fantastic. The setting is very private (communal table, but you'll feel like family). Service is impeccable.

If you know and love sushi, take the time to omakase at NAOE with Chef Cory and his team. Every course is visually stunning as food artistry, and every moment your taste buds and mouth is engaged with elegant flavors and textures. It is an experience worth your time and dollars. Operated by a sophisticated while totally approachable staff and chef. They will take the time to answer your questions. However I personally would learn at least what omakase means before you decide to go, so there is no misunderstanding if you indeed are the type with a long list of intolerance or likes/dislikes or issues or "picky" over food.

... probably the best outside Tokyo for Japanese diners and "gaijin" alike. Not an original conclusion, and one made already by one of the best chefs in the world (Ferran Adria). Honestly, I cannot understand the less-than-stellar reviews of Naoe that pop up from time to time on TA. In a city dominated by domesticated Cuban, Peruvian, and Spanish places, crazy loud hipster restos, stupidly expensive steakhouses and seafood places which do not perform at their price level, Italian American places that have lost touch with their own cooking, and many faux Asian places, this place is a jewel, needless to say, and very singular, uncompromised and intimate, resembling almost an "underground" kitchen like the early "Lazy Bear" (2 stars, SF) private dinner parties or the tiny early "42 grams" (2 stars, Chicago) apartment kitchen. Located at the back of what looks like a vacated office on Brickell Key Drive, with only a small business card on the door, once inside, and seated in the back, with a total of 8 guests, it is Japanese minimalist aesthetic pure with a modest counter and two tables arranged to the side. From the Bento box, to the composed plate, to the series of Nigiri, to the desserts, chef Kevin Cory serves an Omakase tasting menu of about 12-15 (I lost count) courses, with thoroughly curated and unusual selections of fresh fish from Japan and local waterways. Unlike more famous Sushi restaurants like Sukiyabashi Jiro (considered the best Sushi restaurant in Tokyo, which rushes you through 20 courses in 30 minutes) you are allowed your time to relax, timing in and out at 3 hours for the full menu. Also, unlike Sukiyabashi Jiro, the service is friendly, in fact, probably the best service I have ever had at a high-end sushi restaurant, with the two women attending to your every need from beginning to end, with precise descriptions of the dishes, informed answers to your questions, thoughtful adjustments to your tableware, and at the end of the service when everybody loosens up and everybody is open for conversation, you realize they are all extremely charming and friendly people. The leisurely pace, of course, means that you will feel incredibly full (it takes about 20 minutes for your body to recognize it is satiated), and you might not be able to appreciate the later courses because you are feeling stuffed. Also, perhaps not eating the sushi within 5 seconds of being prepared, means you will lose a little quality. But every serving struck me as incredibly fresh, and a revelation (the eel!), especially when served alongside the home-brew soy sauce, fresh wasabi, and family-made saki and the incredible Japanese "red rice beer" I favored throughout. Unlike some sushi establishments where the chef glares at the diners in contempt, chef Kevin Cory is sweet and gentle, indeed humble, accepting compliments with a warm smile. To conclude this rave review, compared to some very hyped sushi places in Paris, NYC and LA I have visited, Naoe outperformed on so many levels, and will stick in our memory for the rest of our lives. Thanks so much to all of you for making our 25th wedding anniversary dinner so magical.

I was put off initially by the total lack of atmosphere or decor but at meal's end it becomes clear that nothing need to detract from chef Kevin's skill and the show of the experience that will rivet your gaze for the evening (sit at the bar!!). From museum quality serving pieces to the artistry of each piece of sushi, this is 3 hours of foodie heaven. The service is attentive, sincere and unobtrusive. The chef cleans his hands and work surfaces every 5 seconds and that discipline shines through every dish from the combination of flavors (be prepared to be adventurous), textures and presentation. The bento box was a stunning opening, the sake exquisite, the green tea finish was the best I've had outside of Japan. The icing on the cake is Kevin and Wendy's warm and sincere role as hosts, you feel as though they've put this show on just for you!!

My husband took me to Naoe for my birthday and given that we have been to Japan in the past, we imagined what the meal would be like. We love Japanese food and enjoy the culture very much. Naoe left us very impressed. From the moment you walk in until you are done you will love the experience. A true culinary experience. The food is amazing, the attention is a 10, the sake extraordinary and the chef is so nice and sweet. It is worth every penny, and when compared to other restaurants in miami where you would end up paying the same, this one actually makes you feel like its worthy of the money spent. Cannot wait to do this again!

I have no doubt this is one of the best small-table Omakase style restaurants within a thousand miles of Miami. I am from Manhattan so unfortunately I need to judge it based on what I'm accustom. First off, the price was comparable to high-end Omakase restaurants in Manhattan so they are just asking to be held to that standard. It's always fun to eat at a restaurant with an open kitchen, at NAOE the kitchen was amazingly clean, but just not that appetizing in appearance. Watching the Chef cook was also not that interesting, placing delicious fish under a salamander oven to finish and putting temperature probes into other items did not convey the mastery the Chef has obviously obtained. Much of the preparation was done in a private smaller kitchen so I did not see the point of the kitchen on display. The area for preparing sushi was just a small cutting board. The food itself was delicious and very fresh. The bento box was a nice change from an all sushi presentation, but the squash miso soup was lacking in flavor and balance, and the beet and grain cake seemed uninspired and plain. Everything else in the bento box was truly amazing. All of the sushi bites they served were outstanding, the rice was warm and perfectly seasoned. To my dismay we were only served 5 bites of sushi in a 12 course Omakase with 2 desert courses. That was very disappointing to me. The uni from Hokkaido was the star of the show. It was explained that it was a special kind that is not packaged with preservatives but rather with sea water and hence more expensive and harder to acquire. The remaining 4 bites of fish were delicious, but I so wanted to be impressed by the variety, rarity and preparation of the fish and the restaurant did not deliver. There were also no hand rolls or any type of small bite that is composed of fish, rice, and seaweed. Seaweed is another way (after rice and fish) I judge a sushi chef and restaurant. The deserts were very good and really showcased the creativity and culinary skill of the Chef. The staff at the restaurant were very educated on the food and really nice to talk with while we ate. The restaurant is very much in the upper echelon of sushi restaurants, but needs minor improvements to be truly great. Perhaps we will try it again when we go to Miami next if they don't take offense to my review. I very much respect what they have achieved.

An amazing find! A really accomplished Japanese restaurant in an unassuming location on Brickell Key. You have no idea what to expect as you walk into what appears to be a deserted shop front, but as you pass through the curtain you arrive in Tokyo, with a table and a bar at the kitchen where you can watch the chef at work. The meal takes 2 to 3 hours and is a work of art as well as a labor of love. The menu is fixed so I was able to try many things that I probably would never have chosen, but enjoyed them all. I particularly enjoyed their wheat beer and frozen sake! The meal is not cheap, but is an experience and we will be back when we next visit Miami.

Beautiful restaurant (Love the wood smell/look), excellent customer service, unbelievable food! What more can you ask for but a private experience. I see some bad reviews because of the reservation system but its clearly stated when you make a reservation that you can not cancel so don't take it against NAOE! Kevin is a master chef.

Naoe was truly an exceptional sushi experience if you are a foodie and love to try different things. Loved the ambiance! Only 8 people per seating. You will love it.

Is basically an experience. One of the two best sushi restaurants I been and probably you won't find those flavors even in Japan . That said : my suggestion is that they should have wines. They only have sake and beer.

I've been to sushi spots the world over, including Tokyo so I feel my opinion is qualified. This place is over-rated. The food takes way too long, spending nearly 3 hours of your time doing waiting for what is good sushi. Not AMAZING, just good. If you have the choice, go to Zuma or Nobu, MUCH better value, food, atmosphere. Naoe has a nice ambiance inside, but nothing special, just quiet and clean, which is nice but again does not justify the 3 hour wait + the $500 per couple price tag, not including alcohol. The service is TOP quality. Really polite and friendly but again this doesnt justify the waiting time and price. Skip this place, save your time and money and go elsewhere.

NAOE isn't for everyone. It's expensive and it's exacting in the experience offered. You pretty much have to give up your options and place your fate and trust in the hands of Chef Kevin Cory. But for the few who treat an exceptional meal as the equivalent of dropping hundreds on theater (or some other event) -- and you like the Japanese aesthetic, food and atmosphere-wise -- NAOE might be one of the greatest dinners and evenings of your life. It's a small space, verging on tiny. With no sign on the door. The night we were there, a total of six patrons were present. We had the lucky opportunity to sit at the counter and watch the chef in action -- a real treat. The service from Wendy and Rachel was the best, offering their own lovely personalities and knowledge of the cuisine and the chef's outlook throughout the evening. The food was truly something else -- the perfect bento box array. The perfect kumamoto oyster. The perfect series of one scrumptious piece of sushi after another. Fresh shaved wasabi root (on sharkskin, no less). Exquisite sake (from the chef's family brewery in Japan. And all with Chef Kevin's painstakingly precise and fantastically rewarding attention to detail. It was like watching a gifted artist create a masterpiece of flavor, design and experience. So, again, if you adore Japanese cuisine presented in the most intimate of environments and are willing to drop some serious money for an evening -- a good three hours or so -- you will never forget...then this is the place you'll want to explore. Like us, you will leave feeling like you stepped in and out of a culinary dream. PS: come back for their special shabu-shabu "cook your own" presentation at the amazing "N @ NAOE" communal table in an adjacent room (plenty of space to have your own space). Another wonderful time (and much less expensive). Great atmosphere, too.

We had high hopes for this place because we've heard there was a authentic Omakase restaurant that had been going for 10 years in Miami. We got a reservation very easily for a Sunday night and read the reviews. We assumed the negative ones were because it was an expensive place ($220 for tasting menu per person) and people are typically more critical. We love going out to eat and don't mind spending on restaurants though. We've gone to all the high-end places in Miami and love several of them. This is the only place where we have ever felt truly rip-offed. Honestly, the food did not taste great and the atmosphere was boring. The rice for the sushi had this odd taste, like it was a brown rice or something that had a seasoning in it? Very odd. I asked for 1/2 rice when they offered not because I was getting full but because I didn't like it. The only good sushi was the Uni, they had two eel sushis which was odd and the squid was tough and bland. The bento box was unremarkable with one item that was so tasteless I didn't bother after the first bite. They spend a lot of time telling you about the origins behind the food which usually I love hearing but when dish after dish didn't taste very good, began to get tedious. Even the tea was bland and not great. After the dessert, which we DID really like, highlight of the meal, we asked for the check and it was $600. It should have been $440 but they added 20% for gratuity, tax and then two bottles of water and one tea apparently added up to $260 more. The atmosphere didn't make up for it either. Slightly too loud classical musical, chef seemed bored and uninterested and there was literally no decorations. The silverware was interesting though and I liked how it was mis-matched but the actual room felt like an empty store. So, believe the negative reviews, they tried to warn us and I wish we had not gone.

First - the women servers are « all world »....lovelovelove them. And now you should stop reading this.... OK- remember the bar scene in the first Star Wars movie? The one with all the bizarre creatures? Well Naoe catered that establishment. This was food that would seem strange....on MARS!!!! Weird tastes....strange textures...odd smells. Also - They serve you a teaspoon of food every 15 minutes... it’s dark and eerie....forgive my crassness.... but I spit out no less than 3 courses.... my sweetheart won....as she only spit out....2 (she’s so competitive! ) We travel the world and are blessed to eat at so many beautiful places.... but guys.... this simply is the wildest case of « Emperor’s Clothes « you will ever experience. And here’s the good news....we had one bottle of sake and the total bill was only 800 dollars! Do yourself a favor...grab a thirty dollar pizza from Lucali....order extra toppings if you want... and go home happy. (Again servers were angels.) Peace.

I went here to celebrate a very special occasion with my mom - graduating with my PhD! We had the 9:30pm seating and left around midnight - this dinner is an investment in $ AND time. We were both very full at the end of it. I don't know if I could even begin to do justice to the food by attempting to describe it - many professional food critics already have; we are Japanese but the family has been in Canada for the last 100+ years, so some of the ingredients were unfamiliar to us. Suffice it to say that it was obviously a very labor-intensive meal for those preparing and serving it, and that a lot of thought and care had gone into each serving. We did not enjoy 100% of the food (some of the rare delicacies were, perhaps, an acquired taste), but we really did enjoy the experience. The servers and the chef were lovely and, importantly (to me, at least), unpretentious (is it cynical of me to brace myself for pretentiousness coming into a setting like this?). They chatted casually throughout the evening about the food, Japan, travel, whatever came up. They carefully and kindly explained how the food was prepared and exactly how it was intended to be eaten. The food preparation and servings were almost choreographed like a dance. A staff member had called a few days before our reservation to inquire about allergies. My mother described what she believed was an exhaustive list of our food allergies (I believe there are some allergies they cannot guarantee accommodating, like mushrooms, eggs, rice). When the bento box came, we realized that a piece of food was sitting smack in the middle of one of the compartments, to which I am severely allergic. We forgot about it because I NEVER encounter it because it's SO traditionally Japanese - raw mountain yam - but yeah, that was a big oops on our part. We apologized and explained the situation and they whisked the bento box away, washed the compartment, and re-made it without the terrifying mountain yam. They were doing it in the kitchen but I could see what they were doing from where I was sitting; they took this very seriously and wanted me to be able to enjoy as much of the food as I could. Everybody was very understanding and accommodating about the entire situation. Extra special touch: Our names and a congratulations were printed on our menus, and I got a little gift from the restaurant at the end of the night to take home. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

A friend of mine absolutely loves this place. He talked so much about it, hubby and I decided to give it a try. This would be our one and only experience at Naoe. We didn't feel it was worth the price. It was a different and unique experience though. Service was great, very attentive. The food just didn't do it for me. Maybe I just don't know how to appreciate it.

It's interesting that although there are almost too many courses to count the overall impression is still one of discipline and austerity. There are two seatings a night and only 8 diners at each, so the chef has ample opportunity to fine tune each and every dish. Outstanding sakes made by the chef's family too! The service was excellent and unpretentious.

Have been here 3 times. In my opinion, it is probably the only restaurant in Miami that would have a Michelin star if the company would come. Phenomenal seafood brought from all over the world. Very attentive staff. It is expensive but so worth it (but you will be full) You need reservations, at least 1 week in advance

There are no stars enough to rate this amazing japanese temple in Miami. A unique two hours long experience thanks to Itamae Cory, a real master that makes this restaurant one of the best in US. * Online reservation only! *** For real Sushi Lovers only! You wont find cream cheese or mayo sauces fusion rolls ^O^ I really appreciate it...

Come here 1-2 times a year for the last 5 yrs. It is always a great pleasure. -Location: Secluded in Brickell Key, next to a grocery store. -Decor: Simple, but nice -Ambience: quiet. -Service: The hostesses explains every dish. They are knowledgeable, fun, sparky and sweet. It is very interesting to watch the chef cook. He will answer your questions but I prefer to observe his art than to interrupt him. -Flavors: Oh my! So many. The bento box is just the opening theme of a 3hr show. -Dessert: His ice cream is to die for -Cost: expensive but, this is expected in this kind of tasting experience. To fly in certain seafood from different parts of the world is not cheap. Also, very few seats comes with a very dedicated host. Will continue to come back

Wanted to come here for some time It's a very good experience! Must do Loved it! The food is very good! Quality , texture everything is perfect Service is beyond my imagination....... A little pricy but it's worth it! Try their sake.

The best Japanese food you can imagine, served with love from a passionate and kind service stuff in a private atmosphere. This is more than food, this is art! A one of a kind place! Outstanding!

We have been to this place a few times over the past year or so and it has always been amazing. The food is traditional Japanese and actually very hard to find elsewhere in Miami and probably in the US (at least that that we know of) - clearly not the place to go if your favorite Japanese dish is Nobu's rock shrimp. Fresh fish carefully prepared with intimate atmosphere and truly personal service. The location is very unpretentious in the quiet Brickey Key. All combined, it is a really unique experience. Make sure you book in advance and be prepared to expend a lot, but its definitely worth every penny. Try to get a seat at the counter and look for Wendy as she is really sweet and nice. We will keep coming back every time we are in Miami.

As per other's comments below, this is more than a meal, it's an experience made so by the amazing team at Naoe. We make it our mission to eat somewhere incredible on each of our trips and this time we picked Naoe after having read the reviews and also comments across other sites. It is very different and probably not to everyone's taste however we arrived with an open mind and a view that this would be interesting. We were lucky enough to be seated by the kitchen so we could see Chef Kevin in action creation beautiful dishes as well as the general preparation of the food. We felt incredible welcome and were walked through our personalised menus and selected a sake bottle to go with the meal. We chose the Daiginjyo sake wich was amazingly well balanced and beautiful. A lot of the ingredients are imported from Japan including the bioluminescent squid which are a seasonal delicacy - even I who don't like squid or octopus very much did try them and they were nice. The team were great with personal recommendations around Miami for food and what to see and we were given a list with names and places. There is a lot of dishes and after the bento box and individual pieces of sushi you are very full but as always there is room for dessert :-) The tea is great and the final piece de resistance with the secret ingredient ice cream with a beautiful cake as the side, is incredible. All in all, an amazing experience and I will recommend it to anyone going to Miami and wanting something different and interesting.

We were five people who decided to have dinner at Naoe. Two of the company wasn't that keen about sushi, however they made comprimise. The sushi was really delicious, so delicious that even those two in the company who are not big fan of sushi loved it. I could definetely give five stars, however despite the fact that the dinner was a big hit, it was overpriced.

Chef Kevin is an artist. Exquisite meal and presentation. Sit at the counter to watch a wizard at work. Plan ahead, as they only sit 8 diners at 6 or 930. The waitstaff are phenomenal and engaging, and share so much knowledge about the culture and cuisine. On lovely Brickell Key

I don't believe all the comments about this place being overrated and overpriced. The quality of the sushi is fantastic, and the price will reflect it as such. Not only is the quality superb, but the service is phenomenal, and the passion Chef has for this place cannot be mistaken nor replaced. My husband and I spent a week in Miami during our three week honeymoon, and Naoe was a definite go to. We were not disappointed. Still, hands down, one of the best meals of our lives!

So - the good parts - many many courses that are often very interesting, often very delicious as others note. But I've a few concerns to share. First - this was a massive meal - many small courses - but so many - some reasonably generous - that about 2/3 of the way thru I was more than full and I didn't eat everything along the way. That naturally won't be true for all - but if you go be sure you come very hungry and that you enjoy a very long and filling meal. Second - the front door area is not always attended - we arrived at 9pm for the 930 seating and the door was locked - and no one answered our knocks. No one answered the phones either! Eventually we caught someone's eye - but be ready to wait - we feared that the place had shut down unexpectedly. Last - this is a $200 meal, plus drinks. I'd have preferred the option of fewer courses at a lower price - perhaps that is what N by Naoe is about, though I'm not a fan of the communal table style... not sure I'll return.

is not what you think it is, is not tasty or delicius, is autocton japanese food, is fresh, imported from japan, something outreageous, extrange, you paid for the new, the effort, the rare restaurant. the service. only rice wine and only 2 beers.

This was like going to a broadway show where it starts and everyone has a role, our host's were very friendly and very good! and knew everything we asked them, this is like no other restaurants we have gone to , you eat for 2 hours from a bento box full of fish and other goodie's to single sushi, i cant remember all the names of the sushi or try to say it, 'samantha' one of the host's she was spot on and was right there telling us what the fish was and where it came from. They get fish from tokyo shipped in daily and fruits from homestead fl, this is a evening of eating and more eating and when its done you are ready for a break! we have been looking foward to going here for 2 yrs and this is a one time event or more ! we are happy we went here and we want to thank everyone for the hard work and good luck maybe we'll see you soon,

Private and peaceful setup. Essential as in the Japanese traditions. Chef Cory is simply concentrated on the food is cooking for you as all the chefs around him. Quality of food is very high and overall is the best sushi and sashimi I have tried out of Japan. He cooks for 8 guests max and you can spend hours looking at his job!

Naoe serves sushi, but it is not your average sushi restaurant. It serves a fixed-priced menu every night, and you will find yourself enjoying one of the best japanese meals you have ever had, from the bento box first course to the dessert, and the many many pieces of the best sushi in Florida in between. Everything from the dishes to the soy sauce (!) is made for this particular restaurant, and the service is beyond attentive without being suffocating. Overall i strongly recommend this restaurant for sushi lovers, although the price is rather steep.

My boyfriend invited me to Naoe as a surprise date. It is by far the best culinary experience I have had in Miami. To begin, the service is impeccable. Both of the ladies helping service the restaurant were extremely nice and knowledgeable. Wendy really made the experience all the more wonderful with her anecdotes and explanation of each course. Chef Kevin Cory gives you the most 'Japanese' experience without being in Japan. There is no restaurant like this one in Miami. It's no wonder that it was named by Time magazine as one of the top restaurants in the U.S. I recommend sitting at the bar for the full experience. The chef serves 17 courses and the service is constant. There were dishes such as the Monkfish liver that I would have never imagined I'd try in my life. This restaurant is legit and every plate was exceptional. I opted to enjoy the meal without a phone on hand so I do not have any pictures but would hands down recommend this to anyone who appreciates authentic Japanese cuisine.

This is our second time to Naoe. It is the one place in Miami I would fly down to just to have a meal. This isn't new age fusion; it is classic Japanese cuisine with simply the best preparations and freshest seafood I have encountered. And the staff is amazing. A must see. No other place in Miami will make you travel to Japan. From the execution by the chef to the service everything is what is supposed to be ...no stupid rolls, no bling..Just the simplicity and the perfection of the Japanese cuisine.. Here cooking is an Art.. the style is Omakase, meaning you let the chef in charge and there is nothing wrong with it...

If you want the best authentic Japanese... this is THE place. Very limited seating affords personal attention from Chef Kevin Cory (Google him, he's one of the best chefs) and his staff. Exceptional food and service. If you think Japanese food is simply sushi, then study up a bit before going. It's pricy, but well worth the experience. Loved it!

It was a good experience but what we paid was very, very, very expensive. The have a pre fix menu which is very Japanese you have to go there, first with a lot of money and second prepared to taste rare flavors

I am blown away. This is not just a dinner. This is an absolute experience. The chef is a true artist and culinary genius. 10 course meal crafted for the pallet. Each bite gets better and better. The sake is out of this world and the two waitresses were so knowledgable. Going to naoe makes any other restaurant you go to seem so mass produced. This is a meal specifically crafted for the 16 diners that come in a night. We spent about $500 so do be prepared. However worth EVERY penny!!

This is such a fun place, between the superb staff led by Wendy (who is amazing) and the traditional japanese techniques. I love the excitement of modernist cooking, but the chef conveyed that same excitement with traditional approaches. And it turns out it was exciting. This is about subtlety, and an invitation into different flavors (for those of us not familiar with these flavors). Fish flown in from Japan, but also local fish. I had a salmon belly sushi that almost made me weep. I had to order another one at the end. And there was a sweet cream ice cream at the end, made in some traditional way, that had some of the purest flavors I've ever had. Ask to sit at the counter so that you can watch the chef. And enjoy the experience of a chef who will not compromise on ingredients or preparation.

I have been enjoying the epicurean art of Kevin Cory since his days at Siam River. I knew I was on to someone special then and time has proven me right. I have worked as a chef at a 5 star restaurant under a 2 star Michelin chef, eaten at many of the best restaurants in this country and have had sushi experiences in Japan and I can honestly say that my dining experiences with Kevin, and particularly at Naoe, surpass all of those. First of all there is the quality of his ingredients. Many things are flown in daily from Japan and I believe he serves sake that you cannot get elsewhere (I am not a sake fan, so I can't elaborate on that aspect). Second is the his artistic vision. Kevin creates very unique and differentiated offerings based upon exquisite flavors and extraordinary texture combinations. Not only are they a sensory & taste delight for your palate but also for your eyes. Incredible creations. Third is the hospitality. Unlike so many of the talented and successful chefs & restaurateurs I have encountered over the years, Kevin does not seem to possess any arrogance in spite of his extreme talent. He comes across very sincere, humble and appreciative. Very refreshing in this time of celebrity chefs and their overblown egos. When you dine with Kevin at Naoe, you are welcomed with the true spirit of hospitality and service. Is it expensive? Relative to the quality and experience, I would have to say it is a fair value. If you don't want to pay for quality, and a unique culinary art experience, then you should dine elsewhere. There is a reason you pay more at Naoe and it is justified. Does it require a commitment of time? Yes and it is time well-spent. Again, it is not just a meal, it is an experience and one that is meant to be slowly savored, reflected upon and discussed. Share it with someone whose company you enjoy and with whom you want to share a unique experience and I cannot imagine your being disappointed.

This meal was hands down one of the best culinary experiences of my life. This is not California roll type sushi so make sure you like true sushi (raw) and like to try new things. The service was impeccable but warm and friendly, we were attentively cared for by Wendy and Benz as well as Chef Cory and his assistants. We were taken on a sensory feast and my palate and eating habits were positively challenged. His family's sake was amazing and they have several different categories and prices to choose from. We ordered the cheapest two over the course of the night but were not disappointed. Extra courses were available for purchase of which I opted for all of them and was further amazed. One of the most unexpected additional highlights was their tea program which was the most authentic and thorough that I've ever seen in a commercial restaurant. I will not visit Miami again without a second stop here.

I had heard about this small restaurant on Brickell Key but was not prepared for what an amazing experience it was going to be. The restaurant only seats about 10 customers per seating (two per night). The menu is fixed by Chef Kory dependent on what is available and fresh that day. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough for sushi lovers.

My husband and I were very pleased to have chosen Naoe for my birthday, it was a very special evening. We have had upscale Japanese in NYC and Japan many times over the years and Naoe so far we think is the best in the US. We sat at the counter (only 6 people and no more. Had the Omakase (which is the style) prepared and served by Naoe himself -- and boy, everything was truly amazing -- prepared so delicately and painstakingly. Super fresh, delicious and very authentic. Highly recommended, will definitely go again.

Dinner at this hard to find 8 seat restaurant in Brickell Key is a 3 hour exploration into the finest aspects of Japanese cuisine and service. Soft spoken chef/owner Kevin Corey offers a seemingly endless array of dishes beginning with a fascinating bento box ( fish innards, mountain yam, breast of duck and egg custard with mushroom and clams among other offerings), to a spectacular steamed mullet and a dish of steamed lobster, monk fish liver and avocado, to rare Japanese specialties like sake cured and dried fish eggs, to excellent sushi ( including the rare lion fish, rockfish and sea cucumber innards) to 3 desert courses. The service was equally exceptional as each pairing of guests was served and entertained throughout the dinner by a unique hostess ( ours was the delightful Wendy) in addition to several other waitstaff. This extraordinary experience is also extraordinarily expensive (with a bottle of sake think $600/ per couple) but it is cheaper than a trip to Japan!

I have been to many to many great restaurants but this one really beat everything. We had the 200 dollar tasting menu and it was really worth it. Food was so delicious and fresh that it melt in your mouth. All the dishes was prepared to perfection and the cleanliness is spotless. Regarding the service it is also the best I have received in my life. So much attention to details, so patient and professional and they didn´t stop smiling. Rachel that took care of us was a service expert & what a pleasure to have big chef Kevin cooking in front of us. It also touched us that they had thought about that it was a special occasion. On our menu card they had wrote happy birthday and when we left they had prepared a birthday gift. Isn´t that just wow! This place is a must if you are in Miami and like Japanese cuisine. But remember to book in advance.

At $200 per person, we expected top rated sushi and sashimi with a great overall experience. Not the case! The food was good but not great with as much or more Non fish items then one would expect. The reviews we read were good but it Was a mistake to come here. Go elsewhere for high level sushi. The best part of the meal was the owners special sake at $140 per bottle

This is a reservations only with two seating's per evening, one at 5PM the other at 9PM (disregard the listing for 7PM it doesn't exist). We were a party of three, myself and my two boys, their treat. The complete experience as stated by Naoe is in fact around 3 hours, but it does not seem like it, time flies. Our server (everyone's) is Wendy, she is excellent, friendly and very knowledgeable about every plate you will be served, regrettably it is too much information to remember as every course is different. There are a few large tables (10+) and a couple of small ones as well, we sat at the bar/counter where the action is. When we visited there were no beers available (due to importation issues) and they had, I believe, 3 -sakes from Japan available, we ordered two of them, the most economical, $100 and the second most economical $155 per 750ml bottle, we liked the "cheaper" one better but they were both excellent. I lost count but I believe we got around 15 courses including the dessert(s), there were a lot of unknown selections but there isn't anything that we didn't like. The absolute best items are the individual sushi pieces prepared at the end, each one better than the next. For us this was basically a once in a lifetime event as it was about ($336 Omakasa with gratuities) total $500 per person with drinks, not for the faint of heart, but we knew what we were going to be spending so it was no surprise. Chef Cory, when he had finished preparing and serving everything took the time to speak with us at length. The overall experience is amazing and like I said before everything was more than excellent, it was the best Sushi I have ever had and I've been to at least 100 different Sushi restaurants in the US, Canada, Caribbean Islands, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East. If I have the money I would definitely go again, especially when you consider that each time it will be different as it is always based on the fresh catch that came in from Japan that day and whatever they picked up on the pier in Miami...Of course if invited again I will go whenever. Remember that it is Chef's choice no substitutions.

Want to see what hospitality is like at its finest? Here it is. Service on another level. Felt like dining with family. Small dining room seating no more than 10 ensures high quality of food and service. It also validated the prices they charge because otherwise they would have to grow bigger and lose what makes them special. The food was spectacular. The menu changes frequently. During my visit they featured things you'll rarely see anywhere, nonetheless Miami. We had lion fish sushi, geoduck, sea cucumber roe, high quality uni. The sea cucumber was similar to Uni and served side by side with it. Spectacular. The lion fish had a great mouth feel and clean taste. The geoduck was delightfully firm, and extremely fresh(as in still moving as he prepared it). You'll definitely have vegetables you never had before like exotic flowers that taste like oysters, small young corn stalks you can eat whole, and radishes you've never seen before. Between dishes we'd chat with staff about other places to eat and they are far too eager to recommend other places to eat in Miami(even going as far as giving us a printed list of their favorites). If I could I would come back weekly, however I'll just have to save it for special occasions. Wish there were more places that cared this much in Miami.

A $600 dinner for a couple is nothing to sneeze at. You could comfortably have the chef's tasting menu at Jean Georges in NY for example, or Le Bernardin, perhaps Morimoto in Honolulu, even Guy Savoy in Paris if you keep your Burgundy consumption in check. I've done all these and I'm not saying it to be arrogant but rather to show you that I know of which I speak. The first sign of trouble came when I was able to secure a Friday night reservation on Wednesday. How is it, I asked myself, that I can get a reservation to one of the highest rated restaurants in Miami, a restaurant that seats just eight people, with a two day notice...on a weekend no less. As I drove down to our late dinner I had this ominous feeling, either every one was inexplicably wrong about this place or Miamians can't appreciate a true culinary experience. A third option was too terrible to contemplate, this was a place for the gullible and I was about to become one. The place is small and has sitting available where you can see the chef prepare his food. If, after watching Jiro Dreams of Sushi, you are compelled to visit try to sit here, the chef's theatrics will enhance the culinary experience and perhaps you won't have the dumfounded feeling we had when we left. If sitting elsewhere, away from the performance, it is only the food that can entertain you and then you will be underwhelmed. The first course arrives and it's the bento box, there are various items there and the first thing I try is a soft velvety tofu, it is fine, nothing more. This is the problem here, all the food is fine, there's nothing bad. The tuna guts are salty and match well with the sake, the pieces of fish are sweet and delicate. After the bento box comes a succession of nigiri, all of it fresh and tasty. Does it make a difference that the skip jack tuna was flown in that morning from Japan versus caught this morning in Key Biscayne? If a sardine was flown in, first class, and grilled here and it tastes like any other fresh fish that could have been locally caught and expertly deboned and grilled here does it make a difference? This cuisine lacks inventiveness, it doesn't have the bold flavors of a Morimoto or Momofuku, instead the freshness of the fish, with minimum interference (some home made, in Japan, soy sauce, a grating of wasabi) does all the talking. This, of course, is perfectly fine but it can be had in Miami at a sixth of the price. One of the three desserts was two pieces of mangoes, "from the chef's backyard", it was explained. If I was down from Fargo mangoes might seem exotic but in Miami, where people pile mangoes in their front yard in the hopes that someone will take them, this dessert was emblematic of the irrational exuberance of this place. The service, at a hostess for every two dinners, is impeccable.

More like dining in someone's home. A dining experience like I have never had before. The food was the freshest ingredients and lovingly prepared. The owner/server Wendy was the nicest and most genuine person I have ever been served by. Be prepared to spend money though, all of this is not cheap. But it is well worth it.

As me and my dining companion left this restaurant we compared notes as to which of our family members we could bring to such a meal. We decided 50% would love it, and 50% would be a little bit freaked out. 100% of us would have liked the service which was among the best I've had in dining across the continents. For sushi lovers, and adventurous palates this restaurant is a gem. Originality is tough to come by in the food business, and this place has it in s pades. The emphasis on top local ingredients combined with selected imported fishes from Japan and elsewhere, is finished with meditative handmade condiments. If you possess the willingness to challenge your tastebuds and your mind, NAOE delivers a wonderful experience. But if, for example, the notion of eating the ejected innards of a few terrorized sea cucumbers leaves you cold, then you probably won't warm up much to the variety of diverse sea life presented in the menu. We decided that our relatives who thought of sushi as possibly consisting of some assemblage of salmon and tuna served alongside a California Roll, would be perplexed, and possibly too-challenged by NAOE's thoughtful presentations of the ocean world in all its fishy, umami, glory. NAOE is not like most sushi restaurants in the USA because it is more like the best sushi restaurants in Japan. In fact, if your idea of GOOD sushi doesn't involve an understanding of loosely packed, body temperature, sushi rice-- you may be missing out on the finer points of the experience at NAOE entirely. Meanwhile for those of us who didn't miss those points, we felt like the experience justified the pricing.

If you were experience of sushi is a California roll with some electric green wasabi, then you need to come to NAOE. This restaurant elevates sushi to an experience of the senses. Subtle flavors mixed with interesting smells are all presented as a feast for the eyes. Chef Cory's team are intimately knowledgeable about every aspect of the meal. They are helpful but not intrusive; welcoming you questions but not being pretentious. Even after 15 courses, I wanted more - and they were happy to oblige. I left feeling like I had gained an appreciation of Japanese cuisine and culture. The surprise of the night was how well the sake (made by the chef's family) paired with so many different elements. I am not a fan, but felt like I grew in my knowledge and appreciation. This is not a cheap meal, but for a really special occasion, this is a place to experience!

Chef Kevin Corey and his manager Wendy deserve a James Beard combo award if there were such a thing. I feel honored to say I have dined at Naoe. The food is beyond my descriptive talent. It should be noted that this venue is not for beginners looking for a American style Japanese experience. It is authentic and unique all at the same time. The family brewed sake is worthy of world class recognition. Go. Eight seats, two seatings per night. There is a reason people fly in to eat here.

Recently came here on recommendation of my friends for a business meal and must say, BEST SUSHI EVER...will definitely come back soon and can highly recommend it to anybody with a passion for sushi...

700 USD later, and an omakase meal at a sushi counter only to have six nigiri bites and two slices of sashimi? The chef, who is very nice, fills you up on miso soup, barley, fried fish, and all sorts of other fillers. Finally when you get to the sushi, his rice ratio in the nigiri is way too high in my view. On the positive side, his sake and tea selection are good. Overall not a sushi meal I would ever recommend- I am making this assessment not only based on great sushi in Japan and a few select places abroad, but also in Miami itself- The Den at Azabu Miami, which also is flying in some of its products directly from Japan is almost half the price, at least 3 times the sushi and sashimi, great rice, great technique, real wasabi as well, special uni and toro courses, and an absolute pleasure of a meal.

If you look at restaurant's web site you would feel like this is a Tokyo style restaurant. $220 per person is not particular a cheap place. It advertises itself that is serves only Japanese fish. It's simply not true. They serve some Japanese fish: squid, eel, uni and one kind of snapper. No any kind of tuna, kinmedai, akamatsu or any other fish which you expected to be served for $220 per person. They served different local South FL fish. Desert wasn't good at all. $220 per person was charged prior to the dinner. Then the bill had an additional $315 for 2 bottles of water, 3 beers and tips. Waste of money, waste of a night. Very disappointed.

This was such a wonderful experience. Only 8 seats in the restaurant - so book way in advance. At Naoe - it is all about the food - and it is AMAZING. The menu is created a few days in advance and the food flown in from all parts of the world the day before. You will be presented with items you have never eaten before. Included in the price is a Bento Box and 8 rounds of sushi. Each dish is prepared with care (you watch each being made) and presented like a jewel. Dishes are explained - and the experience is truly interactive. The service is amazing Chef Kevin is shares the back round of each piece of sushi - makes recommendations outside of the regular menu. We shared restaurant recommendations with him and his wife while waiting for our car. They are truly lovely people, very traditional and proud of their accomplishment. This is a must visit for anyone's food experience list. Request a seat at the bar for the best viewing. Enjoy!

From start to finish, this was a great experience. What can I tell you besides that everyone is CRAZY nice and willing to assist. From Wendy (Mgr), Leanne (Foodrunner), & Chef Kevin Cory. Wendy even came out to escort my wife & I in. I would not have found it otherwise and even was stubborn telling my wife I could find it. All you have to know about this place is that it is worth it. Get some sake, order the extended courses, and relax b/c you are in good hands. Don't be afraid to ask questions. I suggest to sit at the bar and watch the Chef do his thing. Crazy fresh, clean, & delicious place!

NAOE is easily the most incredible dining experience in Miami, and I consider it one of the best Japanese restaurants I've visited anywhere. Chef Kevin Corey pays such devout attention to his craft, and it shows in every intricate detail. He blends locally-sourced ingredients with far-flung imports, and shows an eye both for traditional fare and less common items. It is a pricey meal (currently $200 pp) but it is more than just dinner; it is truly an experience.

I had wanted to visit this place for a while and took the opportunity to go with a fellow foodie. You may spend a long time looking for NAOE as it is very tough to find, but you will spend a lifetime trying to equal it. From the chef and his staff, to the tea services, to the knock your socks off private soy sauce, to the most exotic sushi available in all of south Florida: this place really pops! You are reserving an unforgettable evening when you commit to dinner with NAOE.

This was a tru dining experience. Although we visited many years ago the experience was truly memorable. The food is very challenging but really worth experiencing if you enjoy this type of thing. We really didn't have one plate that had an item we had eaten before...expensive, but fun!
Interesting Sushi experience
Second visit to Naoe, and first to it's new location. Witch by the way, was difficult to find since there are no signs, not even at the door. Good luck. The quality of the fish is over the top. The service is very personal and attentive. They accommodate at least 10 to 15 customers per seating ( 6:00pm & 9:00pm)., so it's very quite and the atmosphere very relaxing. The decoration of the restaurant is non existing, and by the time we visited they had construction material at the entrance. Overall I find it extremely expensive and overrated !!
