Top notch steakhouse located in Buckhead. The service and food are first rate. We hosted clients that evening and they were equally impressed. Entrees are on the high side but certainly worth the price given the food quality, portions, and level of service. One of the proprietors, Bobby Donlan, greeted us as we entered the restaurant and welcomed me by name. We joked about the Yankees and Red Sox as he walked us to the table, setting the tone for an enjoyable dining experience. We'll be back.

Excellent restaurant and I enjoyed a lovely New York Strip. The food is very good, fish, meat and side dishes. Not cheap but worth every single dollar

Second time at a New York Prime and again the steaks are amazing! Overall wonderful experience, only 2 items of note that kept me from rating a 5/5. The table we were sat at was right beside an exterior door going out to a covered patio area. This was a revolving door and every time it would open our menus and napkins would blow off of our tables as the cold air blew in. Also, the broccolini had a very off almost burned plastic flavor. Overall, food was awesome and we enjoyed our night.

Service was wonderful, he knew when we needed him and when we needed time. Food was great exactly what you would expect from a high end steak house. Atmosphere is a bit on the loud side but comfortable. Would definitely return. Loved the cigar bar up front that makes it feel even more old school.

Jable was the best waiter hands down!!! The food was amazing and cooked to perfection. We had the petite filet, lamb chops, crispy lobster and the Butter Cake and omg I was in heaven. We recently moved from Las Vegas and I have high steak standards and this restaurant and Jable exceeding my expectations! I have a new favorite restaurant and will return but, I’m keeping my hopes up that I will have the best waiter in the building again. Thanks Jable!

My wife and I decided to get away for the night and splurged a little on dinner. The staff did n outstanding job getting us parked and seated. Waiter was a pro! The Shrimp Cocktail was the best I've ever eaten. A variety of breads came to the table and all of them proved pleasant on the palate. The steaks, cooked perfectly, followed a wonderful Blue Cheese Wedge Salad and came with a shared side of onion rings the size of a softball!

Actually I'll say it's my second-favorite ever ... and I do a lot of steakhouses. Some in Atlanta are pretty good (Flemings) some are OK (Mortons) and some not so good (I'm talking to you, Capital Grill Perimeter). Haven't tried the Palm yet, will report when I do. I started with my usual caesar salad. I like it with anchovies, and the waiter got tired of me saying "one more" and left the bowl with me (excellent, I love `em). Then a steak that I've not had before: a medium-rare "CENTER CUT FILET OF RIBEYE",which seems steak-ier than the usual filet while keeping the filet's great texture. I had it with bearnaise sauce, and it was all excellent and plentiful, plus it stayed hot. I was convinced to have a "CINNAMON WALNUT APPLE PIE" which I couldn't finish but wished that I could have, it was a dream. The barman had a good touch with a Manhattan (as in: not too sweet) and the martini was good. (I think it might have been Grey Goose rather than my preferred Ketel One, but I could be wrong, and in any case it would certainly be no harm done.) Oh, and a shout-out to the waiter as well. In case you're wondering: IMO the best steakhouse ever is Shula's in the Dolphin at WDW (Orlando). But this NYP is a close second, and I'll try it again to give it a chance to go to #1.

This has been my favorite restaurant in Atlanta for years. I'm not a regular but go 1-2 times a year for special occasions. It has always been, and still is, the best steak in town. The service is always amazing too. They are on top of their game in all areas. The setting is just so-so. Your are long level of a giant office building. I would say there are several other steakhouses I. The area with a better ambiance. The reason my score is low is because of the cigarette smoke. As soon as you walk in it hits you in the face like a swift kick. You have to walk through the smog to get to the seating area and my clothes still stink from it. We asked for a table as far away from the bar as we could but still the smoke invaded our meal. It was really disappointing and ruined our meal. I think restaurants should be able to decide if they want to allow smoking or not, but I am able to decide not to go. I just can't see paying that much to sit through such a polluted meal - no matter how good it is. I don't think we will be back, and that is disappointing.

I ordered a bone in ribeye and asked for the steal to cooked medium - I was served a burnt steak - charcoal burnt on the outside and medium in the inside. We were a table black women professors and meals for 3 people and wine for 300 - for that restaurant to serve me this was humiliating, I cannot believe the server bought that to my table! Extremely dissatisfied! Will never go there again!

We had our company Christmas party here and I was so looking forward to it. I had been here once before and had an amazing meal and service. So this time I was expecting to be blown away by everything. Instead it was the worst experience ever. To start it took forever to get a waiter to take drink orders. Then the salads were tasteless and old looking, my $50.00 lamb, that I couldn't wait to enjoy, was over cooked and never did a waiter come to ask how the food was. The head waiter was so rude he walked away from me while I was giving him my order, splashed a drink on me while he was pouring it and totally ignored me when directly told to give me a glass of wine. Finally we had dessert. Now for $30.00 for one piece of chocolate cake you would think the cake would be amazing. But this cake was dry, stale and cold. The entire meal was just not good. There are so many better steak houses in Atlanta and for less money. This place thinks too much of itself!

I had not been to NY Prime for years, so decided to come back recently with my wife and daughter. We were staying at the Ritz so the restaurant was very convenient. Service was great, but very pricey. Possibly the best bone-in ribeye I had ever had, and the girls both ordered the bone-in fillet ($98 each!). Sides of creamed spinach and asparagus were great. We had the crab appetizer, and cheese cake for dessert. Add in a bottle of wine and tip and we spent well over $400! Very good time, though, and sometimes you need to splurge.

they are so accomodating to guests of the Ritz Carlton next door and to large boistrous crowds - steaks are awesome and sides are large and served to be shared - huge wine list and fun and tolerant staff - they stay until you leave - no pressure - great Southern Hospitality -

Dont ask for a knife when your order your steak! You wont need one! Great food, Great service! Best bar in Atlanta! And you can smoke cigars at the bar! Worth every penny for a perfect night out!!!

This is one of Atlanta’s top restaurants. This has been a difficult season for Stone Crab but I can count on New York Prime to have the very best! This time I had a colossal Stine Crab claw (9-10 ounce) for an appetizer. While known for their steaks, and I do love them, I opted for a 3 pound steamed lobster this night and it was truly exceptional - all removed from the shell table side. It keeps me coming back!!

For years I've been on a noble quest to find the best steak in Atlanta Ga. My friend recommended this place and wow was he right. The steak is without out a doubt the best! They cook it to perfection and the overall quality of the meat is spot on. Some places cook it great but the meat quality is poor, or the quality is great but they don't cook it right. NY Prime hits it all. The sides are to die for and the service is as good or better than anywhere else, but it's the steak that knocks it out. Wine list, bar, etc is top flight as you would expect, no surprise there. As with many fine steak places the steaks may come out a touch on the rare side...which most steak people like. Just know if you don't eat out at places like this it might be more rare than you want, but that's an easy fix. As for the complaints about cigars? I love cigars and this place is a gem if you want to smoke. This is kind of a guys hang out, like most steak places. So the cigars are great to me. They ventilate the bar area very, very well. But I would not take my 70 year old mom here, she would lose it. So if your ok with a little cigar smoke but want the best steak in Atlanta ....you have found it.

Great service at bar. Bone in ribeye is the best in city! paired with loaded baked. Bartenders are excellent. Atmosphere and vibe with music always makes for a relaxing evening.

Dinner was delicious the other evening on date night. The filet mignon is wonderful! The creamer spinach was a great addition to the meal. The jumbo shrimp cocktail is very filling. There was live music and a very “happening” bar area. When staying near Lenox Square or Phipps Plaza, the New York Prime restaurant is a perfect spot to choose for a night out.

I don't mind paying more for a product so long as the product and service are superior. NYP is on both acocunts.

Let me start by saying I think a dining experience is part food, part customer service. I loved the customer service this restaurant provided me. It can be a little hard to find using a GPS so when I called for the reservation, the staff member gave me details on what to plug into the GPS, what was nearby and made sure I understood how to get there before getting off the phone. The food was great. I ordered a steak, NOT Pittsburgh style but it did come back with a slight char, even with the char, I loved the steak. I went with my job so money was no object and we ordered plenty of food, from soups to salad, steak to fish and everything was fantastic...and I mean everything. One weird thing though, a co-worker ordered tomatoes and onions. It was literally 2 slices of tomato and 1 sliced raw white onion. We thought it would be marinated, served on a bed of fresh greens or diced but nope, just a plate with 2 tomato slices and a raw onion slice. If you are in a rush, let your server know. They will prepare your food more or less quickly.

Everything was on point from start to finish. Would expect nothing else from a Centraarchy restaurant. Thanks so much for making this such a memorable night for me and my wife.

New York Prime is a top shelf steakhouse; fine dining at its best. Great music entertainment and a very lively bar. One of the only places that allows cigar smoking at the bar. The sea bass is the best that I've ever had.

We have dined at this restaurant several times over the years when we attend a conference at a nearby hotel each December. Bottom line is that the food is very good, but the cigar and cigarette smoke makes it very unpleasant. Smoking is reserved for the bar area, but it was very noticeable at our table. One of our group has a problem with asthma and was in some distress at times during the meal. Why there is still a restaurant - especially an upscale one - that allows smoking indoors is quite amazing. If they want to continue this, at least they could invest in better ventilation or close off the area from other dining areas. While we've noticed the smoke on past visits, it was extremely bad this last time (and yes we sat in the same general area as we had in the past). This may have been our last year to go to this restaurant with our group because of the smoking policy.

Morgan was our excellent server. Great business dinner location. Cigar bar as well. Apps of: A Tray of Oysters were succulent and fresh, baked shrimp were very good as well as the crab cocktail.Entrees of the 40 oz. Porterhouse for 2 ($99.50), as well as 2, 22 oz rib steaks ($59.50 ea.), were all cooked to perfect temperature and delicious. At this restaurant you get what you pay for! The ambiance is wonderful. I highly recommend NY Prime.

My wife and I went there on a date night. My wife got the crab cakes and I got the New York strip. We really enjoyed the food. Our waitress (I can’t remember her name) but she was great and took real good care of us. The only complaint or critique I have for the restaurant is the music. It was really loud. So loud that my wife and I basically had to shout to hear each other. For the most part it was easier to just sit there and not talk. It was also really dark. I saw several people using the flashlights on their phones just to read the menu. So in review - great food and great service. If they would’ve turned down the music and turned on the lights I would’ve given 5 stars.

Steve is literally an icon in the Atlanta Bar scene. He serves up great drinks and knows what his patrons want even before they know it. He stashes cigars behind the bar which patrons can smoke right at the bar-why go anywhere else for perfect bar service

Entry greeted ourselves to a hostess who was checking herself out in the mirror. That was an omen for how bad this place it. Waiter seemed nice enough and initial drinks came out timely. but that was the highlight of the night. Next was the very loud music from the seventies and early eighties — great music just not at night and not at an upscale restaurant. Unfortunately, steaks came out same time after appetizer — sent them back. Bisque soup was not good as the shellfish were over cooked and rubbery (not sure what they were and no one bothered to tell us). Steaks (second time) were ok but nothing to brag about. Steak house fries were awful— one big sponge of grease. We each ate one — waiter asked about it and he said he would ask his manager to take them off the bill. They were not and waiter never mentioned it again. New York Cheesecake was just ok. Our check was there just as the coffee came. Felt hurried. 1 hour and fifteen minutes total time. Yes, we were hurried.

Always heard of NY Prime but went for the first time in February. It's kind of hidden away in the base of the Monarch Tower off Lenox Rd. It's known to be the only restaurant in Atlanta where you can smoke inside. The steak was superb and cooked perfectly. Service was a little less than attentive but it was welcomed for a business dinner. Come hungry. Portions are generous.

One of my best stakes Ive had in a while, great service, live music but the cigarets people smoke inside is terrible.

Firstly, this place still allows cigar smoking at the bar; so if you're one of those snowflakes offended by smoking, then don't bother coming here for dinner. The bar scene is usually active; mostly a place for folks over 40. During the week, the crowd is mostly businessmen. This is a steakhouse; there are some other choices, but it's about steak. The side items are big and meant to be shared. Bring a big appetite.

I would like to say my first time in Atlanta was amazing but it wasn't. New York Prime tarnished my whole trip. Coming from the north we hear stories about the racism down south but I didn't think I would see it on my first night at what I thought was a beautiful restaurant for my friends birthday. We were a party of 11 going out for dinner for my friends birthday. Most of us were her family. Because we were a group of 11 they had to split us up and the last few family members hadn't arrived yet. As soon as our table was called and we sat down our other family members (4 black men) arrived and walked to our table to find out what was going on. Immediately an employee running up and told them they had to wait outside. When the men tried to explain that they were just trying to get information about the seating before they went back out the employee kept cutting them off and said they needed to go. My friends brother was holding a water in his hand that he planned on finishing while they waited and the employee tried to take it out if his hand and said you can't have that here. Her brother was so upset that employee reached at him and tried to take his water and asked him not to touch his stuff. At that point the employer told us that he was "not going to have this here" and told us we had to leave. We got up and left, my birthday friend was mortified that they treated her like this. We got up without a word and went to Cheesecake factory where they seated the birthday girl and her family and friends. Thanks to this restaurant, my beautiful black friend had to be asked to leave on her birthday at a dinner that she was looking forward and thanks to this restaurant, they allowed me to witness Immediately in Atlanta.

Great choice. If you're looking for a great steak and exceptional service than this is the place to go. Nice bar too. Plenty of parking. Very interesting to get to. There's a street or ramp in the middle that will take you to the top. I recommend this place based on food and service.

Big restaurant with a New York steakhouse feel. Great manager who made sure everything was great- he didn't like the look of my colleague's oysters Rockefeller so he had that done over again without us asking. I got the large strip instead of the petite strip I ordered- they took me at my word- and just charged me for the petite ( this is big steak, I could only eat half of it- which was hard to do because it was so perfectly cooked.) We had very fresh oysters to start- and they just gifted us a great ice cream and cookie desert 0 the ice cream was lucious. I liked this place- the service and food were first rate. And they have a nice outdoor patio to enjoy as well. The drinks were good and seriously generous. I had planned to have a glass of wine but the first cocktail hit me so hard, I didn't order the wine for fear of falling over! So great staff, manager ,food and ambience.. what's not to love?

This dining experience was superb, the crab cakes were large and delicious and paired well with the colossal, expertly seasoned, shrimp for our appetizer, the bone in 22 oz prime ribeye and 12 oz prime filet were flawless in presentation, temperature, texture, and flavor. Served while sizzling with creamed spinach, asparagus with creamy hollandaise sauce, and fettuccine noodles with Alfredo sauce finished up the generous sized portions of our sides, the sides were incredible in flavor, presentation, and freshness. You could taste the difference in their level of ingredients which tasted as fresh as any farm to table experience and came to our table steaming hot which we enjoyed and all plates that were served were preheated which kept your food warm while we moved around the table eating different dishes and trying different flavors together, Desert was simple, but can’t be overstated how delicious simplicity can be, The plates were prechilled and the NY style cheesecake is flown in from NY, the portion is big enough for 2 and delicious with strawberries on top, very delicious. We also ordered the berries with fresh cream and once again the freshness, ripeness, and flavor of the berries blew me away, none of the berries were bitter or sour, they were visually pleasing and even more pleasing to the palate and mixed well with the cheesecake, you really dont want one without the other and the perfect homemade whipped cream had this look and taste of how you would think a cloud would taste, not to sweet, almost like a sweet neutral vanilla, that is cold like ice cream but light and fluffy at the same time, the only downside was trying to find this location as accessibility was limited due to some areas being cordoned off and google maps trying to take me to the loading dock underneath the complex, the wine was delicious and so was my old fashioned cocktail, I hope everyone’s experience in the future is as good as mine and my girlfriends and don’t hesitate to give this place a try for a dining experience that pleases all your senses, The service was great, I felt catered to and everything was very prompt and proactive, the food was served at the perfect time every time and they also played frank sinatra most of the evening which we loved and we’re both young, not really the frank sinatra demographic but it absolutely made the atmosphere, Enjoy

Stumbled on this place while searching for a cigar friendly restaurant. That is nearly impossible in todays hyper neurotic environment. Being from Virginia, in town for a conference, I couldn't believe a quality steakhouse still existed where you could smoke a good cigar without being ostracized, cast out of society and banished from human civilization. This place pulls it off wonderfully. Having the ability to smoke at the bar is a big plus. My steak was excellent and the bar service was exceptional. My sides were just the right amount. The music was a little loud, but didn't bother me much being solo. Had a good conversation with one of the bartenders who actually able to carry on a conversation without appearing forced. The smoke eaters in the bar area do a good job of moving the smoke out. My clothes didn't smell like smoke the next day. I go to Atlanta occasionally and I can say with certainty, I will be back. Kudos for not kowtowing to political correctness.

We had wonderful steaks, potato and sautéed spinach. Service was excellent! The manager went above and beyond to make sure our visit was spectacular. My only complaint is that you have to walk through the cigar smokers to be seated.

We dined at this establishment to celebrate our wedding anniversary and was extremely happy with the service and decor. The host acknowledged our celebration immediately entering the restaurant. We were greeted by our server promptly after being seated and he was very accommodating to our every need. The food was quite good and the steaks were flavorful. Pride in their service and food quality was immediately witnessed when we received our meal and one of the steaks was not cooked at the temperature ordered. The server immediately removed the steak, apologized for the mistake and put another in the queue. No questions asked. The host quickly came to the table and gave his apologies, as well. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely return to celebrate many more milestones to come.

On a visit to Atlanta with friends we decided to try this restaurant because we were in the mood for steak. Although a very popular restaurant we were fortunate to get a quick reservation. We could not have been more pleased. It goes without saying that the food was fantastic. Each of the three of us picked a different entree and all were very pleased. My rib eye was exceptional. It came out on a very hot plate and was prepared just right. The service was exceptionally attentive and our drinks were frequently refreshed without having to ask. The prices are not cheap by any means but you get what you pay for and more. If you are looking for something special I encourage you to give it a try.

The restaurant is beautiful and the ambience was great. The good was mid for what you pay. The steak is excellent, however the sided are average or below average at best. The asparagus were plain not a lot of flavor, creamed spinach was not good and the mashed potatoes were fair...the chocolate cake was ok but to be honest too sweet and a little dry.

As a 20 -something with extra to spend on unique experiences, I had no issues spending $200+ here to celebrate with my beautiful valentine. I was worried about the place being pretentious, but that was not the case this Friday night. The center cut steak was amazing, but my poor judgment led me to the 12 ounce which I couldn't finish (would get 8 ounce next time). The apple "pie" was amazing. Our waiter was an older gentleman with a great sense of humor and endearing charm. The overall atmosphere felt like I was an extra in a Great Gatsby movie or something, something about the caliber of people dining here impressed me. Plan to come again one-day! The food is fantastic, but maybe not the best I've ever had. Although, I would rank this as a top 5 dining EXPERIENCE ever!

I was in Atlanta on business and met an associate at New York Prime for dinner. From start to finish it was an exceptional experience. The food was and service were absolutely top shelf. While the prices are in the upper tier, they justify them by giving you an experience to remember.

Walked in the door and knocked down by the cigar and cigarette smoke! This was a team dinner and immediately felt nauseated by the smell. The group was all surprised that what was perceived as such a nice place for a team gathering was a smoking environment. The bar area where there was significant cigar and cigarette smoking was in no way separated from the main dining areas. The food, however, was excellent and our service as expected. When I got home, I had to shower and change to get rid of the smell. What was especially concerning was that a member of our group has asthma and if it weren't for being a team event, we both would have left immediately.

Leaving aside how difficult it is to find the place there were just too many negatives. And, even ignoring the unpleasant smell of cigar and cigarette smoke that is still not extracted properly, there are too many negatives and at the high prices this should not happen. For example, oysters were less tasty than classic New England ones; the medium rare Pittsburgh style cooked steak was less juicy and tasty than on the last visit; the steak fries were left by almost all being stodgy, lacking the fluffy texture and taste of better potato varieties and lacking any external crispiness. Service was friendly but communications need to be improved. For example, a request for a larger plate was met with a blank look that have no hint of understanding leading to inaction requiring gruff manager intervention. Similarly order omission was weakly explained away. And table clearing was poor despite a finished- with plate being left deliberately prominently for clearance. And why did it take so long for the bread baskets to appear? Overall, no encouragement to think improvement is likely without management changes

My wife and I celebrated her birthday at New York Prime and we are glad that we did. I have eaten at the New York Prime in Boca Raton, Florida a few years back so I knew what to expect. The steaks were coked to perfection, the sides were delicious and the atmosphere was perfect. The restaurant presented my wife with a birthday treat and i had the cheese cake. Everything at New York Prime is something to remember. The desserts are large as are the sides and the main course. We came here expecting the best and that is exactly what we got.. I read a few reviews of the smoke. We were in the main dining room about as far from the bar as you can get and we had no idea that people were smoking. I walked by the bar a few time and although it is unusual to smell smoke in a restaurant these days the smoke aroma was very faint and we were there on a Saturday evening from 6 to 8.

The restaurant has valet service and is located off the opulent marble lobby of the Monarch Tower building. The decor was exquisite with grand circular lighting fixtures and abounding in large mirrors. The tables and booths were set with fine linen table clothes and black or white napkins that the waiter ensures compliment your clothing. We were seated in a corner booth that suited us well. There is also outside seating options available. The bar is adjacent to the fine dining area. The recorded and live music was so loud we had to rearrange the seating at our table so that most of our attempted conversations didn’t include the phrase “What did you say?”. For our family of three to eat family style, we ordered a 40 oz Porter Steak, a Loaded Potato, a 1/2 order of Onion Straws, Garlic Spinach and Fettuccine Alfredo. We chose to share a Butter Cake with Ice Creme served separately for desert. They brought out a nice basket of a variety of breads including raisin bread, sourdough bread, a toasted raisin bread with a hint of cinnamon, and butter to enjoy while we waited for our entrées to be prepared. They brought out everything for our main course on a serving cart and even prepared the Fettuccine Alfredo table-side. They gave us an education about the 40oz Porterhouse as they served it. A center "T-Shaped Bone" divides two sides of the porterhouse steak. On one side of the bone is a tenderloin filet and on the other side is a top loin which is better known as the New York Strip steak. The huge potato was perfectly cooked and fully loaded, the garlic spinach was awesome, the onion straws were a crunchy delight, the Fettuccine Alfredo was a delicious pasta compliment to all the other foods. Needless to say, we ordered way too much and still wanted to experience their Butter Cake so we brought a lot of it home with us to enjoy later. If I were to rate the New York Prime on a 100% scale, I would rate our experience a 95%.

Great service and delicious food. Shadrach was our server and he was excellent. Great wine by the glass and bottle menus. The Caesar salads were delicious and plentiful. Our filets were done perfectly (Medium + for a pink center). The southwestern cream style corn was a bit too spicy for us, and the grilled brussels sprouts could’ve used some balsamic glaze for flavoring. I would’ve loved to have seen some Mac-n-cheese on the menu of sides. Really liked this place, but would’ve preferred the music to be a little more Michael Bublé and a little less loud 80’s, especially given the prices, but maybe that’s not the intent of a NY steak house. Dinner for two with drinks, 2 sides and tip will run you close to $300.

Our group of 8 had a reservation a few days before Christmas (busy!) . There is valet parking. We were seated on time and there was a full house. The atmosphere was classic steakhouse, yet unpretentious and had a fun energy with great music at a perfect volume. I have been here 2x before on dates and sat in a booth, they are lovely and I highly reccomend asking for a booth if at all possible. Our party of 8 had a table in the middle of a busy floor and it was still ok. Our order was taken promptly and great dinner and drink suggestions were offered from our server. We had oysters and the biggest shrimp cocktail and stone crabs I’ve ever seen for apps. Also served: warm fresh bread. In our group we had NY strips, salmon, Crabcakes, Ribeye, Filet- each dish came out the perfect temperature. The salads were split table side from our server (Jack) who also shook our cocktails and served them table side. The quality of the entire dinner was exceptional. We were full but decided on chocolate cake anyway and the serving was big enough for all 8 of us. Wow! Don’t hesitate to book your party, large or small at this Buckhead gem.

We were very excited about our dinner reservations at this restaurant but was quickly soured by the cigar smoke that permeated the main dining room. We were seated in a corner booth at the end of the room as requested but after a few minutes was finding it hard to breath and could only "taste smoke". The server for that table graciously moved us outside as the one room where the smoke would have been less was reserved. After breathing in 'fresh air' the dinner was wonderful. The starters, oysters rockefeller and beef carpaccio, were absolutely delicious! Then our entrees- filet and ribeye were very tasty..fortunately our server ( loved him!!) warned us about the sizes of the sides so that we didnt end up having too much left over. Finishing the night was a wonderful dessert that the restaurant gave us in celebration of our anniversary. Thank you for making our anniversary so nice!!

As a red meat lover and business traveler I have eaten at many, many "high end" steakhouses over the past 25 years and I have to sincerely say this is my favorite. From the excellent steaks, to the awesome service (granted I do eat at the bar 80% of the time) everything is 5 star. I read the comments regarding cigar smoke and I agree at the bar you will notice is but it is slight and I do not notice it at all in the restaurant. The ventilation system is excellent. For the record I am a non smoker and also for the record, Hal's and Bones are extremely nice as well but NY Prime is my go to spot when I really want to relax with a great piece of beef!

To walk into a restaurant with cigar smoke - how completely gross The manager was rude as we tried to get a table The food was decent but overpriced Buckhead - many more options that are better

The service is great, but there’s a loooong time between courses. Be aware it’s a smoky bar with live music that has some tables attached. NOT the Capital Grille for sure. Sides were outstanding, desserts were good, although the coffee wasn’t. The steaks, however, were not good. Prep was fine, but the quality of the meat (16 Oz strip) was nowhere near Prime. We had two at our table and both left them unfinished. For $50 a steak, I get better at ... well, nearly anywhere. Stringy, chewy, veiny — this was not a good piece of meat, let alone high-end. Neither was the other one we got. Avoid...

Classic steakhouse with amazing, flawless service! My partner & I celebrated our 10th anniversary together here and were pleasantly surprised. The steaks were cooked to perfection. We enjoyed appetizers and split a dessert as well. There was a very entertaining guy playing classic songs and he took requests as well. We're not smokers but we knew this was a cigar bar atmosphere and knowing that prepared us so it wasn't an issue. We will be back!

My wife and I went to NY Prime for our 14 year anniversary and what a disappointment. As many have said, please get detailed direction before you go as it can be quite confusing. After a few tries with our eyes and GPS, we called and were given directions by one of the owners. Once we finally made it, the same owner seated us and laughed about how many numerous times he has had to given direction in all their years at that location. Seems like if customers have been struggling for years, wouldn't it make sense to address that when oyu make a reservation or on the website not as people are frustrated and pulling in on two wheels? As you walk in, you are hit in the face with an entire bar of people smoking. To the folks who said you can sit far away and not notice, they are not being truthful. You can smell it outside before you enter and everywhere inside too. Once seated, the service was fantastic. Very prompt and pleasurable. I read the menu as it spent an entire page telling me about the money I was about to spend and why I should spend it willingly on this "Mercedes" experience. Outside of the steak, the food was more of a Pinto experience. the salad had a sour taste, I have had better steamed spinach at Houston's, and the whipped topping on the Banana Cream Pie was still frozen. While the 8oz. filet my wife ordered was Pittsburgh style and cooked perfectly, my 12oz. filet was under cooked. Again, if you are gonna advertise as the upper echelon of steakhouses, could you at least cook the gorgeous piece of $60 meat correctly? Great cut of meat, mediocre sides, a dirty spoon, terrible directions and smelling like an ashtray the rest of the night did not give me the "Mercedes" experience I was looking for. Save your money and go somewhere else where the price is more in line with what is being offered.

The server was extremely attentive and was full of personality. The food arrived with enough time to enjoy each course and each item was served hot from the kitchen. The Brussels sprouts were cooked perfectly and the creamed spinach was nice and rich. The dirty martinis were excellent especially because of the blue cheese stuffed olives! Three servers delivered the lobster and removed the shell table side before serving with hot drawn butter. Wonderful steakhouse experience!

Bartender excellent! Food very good! Dress codes NOT enforced at all. Customers in T Shirts, Baseball Hats turned backwards, children under 5 years old in restaurant at 9:30....Management looks the other WAY ???

Probably the best meal I've ever had.. Seriously I expected the food to be good but far exceeded my expectations. I had the filet and hubby had the Sea Bass.... I cant say enough about the quality of the food... The atmosphere was a busy quiet with music playing in background enough to add ambience. Service is equally amazing, maybe not very personal but very professional.

We were invited to join another couple here for dinner. This was one of the worst dining experiences I can remember in a long time. We walked in the door and the entire restaurant was filled with cigar smoke. The bar and restaurant are just a large open room and the band playing in the bar was so loud we could not have a conversation at the our table without yelling. The servers are in a hurry and not very friendly. The wine list if mediocre in comparison to the entrée prices. I had a double veal chop and it was unclear as to what made it double. I actually seemed on the smaller side for the almost $50 price tag and the quality was average. The dishes are ala carte so add another chuck of change if you want a side. Had we not been joining others, we would have left...

What a great steakhouse. Our waiter, Lawrence, was excellent. We shared the center cut filet and had 1/2 portions of several sides. All the sides were delicious. Steak was charred rare and top notch. Service excellent. Wine choices were varied and also top notch. Ambiance great. A must in Atlanta.

Big fat guy at the bar smoking a big fat cigar and this is lawful?? Don't care how good the food and service was and both were I will not go back to a restaurant that allows smoking. Waiter said they had gig tech filter system too bad it doesn't get the smoke out.

Bobby and Mark did a great job and went above and beyond in making our dining experience perfect! We enjoyed our meal and dinner outing.

Underwhelming, loud, pretentious and full of cigar smoke. Other than that, the food was 'decent' as a premium price. If the music doesn't drowned out your conversation (and it will), the crowded, smokey bar area is enough to keep most people away. At these prices, I was expecting so much better (top 10 steak house in Atlanta???). Yikes!

This is a supurb steakhouse. BUT....the indoor cigar smoke was such a turn-off. I was grateful the weather was nice so our business group could sit outside during our visit.

First we valet parked which is completely! Then we walked through the cigar smoke and arrived in a smoke free room... We were served appetizers by the table oysters raw , Rockefeller, jumbo shrimp. The servers were all hands on deck fast and friendly! Then my wife and I both had salmon omg with portobello mushrooms! The best ever in my life good . The red wine was top shelf ! Our entire group had a very pleasant experience! No complaints at all!!!!

First time diner at New York Prime in Atlanta. The food was exceptional. Our steaks were served perfectly to our specifications. The salads were fresh and tasty and sides were delicious. Finally, Michael and his staff, led by Lawrence provided superior service.

Outstanding food!! Truly the best steak I've ever had. The service is impeccable as well! I would absolutely rate this a 5 star restaurant had it not been for the insane amount of smoke in the establishment. I was so surprised that a high end restaurant like this allows smoke in the restaurant. It is only in the bar area but the problem is the bar is exposed to the entire restaurant and the smoke travels. I left the restaurant feeling like I had smoked at least 2 packs of cigarettes and I've never smoked in my life. The next day I had a terrible headache and was coughing constantly. Not to mention my clothes wreaked of smoke. If you don't mind smoke then this is an outstanding establishment. However I will not return due to the amount of smoke. It totally ruined my meal. Also it is very noisy in the restaurant so it's not the best place for a business meeting which was why I was there. It was very hard to hear and was quite a challenge to carry on a conversation.

We had a 7:15 reservation and we’re not seated after an hour, so we left. (After no resolution from management) If you are understaffed then do not over book. Completely unprofessional. However we did walk over to Davio’s and their steak was AMAZING! Megan Johnson, please do better as a manager at New York Prime.

We had an exceptional meal. The food and cocktails were top-notch topped bottom I felt the quality was on par with the best steakhouses in Atlanta including Bones our server Jake and his team were particularly attentive and there were a lot of details to make the Meil feel as for sure you were in a five star restaurant, black napkins side split at the table cocktails serve with Purper perfection and tableside surprisingly, I really enjoyed this restaurant.

Walking into the restaurant in Buckhead, you can’t help but notice the smell of cigar smoke. If that bothers you, go elsewhere! I was able to overlook it and had an amazing steak and the oyster Rockefeller appetizer was simply amazing. We had a great wine selection and our group of 10 had a wonderful dinner. This restaurant is a little noisy so it will be hard to speak to everyone at a table that large. There is outdoor seating and tonight would have been a beautiful night for doing but we did not see seating for a group. Wonderful live music near the bar. This restaurant is beautiful inside and the service is tops.

We went for dinner and it was wonderful! Complementary valet parking greets you and as you enter you meet the bar complete with a wonderful selection of single malt scotchs and the ability to have a cigar. We were met and once we introduced ourselves our names were never forgotten. The server was quick and attentive to each and every of our needs. Their Brooklyn French dressing is a house made and is amazing blend of sweet and spice. The steaks were perfectly cooked with a butter base on the plate. Dessert recommendation: the banana cream pie! Live entertainment, who could ask for more?!?

The food at this place was arguably the best I have ever partaken. The prices are outrageous but according to the menu, the owners make no apology for their ridiculous prices. The reasons for my rating are that I was totally taken back by the cigar smoke in the place. It seemed that everyone except our group was smoking huge stogies at the same time while at the bar and at every table. I am a cigar smoker and I was nearly smoked out of the place by the thick cloud of second hand smoke. I can smoke in my car and not create this kind of atmosphere. Unless you want a cigar with your dinner, stay out of this place. I cannot remember how long it has been since I encountered this much smoke in an eatery. I was shocked. I thought it was illegal to have cigar smoking in a GA restaurant. The other issue was the band. While the live music was a nice touch, the excessive volume overwhelmed any ability to conduct a conversation. In the end, we all suffered through our excellent dinner while choking on cigar smoke unable to carry on a normal conversation. I would not go back to this place if it was free. Even cigar stores have ventilation systems capable of getting the majority of the cigar smoke out of the place. I have never seen anything this bad.

A fantastic old school steakhouse with a great bar and cigar bar. Great food, great atmosphere, great drinks, great cigars. What else could you ask for ?

We have eaten here multiple time while passing through Atlanta and have never been disappointed. Drinks from the bar through desert they really know how to treat you and the food does not let you down.

I give this place 3 stars for one reason alone...the smoke. The food here is great. Really great. But this is the only restaurant I have seen in years (in the US) that allows smoking. You will walk in, eat some great food and leave smelling like an ash tray. For some this will be a plus, but I despise cigars/cigarettes so it is not for me.

I've eaten here many times and the food is great. However, I want to write about Steve, who tends the bar. He will remember you and your drink before you remember his name again. He pours a healthy drink and makes a great martini. He is also the most personable person you could meet all while tending a very busy and popular drinking spot among Atlanta's power elite.

I enjoy New York Prime. I think it's one of the best steak restaurants in Atlanta. Prime beef. The bar is always a happening scene even on a Wed night at 6pm. Classy live music is the best. The Baked Garlic shrimp appetizer is a favorited. Baked with breadcrumbs loaded garlic and butter. Amazing. The baked potato is humongous. Make sure to split it and get it loaded. That bacon topping awesome. I prefer the 10oz prime New York strip. One of the few restaurants that serve up a smaller tasty strip. B Desert get the White Chocolate Banana Cream pie with pecan shortbread crust. Awesomeness. Be aware it's a cigar bar so there is cigar smoke. Enjoy. Tell Bobby Dolan that I sent you.

Needed food on a Wed night after an Atlanta United game...the steak, oysters and ala carte sides were quite good...so too were the cocktails and wine. Only real ding is that the decor needs a little refreshing...bathrooms were more like a Buckhead bar, than a swank steak joint. Minor concern considering we ate dinner at 10PM+ and went home happy!

This place was recommended to us for a great steak. I will say the steak was great but a steak and baked potato for $80 is a bit pricey. Add to it the place smelled of bad cigar smoke not for me at least a great way to enjoy a meal Service was good. But when they brought out a 13 pound Maine lobster in a wagon I about lost it. First of all Maine does not legally allow taking a lobster this size. So to state it was a “Maine” lobster is a lie! Second is if ethical to wheel a live lobster about the dining area in a wagon? What’s next drag a cow through? Hope no one from PETA ever shows up for a meal. Over all I could not recommend anyone eat at this place.

First, this is a cigar bar, but cigars are not allowed in the eating area, and there is fantastic ventilation in the restaurant. Neither my husband nor I smoke, and we didn't find the cigar smoke to be distracting beyond the initial shock that you could smoke inside a restaurant! This was actually our second time at New York Prime, and both experiences were out of this world phenomenal. We will try to come here every time we visit Atlanta from now on. The food and service is so good you literally do not want to experience to end. It's sad when you're too full to eat anymore! We had the filet, the fettuccine alfredo (made tableside with FRESH pasta!), the 1/2 onion rings and 1/2 french fries, and the ceasar salad. Everything was phenomenal. I would recommend all of it. Additionally, the service is what you would expect at this price point. Very attentive, but not annoyingly so. Just enough to make it the perfect dining experience. I would absolutely recommend this gem of a restaurant. It is the best food you'll ever eat.

Always great food and service. Enjoyed wonderful service from Kelly and Cliff at the bar. Ordered the wedge salad and crab cakes. The crab cakes are the best in the city. Thanks for another great evening at NY Prime

excellent meal, great service, loved the martinis! Joined business associates, we assembled at the bar prior to our reservation and moved to the dining area. Visitors from New York and Savannah were impressed.

Food was decent, cigar bar and cigarette smoking at a table near us was disgusting. They should have paid me to eat there.

I went to New York Prime with the intention of booking this venue for a group dinner for 100 lawyers. The food was delish, however the cigarette and cigar smoking was nauseating. We were seated at a table as far away from the main bar as possible and the smell of smoke was still lingering in the air . We enjoyed our food, but I can never take a group here for a meal because of the smoking. Too bad, as it is very close to our hotel (Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead).

What a fabulous dinner!! We tried the Caesar, wedge and apple arugula salads to start..::all wonderful! Our table tried the NY strip, filet and bone-in ribeyes. All were cooked to perfection and the char on the steaks was extra-tasty. Creamed spinach, cheesy mashed potatoes, and sautéed mushrooms were more than enough to share! We split a white-chocolate banana cream pie to cap the night! Excellent service as well! PS....new ordinance in Atlanta, so no smoke like many precious reviews complained about.

We had a wonderful time at NY Prime. From our bacon appetizer to the fantastic filets, everything we ordered came out deliciously, perfectly prepared. Our boys also had the chocolate chip cookie and ice cream dessert, and they ate every single bite! The service was extremely good—our every need was met before we could even ask! The servers were also great with our kids. We hope to return soon!

New York Prime will always hold a special place in my heart! it’s where I got engaged. The ambiance was elegant, the service flawless, and the evening unforgettable. It wasn’t just dinner, it was the beginning of forever.

Not sure why i chose "discreet" to describe my experience but it really does seem to desribe the ambience in the restaurant. While the crowd was lively and the restaurant and bar area were filled with warm bodies and chatter I felt like my visit was strictly about my visit. The service was impeccable and not too pretentious. I shared oyster rockefeller, bone-in rib steak with sauteed mushrooms and cheese mash potatoes and quite a few cocktails with my friend. Along with phenomenal conversation, the meal made my experience during this first visit to this location above average. Will definitely return!

I am always up for a great steak. This was an exceptional experience for food, beverage and entertainment. The staff was fantastic, paid very close attention to me and my questions and made some insightful recommendations.

We were seated at our reservation time. As we indicated in our previous review, the bar area is nice, but there is cigar smoke. However, you do not smell that in the dining area. There are booths, and the tables are far enough apart so you do not feel jammed into a space. The waiter arrived promptly and took our drink orders. Service throughout the meal was excellent. The food here was cooked to order. The appetizers of baked shrimp, bacon, onion rings, and shrimp cocktail were all delicious. The entrees were cooked to order, including the ribeye and filet. The redfish with crabmeat was delicious and is highly recommended. The side dishes of creamed spinach, creamed corn and baked potato were all good. The steak fries were the only thing we found to be average, and don't recommend. While the service was good, we did not like the waiter serving the side dishes to our plates, since we prefer they be put in the middle of the table and we can serve ourselves. However, that is a personal preference. Even though we were full, we found room for the Saturday Sundae dessert, and did not regret that at all. The valet service was also good. If you are in the area make a reservation and you will not be disappointed.

Dined at the bar this weekend Steak was cooked to perfection. Excellent service by Ashley at the bar. A must dine in Buckhead

We had booked a table via open table, but when we got there on time, there were at least 10 more people waiting. Everyone was served on “first come first served” basis. After an hour !!! of waiting we got in a very noisy room. We ordered a medium- rare tomahawk steak, which came totally burnt in the outside and rather pink inside. I expected better for such an expensive restaurant.

All of the food was excellent. The Shellfish Bisque was one of the best I have ever experienced, creamy and well-seasoned. I had the petite ribeye filet, which was tender and perfectly cooked. The staff was polite, service was timely without being overbearing. The entertainment was excellent - soft and well-performed music that did not intrude on conversation. The performer was very talented. The perfect way to spend a rainy Sunday evening.

I have eaten here a handful of times, and every time i leave, i feel it's been one of the best meals i have had in months. Not only are their steaks excellent, but what sets them apart from other steak houses in Atlanta is everything else you get along with your steak is amazing as well. The cold seafood platter appetizer was excellent, as were the sides of mashed potatoes that accompanied my steak. I'd highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal.

This is one of the finest restaurants in Atlanta. In a word, it's decadent. You will be very well taken care of, from the service, to the size of the shrimp, to the careful preparation of the steak. If you are a seafood lover, enjoy the sea bass - magnificent. Cigars are allowed (did I mention decadent?) but sitting on the perimeter of the restaurant or in one of the more private rooms will allow you to enjoy the lively atmosphere and meal if that is a bother. Enjoy - I have been coming for years with friends and clients alike.

This was my third visit to New York Prime. Reminds me of what Steakhouses were years ago. Great Food, Great Bar and so nice to enjoy a good cigar after dinner. If you don't like cigars go a Outback lol. Seriously the atmosphere, service and food are the best in Atlanta !! See you next month

First, the service is over the top! But the food is beyond excellent. Loved the Redfish Amandine! Be sure to try the Onion Rings! And for dessert, don't miss the Butter Cake with Ice Cream. It is to die for!

On Friday, October 25th, my husband and I were looking for a relaxing spot with delicious food, and I chose New York Prime. We were first time diners. I believe that first impressions are crucial, and the personable and friendly hostess made a very positive first impression of the establishment. The live music was a pleasant surprise. The filet we ordered was to die for, with a tasty crust and great flavor – it was perfectly prepared. The crab cocktail was generous and fresh, and we also enjoyed the Caesar salad. We received superlative customer service from our server, Mr. Scott S, who was professional, knowledgeable, and entertaining. Highly recommend dining at New York Prime.

Went with a group of 14 (convention crowd). Seated immediately with great service. Food was awesome but service is their shining star. A few of us stayed for an after dinner drink. Bartender mixed a great side car and cigar selection was more than adequate. Entertainment that evening was the "Sons of Alice". Catch this duo when you can - amazing talent. Can't go wrong in Buckhead at New York Prime!

Great atmosphere and staff is super friendly. My husband and I are definitely coming back. They even remembered to congratulate my husband on his job promotion.

Noisy lot at the bar. Professional welcome. Cigar smoke all around....This is such a snobbish posh restaurant that smoking is allowed (encouraged??). Well, have you ever..... We were a group of five, going for the steaks. Admitted, we were warned... the steaks were Pittburg style... meaning a bit charred. They were also Vanderbilt style: darned expensive. I had a better and MUCH cheaper) steak in Little Switzerland (NC). All in all it was an experience, but I could easily live without. This restaurant is for snobs with too much money. There is a niche for everything. The meat was pretty good, but 40 dollars for a small steak... too much!

Portions are very large the steak was one of the best I've ever had. We also had the shrimp appetizer - they were colossal size tasted like lobster. The creamed spinach was very very good we topped it off with key lime pie...all was incredible. The atmosphere was very nice loved the bar and the decor.....we walked from our hotel at the Mandarin Oriental it was perfect.

I've been here a half dozen times and gotten lost trying to find my car afterwards every time. That doesn't detract from the taste of a good steak and excellent wine selections. Stephen, behind the bar, has a fabulous personality and pours an excellent drink.

Staff was wonderful and the food was great. I was just thoroughly disgusted when I walked in because of the cigar smell! I happened to be starving so I just waited for the bread (which was amazing) and by the time I started eating I forgot about the smell. Until I went to give my husband a hug as we left and I could smell the smoke all over him. If you don't mind the smoke, this is a great place to eat! But there are plenty of amazing steakhouses that are smoke-free in the area that I would recommend ahead of NY Prime.

I went with a large group and our service was impeccable. Wait staff were extremely knowledgeable and helpful and made excellent suggestions. My steak was cooked to perfection (8 oz filet). Because we were a large group, we were able to sample a few different sides.. asparagus, cheese potatoes, lyonaise potatoes, creamed spinach... all were excellent. There were approximately 25 of us and all of our meals came at the same time, which is appreciated, but doesn't always happen with a large group. I would highly recommend this restaurant and would go back in a heartbeat if I was in the area again

I'm unhappy if my prime NY Strip isn't charred. Here is a top tier steakhouse that actively markets that their prime steaks are minimally aged (28 days - not gamey) and prepared "Pittsburgh-style with a charred exterior." Have been 3 times and will continue to visit when in town.

Had a great dinner here last night. Lauren was excellent and food never disappoints! Love the atmosphere and attitude of the staff! Always grab a bar seat unless you are neurotic about cigar smoke because people can smoke at the bar but it's managed well with extractors!

We were seated at our reservation time. The booths here are large and offer a little more privacy. Upon entering, you definitely took notice of the cigars and smoke. If that bothers you, then you would not enjoy the bar area. However, once we were in the dining area we didn't really notice the smell or the smoke any more. There were tables that were closer to the bar area where you might notice the smoke, but just make sure to request a table or booth farther away from the bar. The service was prompt and courteous. The entrees, including the filet, lamb, and ribeye, were all delicious and cooked to order. The side dishes of green beans, corn, and lyonnaise potatoes were all tasty. If you are in the area, you will not be disappointed with your dining experience here.

Above average but very pricey. Steaks are some of the best we've had but the sides are less desirable as they are way too much for one person & they tend to not tell you this. Music is nice and cocktails are good. The place is hard to find especially when using GPS and if you end up parking in the Monarch Towers deck, good luck finding your way out, it's tricky and cost $ 9.00 for about an hour.

Arrived with a friend to have dinner. We have a good time at the bar, on which we have dinner. Everybody was very servicial and taking care of details. Steaks were cooked to the right term and delicious.

This is one of the best restaurants in Atlanta; especially, if you enjoy incredible food, consistently great service, and a romantic atmosphere. There is great music nightly in the bar area. The bar allows cigar smoking; this may be a drawback for some people, but it definitely adds to the atmosphere. They have very attentive staff and bartenders. Reservations are highly recommended. Bring a big appetite as the portions are gigantic.

Everything was exceptional and top notch. our waiter Rodney provided the best experience from food, drink and desert selection. the food was delicious and great atmosphere. please request Rodney as the GOAT!!

MAde reservations here at 5 O'clock for a 7 O'clock dinner on Labor Day and was treated like a regular. The service is excellent as well as the steaks and wine list.

I'm glad we decided to stay for our meal because it wound up being one of the best we have ever had in Atlanta but allow me to tell you the whole story... We did not realize this was a cigar/cigarette friendly smoking bar... Which translates into, when you first walk into the restaurant, the very first thing you see and smell, is a bar area full of people smoking cigarettes and cigars. Ashtrays are all over the bar. You see and smell... Smoke. It is nasty and gross. I'm sorry, when was the last time you went to a restaurant and saw anyone smoking??? So that being said, we could have went right to our table but we wanted to not rush the evening so we went to the opposite side of the bar which was unoccupied, and ordered our drinks. Which brings me to the next tacky part of the evening- the bartenders...(clearly I really wanted to have this steak because if I was in my right mind, I would have left after this.) The poor bartenders were wearing CORSETS- What the what? They looked so trashy and tacky. Laced up on the back, their breasts falling out... Truly awful. I thought this was supposed to be one of Atlanta's top restaurants...we get our check and Bobby (who is wonderful) takes us to our fabulous corner table... Appetizers- the Bacon. We have had something similar at Peter Lugars in New Jersey so we had high expectations... First go around was crash and burn. The bacon was hard, chewy, and cold. The waited didn't seem to think so but when I told him about my comparison, and showed him what I was talking about, he asked if we wanted to get one more bacon... Um, no. We had 3 tough, dried out pieces of pork that we would like replaced, really ???? So- 2nd go around, we received 3 slices of hot, crispy, buttery, juicy, cooked to perfection bacon. Thank you. Just wish they could have done that the first go around. Ceasar salad- Divine. Garlicy, creamy, nice bite to the dressing. Great job. Oysters in half shell- slam dunk New York Strip- BEST STEAK IN ATLANTA!!! Totally worth the smoky bar and trashy bartenders. Steak was crispy on outside with a nice salty taste and the inside was super juicy and aged and had the too die for flavor I had heard about. Yes, I would definitely return for this steak!!!! Cheese Potato- Super delicious with the steak. Cheesy crust and creamy potatoes.... Worth every calorie. Mushrooms- really good. Roasted and flavorful. Great with the steak and potatoes. Dessert- (yes, we saved room for dessert also) Chocolate chip cookie and vanilla ice cream. Other items will tempt you but trust me, this is hands down, the best cookie ever. Crispy and warm on the outside, chocolatey, toffee, gooey heaven on the inside. Result? We would return and head straight to the table. Great meal. Thanks Bobby!

The atmosphere is awesome. Trendy without being "real wives of Atlanta" trashy. HAs more of a Rat Pack feel - which I love. The bartenders (Steve and Stephen) are also wonderful. The steaks are to DIE FOR- well aged, cooked to perfection. And the Caesar Salad is just too delicious. Wine list is GREAT- but they need to add more varieties of well priced sparkling wines and craft beers. I also REALLY love that they are Cigar friendly in the bar are-THANK YOU!!! My only complaint is that they recently added female bartenders in Corsets...Bobby- Really???? Bad idea and offensive too.

Immediately hit by the cigar smoke as you walked in the door, then noticed cigarette smoking a bit later. Had we known would not have come and for sure would not go back. Enjoy your male clientele!

A classic steakhouse in Atlanta that makes you feel welcome when step inside the door. Atmosphere is perfect & the food is exceptional.

This is a opportunity to revisit the past! Before Mortons there was a New York Steak House, this is that place! Fully equipped with entertainment large baked potatoes creamed spinach and did I mention fantastic beef. The New York Steak very good the double cut veal chop even better! Served with a smile and a Southern accent!

6 of us went here last night 12/26 to have a really nice dinner, with a more upmarket restaurant to celebrate my sons 21st birthday. We had called ahead to see if they had outdoor seating and was told yes, they did. When we arrived we were taken to a makeshift 'patio' which was enclosed with large, clear tarp, and which a few 'Lawn Tables" (I swear - we were literally sitting amongst metal lawn chairs and tables. The little led lamps on the tables, would not stay lit. This was due, per our waiter, to the fact that none (on any table) had been charged. This 'patio' sat adjacent to the bar and loud, and I mean loud, music was playing such that we couldn't talk and hear each other. I am soooo disappointed I chose this place for dinner. It had great ratings and reviews, so I took it to be a good restaurant. Again, I am so disappointed, and angry due to what we paid. Others clearly had a better experience than we did, but what pathetic memories we have of this dinner. To the manager last night, I would be ashamed you would allow this to happen! I would love to know what he/she has to say. I don't think there is anything they can say. For ambiance, beautiful dinner, overall atmosphere and food, go somewhere like Bones, Capital Grill, or Frankie's in Sugarloaf. If only I had thought to take photos.

Still one of the top steak places in town. all food & service are great. Too bad they still alow smoking at bar, which is near dinning area.

Had the pleasure of dining here earlier this week. The food was fantastic. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. The service was perfect.

Sister location to the Myrtle Beach location of same name. Same consistent service and menu are almost identical If you love a god steak and a great atmosphere to smoke a cigar then this is your heaven Service is top notchSteak cooked perfectly to order. Must try the garlic shrimp appetizer

Unfortunately the website doesn't let you know it's a smoking restaurant. The smokers are at the 'bar', that's not separate from the dining area. Perhaps if there was adequate ventilation, our dining experience would've been more relaxing. We did try to switch to Bones, but they were booked. The service was excellent, the food was okay. My husbands steak was too salty, baked potato was over cooked and the cheese cake was dry. The location is challenging to find, and wasn't worth the effort to find.

Best steak and service I have ever had. Was a great experience. Very good staff friendly and very informative.

Ate here recently, I haven't been here in about 5 years. But used to come on a regular basis when we lived in the ATL before. First off, this place has a great bar scene and very good ambience. They really make you feel like a valued customer. Now the menu, they offer a good variety of steaks and chops. The problem is that they are very overpriced for what they offer. Had a New York Strip, medium rare. Was not the that great. My wife had a Filet Mignonn, that she was less than pleased with. My feeling is that if I can cook a great steak at home, then for $50, this had better be a damn good steak. It wasn't.

We had an outstanding dinner with great food and service. Food was prepared as ordered. Drinks were good and the drink menu was extensive. They have a good wine list and prices are all over the place but you can find some values on their list. We will return in the future

Went with friends to this very nice, high class steakhouse. We made reservations (highly recommended) for 8:15 earlier in the day and when we arrived we were offered the mod or or outdoor seating and of course we chose outdoor because it was a beautiful evening. However, the manager on duty recommended a very nice private booth instead because a big storm was rolling in and he didn’t want us to get soaked (thank you!). Our waitress was Jaya and she was wonderful, very nice and very engaging. We ordered the Tomahawk steak and shared it between myself and my wife and it was perfection.! 😋Thanks to everyone at the Steakhouse for our wonderful experience and look forward to returning.

We came here for our wedding anniversary and it was close to our hotel. First, the service was completely outstanding from top to bottom. The food, all the courses, were excellent. My husband had the bone in ribeye and I had the redfish. Both were perfection. You must get the cheesy mashed potatoes as well. The only complaint I do have is that if you do not like a smoke filled environment, please go elsewhere. It is very strong.

I took my husband here for dinner during our stay in Atlanta for Father's Day. It was our 1st time eating at this restrautant, but to my surprise the smell of cigars hit us hard at the front door! At 1st I thought someone was smoking cigars outside the door until we went inside. This restaurant is known for it's bandy and cigar bar. So, if you are like me and don't like the smell of cigars smoke you might not want to eat here. But it was my husband's day so it was ok. We sat in the far back and to be honest the smoke was not that noticeable. However, our meal was excellent! My husband had the NY stripe and I had the salmon the portions were a nice size too! It is also a la cart. We will definitely eat here again. Might have to give it some thought because of the cigars smell.

Went for a work event and Jordan was the reason I would come back over and over again! He exceeded expectations and provided outstanding service. Friendly, outgoing and kind too! Much more than I could have asked for attending the event. In addition to the amazing staff, the food and drinks were delicious. Not to mention with the beautiful weather, the patio is a great spot to decompress after work. I inquired about future events and the managers came right over to show me the space options. Can’t wait to work with them again soon - you should visit ASAP as you won’t regret it.

My neighbor has been coming here for years and recommended it to us. I made a reservation for myself and my husband to celebrate his birthday. I read many reviews before and one of the biggest complaints was the cigar smoke at the bar. Yes, you smell it as you have to walk past the bar to enter the restaurant, but it didn't bother me once we were seated...their ventilation is good. Our server, Kelly, was amazing (you must request her). She's very attentive and makes an effort to get to know you. We were going to start with an appetizer until she informed us that there was a 16 oz bone in filet that was a special that night....my husband decided that's what he wanted for his birthday meal. I got an 8 oz petite filet, and we shared the creamed spinach and the lyonnaise (with cheese added...so good!). The smaller portion is plenty for 2 people to share. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and the sides were so incredibly tasty. My husband ordered the banana cream pie for dessert and we also got a complimentary cookie and ice cream for it being his birthday. The wine was great and they had live music. Valet is complimentary as well so make sure you tip well! We will definitely come back with some friends.

Buisness trip to Atlanta, this place was recommended. Difficult to find. Really did not feel welcome, was it because we were British or other reasons? Place was dark, hostile and stank of cigar smoke. Felt like we were going to just be messed around so left.

We recently went to The New York Prime for a wine pairing dinner and it was a fabulous experience! Alex, the sommelier, was well versed in the four course pairings which were all fabulous! We had the opportunity to try the Oysters Rockefeller, apple arugula salad, filet mignon, creamed spinach, caramelized onions, chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream. Every bit was scrumptious! Also, the restaurant feels like you are stepping back in time to the days of Frank Sinatra with the music, mood, and service which was excellent. We will be back!

Enjoyed an exceptional dinner with an out-of-town (state) friend! The food was worth every penny! And the key lime pie... OMG! We were lucky enough to be there on a Sunday evening: live music was provided by Tom Wolf (guitar, ukulele, and harmonica). He was AWESOME! We knew most of the songs, and sang along half the time, haha! Basically, I now have a new "go to" restaurant! Can't say enough great things about the entire experience!

These people are very racist. I had on a designer outfit an the manager told me I was to casual, I ask him what did he mean he told me he is not going to argue with me. I took it as he just didn’t want us to come into the restaurant, my lady said it’s a man with jeans sitting right there he got aggressive with her an told us we are not coming in the restaurant.. VERY RACIST ORGANIZATION!!

We LOVE New York Prime and Bobby always personally greets us as we have known him for years. Our teenage daughters were very impressed with the food, ambience, and live music.

Had to decide between a few steak places. After much deliberation, we chose NY Prime. Great atmosphere, great service. Sides were very good and large enough to easily share. The only think limiting this review to 4 instead of 5 was the main course. There were 4 of us and everyone got steaks. A large filet (12 oz), 2 small filets (8 oz) and a bone in strip. Two of the filets were way undercooked. The requested temperature was medium and I would say these were quite rare. This is understandable during a busy time and you would always prefer a bit under done rather than over done. The Resturant was not busy and they were way under cooked. At the price and the reputation of this resturant, I would say it was unacceptable. With that being said, food was still very good and I will have to give them another try. Everyone can have an off night, even a cook. Great

great bar if you like cigars and attentive, charming bartenders! Food is consistently very good and service is better!

The sides are like every other steak house - over-sized. However you can get a smaller portion. A nice option. The steaks were as close to perfect as you can get. Exactly the right temperature with a delicious crust and au jus plenty. Good wine list, service attentive. If you have a hankering for a good steak this is the place.

Went there with 4 other couples, for an early Mother's Day celebration. Staff was very accommodating and knowledgeable. They provide a bread basket with an assortment of savory bread. We ordered as appetizers baked shrimp, lobster bisque, and rockerfeller oysters- AMAZING!!!!!!!!! The 22oz Ribeye was melt in your mouth goodness. The redfish was great, but a little too oily. The sides are HUGE! Onion straws, creamed corn, mash potatoes, spinach, all were good. Then a 9lb lobster was ordered! Wow!

i eat steak out very rarely so i judge steakhouses by their chicken dishes. New York Prime is at the top of my list. Can't wait to go back for the chicken. It was perfectly seasoned, served hot and JUICY! service was excellent.

Came here on date night tonight. I had the filet cooked medium and it was perfect. My husband had the bone-in ribeye. He likes well done steaks and was really happy with his steak. The garlic spinach was a little too salty for me. Drinks were great. Cheesecake was probably one of the best slices I've ever had and quite a large piece. Service was amazing - ask for Ty. Liked the atmosphere and music. It was a great night.

My wife and I were in town for a couple of days and decided last minute that we wanted a nice steak dinner, they were the only restaurant we could find that had availability probably because you can smoke. The food and the service we great and so was the price $$$$. The most entertaining part is that it's an old rich boys hangout so the all parade around with their 25 year old trophy wives. Hilarious to watch.

The food was excellent as was the service, but the restaurant dining area is right next to the bar that allows cigar smoking. Really nasty smell for a non-smoker. I thought smoking had been banned inside restaurants? I would have walked out immediately if we hadn't had reservations to meet friends there for dinner. The waiter was apologetic, but there was nothing he could do except seat us as far from the bar as possible.

The food is great but you have to love the cigar smoke accompaniment. You WILL smell it, so be prepared. Very stupid to allow in this day and age, but they do it. The steaks are great, but I can't recommend this place based on their primitive allowances. If you're after a good steak, there are plenty of great steakhouse in Buckhead that will cater to you without the cigar smoke annoyance.

Awesome background Valentine's Day dinner from prime. 5 stars across the board. Nothing bad from me on this restaurant. Customer service was superb from valet to the host to our table an waiter. The bottle still water was chill, my glass of prosecco was chill. The only thing that was a little turn down was the Caesar salad it was a little salty other than that thumbs up. Next we order our entrees which was 22oz rib steak medium well with large bake potato loaded and new York strip with a large bake potato and caramelized onions on the side. That 22oz was so freaking good I couldn't finish it of course, which made a nice doggy bag. Over all, it was a awesome experience to have with your love one on a romantic night. I would definitely be back again.

My sisters and I had a girls night out on Atlanta. We went to NY Prime on a friend's recommendation. Wow! Gorgeous restaurant! Bobby Hall met us with a big smile as we came in and remembered me from my phone call earlier that day to change my reservation. ("No problem!") He sat us at a very nice booth where we were immediately greeted and given water by a server. The menu was old fashioned and divine... cold stone crabs, gigantic shrimp cocktail, wedge and caesar salads and the steaks we came for. There were other, newer offerings, and I got a half portion (still big) of a delicious arugula salad with endive, apple, blue cheese crumbles and candied walnuts. My sister got the beef carpaccio with arugula capers and parmesan. The meat was tender "like butter"! My other sister shared her shrimp cocktail with me and they were perfectly cooked and chilled. We shared a filet that was charred outside and medium red inside. It was delicious. The sides would make a meal themselves. We got half size portions of the garlic spinach and the potatoes lyonnaise for the table. Bobby checked on us after our meals came, and we assured him we were very happy with our choices and the quality of the food. The service remain en pointe. This whole experience really was a treat for us! We will be back!

As for the food the wedge salad was delicious as well as the crabmeat cocktail. The steaks were ok but nothing special. The sides were over priced and bland. Honestly we make better food at home. Read further for atmosphere Party of 4 seated outside on patio on rainy cold windy night. Wind gusts of over 40 mph compromised the safety of our party as well as other guests. Wind gusts also blew water under our table causing very uncomfortable wet seats. The large heaters swayed alarmingly close to tipping over several times. My coat as well as my husband's coat was damp and my boots are still drying out. We had called earlier in the week after looking at the forecast to change our table but was assured the patio would be an amazing dining experience. Little did we know it would be like this! Manager Geno Drew was made aware of the situation and offered no change of table. Then the crazy couple seated by us verbally attacked us shouting obscenities as they were leaving in hopes of provoking a physical altercation. I have no idea where that came from. The enraged man and his partner moved to our table reaching his body over me across the table threatening my husband's life. We were speechless and remained seated and calm throughout this entire incident. Three men came out to escort the couple from the patio (I guess) because they left. My husband and I had not spoken a word to this couple this entire night except when we were seated, we said excuse me as they had commandeered a seat from our table to stack the women's coat and purse. Incidentally this cccurred just as we received our entrees. Geno the GM only spoke to us after we requested his presence to our table and was condescending asking us to "enjoy our dinner". Seriously after that unprovoked attack and humiliation, that's his response. As we tried to finish our meal, I found myself utterly sick to my stomach and wanting to leave. We will never return and my advice for those wanting a truly delicious steak and fine dining experience: go to Rathbun's you will not be disappointed.

Steaks And Sides Are Incredible I Could Eat Here Every Weekend Service Is Great . Very Nice Buckhead Restaurant.

Awesome service and wonderful food!. Reminds me of and old-school New York or New Jersey steakhouse...dark wood, cigar smoke and dim lighting. Great for a business meeting (among those who don't mind smoke). Very intimate location.

We have gone here for years..Bobby and team turn out a great product with great service. Aooetizers are terrific but don't fill up as the meals are worth waiting for. Decor is perfect. Bar scene is great for an after work cocktail. Pricey but worth it.

We (7) ate at this restaurant on last Friday as a part of our Veteran's Day Celebration. All of the meals were excellent. The singer was a pleasant surprise. He had a vast repertoire of music. Our waiter was exceptional. He ensured we had a great time including engaging in conversation with my 10 year old. The only thing I would recommend is that the wait staff that is responsible for bringing the bread to table are trained on handling of foods and ensuring gloves or tongs are used to replenish baskets and not bare hands.

Absolutely one of the best Steak Restaurants in Atlanta. No doubt, it is what it is. If you are going to blow a gasket because they allow cigar smoking in the bar out of principal, don't go there. There is a subtle cigar aroma when you first walk in, but there is an extremely good exhaust system. I doubt that there is any potential harm to your health. I am not trying to pick a fight with anyone, but there are enough people in town to support this concept. Personally I wish there were more places with this type of smoking policy in town. Now let's discuss the most import part. The food, ambiance, value, and service..... The wine list is extensive with every price point from I think $11 per glass to $800 per bottle. My favorite way to start an evening is with a Manhattan. They hit the spot with just their well brand, Maker’s Mark. Our server Kellie did mention that they also had several bottles of Pappy Van Winkle up to 20 year old available. Our first course was the Colossal Baked Shrimp, WOW! I dare anyone to say they can still smell cigars when this plate of sizzling crustacean, garlic and bread crumbs arrives at your table. Let me say it again WOW! Our second course was the chopped salad. A single serving, like the appetizer was plenty. The salad was an incredible chopped medley of flavors including hearts of palm, greens, nuts, tomatoes, anchovies, and more. My wife had the Filet of Ribeye, and I had the Bone in Ribeye. Both were excellent, and prepared as ordered. The asparagus with Hollandaise sauce was good, as were the cheese mashed potatoes. We gave it our best shot to finish everything, but failed. I wish we had room for the desserts or even something from the Port Wine selection we just couldn’t. The décor is incredible full of dark wood, and with an elegant masculine flair. My pet peeve about some of these upper end restaurants is not having white table cloths. Not only does New York Prime cover their tables, the server staff keeps them immaculately clean removing crumbs between every course. Finally, our server Kellie K was incredible, and extremely professional. She was personable, attentive, and made excellent suggestions. We felt like she tried to learn about our tastes before making a recommendation. Servers like Kellie are uncommon. Speaking of the staff I would like to mention the Host could improve his hospitality skills. We were arrived at 6:30 mistaken that our reservation was made at 6:00. He was right. I was wrong, but I felt as though I was in High School being scolded by my teacher for being tardy. I understand if the restaurant was at capacity during the peak hour this could have been a problem. It was early and the restaurant was not crowded, even by the time we left. He should have let it go. After all, I am the guest and spending $223 (a fair price). Bottom line this place is top notch. Don’t miss it. Take your appetite, your best date, best friends, or best customers for a special occasion……unless they are whiney pants sissies about a little cigar smoke.

Five of us visited and had the best steaks perfectly cooked. There was a crisp crust and the steak then cut like butter. Surprisingly the vegetable side dishes were wonderfully flavourful- the spinach with a hint of nutmeg and the corn with a bit of chili. Our waiter, Nathan's service was gracious and professional. The breads were also more than - a flat bread with cinnamon overtones was especially enjoyable. Best of all were the dulcet tones of Maxwell Taylor, singing classics, he made me feel as Ray Charles was in the room and then sang 'Georgia' so sweetly, you were very glad you were enjoying the New York ambience in Atlanta. Caveat: cigars are allowed in the bar, but the dining room is smoke free.

Sherman's March through Atlanta must have missed this Spectacular Restaurant! For years, while growing up in Atlanta..NY Prime is the best! From the great service....to the strong Martinis..hold on to your hats! Seafood and Steaks are the best..of the best!! Great sized portions can be shared. Deserts will knock your girlfriends bra and pantys right off!!

We recently made it to New York Prime, as the guest of one of their regular customers. He had them prepare a Shrimp and Crab Appetizer that was fantastic, well prepared, large shrimp, jumbo lump crab meat. I could have easily made a meal of this. They serve their steaks Pittsburgh style, (charred on outside). I love my steaks this way, and always order them this way, so this was a bonus for me, since they do it so well on their 1700 degree broilers. I am not sure if it is optional to get it any other way, but you can ask. Steaks were great, Onion rings are HUGE, we only ordered one each. The service was absolutely top notch as you would expect from this fine restaurant. It is certainly pricey, but you get top notch, high quality, well prepared food, with great service. Great for special occasions.

We chose this restaurant because of a recommendation that we received. However, It is almost unbelievable that a fine dining upscale restaurant can still allow smoking in their restaurant and force non-smokers to inhale the horrific cigar/cigarette smoke while trying to eat a very good expensive meal. This was my first trip there and had no idea. So, we will continue to to to Bones, or Capital Grille any day over this restaurant. The food was very good but we actually had to leave before we even finished because the table less than 3 feet away from us was full of heavy smokers. It was totally unbearable. If you want to smoke, there should at least be a Cigar Room to go to so the other people would not have to inhale the most unpleasant smoke.

We sat at the bar and enjoyed everything we had. Service was bang on and entertaining. Food was A++ with a great sophisticated atmosphere! Bacon appetizer was so good we ordered another! Look forward to returning!

What so many people have already said- I can only second, third, ....The steaks are over the top- quality unsurpassed. Flavors galore. Appetizers wonderful. Desserts mouthwatering. SADLY the stench of burnt butt-cigar smoke might ruin any non-smokers desire to drop the kind of coin they otherwise would not think twice for such a dining experience. For me- the continuous drifting of cigar & cigarette smoke tainted any enjoyment the meal would have otherwise provided. I have been told this is the last refuge for dining and cigar smoking indoors within Atlanta. Go Figure! If NY Prime really wants to impress- design an exhaust system where the dining experience isn't in the shadows of ruined taste buds, sense of smell, congestion causing head-aches and more dry cleaning to rid one of the take home treat (not asked for) of burnt dog turds. Sad but true- the exceptional food was ruined by someone else's need to hold a burning stick of Poo.

I Have Eaten At Most Of The Big Hitters In Atlanta And This Is Tied With 1 More As Being The Best I Love The Atmosphere And The Decor. Food And Service Is Incredible Will Be Back Very Soon.

Didn't realize it was a smoking establishment until to late. The minute you walk in you realize it as you're bombarded with disgusting cigar smoke. Excellent food that is ruined by the smoking. Will not be back!

I stopped in here one night when dining alone in Atlanta. I sat at the bar and net nice people. The wait staff made me feel right at home. My steak was perfectly cooked and it was a wonderful night Yes there is smoking at the bar but I found the most interesting people sitting there and fun was had by all.

We decide to try this place as we found it on Open Table and were in the mood for a steak. Service and meal were both awesome. This place wreaks of not just cigar, but cigarette smoke. It honestly took away from a great meal and awesome service. Wouldn’t go here again simply due to the smell and smoke. Too bad because the food was amazing.

I went here with a customer and supplier for dinner. The positive for some is that you can smoke cigars and cigarettes around the bar. I thought that was outlawed everywhere indoors but I guess there are exceptions. Good to know if you have smoking guests. Now onto the food. They don't serve a wedge salad which I found odd for a steak house. I got the New York Strip (rare). The flavor was average, it was not seared very well, and it was cooked longer than it should have been for a rare steak. The sauteed onions we had as one of our sides was very greasy. I had the butter cake for dessert which again was just OK. Some of my dinner companions described their steaks as "great" and "one of the best they's had" although the second one there did end up with some aluminum foil in their steak. At a lower scale restaurant all of this might have been OK but not when they're high end steak house prices.

For years this has been our spot to ring in the New Year and to enjoy a few other special moments. The staff at NY Prime are Atlanta pros. Business dinners to family gatherings, they deliver. The bar scene is lively but not obtrusive. The floor allows plenty of personal space, unlike a lot of other ATL steakhouses. It is romantic one visit, perfect for business the next. We are loyalists and the steaks and vibe are perfect!

Absolutely the best filet I've ever had! Everyone at our table ordered steak, and they were cooked as ordered to perfection. Couldn't have tasted any better. If you want a great steak, this is your place! The atmosphere is up beat with great staff! Salads and sides are proportioned to share for sure.

A typical steak house atmosphere with excellent food. Service was exemplary as was the ambiance. It does have cigar allowance at the bar and that may annoy some, some will love it. I did not find it overpowering or offensive. Food great, service excellent.
Awesome Food with New York Smoking
I loved my dining experience here and the couple that joined my husband and I, I wish I only had great things to say. I would have given this restaurant a 99.9 if customers smoking inside was not present. The smell if smoke, made my nostrils burn, put me close to a migraine and the other couple with us nose began to run. I wish smoking was not allowed, the smoke was experienced from the door throughout our dining. Now the appetizers we had were all great - large garlic shrimp, crab meat, salads- my husbands filet mignon was superb. The salmon was marvelous. Dessert - the NY Cheesecake - wow! Key lime wow, but amazingly the cookie became the subject at dessert. Unfortunately I can't dine again because of the smoking allowed.
