The hot dog was as good all the raves I have heard about it. Lemonade was thirst quenching and delicious. It was worth lining up for.

This place is historic and the food is delicious. Hot dogs and french fries that taste so good! Visit Nathan's for a quick meal or sit down and enjoy the great ambience of Coney Island.

When you are at Coney Island for the first time where else would you eat? I enjoyed the Coney Island Clam Chowder. It was delicious. The restaurant staff was friendly. Atmosphere of restaurant is not terrific but I am glad I ate here.

While In Brooklyn, we decided to check out Coney Island and have a famous Hot Dog. The Hot Dogs taste very plane, even with relish. We only are 1 each, and did not try to set a Worlds Record and beat Joey. They do have some nice solid tables to sit at outside, if not raining. Cheese Fries had a good taste.

I saw the Wonka movie with my sisters a few days ago and Hugh Grant was the Oompa Loompa!! I am a big fan of little people and I believe another dude named Brad Williams who is a very funny dwarf should have played him!! I saw him on James Corden and said he came here and had 5 hot dogs because he said it was the best things he’s ever had but then it didn’t end up well for him in the toilet!! I know I’m grossing you out but if you lose your appetite do it after coming here!! My dad is actually sort of old and he came here when it was not a victim of inflation 50-60 year ago!! I am not usually a fan of hot dogs but I do enjoy these ones!! I get a kids meal and the people at the counter never doubt it and I’ll probably get it when I’m 90!! The fries and lemonade are also very good!!

We wentnto thr nathans cart tonight in times square on 47th street thrbjne outside central perk coffee shop it was 2am we were hungry it took ages for the three hot dogs and fries hencharged us usd$42. CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS. NEvER AGAIN and yet if you go to the shop it would of been $16 he charged us $10 for each hot dog. Very dissappointimg

A trip to the Boardwalk on Coney Island is a must for any tourist visiting New York City. Our first view after exiting our train was the defunct Parachute Drop tower. However, we were more interested in The Cyclone, one of the last wooden roller coasters in America and possibly the most famous. After enjoying this Luna Park historic ride, we ventured along the boardwalk to search out Nathan’s Famous, which is still famous for Joey Chestnut’s antics every July 4th downing copious quantities of hotdogs, bun and all. We enjoyed our Kosher style beef “dogs” with all the fixings including mustard, relish, sour kraut. Others in our party had them with ketchup (What a travesty!) but, what do they know. The hotdogs were great but I enjoyed the crinkle cut French Fries even more, served in a cardboard dish with wooden picks. They were so good that I went back for a second order. It was a fun afternoon. Too bad we didn’t bring bathing suits as the water looked inviting.

The history behind Nathan's brought me here. I wanted to try a hot dog at the original location. I was a bit disappointed in the store because I visited at noon and there were only 3 registers open. The staff preparing to open additional registers were in no hurry to help the many who were standing in the lobby. The shift manager was probably the rudest of them all. We eventually got our food but the hot dogs were somewhat tough due to the staff trying to cook them so quickly.

Honestly, seemed similar to the other hot dogs we ate across New York, so not sure it’s worth the wait on a busy day. Ok food though at ok prices.

Nathan‘s hotdogs is exactly what you would expect. It’s pretty much a big covered indoor food stand, but you cannot eat indoors, maybe if they have high top tables but no chairs, and majority outside seating. I was expecting very few options, basically just hot dog variations but they have a lot more food options than you think. Friendly and a quick service. It was may be a little bit better than I expected

In the States, Nathan's is the equivalent of hot dog. The original Coney Island store, operating since 1916, is the start of the American fast food chain. It also offers an extensive menu before hot dog and fries. A combo of hot dog and cheese fries is the essential Brooklyn experience.

We took the train down to Coney Island to see the ocean and to have a famous coney dog. It's well worth it. We had a chili cheese dog, fries and chicken noodle soup...all great comfort food! They have an extensive seafood menu also. We'll try that next time!

Whoever is reviewing this a 5-start must not have never tried the Costco hot dog. The hot dogs are incredibly small and overpriced ($6USD per hot dog). The bun tasted like something one could buy from Dollarama or Walmart, and the hot dogs didn’t taste anything special. Try the Costco Hot dog that is a lot better and about twice the size. The fries are just ridiculous. They are priced at $4USD and the portion is so small that you are looking to pay about $0.20 cents per French fry.

Typical fast food with hot dogs representing the specialty. Affordable prices and very good value for money

It’s famous and our goal was to have one hotdog during our trip to NYC. This was our choice. Hot dog was good BUT not worth the price (in my opinion). $5.36 fir an original. Tasty flavour with a fresh bun.

With a destination to see Coney Island in March, I don't know what I was really thinking. We made the best of the situation of fighting the cold and still not seeing Coney Island we still made it into the famous Nathan's to grab a dog! It was as illuminating on a Tuesday at 8pm in March as it could be in July. We tried the lemonade and an original dog. The hot dog was good and so was the lemonade. They had a bathroom on the side of the building that helped us traveling souls.

We took our young grandchildren 5 and 7 on a subway ride to Coney Island for an adventure. We had a wonderful lunch - they both had kid's meals of hot dogs and french fries, husband had a classic hot dog meal with the addition of corn on the cob and I had lobster roll with corn on the cob.

I was here on a sunday ant arrived at 2:05[pm waited online until 2:27 pm where I gave me order. I ordered a seafood platter combo, order of frog legs, grouper fish sandwich, kids meal hotdog, Louisiana shrimp, and a slushy drink and a coffee with milk. got my order at exactly 2:58pm,. the counter girl was Spanish, and the staff cooking were minorities, I would see that she was claiming her orders but they were being prepared, as fast as the others. I finally told her just give me the cash back and out of nowhere my order appeared. sad to say its mostly fried greasy fries, and me and my son walked to the beach to enjoy our meal. my coffee was cold and the food was bitter with no taste. $49 not worth it!. we ate some of it and the rest went to the seagulls. nathans is overated.

We liked it a lot, although hot dogs are a bit expensive. The treatment was exceptional. The apple pie at 99c are great.

We were there off season, got a couple burgers and the french fries. Fast service, friendly service, good, solid burger with nice fat fries.

This is the original Nathan's hot dog store.. Nathan's dogs are the best and, the fries are terrific. Dont forget to have the orange drink along with the dogs and fries.. The lines do get long but, they move it along pretty well. If your in COney Island, you have to go to Nathan's.

Having read the reviews we wanted to tick this off the list of must visits while in NY. Arrived at 11.30 am and there were loads of staff but only 3 serving. The rest were either being trained or were gearing up for the lunchtime rush. After a bit of a wait we were served, which was by a team member who was efficient but lacked warmth or enthusiasm. The good news is the menu is extensive, portions big, quality great and value ok considering the weakness of pound to dollar. Well worth a visit, go and be prepared to be patient and it’s worth your time.

It's historic so you got to go there, but they don't make it easy. If you want a dog and a burger and some clams, you have to go to three lines. Crazy. We just wanted a dog and some fries and corn on the cob ($1.99), so only had to wait in the one line. Don't look for plain fries on the menu, they aren't there. Just fries with cheese and bacon and chili combos, but they do sell them for $.50 less than the cheese fries. No combos here, either.

Going to Nathan's since I was a little kid over 60 years. There is parking in front but also various area around. The crowds itself in the summer time stirs the taste buds. The smell in the area also temps the taste buds. There is something about a Hot Dog from the grill. The snap of the casing and the taste of the meat inside. Oh don't forget the mustard, or hot dog cart sauteed onions, sauerkraut or pickle relish or all. A bag of fresh french fries salted add to the treat. Don't forget a Cold Cup of Orangeade or soda..They have a Cold Seafood Bar with fresh Ice Cold Clams and even hot seafood items. Clam Sandwich, Lobster Roll, Soft Shell Crab on Toast to name a few. There are brenches outside to side at or just stroll with one. On the 4th of July is the National Hot Dog Contest takes place with crowds for blocks. It is even Nationally Broadcasted on TV. Open year round. Fun for all......

If you think Nathan's is just about hot dogs, think again! No trip to Coney Island is complete without going to THE Nathan's.

Was so happily surprised to find out Coney Island was so close to JFK. Thank you to all the staff there for being so sweet in serving me one of the best hotdogs I have ever had. Between the atmosphere and the people I hope to get to visit again soon. Thank you

Okay so there are tons of people lining up for a hot dog on a Saturday night past 7 pm....not sure what the hype is all about, there is a line for hot dogs and another wait to get a table on the boardwalk .... it’s a decent hot dog but honestly Costco’s polish dog is better. If I go back to NYC I will skip this.

Still the best hot dogs in the world along with their cheesy bacon fries, best way to end a long day at the beach.

This is the best place to get your hands on authentic Nathan’s hotdogs. The main event here for me is the chips, they don’t taste like any others, anywhere. The queue is a bit crazy but moves fast, the price reasonable and the service spot on Not too far away from the dreaded Times Square, well worth a resting journey on the Subway to

Having a Nathan's hot dog at coney island was one of my top things to do on our holiday. The hot dog was just ok but the fries where lovely!

First of all the cleanliness is A1, service A1 and food quality A1. If you go to New York or Coney Island you have to stop here to get a hot dog. I had a hot dog and onion rings both outstanding and a large orange aid , little lemonade but orange and fantastic. Prices are good you will enjoy.

We stopped here as part of an organised tour of the NYC Boroughs. We all tried the classic hot dog and found it so be nice but nothing special - we've had better hot dogs in the UK. This is a bit of a tourist hotspot so queues can get long and service is quite slow. Overall, I'd say it's worth trying if you're in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here.

Sadly it was pouring down with rain. Even so no trip to Coney Islands without a visit to Nathan’s. It really is so overrated

Loved the food here. We both had the fish burgers which are huge! Only thing that let this place down was that it has self service kiosks for you to place your order but you only order a limited number of items from these. Why can you not order from the whole menu? This would cut down the time spent waiting in line just to place your order.

Nathan's old fashioned hot dogs will never go out of style. Great prices, variety of food to choose from. Friendly staff. Always crowded. If you visit Brooklyn, make sure to stop at Coney Island Nathan's. You won't regret it.

First time visit to Coney Island - stopped here for lunch after arriving via the subway. I had an iconic dog with chili and mustard - so good! Wife had their burger - I ate the second half of it - also very good! The food ordering lines move pretty fast considering the volume of customers.

So glad we tried the food here. As fast food goes it was surprisingly nice. My husband had the hot dog and we had the chicken sandwiches . Fries were yummy too.

We spent half a day out at Coney island on a recent trip to NYC, we wanted to ride the cyclone and each a Nathans Famous. For the tourists (Of which I was one, different counters do different foods, so don't try and order your fish sandwich at the hot dog counter like I did. Food was really good and we went back for seconds

It will be crowded, you will wait on line, you will smile and laugh and you will have a NYC tradition literally under your belt. I’ve been going to Nathan’s for awhile shall we say, and every trip fits the above scenario. Including many years ago when my parents and I walked into it filled with uniformed NYPD officers. It must have been the safest spot in NYC that Sunday in the Winter. If you can’t find a seat outside right away think about the boardwalk. Whatever just enjoy.

Nathans Famous Restaurant in Brooklyn, New York is known around the world. We had lunch at this, The Original Nathan's Famous, right after we left Brooklyn's NY Aquarium located a few blocks away. Our hot dogs and fries were delicious as usual. Enjoy!

Got the bacon cheese hot dog and regular fries and partner got a kids meal. The hot dog was too small and the large beer was very big.

The food used to be legendary and affordable. Now it is neither. The food is fast food average and the prices are very high. If it wasn’t for its location and reputation it would be highly forgettable. The ‘dogs’ ain’t what they used to be.

Supposedly the best hot dogs in town. Don't know if that's true but they certainly are very very good.

Nathan hot dogs is from another time .You come to coney island. You see and smell the hot dogs grilled on a flat steel surface .the smell is out of anthor time. The French fries are fresh and hand cut and cooked in peanut oil and salted. The fish and and hamburgers are made in front of you.The are so good. It should be on your wish list.

If you love hot dogs you must try Nathan’s as they are amazing, you can see the little carts all around on corners or there is the restaurant too

went few times to Nathan's on the C oney island boardwalk and always had a great experience. food is great prices are high however is worth the price just for the excellent food. 5 stars

Nathan's is famous for its hot dog but in this place you can also find a offer of fish sandwiches. We ordered lobster roll, fish burger and shrimps roll with fried chips that I strongly reccommend as they come in a special "wave" shape and they are really delicious. For each sandwich they also communicate the calories that contains. An ummissable experience!

if you are visiting New York, you should visit Nathan's because it is a part of Coney Island's history but don't expect the world's greatest hot dogs but do expect inflated tourist prices. Nathan's gives you classic fast food and the outdoor seating is nice when the weather is good and someone is there to keep the panhandlers at bay.

Nathan’s hot dogs are very good but eating them where they originated, somehow makes them taste better

Loved our Natan’s Dog on Coney Island!! We had the hot dog with chili and cheese and added some mustard and an order of fries! Sat on the boardwalk and shared a table with another couple from South Africa .. great conversation with a great hot dog!!

On my visit everyone said I needed to go to Coney Island and have an authentic Nathan’s hot dog; there was nothing better. It wasn’t a great dog, overpriced, kinda dirty restaurant and the staff acted like they’d rather be somewhere else. Just wasn’t worth the effort to get here.

Do not try to pass by, I did! It is too inviting and they make it so easy, there are like a thousand lines each with their specific orders so you barely have to talk!!! Do it!!!!

Hot dogs always great & fried soft crab shell sandwich. Opened all year round. Always still have alot of people but less workers but always worth the wait🤗

Tried the very famous Nathan's hot dog twice, one in a kiosk in front of the Natural History Museum, the other in the historic location in Coney Island. To be honest, nothing special, after all it's a hot dog, that is, bread with a frankfurter, what do you expect to eat? It probably makes a lot more sense to try the other dishes, which I imagine are tastier and more noteworthy.

Famous for the hot dogs, and they are really good! then ocean view, on the promenade of conney island. there is also more, but the hot dogs should be tried! promoted

loved the atmosphere, wish we could bring it back, they had it all, frankfurters, dhow mein sandwiches on a hamburger bun, sodas, you name it it was NATHAN'S.

If you head to Coney Island, you have to go to Nathan's. Obviously the original is there, but we ate at the Boardwalk one by the water so we could sit outdoors. We loved everything about it. It can get windy, so hold those napkins close. Great hot dogs!

I had to stop at Nathan's because I've heard so much about it and my son's name is Nathan so it made for a great photo OP. nothing special about the hot dog we have better ones in Chicago.

ever since Nathan's started to franchise, their company owned stores have declined especially the original one here in Coney Island. Declining quality plus outrageous prices (5.69 for a hot dog.)

I love coming to the original Nathan's. There are so many great memories here and the food is always consistent but very expensive. A hot dog will run you $4.75 but it is still the best. Their hot dogs have a nice hint of garlic and have a nice snap to them when you bite into them. Their French fries are still the best of all the fast food chains and they give you a very generous portion size for a small. It is fun to sit outside and get the cool breezes of the beach when eating. It is part of the whole experience.

I’ve been wanting to come here for years after seeing the annual hot dog eating contest. I dragged my here on a subway in NYC while on vacation. Food was great.

Checked the Nathan's Hotdog emporium in Coney Island - sort of a foodie bucket list item of mine. We almost had a heart attack when we arrived after an hour-long subway ride and saw fire trucks pulled up to the restaurant. We thought just our luck the place burns up 5 minutes before we finally get there. Turned out to be a minor grease fire, for which they didn't even evacuate! I wasn't expecting much - it's a hot dog place, after all - but was pleasantly surprised. The basic dog had a nice snap when you bite into it, and good flavor. I almost tried their lobster roll, too, but in the end decided to stick with the house specialty (it's not Nathan's Famous Lobster Roll, you know?).

Not much to look at, but this is the real thing. Come hungry and be prepared to gorge yourself on all kinds of delicacies, not just the hot dogs. And especially don't forget the french fires!

Most registers were empty but I was standing behind people who appeared to be getting served (slowly) until staff said there’s no line there so I went further up and stood behind someone who appeared to be getting served. Staff then pointed people to multiple registers that had no staff and said that there were lines there so I stood in one and after about 5 minutes a staff member finally appeared. All the staff were running around and shouting at each other without seeming to know what their jobs were. Certainly the worst service that I’ve seen during a week in New York. Anyway, the hot dog was ok, the sausage had some reasonable flavour (nothing like a good German sausage but better than I expected) but also a lot of gristle, the cheese and chilli added no flavour, and the hot dog was pretty small for $5.50, however I got a very large beer for $8 and I’ll give them points for that. I won’t return though.

With a son in college in NY, the city has become my home away from home. Each time I visit, he and I check out new places. This time it was Coney Island. We were stoked to go to Nathan's Famous after seeing on some show (maybe The Foods That Built America?). Let me start by saying it is overpriced. I was willing to pay it because it's Nathan's Famous. But I did expect perfection. If you've been doing hot dogs for over 100 years, I'd expect you to do it right. The hot dogs are small and the dog to bun ratio is opposite what it should be. I wanted a regular dog and a corndog. They don't have corndogs! But they do have frogs legs and cheesesteak. Go figure. Anyway, ordered a regular dog and chili cheese dog. getting relish took an act of Congress. It was as if they had never heard of the stuff. On the other dog, they might have given me 2 tablespoons of chili. And worse, they use "cheese" sauce, I asked if they had cheddar and the poor girl was so confused. She said "we have "yellow" cheese, is that what you want?" I just accepted what I knew was going to be American "cheese." Needless to say I was underwhelmed. We had a total of 4 hotdogs and 1 shared order of fries for $41. Should have been $20 tops and it still would have been overpriced. Sat at the tables outside surrounded by undesirables. At as quickly as we could, got up and walked the boardwalk, then left. It was an experience. Perhaps a visit in the summer would help. Warmer weather, more energy and perhaps they clean the place up (the area, not Nathan's--it was clean), might have made it a more pleasant outing. I may give it another chance, but not until I check off a whole bunch of other items from our list.

Very tasty hotdogs in the cafe that made them... well, famous. The place is still very popular, so the line took 15 minutes, but the wait was well worth it.

A little disappointed with the famous Nathans, read on line there were veggie options and was greeted very a very miserable counter server who said there was none and then went on to offer very little alternative. No smile no customer service and for the price the portions were very small for my husbands hot dog :(

Great Fast Food. The place is huge and the service is pretty good. Long lines move quickly. A great variety of fast food.

the renovation that had to be done after Super storm Sandy brought Nathan's familiar fare back to Coney Island but, It doesn't feel like the gritty street side dining I grew up enjoying as a young adult. Food hasn't changed any,and the fries are still the best anywhere in NY!

Las Vegas - Flamingo: The service was quick but I am really not sure what they are famous for? I had chilli cheese fries and an incorrigible ‘beer’. The cheese was plastic, the ‘fork’ was ridiculous and the Modelo Chelada ‘drink’ had the “refreshing flavour of tomato, salt and lime”. The taste was appalling and was neither refreshing nor flavoursome. Yes, I selected my drink but this was not a good experience. My friend did not receive her complete order. Not recommended on any level.

I have been here several time in the past off season, and getting around is easy and parking is plentiful. Getting through Brooklyn on the Belt Parkway on a good day is worth rewarding yourself with a Nathans hot dog (2 or 3), some fries and a huge beer. I usually stop here every couple of years. Park the car, walk to the boardwalk an onto the beach and back to Nathans. The hot dogs are fantastic. the fries and beer is an added plus. There are many different items or combination of hot dogs that you can get here or at the Nathans on the boardwalk, but here, there is much more outside seating. The basic hot dog is not cheap, but worth the treat at least once. People always standing in line just for their world famous hot dogs. Give yourself a break going through Brooklyn, take a half hour detour and treat yourself. Very easy to find too. Get that off your bucket list! Nathans at Coney Island, treat yourself.

We just tried hot dogs and coney dogs. They were really good. Tried Coney Island beer for the first time. It was very good. Very friendly staff.

Truly spectacular hot dogs and burgers, worth queuing for both the taste and the cost. I recommend trying them both because you can find the American flavor in full!

I love the hot dogs and French fries at Nathan's. They have not changed since I was a child and hope that they do not change in the future. The hot dogs have a nice garlic flavor to them, and the fries are always so crisp and snap when you dip them in the ketchup. The service is always friendly and welcoming. I love eating outside on the tables in the warmer months and have done this since I was kid. This is what I love about Nathan's in Coney Island. It does not change.

We came down to Coney Island to walk the boardwalk on a sunny Saturday. Nathan's was packed, it was one of the 1st weekends that Luna park was open and the sun was out. For some reason they only had half their tills open, and kept yelling at the lines to move across to other tills as they shut and reopened them. There was a pretty tense, yelling atmosphere. Some people had minor arguments as they tried to sneak into other queues, or felt ignored by tellers etc. So I guess it took around 30 minutes to get served, which is nuts really if you are just after a hot dog!! I finally ordered a clam po boy, chilli dog, philly cheesesteak , fries and a large old fashioned lemonade. I didn't realise I'd have to wait again for the order, so it was another 10 mins to arrive.. We ate outside under the umbrellas, it's a bit run down but OK. The hot dog and the cheesesteak were great. The po boy had a slightly sour thousand island sauce I kind of ate around. The fries were chunky waffle chips- very greasy. All in all, it was one of our worse eating experiences in NY, tbh you are surrounded by amazing eateries all over Brooklyn. It was a must-do event for us, but a bit of a disappointment.

When it cone to hotdogs, Nathan's is my absolute favorite. The hotdogs are awesome and when you eat them fresh off the grill, there is a crunch on the first bite. When you go, expect long lines, especially in nicer weather.

We stopped here for lunch on a day trip to the aquarium. We ordered a lobster roll, a fried chicken sandwich, cheese fries, a chili dog and three drinks, one being alcoholic. $50.. this is what is costs! Besides the outrageous prices, the lobster was tasteless, the chicken was so over fried that there wasn't much meat left. The fries and dog were okay but definitely nothing special. Don't waste your time or money.

Brilliant,,,,,,👍 Plenty of choices but a FAMOUS HOT DOG IS A MUST….. Reasonable prices and big portions too….. Lovely enjoyable food, Friendly staff

Waited 25 minutes in the “Express” hot dog line. Fast food this is not, would not have waited if we had realised it was this slow

Driving through Brooklyn needed to stop The cyclone the broad walk the entire area though renovated still has the feel of yesteryear when you walk into Nathan’s. Hot dogs that snap when you bite in same onions same sauerkraut and french fries still great The place was busy during lunch not packed and food came out quickly Worth the trip to America’s number one hot dog place

The OG Nathan’s Famous on Coney Island is a must visit if you are in the area. It oozes with history from the unique menu (weird seafood options at a Hot Dog place?!) to the vintage neon to the people watching of all the unique “characters” in the area. Expect decently long lines if you go during summer or a weekend and service is somewhat questionable but it’s fast food at the end of the day, so what do you expect. The dogs are always perfectly cooked and fresh with all the toppings you want and crispy fries served with the little fork. Yeah, you’ve had Nathan’s before - but not here.

Fast food at it's very best. Definitely have fries with that! Something for everyone...The largest variety you can imagine.

I guess this place is somewhat historic. The hotdog and fries were tasty, but overpriced. Would I do it again? Probably. Haha.

the hot dog is as good as everyone says , the place was clean all except mens bathroom was out because he said they was cleaning ??

It's true: hot dogs are delicious. A cult restaurant that doesn't change.. A must do if you go to Coney Island

We went because attracted by the nomea mainly. We ordered two hot dogs and cheese fries. Quality of food quite low: the hot dog had a strange taste “disguised” by sauces; soft chips and soaked in oil, without any flavor. I do not sincerely Recommendation. Also the place is poorly maintained and there are not many tables to sit. We also noticed that the restaurant was given a B (instead of A) in the hygiene Rating that was carried out there.

Nathan´s is for sure, the best Hot dog of... pay attention !! BEEF, yes Beef and not pork !! By far the very best you can eat in the street. There are not many moving stalls in the streets of Nathan than of Sabret (pork hot dog). Quality is excelent, and prices off course, are affordable. Besides all this, eating a Hot Dog in the Streets of New York, is another attraction to do and live, so, enjoy it !! You will say once at home, "I had a hot dog in the streets of NYC, as actors on movies ! "

Well worth the long subway ride from Manhattan. Had a bacon cheese hotdog and a Heineken. Cool place, great food, and home of the annual hotdog eating contest. Take a short walk over to the Coney Island boardwalk after and burn off those calories!

In 1916, Nathan Handwerker started his nickel hot dog stand on Coney Island with a $300 loan and his wife's secret recipe. Today, Nathan's is the most famous hot dog in the world with over 400 restaurants in 17 states and 15 foreign countries. The flagship restaurant remains at 1310 Surf Avenue on Coney Island, at Surf and Stillwell, and to keep customers coming back for more Nathan's has introduced a new menu that includes a bacon cheddar cheesy burger, chicken sandwiches, fresh Angus beef burgers, a three-cheese meatball parmesan hero sandwich and a New York cheesesteak sandwich. But my wife and I came to sample the original hot dogs. Which is better, Nathan's Famous hot dog or the Coney Island hot dog or the Chicago-style hot dog? Nathan's Famous premium 100 percent beef hot dog features the same original recipe cooked up by Nathan Handwerker over 100 years ago. The Coney Island hot dog or European-style hot dog features smoked sausage topped with a meat sauce made of seasoned ground beef topped with yellow mustard, white onions and cheese. Nathan's version of the Chicago-style hot dog consists of 100 percent Vienna beef topped with yellow mustard, green relish, onions, tomatoes, pickles, sport peppers and celery salt. Give the edge to Chicago. Meanwhile, Nathan's also features three other delicious items -- Classic Burger with a 1/4 pound pure beef patty, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, ketchup and mustard, a patty melt with a 1/4 pound pure beef patty, grilled onions and Swiss cheese on rye bread and a corned beef sandwich with sliced corned beef, mustard and pickles on rye bread. Truly, Nathan's is the flavor of New York.

I could not believe the weather being 86 degrees but to enjoy it on Coney Island in October is the best! I was able to have the day off and I b-lined to Coney Island to see the aquarium and go to Nathan's for lunch. Nothing is better than a Nathan's hot dog and crinkle cut fries on an outdoor table. The hot dogs here have a nice hint of garlic and snap when you eat them. The crinkle cut French fries are the best. They are so well fried out and were really fresh. It was just the combination of sites and flavors that make eating outside Nathan's a real treat. It is good any time of the year. Also, order their Orangeaid. It is really good and not too sweet. Be prepared for lines though, it is busy any time of the year.

One of the oldest places in Brooklyn , right near the oldest park . This is the place where you want to come to get hot dogs! Original ones with good taste. Service may not be the best, and other things on the menu maybe not something that you expect! But the hot dogs are truly great!

The seafood is fantastically fresh and reasonably priced. I highly recommend the oysters here. Also, I tried the lobster bisque and it was very creamy, smooth with bites of lobster. Well worth a visit and some of the freshest oysters I’ve ever had.

Hands down the best chili cheese hot dog ever! Fries are also delectable! Iconic and delicious! Visited about 11:30 am, not too crowded. By the time we left lines had formed. Some seating to the side of the building but fills up quickly! Service was quick and friendly! Don't miss this!!

Flew in from California. Got in line at 8am and made it to the stage to watch the MLE Nathan's hot dog eating contest live. Then we had some hot dogs at the original Nathan's. They have way more food options than I thought.

Nathan’s has the best hot dogs, let’s be real. I’m not a huge hot dog fan but I will eat one from Nathan’s. Historic and classic. If you’re in Coney Island, you have to visit!

I am not a hotdog person but I want to experience Nathan’s. The fries are the best so whatever you order don't forget to order fries.

A must stop at their flagship restaurant where they hold the hot dog eating contest. Just a reminder that this is NOT the Nathan's on the boardwalk!

Formerly the most famous hot dog track in the city, now a big fast food restaurant in Coney Island, you can still find mini trucks around New York but nothing compared to what you eat in Coney Island. Very good hot dog at a fair price, outdoor tables to sit, good beer. 2 hot dogs and two beers about $30 To taste

Nathan's is a landmark of Coney island. It is one of the must haves when going there. The lines go quickly and they have decent seating

I didn't eat here, just had a drink on a sweltering hot day. It's kind of cool being there in a "just-like-the-movies" sort of way.

How is it possible for a place of this reputation to be so dire at serving their customers? How their service be so slow with so many staff. Food fine but ordering chaos done at a snails pace overshadows any famous dog experience.

We went on a date day to the Aquarium in Coney Island on a Thursday afternoon. What better place to eat afterwards? Nathan's of course! We got the works, Chili Cheese dogs, cheese fries & onion rings! Oh my, as always simple & satisfying binge food!!! We ruined our diets, but we don't care! A true NY staple.

Stopped here for dinner at 8pm after riding the Cyclone at Coney Island. My husband wanted the "original hot dog" and we also ordered the fish sandwiches and fries. He loved the dog and the fish sandwiches we the best we have ever had, and the fries were great too! I swear each sandwich weighed about a pound. The food was fantastic, fresh, and very well prepared. You know how a photo of a food item always looks better than what you get? Well, when we unwrapped our food, it looked like the photo. The staff were so great and we thoroughly enjoyed our nostalgic experience. I also ordered the Coney Island Mermaid draft and it was delish! My husband ordered the milkshake and said it was the best he ever had, and that is saying a lot coming from him! We walked by the location in the early morning on the way to see the beach and when looking inside the glass garage doors, I could not believe how spotless the restaurant was. Nathans takes great pride in their food and facility, no wonder it has been there over 100 years! When in Brooklyn, NY this is a must to stop at!

Easily one of the best hot dogs in New York therefore the nation. The fries are great too. If you are ever in NY it’s a must.

Whenever I am near Brooklyn I make sure I make a pilgrimage here. The dogs at this place are still as good as they were when my grandfather took me there at age 5. Do not mistake these for garbage they sell in the supermarket under their label, these have natural casings and pop when you eat them.

Just what you would expect. Good hot dogs! Don't forget the fries. They are excellent! I went for lunch. Minimum wait time.

This was the best hot dog I had period. The toasted bun, the fresh taste of the sausage, the ambience and the history; just made it special. I did not need any ketchup or mustard to enjoy the hot dog either. The secret was to eat it right away. Price is an issue. Cannot too many of these. The service was okay. Too many people on a hot summer day. Parking was impossible.

Fun experience with amazing hotdogs and French fries! The location on coney Island pier is my favorite by far- but the other locations are amazing as well. A MUST visit!

My fiance is from Brooklyn, I am from New Jersey. She loves Coney Island and always asks to go to Nathans for fish and chips dinner. We have been there many times before over the past five years we've been together. This last time, we ordered the fish and chips and a soda but when we went outside to eat at the tables after opening everything up, we found that we were not provided with utensils to eat it with. I went inside to obtain them and walked up to the counter. I waited a bit and noticed a man standing there close by who was wearing the Nathans uniform shirt and apron. I explained to him that I had just bought food but they neglected to provide utensils. His comment to me was "Oh ,yeah?" to which he just ignored me. I said to him, "I'm sorry, I must have mistook you for someone who works here." He replied "Let one of the girls take care of you." and went right on ignoring me. Eventually I caught the eye of some young lady who was nice enough to help and she handed me the utensils I needed to eat our food. Before I left I photographed the person who refused to help and told him I was going to nominate him for "employee of the month". The food was good as always but this "employee" really left a bad taste in my mouth. This last time we spent over thirty dollars for the food and I found it a pity that Nathans has an employee who has such an attitude that he does not care about the customers enough to help out. I seriously doubt I will be back, not because of the food but the attitude.

I went to Coney Island for the Annual Hot Dog Eating Contest and it is always such a great time. The crowds were huge this year as the weather was amazing and the return of Joey Chestnut to the competition. He and Miki Sudo both won again. I waited until later when the crowds went down to have lunch not being able to with the long lines after the Mermaid Parade. Their hot dogs and French Fries are still the best! Their hot dogs snap when you bite into them snd have a great garlicy taste and are so good either way their spicy mustard. The French Fries are still excellent but the portion sizes have gotten smaller over time. I made them add a few more. Lunch here is an experience because you never know who will sit at the table with you as you have to share tables on a busy day. Nathan’s is an experience that you can’t miss when in Coney Island.

Hot dog nothing much, very good instead milkshakes and fair prices if you go to coney Island, you can not skip it, nice atmosphere.

On the advice of a local guide and already knowing its fame, we decide to try this place, famous for being the place where they are said to have invented the hot-dog. So high expectations that have not been denied! The hot dog was really good! It is a simple sandwich yes, but still good and typically USA. The chips are also good... Good value for money. Recommended!

Before going on the boardwalk at Coney Island I realized I was hungry and longing to once again enjoy one of Nathan's hot dogs along with their delicious French fries. I had them put sauteed onions on top of the hot dog + I added relish and ketchup. I enjoyed my hot dog and fries immensely! As packed as Nathan's usually is, I managed to find a table in the back area. Afterwards I was ready for my walk on the boardwalk on what happened to be a glorious day. The sky and clouds were spectacular. There weren't many people on the boardwalk or the beach. The ocean, the beach, the great pier, the rides, all were lovely to view. I loved walking the length of the new and improved great pier and being so close to the ocean with nothing obstructing the view. The salty sea air filled my lungs and how wonderful each breath was. Coney Island, place of my birth, will call me back again and again.

Nathan's has been around for more than 100 years. There was a charm to the restaurant prior to hurricane Sandy. It was redone with one long counter. Service is slow and lines are long especially during the summer. Prices are not cheap. At this time a hot dog costs almost $5.00. Seating is available outside. July 4th hot dog eating contest is the highlight but unless you get there super super early, you'll never even be able to get close. During the summer, live bands played outside. Nathan's offers discount coupons if you subscribe but you're limited to one coupon per visit.

I have been to this Nathan’s many times since my childhood, and glad to see it is still standing. It is a nostalgic landmark. If you are visiting from out of town, it is def. a place to check out. The original is on the Main Street, and there is a mini location on the boardwalk. There are tables benches outside, and table stands as well. Their hotdogs with mustard and sauerkraut, and their French fries are a must. If you like fried clams, and other fried seafood they have that too. I feel like it was better before it franchised, but still worth a visit!

We didn’t get the recommendation to get a hot dog at Nathans during our New York trip either. (at a small booth near Times Square) Basically, my sauerkraut hot dog was not bad, but rather simple. Rolls + a fat-fried sausage with cold sauerkraut + mustard and ketchup. The three stars result additionally from the fact that we had not asked for the price before ordering. With $22 for a sauerkraut hot dog and a corn dog, I felt a bit caught in a tourist trap.

Of course if you are visit Coney Island, you have to grab a hotdog and fries at the world famous Nathan's. However, if you happen to be in lower Manhattan, near the World Trade Center (on Park Ave., across the street near the Information Kiosk) there is real Nathan's stand and another in midtown at Columbus Cirlce near the giant globe (when you need a taste of NYC before heading to Lincoln Center). All you'll need is a hotdog and crinkle fries and all will be right with your soul.

The classic hot dog was ok, the fish and chips were not. The fish was bland and the fries were undercooked. However, a generous portion.

There are now numerous satellite locations offering the same tasty food. Cant beat the hot dogs or fries. I think there is a wider variety of selection at the CI location, plus you get to watch the coaster rides.

I came to Coney Island early to see the famous hot dog eating contest on the 4th of July. I have to say this is something that you should see at least once. It was fun to see the hoopla of the contest and the entertainment to get the crowd buzzing. Everyone had such a good time watching the competitors and the thrill of them giving it their all. It puts you in the mood for a hot dog and I am sure that Nathan’s sold plenty of them that day. I had to return several hours later and the crowds were still there but the lines moved fast. Their hot dogs and fries are still the best and there is nothing like a Nathan’s frank after a long day at the Beach. Their crinkle cut fries are the best and are so crispy on the outside. There is nothing like the original Nathan’s.

We also got ripped off near times street. They charge tourists what they want. Too bad! Don't go! Damaged the night for us all

After leaving the MET hungry, tasting a Nathan's hot dog from the food truck seemed like the best thing to do and in fact it was one of the best we tasted, chips and corn dog included. It must also be said that eating this hot dog on the street on the tables is very USA. However, I still wonder how we even managed to spend a lot as usual.

It’s New York, the unusual drinks compared to France✌️✌️✌️✌️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸and the really delicious hamburgers as you imagine

They do great hotdogs! Good flavor with the essential snap. $5.99 per (naked dog). Ordered the onion rings ($5.99) and they didn’t seem fresh, although we got there 15 minutes after they opened. Tried the fried clam boat ($10.99) and don’t bother. 99% breading, with zero clam taste.

It was great to go. I had the hotdog that tasted like any other. The fries were good. Prices on the high side for a hotdog. The have chicken, seafood, and burgers too. The seating is AWFUL for the customers that are served. I refused to sit out in the cold. After paying almost $40, WE stood up and ate just like everyone else. Can I just have a seat...

But SO pricey! They could use Combo deals. One dog, small (regular) fries and a drink ran $14. Food is excellent for what it is, lots of picnic tables outside to eat at. Server was quite pleasant. But prices are high and it would be nice if they did a little "meal discount" if you get one of each

From researching what food to try in New York, Nathan's kept coming up so we figured why not. It is quite expensive for what it is, and the regular hotdog is so tiny. It's more like a child's sized hotdog. The hotdog itself was crisp and had good flavour, but honestly... It just tasted like a hot dog. We haven't had another New York hotdog to compare but it was a tad over rated. The crinkle cut fries hasn't been cooked enough so sadly they weren't crispy.

We came here on December 27, 2019 on our way to visit Coney Island. We knew that this was the original location of the first Nathan hotdog stand and so we visited the restaurant. There was a long line when we got there. (I imagine how crowded it might be in the summer.) And seating was limited. Fortunately, we were able to get a table. We ordered foot long hotdogs in a bun. Nothing in their hotdog was extraordinary. I still think that Philippine-made Purefood’s juicy hotdogs are the best-tasting hotdogs ever. When you’re in Manila, try them. The biggest come on of this place, though, is the experience from the fact that this is the original location of the first Nathan hotdog stand.

I went to Nathan‘s at Coney Island and had chili cheese dog and onion rings. I was disappointed in the food. The hotdog was pretty plain and I got all of about eight onion rings. Still I’m glad I went, now I can check it off the list of things to do.

Had a dog and French fries. They have the best fries out there. Long lines but worth the wait. Everything is not great there but the dogs/fries are.

Great hot dogs and tasty sides. We tried cheese dog, chilli dog and onion rings. Reasonable prices. The service was very slow, but worth the wait.

Incredibly horrible food. We ordered the cheesesteak. It was the worst I've ever had. It was cold, no steak on it, the steak that was there was burnt. COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY. VERY DISAPPOINTING. I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO FAMOUS NATHAN'S. SAD

Loved our Nathan’s food in July very tasty and well cooked. You can miss Nathan’s as you wall out of the subway station. Can’t wait to try again.

Well, everyone should go just because it's iconic, but treat it like a snack and not a meal because it's nothing exciting. Go get your overcooked hotdog with canned chili and liquid cheese, take your pic, and then go eat somewhere.

The hotdogs at Nathan’s were so good that we had them at the original location in Coney Island and their stall in front of the Met. Is it better than Sabrett or our very own Jollihotdog?... well yes!

Worth visiting. The Chilli Cheese hot dogs were very delicious. The restaurant is designed for mass amount of tourists.

They serve the iconic hotdogs of NYC! But I have this question in my mind that why is it that every food truck that I go to has a different price, specially on Central Park. Overall, good hotdogs and cheese fries!

It's a holy place where hot dog eating contests famous among Japanese people take place, and it's a place I've always wanted to visit. It's a little far from Manhattan, taking an hour by subway. In the summer, the beaches are popular, so it's like Shonan in Japan. In November, there were quite a few people along the beach, but all the amusement parks were closed, Nathan's was open with only half the counter, and the stores along the beach were closed. The hot dogs have been slightly increased in price, and due to the weak yen, each one costs over 1,000 yen. They are rich and delicious, but they are small, so if you eat a lot, it will easily exceed 10,000 yen. In addition to the original hot dogs, the hamburgers were also delicious.

Hot dog was delicious. It's a shame that I later noticed that these street carts that sell near tourist attractions... don't have the same quality as the restaurant. Not the same value. I felt deceived!

This will most likely be busy, but, it's a must. Not just for visitors but Brooklynite's as well! Nathan's has the classic dog everyone is trying to replicate. No one will. If you can get here for the 4th of July then do it. The hotdog eating contest is really a site to see! So much fun and a once and a life time experience.

Hotdog is my sport and the way to live It with a great big hot dog and drinks and friends what a place so what's your sport so come have fun

I had 2 hotdogs they are so good. Simple classic and now you can get them anywhere. Street venders and I had some at summerstage in the park. A great quick meal

We really enjoyed the hot dogs, the cheese fries and the delicious milkshakes… very friendly staff.. well the area a little sad due to the super rainy weather but that has nothing to do with it… I recommend you strongly... orders can be placed on an independent terminal and rapid preparation... On the other hand, no table to sit there so we have. Eating while standing on the sauce display…

The classic dog in the original spot! Worth the $5 if you're already there, but not worth the journey unless you also plan to visit Coney Island amusements, beach or brewery. It took 15 minutes of ridiculous line shifting (and it wasn't that crowded) for a dog, but it was really tasty. Even better, you're only five minutes away from the Coney Island brewery at the baseball stadium...walk there while you eat your dog and wash it down with one of their new creations. You'll be glad you did.

Nathans Hotdogs if you want a authentic hot dog it also sells chunky chips. This is the place, famed for its 4th July eating competition some of the numbers are staggering. The only downside is the calorie content is listed on the menus board. A few more laps on the boardwalk has got to help….

The original Nathan's is a must stop if in coney island. It is indeed worth the hype. The hot dogs are delicious and a true original. The lines are long but move fast. Grab one or two and enjoy.

Nathan’s Famous retains its appeal over the decades as serving a very good hot dog and fries. Probably more nostalgia than gourmet, but Nathan’s continues to serve up a good hot dog.

While in Nee York I read about Nathan's in my travel guide and decided to visit. Nothing fancy, but lots of fast food options. I went for the hot dog with chilly. I liked it but was disappointed with the cheese with a tube. Overall, nothing outstanding but a must if going to Coney Island.

I got the 2 hot dogs combos and they were Ok. I had high expectations about Nathan’s hot dogs as a friend referred them to me but they were just Ok. Not so tasty.

We spent the day on Coney Island and, of course, had to have the Hot Dogs at Nathan’s. It’s a pretty well run set up and the food is what you’d expect - easy and fun. They have a decent choice of beers. We had the Coney Island lager and the Blue Moon.

The cool atmosphere and delicious food makes this American institution well worth the visit. also, give the mac and cheese nuggets a try.

The hotdog itself is still good. Toppings are nothing special. At over $5 for a hot dog, I guess I expected more. COVID-19 has affected so many businesses, and this one is no exception. Sad. I will just continue to enjoy Nathan’s from home.

Is the place in the world where the hot dog is created. If the restaurant on the beach is full you can use the other. There’s different lane for hamburger, hot dog, corn and other’s food. The hot dog is really good. The service sometimes is slow. No free refill. There’s a wifi line but doesn’t work. No place for eating indoor

We stopped by this iconic eatery for a spot of lunch while on the way back from Coney Island. OMG the food was generally awful. Horrible salty soup that I couldn't eat. Dreadful cheese spread instead of real cheese, and some ghastly fish ball things which again were inedible. The only thing I could eat were the fries. I thought they were OK, but my husband couldn't eat them either. All in all it's dreadful American fast food at its worst. Probably the Americans eating there were used to eating this type of food. We are not.

This is a topic that I am an expert in. Nathan’s which is famous for their hotdogs, has so many other great dishes that it’s impossible to go wrong ordering anything. Their Friday are beyond discretion, and believe it or not, their fish is mouthwatering. The only problem with Nathan’s is that most people’s stomachs aren’t large enough to taste every they serve. A real fast food lovers treat, and by the way the. Obey Island atmosphere is great .

If you are on Coney Island then, go for the “full package” and get a hot dog. You can stand in line or order at the cash registers. There are 4 types of hot dogs, different drinks, fries. You can sit outside. Keep in mind that the birds also want to enjoy themselves.

We went to Coney Island today, very excited to eat at Nathan’s hotdogs. The food was fantastic, after we finally got it. The order peocess seemed rushed. It seemed obvious the cashier didn’t eat there. We got our food piecemealed, they forgot our water and ranch. Asking for it was like asking for gold. The first manager just walked off, after asking me three times what I wanted. Ranch is not hard. Diana, the other supervisor said her name was terry (who actually knows). Being honest they were both just rude. Despite the amazing food, I would never return. In all my trips to tourist locations, I don’t think anyone has been that rude. To be honest, it was all the staff, not just the managers. Seems like the kitchen is doing well but other staff needs an attitude adjustment

We decided to eat here since it had been in business for so long. The prices were expensive, which we expected, but there wasn't anything great about the food. The quality wasn't anything spectacular and service wasn't the best either. Next time I'd try one of the sit down restaurants instead.

This is the legendary, iconic place for grilled--never boiled-- beef hot dogs. You may have to wait in line, but it'll be worth it. Have the fab French fries, too--crunchy outside and soft inside. Treat yourself to these goodies at the original Surf Ave location where the annual hot dog eating contest is held, or the annex on the boardwalk while you await the weekly summer fireworks. No visit to Coney is complete without Nathans!

Coney Island boardwalk outlet is busy and that’s fine ( to be expected on a hot, sunny August afternoon). But the staff are slow, rude and clearly not engaged. That aside-probably the best hot dog ever! and the fries with bacon/cheese are delicious. Good alternative to the soda is Nathan’s’ old fashion lemonade. Definitely visit but be prepared for the low quality customer experience.

Well I managed to buy, eat and enjoy an original Nathan's hot dog. I even almost bought the t-shirt. It was a taste of history. If you enjoy a good hot dog then if you are in town don't miss the opportunity.

Always stop here whenever the family is in Coney Island. Love the hot dogs and the fries. Great atmosphere as well.

After reading many sub-par reviews of the original Nathan's in Coney Island I continue to ask myself - why would anyone come here and order anything other than a hot dog? Most of the bad reviews seem to be over menu items like lobster rolls, chicken sandwiches, and alcohol. If you go to Geno's in Philly get the cheesesteak - trust me. If you venture to Coney Island and stop by Nathan's don't get fancy. Stay in your lane and get the hot dog. We stopped this past weekend and being an off-peak time of year found plenty of seating. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal before our trek back to Jersey. Thank you, Nathan's - see you again soon.

Just by chance we went at 10 in the morning so can’t really comment how busy it gets as there was only a handful of people on there at that time. There’s a great range of food on the menu, it isn’t just Hot Dogs. As well as a hot dog I had the fish sandwich, which I was expecting to be similar to a fish fillet. However, it was so much bigger than that, it was two big pieces of fish with pickles lettuce and tartar sauce. The hot dogs were also pretty good as expected.
Beat Hot Dog
This place is right in great coney island. Has the best hot dog period. Fries are also really good. Very nostalgic feeling when you are here. Worth the visit.
