Great food, great place to take a date as it is quiet and cozy. Food is spectacular, cocktails delicious, great service. A hidden gem in north Dallas area.

Everyone was thrilled with their choice! The Sampler was super - the Service was Great!!! You can't go wrong with any item!!!

The Mexican shrimp cocktail was excellent. The shrimp poppers were also very good. Really liked the luncheon steak and frittes. Great lunch value. Taylor provided outstanding service. Very reasonably priced. We’ll be back.

We had Catfish and wedge salads today. Nelson’s serves what is undoubtedly the best fried catfish meal in the Dallas/Plano area. You can count on it bring cooked perfectly with flaky meat and tasty, tasty breading. The wedge salads are always crispy and loaded with delicious dressing and an abundance of bacon bits. All the service we have ever had here has been prompt and friendly. We always leave happy and looking forward to our next visit.

I met the owner to this AMAZING ❤️😍 New eclectic restaurant in Dallas. "Nelson's Steakhouse" All you guys MUST have a date night, take your parents or just go stag to the bar! But you have to try the Steak and seafood & The "proper" old fashioned drinks...I'd say hands down best whiskey sours and old fashions, and for the 🍻 beer nerds...he has Goose on Tap!!!! I tried the crab cake and it was the biggest and crabbiest; crab cake I've ever had the pleasure of putting in my mouth. The 🦐 was phenomenal; even down to the housemade remoulade sauce. Everything was so perfect! The owner takes his time, puts a lot of heart and soul into his masterpiece entrees and cocktails. He's a perfectionist and It shows. In comparison I'd say like Del Friscos...minus all the "Extra" and boujee-ness. But better and It's affordable; especially for the quality of steak and seafood you are getting....He has aged Wagyu beef. 🥩it is the perfect hangout atmosphere, or date spot. Cool art throughout the restaurant 😎and a nice ambiance. Super clean, and best waitress/bartender in Dallas Tiffany. She was a real sweetie. Go tonight!

Great neighborhood restaurant. Food looked and tasted perfect. Prices were exceptional. We had the crab and lobster dip to start along with off-menu bacon wrapped shrimp - complements of Chef Brian! There’s a whole amazing story that we will save for another post. Hubby had the red fish and I had the red snapper. Both were cooked perfectly and tasted even better. We also had the shoestring potatoes and lemon basil sauce. So yum. 😋 To finish the meal, we had a piece of Keylime pie with a perfect meringue and a graham cracker crust. It tasted as good as it looked. We will definitely be returning and bringing friends. We’re sure how we never discovered this little gem of a restaurant previously.

This place is rather new, replacing a fish joint that was a not sure whether it was Mexican or not. However this place is an unusual mix of spirits and well prepared food! Although, it is not fully complete the spirits, beer wine and wine are there for the choosing. The steaks we had were nothing short of delicious, perfectly prepared and nicely presented. The fish selection was good and also well prepared. The decor is a little confusing, doesn't fit any particular niche. We will be back!

We visited Nelson's in search of seafood as the previous restaurant at this location was seafood only. We were very pleased with the result - I had grilled redfish with mango/cucumber salsa which was delicious; my husband had fried shrimp & catfish which he also deemed excellent. Starter spring salad was also a winner. Not a fancy place but more upscale than the previous tenant - nice but casual feel. Service was very attentive including visit to table by owner. We will definitely be back.

Have been eating here since they were transitioning from Hook Line & Sinker. Brian has done an excellent job into transitioning this place into the Great Place it is today. Really good Top Quality Food and Staff. I am excited to experience where this place growing. Live in the neighborhood and able to walk my dog over for a really GREAT meal.

The gumbo here is semi-hot and loaded with shrimp, fantastical. The fried catfish is as tasty as it gets. The decor is new looking and very pleasant. The service is fantastic too. We had steak, hamburger, and a wedge salad last week. They were really good too, as was the service. We highly recommend this place.

This was our first time eating here..our neighborhood newsletter had people raving about it and we had read several other great reviews and decided to give it a try...I'm very picky about seafood and I can definitely say this was absolutely great! Not a huge or fancy looking place..but the service was outstanding. We started with the ceviche and it was excellent then a couple of us had the redfish for an entree...outstanding and someone even had the burger...excellent...also started with a couple of their fabulous salads..wedge and spring salad come highly recommended. Can't say enough great things about Nelsons..used to be Hook Line & Sinker and this is many steps above that. The owner Brian is spectacular...checked on our table always there to speak to customers and very good customer service. 5 stars for all of us and we will be back. It's a favorite now!
Great Shrimp Gumbo
Went to Nelson's on a Monday (early evening) and just had to share! In my last review, I mentioned how the gumbo lacked meat so, I wanted to try the new Nelson's Seafood and Steak place that took over the "Hook-Line & Sinker" location. Of course, I starting by asking "Will the Seafood gumbo hurt my eyes?" And, not to my surprise, she also said, "No, it has a lot of shrimp...big shrimp!" Woo-Hoo.....I'll take a bowl! Sure enough, none of this "canned baby shrimp"....this was the real spicy, Shrimp Gumbo! (Ask for the rice on the side!) Nelson's has been changed into a sit-down nice restaurant. I'll be back to try other dishes for sure - I'm in the area every Monday!
