This is the restaurant you always went to back in the day. All the Cantonese dishes with a sprinkling of newer choices. Favorites like Shrimp and Lobster sauce and Orange Beef are done very well here. The Scallion Pancakes are tasty. Chow Fun done any way is a must. Sweet and Sour Chicken is very good despite it's orangey color. The Oolong tea they serve is the best.

Visited several times in last several months. Everyone I bring here likes it. This is very good old time Chinese food like you used to get in Brooklyn in the sixties. I have not had a dish that I have not enjoyed. From the soups to the home made Chinese crispy noodles and all the differant entrƩes. It is worth the trip from anywhere in NYC.

I started going to New Ruans Chinese Restaurant and have been very happy with the food and service. I have been patronizing this restaurant an average of once a week. I usually get the prix fixed dinner for $30.00 plus tax and tip which is very good. I start off with the wonton and egg drop mixed soup followed by a choice of at least six appetizers which I usually get the spare ribs (four pieces) then comes the entree which is a choice of at least six and I usually get the lamb chops (four chops) served with sautƩed string beans and a bowl of white rice everything very delicious It is enough food to share with one other person For desert I usually get pistachio ice cream I only live a couple of blocks away but it is worth the trip to come here Hot tea is complimentary with the meal and the atmosphere is very nice with table cloths served with dinner. They also have an extensive alacarte menu as well as combination plates

If you are ever in Brooklyn NY & in the area of Bensonhurst , & in the mood for some really good Chinese Food , try New Ruans Restaurant , they are located on 86th St Between 19th & 20th Ave. Whatever you order ,you will be getting the best quality of meats & fish. Filet Mignon is used for meat dishes, & Large Shrimp for Shrimp dishes. .Portions are large, and the prices are very reasonable. They also deliver to surrounding areas. Parking is on street.

Food is yummy, Especially Chicken and Broccoli. However everytime I go there. Rice is hard like a rock. It's just how they make there rice.

They have been around since the 1990's, a local chinese restaurant for eating in or taking out. Food is always well executed Wonton soup is good although too much of a fake yellow color, pan fried noodles are excellent for the most part you can't go wrong with anything you order from them.

Plain american chinese food

We were told that the best authentic chinese food could be had at new Ruan. They were wrong. We ordered the Vegetable Egg Foo Young, Scallion Pancake, Egg Roll, Cold Sesame Noodle and Orange Beef. Not one of these dishes had any real taste and you ant substitute canned carrots/peas for chinese vegetables in inclusion in Egg Foo Young. In fact after eating the Egg Foo Young and Cold Sesame Noodles (which arrived warm and had a very disagreeable taste), I did not feel well. The Scallion pancake was overly dense and again tasteless. The sauce for the scallion pancake has a nasty taste. The Orange Beef was bland and lacked enough sauce to do it just but that was just as well.Overall portion size was only average and pries were higher than most comparable places. We were lucky and only did take out but we will not be ordering and/or visiting New Ruan ever again.

We love lthe food here. You get all your very typical dishes with a few gourment ones thrown in. The people who run it are wonderful. We have used them for house parties as my granddaughter is a huge fan of their food. Definitely worth a try in Bensonhurst...You will not be disappointed. Beautifiul atmosphere too.

this is a really nice sit down Chinese restaurant, but the food is ok, good overall, the presentation is really nice but the food is nothing special just "chinese-american" food

Remember eating Chinese food on a Saturday night out in the old days. Does it bring back memories of how good the dishes were. New Ruan is still that type of restaurant. No Asian Fusion or nuveau cuisine. Just very good old fashion Chinese at its best. Large enough selection to satisfy anyone.

Used a coupon for a four course meal. There was more than enough choices on the menu that covered our coupon...from appetizers to desserts. We also looked at the regular (extensive) menu so know we can return and go wild. Staff courteous & attentive. Parking a litttle dicey but we lucked into a spot when we drove up. Busy area so vehicles are always moving in and out. No problem

Been ordering takeout for years from this restaurant, ate in the restaurant a few times. The takeout food for the most part has been very good. On occasion I guess depending upon the chef and the chef mood food has been not so good The biggest drawback lately is the price. The food has gone up in price often. Itās getting a little expensive now. Donāt know the reason, itās not a fancy exclusive neighborhood. Iāll continue to look for other options and buy here for a treat.

Food and drinks are always great. Service is friendly and efficient. Perfect for friend gatherings, with family, or any other occasion. Does delivery and catering too.

They are very good , the menu has the same thing you can find in any Chinese fastfood place but they make it so much better! I think they are the best in Brooklyn and they are ranked 67th in the whole US

New Ruan's Restaurant is a nice place to take a date. It's quiet, the service is efficient and polite and the food is fresh and tasty, although unremarkable.

My family has been coming to new ruans for years. I rate them as one of the top Chinese restaurants in Brooklyn. Prices are a bit high, but I'm one of those who are willing to pay a bit more for better food. Their spare ribs? To die for... Their signature dishes come with animal carvings derived from vegetables... One of their signature dishes is chicken 3 style... 3 different styles of chicken on one dish... Try new ruans you won't be disappointed.

Went to the New Ruans Restaurant with a discounted Groupons coupon. They offer a prix fixe $30.00 four course meal which was pretty good that included appetizer like barbecued spare ribs and then soup like wonton followed by the entree like baby lamb chops served with string beans and white rice or Jumbo Shrimps with walnuts. And ending with desert like ice cream. Hot tea is also included. The atmosphere was very nice with table cloths at dinner time only. They have a bar which offers drinks at an average price of $10.00. The service was acceptable I will return even without the discount even though they are pricier then other neighborhood restaurants. The prices seem to be on the order of Manhattan restaurants

Remember the #1, chow mein, egg roll, fried rice, wonton or egg.drop soup, or specialties like moo goo gai pan, egg foo yung or shrimp with lobster sauce? The Cultural Revolution didn't only occur in China, it happened on Upper Broadway where Hunan and Szechuan cuisine wiped out the past. We are on an odyssey to find the Chinese American food of yesteryear. Help! Richard Mei's King Dragon on Third Avenue was the epitome of this tradition--albeit in a more glamorous iteration with waiters in white jackets and a tuxedoed maitre d'. Jade Mountain on Second Avenue was another more informal example of the same style of cuisine. New Ruan's in Bay Ridge offers some of the accoutrements of this nearly lost world. The ribs are meaty, with that inviting reddish hue. The booths, preferably leather or naugahyde, an essential element, were the coup de grace. If you order the egg foo yung tell them to hold the gravy.
