An unexpected pleasure in a Wal Mart strip mall near our hotel in North Austin. Pot Stickers were really tasty, entrees were fresh and well prepared. I asked for Thai hot, and thought I would be disappointed at first taste, but the fire crept up on me. A little bit of trouble with the server's mastery of the language, but she got our order right and was very friendly. I'd eat here again.

We ordered Banh mi baguettes thru ubereats many times. Reasonable price and good tasty food. Our family favorite place.

My family ate at this restaurant when we first moved to the Austin area about 4 years ago. I remember how impressed we were with the quality of the food. We decided to try it again, and we weren't disappointed. First let me say that most people don't realize that Chang Thai is here. It's in a strip center near a very busy I-35 intersection just south of Carmax. Many thousands of cars pass it by everyday and don't even know it's there ... and that is too bad. The restaurant was not very crowded on the Friday night we were there. It's a decent size place and very clean. They have a huge menu in which to choose and the prices are reasonable. My mother ordered some Thai chicken dish with brown rice and she said it was very good. My wife had a green churry chicken dish that she thought was fabulous. I had a stir fried calamari dish - ordered extra spicy - and it was just okay. The reason I said just okay is because I expected calamari pieces and it was served with just the rings that were tough and chewy. The rest of the dish was great with fresh veggies, spiced perfectly, a nice brown sauce and plenty of steamed rice. The service was very, very good and attentive ... but then again ... the restaurant wasn't very crowded. I wish more locals would discover this place because their food & service was very good.

This is a hidden North Austin gem run by a Thai immigrant family. The food here is flavorful, home-made, and filling. The prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend the Banh Mi, a kind of sandwich on freshly made baguette bread with cilantro, ginger sauce, strips of carrot, peppers, and your choice of meat. The sandwich comes with your choice of soup. I could eat here every day. The curry at this cafe is among the best that any restaurants in the area have to offer.

Singapore Noodles with Shrimp - i get extra shrimp spicy 2 of 5 i love this dish ! i am happy to eat it and then mad i do not eat all the other excellent dishes there. The curry with bread ! The Bahn Mi Sandwiches ! tip- finish the spicy meal with the perfect finish- NG lemon cookies !

I have been eating at this restaurant, now called Ng Cafe, for over 10 years. The food has been excellent during that entire time. The newest owners have redecorated a bit, and improved the atmosphere, which I would classify as clean, unpretentious, and comfortable. The service is excellent. Because they do quite a take-out business in the evenings, the dinning room is usually not crowded. They have kept the excellent old recipes, but have also added some new, interesting, and diverse items, including baked goods. I am a vegetarian, but my meat-eating friends tell me that they love the food, also. Some of my favorite dishes are: Drunken Noodles, Pad Thai, Soy Noodles, and just about all the Curry dishes. I have always thought that this was one of the best Thai restaurants in Austin!

I highly recommend the Chicken Satay skewers. Masaman curry chicken is like a soup with delicious aroma and flavors. Beef teriyaki was ok. Next time I will be more adventurous in trying new dishes. Very few people were in the restaurant at dinnertime. I heard the restaurant has recently changed hands. Service was excellent. Food portions are generous.

We used the Yelp review to decide between Chang Thai and a Mexican restaurant. Chang won, hands down. Yummy shrimp rolls, jalapeño shrimp wrapped in bacon and Coconut milk soup with tons of crisp veggies. You won't be disappointed by the prices or the portions!

Mr Khun Yuth kindly took me into his kitchen to make my detailed selection. And very tasty it was too. Prompt, fresh cooking of Khao Pat Gai - chicken fried rice. I wasn't in a spicy mood, so he specially prepared with herbs - Kalasin style - his home town in NE Thailand. Real home style cooking - and saved me a $1000 airline ticket to Thailand. Very friendly and attentive service. And seek Mr Yuth's advice! Sawasdee as they say in Thailand!

Took a chance on this small hidden place that was recommended. I quickly saw there were few parking spaces available and the there was a long line and most of the tables were full. The menu was authentic and saw green curry that is a favorite of mine and selected chicken as the protein. (One can also select beef, shrimp, or pork). They also have red, yellow,Panang, pineapple and something called Evil Jungle Curry that I'll try next time. I noticed that many tables of locals had Bahn Mi as well...Mrs Quach gets there at 6:00 am to bake super, scratch baguettes that are to die for. We will definitely be back even though they are far from my home.

Definitely a little different, but not bad, overall good, just not 4.8 good. Tried a couple items, bot were pretty good, but not knock your socks off 4.8 good. (The googles have them at a 4.8.) I would go back to try some other stuff if I was a local.
Bein Mi - Incredible
This is truly an incredible Bein Mi sandwich shop. They serve other dishes and several in our group have tried many of these. I select the Grilled Pork Baguette every time. Fresh made bread in-house every morning. The sandwich is only 6 dollars add the salad and soup bar for an additional 2 dollars and you have a great lunch meal. Highly recommend NG Cafe.
