The food was fresh. The sandwiches were a little unique and hard to understand what was on them just based on the menu. The service was friendly. We enjoyed the extra large plastic cups if you ordered a drink & the crunchy breadsticks (kind of like a cracker).

Good food ordered at desk, self service beverage, order delivered to table, condiment bar. Large clean seating areas with central open to view food prep area. I saw large to go and delivery orders being prepare and leaving the store. Enjoyed our food and highly recommended as a convenient location after shopping at the nearby Trader Joe's.

We love Newk's for lunch. The service is prompt and with a smile. The meals are fresh and very tasty. Favorites include: chicken salad, Italian, and pimento cheese sandwiches; large greek salad; tortilla soup. The condiment bar is also wonderful for those that love pickles and several kinds of peppers. The place gets busy at lunchtime, but the line moves quickly and they have a large indoor and small outside patio sitting area. Free self service drink refills.

I didn't know what to expect wandering in on this idle afternoon, but I was pleasantly surprised. The waitstaff are absolutely outstanding, but the sandwich I had was average at best. The only things that stood out were their soups, all three of us got different ones (New Apple Spiced Squash, Lobster Bisque, and Tortilla Soup) and all of them were fantastic. Though the tortilla soup tasted more like a chilli. The prices are also fair and they have outdoor seating for when the weather is nice. Plus -- you can bring their cups home as they are those sturdy plastic ones.

Jollyville and Great Hills Trail eatery. Fresh food, taste great! Mostly soup, sandwiches, and awesome salads. Just place your order and they will bring it to you. Group of 12 going to Arbor Cinema just around the corner were able to eat with plenty of time to spare in less than an hour. Right on time for our movie. Every plate was clean!

A quick and light dinner was what we were looking for, and this was a perfect place to go. My Mum didn’t recall the name, but she remembered the place once she walked in, so she knew there’d be good food. The staff was good about doing some menu modifications to fit my father’s dietary needs. I had a bowl of the wonderful chili and it was awesome. My parents had the soup and sandwich combinations, which they enjoyed. I’ve been coming to this place for a number of years now, and the quality continues to be good.

We were in Austin and looking for a place to have lunch with our grand daughter. We just happened on the restaurant. It was clean, neat, and everyone was friendly. It was quick service and fresh amazingly good food.

Traveling for work to Austin, coworker recommended this place near the local sales office. Was worried about a wait given the prime lunch rush but not an issue. Broad menu. I had the club sandwich - nothing special but tasty and filling. Chose the Coleslaw as a side, which was a little bland, but OK. Easy to find seating despite being a popular place. Definitely worth a stop for lunch.

My new favorite and several others favorite too. Long lines at lunch time but with very quick service. They open up all the registers so the line moves fast. Also there is a to go register in back right corner. Next to it is a case with ready made sandwiches and salads and soup to grab and go. BEST iced tea in large to-go cups that you can reuse. They even have iced tea sweetened with Splenda. Not only that, but the food is so fresh and servings are large. I fed 3 people with one speciality salad - The Cobb. I'm completely addicted to this one. Pecans, hard boiled eggs, chives, tender chicken blue cheese crumbles, with house made salad dressings. Yay- finally a quick place with home made salad dressings!!! It keeps me coming back for more each week.

Have never had so much as an "it's ok" lunch here....everything has been excellent! Quality in food, service, menu selections. Best of all you can get mac and cheese as a side or an entree. Hats off to Adam who makes every visit a fun time as he makes you feel special.

My first visit here was for lunch. I promise, it won't be our last visit. Newk's Eatery moved right to the top of my favorite lunch spots in the greater Austin area. Our lunch was absolutely delicious. The service was second to none. The staff absolutely exceeded my expectations in every respect. Such a wonderful experience has me wanting to return to Newk's very soon! I love this place. The prices and portions are very reasonable. I would have to say - just right! Well worth a ride over to Newk's - I believe you will be as delighted as we were. Awesome! ~Bon Apetit!

Love this place for lunch and dinner. They have great salads and sandwichs. We love getting salads to go on Sunday evening f

My husband and I have been here several times. We like to share a pizza...the crust is delicious. My favorite thing is the salads. The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is due to staff friendliness (or lack thereof) and overall cleanliness (the drink area and not wiping down tables). I have never had dessert here, but want to try it soon. We will be back for sure!

The salad appeared fresh, but the taste was bland. The ranch dressing watery. The baked potato soup was ok. Just a ho hum bland meal.

I’d gone here a few times for other things, so when I needed to meet with my sister to talk about family issues, it was a good venue for us to stop to after work. My sister got a salad, and I had a Panini sandwich. Both were made to order, and both came out very well. This is primarily a soup & sandwich place, with some other items on the menu (like small pizzas). The interior is bright and airy, and gave a really comfortable feeling. As we discussed stuff, the staff brought our food out to us when it was ready, refilled out beverages, and took our empty plates when done. Located in a strip plaza, there’s plenty of places to park. And because this is located in the vicinity of the Arboretum, there’s a lot of other food venues you can choose from. This is one you should choose, as my meals here have been consistently good.

What else can you say about a place which you’ve reviewed a number of times? By the fact I keep coming back here (and keep recommending it to people), shows how good I think the quality of this place is. We met here for a light dinner, as the menu provided enough variety for us to each get what we wanted. With a large selection of sandwiches, soups, salads, and specialty pizzas, I’ve been able to enjoy different combinations on every visit. My friend and I each got a chicken pesto sandwich, but with different soups; I had the chicken chili and she had the potato soup. Everything came out quick, was at the appropriate temperature, and very tasty.

WOW bring a friend to help eat the food. The salads are so big and have so much product you wont believe it. My husband had an Ahi Tuna on some amazing bread. The chicken sausage gumbo soup was very flavorful. They have a condiment area with roasted garlic, capers, three kinds of peppers and many more things. I have only one thing to say about this place........ PLEASE OPEN ONE IN MINNEAPOLIS AREA!!!!

Grilled chicken and Italian were awesome!! The Italian was full of great meats, cheese and peppers. Grilled chicken was tasty!!

This is my second review of Newk's Express Cafe, and it has not changed. It's still serving great food that is prepared from fresh ingredients and brought to your table quickly. My favorite is their chicken salad sandwich and caesars salad. Wish Newk's would open a cafe in the Lake Travis area. It would be a great success.

Newk's is a chain restaurant with fresh offerings and great flavors. Their salad dressings are amazing - such flavor. Salads are huge - so be ready to take half of it home or to your hotel.

Two co-workers and I had lunch at Newks on a Friday. The restaurant was is large and was nearly full. There were a few tables outside as well. As soon as we entered the restaurant there is an order counter and large menu on a wall. The cashiers were efficient and there was never a long line, although there was a steady line. After ordering, we were given a number to put at our table. The drinks were self-serve. Our food arrived at our table in 8-10 minutes. I ordered a grill steak sandwich with chips $7.99. Another coworker ordered a roast beef sandwich with a salad $7.29. The other co-worker ordered the Newks favorite salad $ 8.99. We all thought the food was average.

Best lunch ever!! soups, pizza and sandwiches are extraordinarily fresh and well presented. the staff is quick to take your order and food out in minutes. Been there many times and have never been disappointed. Took friends with me every time and always was asked if we could back the next day. The White BQ sauce is amazing.

Newk's restaurant in the Arboretum area has good salads, soup, sandwiches, pizza and dessert. Entree salad portions are huge.

Newk's is located in the Arboretum area. My wife and I had lunch there before venturing into Trader Joe's, which is about 150 feet away. Newk's menu includes a good variety of hearty salads, pizzas and sandwiches. Patrons place their orders and pay their bills at one of the cashier stations. They give you a numbered card to be displayed at your table, and your food is delivered in five minutes or so. We both had the "Black and Bleu" salad which is a large bowl of romaine greens with sliced steak and Gorgonzola cheese with a blue cheese dressing; very tasty and filling. Try Newk's if you are in the area; you should enjoy it.

My wife and I had lunch here on a Friday afternoon. You walk up and order then have a seat and your food is brought out. The place was packed but our order was taken quickly and in about 5 minutes we had a great meal! I had the pesto chicken and my wife had the grilled chicken sandwich. Both were outstanding!

Chose Newk's Q Chicken Sandwich with White BBQ Sauce and Caesar Salad for my first visit. Wasn't aware the sauce contained horseradish so beware if you're not a fan. The place was filled with that burned cheese/toasted smoke but if you can get over that, you'll have a great lunch. The salad wasn't tossed with a typical caesar dressing, it had a citrus/black pepper twist and was a refreshing surprise. The breadsticks are yummy to snack on while you wait. Service was very friendly and fast.

Went for lunch. Walking distance from Renaissance Hotel. It has decent menu variety. I ordered Spicy Chicken Pizza with a drink. The order came promptly, pizza was hot and delicious. Although it was not spicy at all. Would have liked more spices. The service was very friendly and price was reasonable.

Last year ate here every week. Quit coming until they bring back chili. Wife wanted to try chichen pesto sandwich. Bread was good feta good chicken old s dry, obviously pre cooked chopped and sitting in a pan. Soup was crawfish and jack cheese.thick and tasty, but why no chili? Not one soup today was a"summer soup". Any way dry chicken sealed the deal.

I had a Greek salad and a bowl of black bean soup. The salad was huge and the soup was spicy and delish. Hubby had a steak sandwich. He was it was very good. Priced for families, nicely decorated, and good food for a national chain.

When looking for a place for a quick lunch or a light dinner, Newk’s is a good location. Because it’s part of a strip center, it’s easily accessible from the road and there’s plenty of parking. Since the menus are displayed right as you come in, it makes ordering easy. There’s a good selection of sandwiches, salads, soups, and personal-sized pizzas available. But the best options are the specials where a half-sandwich can be combined with either a cup of soup or small salad. My friend had never been there before, so I was able to show her the drill. We each got a half chicken sandwich with salad. She topped hers off with a glass of wine. I went for water, even though there’s a selection of fountain beverages available too. The interior is clean and spacious. There are both booths and tables available, so large parties can be accommodated as well as an intimate setting for a couple.

Uber delivery. Took a while, but apparently that was an Uber issue, not a restaurant issue. Three salads and a tomato soup. The soup is delicious, tasted homemade in a good way! I had shrimp salad with arugula and some feta and avocado. Great choice! My wife had the salmon salad and enjoyed it. The other salad is for tomorrow and it’s somewhat of a chopped salad With chicken, I think. Very pleased with the order and this place. Tasty food and decent value.

Order lunch to go for 4 to pick up. Everything was ready when I arrived. Food was good......salads and sandwiches.

Very pleasant Cafe with very good soup and sandwich selections. Right across from Arboretum with good atmosphere and friendly staff

When we finally got our food (after waiting for 40 minutes) it was pretty good. I had a coupon from the Newk's website, and they wouldn't accept it, go figure. I think there are better options in the Arboretum area.

Today I went to lunch with one of my girl friends and sure wasn't disappointed. When we want a quick, reasonable, gourmet lunch we always choose NEWK'S Express Café. My favorite dish is the chicken salad. In fact, I get it every time. So, today I decided to venture out and get something different, the soup and half sandwich combo. However, as it turned out I couldn't venture too far and got the chicken salad half sandwich and the vegetable soup. Delicious!!!

Delicious food and friendly, fast service. Also, surprisingly addictive chocolate cake! Plan on ordering a whole one for a birthday celebration🎉

Enjoyed lunch at Newks after passing by it several times. Newks Q toasted sandwich and the shrimp pizza were hits. I will definitely come here again instead of going to Corner Bakery across the street. Newks is the better option.

Gluten free selection limited, a few sides should be added. Quick service, clean location. Limited portions of Protein in Shiskabob.

Visited with my lovely wife. We did not know what to expect and asked the cashier for some advice. He settled in Farmers Market sandwich and Loaded Potato soup. Since we were not very hungry, asked them to split them into two. The food was very good quality. My wife usually does not like potato soup but she could not get enough of it! The sandwich was good quality with whole grain bread. The atmosphere is very casual. Saw many families with kids and couples enjoying a casual meal. Will be back again.

I stopped here for lunch yesterday. I ordered the Cuban with pasta salad as a side. The sandwich was mediocre and the pasta salad was nothing to brag about. I have visited other Newks locations in the past and had better meals so I'm hoping my selection was just a poor choice and no reflection on the restaurant itself.

We were in this part of town for an event and needed to eat some dinner. We were looking for something quick and had an outdoor patio. This fit that bill. I think a better lunch spot, but we weren't looking for anything heavy. I will say if you have a nut allergy, PLEASE read the menu in detail. I ordered the Cobb salad and one bite in; I knew it had nuts in it. My fault. It is clearly listed on the menu, but I have never had pecans in a Cobb Salad before. I got soup and salad, so I was able to eat my soup and a piece of my husband's pizza. I believe this is a chain or a franchise. You order at a counter and then they bring out your food. It was fine but nothing special. I don't think I would make a special effort to come here to eat.

I'm glad that Newk's came to Austin. I enjoyed the club sandwich. The ultimate salad was very good too. It is very busy for lunch so adjust your time accordingly.

3 of 4 members of our party had soup and sandwich combos and 1 had a Cesar salad with salmon. Everything was fresh tasting and served quickly. Tomato basil soup was rich and creamy with chunks of tomato. The sandwich bread was baguette style with just enough crunch. The pesto chicken with goat cheese and the turkey breast sandwiches were well made with plenty of meat and their respective ingredients. An additional bonus - since you pay up front it is much quicker overall and no tipping required. Everyone agreed it would be a regular stop for lunch.

. I ordered the pimiento cheese and my husband got the chicken salad sandwich. Wow were we surprised. They were both on wonderful sourdough bread and they were super! I have never seen a pimiento cheese sandwich fixed like this one but I loved it. The chicken salad was super with just the right amount of celery and nuts. They have a large menu of sandwiches, soups, and salads. It really gets busy in there and if is good for families.

Stopped in for lunch. Very friendly. I had the pizza it was ok. Saw the blt online but not on the in store menu. Settled for the sausage and pepperoni pizza. It was ok. Last time I had Austin pizza it was on 6th street and seemed to taste better. But this wasn’t bad. Sweet tea was good. In walking distance from hotel and right next to Trader Joe’s. It’s good for lunch.

I'm now convinced that Newk's is the best lunch place on the planet. At various locations in the South and Southeast, there are many locations to choose from. Their sandwiches and salads and soups are consistently good and the pepperoni pizza is to die for. This place is conveniently located north of Austin on the way to my wife's cousin's home in Leander, TX, We didn't have to go out of the way. They also have a nice assortment of iced teas. This is a marvelous place for comfort food.

Newk's is a good place for anyone to meet for lunch. Food is simple but tasty. Often gets crowded during peak hours, but accepts reservations. The restaurant features tables of various sizes.

My all time favorite chicken salad sandwich. I love this so much, I downloaded the recipe so I could have it at home. Wonderful fresh food and friendly people.

Ordered the Shrimp Po Boy with cole slaw side for lunch delivery to office. Small, thin sandwich containing 12 small shrimp, couldn’t tell if they were grilled or boiled, thin piece of lettuce, then pieces of tomato, thin pieces of pickles. Not a lot of flavor. Small container of cocktail sauce was good. Cole slaw was very mayonaisy, and very salty. I was hungry 30 minutes afterwards. Not a fan of this experience.

Good food, good service, but neither stood out as exemplary. Might consider other places it he area the next time I'm in Austin.

We've made it a habit to visit Newk's just before or after shopping at Trader Joe's (only a couple of doors down). That's how we found Newk's - it just happened to be close by, we were hungry, hey, why not? We've been pleasantly surprised with every visit at the quality of the food and the prices (not sure how they turn a profit). We try to go for something new each time, but I admit I'm kind of addicted to the black bean soup. Mmmmmm...

My favorite thing here is the pizza. You get a great price for fresh pizza and fresh ingredients on top.

This is our favorite place for lunch in Austin. Great salads, daily soups, fresh sandwiches and wonderful pizza. Love the pimento cheese and chicken salad. Step up to the counter and order and find a table. While you wait for your meal to be delivered, enjoy the condiments table and drink station. Plenty of tasty snacks and refills are free.

I had the grilled steak sandwich and the lobster and crab bisque. The soup was incredible and slightly sweet. It tasted like it was a little heavy on the sherry but it was good and I will order it again. The sandwich was thick and full of meat. I like the center bar where you can get your condiments and a variety of peppers. The line moved quickly and I was there with the after church crowd. The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. I will definitely be returning to try more of their vast menu.

Normally Newk's is great, but this time their chicken salad was lacking the chicken and filled with olives. I like olives but there were more than the chicken. I took out at least 10 whole olives from the 1/2 sandwich. Pretty bummed and skip the Mac and cheese it was greasy.

Newk's is about halfway between home and my daughter's apartment so its really convenient to meet for lunch. Fortunately its one of our favorite spots for a quick lunch as our trove of Newk's cups attests. This time she was disappointed that her favorite vegetarian sandwich is no longer on the menu. She had the seared ahi tuna salad instead. She thought the tuna was too well cooked. It was cooked through not seared. I had the shrimp and avocado salad. The lemon vinaigrette combined with the arugula made for a very bitter salad. I wanted a lighter meal than my normal black and bleu but this was not the best choice.

When I came inside, I was greeted immediately. I stated that it was my first time and the manager came out and shook my hand to welcome me. She explained the menu and gave me suggestions. WOW! THIS IS AMAZING SERVICE! I had the pimiento cheese sandwich and tomato basil soup. I have to say that the sandwich was one of the best I have ever had! Great job, guys. You made a customer for life!

Crowded at lunch during the week, but great reasonably priced food. I recommend their Newk's Favorite Salad and also the Italian sandwich.

They get very crowded at lunch time. The food is great. They have wonderful soups & sandwiches. The chicken salad is amazing.

We ate there for a quick lunch. It was ok but they got the order wrong. My husband said several times that all he wanted on his sandwich was mayo. He ended up with horseradish. My salad didn’t seem to have all of the listed ingredients. When I ate most of the salad I found all of the extra things in the bottom of the bowl. If I had known, I would have mixed it. Besides the above there were a couple off people delivering the food to tables and they seemed very confused about the orders.

We were in the area for an outdoor festival and stopped at Newk's for lunch. I ordered the lobster and crab bisque which was only average but I really enjoyed my burger. In fact, it was the first time I had to eat it with knife and fork because of the double patty and toppings. The service was very good and the atmosphere was wonderful.
Great food but chaotic and extremely loud
Super good sandwiches. It is so loud that ordering from the girl at the register is difficult, and she made no effort to be better heard. My husband was going to take a bottled water, then changed his mind and ordered a fountain drink. The register person did not read the order back to me, and only when I got home did I realize that we were charged for both the bottled water and his fountain drink, even though he told her he was changing to the fountain drink. I don't know when we'll get back there to claim the mis-charged $1.25 for the bottled water. When we went, the tables were in short supply, but we caught one as someone was leaving. It was dirty, but in just a short time someone came to clean it. The unsweetened iced tea dispenser was empty, so I went for the Splenda sweetened. It seemed pretty weak, but maybe they all tasted that way. The food took about 10 minutes to be delivered to the table. My husband ordered the Grilled Chicken sandwich ($7.79) and chose chips. When it arrived, it was accompanied by a small bag of chips--that was not expected. He would have ordered another side had he known. He said the sandwich was quite good. I ordered the Grilled Steak sandwich ($7.99), with coleslaw. The coleslaw was average, but the steak sandwich was delicious. It didn't look large, even though it was on a small baguette type of roll, but I found I could only eat half. It was very chaotic, loud, and impossible to have a conversation. Because the food was good, we will likely return, but would prefer a quieter, less chaotic place.
