This is my spot for Mexican food!! I work at fort Sam and they take pride in their food when I Uber Eats to deliver. Everything is fresh and made clean. Personal favorite is the green enchiladas.

Great food. Best we’ve had in this town. Service was very good also. Everyone in party enjoyed our dinner. Nice atmosphere

Good spot for lunch, service was quick. Enjoyed a margarita. The tortilla soup was excellent. They have a quick and light lunch menu.

Nice for a quick bite but the margaritas weren’t great. The food was good and plentiful. Salsa was very good & service was quick and friendly.

Although we enjoy the Mexican food available in our hometown, we have not come across the flavors like we experienced at Nicha’s. My husband had the mole chicken enchiladas and I had the poblano chicken enchiladas. We shared each other’s dishes and savored them (both but I liked the mole just a little more). The enchiladas were perfectly flavored with the right balance of meat and sauce. The chicken was moist. The tortillas were just the right thickness. The refried beans and rice were “just right” 😋 (one might wonder how those can be bad—but you’d be surprised). The accompanying corn and flour tortillas were tortillas unlike we have available—and we have a lot of tortillarias in our hometown. I really loved the flour tortillas—so light, fluffy and tasty without the heaviness of the lard we’re used to in the tortillas we have at home. Wait…I should’ve started with the chips and salsa—always a favorite of mine. I will also feed myself chips and salsa if they’re on the table, before my meal, as a snack, after my meal and when I’m stuffed to the limit. These chips were delectable! So light and crispy and perfectly salted. The combination of chips with that salsa gave each bite a spicy kick that kept us craving more (we finished 2 baskets). Prices were great, service was better ✔️. We had other Mexican food, Tex/Mex, while visiting Texas but wish we could be back in San Antonio so we could try more of what’s on the menu at Nicha’s. Thanks for the great food!

Our entire table was sick within an hour of eating. Offered zero resolution. We normally eat on the southside but we chose 410. We ate our normal order with fresh jalapenos, onions and cilantro. Clearly there is a sanitation issue.

Stopped in for lunch at this busy place - our first visit. I had the spinach enchiladas and hubby had flautas. The food was delicious and the server was friendly and responsive. We will definitely be back!

Excellent non-TexMex Mexican food. Nicha's was packed at 5:45 PM on a Wednesday night but I was seated right away and service was very quick. The fajitas were excellent as were the Ranchero beans. I asked for their green salsa and it too was very good and sneaky hot. They do an incredible business and should be complimented in how well they manage the crowd.

Took a friend to lunch here and not only was service very good, but the food was really, really good! Amazing value for the quantity and quality of the food. I enjoyed the Carne Guisada plate, and my friend had the flauta plate with the tortilla soup and some tacos. Prompt service and exceptional prices! We went after the work crowd had cleared for lunch, at around 1:45 pm, so that would be my suggestion to avoid peak service hours.

The Saltillo plate was fantastic as was our waiter Moses! The restaurant was hopping, but our wait time for a table was only about 10 minutes. We will definitely return.

The food, drinks and service was wonderful!! This beats many places I've stopped at here in SA! This will most definitely be somewhere we stop at everytime we are in town!

My Daughter suggested we eat a Nacha’s and I am so glad she did. We arrived at lunch time and the parking lot was packed. Good sign. We entered and were escorted to a table immediately. I noticed quite a few older Hispanic ladies and families on the way to our table. Second good sign. My son and I both ordered the Tortilla Soup as a starter. It was loaded with chicken, cheese and avocado. I am glad we only ordered a cup because it was very filling. I followed with the Carne Guisada Plate which consisted of savory beef tips in a special gravy served with refried beans, rice and tortillas. It was wonderful. My son ordered La Bandera which consisted of a cheese enchilada with chili, one green enchilada, and one chicken mole enchilada served with refried beans, rice, and tortillas. I finished most of mine and could hardly move. My son cleaned his plate to the point he used the last of his tortilla to scrape the plate. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for genuine Tex-Mex. The place is clean and full precautions are taken for COVID. Face masks are required entering and going to your table. Tables are cleaned as soon as patrons leave. The wait staff was very attentive.

This restaurant was suggested to us by a local and was an absolute hit with each of our family members! They treated us like special guests even though we were obviously travelers with limited Spanish. Every single item - puffy tacos, cheese enchiladas, tamales, beef, chicken, street tacos, sopapillas, was absolute perfection. My only disappointment is this restaurant is so far from home.

The fish tacos were very tasty 😋. The wait for the food was looonng! No word from the waitress on why. It was such a long time. Like 15min. When you start looking at other people also waiting you know it's going to be a while for yours.

Authentic, traditional, but unique. great margaritas and service was excellent. really liked the atmosphere.

Excellent food and service. We had the chicken mole enchiladas and green Chile enchiladas lunch plate specials.

We look for a place with lots of cars and this was it. The restaurant was serving mostly locals so we took that as a recommendation. Family friendly. Breakfast, lunch and dinner served. Menu had enough offerings to satisfy anyone. Moderate prices, lots of food per portion. Daily specials. Delicious margaritas. My burrito was huge, not very spicy. Delicious. Hubs had combo plate. His dinner came out on two plates plus tortillas in warmer. Again, excellent. On,y negative comment was the chips and salsa usually complimentary with dinner was an additional &4.99 add on. We passed. Would definitely go again.

stopped after several months of visiting the San Antonio Missions and always seeing the parking lot full and very full at lunch time. I was not dissappointed...great mexican food and the right price for lunch. Enjoyed the cheese enchilada, the tamale and taco combination called the THREE AMIGOS......

The atmosphere is always welcoming, the place is always clean, the servers always friendly. I have never had a bad experience eating here. The food is always hot and delicious. One of my favorite places in San Antonio.

On the recommendation of our hotel concierge, we had lunch in between visiting the various Missions. The food was wonderful - excellent Mexican flavours - and very reasonable priced. Service was quick and good. Warning - the portions are Texas sized. My burrito could've fed two or three. Was tasty though!!

Excellent food off the beaten path. Good breakfast menu, great service, and tasty sauces. Easy to find and worth the stop.

We had a late lunch here. The server was very nice and was always close by if we wanted something. A friend ordered a salad in a taco with mandarin oranges, chicken salad and more that was extremely tasty. My chicken fajitas were very good.

We had the enchiladas dinner and it was really good . It was hot and cheesy ! The tortillas were fresh and delish . I loved there salsa ,but the chips aren't very good .Overall we had a very nice dinner !

I grew up in this area of San Antonio before Nicha's was even in existence, and had eaten here on a previous trip to the area about two years ago. I had thought the food was so good, that this was on my must do list for a return trip. However, this time I was disappointed in the food. The service was average, but the hot sauce which had a good flavor was so runny you could hardly keep any of it on the tortilla chips. I had really looked forward to the puffy tacos, and this time they had too much of a corn meal taste for my liking. I don;t remember them tasting that way before. The sopapillas were still very good as I remembered them from the last time. I doubt if I would go out of my way to return if we ever visit San Antonio again.

We were staying in town for one night on our way to south Texas and decided to try this restaurant out. The staff was so friendly and the food was delicious! When we told them we had never been there before, the manager brought us all a complimentary cup of chicken tortilla soup to try....It was AMAZING!! Definitely recommend this place!

We both noticed the fajitas for 2 had much more meat than a prior meal, at a torally different restaurant. Also, many happy locals were dining. Well, it was happy hour...HH appetizers were the right price and size to fend off our hunger. Don't tell the S.O. but my BFF and I shared a mango margarita. Low vitamin C what can I say? A bonus was my 1st view of local Mission! I'll be back..to sightsee and enjoy Nicha's again.

This place is legit! Great service and the best Mexican cuisine I've had. We're from Michigan visiting for my brother's BMT graduation. I wish we had Mexican food like this up north.

The chips and salsa were great! I had the street tacos which is a fan favorite. I highly recommend the Cadillac Margarita for the drinkers out there.

First time here...everyone was friendly, loved our waiter...big portions, food was pleasant..margaritas & soppapias were a hit..!!

We wanted an authentic Mexican meal why we were in San Antonio. They had the best food we had in the three days we were there. The food was so good. The service was excellent. We will be going back there next time we are in town.

This place was awesome! Cheese enchiladas had a tone of sauce which I personally love. And the tortillas where so fluffy and good. They where so sweet to. This was our first visit and they gave me and my husband a free tortilla soup to try. And of course it was delicious. We will be back next time we visit San Antonio for sure. Oh and even there salsa was good.

We went with the family, had the daddy’s plate street tacos and green enchilada. And some margaritas to go with it, followed by a lovely dessert of a light pastry with honey. Service was excellent, friendly speedy and everything tasted delicious . Great place to take your family.

Local recommendation, Nicha's was where the locals eat. Not fancy, not pricy and expect to wait a bit during busy times. Margaritas are traditional and very good. Do not pass on the tortilla soup, you will be forever sorry! Over all a, very good meal and if we lived in the area we certainly would become part of the locals that hang at Nicha's

We have been eating here at Nicha's Comida Mexicana for years. We enjoy the atmosphere, the music, and just being able to hang with family and eat. The food is delicious, my favorite plate is the Cheese Enchilada Plate. And we have made it a point to try all 3 Nicha's locations, our favorite spot will always be the one on Roosevelt.

With covid 19 going on you can call in and then bring it right out too with a mask you pay with a credit card or cash it's very convenient the store's been around for years and is by far one of the better restaurants in San Antonio not only that it's not over price like downtown The service is excellent the people are nice very professional and you always get what you ask for there's never an error on your order and if there is they will replace the meal at no charge

Went for an early dinner at 5:30. Seated right away. Happy hour Margaritas were great. Service was great and food was great too.

The deep fried burrito was a hit with our group as was the empanadas. Efficient service and good food!

This is a wonderful restaurant for excellent Mexican food. You can tell how great it is by the number of locals eating here. Service is fast and friendly and the food is delightful and inexpensive. Highly recommended.

The Park Ranger at Mission San Jose recommended this place as where the locals go, and it was fantastic. We liked it so much we went back for lunch the next day. I wasn't sure how spicy the mole would be, so our waitress brought me a sample to try. We had the green enchiladas both days it was go good. Great fast friendly service, lots of food, very reasonable. A must visit.

Great food, good family atmosphere, good prices and wonderful staff. Visited with my daughter and 15 month old grandson and had a wonderful meal. Very clean!

Seated quickly on a Friday. Service was superb as well as the food. My husband says it's the best he's ever had. Never seen such quality fajitas. Empanadas, Verde enchiladas, refried beans, salsa, everything was delicious.

This place is a local favorite for me. The good is amazing and the servers are friendly! The parking lot is very small and the restaurant itself isn't too large but in my opinion is definitely worth the wait. The prices are reasonable and the have an amazing happy hr where ANY appetizer is half off!!!!

We were visiting from out of town and at the recommendation of our hotel staff we gave this place a try. They were busy and our waiter seemed to be overwhelmed. I had to remind him that we needed silverware and napkins, had to ask for chips and salsa, and had to flag him down every time we needed drink refills. I'm not sure if he was new but it was a bit ridiculous. The wait for the food was slow. The food was ok. Being a native Texan it was nothing to write home about. There are so many Mexican restaurants in the San Antonio area that if we return I'm not sure I would eat here again simply because nothing about the experience stood out except the slow service.

We followed the advice of an employee at the San Jose Mission to eat here. Wow!! Our party of six was raving about the food!! The service was good and prompt with filling up the chips and salsa and making sure everyone had drinks. We ate Mexican for three days straight while in San Antonio and this was a favorite.

Ate at niches late nite on Saturday. We had good service and very tasty food. We ordered enchiladas, burritos, and enjoyed the chips and salsa. Food came out quick. I am still craving more enchiladas from here.

No chips and salsa was offered and that is my favorite thing about eating Mexican food the food it self was ok don’t believe I’ll be back

Nicha's has good food but NOT good service. We have gone to this location maybe 6 times and each time, our service was HORRIBLE. Since we seem to always have a bad experience, we hadn't dined there in a long while. Our most recent visit, 08.29.2014 wasn't any better. We showed up around 5, (which was perfect timing because this place gets packed). Once we were seated we ordered happy hour drinks. The menu says draft beer happy hour but when we asked for it the server said, "Oh, that's not at this location. We only have happy hour draft at our other location, here, it's full priced bottle only." Okay, fine, but perhaps the restaurant should remove that sign from all tables. I decided to order a taco salad. Waiter says, "beef or chicken." I reply, "beef." Taco salad is brought to the table . . . NO BEEF. It was just taco salad fixings and re-fried pinto beans in a shell. I'm not a fan of the shell so I couldn't tell you if it was good or not. When the salad arrived I requested salsa and sour cream. Server took forever to bring the salsa and never brought the sour cream. Okay, no big deal. I probably shouldn't be eating sour cream anyways. Finally, the check comes out and, instead of politely saying something like, "here is your check, I will be your cashier when you are ready to check out" he quickly walks by, lays it down in motion and says, i'll take it when you're ready." He was practically on the other side of the restaurant before he could even finish his sentence! I open the bill and what do you know . . . I was charged for sour cream! Ugh. Our server definitely did not pay attention or care about us as his guest. Lucky for him, I know he gets a crappy pay and left him 18% tip but I do not plan on returning. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 times . . . damn, shame on ME! Oh, and if you DO decide to eat there ... good luck on parking. Crappiest restaurant parking in San Antonio.

We eat a lot of Tex-Mex and this was a real treat. The food was delicious and the service was great. The restaurant was colorful and comfortable. It is located a half a block north of the Mission San Jose, so it gets a lot of tourist traffic. Usually tourist Mexican diners are so-so to average, but this place is great. Don't miss it, you'll enjoy the experience.

I've never had a bad meal at Nicha's. Everything from their tacos to their fajitas is fabulous but their cheese enchilada's have to be the best around. They are truly melt in your mouth delicious! We always make it a point to eat at at least one of their two locations a couple of times during a week stay in San Antonio.

I have visited San Antonio for over 30 years and am always looking for homestyle Texmex cooking. Nicha's was the ticket. I had the enchilada and fajita combo plate and sampled the chile rellano my wife ordered. All of it was quite tasty!

Stumbled upon this place on trip advisor and decided to give it a shot. This is some of the best mexican food I have eaten. My son devoured the queso, the enchiladas were delicious and my husband enjoyed the street tacos. I would definitely eat here again and would highly suggest it to anyone visiting the San Antonio area!

All the food is fantastic the best in all of San Antonio comparing to all others and I have visited 95% of San Antonio s. Mexican resturants. Not to mention the fabulous service .

Great place for any type of party will accommodate large parties. Love the foods everything is fresh. Open daily expect Sunday. Friendly employees. Very clean.

While touring the missions, at the recommendation of a park volunteer, we stopped at Nicha's for a late lunch (in between Mission San Jose and Concepcion). We arrived at 2:10 and surprisingly had to wait 20 minutes for a table (the restaurant was packed with regulars). When we were done with our meal at 3:30, the dining area had cleared out. Which makes sense as they have $5 specials that start at 3:30pm (they also have lunch specials that end at 2pm). For 4 of us, our total was ~$65 including tip. This included 3 sodas at $2.49 each (sadly they only serve Pepsi products unless you want a Mexican Coke which we assumed did not include refills) and a Prickly Pear Margarita for $8 which was huge. Our meals included Fish Taco's, Fajita Beef Burritos, and the Bandera Enchiladas. All were good and had very large portions, but not something we would crave and go out of our way to return. Nicha's is definitely a nice lunch stop while touring the missions though.

My wife and I went for lunch on a Friday at 1:30 and it was busy... a very good sign! We were promptly seated and the waitress was immediately there to help us. We didn't really know what one of the specials was, so she brought out a small bowl for us to try it! Who does that anymore?! So my wife had the cup of tortilla soup with flauta and taco and I had the cheese enchiladas smothered in chili, both house specials. Wow were they ever good! Plus they had a great green hot sauce that had great kick to it. Overall, the place is spot on with price, flavor, and friendliness!

We ended up enjoying two meals here, after a wonderful breakfast, we decided to come back another day for a very late lunch. They were busy both times, but had open tables. I had huevos divorce and my husband had a similar meal with beef on eggs. Incredible! We had the three different types of enchiladas for dinner. Mole chicken, green sauce chicken and cheese. Really good. We had same young lady serving us both times, very nice service. We will be back when we visit again!

We were recommended to this place by a local and we were glad we stopped in. The tortillas are homemade and so delicious! The place was packed but the service was good. My only complaint is the coffee - weak.

In San Antonio from Tulsa. Chosen by random for lunch because the parking lot was absolutely packed. The Salsa was excellent, I mean fantastic, and everyone enjoyed their meal, ate with teen age daughter and son. I got the burrito and filled with the meat choice recommended by the waitress. It was Excellent. I wish more restaurants would serve good food. This was a super surprise as it was chosen by random and so many restaurants are truly awful. Highly recommend.

Nicha's on Roosevelt is the best Mexican restaurant on the southside. However, the north side location is better. This restaurant is the old "minit taco". Try the puffy chicken tacos or the chili rellenos. You will not be disappointed.

Refried beans actually tasted of beans! not like the warmed vomit you get in most places. Three of us ate the most tasty mexican food we have had.

After a so-so disappointing meal at Rio Rio Cantina, our hotel manager recommended this place. I would not miss the tortilla soup. Best I've ever had. It was so busy at 11:45 a.m., that I had to park in a non-space space in the lot (almost in the street!)

First strike was getting skipped over by the hostess (seating). We ordered the street tacos and Mexican combo plate, and $10 margaritas to take the edge off a stressful day. Second strike came when the margs arrived, no taste of any alcohol and it was too sweet to enjoy. Lastly, the tacos were offered with no sprinkling of cheese or avocado, just unflavored picadillo on a mini tortilla. The enchiladas weren't seasoned, and 3 small chunks of fajita didn't make the dismal meal any better. This was disappointing all the way around, as we tried the place because we'd heard good things about the Southside location. I'd suggest a kitchen staff trained in traditional tex mex style cooking, and an experienced bartender, as the restaurant was nicely decorated and clean.

Decided to eat lunch here after visiting the Missions. Was a bit hesitant because it looked like a big chain restaurant. We loved everything about this place. The people were friendly and provided great service. Food and drinks were very good and prices were definitely reasonable. Our party was very happy and satisfied!

It kinda reminded me of the Midwest. Was hoping for flavor. They had no spice and the margaritas are sweat! If this is what you are looking for go her. I was let down. Thought it was going to be awesome because it was packed.

The atmosphere was very nice and majority of food was good. Just don’t get the soup - it just was missing something major. Other dishes ordered were good. Don’t go if looking for fast food. Would not say they were slow, just not fast food. Service was GREAT!!!

Visited with a group on a Friday night in time for a Happy Hour Margarita. At $4.50 it is a bargain. Although very busy our wait time was short. SInce we had no reservations they seated us at two tables ( we had limited time since we were committed to a function at Mission San Jose). Our servers were wonderful rushing our orders. Our food was delicious. We will be going back.

This place was recommended by an employee at the hotel I was staying. I called to get a take out because it was late and ordered the popular tortilla soup combo. It's a nice looking building. The employees were not friendly, it was like at some bad fast food service. The soup was good, but the chicken taco was not that impressive. Maybe dining in would be better, but take out wasn't a good experience.

Minutes away from Traveler’s World RV Resort, this restaurant was recommended on TripAdvisor as were several others.....dang....EAT HERE! 5 of us ate and all meals were great, queso- Yum! I ordered the Tamiquena (ribeye-5oz. and cheese enchilada and a crispy beef taco) Yum Yum! Sweet husband ordered the Mexican Dinner which was great (chalupa, puff taco, cheese enchiladas), and one of the girlies had the street tacos both pastor and steak and ate all four! The one negative is this- another girly ordered tacos - regular beef tacos- order of 3 came to table and she ate #1, then #2 and that was great but by # 3 it was so soooo soggy it could not be eaten. Isaac our waiter was awesome and probably would have replaced the taco but the teenager did not want to “impose”, plus he was super busy. This restaurant was still on a wait when we left. Giant family gatherings of 20+ would stroll in and then tables of 2,7, and our party of 5. Our wait was only 10 minutes at most.

We loved the food and service at Nicha's, and were impressed when they brought us samples of their tortilla soup upon learning that we were first time customers. Everything was delicious - from the soup to the entrees to the sopapillas - and I highly recommend checking this out. It's right near some of the Spanish missions and is a perfect place to stop for lunch in between visiting the various missions.

I recently enjoyed my first visit to San Antonio with a friend who grew up there. So I knew I could count on her for bringing me to great Mexican food. Nichas served up excellent shrimp quesadillas and the best tamales I've ever eaten. Moreover, the staff delivered excellent service. This is a family owned establishment and it shows by the dedication the staff to preparing and serving quality food with a quality presentation. AND when the staff found out it was my first visit to San Antonio, the owner came out to greet me and my friend and gave me a free sample of a tamale before I even ordered my meal! Awesome experience!!

I now understand why over the last week we have been in the area the parking lot here was packed from early morning to well after the dinner hour. We went for dinner last night and were very impressed. We did have to wait about 15 min for a table as it was packed. The wait staff is excellent and we felt well "taken care of". The pork Carnitis I had were some of the best I have eaten and the ranchero beans were excellent. My wife had the Carnitis tacos and loved them as well. Everything was well seasoned and the green salsa added a very nice spicy touch. Prices were very reasonable as well. If you are there before 7 they have a special appetizer menu for $5. We started off with some excellent cheese and bean nachos. This had some of the better refried beans I have had recently. If in the area make it a lunch or dinner stop and don't be put off by the packed parking lot. The food is worth the 15 min wait for a table. BObK

We had lunch after visiting San Jose Mission, which is a few blocks away. I had the puffy tacos with beans and rice and a sangria wine. Justin provided great service and the food was excellent. The manager stopped by the table and was so friendly. He explained how they make the special green sauce. I had to write this review to help spread the word.

My husband had the soft tacos and I had the street tacos as well as margaritas. Both were excellent ( and my husband is picky about his tacos). The service was friendly and fast and the prices were reasonable. It was the perfect stop for a late afternoon/ early evening stop.

We walked to Nincha's after taking in the San Antonio Mission. There was a waiting line a 3 ;p.m. which indicates the food is good. The wait was a short 15 minutes. The food while not amazing was very solid traditional Mexican. The service was good, prices good and we would stop there again.

Quality food with large portions at a respectable price. Friendly service and they'll sing for birthdays! Eat well and go see the mission across the street!

We gathered for a family birthday party. the staff sang happy birthday and it was a hit. Dinner was delicious. We had a sampler platter - LA BOTANA PLATTER and I loved everything that I tried. I ordered the tortilla soup and it was delicious. Several people ordered fajitas and loved them. We had SOPAPILLAS for dessert. They were beautiful - light, puffy and delicious, a perfect ending.

I now live in Houston,Texas but every time I come to San Antonio, I make sure I eat at Nicha's Comida Mexicana located at 3119 Roosevelt Ave in San Antonio, Texas. The "Mexican Plate" is my favorite as it has two enchilladas, a "Puffy Taco, and a Tostado accompanied by Spanish rice and beans. I can't get "Puffy Tacos" in Houston and Nichas has some of the best. Also, their homemade tortillas are to die for. The service is always quick and friendly and the prices are reasonable. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone craving Texas "Tex-Mex" quisine.

After a number of so-so meals at Mexican restaurants during two visits in a month to Texas, finally had a very satisfying meal. Although we stopped by on a mid-weekday afternoon, the restaurant had a very good crowd. We went through two helping of taco chips and a zesty dip when our meals arrived. Not slow service, but good chips. My choice of a flame grilled chicken topped by Monterrey Jack cheese was very good. My friend, who is a native of San Antonio, made a good pick for lunch. His choice of Carne A La Mexicana was zesty and delicious. Happy to finally have a satisfying Mexican meal. Service was good although we were never asked if we wanted refills on our ice tea.

We had purchased a JROTC Veterans $20 coupon(s), Nicha's Rest. with "Buy 1 entree, get 1 free". We NEVER got our entree free. The Tamarind Marg. was $11 and just water, carnitas were NOT fresh (days old).

We stopped here for lunch because it was so crowded that we figured that was a good indicator of their food. The service was excellent, food was, too. The tortilla soup was delicious and tasted home made. The chicken tacos were good, too! Total bill for two of us was $17.

Our server, Sammy, was excellent and the food was out of this world!!! Nice family atmosphere and when the food came - if you go hungry it is no ones fault but your own. The portions was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious!!! Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone out for a fabulous Mexican meal in San Antonio!!!

This place was recommended by a friend of mine and i'm really glad I went, the service is spot on and the food was awesome. The green sauce is hot but really good.

Visited on Monday night. The restaurant was busy, but the crew worked quickly and effeciently thru seats and drinks. Ordeted the Dad's plate with cheese enchiladas, rice and a split with one beef and ond one chicken. Food came quickly...All enchilafas were hot, freshly prepared and very good. Waiter was friendly and efficient. Excellent time...

My wife and I and another couple stopped in after visiting Mission San Juan. The food was excellent Tex-Mex traditional cuisine. The staff was responsive and friendly. The wait was short. The decor was traditional. We left stuffed. We had anticipated splitting the famous cheese cake, but we were too full and satisfied. I would highly recommend to anyone needing a Mexican food lunch.

Please please please do your homework and if you want a bite to eat while visiting the missions in the area and don’t just default to the chain places. Nicha’s is just as conveniently located and so much tastier. We were there for lunch and while the line seemed crazy long, we managed to get seated in about 15 minutes. Was worth the wait. Staff were super nice and gave us a complimentary soup since it was our first visit, and everything in general was quite tasty.

We had a very enjoyable meal at this popular restaurant. Though they do not serve beer on tap, they have a decent selection of bottled. The Margaritas are a little smaller than usual, but very tasty. The Mexican plates were good with an unusual puffy taco. My husband said his beef carne asada was very good. My tortilla soup was loaded with chicken, cheese and vegetables. The broth looked greasy, but did not taste so. The service was good, considering it was Saturday noon during Rodeo. I would recommend this restaurant.

Awesome enchiladas verdes!! The service was amazing! Was a family friendly spot as well! Inwould recommend 100%

I've lived in San Antonio since 1997 and this is a favorite! Good food and good service. The salsa for the chips is so good you could eat it by itself.

We were at San Antonio for family vacation and we stopped in for dinner. Our waitress was awesome!! Friendly and attentive. Food and drinks were delicious!

Great food and great Margarita's.....Homemade Corn & Flour Tortillas, good Salsa with Chips..The food is Green Enchiladas or awesome. Breakfast is also very good...Cant go wrong...

I haven't gotten the chance to dine in, but recently used Uber Eats to order food from this location. The food we received was so delicious and had incredibly generous portions. I suggest the Chicken Tortilla Soup or the Green Chile Enchiladas!

While visiting my son and his family we came to the southside location as it was about a 15 minute drive from their home. The staff was very attentive and courteous. The menu has many dishes to choose from. The salsa was very good and spicy. The food is excellent along with the cold beer and drinks. This was my second time here and I highly recommend it.

Nicha's on Roosevelt St. has got to be one of the best Mexican restaurants in San Antonio. On any given day there will be a line of people waiting to get a table, that is a testament of how good the food is,,, one of my favorites is the Saltillo Plate, taco, enchiladas, rice and refried beans, and the green chili hot sauce that is on the table with the chips mmm! so good!! I'm pretty sure the flour tortillas are homemade too...Go hungry! you'll eat everything on your plate!

My daughter who has a new baby, lives close to the restaurant. We ordered take out because of baby. As mentioned the salsa was good but spicy, very spicy! My only complaint is I wish they gave us more tortillas! I can't wait to eat in, maybe at Christmas time!

My family and I had visited three of the Missions and needed lunch. We were unfamiliar with the area and just happened across this place. The parking lot was crowded even though it was pushing 1:30, so we took it as a good sign. We weren't disappointed--we all enjoyed our lunches, and the price was right because the lunch specials were available until 2:00. A fine experience!

Went here for supper after being gone from San Antonio for a while. Nothing has changed. This is an awesome place for authentic San Antonio Mexican Food. The Chips and Salsa are a plus here. This is made fresh daily and is so delicious. I had my usual of Tortilla Soup with Chicken Taco and Chicken Flauta. As usual this was superb. Got there at Happy Hour an we got seated right away. Frozen Margarita was great and the service was great too. Will definitely be returning to this gem of the Southside!!

My wife and I ate dinner here. Ample parking, nice atmosphere and good service. We started with the usual chips and salsa. Average chips and so/so salsa. My wife had Fish tacos, beans and rice..She thought the tacos were very good. I had beef tacos, beans and rice. The tortilla shells looked and tasted like Taco Bell shells. The beef interior was only fair. The beans were terrible, some sort of off taste. I give this restaurant an average rating because my wife liked her food. If it was based solely on my meal it would rate poor.

After touring the San Jose Mission we drove about three blocks and stopped at Nicha's for lunch. It is a very popular place and was crowded but the hostess seated us within five minutes. The menu has a variety of dishes, and as the food passed us to other tables it all looked good. I ordered the slim plate that had soup and a taco and avocado and lettuce. There was a lot of food and more that I could finish. I also ordered a tamale and it was dry and disappointing. The soup was delicious. My husband order the enchiladas and said they were very good. The cup of beans were delicious and flavorful . When the bill came I saw that they had charged us $3.95 for the single tamale. I brought this to the attention of our wait-person and she corrected the bill and actually removed the charge for the tamale. There are two location in town and I am sure we will be returning to one of the two when we are back in San Antonio

We ate at the West Ave location for the first time. I have eaten at the Rosevelt location many times always very good and very authentic. The food was just as good as the south side location. I grew up up on the east side of SA and I know authentic Tex -mex when I taste it. The food reminds me of the time I would go to friends homes and their mom’s would cook enchiladas and tacos. We live in Houston now and will drive to SA to eat authentic Tex mex.

If you’re visiting the Missions, make a stop at this place. The food is amazing (the best refried beans I’ve ever had), huge margaritas, and delicious fajitas. Don’t hesitate! Give this place a chance and you won’t regret it.

Good food and very nice service. Drinks were cold and the food tasted very fresh. House Margarita was very good and resembled those from across the border.

We enjoyed lunch here - close the the San Jose Mission. Food was good and service pleasant. I had the enchiladas with awesome sauce.

we ate here based on a recommendation. The chips and salsa, along with our drink order took quite a while to be delivered to our table. I should have known then that the wait service would be lacking the entire meal. Chips and salsa as well as drinks ran "dry" with the waiter Michael being AWOL most of the night. We were eating early, around 5 pm and the restaurant was not crowded. While we were there they had some type of employee meeting, again ignoring the customers, while another contingency of employees were busy decorating for Christmas. While the food was good, after finally being delivered, I will probably steer clear of here on my next visit because of the service.

We were a party of 8 and had to wait 30 minutes for a table because they were very busy. It was well worth the wait and we enjoyed a cold beer while we waited. The food was delicious. I heard no complaints from our party. The waitress was very helpful despite being so busy; she came by our table twice to check on us. The food came out without long delay. We paid average $15 per person. I will definitely go back when we visit the Missions again.

This is one bustling south side mexican food joint near the old Mission Drive-In. I love this part of town with all the history of the missions and nostalgia of the long gone outdoor movies at the Mission. The restaurant itself is bright, cheery and usually crowded at popular lunch and dinner times. They literally pack 'em in with some areas a little tight for the wait people to pivot in and out of. The food we had from the bean and cheese nachos to the beef enchiladas to the fluffy flour tortillas were what one would expect from a well established neighborhood tex-mex purveyor. The crowd will tell you that. Quite a drive if you live on the north side. Their sister restaurant on 410 has very good food as well, but not quite the same ambiance. For the come and get it - dig in when you got it family style feel, this is the place. The location on the northside has a little more refined less frenetic feel to it. This would be a very good choice if you are in the area visiting the Missions and have to have a Mexican food fix. Cool off with a frozen margarita then enjoy a good selection of tex-mex favorites to choose from.

This restaurant was recommended by a ranger at the last mission stop. The place was packed with locals on a Tuesday afternoon. It was a nice TexMex meal.

After our wonderful tour of the San Jose mission by the National Park Service ranger, we asked an employee in the gift shop for a lunch recommendation nearby. He asked if we liked Tex-Mex and when we said yes he replied that Nicha's was the one. Just a couple of miles away going back toward downtown we saw the parking lot overflowing but they had annex parking next door across a side street. Locals and tourists were all coming together for what we would find out was some great food and service. We were seated immediately after worrying there might be a wait from seeing the parking lot. Our server was Irma. Friendly, efficient and actually happy we were there. My wife loves green tomatillo sauce but it kind be too spicy for her at some restaurants. She asked Irma if it was very spicy and Irma happily went to the kitchen to get her a small sample to taste. She loved it and after her meal, she said it might be the best she ever had. We both had the lunch special green enchilada plate with rice, charro beans and two really good tortillas. Food came out hot and fast! Irma was the best part of our experience there as she is such a nice, nice lady. Absolutely zero complaints or even anything I can think of I would change. If you're visiting the missions' area in SA and need a good meal with great service, give Nicha's a visit. They have two other locations in SA but this is the one I can vouch for completely.

Nichas does serve great food. It has been a favorite of ours for years. But now that they are a chain (prices have always been higher end, parking has always been lacking, always have to wait for a table) we are looking for another local haunt. Nichas changed their menus and now "no substitutions", like a big chain. The manager at the south side store (the original) said she could not sway from the menu anymore, even for us regular customers. I couldn't get my child's plate green enchilada since it isn't on the child's plate menu. The other night I couldn't get my carnitas quesadilla because it wasn't Friday, even tho they still have carnitas on the menu anyday. Just not our place anymore.

We were served a botana platter and street tacos after 50 minutes (we arrived at 1:45). The food was great....tacos flavorful and borracho beans amazing. The two waiters we dealt with were not friendly. If it hadn't been for that and the SLOW service, it would be 5 stars. I think waiter forgot to input order.

First thing Our waiter was outstanding! Nice friendly and very attentive even on a busy night . (Sanchez) was his name I believe great guy. Give him⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had the unfortunate mishap of meeting your hostess Ashely very rude and not welcoming we had told her we had a party of 5 adults and a baby. She called our name after we waited about 30 mins to seat us which I understand you guys were busy that's not in your control. She told us we'll have a table I the back front area .but it only sat 4 of us 2 people had to sit next to each other. She didn't warn us about just sat us there. (Also, did another party that same way and they moved too. )Which was very uncomfortable and we had one yr old with us plates were going to be hot and close together which were going to be in her reach. Then I got up and asked if we could move to the table behind us because it was bigger and she rolled her eyes and said "I guess ya" Then another waiter came out and took over the situation he was very nice and made it happen quickly mid size height, black hair in a pony tail, loud voice which we didn't I didn't mind that guy has been there for over a year. I have been coming here since I was a kid in middle school I am now 26 years old and not ever have a had a bad time. This morning I was just also at your place having breakfast and it was great and I understand I also have air problems at work too. But those air blowing system do not make the place cooler at night with a full house and the kitchen running . We were sweating and we came to celebrate my grandma's 80th birthday it did not go as planned and I have never been disappointed with this place it's like home to me here but not this time.

Excellent food and service. I've been eating there for 20 years and have never been disappointed. I love the enchiladas and chile rellenos, but I have also enjoyed their taco salad and tortilla soup. I've even ordered the corndog and fries off of the kid's menu and loved it. My family and I have eaten all over San Antonio, but we always come back here, especially if we have out of town guests.

Great food. I had Carne Guisada and my husband had Pork Carnitas and both were great. The rice and beans were good, but the best was the flour tortillas - soft and fluffy. Our waitress was attentive and the food came out quickly. No negatives. Would eat here again.

We stayed near the Missions and were looking for a Mexican restaurant. Nicha's came up as the highest rated nearby. The food was good, not as spicy as we expected. The fajitas appeared to have no seasoning--but were nicely grilled. The salsa was mostly tomato. But when the bill came we felt that it was certainly worth it -- under $30 for two including a margarita.

When in San Antonio you will find a Mexican restaurant about every block. So how do you pick a really good one? I ask, look at how full a parking lot is, then try it myself. Nicha's filled each of these criteria and did not disappoint. My test meal is always chicken enchiladas verde. I then request charro beans in lieu of refried beans. The meal was as ordered, came quickly and was excellent. Since Ibwas treating friends from St. Louis I wanted it to be right. All were pleased and Nicha's filled another requirement. Our server was excellent, friendly and informative. Go for it!

As we were being seated, they asked if this was our first time (it was) and they gave us each a complimentary cup of Tortilla Soup. It was very good, with lots of shredded chicken and veggies in it. It is a restaurant specialty. We ordered two meals with a variety of items. Everything was well made and tasty. We especially liked their red sauce. The manager came over and talked with us. The waiter was attentive and all of the staff were very friendly. The salsa was tasty and a little spicy, a little different then other Mexican restaurants. They also gave us complimentary Sopaipillas, for our 25th wedding anniversary. They were very tasty.

Loved it! Soooo tasty! Lots better than the restaurant we tried on the Riverwalk. The spinach enchiladas were so different and tasty. Rice good. Black beans just ok. The mushroom fajitas were super tasty too. Both of these dishes vegetarian friendly. The lunch #8 with three chicken items was good as well. We enjoyed the salsa and cheese dip. The great finale was the Tres Leche dessert! Yum! We got the original but they also have pineapple and chocolate (never seen those options before). If your in the area touring the missions, this is the place to eat Mexican!

We came here for dinner around 7pm. The food and service were very good. We got street tacos, enchiladas and quesadillas, all were excellent. Highly recommend this place for great Mexican food.

Excellent chips and salsa! Chicken tortilla soup had big chunks of chicken and vegetables, avocado and cheese. Delicious! Close to San Antonio Mission NHP too.

This place is amazing. Simply terrific food - I had the skillet fajitas and my wife had the chicken mole - both were delicious (best that my wife has had). Friendly service and attentive without being intrusive. Loved the Patron Margaritas as it was limey and tasteful - one of the better margaritas from any Mexican restaurant. The dessert was light and tasty with cinnamon and light sugar powder - very light in texture but wonderful.

My wife works in the area and noticed this place one afternoon. Because we were close and like Mexican food, we decided to give it a try. The parking is minimal but we showed on a Saturday late in the afternoon. Although they were busy, they got us right in, took our drink orders, and provided chips and salsa. We noticed the menu had several traditional options and a few selections that were supposed to be specialties. My wife ordered a plate including a tamale, an enchilada, and rice and beans. I had enchiladas and beef fajita meat (a combination on the menu), which included rice and beans. The food arrived quickly and was piping hot. We were both very impressed with everything we ate. However, the plates were large and neither of us were able to finish them. We will definitely be back! This might be our favorite in SA now.

Very good food and service. Away from the river walk and worth the drive. Found by accident will find my way back on purpose.

I recently rated the Sunday buffet at Nicha's on West Ave as not recommended as food was cold to luke warm. I suggested one order from menu. Today, for lunch, I did just that and everything was hot and fresh. I had shrimp tacos with sweet potato fries which was very tasty. A manager came by my table and I told her about the buffet experience and she replied she will let staff know when setting up the buffet in the morning. Recommend Nicha's.

We loved everything! We had steak fajitas. The salsa was fresh, a little hot for our taste but so good. The steak, onions and peppers came out piping hot, along with corn and flour tortillas, quac, pico de Gallo, cheese and delicious frijoles! Every part of this meal was delicious and we had great friendly service.

Our family of four ate here tonight around 7:30 p.m. You could smell the wonderfulness before we ever got out of our vehicle . It's was busy but we were seated immediately. Our waitress was wonderful! Service couldn't be any better . The salsa was amazing ! The best I've ever eaten . The food was good . Our glasses were never empty .. my son got desert with his meal . That doesn't happen in any Mexican restaurants where we live . Loved this place ....

Nicha's has always been one of the fun and nicest place that we go for happy hour. There drinks are great but the food is evening better. I doesn't matter how many you bring with you they will find a way to sit all of you together, and it doesn't matter is there is one or 30 you still get the great service that they are know for. After have all the great drink and food then it come to their deserts. I sure hope you left room for desert because if you haven't you don't know what you are going to miss because they are just unbelievable, and when it all over and you look in you wallet you going to realize that you actually have money left over. Oh!! What a night

This restaurant has better than average Tex Mex food. Fajitas are always very good. You can expect the restaurant to be very busy any evening. They do a pretty good job of serving people and average wait in evenings can be 15-30 minutes. Order some drinks and wait for your table. They have some great margaritas (Cadillac is my favorite). As others have said the parking lot is small, but they have an overflow parking around corner off Roosevelt.

Was seated and after 20 minutes of reading the menu and having servers walk by and ignore me I left. I told the hostess on the way and she just gave me a blank look an said nothing

As a local in San Antonio, I can honestly say you won't find better Mexican food in the city. This is our family's favorite place to eat and it never disappoints. The staff is always friendly and the food is always fresh and delicious. The chips and salsa are so good and we often get an order to go for later. The sweet tea is the best. The parking lot in front is small, but there is additional parking across the street. If you have to wait because it's crowded, I promise it's worth the wait!

We were visiting San Antonio so we had no place in mind for lunch. Saw lots of cars so we stopped in for lunch. Had to wait half an hour. Great portion size and very good prices.

When you arrive at a place at opening and there are people waiting to get seats you know that you made a good choice. We had our choice of seats and noted that San Antonio Police were visiting too - another sign of a good place; police eat a lot of meals out and when several gather at one place it is usually good. We had a great breakfast with great coffee and plentiful servings. We loitered a bit waiting for our next stop to open, they kept the coffee coming and the owner came out to visit with us.Very friendly and inviting place!

Had lunch on a Saturday, service was great food was fantastic. Loved the chips and salsa here. Family atmosphere great value.

I met three colleagues for lunch here one day because it was rated as a very good Mexican restaurant. I will start with our server says her name is Sandra A. We told her this was our first time there she was very gracious and explained some things on the menu. She was extremely attentive. The food was absolutely amazing. It was a little bit of drive to get there, but all four of us were extremely pleased with the quality and quantity of food we received.and again our server was absolutely delightful. This was our first time here, but we will definitely be back.

My first trip here from North Texas. I had the Chicken Enchiladas dinner with Tomatillo sauce. I added Salsa Verda. It was easy to taste the difference in the chicken. This was not the typical poached flavorless chicken. Lots of flavor. I added a fried egg. I actually thought the egg was poached it was cooked so well. No crispy edges. Yolk was perfectly cooked. The borracho beans were tender and full of flavor also. The tortillas are made in house. Device was magnificent. I was so full I couldn’t eat the dessert. Killed me because it looked as amazing as the lunch. My only complaint is parking. Very limited parking.

Selected Nicha’s since it was a highly rated option near the San Antonio Missions National Park Visitor Center. Did not disappoint. Was a bit worried about parking as we drive up but discovered a parking lot for the restaurant across the street to the north. A busy parking lot is a good sign. We had 7 with Grandpa and Grandma along and it took a bit for them to find a suitable spot for us. But the wait was not excessive and the staff was super friendly. If you are on the near-southside of San Antonio or visiting the Missions NP, this is a good choice!

Went for an early dinner and were seated immediately. 20 minutes later, the restaurant was full at 5 p.m. so glad we went early! The service was excellent. Great house margarita on happy hour special. Complimentary chips and salsa were good. Had street tacos and fish tacos. The fish tacos were good but a little on the bland side. Street tacos were Meh. Not much meat or toppings. We've had much better street tacos in Utah. Surprising and disappointing to not get great tex-mex in Texas! Since we were visitors, we weren't sure if it was a chain restaurant or not and that might have had something to do with it. We usually try to avoid chains while on vacation but wanted something with air conditioning!

Service is always great! Foof is abundant, hot and delicious! The sopapillas are a greaat Mexican dessert!

We were on our last day in San Antonio. We were hungry for good food. We asked a local and were told to come to Nicha's. We were greeted at the door by a hostess and the owner, who told us as we were being seated that he would be by shortly to say hello. To our surprise, he arrived back before our waitress did to personally deliver tortilla soup to each of us (it was DELICIOUS!)! The menu offered enough options to keep me occupied while I ate my soup. As a side note, excellent salsa! My wife and I enjoy Tex-Mex and Mexican food to a degree that would baffle most people. Our experience at this restaurant, in all aspects, was excellent! Enjoy the service, enjoy the decorations, but mostly enjoy the food! Thank you Nicha's, for a great memory of our trip!

Other than the long lines and slightly high priced food.. it's GREAT! Delicious food, soft tortillas, and I love being a repeat customer!

We arrived and promptly ordered two drinks, queso and appetizers. After 1/2 an hour we had received 2 drinks one of which was so sweet (it was the hot margaritas with jalapeños) that we asked to return it. We were offered another drink, but that one took 30 min., so it was declined. After a total of 45 min we had complained of the slowness of the drink order, then the sweetness and not receiving the queso or the appetizers . We continued to wait for service or dinner. Finally, we approached the bar and placed an order for two beers and took them back to our table. Then we noticed all the tables were filled with Hispanic and Hispanic families except us. We also noticed those that arrived after us were served drinks, appetizer and dinner. They were waiting on their checks. We again asked for the manager (our fourth visit with him) to announce we were leaving. We also mentioned the likely possibly of the race card being played. He is young so he didn't understand the underlying problems people have. Anyway, if you are a patient Hispanic, I think it may be a great place to try.

After touring the missions this is a great sit down local style Southwestern Mexican resturant. Reasonable lunch specials , wide range of choices , cold delicious iced tea.

Enjoyed the visit, the street tacos we're really good and the wife's fresca margarita was great. An overall good meal and visit.

You have got to try it. No such thing as a bad item on the menu. It is a quaint little place but well worth it!

We went for a birthday celebration and got a birthday coupon but the manager said too bad I’m not sorry that I need the coupon number, Internet was slow and she said too bad. That is the worst manager.

I went to the restaurant and got mediocre service, food was decent. I tipped $4 and the waitress Blanca Vasquez decided to add $10 more to the tip. The manager seemed to care but they should’ve refunded the total amount, not just the tip. I won’t go here again. KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS!

Margaritas, Queso, Guacamole and enchiladas led to a great night! The service was excellent and they were there for all our needs. The mariachi band actually had talent! Very reasonable pricing.

love the food here u need to try arthurs plate lots of food for a amazeing price and u need to have sammy as your watress she works in the morning best watress they have there by far-zacheria barrientos

If you are looking for really good tex mex in the missions area, look no further. We had the chicken mole, tamles, enchiladas & beef tacos. All good. We wished we were in town one more day so we could return.

We were touring the missions when our two teenage girls starting getting "hangry". Not familiar with the area, we decided just to find a place along the way to grab some lunch. We noticed this place was PACKED so we stopped. It was amazing. Food portions were HUGE. They had the Mexican cokes and the price was right. Service was way fast and really personable. So glad we took a chance and stopped!!

If you are out seeing the Missions, this is across the street from the San Jose Mission and down a block ( directly across from the library). Great place to stop for a margarita and some TASTY Mexican food. My spouse got a fried burrito that he said was delicious! I got a variety plate ( taco, enchilada and tamale) and all 3 items were good. Their chili sauce is to DIE for!! My enchilada was covered in this sauce and it was amazing! Get something with that sauce! Our service was friendly and very attentive. The place is very clean and had a fun happy atmosphere. We figured it would be good with the parking lot full of cars! It’s a locals eating place and it will not disappoint you!

We came to the establishment by recommendation of the hotel doorman, and he was right! Although they were quite busy, we didn't have a wait to get a table. The waitress politely answered our questions about some of the menu items, even though she was very busy. The food was hot when it arrived, and it did not take long to get our food, considering how busy they were that day. The food was excellent! We liked everything we ordered, and the portions were big. So big that we had to skip dessert because we were stuffed. Highly recommend getting here! One thing we did have trouble with, though, was finding the place. Their sign is obstructed by a tree, if I remember correctly, and we drove by it twice before seeing it. Also, the parking lot in front of the restaurant is not the only one they have. There are 2 other lots on a side street for their customers.

We like good Mexican food. This was just average and not really worth the stop. The staff was friendly but the room was loud and we had trouble hearing each other. Husband got the Carne guisada. The meat itself was tender but the sauce tasted like wolf brand chili. The tortillas were uneven with one side being thick and the other side thin. They weren't cooked and were still doughy. I had chicken enchiladas and removed the tortilla wrap on the 2nd one to just eat the meat. It was alright.

On Saturday went to the Nicha's off of 410. Yes they were busy but waited 20 minutes for a table and yet no one came to use to let us know that they working on a table for us. Well after waiting for a while just as we were ready to leave we get buzzed and was lead to a table that was in the corner and the table was wobbly the service was bad the food was not that good and the staff just wanted to take your order to get you out of there as soon as possible. WILL NOT BE GOING THERE ANY MORE.

We stopped here for lunch after a recommendation from one of the Park Rangers at the nearby Mission San Jose. The meal was delicious and very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend a stop here.

All I can is that the food is excellent. The staff is friendly and service is quick. Its a good spot to stop by when visiting San Jose Mission.

We stopped at Nicha’s for a late lunch after visiting two of the San Antonio Missions. It was jam packed with patrons, many who clearly were locals. We had a great experience. My sister in law got the mango margarita and the glass was rimmed with chili powder and sugar; my taste from her huge drink was delicious. The four of us liked the warm chips and salsa, and each our meals were tasty but were way too much food. Fun decor is a nice touch.

Judging from the parking lot (full) I thought we were going to be in for a wait but we got seated within five minutes. There were five of us including two kids. Chips and salsa came quickly which were very good. Chips were light and crunchy which I liked a lot. Our first trip here and all were satisfied with what they got. I had the puffy tacos, first for me and they were delish. The meat was flavorful and the shell flaky. Queso was good too with a yellow cheese mixed with salsa. Didn't last long. Mexican coke and Pepsi fountain drinks. Good place to go for Mexican fare AFAIC.

Went by other Trip Advisor reviews and this was a definite thumbs up. Our meal was wonderful, their beans out of this world, chips and salsa were as good as people said. Oh yeah the Margaritas were delish... We will return and thank you Dom!

On a tip from the San Jose Visitor Center's gift shop employee, my husband and I went here for lunch for a break between missions and it was delicious!! We arrived about 1:45pm on a Wednesday afternoon, and the place was very crowded. Good sign!! We were given the chips and salsa and the salsa was very tasty! Not just tomatoey like alot of Mexican restaurants. I ordered the "Three Amigos" which consisted of a beef tamale, a cheese enchilada and a crispy taco. All 3 items were very good, just wish these places didn't use the premade taco shells! I fry my taco shells, wish they would too!! My husband ordered the Mexican Plate, I believe that was what it was called. It had a chalupa, 2 enchiladas, 1 puffy taco and something else, which I cannot remember. Anyway, all was good with the exception of the puffy taco. It looked as if it was puffy and crispy but in fact it was very soggy!! The corn tortilla was limp and the meat in the taco was very juicy which caused the whole thing to fall apart. We've made puffy tacos before, yes, it is an ordeal, but you can fry the corn tortilla puffy and crispy, the way a puffy taco should be! If we are back in the neighborhood, we would certainly go back. Only this time, we wouldn't order any tacos!

The service was excellent. I told the waiter it was my first visit to their restaurant. He took the time to review the menu with me and didn't rush me into a decision. The salsa had some heat to it and very good flavor. I ordered beef fajitas which was served in about five or so minutes. The beef was very flavorful. During the meal, the manager stopped and introduced himself, thanked me for trying their restaurant, and said an order of sopapillas would be brought out when I was done eating. Overall, another excellent TripAdvisor recommendation!

We were staying in the in the southern part of San Antonio and decided upon Nicha’s Comida since it was only a half mile from where we were staying. We arrived early, about 5PM and the parking lot was almost full. We were seated right away; there were several tables still open. We ordered our drinks and entrees. My wife had the Taco Salad with Fajita Pollo and I had the Chile Relleno. Our waiter was very good, brought us our drinks quickly and our food followed in short order. My wife’s Taco Salad was huge, loaded with lettuce, beans guacamole and cheese and so much chicken. The amount of chicken was amazing! My Chile Relleno platter was also huge, The chili was loaded with cheese and topped with salsa ranchera and more cheese and a side of mexican rice and guacamole salad and charro beans. This Chile Relleno meal with all the accoutrements was perhaps one of the best tasting authentic Mexican meals I have had. My wifes meal was also delicious. You have to go here.

I just finished lunch here and am very happy about the experience. Very nice building in an historic part of town. I had the crispy chicken tacos with rice and beans. I even tried out the flan, which is the true test of any Mexican restaurant. All was great, with good service and reasonable prices. Highly recommended!

Really good neighborhood restaurant Southside in San Antonio. Everyone is friendly and efficient. The menu is extensive, and all the dishes we tried were delicious.

We were visiting the Mission San Jose. Asked guide about best local restaurant. (We always ask locals for their opinion - very seldom disappointed). This was an exceptional recommendation. Parking lot was full at 2:00 PM. Food and service was great. We even got a sample. Our waitress was busy but she made a point of making sure everyone of her tables was looked after like they were the only one. Gave her a 25 % tip - she deserved it. Best meal we had in San Antonio this trip.

The best fajitas I've had! I make pretty good fajitas at home, but these are elite level beef fajitas. These are thick cut fajita steak that melt in your mouth with a wonderful explosion of flavor!
Dinner
The food and staff were awesome. When the manager found out that we were from out of town, she gave us some free tortilla soup. The soup was the best that I have ever had. Would recommend this restaurant to everyone
